    100th post on previous thread!

Today i would play as follows:

    Boruc
    Telfer Virgo Mcmanus Camara
    Keane
    Nakamura Petrov Maloney
    Hatrson Zurawski

Keane would fill the holding role and Lennon on the bench.
Although i doubt WGS listens to me.

I would drop everyone that played against Clyde, sack Strachan, burn the team bus, throw away my season book and scarf, sell the ground, and start again providing dinners for kids with rickets, then I’ll be happy.

Jong, I would go with that, with Marshall, Pearson, Lawson, McGeady,Wallace and McGlinchey,Thompson as subs.

A rest for Lennon today methinks.

Here's to exciting attractive football. Full pelt at Killie from the off, style and panache. I want nice football Naka to spray passes all over the field, I've a feeling he will score from a free kick, its due.

    Hail Hail

    Celtic ? Killie to lose

Forgot to say......we will of course lose our early first 15 minute goal, it's only fair, we do seem to have this habit of gifting the lead, so we can fight harder.

    Boruc
    Telfer Virgo McManus Camara
    Naka Petrov Keane McGeady
    Zurawski Maloney

I would leave BBJ out today. He has to get his head together, and WGS has to show the players that if they're not performing they won't play.

Mind you if he was to do that from last week there would be 11 changes :)

off to the boozer for some pre-match nerve settling....

I think the first post thing is OK - would think it was great if I got first - 1000th is nothing once you've (accidently) done it - 1st is the big one.

    Or 60,000th..

    Noel - you can't possibly be 13 or 53 / 63 / 73/ 83 - so its either 23 / 33 or 43 - as I am 43 and you talk like someone older than 23 I am going to guess 33??

Watch the difference Magic makes today.

His presence will change the shape of our playand his runs will free up Maloney to make surging runs at the Killie defence, end result BBJ to score from the space provided.

As a matter of interest my friends and i have a Killie season ticket holder with us today. So if you see the Polis called into the main stand just across and down a couple off rows from the press area you'll know i won't be posting tonight, as London road nick aren't logged in to CQN!!!!!

I'm hoping for a return to the sort of football we played against M'well that Wednesday at CP. They had me believing we were playing like champs elect. The hearts game had me believing they have heart and are willing to fight and had a fitness level that might come into play more over the winter months. Last week had me believing... well least said and all that.

Well good luck to the team and good luck to Roy - he is in an enviable position for a player - Man U and then Celtic? That lucky dog!

And a big good luck to all us we deserve a lift.

Posted this last night but on the wrong blog.Eejit!!(sp).
This team has absolutely nae chance of getting picked to-day,but it would be my side.
    Boruc
    Agathe Virgo Keane McManus
    Lennon
    McGeady Petrov Maloney
    Naka
    Majic
Keane at the back temporarily for his experience,Lennon between the back four and the mid-field.This allows us to be flexible to suit. When we are attacking Stan moves forward,Lennon moves into the hole, pace and creativity down the flanks with Aiden and Shaun.Free role for Naka to open up their defence and Majic pulling them all over the shop, creating holes everywhere.Their defence wouldn't know who to mark.
To take a leaf from Kojo's book,
    Celtic 89 Kilmarknock 0.
P8ddy good to have you back, glad you and Paul could sort it out like gentlemen.yours john-b.

    My dear friend, JohnG,

I have read your request for an explanation, regarding the SEEMING CLASH of SENTIMENTS ....Mine being diametrically opposed, to the one upheld by the Li'l ADMIRAL,in the PETROV matter.

The difference lies in THE REPORTING.....mainly.......OF the Manager's words concerning his feelings in the matter.

I myself have Heard the Li'l Admiral, give his honest(?) opinion of Petrov's worth to the Team.....and if I may add...... He CONTRIVES to create a VERY GLOWING AND UPBEAT SYNOPSIS of Petrov's soccer ability and his future SOCCER POSTAL ADDRESS!

However!......... You JUST KNEW it was Coming? AND... I shall Not DISAPPOINT!

In a few of my last submissions to this sainted island of celtica....
I have tried in my own inimitable way.... to EXPLAIN the Thrusts and PARRIES of the NEGO GAME!

This time I shall be ....BLUNT!

Lies, LIES, and DARN FIBS, are part and parcel of the PREAMBLE, to EVERY SERIOUS Negotiating PROCEDURE!

I am absolutely Isolated from any intention to Denigrate the SOCCER PROWESS of MR.PETROV.

I have give my honest opinion on his worth to the TEAM, many times... in previous submissions to this blog.
I think I am safe in Declaring....

I say that Mr. PETROV is a VERY INCONSISTENT COG in the CELTIC MACHINE....His ability GOES from SPARKLING Champange....to....the cloying taste of VANTAS!

One never knows Which STILLIAN is going to be delivered to the CELTIC LIQUOR CABINET, on ANY GIVEN DAY!

This Topsy turvy form....... marks him as a very DISPENSABLE ITEM in my Wine Cellar!

Celtic WILL SELL ...... IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT........MAKE NO MISTAKE about that!

    Meanwhile, back at the RANCH......

THE MANAGER MUST TOUT MR.Petrov's ability.....

    IT IS A NO- BRAINER!!

That's the GAME AS IT IS PLAYED!

A SALESMAN IS THE VERY LAST PERSON, that one would expect.....

PURE UNADULTERATED TRUTH TO EMANATE FROM(A Preposition must never be used to finish a Sentence, with..Ed.)

    HMMMMMMMM!!

Wait until a more commendable Team, comes knocking on the PARKHEAD GATE!

If the PRICE IS RIGHT.......Stan will be on the NEXT FLIGHT......

    EUROPA ANYONE??

    Bottom line........

The Manager and YOURS TRULY are in COMPLETE LOCKSTEP IN THIS ONE!!!

And you can....well you know the destination!!!!!!!!!

    Celtic 3 kilmarnock0

    Hail! Hail!

    Kojo,
I think we as fans, tend to overeact to any suggestion that players don't love the club like we do, or that they wouldn't play for Celtic for nothing.

Over the past few months you have forced us to think about the cold reality - if he doesn't sign, he'll be sold. Now that this looks like it might happen, to some fans at least, it isn't a shock, as you have made us think this one through in advance.

The only criticism I'd offer is that you tainted your argument a wee bit by suggesting he was a 'journeyman'. That aside, I think that the fact that you punted this argument and caused us to think it through - this is one of the aspects that puts CQN on a different plane from other fora.

I actually think that Celtic have approached this one in the right way. 18 months out, force the issue.....now Strachan has the next 6 months to scout a replacement.....give Stan one last shot at a deal.....then get business done in early July.....either way, it's better than the old way of doing business.

    My dear friend, Weeron,

Thankyou for you gracious .....and I must say welcome contribution to the Great PETROV CONTROVERSY.

I find that you and I agree on most of the SALIENT POINTS.......

The only divergence that I note in our mutual opinions, appears to be the Time FACTOR.......
I have mentioned this in the past.....

I am not One Hundred Per cent certain in this matter........Fargo brought it up to us, rather early in the Petrov matter........

But I am TOLD....... That Petrov can TALK, but not act..... with interested Parties, during the last Year of his contract.......
(There again this projection is open to discussion.....as I am quite uncertain of the above LOOPHOLE...... Opinions requested , by the COGNOSCENTI?

This would set CELTIC UP ...for the USUAL LOSS of A TRANSFER FEE.

I am certain that MONSIEUR PIERRE is not to be TRIFLED WITH...in this CUSTOMARY LET DOWN!

    No! Sirree, ROBERT!

The nonsense that is being inserted into the MOUTH OF THE MANAGER, by RORY....WHO ELSE?..

REGARDING CELTIC'S or the MANAGER'S WILLINGNESS to allow PETROV'S WORTH to REDUCTIO AD ABSURDUM...IS .........

    WELL.......ABSURD!

    Bottom line....as always....

If Petrov accepts the PARSIMONIOUS(in his mind) NEW TERMS OFFERED........ then by all means retain his services..

If the contrary occurs and he reneges....... SELL HIM AND QUICKLY!!

    Celtic3 kilmarnock0

    Lack of cover?

No idea what is happening with Camara and think it's a shame he was dropped when he was looking to be coming good - probably personal issues.

Agathe is never getting near the first team with his lack of effort and poor attitude.

Virgo could cover for right back but I don't think that's our main problem area.

Huge game today for the club.

I have nightmares over a 79/80 style slide where everything that can go wrong will go wrong. Sorry but this is my pessimistic side coming through, therefore I hope I have got it wrong.

However I think that WGS has shown his "conservative" side regarding team selection, he should have been braver and made more changes:

    PT - Last legs surely
RW - Best shot but by all accounts struggling.
SM - Needs to be rested
NL - One for the road
    BBJ - Totally focused?

Consequently half the outfield team have question marks against them and having RK in at CB looks like a stop-gap action. Who will deal with things in the air? SM jumps 6" less than his height at the best of times.

With this in mind I hope that SP delivers another hat trick with a view to giving a quality "GIRUY" to kojo in the best possible "asset management" style.

    Her's hoping.

    HT Celtic 2-1 Kilmarnock

A big improvement on last weeks performance. The 3 key differences are Keane at the back, Maloney in midfield and Magic up front. Keane, apart from 2 rash tackles, one of which cost us a goal, looks assured when in possession and brings the other guys into the play. McManus looks more comfortable than in recent weeks due to Keane. Maloney is back to his best in midfield, making chances for others. Magic is giving us loads of movement up front and has played BBJ in a couple of times only to see the big man a couple of yards off the pace.

Naka is showing great touches. His free kick was sublime. Petrov and Lennon are doing what they do best in midfield. Lennon holding the middle and Petrov making good runs and supporting the attack.

Telfer is off the pace. Wallace is doing well going forward. Boruc mad one outstanding save and had no chance for the penalty.

All in all a solid performance but there are still many scary moments when Killie come forward and find far too much space around our box.

Wallace took a bad head knock just on half time, his second for the day. Would like to see him replaced at HT.

You're right, this is not the team of old that was always a threat on set pieces. Seems like half our goals under MON came in the air. But if the likes of Zura and Hartson can be a little more clinical the goals should come because, as you say, the team is creating chances.

notably, i think lenny had a strong match. kept the shape well and avoided any howlers. though has been my favorite Celt for some time, i frequently find myself pulling my hair out with some of his play. That being said, I think Lennon, Stan and Keane have to be on the park, which will always cause a headache in terms of formation. Keane can play great at centerback, notwithstanding a couple poor moments today, but his strength is midfield mastermind. does WGS dare fiddle with his efforts to develop a flying back 4-4-2. Its worth asking.

    Bounced back well...

Yes we need to tighten up...But...

The Magic's coming back. Shaun's in his best position, working his socks off and complimenting Ross Wallace. Nakamura? Well...What can you say....A delight to watch such class....

It is all Very Promising...Very promising....
    The Future looking bright again...

Surely we can't blow a 20-point lead over Rangers?

But I'm not so sure about staying ahead of Hearts unless we tighten up.

Casey - Well said, I can't think of how WGS is going to resolve this one, Lennon and Keane in the same team just doesn't make sense, still that's what he gets the big bucks (and pelters)for.

BakuBhoy - "rubbish", my you are polite, hope you're raking in the pots at the cards.
Another good three points today, but some nervy moments too.

    First ever post.
Just want to say thanks to all for the updates today.
Defenders neede badly by the sound of things.

Isn't it amazing the difference in our attacking play when Magic plays?

I think his workrate, movement and all round intellegance are too often overlooked in Scotland. Due to injury his total goals haul this season will be fortunate to reach 15, but I think his eventual total would vastly underplay his worth.

When Naka has a forward player with something like the intellengance that he possesses in front of him, his play improves immeasurably. Also dropping Maloney back to his rightful position gets the best out of him. I agree with may posters here that he plays too deep and is not sufficiently ruthless in his finishing to be a complete striker, but the role that he occupies best I think says a lot about him.

The mythical "hole" between the strikers and the midfield has been the habitat of some of the most inspirational geniuses and some of the most inconsistent practitioners of their trade. And the difference is attitude and application. The role itself forces neither the responsibility to contribute a striker's goal haul, nor the requirement to track back and graft upon the player. The poorer "hole" players are subsequently deficient in both respects, the good ones whilst maybe not scoring 20 a season, excell.

To put it more succinctly, you either have a Lubo or a Berkovic. I am pleased to say that Shaun is more of the former, and when Magic is fit, this is where he should stay.

That defence though! Gee whizz! It is a major concern when a team of third rate spoilers, minus their main goal threat over the last few seasons, can breach our rearguard twice. I hope that Paul is right about the centre half in the summer, but I fear we'll have to spend the lion's share of our budget to secure the class so badly required.

Happy with three points today, but worried about the defence.
