Come on the bhoys!! Taking deep breaths here.
There's been so much expextation leading up to this game, lets hope it lives up to it.
-
mon the hoops 3- today boys
-
Stand up for
You'll never walk alone
-
aaaargh.
channel67 just showed joke broon and er..em. Swiftly replaced by stills graphic.
Also, guy next to rankers end holding up 4 fingers!
you're 4th in the SPL etc...
-
Jock Brown informs us that Rangers have never lost a match on Nov 19th...really clutching at straws here.
-
C'mon the Bhoys!
Let's hammer them! They might up their game, but so will we!
Supporting from afar...but at Celtic Park in spirit...
-
Good passing start by Celtic but Rangers more into it in the last minute gaining a corner which came to nothing.
-
Mix up in Celtic defence leads to Jeffers shooting anrrowly wide.
At this point Rangers are winning the midfield balls.
-
1-0 Hartson
-
1-0 Hartson!!!
Hutton made a poor pass to Maloney who sets up Harton
-
He's big.
He's bad.
He's Big Bad John.
Well done BBJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good move, Naka, to Maloney to Hartson - 1-0.
-
Celtic marking not great at back but Rangers twice woeful at back one for goal. Assist Maloney.
-
Namouchi misses with a clear header from 9 yards. No marking
-
Stan looks jetlagged. Namouchi heads past a not that tough a chance. Poor-Show playing wide doing well for them.
-
Celtic playing long balls a bit often and losing ball. Midfield needs to get hold of it as defence are getting opened.
-
MeGeady good break but just fails to connect with Maloney. Defence again give Poor-Show a chance at goal - rugby job..
-
Three chances in the last five minutes for Rangers, mainly caused by poor marking in defence following a move breaking down in midfield. This game is certainly not over.
Nice move by McGeady and Maloney the only light relief.
-
possession 50/50 at 23minutes
-
Camara/McGeady doing well, Naka starting to get on ball , BBJ drifting right to get ball. Celtic getting and keeping ball better now.
-
McGeadys work rate is fantastic - always feel if he doesn't do the biz up front he can help out at the back as he is doing well today. Up front he's also doing well today.
-
definitely settling down more. Stan coming onto his game and I've never seen Mc Geady work so hard, he's breaking up many Rangers' moves.
-
Amazing save by Boruc at feet of Ferguson after mistake by Mcmanus _ can't believe he got it.
-
Cross field ball again catching Celtic at back but Poor-Show not up to it.
-
Hateley saying that its all down to confidence (Rangers bad form). No its not Mark its all down to ability and tactics.
-
Celtic back 4 working better together getting offside. HT 1-0.
-
Half-time 1-0, close game but we just about deserve to be in front.
-
Hartson now 8 OF goals - Henriks 11 being post war record..any bets BBJ will beat this??
-
My player ratings;-
Boruc 8
Telfer 7
Balde 6
McManus 6
Camera 7
Naka 6
Stan 6
Lenny 8
McGeady 9
Sean 7
BBJ 9
-
Interested to see Setantas own ad at half-time. They show that Mother**ll goal (must cheer up half their subscribers I suppose..) and they play music composed for a funeral - sums 'em up really - and we pay them how much??
Teamsback on - no changes at HT.
-
anyone know of any radio coverage outside UK? i;m in catalonia
-
Andrews booked for heavy tackle on Maloney. Thompson (Alan) warming up.
Maloney being stretchered off.
-
Maloney back on.....phew!
-
Hutton off Lovenkrands on. Good to see that Eck's tactical moves are continuing.
Ricksen (playing well in midfield) back to full-back
-
2-0 Blade YEEEEEEESSSS
-
Wonderful 20 odd pass move by Celtic almost ends in Hartsonn1 on 1 with Waterhuus
Balde scores from the corner
2-0
-
2-0 ya dancer
-
Boboooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thompson replacing Maloney.
Wonderful play by Naka to put the cross in for Balde.
-
Blade - bloody hell can't even type - I CANNOT BELIEVE BALDE SCORED WITH HIS HEAD!!! Great glancing header - though it was BBJ again (ok - theres not that much similarity..)
-
3-0 Aiden
-
Brown now saying that every time Balde scores against Rangers Celtic lose.
As its now 3-0 he's wrong!!
McGeady
EASY!!!!
-
Not sure who looks more miserable on the TV, McLeish or Chick Young!
-
McGeady !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
-
One
Two
Three
We want more!
I want a big crooked number humping!
-
GREAT GOAL for AIDEN !!!
THREE - NOWT !!!
-
Shocking keeping by the Dutch Porn Star for the 3rd goal - Boruc makes first mistake of day but comes to nothing.
Rangers much better than CIS game but all in all gutless.....
Shame.
-
Did you see the look on Chick Young's face when they showed Mcleish during the replay of Aiden's goal.
CY was spewing - no doubt where his loyalties lie!!
Let's really give them a doing.
Hail! Hail!
Curly
-
Prso giving up....walked off the pitch hobbling.
-
Fantastic. Official site now sounds like they've employed Normal Collier to do the commentary.
C'MON ... WE WANT FOUR!
-
-
Poor-Show taking the easy route out by getting hamstring injury..shame..Thompson on
-
3 - 0 happy days but this crap rangers team exposed our full backs and mc manus earlier, telfer is a disaster waiting to happen but this could get embarassing for them!
Prso off, hahahaha.
Hope maloney is ok!!
-
Sounds as though Poorshow has pulled up with a hammy. Shame
-
and I really have to say that the ref has been good and consistant today. Not that tough a game to ref but still... Celtic 3 shots on goal = ? - its like they used to do to us in the 80's/90's - ITS GREAT.
-
One Gordon Strachan being sung, lovely stuff.
-
One Gordon Strachan - theres only One Gordon Strachan being sung - what odds on that being sung back on 1/8 ? Didier warming up.
-
Agathe coming on for Naka who's getting a standing ovation.
-
thompson goodwith his hands
pis* with his feet and head !!
-
huns singing now
Dundee Hamilton etc etc

It just keeps getting better...
There is only one Gordon Strachan...indeed!
..Off to listen to the meeja...
:0)
-
Derek Johnstone's voice going up an octave or three
Happy days
-
Piemans voice rising due to Andy Walker showing him up for the tube he is.
Go on Andy.
-
-
There is no way the 'Ginger Genius' can survive this now.
We went up the gears after the team talk, and they could not respond. They had nothing to respond with.
Unlike us they have,
No leadership
No tactics
No team spirit
and lack quality.
We dominated them and our midfield is simply outstanding. I would have liked to have created more clear cut chances, but that is a minor grumble.
Glad to see McGeady getting back into the fold these days and fully taking his chance in the team.
Hopefully we can blood more Celtic young bhoys rather than bringing in overpaid Manure players.
-
Embarrassingly E A S Y
Rangers offered nothing more than brawn & bluster.
We passed them to death until the chances appeared and we took them clinically.
Yes, we can improve. We looked hesitant in defense at times but hey ! Give me 3-0 against that lot every week.
Can we play them every week ???
Now that would make it too EASY.
Enjoy the weekend Bhoys
-
Happy days, Happy days.
-
Jimmy25bellies-
you can finish all the humble pie cos I wont be needing it.
Celtic totally controlled the game.
Celtic totally controlled rangers.
Edward-if you really are a bear-do yourself a favour and go into hibernation.
No manager on the planet can turn around that bunch of diddies-not a term I use lightly.
That team are stealing wages from ibrox.
No organisation.
No skill-how can steven thomson be called a"professional" football player.
No fight-even rangers best player this season gave up the ghost after the 3rd goal.
Aiden McGeady is the real deal-a
%100 improvement on last season.
We have The Quality Street Kids Mk.2.
I,m off for beer with supercelt and maybe fat jim......
Hail ! Hail !
noel.
-
EASY
Not what you'd call an attractive or even good performance but we done what we needed to win. Rangers had a few chances and our defence looks unorganised at times but they never looked like they'd be able to score - it's like they've got a mental block against it.
I thought the referee had a not bad game compared (and i stress that word) the normal displays we see from the MIB.
Hope Maloney isn't injured seriously.
Watching McGeady rip the mince and wind up Ricksen made my day. Fernando the Commando was raging!
Bring on Hertz!
-
Aiden McGeady....
This young lad (19 remember)has been critcised (often with cause) by many fans (including me)....
I have to say that I am impressed by the fact that he clearly is working hard and learning from previous errors. If he keeps this kind of attitude going, who knows how good he can become?
Like everyone else, I really hope that wee Shaun is ok. Thought that was a red card for Andrews. I was a bit concerned with McMaunus, Prso was finding space in the channel between Mick and Camara. If rangers had a confident striker, they might have got a first half goal.
Overall, another confident performance, even though we only went through the gears that were needed.
I wonder what Kojo makes of the 'news' that Dermot is trying to contact Keane's agent. If there is money for that - give it Petrov!!
-
Big Johns comment in the interview that the press have been concentrating on how bad they are and no mention being made of how good Celtic are, spot on.
Pat
-
Good to see Didier getting on even though the game was over by then. Nice to see several of our players shaking his hand as he came on but I was amazed to see a rangers player shake his hand also. Also surprised at the lack of much brutality by them they seemed to accept defeat, again , very quietly. Big eck has no chance with this mob.
-
DOES ANYONE HAVER A LINK FOR HIGHLIGHTS / FOOTAGE OF THE GAME?
HAIL HAIL! ONE TEAM IN GLASGOW!
-
what made me think they would score!!! I put on 3-1 Hartson fgs, ah well!
Just in from the game, how about that for a performance?! superb, "EASY! EASY! EASY!"
No, really, it was!
AB: 7 - Steady but not really tested
PT: 6 - lost his marker too many times, better in 2nd half though
BB: 6 - steady enough, but a few dodgy moments
SMc: 9 - Excellent, all game, my m.o.m
MC: 8 - MO, MO, SUPER MO! he's a machine, sticks to the task well (lets all wear a tuba grip on our left arms at work this week)
SN: 7 - Great performance, looked tired but still gave 100% he puts fear into opposition without doubt.
SP: 8 - As usual, Stan-tastic. took Barry F to school
NL: 8 - Again, the usual, dominated the midfield.
AM: 9 - Excellent, he's grown up a lot, coming back he was great, going forward always a threat. close call for m.o.m
JH: 8 - Does a great job, the opposition can never leave him alone so even when he's not in the game he's vital.
SM: 7 - Unfortunate to see him go off, loked good as usual!
the play before the corner for the 3rd goal was some of the best football I've seen in an old firm game, musta been 20 odd passes and great skill too. wonderfull!
we still got Sutton, Beattie AND Magic to come back!!
tell all the huns you know,
we're the top of the league and they're no,
we've got Magic and Stan,
and the king of Japan,
and they've only got Dado Prso!
-
sorry, i ment to give Bobo an extra point for his goal...well taken!
BB:7
-
Hibs behind to Falkirk, 2-3 after being 2-0 up.
-
EdwardUrsus - you deserve better (though hope you don't get it of course!)
With Prso hobbling off with his hamstring I really fear for you in Oporto. Still think you'll make the UEFA cup though.
Any dodgy songs sung that the press can lambast us over?
-
Loved the Loboe'sque play by Naka for Bobo's goal, pure magic.
-
-
hey this is my first time on.great result hope hearts lose tomorrow!
-
Is Prso really injured, it looked to me at the match that he had just given up!Think you'll find he's fit for Porto.
-
Wonderful stuff today, i still cant believe keevins, smith et all who think there is not a big gulf between the sides.
Were they even watching the same game?
Bring on the well, another 5 goals please!!
-
I haven't checked it out but this is reputed to show the goals :-)
http://s61.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=11V5W3MYQNKMM08AYITVTV24OF
-
Sorry I just viewed it and it is only the first goal. I'll leave the link until a clip appears with all three.
-
Richard81, i too thought he'd just chucked it and walked off today but big feck has said he is definately out for Porto.
-
dunfermiline beat hibs in last round
-
This CQN is a disease, I've just got off a plane (it's 9am here), kissed the wife hugged my son, patted the dog and on my favourite website before I've even got my jacket off !!
Thanks for the updates bhoys, a great result, I'll take back all I said about BBJ, looks like Naka could become a legend, can't wait to see the game, unfortunately Setanta only show it midweek.
It's an absolutely beautiful day here in Oregon and this result just made it better!!!
Did big Eck take it with dignity?
Oregonbhoy
-
dunfermline
-
If Naka keeps improving the physical side of his game at this rate, we'll be calling him Sumo by Christmas.
-
Was Andrews tackle on Maloney as bad as it looked at the match, anyone see it on tv ? It looked a shocker!
-
sorry!
in my excitment I didnt even read what i was posting, they were talkin to mowbry and I wrot Hibs not Dunf! OOPS! oh ell... ahem,
CIS cup semi final draw:
m'well (cant write their full name) vs Celtic
Dunf Vs Livi
-
Haw CC, yer a numpty!
-
Just about to listen to traynor's show. the rankers fans have started already. this is the only time i like these type of shows!!
-
It was so weird for me today. I usually go in to old firm games shitting myself.
The fact that I wasn't wasn't the surprise.
The lack of ability on the dark side was apparent.
I was there at the CIS cup tie. We played at 75% and totally outplayed them. Today, I felt we played okay but probably only 75% of what we are capable of again and we still dominated them.
I actualy came away from a game feeling sorry for them.
They are truly a poor side. But anyone who feels sorry for McLeish then get some balls.
The reason they are pish is because he can't pick a player, he has no idea about tactics and he has NO dignity.
What kind of manager slaggs of his current players tellig them they are holding the club back by staying. The same players would no doubt say the same of you Alex. If the were so UNDIGNIFIED.
Taxi for ECK.
-
A guy just said "celtic are mediocre" and traynor agreed heartily. what the hell are rankers then?? think i'll put it back off. typical media.
-
Rangers fan on the Radio Snide plying up Britishness. Johnny Foreigner letting them down the establishment. Losing their British identity was is fear (not with that xenophobia mate that is true Conservative and Unionist Little Englander mentality). He never mentioned Scottish once….. Drool Britannia
They are really stuck in the past. I think there is pain for them, the world has moved on they seem unable to understand their “dignified identity’ their badge of honour is now a badge of shame. I real anachronism - out of time and place
-
OK Lhads and Lhassies. The 3 goals in all their glory.
CELTIC 3 Rangers 0
-
you get the feeeling that the person who made up that video ran out of material after about 1 minute. it was good to see them again anyways.
i loved bbj's celebration, a cheeky wee hand to the ear for the rankers fans before he remembered he might get a booking and stopped short, Halarious!!!!!
-
Btw, that was a tongue in cheek dig at the guy who made the video. no offence meant!
-
Codi what station is Traynor on? Clyde is done.
-
its bbc radio scotland. not sure how you get it online tho!
-
Codi,
I've just emailed Traynor about us bein mediocre, hopefully they read it out, but it prob. makes to much sense!

Oregonbhoy,
You should look into starting a CSC where you are then you will get all the games live. Connect with the North American Federation of Celtic Supporters Clubs www. nafcsc.com
On the game today the defence was suspect in the first half and I agree with Wee Gordo that we were lucky from a chances perspective to come out of the half ahead.
However we were clearly the dominant team without hitting our highest level. The goals were a treat.
Players for me were Naka, Shaun and McGeady.
Re Keano, I agree with Paul that he has shown to be a disruptive force . I think though its worth the chance to bring him in and try to leverage his experience and on -the- field leadership with the younger and newer players. We could always try and write a "minimum standard of behaviour" clause in his contract and if he loses the heid we could part company without severance.Maybe worth a try.
-
Re Keane
When has Gordon Strachan ever said he would like Keane?
Only one down side I can see to putting together a pay for play deal - Roy pays us! - the only down side is whether Gordon wants Keane. If he does go for it otherwise no thanks Roy.
Slightly concerned that Dermot Desmond might be signing the player and picking the team. We don't want to get into the situation of a Romanov type signing and a return to the day when the directors picked the team under the old old Board.
-
An oak tree is better than balde says traynor. why do i listen to this?
-
Hope that Paul who just called Traynor wasn't oor Paul67 :-)
-
i would hope not, he was a complete numpty! gives us supporters a bad name!
Keane for celtic, yes.
Keane in for balde, NO!!
-
Fascinating how little the media refer to the wafer thin Mint...Wonder why?
I thought St Anthony would sound smarter than that....
:0)
Where did the news break about DD contacting Keane's agent....?
My understanding was that Strachan has not made any comment on the matter..
If DD did say something before todays game I would consider it...simply
PSYCH-OPS
-
I heard it on snide before the game!
-
Codi
Got it Nice Pic of Traynor.....still have not seen a handsome hun...that pic just reinforced it
-
Don't worry about radio jocks slagging our players or our team, the more deluded they are the less likely we'll be overtaken at the TOP OF THE LEAGUE, ME BHOYS, TOP OF THE LEAGUE!
-
Bhoy I wish I was back home in Glasgow tonight
-
Back from the game....ahhhhhh....
Despite my recent track record regarding my use of the phase "poorest X I have ever seen" I'm going to use it again now - and I stand by it this time. That is the worst Rangers team I have ever seen. Easily. In a way I feel sorry for Barry Ferguson, no, he's not a the super genius the media would have you believe, but he's the only guy in that team prepared to slog his guts out and work like a mad man. The rest of that team are terrible! Even Dado Prso chucked it way before his substitution. Ricksens' impression of the invisible was stylish though.
Celtic I thought did what was required and dispatched Rangers in a very businesslike way. All the more impresive given both Stan and Naka's travelling over the week. All in all, 10 out of 10. Any more of this and I'll be singing Strachans' praises! changed days indeed. :-)

Re the Mint: From wwwhonestpage.co.uk
Who were on the Ayr United board when they knocked back David Murray's offer to buy the club?
Question from BigMac
George Smith (chairman), Sandy Loudon (vice chairman), Bill Barr (secretary), Mike Thomson, Tom Clydesdale, Myles Callaghan junior and Donnie MacIntyre.
Contrary to popular belief, the Ayr United board did not reject David Murray. At Murray's request, the matter was put to a vote involving the major shareholders. Of the 60 shareholders who voted, his proposals were rejected by 56 of them.
The Murray offer stank. His original proposal contemplated a cash injection of £90,000, later increased to £112,000, plus a repayable loan of £500,000. This was in exchange for 75% ownership of the club by way of shares issued to him. A counter proposal was to inject the £500,000 not by way of a loan but by new shares to be issued to him, again on the basis of 75% control. By securing 75% of his own investment he would effectively have been paying £125,000 for 75% ownership and one-man control.
It was felt that he was grossly undervaluing the club and he was told that he was free to make as many further proposals as he wished.
I have extracted the above facts from a letter sent to all shareholders at the time.
If you have any questions about Ayr United that you would like answered, please send a Private Message with your question to duncan.carmichael.

I've just done the unthinkable and gone into the follow follow website (really just to have a good gloat, honest , I'll now need to clear my history , dont want to get caught doing that) . The quote that has me in stitches is about Hartson's goal, it says " The Celtic fans celebrated with their customary sectarian abuse aimed at the Ibrox Manager. " priceless ! ! !
-
Another Glasgow Derby another EASY victory for GS and our team.
I thought we were a little slack first half and that was where their chances came from however there was always only going to be one winner.
Fantastic finishes for all three, icing on the cake wee Aiden beating the Physco to the ball.
Aiden was outstanding today and I thought Nakamura was a close second his joy at creating Bobo's goal was good to see, celebrating in front of us all in Block 102.
Well done Gordon, I think thats you and your team been tested twice? and passed no problems.
All the best to BQ!
Finally I dont think there is any harm in DD getting involved in the Keane negotiations but I dont think that means he is buying him.
EASY EASY EASY
You're fourth in the SPL
You're fourth in the SPL
You're fourth in the SPL
You're fourth in the S.P.L.
Hail Hail
Stephen with a "ph"

Decent performance - great teamwork and up against a very poor mid table team.
I have heard the usual platitudes about how well Dougie McDonald handled the game so let me get this off my chest. Two tackles on Camara happened right in front of me. Namouchi got a yellow - if it had been a world cup he would have walked. Steven Thompson (when he wasn't elbowing McManus) gave Camara a real sore one with the linesman five yards away - no free kick - in case any one suggests that McDonald didn't see it, then I will just say he booked Nakamura for a phantom kick at Fernando 'Oscar Clip' Ricksen even though he didn't see that one.
As for Andrews tackle on Maloney, Shaun is lucky he doesn't have a broken ankle tonight. A blatant act of thuggery that should dispel the myth about what a good Christian he is!
Also, a big thank you to FC Dignity for pegging us back into our corners on several ocassions after we had kicked the ball out to give players from both teams treatment. It was dignified behaviour from a team who have enjoyed 132 years of unsurpassed dignity.
A final note about the fans - having hoped for the sectarian songs to stop in my post on Friday I got my wish. Contrast that to 90 minutes of pure undiluted bile from the so called fans of FC Dignity. The whole world heard them chanting "there is only one Marvin Andrews" after his shocker on Maloney. I know they usually have the most despicable reportoire but they really exceeded themselves today.
-
Just shook hands with Aiden McGeady's dad and told him his boy done good. Very good.
He's found that extra strength and yard of pace he needed, he's showing great defensive discipline when the other mob have the ball and he made a host of great interceptions in the first half.
And, oh yes, that's right, he SCORED against Rangers! How good do you think he feels tonight?
And it's all down to the good work he's done on the training ground and gym, all the while encouraged by our inspirational manager.
Well done Aiden. Well done Strachan. Well done Celtic.
We won 3-0 without even playing well. But sometimes you don't have to... when playing against mediocre middle-of-the-league teams. :-0
I said beforehand that we were fitter. Rangers put a lot of effort into the first half but did nothing after the break, despite being behind. For the record, Rangers have lost 25 goals in their last 22 games - and 19 of them have been in the second half.
And that was us with Nakamura travelling halfway round the world and Petrov playing in Texas on Thursday morning. Did you see Stan when the final whistle went? He slumped to his knees with exhaustion. His lack of spring was a major factor in our relatively disappointing performance but he can't be faulted for effort.
Finally, I said in the first half that I could not believe they were pairing Namouchi with Balde at set pieces. I told my friends that Bobo would score.
For that alone, McLeish must...
STAY!
-
Barca winning 1 0. eto 15 mins.
the king is on the bench!
-
Just got in from the match. One song resounding in my ears all day.
Oh the Rangers are scheidt
Oh the Rangers are scheidt
Oh the Rangers are scheidt
Oh the Rangers are scheidt
AND REPEAT...........
-
Well done Gordon Strchan!
Listened to his interview with mr young today before the match on bbc radio Scotland. It would have been very easy for him today to try and rush back Sutton or Zurawski, how many times have we seen players who are clearly not fit, on the bench or even in the first team. He made the decision that although we would all love to see them in this game he was not prepared to risk the fitness of the above players. The good thing about this as far as i'm concerned is that it gives confidence to the players who are doing the business in the team at the moment. The other brave decision he made today was to keep McGeady in the team rather than bring in Alan Thompson I have always been a big fan of Thompson and I believe McGeady has often flattered to deceive but today he was fantastic and he well deserved his man of the match award. Well done Aiden keep it up.
Funny thing today listening to the phone in on the way home from the game was the fact The rangers fans were blaming their foreign imports and bemoaning the lack of Scottish talent Celtics 3 scorers today a Welshman a Guineaman and Irishman

Glass Half Full...
The Rangers fans repertoire was, as you say, choice. The Marvin Andrews chant was particularly unedifying - Still, we answered them brilliantly, both on and off the park.
There was a noticable lessening of abusive language from Celtic fans also, and the "Always look on the bright side of life" was delivered with comic timing.
I thought the rendition of "The Soldiers song" in response to "Rule Brittania" was apt also. Certainly it shut them up.
Didn't notice them doing the Bouncy Bouncy thing much in the second half either - I wonder what happened? ;-) Oh..thats right...3-0!
How bad is it that both Hibs and Kilmarnock couldn't up the pressure just a little more?

I understand what your saying regarding ferguson he reminded me today of Paul McStay during the horrible years, but I'll Never, Ever feel sorry for him. I think we witnessed a man today who now knows he should Never, Ever, have come back to HELL

just a note to thank all for the good wishes.
thought the match report on the official site was very to the point no messing about - great stuff

2 0 barca, Ronaldhinho.
Get the KING on now!

anyone got a link for highlighs yet? Seriously enjoyed the game, but we nver really got out of 2nd gear.
Baskin in the glory just now, but would love to see the goals again. Cheers amigos!

p.s. has anyone ever managed to download pplive for Mac, rather than PC?

Gordon Strachan thinks he should phone an old team mate as he is having a hard time.
Gordon: "Alex c'mon over tomorrow night,we're having a party, it'll do you good to get out"
Alex: " Thanks Gordon but I can't manage"
Boom and indeed boom.
-
3 0 barca, ronaldhinho is an absolute genius. The real fans are leaving with 15 to go. The goal was so good that the real fans actually applauded.
-
What do folk make of:
1. Chick Young's face after 3rd goal as portrayed on Setanta?
2. WGS inability to stick in to Eck and talking up Rangers. WGS needs to get with the programme?
3. Radio Scotland / Setanta talking almost exclusively of ranger's failings and neglecting the brilliance of Celtic. Particularly cheesed off with Willie (management falure - on and off the park!) Miller talking up Eck- a la old pal's act.
The media are at it and we don't need WGS joining the conspiracy.
Having said that - very pleased with result!!
-
Chick Young's face was hysterical! He looked more gutted than McLeish. St Mirran fan....aye rrrrright. And its the media... what do u expect??And i think the rangers fans conduct was disgusting after the "miracle" mans tackle on wee shaun...but I suppose we expect that too. Hail hail Gordon Strachan and the rest of the bhoys! x

RE Barry Ferguson. Thing is, looking at him through obective eyes, he's not that different to any of us. He's just a guy that loves his football team and who possesses the requisite skills to do what any of us would. IE play for the team we love.
Granted he's had his moments where he has acted like a thug, but I honestly don't think he's bad guy per se....Not like one Andy Goram (Gorman???) :-) He's not enshrined in the dodgy aspects of the club. When I see him out there I can only think that he's doing soming I would love to do. Further he looks distraught at how bad Rangers are, and how few share his passion. I've always got time for players who are passionate.
Obviously, I could be wrong about him - I don't know him personally, but aquintances that do testify that he's not like Goram, Ricksen or any of the other less respectable players.
Obviously, I'm enjoying Rangers being rank rotten, but the truth is that Barry isn't that different to any of us. Long may his hurt continue, I'm not crying about it, but I do feel for him.
/p
-
Just back from the game. Magic. Have to say Cultsbhoy I agree with WGS assessment (on Radio Scotland anyway). Celtic should have been 3 goals down in the first half. If Celtic had missed these chances I’d be gutted. Celtic were better when a few goals up as you'd expect but Rangers were the better team in the first half.
-
Glass Half Full I didn't think Marvin's tackle on Sean was malicious or intentional. Maybe a wee bit late. I'm sure Andrews will be as concerned as the rest of us about Sean's recovery.
Battlefield Tim Links to goals posted around 5:30 pm.
What was Ferguson doing getting involved with a group of fans? He really should know better by now, and he must know it's a lose lose situation.
Satisfactory result today, but not a great performance. In saying that we only needed to be good, as Rangers were once again completely inept in front of and in goal. I assume Waterhuis was preferred to retain Klos' CL value in the January sales.
Hopefully Petrov and Nakamura san can have an extra couple of days off this week to recover from the jet lag. It may even be worth considering resting them next week.
(Roy Keane to replace Stan in midfield? Lights blue touch paper and retreats)
The blue figures in the rear view mirror are further behind than the media would have us believe.

2. WGS inability to stick in to Eck and talking up Rangers. WGS needs to get with the programme?
I get what you are saying, but I think MON employed a similar tactic. As did Jock Stein.
The other point is this - In recent memory that have been (I think) 13 Celtic fans murdered in the aftermath of games. Given this appalling statistic, I'm quite glad he reacted in a dignified (Celtic dignified??? Never...) :-) manner and spoke very soberly. If it stops one Celtic fan recieving a kicking fromsome throwback neanderthal then it's a worthwhile excercise.
This all being said, I'd have love it him to say "We stuffed Rangers! Big deal! They're rubbish!, I'm more worried about playing Livingston these days."
Dreams eh? ;-)

P8ddy dont know how long you've been watching Celtic but Barry seems to have learned a lot during his time down south. He was Mr Rangers in the worst way prior to going down there but seems to have cleaned up his act in his second spell for them.
-
My point re WGS talking up the Huns is that it is born out of loyalty to ECK. His loyalty is now only to CFC. I'm not asking him to be undignified but I just think he should drop the old pals act.
Let's face it it's not as if he can save Eck's job or dignity - both of which are now history. Tomorrow's tabloids should do for that.
-
P8ddy
Agree I never said Ferguson was a bad person what I was refering to was the passion Paul had when we were down. I like Gordons style. I never talk about the game for about 3 or 4 days with the ranger supporter in my work. my stance is just another 3 points....c'mon the dons

GarBhoy...
P8ddy dont know how long you've been watching Celtic
First Celtic Rangers game 25 years ago :-) I think I qualify for time off due to good behaviour!
but Barry seems to have learned a lot during his time down south. He was Mr Rangers in the worst way prior to going down there but seems to have cleaned up his act in his second spell for them.
I don't think thats entirely the case - I remember one incident with him in a fight with a young Celtic fan (whipping him with his belt if I recall correctly) But I don't recall too many other sticky situations. On the park, yes he was tenacious, but would you not be in the same position? He was young, he was, as the saying goes, "full of p*** and vinegar". Off the field he's always been relatively well behaved (I think). I also know for a fact that he's acted as peacemaker on a number of occasions of the park, when other team"mates" wanted to pick fights. That is not to excuse any potentially sectarian acts in his private lives, but I think we've all done stupid things in during our immature years. The difference is that we do not have newspapers bringing our every action to light.
Finally, before leaving Ibrox the first time Mr Rangers married a Catholic. Not the actions of a bigot.
I guess we'll all have our recollections of him, but equally, I think the difference between an immature young guy having money thrown at him and a mature adult is telling. We've also had our share of your guys going mad with cash - I just it's better to judge the men the develop into.
/p
-
Just back from visiting the darkside - a number of Rangers websites! They seem to be content to talk about the fact that they outsung us today! That just about sums them up!
-
Anyone who saw WGS's reaction to Celtics second goal should have no doubt about the wee man's allegiance...
-
P8ddy
25 years... Ok thats long enough for me. I think Barry is better now than before, I put that down to his time away from Ibrox, but u may be right it may be that he's not a wee boy any more. The fact that he married a catholic sure changes my mind on the bigotory bit... does she support Rangers?
-
Cultsbhoy...
I know what you mean, but I don't think he's doing it for any reason other than to be respectful. If it's an old pals act, I can understand that too. I think it's on record that I disapprove of McLeish (or anyone) managing a club with the baggage Rangers have (Orange strips et al) but I think that Celtic having a dignified silence on the matter is all good. It's time we took the moral high ground and were truthful about what Rangers stand for.
Malcolm X put it very well -
"Be respectful, obey the law, but if someone puts their hand on your shoulder, put them in a box"
I think Gordon Strachan handled himself very well. You think it's an old pals act, but Strachan isn't stupid, he'll be more than aware he can't save Alex McLeish, and being dignified and respectful shows why we're Celtic and they sing for Andrews after he injures Maloney. I think credit goes to Strachan for this. And as you know, I'm not by any stretch a WGS fan (yet).
In the end, ask yourself this - What have we got to gain by letting rip and rubbing it in? Nothing. What have we to gain by remaining silent - our dignity and the chance to be self righteous in the future (a trait a few CQNers accuse me of) - Treat others as you would like to be treated. I wouldn't welcome McLeish waxing lyrical on Strachan however bad our situation.

From where I was sitting I dont know how they can claim to have outsung us.I was even singing to everyone elses horror.

Glad to see folks agree that McGeady is improving, and had a fine game today.
Moving on to Nakamura...I think that these 2 rangers games have been the making of this lad. I was fearful for him a month ago. I thought he was fragile, and noted that he did shirk out of tackles.
In the 2-0 game he won a big one against ricksen. Today he followed that up with a few more....and even got himself an undeserved booking! He won the ball for us to start the move that led to goal #3.
Like Aiden McGeady, if Nakamura continues to grow in confidence, then I think we might have a player on our hands.
Final thought....I wouldn't go as far as to defend Klos last week....but take a look at our 2nd goal in that game. Klos was criticised for focusing on Balde, rather than the ball. I agree. However, look at the swerve on the ball. When it took to the air, it was heading beyond the far post. Then it took the first right and swung right in on the goal. One of these days, I might even get over Lubo.
Finally (again:)....any word on Shaun????????

The fact that he married a catholic sure changes my mind on the bigotory bit... does she support Rangers?
:-D
Well played - Making a grown man laugh at a computer screen, I liked that.
If she's a follower of Rangers I take it all back :-)
Maybe a different debate, but given the leadership of the Catholic Church, maybe she'd be more suited to supporting our cousins from Govan? ;-D
I'll shut up now, before I get more calls for my execution...

Just a couple of points following last night.
1. The "diddy" remark was uncalled for, unmerited and unworthy and I apologize unreservedly.
2. Please continue with posts like 6:41. Concise, accurate and even magnaminious. On that form you remain one of the better reads on this site.
Should that seem patronising, it is not meant so.
I call it as I see it.
Regards
Alex

I have read on the Rangers site that Barry Ferguson`s Father-in -law is a Celtic supporter--I have not heard that Barry`s wife is a fooball supporter -if she was she would hardly be marrird to Barry

Moving on to Nakamura...I think that these 2 rangers games have been the making of this lad. I was fearful for him a month ago. I thought he was fragile, and noted that he did shirk out of tackles.
I keep saying it, but I'll say it again (I like hearing myself type you know)
Naka physically reminds me of Larsson. Not similar players but I think Naka is more than able of coping physically, and isn't afraid to put himself about or get kicked.

Another Alex Frae Govan...
1. The "diddy" remark was uncalled for, unmerited and unworthy and I apologize unreservedly.
Don't worry about it. I've got thick skin and a dreadful memory. :-)
We all get a bit riled when we argue about something we care about. It's also true to say that I'm less than subtle at times, and unintentionally attract less than subtle replies. I'm sure you'll have noticed :-)
Thanks anyway, it's appreciated. Onwards and upwards for Celtic!

In a genuine spirit of enquiry ...
Not being a Roman Catholic myself I miss the allusion in this posting taken from followfollow a minute ago, re the numbers given to seats on the back row of their end at CP:
also the seat numbers read 2 30 21 33 and catholic numbers like that
Can anyone help?
Perhaps there are a lot of Catholic numbers? If so, what are the others? And do the cunning swine put Protestant numbers on our seats when we play at Ibrox?
Or are they all rabid?
-
Paddy, naka is no where near as physical as larsson, get real!! Larsson htrough himself into things and easily knocked people of the ball, naka huffs and puffs and tries but rarely achieves to do this, he is getting better but please, as physical as larsson, no chance, have another look at the archives!!

We've just won an important game, and so far all comments on CQN have been civil and honest.
Lets not drag things down by starting insulting people.
And I say this full in the knowlege I was a catalyst, and share the blame for the same thing happening last night. It'll be a shame if all the good feeling evaporates due to some intolerance. Lets keep it clean. CQN is notable for informed, intelligent discussion, lets keep it that way.
Calling people names and posting during that first flush of annoyance is never a good thing (take it from me, I'm trying to wean myself off that very trait)

I am one of those who was a bit unsure about young Aiden in the last game. Not so much critical, just couldn't understand why he didn't seem to fit very well into the team despite his talent and improved work-rate.
To-day I take my hat off! Agree whoeheartedly with Weeron earlier - with such skill and application how far can he go? I don't know but look forward to future developments.
Question re. difference between last week and today and I would appreciate some help here.
Is it so simple that talents like Aiden are not so good at just "fitting in" as I think he tried to do last week (lesser talents can run and tackle better) but that he needs to be himself whilst remembering the team ethic?
It seemed to me that he worked just as hard, but made better decisions. He seemed to show greater belief in making his own decisions rather than what was expected of him.
Even the attempted through passes which were intercepted were outstanding attempts to do the unexpected.
Comments, anyone?
Alex

Shelbourne1916...
I didn't say he was as physical as Larsson. I did say that physically he reminded me of Larsson. These are two comletely distinct concepts.
Naka is still adjusting to the Scottish game, but he's got plenty of strength and isn't afraid. It's early days for him, but I stand by what I've said. Lets see how he develops - Today I thought he looked string in possesion and his tackling was good.
I doubt anyone will emulate Larssons physical prowess, but I can see shades of the same thing in Naka. Time will tell!
/p
-
Been a very good day, 3-0 to God's Team, Naka performance very encouraging.
"You're not very good" was sung from the stands. Family section.
On previous thread, re Brian Quinn, we should be proud and privileged to have him as Chairman. Remember the CIS Cup Celtic 2 Rangers 0 :) ? It was only 10 days ago, wee Shaun scored a goal from 100 yards out. Brilliant.
I hosted a Londoner to the match, his first OF. After, we were enjoying a pint when Brian Quinn joined us and shared a pint with the fans. Londoner "I like this club. A club where the chairman joins with the fans for a beer is admirable". I was chuffed, so I introduced myself and had a good blether with gentleman chair. Lots of topics, among them the VillaReal disgrace ~ he was angry about that and so was I, then and now. I'd like to think it will not be repeated, but worry about some of our more fickle fellow supporters.
Meantime, good luck for the op, Mr Chairman, and thank you for your time over a beer. That's Celtic.
P.S. SanFran_Tic I will miss Dunfermline match ~ travelling to SF that day _ slumming at the Ritz Carlton, Nob Hill. Any tips on SF ~ must sees?
-
For me Nakamura was the outstanding player on the field today. Great delivery for the Balde goal. Hand in the third goal. Two sublime pieces of skill on the touchline.
Can we lay off on the 'he could be a player'? He is a player who is still settling and is an still an absolute joy to watch. Perpetual motion.

Alex Frae Govan....I think you hit the nail on the head.....better decisions. I'll bet a lot of watching video, thinking and talking went on last week. Strachan really does appear to be a coach . He helps make indivudual players better, as well as making the team better.
Aiden tried his 'risky' passes in their half. He took his risks north/south, ie through balls, as opposed to east/west, where an interception can kill you.
He'll make more mistakes in the future. Hopefully, they will be different ones, and they, too will be eradicated. 3 or 4 more years of improvement. He might be a player!

Delia
I would not read too much into the seat numbering conspiracy. Perhaps the seats they mentioned are non-reserved i.e. available to any man as they are catholic with a small c not Catholic with a big C.
I could be mistaken and maybe there are Catholic numbers. I remember being confused in school when my teacher mentioned imaginary numbers. My answers of eleventeen and fivetyone resulted in a mark less than C.
At present my favourite two numbers are 4 as in fourth and its preceeder 3 because, tonight, that's a magic number.

Ha, ha. Just home. How pish are Rangers?????????????
Apart from their paucity of talent, did anyone notice that the the bile and hatred spouted by their fans was directly proportional to how bad their team played???

The reason Celtic won today was that they had players with a spark. Maloney, Petrov, Nakamura and McGeady all had a flair to them that they couldn't match.
How impressive it is to see the midfield and forwards inter changing and their movement is great. Remember in the 70's it was difficult sometimes to see where Hood, Dalglish, Macari and Lennox were playing because they all had great movement and good awareness. We now have that again and it's great to see.
It's still early days but we seem to be on the right track.
Well done Gordon Strachan. Those of us who doubted you in those early days are now in your debt.
-
Exiled in Aberdeen....
you won't like my comment on McGeady any more than you liked my comment on Nakamura. Sure, they are all players. They are wearing jumpers and are on the park.
The questions raised in recent weeks about Nakamura are all fair ones. Ranging from will he settle in Scotland, to can he take the stick? Questions were fairly raised in relation to Lubo and Larsson. They sure answered them. Nakamura will let us know between now and the end of the season whether he is a skillful lad or a real star. I know where my money is, but the proof is in the pudding, and the first few bites have been excellent.
I don't know if you will remember who replaced Bertie Auld in the Celtic team. The guy was a decent footballer, but he wasn't a player in the way Bertie was. That's my point. I think...:)
Philsmybhoy....Don't want to speak for SanFranTic, but Alcatraz can be a memorable visit. Very different from your usual tourist thing. Have a great trip.

Two games in ten days and in over 180 minutes of play our goalkeeper hardly touches the ball.
He did have a couple of saves and three or four crosses to take today but over two games he was practically redundant.
Can anyone remember when a Celtic or TFOD goalkeeper was so underused in two games like this.
I believe this shows how far our midfield and defence have come since the shambles earlier this season and watching young Aiden tracking back to force the play or a tackle was excellent.
Could someone please tell Artur that other games might be a bit more hectic and he might just have to work - we won't be playing teams as poor as this every 10 days.
-
p8ddy-you are correct.
CQN-I,m sorry I took the bait.

On the subject of Nakamura from what I could see just before the second goal when he first got the ball out on the touchline he looked up to see what was on.
He didn't like the options so dragged the ball back then turned the defender (was it Murray?) inside out and THEN he saw the option and whipped in a vicious cross that just cried to be headed in.
It is that kind of intelligence and patience that we lacked last year. His sense of what option is the right one is becoming more evident with every game.
He and Stan looked bushed today and if we can still win 3-0 with two of our most influential players only in second gear (albeit they ran their hearts out whilst on the park) then some team is in for a right going over when they all go in to top gear.

Steady n Shamrock!! That channel between McManus and Camara was lookin' mighty ropey during the firsthalf - so much so that I remarked to a chum at half time that WGS would be well served to send a rocket up the posterior of the defence at half time.
Just when you thought it was sorted!!
Off to open another bottle of vin rouge.

Thanks for the good wishes Paul, i appreciate it.
Slowly but surely we edge forward toward WGS's vision of a Celtic for the future. We have a long way to go yet, lets not pretend, but the signs are promising.
Steven McManus has been a revelation so far, excellent again today, and Lenny looks like he has been on the ginseng, he has another yard in him this season.
Can he and Keane play together? I don't see why not, he and Paul Lambert did.
Now for match of the day to see what they are saying about the wide eyed irishman.
-
Hi Paul,
As you can imagine I'm finding it hard to take any positives from today, after a decent first half only one team came out for the second.
P8ddy :- I thought that a very fair comment about Mr Ferguson, he as you say loves his team and would be in the stand if not a player, I would imagine he is hurting more than any other Rangers player at the recent turn of events this season. I find comparison between him and Mr McStay very apt, both were fans who lived the dream, but perhaps not at the best of times.
GarBhoy 9.18 :- As far as I know his wife supported Celtic, her father is a season ticket holder (bought by Mr Ferguson) at C.P
-
Edward whats the general comments on the rangers boards re today and mcleish...........also is the Mint ( and his media management\spin ) getting any stick?
-
DeliaSmith :- I have never heard of protestant or Catholic numbers before, could you tell me what thread it's on you have piqued my curiosity. as a side note, if both denominations have their on numbers then isn't it time for equal rights for atheists in numerology
-
Nice to see you Edward.Brave of you to come on.If I was of your persuasion I would be very unhappy with the lack of fight in my team. One positive note though-many Hoops fans thought that we would be kicked off the park over the two games but on the whole it was a fair contest.Maybe they just dont care enough.
-
With regard to Catholic numbers. There are many myths circulated about Catholicism by its enemies.I wouldnt be surprised if that was one of them.
