Count me in Paul. Especially the bit about transport.
You say "drink extra" is that Guinnes Cold and will the glass by half full or empty?

Complete change of subject, just updated the Pot 2 table:
    http://www.stevie21.f2s.com/coefficient.zip

We need to be top 16 for a Pot 2 place and are in 22nd. Therefore we need 6 teams above us not to qualify.

Newcastle, Roma, Parma, Lazio and Bayer Leverkusen look pretty safe bets not to qualify for the CL.
This leaves ONE team from Valencia, Liverpool, Deportivo and Porto to continue to fail to secure a qualifying position in their league. My money's on Deportivo, if not more along with them.

I've not really looked at how likely it is that any team currently set to qualify will drop out - looking at the excel file, not too likely I'd say.

    Excuse the interuption ;-)

Any good nightclubs near that course?

What was wrong with booking up Bellshill or Colville Park? You get good chips wi gravy up at Colvilles, plus local cabaret band, Miami, might be on if yr lucky. If yr not Clem Snide will.

It's a grand idea wherever it is - good work Paul67.

    Thanks for that Stevie21.

Personally I don't think ANY of Liverpool, Valencia, Depor and Porto will qualify for next season's CL.

For more info on the state of play re: seedings have a look at this website:

    http://www.geocities.com/ricardo3941/ECL0405/cl0506.htm

This has Celtic seeded 14th as things stand, which improves to 13th if ACM, PSV or Chelsea win this season's CL, as they would occupy the "holder" slot, and are already seeded above Celtic.

Best of luck to you on the day, I have the swing of a simian malcontent so I'll gie it a bye.

I think it's a bit of a celeb pro-am wi Paul67 and McAveety there. Any chance of roping in a deid Jimmy Tarbuck for jokes later on? It could be a weekend at Bernie's style jape. With the deid Tarbuck held up by pullies and wires, it will be a laugh for all.

By the way Clem Snide are awright. Have ye no heard 'My Beautiful African Friend' McCann?

By the way I've just seen Frankie picking up papers fur the Cheeky Chippie and gettin a spam fritter for his trouble.

Just been on E-bay. Does anyone know if the club are able to stop these so called fans from selling tickets for the game on Sunday at inflated prices. Some wanker is wanting £260 for one ticket.

Good to hear from those coming along. Could anyone who has not done so drop me or taggsybhoy an email:

    1967@lisbonlions.com or
    taggsybhoy@yahoo.co.uk

eBay, brings back memories of those fretful days before Seville.

The money I spent to sit among a few thousand Porto fans!!!

Maybe Celtic should stick all of the tickets on eBay, help maximise the income stream (joke, honest).

Thanks to all the guys who have contacted me about the CQN Open. Its filling up and we have a max of 40, so please don't hang about if you want to come.

Its not just for the golfers. If you want a relaxing day out by the beach, followed by a few pints in the village pubs, followed by Celtic minded sporting banter, this will be a great day/night out.

I was fortunate enough to attend a Tommy Burns supper once (1990, rihgt after we put TFOD out the cup. Tommy Coyne was getting toasted as much as Tommy Twists!). it will not be as rowdy as that night, but good company and good crack guaranteed.

Martin, if you need even more excitement than the CQN Open, Kirkcaldy is a short taxi up the road....I'm not being serious!

But, please reserve your place via taggsybhoy@yahoo.co.uk

I'd love to go - if allowed - but no golf for me. Transport or a wee hotel room for a night will do me (as a Weegie).

    Look forward to the debate!

Aye thats it, you lot away and play golf and feed yer fat guts till the cows come home. I will hold the fort and maybe try and sell a few issues of old views. Wonder if a bouncy castle could make a few bob.

Great idea guys, Golf plus dinner in the company of other human beings!
I on the other hand will sit here in exile faraway on the Pacific north-west and cry into my beer (homemade), thinking about the brilliant craic, as in banter, you guys will have.
    Enjoy!!

Sorry to get all you away from your jolly bhoys outing but does anyone know the actual wage cost per year of the playing staff not the all in figure?

if this has been answered before sorry.

Be good to have you out in Fife! I did mean banter. More than a country bhoy than I realised! BTW, I'm sure CQN has a female readership. All ladies are very welcome at our non-sexist golf club.

Oregonbhoy. You fancy organising CQN 2006? Sure's there's some not bad places to play out your way?

  • At 21/04/05 09:46, Blogger Paul67 said…

Celtic Ultra, there are no published figures for playing staff wages. The £40million figure was reached during Larsson’s last season and when we reached CL and Uefa quarter final, won the league and cup, so there will be lots of bonuses in there.

This is the only figure that allows comparisons with other clubs, as no-one declares wages for playing staff exclusively.

Figure for the previous season when we won nothing but got to the Uefa final was £33million.

Last season basic pay for the playing staff will therefore be somewhere in the high £20millions, with circa £6million floating achieved in bonuses.

Change of topic again lads, let's get the banter going for Sunday. What is everyone's thoughts? I'd like us to get into Nova and Persil early on and let them know who's boss. Considering the last few games defending I think this is essential (even if wishful thinking). Assuming we can defend well and the midfield do their bit I think we can score a goal or two.

Ideally, I'd like Marv to play although I don't care as Malcom and the Greek don't bother me.

I just hope Sutton doesn't get dragged into the mix again. He was a leader last week and defended and attaked so solidly, lets hops we can do it again.

Whatever we think I know the broomloan rd will be bursting and loud as feck with mental pepperami heeds!!

    Hail Hail

Check out the link below - a Rangers supporter wi a brain??!!

    http://rangers.openfootball.co.uk/feedback.asp?id=4370

Some more useless data Paul, but it puts our accounts in perspective - the Deloitte & Touche report on British football for the season before last has the following info -
    * Each Premiership club had an average £6.2m operating profit but only 5 had an actual profit due to the legacy of amortisation charges.

    * The EP made £404m from British TV rights - £31.2m for Man U who also got £49m from Europe.

    * Average wage costs (I assume all in) were £38m - Man U £79.5m West Brom £11.5m.

    * Richest single game in world football is the Championship playoff final worth £35m to the winner.

    * The EP has total borrowings of £705m !!

Puts our accounts (and debt) into perspective.

Hope Marv plays on Sunday and that MON has a serious word with Bellamy about backchatting - we cant afford to have him sent off. Bobo says he'll settle for a draw I hope to God he doesn't go out with that attitude. Look for the ball over the top into the flank behind Maurice Ross for Wee Craig to do him for pace and score the winner, you heard it here first!!

    Hail! Hail!

Sure 2006 sounds good, and yes we have beautiful Golf courses out here, for everyones info Oregon is also the "home of the homebrews" meaning that you can actually get real - decent - tastefull beers in the state, there are people who come here just to savour the taste of a genuine India Pale Ale (as opposed to that McEwans pish masquerading as IPA).
The summers are really beautiful but don't come January through March it rains ALL THE TIME!
It may also interest our colleague asking about nightclubs to know that Portland has the greatest number of nude, I'll repeat that, NUDE (totally stark bollock naked)nightclubs in the 50 states of the union, of course I'm only here for the beer/fishing/golf.
Please do not tell this to any Huns/Orcs, as there's very few here, probably got something to do with the Green grass, green forests etc.
We do have an Irish pub in downtown Portland (Kells) which is the only place that shows the Celtic games, (at 04:00 in the morning!!), which means lot's of laughs because any huns have to come and watch the games with a pub full of Tims, needless to say there's no sash, Derry's walls or wading through knee deep blood, everyones a brother Scot etc.
So yes set a date, check air fares, clean the clubs, make excuses not to bring the wife/dragon/girlfriend.
I'll try organise a token hun to abuse in case anyone gets homesick.

Fingers crossed for Sunday, no sieve please, hope the Bhoys play to their full potential, God help us with the Ref-linesmen

0400hrs aw naw, 0600hrs well I'll maybe have a beer after all, to celebrate.
