Morning Paul,
Agree with your summation of Nakamura San. I noticed this during the LC game, that he is more willing to get involved with tackling.
Biggest plus for me yet again, having stated back in the summer that we should build from the back, was that Artur was in full and total command of his box.
This guy, if he can keep this level of performance going, can be a bigger influence for us tham goram was for today's opponents, a genuine match winner.
He exudes confidence, which both the defence and the support feed off.
Hail! Hail!
Curly
PS I also thought that the ref didn't have a bad game either - flak jacket and tin hat firmly on!!
-
Naka's booking was a joke. Ricksen wat at it and the ref bit.
Do you think Don McVicar will be in the papers on Monday talking about the Andrews ''tackle'' on Maloney and Namouchi on Super Mo??

But fur then night ah leave ye wae this
Shades of Alba
You can keep your toon to wander roon, you can keep your cities fair,
you can keep your land-locked lakes and lochs, cos the place to stand and stare,
is where the sand and rock strewn shore, meet the pools of foam filled life,
where the breakers beat and the seagulls scream and the wind cuts like a knife.
Aff ye go ye romantic lud, yer winds are full of pain,
for colours on the hills abound and life comes wae the rain,
where the heather's green, the bracken's brown and the mosses every hue,
where the land beneath my feet is sod and the earth is rich and true.
Yer both of ye well aff the mark, ye've held our country down,
the place tae see the heart of man is the city and the town,
where brick and mortar fashioned lives, where the smiddies' hammer's call,
formed ships of steel from caloused hands that made this world so small.
Whit's a' this row yer spouting forth, wae selfish ignorance,
Yer senses miss the subtleties of nature’s simple dance,
Each step and twirl, each bow and spin, each partner on the floor,
Is touched by music's haunting spell and the sum of parts is more.
For no wan colour shades the map, no wan contour its height,
No wan sound and no wan voice has a stranglehold on right,
We're like a friggin' jig-saw, in a state that's been confused,
The task's to find the place to put those bits we huvnae used.

Paul, love the article title...."Surrender"...says it all.
Nakasan is indeed the man.He is growing into our type of game here in Scotland and we are growing to admire him immensely.
Also thought big Boruc saved us when Fergie broke clean thru. Thought the goalie would be rounded or a penalty might occur. The big man nipped it off his toes clean as a whistle.
Phils my Bhoy, you were asking about San Fran...as well as Alcatraz our favourites are a trip on the cable car, Chinatown (its huge), Fishermans Wharf and Ghirardellis chocolate factory. Ther eare some weird but entertaining street performers at the cable car terminal at Fishermans Wharf. Dont forget your brollie and have a great time.

At each stage of his imprisonment he had known, or seemed to know, whereabouts he was in the windowless building. Possibly there were slight differences in the air pressure. The cells where the furious orc fans had beaten him were ground level. The room where he had been interrogated by Hartson was high up near the roof. This place was many metres underground, as deep down as it was possible to go.
It was bigger than most of the cells he had been in. But he hardly noticed his surroundings. All he noticed was that there were two small tables straight in front of him, each covered with green baize. One was only a metre or two from him, the other was further away, near the door. He was strapped upright in a chair, so tightly that he could move nothing, not even his head. A sort of pad gripped his head from behind, forcing him to look straight in front of him.
For a moment he was alone, then the door opened and BBJ came in.
'You asked me once,' said Hartson, 'what was after goal 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that comes after goal 101 is the worst thing in the world.'
The door opened again. An HBOS accountant came in, carrying something made of wire, a box or basket of some kind. He set it down on the further table. Because of the position in which Hartson was standing. Murray could not see what the thing was.
'The worst thing in the world,' said Hartson, 'varies from individual to individual. It may be a Maloney goal , or losing control of your masonic assistants in black , or by big Bobo Balde, or by investigative journalism, or by the corosion of the union or World class Nakamura and Mc Geady or fifty tainted other events. There are cases where it is some quite trivial thing, not even logical.'
He had moved a little to one side, so that Murray had a better view of the thing on the table. It was an oblong wire cage with a handle on top for carrying it by. Fixed to the front of it was something that looked like a fencing mask, with the concave side outwards. Although it was three or four metres away from him, he could see that the cage was divided lengthways into two compartments, and that there was some kind of creature in each. They were Facts.
'In your case,' said Big Bad John, 'the worst thing in the world happens to be Facts.'
A sort of premonitory tremor, a fear of he was not certain what, had passed through Murray as soon as he caught his first glimpse of the cage. But at this moment the meaning of the mask-like attachment in front of it suddenly sank into him. His bowels seemed to turn to water.
'You can't do that!' he cried out in a high cracked voice. 'You couldn't, you couldn't! It's impossible.'
'Do you remember,' said Hartson, 'the moment of panic that used to occur in your dreams? There was a wall of blackness in front of you, and a roaring sound in your ears. There was something terrible on the other side of the wall. You knew that you knew what it was, but you dared not drag it into the open. It was the Facts that were on the other side of the wall.'

PRSO - if this is RFC's one superstar player then we needn't worry. At times he is no better than a carthorse.
Overall RFC lived up to there billing as a team 4th in the SPL.
The most pleasing thing about our victory was it was achieved with Nakamura, Maloney and McGeady all "lightweight" but true footballers. With two of the three goals excellent in creation and execution.
Neil Lennon must also be mentioned. Maybe impossible but after we went 2up he seemed to increase his efforts at closing them down and making absolutely certain there would be no way back into the match for them. A true Celtic captain in the class of McStay, McGrain, Aitken, McNeill!

Paul,
The heading of your article is most apt..
I LOVE watching the progress of GS and his bhoys...every game continues to shows something else to be positive about....
Today though I did not have the usual intense emotional pleasure that comes with beating them....'Taking candy from a baby' comes to mind...
Is it the begining of the end....
Is that why we are playing Hearts at New Year..?
All day I could not help thinking about the quality of understanding that we did not have available today...
This squad keeps getting better...and individuals are improving too....
Keep up the good work bhoys...
Kudos to GS and his handling of the media once again...
-
YES! Got the score right, only 1 out of 3 scorers predicted correctly though! (bbj)
well looks like big ecks gonna get his jotters.
dont let me hear any rubbish about curbishley, le guen etc. murray is a bluffer of the highest quality. remember the ronaldo for rangers stories? the vialli for rangers stories? they will settle for the two jimmies or butcher - if paul is right they might not be able to afford them!!
cant help thinking we let them off the hook again - still take 3-0 against them any day of the week
-
Ghost - no phantasm are you - I salute you, as deserved.
Elly Ganter - the best, best, BEST

Don't get carried away. If we are to be Championees this season, we need to look at the team in 2nd, not the team in 4th.
-
Pablooooooo
Our success depends not only on our conduct, but on the honesty of the conduct of the other teams in the SPL (as usual). Expect easy wins for the REAL forces of darkness and difficult matches for WGS's team.
Paranoid? Moi?

No better day to post first time. I will keep it short because of the possible in vino stupid ass effect. The possession play, passes, flicks and feints today were sublime and I will be still smiling through difficult weeks to come. My only regret is that we cannot compete against worthier teams for the remainder of the year in this restricted season. Still, a pleasure delayed may increase. All the best to all the entertainers here who display verbal ballskills since we cannot live the real dream.

That should, of course, be 'John Cormack"
The east coast confederacy of dunces/DOBs is MUCH MUCH worse than anything in the west - Beware!!!!
-
I wanted Aiden McGeady to work hard on his physique; he has.
I wanted him to find an extra yard of pace; he has.
I wanted him to track back like a professional footbal player and not just give up the ghost when the other team has the ball; today, especially in the first half, he was magnificent at chasing and tackling, nicking the ball off the opposition, and even getting a kick up the arse after sprinting back 30 yards to rob Ferguson.
Oh, and the wee man scored as well!
I'm told he just loves the fact that the manager is at every training session and reserve match.
We could have lost a truly talented player had it not been for Wee Gordon's devotion to duty.
Aiden has scored two goals in three games and been Man of the Match twice in three games.
And let me assure you of this: There is a lot more to come from this wee genius.
Oh, and Frank O'Hagan's band were fantastic down at the Clockwork in Mount Florida.
The perfect end to a fantastic day.
G'night!

Can't remember when we have ever been so mediocre and still managed to comfortably beat them 3-0. I agree with Curly. Thought the ref did ok too - that said, it was made easy for him by the total capitulation of our opponents yesterday.
Murray was deserving of a card - he tried three times to get Naka San before actually catching him. A couple of nervous moments from the defence left me hyper-ventilating, but all in all a good day at the office.
One complaint though - when are they going to fix the sound system in the North Stand? Can't hear a blooming thing through the PA.
(Not bad if that's my only complaint, eh?)
Hail hail.

Excellent piece Paul and a fine Headline.
Your prediction of a generation in the dolldrums for the blue hordes looks good from where I'm sitting.
What a mess.
I think every player in a Celtic jersey played superbly today combining to play as a unit, which was fine to watch.
You mentioned a passing movement in your report. I took a little time to count the passes....
In the 54th minute Euan Murray tried to outrun Naka on the Celtic right.
Naka looked beaten, but managed to get a tackle in to win the ball for Telfer, who passed the ball to
Petrov,
to Hartson,
to Naka who flicked the ball
to Lennon,
to Petrov,
to Naka,
Hartson,
Lennon,
Balde,
McManus,
Camara,
McGeady who brushed off 3 Rankers players before passing,
to Naka,
Hartson,
Balde,
Lenny,
Telfer,
Petrov who backheeled it
to Maloney,
to Hartson whose touch just let him down, allowing Fernando Abbasong to make a tackle for a corner.
50 seconds and 21 passes of excellent football from Celtic, which was rewarded with a goal from the resultant corner.
Magnifico.
-
Fatfink....spot on. Just watched this sequence. Another thing that struck me is the workrate of the entire team after we scored the 3rd. No easing off. We did give them some territory, but the effort to close people down was actually elevated.
John's right. We are fitter than last year.

first timer paul.usual disclaimer. comms check.

Came back from the game, celebrated with a few shandies and fell asleep during the real/barca game. Sitting watching 'demolition derby' just now, whilst intermittently glaring at the league table for extended periods on the beebs website. This serial insomniac can't get no sleep.
This is so good.
End of uninformative diatribe.
p.s. Paul, i demand one of your now customary(!)welcoming messages in your next posting. ;)

good morning coatbridge D.R.!-
I,m off to work with a serious hangover-that supercelt can take some beer.....
Great day yesterday-miles ahead of rangers-whose freefall continues.
any broken crests for one of the biggest crisis' in rangers history?

-
have a good shift Noel.
Enjoy reading the papers today.
I'm going for a broadsheet that is now the size of a tabloid(berlinner format i believe). hopefully the quality will not have changed.
I don't think i'll be getting any nominations for that 'contributor of the year' award.
-
Great Result although not as convincing as the CIS cup game.
5-0 over two games.
Two Clean sheets.
A new and better McGeady emerging, with tracking back becoming a big part of his game the same as Maloney in recent times.
Naka improving on his defensive game too.
We are still progressing and probably money to spend in January and summer.
A Semi final date with Motherwell and the chance to deny them a final place as repayment for Black Sunday, and hopefully meet Livi in final with Mr Lambert.
Hibs dropping three points which i think is more important than them stretching away from Rangers.
Who would have thought it after the ibrox game?
Still a lot of hard work to do to shake off Hearts and Hibs but looking good!
-
Alan Rough said it would be Celtic 0 Rankgers 2. Edward our friendly blue blogger said it would be 2-1 to the Rankgers.
I have no doubt that Edward will come on to give us his thoughts now that his team have been thrashed twice by the mighty Celtica. Well he will when he finds the rest of his half eaten spam fritter, right off it last night he was :).
Yes there is a lot of good play going on but for me the diffence in this team to last years is ARTUR BORUC. Mistakes are still being made I can think of two that Macmanus made but there was old Artur the sweeper a ten million pound keeper if ever I saw one.
Ecks mistake, yesterday swapping keepers again.
It looks like Dado Poorshow will be out for some time now, what will they be like without him.
Jeffers = Mince. It is reported that Porto are running scared at the thought of Oliver Bernardo coming back, well you would be :.)
All in all another good day at the office, hope wee Seans not too badly injured, that was the only downside. Nice to see Thommo going bonkers when he was on the bench, team spirit and all that.
I was sitting thinking what would we have done to them if we had been able to bring Magic Sutty or Beattie on in the last 20 minutes 5-0 ?.
-
I do apologise to Edward I didnt see last nights blog something to do with the black stuff and me diving head first into it- What a night.

P8ddy, 9;56pm, last night:
very childish reply!
-
Thought BBJ comments after the game were spot on. When are Celtic going to get credit for being a very good side? Don't get me wrong I am enjoying all the negative publicity that our pals are receiving but there should be more focus on the positive (without the obligatory mention of 5-0 Artmedia!) McGeady now tracks back which was the main thing lacking previously. Both full backs have come on leaps and bounds and Lennon and Petrov are showing clearly why we do not need Roy Keane, although the marketing department might disagree.
Did anyone else see Chick Young face on the Setanta pictures after either the 2nd or 3rd goal? Was classic.
Does anyone have the fantasy football transfer code for this week?
-
Mea Culpa,
Just before I get off to the Mass, could I just apologise for the absolute drivel which I posted last night.
At times, especially after enough Guinness to flood the Gobi I really am a waste of Cyberspace.
Apologies again.
Could I also say hello and good morning to the 30 or 40 Rangers casuals who tried unsuccessfully to create havoc at Glasgow Cross last night.
It was about 5'oclock I think when they rounded the corner from London Road onto Saltmarket and immediatelt smashed in the windows in the Tolbooth bar.
I was standing outside the newsagents, wearing my colours, waiting on Tony and James coming out of the Empire Bar, and as the ambassadors of Mr Murray, the Queen and all things rancid ran towards me the women and kids on the street started to panic.
In a vain attempt at encouraging some miniscule modicum of civilisation I remonstrated with them. What an utter waste of time!
As they surrounded me in came the frirndly kicks followed by the courteous ministrations as they smashed my face in. It was then that the cop cars swept round the corner in Sweeney fashion.
Unfortunately they didn't seem to notice the melee on the pavement where I was being used in a replay of a Rangers training session.
Still alls well that ends well and I will pray for their wee souls this morning.
BTW the coppers told me it was my fault for provoking them!
My last mempry of them is as they scattered towards the Clyde to meet up with the other stinking rats who inhabit the gutters of society.
I salute their 132 years of dignity, their fine example to the youngsters in the Rangers society, their bravery in the face of one happy celtic fan and about 5 mothers and 8 weans.
You do your club proud..
SCUM!

It was posted last week that a wise old chicken crows after the egg has been layed.
My fearful nature does not allow me to boast of win's before matches, for fear of tempting fate.
Today is a very satisfying day in the TT household.
Mrs TT ,and Tiny TinyTim are basking in the glow of two wonderous OF victories.
My thanks to Mr Strachan for those wins .
We are a long way, from being able to compete on the European arena at the level MON had us at.
That must be the goal of Mr Strachan.
I felt that the scoreline in the league cup tie in no way provided a true reflection of Celtic's superiority.
I felt the scoreline yesterday flattered us.
But all things remaining equal WE ARE BETTER THAN THEM.
Hearts are now our major contenders for the title.
It is not a given that they will capitulate.
As always the Jan transfer window will be very important.
We still need to improve the quality of our full backs.
Although both players have improved since the start of the season.
If Stan is sold then we must replace him wisely.
BBJ should not be sold.
If we need to reduce the wage bill, Sutton would be the one that i let go.
He has been a marvelous servant, better than i could have imagined.
He has however only particpated in 66% of our competitive matches since signing .
At this stage in his career this statistic looks more likely to increase than decrease.
Age is unimportant.
It's a combination of fitness , ability ,attitude and confidence that counts.
Lennon can play on for another full season.
Mr Strachan should keep him.
As for Roy Keane ,i would love to see a fit Roy Keane with the right attitude at Celtic park.
His ability and confidence are proven.
Mr Strachan must establish what his injury problems are.
He would be an expensive waste of money if he were to spend most of his time in the treatment room.
As is now proving to be the case with Chris Sutton.
Times move on, Mr Strachan must now win the league, and he will may yet meet my my desire for him to win me over.
But my doubts will not cease until he has us competing ,and winning in the Champions league.
For now the TT family thank him for two glorious victories.
I am going to enjoy my Sunday lunch and the re-runs of the match.
Hail! Hail! The Celts won't fail.
-
Estadio
Shocking stuff.
To all those professional hacks who obviously tune in to CQN.
This should be reported in your daily newspapers.
Yes Celtic have some moronic elements.
But not on the scale of Rangers.
They believe they have a divine right to win.
And when they don't(sometimes even when they do) they reap havoc on amuch larger scale.
Don't just say they are as bad as each other.
It's not accurate.
It's lazy journalism.
In fact the lack of headline news on this type of incident makes you lot culpable.
How many Celtic fans have to lose there lives for you to give a balanced view .
You lot gave much more publicity to The Rangers trust comments on being allegedly victimed for sectarian abuse at the last of match.
Shame on you.
Are you all so biased ?
You are all part of the sectarian problem that persists.
For evil to be done it only takes a good man to stay silent.
Estadio, get on to the press, let them know.
The people who attacked you are scum.
The journalists who read this and do nothing, aid and abet them.

Shelbourne1916...
I'm sorry you found my reply childish, but I have to ask, what was childish about it? The fact I have an opinion or the fact I was consistant in what I said? I can't make you read my ramblings correctly, and if there is a misunderstanding it'll be more down to my appaling grasp of the English language than my lack of an ability to assess (in my opinion) traits in players. However stupid, or ill informed, I have an opinion, if you would like to convince me otherwise, I'm open to that, but lets discuss my actual opinions, not what you would like my opinions to be.
Estadio...
I'm really sorry to hear about your "incident". I hope you're not too badly hurt. It's a shame that it's dangerous to do something as innocent as wearing a green and white top. As has been mentioned by other posters, it's a pity the media wouldn't pick up on this - although I can guarantee they would pull out the age old line that it happens on both sides. I'm aware that we have some lunatics in our support also but certainly the ratio of violence on "revenge" attacks in distinctly weighted toward Celtic fans being attacked.
The only thing I can say to console you is this - Your bruises will heal and you'll get back to normal, they will never know what it's like to be normal or well adjusted.
/p
-
you are rambling as usual. I agree veryone is entitled to an opinion but what was the point in saying naka is built like larsson physically other than to infer that he has the same physical capabilities, I just think you like the sound of your own voice, and find any tiny little loophole to prove you are always right, like a spoilt brat who is never wrong!
-
On the Celtic official website , In the Match report article we have been giving a damning report on our support during yesterdays game.
"Yet, if there were nerves within the Celtic ranks at this stage, it should be acknowledged that they can hardly have been eased by a home support who appeared to have taken a vow of silence, tested only by a now-familiar compulsion to groan and grumble at every misplaced pass. True, it was preferable having no songs at all to enduring the kind that spewed from the away end, but it certainly didn’t reflect well on the Hoops fans – who were often more of a hindrance than a help to Strachan’s team – that they only found their voices once all three points had been secured.
Fortunately, that didn’t take long. " (taken from official website)
I think this is a bit harsh on us? Look it was sub-zero temperature and an early kick-off. Singing was a bit limited because in effect people did think before they shouted. This is due to the call for restraint and common sense by all parties concerned. The guy who wrote the official match report probaly did from a cosy position somewhere with a plentiful supply of bovril to keep him warm. I understand his comments but they are in my opinion a bit harsh.
Fair play to BBJ answered the ORC chants with true style.
Big liam (hungover)but happy!
-
Sorry to hear about that Estadio.I hope you are well.
Charging into women and kids, sums those types up really. Don´t suppose we should hold our breaths waiting for the press to report these things.
-
Estadio: I hope you are well! You should have taken the police constables number and reported him. As those who turn a blind eye to this are as bad if not worse than those who committed the act. As p8ddy said your bruises may heal but they will never heal they are and always will be SCUM.

Estadio
your plight brought back memories of the 6-2 game for me. After that game we were in a pub in the merchant city area, about a dozen "rangers fans" burst in throwing bottles in all directions. a young girl was cut on the head needing medical treatment. I will always remember the police response that day "well you will sing songs"OUR fault then!!!
-
Really sad to read that Estadio.
I hope your wounds heal quick and you haven't been too scarred mentally. Take an extra 2 pints over the norm of the black stuff today for medicinal purposes!
PS I hope God doesn't listen to your prayers for the scumbags that jumped you yesterday!!
-
Hi Paul,
AlO'Bundy :- Like yourself I spent last night diving head stuff into liquid though probably for very different reasons, even if the cause was the same. I hate making negative posts and last night could find nothing positive, today It's not so much a positive as a hope that it will now be realised that an almost total turnover in staff ranging through both coaching and players, I would keep probably around half a dozen players and let the rest go, it may mean writing off next season, but I'd rather have a trophyless season watching what Paul would call a work in progress than the half hearted totally inept display that was the second half for us yesterday. BTW you are a very uncouth man, all couth men know that spam fritters are an abomination and that it must only be eaten cold, with home made chips and branston pickle :)
Estadio :- What happened to you last night was a disgrace, I honestly hope that you were not badly hurt and that the imbeciles who did it get their just desserts. I only hope that one day either yourself or on of the others there can one day see someone in a Rangers top do a kind act or help in some way so you can see we are not all of the unthinking moron brigade.
-
Good show yesterday by the Bhoys..........I had a wee laugh at the Sunday Mail today.......their stats said.......score.....Celtic 3 Rangers 0. ... shots / attempts on goal.......Celtic 2 Rangers 6........I had to scratch my head at the one, nothing like a HURTING journalist. (just ask wee Chick Young)
Paul67 or Kojo.......you spoke about Roy K....and Celtic.....what time scale would you's put on him coming to us??
-
Estadio,
Hope your ok.
Typical police reaction. i agree with one poster. get the name of the officer who said it was your fault and report him.
Emjay
-
Sorry, but not especially surprised to hear about what happened Estadio, it's a shame we have to have anything to do with people like that, but at least you're alive this morning, and that fact that we won 3-0 hasn't changed. You're one of the better posters on here as well.
It seems that we managed to take the steam out of them yesterday but dictating the pace of the game. Although all fired up, they weren't allowed to engage in a physical battle, which shows that they were out thought as well as out played. Watching the game, I honestly didn't see how Roy Keane could fit in to the current set up at Parkhead
lots of sore heads this morning! Good thing it's Sunday
-
Estadio. Like the others who have posted, I hope you are not too badly hurt.
Well, what a "Glenn Hoddle" that turned out to be!! Well done to all of the players yesteday.
I will also partake in a (smalll) portion of humble pie. After the CIS game, I had a wee go at McGeady. Yesterday, I thought he gave any doubters the best riposte; by performibg on the park. Well played, young man. Keep it up and you can become a Celtic great!!
Did anybody think that Andrews' tackle on Maloney, was a sending off offence? Yet again, a tackle that was at least bad as Thompsons' one at I****, is treated leniently. As anybody who has read my previous posts on this matter will know, these types of tackles have to be eradicated from the game.
fatfink. What a great name!! Do you have wings that make a "shield of steel"?
A hearty HAIL HAIL!! to you all.

Another fantastic result from a team visibly growing in stature as every game passes.
Gordon Strachan has turned things around magnificently - utmost respect to him and the team and yet more proof (if it were needed) that I know nothing about football management.
Rangers are now in utter disarray - even the press are now turning on their own. You can almost feel their anger - they have stuck by them only to be let down. Mr Murray now looks very foolish. I wish them only harm.
Estadio - I've been on the end of a similar beating (tho many years ago). We were attacked at Drumchapel station for having the temerity to win. The police are of course useless - remember this country does not want to face up to the truth.
Some concerns - I don't really know how I feel about Keane - but what I do know is that we must strengthen in January - we don't need to spend millions - but we must keep the momentum going. The board must not repeat the mistakes of the past.
Big Liam's post points to me other concern - the powers that be at the club are scathing of the support. The official website is now more interested in posting articles against its own support rather than tackling some of the more serious issues we face. This is a massive own goal and only perpetautes the feeling of us and them. This must stop.
Special mention for EdwardUrsus - the one thing that unites decent supporters is the pain we feel when things are bad. Know how you feel!
-
1-0 to the Dons. Jamie Smith

well one of the teams yesterday looked like they could do with signing roy k-and they weren't wearing hoops!
not a lot of enthusiasm for him coming among the fans sitted near me.roy has more baggage than louis vuitton
good result, even if the first half was a bit shaky, especially at the back
league table looks good this morning.

Edward, fair play to you for coming on this morning. I agree with you re the way forward for your team. A year ago, I shared this view with some of your ilk. It was sensible, I thought. You've got your training facility. Invest in a coaching system (not aye-ready-ex-gers). Keep Klos and Ferguson, spend whatever money you have on local talent, and give it a couple of years.
The response I got was that winning is everything, and rangers don't stand for 2nd best, etc....
On reflection, I am glad that murray hasn't gone down the road that I suggested. Keep paying big money to mercenaries who don't care....::)
Would my approach be acceptable at Celtic? I think so. If your team had been great this year, I think many of us would have supported Strachan's approach with our younger players. Some wouldn't, that's for sure, but by and large, we'd be supportive as long as we could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Whoever has to rebuild rangers needs copious amounts of either money or time.
But hang in there...::)))
-
Hi all
This just gets better all the time, what a difference GS is making and I definately think it in the most part down to his hands on approach to coaching and fitness.Improving these areas mean you do not come out second best when the going gets tough.Something that was evident last season. The media are giving us absolutely no credit and are focusing on our rivals problems.Congratulations to the players, management and support we will go places with this approach and style, allied to having a quality squad to chose from.Im sure GS is not the type to take his eye off the ball and will prevent minds wandering of the object of the exercise WINNING against whoever you play against, which brings trophies and titles.
Frankly I could not care less for our rivals problems they well deserve them and I hope they continue to mount.

1-1 at Aberdeen. 65 mins gone and hearts looking the better team.
-
Lots of talk about Roy Keane. Sign him. Don't sign him. It's not quite that simple. Aside from the question of whether he really would come, any decision would be made by Gordon Strachan in the context of other decisions he has to make.
1. Can we keep Petrov? That's the first thing that needs sorted. Every other decision will be affected by the outcome to this one.
2. Should we keep Sutton and/or Lennon for another year? If Stan goes, we will need to keep one of them for sure. If Stan stays, we will need to free up some payroll. Strachan needs to try and predict how effective these two will be 18 months down the road. Not an easy task.
3. Balde...some believe that we wanted to move him on, and that while he ended up staying, we would want to move him in January. However, his performances have improved to the point that he's as good as we could hope for. Do we risk trying to move him?
4. If we keep Balde, what of Du Wei? I think there is something we don't know about this lad. I don't think he's ever even been on the bench - even though the likes of Varga was there yesterday.
5. Thompson has 18 months left.... do we move him now? Probably the safest bet, given the left sided options we have now. But if Stan doesn't re-sign, and Sutton and Lennon can't/won't be kept on....?
6. How far away are the next generation? Lawson, Gardyne, etc. I'd guess they are a long way, at least 2 years if they make it at all. I base this on the reality that has taken most aspiring young players 3 years of first team involvement (including training) to either pass or fail.
All of this speaks to the uncertainty of who stays. There are greater uncertainties associated with who might come in. Like everyone else, I have quick and shallow responses to each and every issue that faces Celtic. However, I think we all know that these decisions are never made in isolation. They may look simple on the surface, but it is rarely so. No wonder Mrs Strachan rarely gets him to work on the garden......
-
Who cares what the meedja think? We know that 95% or more of them, are clowns of the highest calibre. WE, as Celtic fans, will give them all the praise going. The ploy of focussing on Rangers' problems, rather than give credit to Celtic, is nothing new. Remember when McLeish first came, and we won the league by a distance? The meedja's reaction was "judge him when he has his own team". Well, he has his own team now and they are still mince!!
The perceived logic of the meedja at the start of the season, was that we had signed duds and that they had signed class!! Ignore them. It is the best way.

Aberdeen 1 Hearts 1 FT
-
2 points clear at the top with better goal difference.
-
Estadio, I hope you're OK and you've proved you're a better man than most by your forgiving attitude; don't think I could bring myself to pray for them.
I thought we played no better than alright yesterday, yet still were convincing winners. The highlight of the game for me (apart from the goals) was wee Bazza's burst out of defence being stopped in its tracks by Aiden McGeady running him down and robbing him. I feel Aiden has improved beyond all recognition since he came back into the side at Falkirk. When Beattie and Zurawski return, WGS will have a real selection headache, as neither McGeady nor Maloney deserve to lose their place.
Andrews' "tackle" on Shaun Maloney was an absolute disgrace. Does anyone agree that Maloney was a marked man after the break, as was Nakamura who was lucky to escape injury on at least three separate occasions?
Finally, I can't believe (actually I can) the praise continually heaped on wee Bazza in the press. The Sunday Herald actually have him down as a credible contender for MOM! Since '98 when I think he first played against us, I have seen ONE game when I thought he had any influence on the outcome of the match, that being the 2002 Scottish Cup Final, when Lambert, Lennon and several other Celts were helped ON to the pitch and thrown oxygen bottles during every stoppage. Is it too crass of me to suggest that Captain Fantastic's "cultural" background is the reason for the fawning attitude of the Scottish press towards him?
Anyway, 15 clear and it's not New Year!
-
Paul and all my happy brethern in the Celtic Movement,
Oh, it's great to enjoy sitting at the top of the league, especially with rangers in total disarray. For a while, I agreed with you Paul about them doing well in Europe might work to our advantage but they are so dire that I hope that Porto destroy them and then Hibs do too.
Here's hoping MIH collapse for good measure.
Oh, it's great watching a Celtic team playing the Celtic way and with our 6th choice striker too causing mayhem. A generation of domination was it?
We shall not be moved.
-
Estadio,
Was saddened to hear of the attack on you. I'll be praying for you of course but someone who can pray for those who did what they did to you is in a class of their own. Good man. Like your stuff, by the way.

Aberdeen v Hearts-in a bad tempered matcg , Mark Hately said both teams had their periods.:-)

Your assault yesterday is no trivial matter, and unfortunately, not uncommon. I am pleased that it has not interrupted you indelible spirit. Hope you are on the mend.

Kojo
Do you have any inside knowledge on the extent of Roy Keane's injury problems?
Does anyone know if he has missed so many games this season due to illness or a fall out with the management at Man U?
-
tinytim- as far as i know RK has broken bone in his foot and is still recovering
-
Kojo
Your post suggests that Celtic know how much Roy Keane want s for remuneration.
And that we are willing to pay it.
Brian Quinn say we can't afford what he is being paid by Man U.
This leads to some interesting questions.
Will he be paid froma separate source via Dermot Desmond.
If this were to be the case then would he be willing to do the Stan ?
-
ekbhoy68
Thanks for your response.
I believe you are talking a lot of metatarsil.
-
My dear friend, TinyTIm,
I have no knowledge, inside or otherwise, re the lingering doubts or the current Fitness status, of Keano.
It is fundamental, before any contract will be consummated, that a stringent Physical would be under-gone by the Player in question.
That being said.... there is no need to worry on that score.
Hail! Hail!
Kojo.
-
Keane was due to play in a reserve game bedofore he was summoned to appear before Ferguson.
-
Estadio - hope u r all right, regarding the cops it is basically your luck what cops attend to you if they are tims i have found they will be more helpful but if they are from TFOD you have no chance and would probably get lifted for the hell of it.
2 yrs ago after a celtic v TFOD match there was a bit of trouble in the pub , cut a long story short the ambulance was called for me and when the paramedics arrived one was a tim and the otherwas scum (sorry paul but he was) basically he laughed at me and the other medic pulled him up. I should have reported him as he probably thought i was drunk and wouldnt do anything.
Great result and i thought the crowd was ok yesterday especially THERES ONLY ONE GORDON STRACHAN.
Sit in the lower lions stand and what a laugh at the end with ARTUR doing his EASY,EASY impersonation.
-
KOJO If Roy is out of contract do we have to wait till January?
-
Currently doing the rounds on the txt messages:
Sing to the tune of Willie Maley:
And he gave them fanny jeffers and alex rae,
he gave them nacho novo, fanfan and big marve tae,
and most of the football shit,
has been signed by that big tit,
and thats why we all sing eck must stay!
-
sanfran deal would still have to be done in January
-
Roy Keane was a few matches away from a return.
The number 1 mission is too keep stan, With talk of Roy coming it might help Celtic if Stans wage demands are nuts(which i dont think they will be)
The IF over Roy Keane is all to do with wages if he plays for the same wages as the mid celtic earns then im all for it. Shirt sales plus hard core keane fans watching in England are both ideas worth looking at.
For those saying Neil Lennon does the same job as Keane, Keane right now is still a Far better player plus he scores Goals
If he plays for the shirt and also sells a few, whats the problem for taking him on till the end of the season.
him and Neil fighting for the same role I think is a good idea, Its not a long term fix but it would get more people in England watching which wouldnt harm our EPL chances
Badger
-
Weeron all good questions. It really is a matrix rather than linear issue with Stan the key node on the decision tree. Once this is understood, the dominoes will tipover. Is the strategy that Keano the replacement for Stan. Net-net on the wage front if he can be talked down to Stan’s salary, Stan goes for his 3-5m. Nice piece of financial stewardship,. Nice piece of football management – a little opaque at this time.
-
Apart from the fact stan is 26 and keane is 34, not really good busines
-
My dear friend, Tinytim,
Mr. Quinn, did indeed make that so Obvious Assertion, on the Present WAGES that ROY would be relinquishing, in contrast to his Weekly Stipend
that CELTIC COULD AFFORD.
That is a Truism!
Remember......... RORY..... Is asking and reporting....... A very subtle NON ISSUE!
Much ADO about NOTHING! A Typical
Ploy......... in the BIG "C" ARENA!
As I have POSITED!
THE BALL IS IN THE COURT OF KEENO!
WAGES? NOT AN ISSUE!
Satisfaction and Ambition?
DEFINITELY!
Question concerning the Coming or Going of STAN........
Not in any way Shape or Form, Related to the Coming(?) of the Great One!
Hail! Hail!
Kojo.
-
Keano - better than LENNY mmmm dont think he is or that he is worse, both a winners but how many times has LENNY been out injured since coming to his beloved hoops and well KEANO the last couple of years i dont think he has made more than a half a season due to injuries and resting him at games.
-
Good article Paul and a good summation of Naka's growing contribution to the team. Just watched the second half again. The move leading up to the corner was sublime. Fatfink summed it up well except for the last touch - BBJ's first touch was pure class, only Ricksen covering at full-back stopped him from scoring what would have been the goal of the season.
All the bhoys put in a great shift yesterday. Thought McManus was rock solid as was Camara. Mo is showing great composure when on the ball now and it is a sign of his growing stature when you see him giving Thomson a hard time for getting out of position. Naka was superb - dare I say we have uncovered an improved Lubo model.
I thought we lost some of our shape when Thommo came on - he seems to find it difficult to merge into the new structure of play we have adopted.
All in all we are in terrific shape right now - long may it continue.
Hail WGS !!
Estadio - hope you are doing OK today.
-
Would anybody have been concerned for rangers if we had actually played well yesterday?....nah me neither.
But just imagine if we had, it would have become EMBARRASSING!.
KeaneNO!
Just a few questions.
Would Gordon Strachan accept him in to the dressing room?
Where will he play?
Who will we drop?
Will the younger players think this is another setback on their journey to the first team?
Will Keane accept no longer being the captain, as well as taking orders from Lenny and Stan?
How much will we pay him?
How much should he pay us?
and what about the weather?....
Sean
p.s Estadio What happened to you is EBARRASSING, shame on them.
-
Estadio: Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with TFOD.....Your urbane response balanced out bad karma with good...Keep writing! And setting up your stall in poetry corner!
Weeron: While we may not have the exact same perspective...you are so correct in what you say about the complexities of the situation...Johnboy gave me plenty food for thought on his celticblog.....
I am curious about Du Wei...anyone have info...?
Please no one accuse me of being overconfident but I do believe Dunfermline are going to be totally flaired with our football next Saturday.....
Happy days...
-
mncelt
I think there were two situations yesterday when Mo was over-composed. He tried heading back Boruc twice through traffic. He should have put the ball in orbit. Still the positive his self belief is so high. I would hate to see him dent it by being cavalier.
Boruc was unimpressed, resulted in two corners, as they were to untidy for the Pole-in-Goal.
-
mncelt,
Were you watching the same game???
Not to be negative after thumping them but, the only light they saw all day was due to the positioning of mo and mc manus, both have been playing well recently but yesterday they were caught out a few times with passes behind and between them and telfer too was lucky namouchi is a poor finisher!! Against a better team we would have been punished!
And naka is good but he is no Lubo!!
-
Anyone have a clip or pic of Chic Young’s face on the 3rd goal? I missed it, was supposedly 'a picture'. Showed his true colours – unless he was listening to St. Mirren game on an earpiece and they just conceded a 3rd to their ancient foe at that exact moment. Perhaps in the other universe where he came from St. Mirren are the establishment team. Sympathy pain I guess……………eh Chevalier Charles de Bald pas Bold
-
Kojo thanks for your response .
I did think that Mr Q was playing word games.
Back to my earlier question will Did be funding this or Celtic?
-
Kojo
sorry my last post should ask is Dermot Desmond funding this?
-
San_Fran and Shelbourne, agree that there were a few rocky moments in the first half - I was commenting on the second half performance which I thought was outstanding from both Mick and Mo.
-
Remember talking to a publican of many years in Airdrie who always dreaded a celtic win in an old firm match because the rangers "fans" would always cause trouble while if Rangers won there would be far less.
What struck me was this was a guy who was neither a celtic or rangers fan but someone who dreaded the reaction of dignity f.fc fans.
Also he added he would never say that to rangers fan because he did not want to be seen as a celtic fan or what would their reaction would be.
-
Well there's a wide spectrum of views on RK's future for sure but what is Celtic's motovation here?
I think it must be at the instigation of DD but not in the Romanov style - more of an Irish thing. And why not.
It depends of course on which RK you get but that is all down to the negos.
He may be able to slide into the First Team or not. If his attitude was right he would be there to help Celtic on any level. He wants to get his badges and we have the best hatchery (that we know of) in the vicinity.
Shirt sales.
Upping the Profile.
Poking Sky!
The right man at the right time but only if DD gives him the right brief.
If it's done intelligently and with the right purpose - I'm all for it.
If not - well, we've all seen it before with Roy.

Does anyone know the extent of shauns injury and has the good christian (that big marv supposed to be) came out and apologised for that shameful tackle sorry assault
-
My dear friend, Tinytim,
All I am prepared to say re your question.......
Roy's Remuneration is taken care of.
Celtic's normal Wage Structure,SHALL NOT BE BREACHED!
It all depends on how much Keeno is KEAN to join his CELTIC HEROES!
He is 34years old......... It will be his Last HURRAH!
Money is definitely NOT A STUMBLING BLOCK!
Hail! Hail!
Kojo.
-
For all the talking in the meeja about Keane's wages being too high and the no comment status taken by Celtic on the issue. I'm sure that behind the scenes the people at celtic know: if Keane wants to play for Celtic and how much he wants in wages. All is surely known by Strachan and the board... whether we go for it or not is a different matter, only time will tell.
-
Kojo, i understand your need not to breach confidentiality .
You are a trustworthy confidant to have.
I will make my own assumptions therefore that Mr Desmond is pulling out all the stops.
The man is very much maligned.
He is due far more credit that he ever receives.
I am a fan of both Mr Q and Mr D.
-
Kojo,
always look forward to your posts. How do you think WGS would play keano and also would he be happy to be just a squad player and not guaranteed a game cause i cant see where he would play him just now. Lenny is mr celtic, capt marvel just now, stan picks himself , naka the same and aidan has started to come onto his game again but getting even better if he keeps up to the standards of yesterday. So where do we put him in a team that is starting to gel and looks like romping the spl
-
tinytime
My guess would be that Roy Keane will have reached an agreement with Man Utd that pays him off until the end of his contract provided he does not play in the EPL
The SPL is of course a different matter - anything we pay him will be more than he would get sitting at home on gardening leave.

EKBhoy 6.34 :- I wasn't at the game and haven't seen it on telly so I can't comment on it, if it was a bad as you say then you have every right to castigate Mr Andrews for it, however I feel you are wrong in impugning his christianity, he is one of those few folk who openly tries to live by the tenets of his faith
-
Forgot to mention, i am now now the proud owner of a fine piece of celtic memrobilia(sp?) of our man of the match.
Thanks off noel90 who is not just a sound cyberman but a true gent in the real world.
Once again. Thanks noel

Shelbourn1916.
watching the game yesterday we had the same discussion.
The word that was used was
the ZONE between camara and McManus was the area they were getting most of the joy.
-
supercelt
I felt the game lacked a little bit of edge because our city rivals(the team on the pitch) were petrified of really getting hammered.
At 1-0 down they were encamped behind the half-way line conceding possession to Celtic - this was because if they pressed to try to get the ball back they knew this would leave gaps that Naka, Maloney and McGeady would slice through
Careful possession football will win a match like this every time but is not what the more vocal elements of the crowd expect from this fixture
I would have thought the official site could have spun this fact better - "Celtic fans admire the surgical dismantling of the team from Govan and refuse to lower themselves despite bigoted provocation"

The day after yet another victory over them, and how sweet it is - I'll never get tired of watching Celtic beat Rangers, no matter how bad they get.
The sweetness tinged a bit with sadness after reading of the talented Estadio's plight. As a visitor from the East, I had a few celebratory pints in that fine establishment called The Tolbooth with a few cousins over from Donegal the night after our last victory. I can appreciate the mayhem that must have been caused inside that tightly packed wee venue.
Hopefully those losers didn't do too much damage to you.
Some things never change - and one of them is the vastly greater amount of violence abounding in the aftermath of Celtic OF victories compared with Rangers.
It's not a new thing and good examples of this are cup finals in 1966 (League Cup not Scottish) 1980 (Scottish Cup) and 1989 (Scottish Cup.
Anyway, that apart I'm in fine fettle today.
JohnBhoy - a great post about meeting Aidan's dad and shaking his hand. I agree with Paul that Naka was the main man in the destruction yesterday-especially after watching the match again on TV.
But.....for the thousands of us whose ancestors hail from Donegal - like Aidan's - the wee man's 3rd goal was a special moment indeed.
It's strange going more "mental" at the 3rd goal in a 3-0 victory than the 1st, but that's what I did yesterday. Well done Wee Man - and well done to your dad as well.
I'm off to read the papers now, then I'm going to rewind the tape and watch the 3rd goal again...and maybe try and do a freeze frame on Chick Young's joyous expression.
Good Night Bhoys.

My dear friend, Vertwolf,
You, my friend have just presented the key that will unlock the KEANO CrackerJack Box!
That is the EXACT SCENARIO, that is taking place.
Manu. is responsible for the SUM OF 100,000 POUNDS Per WEEK (!!) for the REMAINING (STARTING ON JAN 2006)SIX Months of KEANO'S EXTANT CONTRACT!
Not TOO SHABBY? HUH?
As I have kept repeating.......
KEANO'S Monetary Future is well taken care of......at least until next June!
The Answer to will he come or no is up to Keano, himself!
Where will he fit in.......in the CELTIC HEGEMONY?
I have NO IDEA!
However..........(?)
What a wonderful problem!
Hope Roy of the Rovers makes the decision to Play for The JERSEY that He LOVES!

CELTS EYE THUN DEFENDER JOSE
CELTIC are keeping tabs on FC Thun left-back Jose Goncalves.
Hoops gaffer Gordon Strachan has been tipped off about the 20-year-old Portuguese-born defender (below) and had his scouts spy on him in the Champions League clash against Ajax.
More checks are planned on Goncalves who moved to Switzerland when he was two. He is to receive a passport that will qualify him for the national side.
The former Venezia star is highly rated and Swiss boss Jakob Kuhn is understood to want him in his squad for the World Cup Finals in Germany this summer

Aiden McGeady is a wonderful player and is deserving of his moment in the sun.
Last season too much pressure was put on the boy and he carried the burden of being virtually the only creative player in the side in his first full season. Now he looks more relaxed because Naka and Shaun ease the burden on him and give him more space.
One more thing. Every major club in Britain wanted his signature as a teenager and some offered big money under the table. As a Celtic boy he chose HIS team and there's many a 'tim' in professional football turned their back on Celtic and went elsewhere especially for financial gain.
Good on you Aiden son and may you entertain us for many years to come.

I can't but help thinking that the "Roy Keane for Celtic movement" is motivated for all the wrong reasons. You get the distinct impression that if a deal is done, it will all be part of some kind of "Irish Mafia" setup between Dermot Desmond and his cronies.
I think that we need to face facts. Roy Keane is not the player he was even 2 seasons ago - and his lack of prowess and fitness seems to make him more psychotic by the week.
How long do you think it will take before he would be mouthing off in the Celtic dressing room that Naka, Stan, Maloney etc. would never be good enough to pull on a Man Utd. shirt? Motivation is all about the stick AND the carrot - with Keane you get the definite impression that his idea of motivation is all about the stick - and a bloody big stick at that!
I think that people are looking at this through green tinged spectacles and buying into the "life long Celtic fan" story tied to the Irish connection.
The man is a walking liabiity - a time bomb waiting to go off time after time. There isn't a barge pole big enough.
I would not be the least surprised if deep down, WGS doesn't fancy Keane at all, but is feeling obliged to tow the party line to keep DD happy.

Just read Estadio's harrowing account of last night and it reminded me of a story of 2 Liverpool fans who came to parkhead when The Jock Stein stand was opened v Liverpool in August '98.
Our 2 scouse friends bought 2 half and half Celtic/Lpool scarves and walked along the Gallowgate into the city on a pleasant summers night after the game.
AS they got into the City they ran into an orange walk (??!!) and were chased fearing for their life. As luck would have it they ran into the Nile bar, which as most of us know was a right huns' bar. One was hit over the head with a bottle and both thrown on to the street, all for wearing these daft scarves.
Just when it couldn't get any worse a Police van came and they were 'huckled'. When they explained their plight the van dropped the lads off at Bairds bar with the sound advice of when going back to their hotel not to wear any colours. They didn't buy a drink all night and had some hangover next day when I met them.
I salute Strathclyde's finest !

They are that johnm, just about mind you.
Anyone else i would not mention it ST. Anthony but as he take every chance he gets to shout about how much of a chritstian he is maybe he deserves a bit of ridicule.
He was very chariatble to the celtic attack yesterday. Now that is a chrstian act he should be proud off.

Hamptontim....I put my trust in the character and mettle of WGS....I believe he is the coach and the manager...It must be down to him....and Keano of course...
I think (naively perhaps) that after earning 100 000 a week for so long....money begins to lose its allure...That other motivations come into play...
...There is nothing more satisfying that being part of a 'project' you believe in....especially when it is with like minded people...Professional sportmen like the rest of us are most productive when we are believing in our work..
If he arrives....It will be because GS wanted him...and because he wanted to enjoy his work..ethic..
If he does not arrive..it will be for good reason!
But no matter what..we will keep winning..!

Supercelt those 2 young men where on my bus. The full story is a bit sketchy but they entered a wrong bar near the ground (80% sure it was the louden tavern) just getting the info now mate.
-
supercelt-
did you mean P45DDY?.
-
The 2 young men went to hospital , they where discharged and went to stay with the rest of the members of my supporters club in a hotel. They were sorted out with room and got transport home today. My Mate says that they walked into the bar (why they didnt know) realised they where in trouble and someone stabbed one of them in the back.
Not sure on the louden bit of the story though but it was a bar near parkhead full of huns.

I am pleased my guess was correct and that we can absolutely agree on this point
Interesting that top footballers get treated like top executives!
It is now clear we could get 6 months from Keano for not much outlay but it is next season in the CL that his experience would be most valuable

Posted pretty much the same in the last thread but here goes anyway.
Andrews tackle was a shocker. Don McVicar ... we wait with baited breath (ha ha ha).
FC Dignity fans - 90 minutes of bile and filth culminating in the "There's only one Marvin Andrews"
After we had kicked the ball out at the half way line several times for players of both sides to get treatment - thanks to the other lot for returning the ball to us by kicking into touch at our corner flag. Really dignified behaviour by a club with 132 years of unsurpassed dignity.
To all fans who have had trouble with the Police at games. Get their number which they are obliged to give to a member of the public who asks. You should note that because of shortages in the overall police numbers they have to call on morons from outlying areas such as Kilmarnock who don't like being dragged up to the big smoke just to do football duty. My experience is these clowns are the worst.

I really hope we do NOT sign Roy Keane. He was one of the best in the world 5 years ago, but not now.
1) He misses too many games
2) He rarely manages 90 mins in a four man midfield
3) He has an appalling disciplinary record. Imagine how Scottish referees would react to his combative style
4) He would not be good for dressing-room morale
5) He is now no better than what we already have
6) It does not make sense to buy a 34 year old for the short-term when it could potentially lead to disillusionment in our youonger players
7) His attitude of wanting to play for Celtic before he retires is (maybe unintentionally) patronising
To sign Keane would be a step in the wrong direction. Robbie Keane, maybe, but Roy, sorry no.

Rioskorrie – from the other thread, how is Schiedt playing anyway?
And as for the spray paint, against R*ngers it’d be no use, there’d be paint all over the park!
Canajunbhoy – from yesterday’s previous thread, thanks for the good advice, unfortunately due to work commitments I don’t really have time to organize a C.F.C.
(It’s difficult enough trying to keep up with my obsession with CQN !).
As I was involved with the Johannesburg C.F.C some years ago I know what it entails, so no it’s not possible.
There’s a pub in Portland, (Kells), which used to show the games, but, situated in the wrong end of downtown Portland and the small TVs it wasn’t much of an attraction, and I believe no longer provides the service.
I tried the official TV but, a) the picture quality was so poor sometimes you couldn’t recognize the players, and also 50% of the time it wouldn’t let me log on.
Repeated correspondence with Celtics representatives led (of course) to nothing.
If the Celtic service improved I would naturally prefer to give my cash to the club.
Estadio – Terrible story, hope you are well, praying for them? You’re a bigger man than I am my hat is off to you.
My opinion of the Glasgow police was very poor before I left Scotland, pity it seems that nothing has changed.
Edward Ursus – Condolences on the death of your team yesterday.
Your reaction to the attack on Estadio does you credit, free beer the next time I’m in Glasgow.
EKBHOY68 – Maybe RK broke his foot trying to get it out of his mouth, someone else suggested a code of conduct if he’s signed, how’s about an oath of silence as well.
StAnthony – Any idea how many ex- St. Gerards pupils are on CQN?
Another beautiful day out here on the edge of the planet, the Jam Farts dropping two points – it surely can’t get better.

Shelbourne/supercelt I agree with you on the defence yesterday. Apart from Balde, who was excellent, McManus, Camara and Telfer did not look as comfortable as they have been in recent games.
The contributed to Rangers having more attempts on goal than they have had in years at Celtic Park.
Loved the animated gif supercelt, I’ll keep that one, thanks.
Edward, I am totally with you on the Marvin issue, the irony was not lost, ‘forgive us our tresspasses’ and all that. For the record, I think he is a smashing big guy.
JohnM, can I admit to something here? I was pulled more than one way regarding the Hearts result today.
Since the appointment of Rix, and the other recent goings-on at Tynecastle, I am no longer worried by the ‘Hearts test’ (i.e. worried if they win).
On the face of things, Rangers came out of the weekend well, they played away at CP and lost no ground on Hibs and only a point on Hearts. Is this a revival (joking).
If I can paraphrase you …
You’re Fourth in the SPL
You’re Fourth in the SPL
You’re Fourth in the SPL
You’re Fourth in the SPL
HamptonTim, I heard Derek Johnstone imply that maybe DD wanted Keane, and not Strachan and laughed.
Let me tell you it straight: Gordon Strachan wants to sign Roy Keane.
The media will play with the material they have, but Gordon (and his extended backroom team) want the player., listen to your uncle Kojo on this one.

re keano,
our central midfield consists of Lennon/Petrov. Cover is Lawson, a wean(very good wean mind),Virgo/Sutton out of position or Pearson/Thommo in one.
In order to keep the wage limit as Kojo has mentioned, Petrov may end up being sold.
IMO Keano/Lennon would be be excellent together or either with Lawson to bring him on or hopefully either with Petrov. Three top quality central midfielders is not a bad problem to have.
Also Roddy Forsyth and Bill Leckie were on the radio earlier and both reckon it is a terrible idea. I thought tabloid journos liked controversial sportmen coming into their world to sell copy?? Not these boys..giving up extra stories and sales all for the good of Celtic.
Running Scared??
-
Paul,
Being on the same wavelength as Derek Johnstone must be the biggest insult that can be hurled at a Celtic supporter...I stand suitably chastised.
I will take your word for it that GS does indeed want Roy Keane, although I still suspect that there may be a bit of the "Coolmore Mafia" influence in the background. If Keane does show up at Celtic Park, I just hope that he leaves his excess baggage in Manchester.
-
Firsbyhoop 9.05pm
I think we need to look at the bigger picture here. Celtic are in a strong position to win this year's league but nothing is guaranteed. Hearts may not capitulate as easy as some suggest. Then there is the challenge from Hibs.
We must strengthen and ensure that the league becomes our top priority. As far as I am concerned Roy Keane can provide that added drive and resolve which will make crossing the line in first place that little bit easier. We need cover for the inevitable injuries which will crop up. Assuming we will not be stretched financially can we really afford not to take him on board?
As for this talk about him being a disruptive influence in the dressing room well he must have done something right as Captain of Man U...what was it, 7 league Championship medals a CL medal.Incidentally, I see those Man U colleagues he chastised all put in stellar performances next time out. Perhaps his words were vindicated !
-
Roy Keane.....if WGS wants him, fine. However....
There have been many fine posts over the months on CQN as to where the team needs strengthening. Fullbacks? Sure. But no-one ever argued that we needed a player like RK.
We have all come to the view that the New Celtic were younger, faster, cheaper. We have been even been picking out old folks homes for Sutton, Thompson and Hartson.
So, all of a sudden RK comes available, and we are hearing 'yes...exactly what we need'!!! I don't get it.
As for money...if he's keeping his 100k a week till June from Man U....then why would he want any money from us? We've all said we play for the Celts for nothing. Here's a guy who is in a postion to do just that.....
And while I'm getting myself worked up...:)....if we end up a few hundred grand short of keeping Petrov, I'll be a lot less than amused...::(
Continuing this rant....Marvin Andrews...BAD tackle. It is interesting how the media promote certain personas. Petrov 'goes down too easy in the box'...how many times have you seen that repeated? They fabricate this image or reputation as a diver.
Prso, on the other hand has been booked and or rebuked in 4 of his last 6 games for diving...when do we hear this brought up? Exactly.
So what's this got to do with Big Marv? Think about Bobo. Think about how Andrews is portrayed in the media. Nice guy, gentle giant, etc.
Doesn't matter what he believes or even what he intended. Tackle from behind. Late. Dangerous. Career threatening. No chance of getting the ball.
Red card.
Next!

Sorry to hear about your run in. Had a near similar experience coming out of CP. I think it was the game where G8 or whatever he's called now got sent off and Alan Stubbs scored the winner. Somehow managed to get myself near Janefield St just as they'd been let out. a big gang of them came runing down punching and kicking anyone in the their way. Was only saved as I was going past at the same time as a woman pushing someone in a wheelchair.

You've got me scratching my head on that one!
I honestly can't remember any followfollowers playing, in any case we had a green shirt with gold edging, white shorts and green socks/gold tops, I think I've still got my old shirt.
And I'll dig in the old photo album see if there's any dodgy faces in them.
Unless you're refering to Barlinnie prison, which seems unlikely as the cops would need to arrest them first, get them in court and one of Scotlands judges convict them - no highly unlikely, nice thought though.
Visiting FollowFollow it's easy to see that some of they're contributors may indeed have been inmates of certain institutions.
Anyway how do we communicate on the first issue?
Thanks

Vertwolf, when signing deals get to this stage, I stop asking questions, as the info should not be disclosed.
I have been expecting him for a couple of months now. No idea if anything will get in the way, but I would be surprised if he was not pictured in the hoops holding a Celtic scarf one day soon.
HamptonTim, I see how that must have sounded, sorry.
I actually don’t mind big DJ. You know where he stands, and he does not ‘mess’ his own doorstep. I would rather him than some Celtic supporting types I could mention.
-
Jeromek67,
I think that the thing that is noticeable about Roy Keane is that his temper seems to get worse as he gets older...age does not seem to mellow the man. That's OK if you think that dressing room "teacup throwers" (Graeme Souness?) are motivators, but I think that guys like Gordon Strachan, Arsene Wenger and Paul Le Guen have a style and manner about them that offers so much more in player development.
If we really want to see off the challenge from Hearts a.s.a.p., I would suggest that we would be better off snapping up either one of Hartley or Skacel - I would guess that that (a twoser!!!) would just about put the icing on their demoralisation.

ROY KEANE
I don't want him. If he is coming - only a 1 year contract to maximise the commercial potential makes sense. Once all the Irish fans have bought a KEANO top then let him retire gracefully.
On where he should play - I'd like hime as a sweeper with a back 3 of Balde Mcmanus and Keane.
As I say i'll accept him...reluctantly - if only to see him in the hoops at Ibrox noising up the suicidal huns!!
-
Big Eck must be delighted that the Roy Keane story has managed to cover up another poor performance/result. He seems doomed and as WGS knows you don't kick a man when he is down as you never know what is round the corner yourself. Good to see that he wasn't "happy" with a 3-0 win over the huns that takes us 15 points clear albeit we have now to worry about Edinburgh in case they keep up the recent good run. Sends out a good message and keeps the players focused on the job ahead.
As for Roy Keane if WGS wants him, thinks he will make us better, and isn't a make weight in punting Stillian Petrov then bring it on. A fully motivated RK still dominates CL and EPL games (maybe not as much as before) and is a mobile passing type that would fit the current style we play.I take it he won't be bringing his Cork compatriot LM back with him (I'm sure he was instrumental in enticing him to OT then seems to have critised AF for buying crap players - LM being one of them)
As for our own youngsters I think WGS has worked wonders on all of them especially Aiden who had a horrible start in the Euro tie. If we could get a couple of proven full backs I think we can go from strength to strength.
A good weeken and well done to WGS and the team - meanigful test passed with flying colours.

Hopefully not too late to chuck in my tuppence worth on yesterday.
It was so obvious that two of our key players (Naka and Stan) were under the weather from internationals. That said, didn't they do well! And, we played most of the 2nd half with one fit striker (not BBJ)with 3 top class ones sitting in the stands.
TFOD had, er, Prso, one over rated big haddie if there ever was one, and the hapless, hopeless Thompson. I think our Thommo would be a better centre forward than him!
Watching from the Taggsybhoy stand, the atmosphere did seem a bit muted. A bit like we expected to win and doing them again was no big deal. Customary awesome never walk alone before the start.
Setanta's gear, maybe everyone else's is too, I don't know, is right next to the travelling support, so I heard their bile more than what decent singing was going on.
Jock Brown was amazing! Told us before the game that Rangers had never lost to Celtic on Nov 19th, the relevance of which means what exactly? Even with 10 mins to go, held out hope, saying that Thistle had come back from 3-0 down recently. Other providers have a "balanced" commentary team during Celtic/Rangers games.
Hately is no better or worse than any other well meaning amateur, but even he wouldn't claim to be unbiased. Is Jock supposed to "balance" his pro-Rangers bias? Sky at least have the vision to bring in some supporters for these games. If anyone from Seatnta is reading this, get Edward U for the next game and any number of our guys from CQN for some real entertainment and enlightenment for us armchair supporters!
Contrary to others, I though Bazza had a good game. Edward U, he is your only player. Battled to the end, which was even more creditable given that he was unfit to captain Scotland last weekend.
Naka never wastes a pass. A visionary. What a steal! Hopefully wee Shaun is ok. He terrifies them.
Ambivelant as so many are about RK. He is a winner, no doubt. I'd have him on this basis, if no other. But, the money must be right. And I'd sacrifice him for Stan any day. I think his role is as a sweeper, not a Lenny holder.
On a European night next year, I think his presence could be comparable to that of Lotthar Matheus (apologies for spelling if you're reading this Lotthar). Any of us who play, know the value of a terrier, an organiser and a fighter.
He is much more than this and, for 18 months, could add real value. He is loaded though and can't need the money. We shouldn't break the bank for him. I actually think he would be good for our young guys to bring them on. He should be walking across broken glass to play for us. He could always play for Portsmouth instead...for the dough.
Spare a thought for Big Mick McCarthy though. Having a bad time at the moment. Maybe he's not the greatest manager (though not the worst) he was one hell of a centre half! RK treated him (and ROI)shabbily. Gordon will need every man management skill he has to keep him in line.
-
Hampton Tim
I think you have answered your own question - The relationship between Roy Keane and Alex Ferguson only had one way to go - increasing levels of china distruction
A different type of relationship between manager and player may be all that is required to bring out the best in RK - WGS won a couple of EPL championships towards the end of his career and perhaps he thinks RK could deliver even greater things to Celtic
VertWolf
-
Vertwolf,
I suppose that they are down to the polystyrene beakers at Old Trafford with the amount of China that has been chucked around by RK and AF.
I hope that Keane does not make the move to Celtic...but if he does, I sincerely hope that you are right and I am wrong.

Why are Celtic the only team who are not allowed (!) to have a strong squad? Did anyone see Barcelona's bench last night? If, or when, in Paul & Kojo's case he signs, it will be another hammer blow to TFOD. Maybe plan B is buying Barcelona!
I heard, from a good source in the Gallowgate, that at the next OF game Celtic are not going into a huddle but are doing a Triangle to let rangers see what 3 points look like!

My dear friend, Newtagggsbhoy,Hampton Tim,
One Question...... Have either of you met ROY?
Most of the stories that are floated by the Media, are based on a very small sprinkling of Truth....
Remember, the Big "C" sells.....
Almost every day I see stories that are written concerning incidents within my sphere of cognizance, that I know for a Fact, are EXAGGERATED and ELONGATED Beyond recognition..........
How do I know this?
Good question...... They say it

There will be NO TEMPER TANTRUMS in the PARKHEAD DRESSING ROOM........
REMEMBER,when ROY Pulls on a CELTIC JERSEY........
HARK? THE HERALD ANGELS SING!
Here's Hopin' Roy Makes the trip to PARADISE, permanent!
Hail! Hail!

-
Kojo,
I take your point that I have never met Roy Keane - but I never met Adolf Hitler either.
I think that we have seen and heard enough about RK both on and off the field to be certain that he is not a pussy cat who is about to roll over and have his belly tickled.
Maybe if we are going to get RK as our collective Celtic christmas present, we should insist that there is a "sanity clause" before we accept.
...I will most definitely get my coat.
-
Let me share a private wee moment with you:
I employ the best sales person in Scotland. Said person joined the team five years ago with a history that would ‘frighten the French’ (to quote someone we all know).
Best move I ever made.
Sometimes the best are intolerant of anything that gets in the way of their success, failure hurts so much.
I have not seen enough of Roy Keane to assure you of his fitness, but if this were assured, I would believe that I could manage him – for failure has no place in my lexicon of Celtic – and I am sure that Gordon Strachan believes the same.
Celtic are not yet ready to achieve to the level I want them to next season, the squad is very much open to additions.
-
Noel 90 @ 10.57 :- Probably all those who's probation orders prevent them returning to old haunts and friends of the hooped kind ;-)
-
Paul
"Sometimes the best are intolerant of anything that gets in the way of their success, failure hurts so much."
You hit the nail on the head with that one. If you think back to any 'bust-up' concerning Roy Keane then the majority, if not all, are rooted in the fact that something or someone is preventing success. The Ireland issue - he didn't believe the training was professional enough. The recent issue at Man Utd - he didn't think some players were giving enough - I think he was proved right by the fact the players improved their game.
The point in, Keane gets his bad-boy image from demanding (albeit in a hot-headed manner) complete professionalism. I for one would welcome any perfectionist into the team...
Strachan strikes me as a similar personality to Keane, obviously much calmer but the want for the team to continously improve has a reseblence to Keane's attitude.
I don't think Strachan would have a problem with Keane, unless it was the two being too similar.
-
wouldn't football be so much easier without customers and staff.
-
Wasn't Strachan punted out of Old Trafford after a fall-out with Sir Alex? And he propelled Leeds to the title the next season. I'm sure wee Gordon and Roy have a lot in common as regards will to win and not settling for second best.
And were we not told to avoid Bellamy like the plague by the self-same media no-brains who are desperately trying to nix this deal?
Celtic have some very strong characters in their dressing room. But all are totally committed to the success of the team.
Keano's problem at Old Trafford was that he felt Sir Alex had brought in too many chancers whose hunger for success did not match his.
If the money is not an issue and if wee Gordon wants him, we MUST sign Roy Keane.
-
Oregon and St Ant, another ex-St Gerards boy here but from the St Saviours side of Govan. I'd wager that there's a few more of us on the site.
On the RK issue I'm very happy to go with WGS's judgement on this. He clearly has a plan for the development of the team and has known about Keane's likely availability for a while. So, if he signs him it won't be a knee jerk reaction.
It would be interesting to see where he plays if he comes and I too can see the sweeper role beckoning (remember Stanton in the late 70s). I know that he was a very different type of player but many midfield players move back as they near the end of their career.
In addition, to do well in the CL next season we will need some experience to complement the youth and imports; Keane would give us that.
-
Roy Keane for Celtic?
Only one answer,a resounding yes.
That any of us could think that Celtic should pass up the opportunity to sign a player of his character, ability and experience I find remarkable.
I doubt that there are too many Man U fans delighted at the news of his departure.I believe one of them was on here on Friday saying we should take him if available.
Roy Keane would improve this Celtic squad and first-team and that to me is all that matters.
I look forward to seeing him in a Celtic strip soon.

Keane or two defenders?
We still have the strongest squad in Scotland. Underlined by having 3 strikers out against Rangers (twice) but if these three injuries were in defence would we cope?
On the face of Keane goes against the cost cutting measures needed by Celtic but he would pay for himself. I'm sure his name would sell any remaining tickets for home games and No 16 shirts would fly out the door and over to the Emerald Isle and Manchester. However defence is the priority and I have never been convinced of Keane at centre half. United tried it but it didn't work.

I don't see why people are looking for centre-halves... in Du Wei we have the 'Real Deal'. IMO he will, if allowed, become an all time great. Virgo I'm not sure, but he was brought in to do a job.
Also... someone said earlier that they haven't heard anyone in the past months looking for a Keane type player - I beg to differ. Many, including myself have felt we need a hartley type who can get stuck in AND play some football, Keane is superior version of Hartley. Also, what happens if Lennon does get injured? I've suggested Petrov would be perfect in his role and would give even more than Lennon can, but many (and I myself) would not want Petrov 'wasted' in a more defensive role.

Gents,
here goes with my tuppenceworth on roy Keane.
1. Has this been instigated by Mr. Desmond or Mr. Strachan?
Does gordon want him, or is it too good a marketing opportunity. This should come from Strachan NOT an anonymous Celtic spokesperson.
2. i think Roy is a great player, but will he want to play against Falkirk, Livingston etc.
3. How will he interact with our current squad. I'm remembering DiCanio's attitude towards most of the celtic squad at that time.
I await your wrath...

PAULOVER FOR ECK
LE GUEN Le Guen is set to be named Gers boss
By Keith Jackson And Neil Cameron
SOURCES in France were adamant last night that Paul Le Guen could be just days away frombecomingthenewmanagerof Rangers. Reportsyesterday insisted the former Lyonbosshas alreadyagreedinprincipletotakeoverfrombeleaguered boss Alex McLeish after meeting with Ibrox chairman David Murray.
But Record Sport understands Le Guen has asked for more time to make a final decision. In fact, the talks were held near his home town of Rennes in Brittany last Tuesday - just 24 hours after Murray had appeared on TV to give McLeish a public reprieve.
It is not yet clear if Murray travelled to France to table the offer personally.
It is also likely that Murray has had similar discussions with other potential canditates but friends of Le Guen, who currently works as a scout for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and a TV pundit, believe the Ibrox position is his if he wants it.
Last night a source close to the man who led Lyon to three successive French titles said: "Le Guen had a meeting on Tuesday with the people of Rangers.
"He has been made an offer and it's one that really interests him.
"He has not given Rangers his answer yet but it seems that something might happen after Wednesday."
McLeish insisted after Saturday's 3-0 Old Firm defeat he will still be in charge on Wednesday night when Rangers take on Porto in the Champions League.
He said: "That's the plan. I'm still privileged to be the Rangers manager and we are now preparing for the Porto game.
Meanwhile, Porto boss Co Adriaanse is ready to hammer the final nail into McLeish's coffin.
The Dutchman was delighted to be given the double boost of Rangers losing to Celtic and danger man Dado Prso missing out with a hamstring injury.
While it is all going wrong for McLeish, Adriaanse's side thrashed Academia 5-1 ahead of the Group H meeting with the Scottish champions.
Adriaanse said: "Our result at the weekend has given us much confidence for the visit of Rangers, especially as they lost 3-0 to Celtic and will be without Prso when they come here.
"To be honest we didn't play very well for the full 90 minutes because there wasa spell in which we didn't do as well as we can. But I'm delighted with the result and the fact that we managed to score five goals.
"We have plenty of attacking options for the Rangers game and we are all looking forward to it now."
Porto defender Pedro Emanuel said: "We're in a delicate situation in the Champions League.
"But if we win on Wednesday the fight is on again and we will be back on course to qualify
