Half time. Dundee United 2 – 3 Celtic.

Some excellent football from Celtic, very similar to the performance against Motherwell.

Camara, Maloney, Petrov and Nakamura are playing VERY fast football. Hartson has been a bit slow getting onto the end of a couple of crosses.

Two bad mistakes from Sutton and Boruc cost the United goals.

A couple of points on the penalty decisions:

The Sutton foul was outside the box.
The Maloney claim was not strong, I thought he made the most of the contact, but:

McManus was penalised inside the United box when Robson pulled him to the ground. McManus never touched Robson at all.

  • At 30/10/05 14:53, Blogger fencelt said…

Excellent first half performance from the bhoys. Midfield excellent with Maloney and Nakumura being very creative and Petrov working hard. Sutton and Hartson linking well, best I've seen Hartson fitting into the 'Celtic way'.

Defence OK, first goal conceded was one of those things, for the second McManus (?) was too close to Samuel and allowed himself to be turned. Dundee Utd attacks though are a rare thing as we're so on top.

Quite a contrast to our last Tannadice game when Utd had alot of possession and it took brilliance from Bellamy to win the game. Today is a flowing, dominant team performance.

with regards to the half time debate (radio scotland) on wether the united corner was travelling towards the goal or not... Does anyone remember a cross by chris Morris(against rangers at celtic park around 1990) which ended up in the net only to be ajudjed to have gone out of play first? Which was acvcording to the laws of physics impossible.
As you can see that incident still annoys me.

Exciting game with goals and fast flowing football again..the wee pitch is not inhibiting our play too much..

Nakamura...he is working hard as ever, great passing and he can take the knocks..

I am happy...continued the pace from Wed night....

But must say.... great turn and finish by Samuel.

The ref? An enigma...But even with him I think we will run away with this.....6-2

I'm with you on that one. I was standing in the jungle that day, right at the corners flag. According to the ref and linesman, Chris hit a cross which travelled in an amazing, S-shaped trajectory, something the best Brazilians can't do!
Still annoys me after all these years as well - it was the Hun's first win at CP in about 10 years.

Maloney's injury isn't serious 'just tired' he said; ie cramp.

    Oh happy days.

Loved the way Pearson looked as if he was "with the programme". Slotted in with ease to the system. Looks as if GS has got a philosophy going throughout the squad, not just the automatic choices.

During the 5 minutes he was on he had TWO opportunites to play in his team mates for certain goals to kill the game.

He instead elected take it himself and squander the chances.

SELFISH in the extreme, which on another day will cost us points.
