Possibly left back, supercelt. He has played there for the national team apparently

Would Stan not be an excellent value-for-money signing from Europe? Box to box midfielder, young legs to complement the auld heid on auld legs that is Lennon / Keane?
Och, wi an attitude like that Curly Bhoy, you are asking to get Kojo-ed.
Hail! Hail!

Hello Paul,
Any thoughts on my recent suggestion that the following is made a prominent and permanent link on the CQN site?
CELTIC SOCIAL CHARTER
It may be useful.
Not for the first time, Estadio's wonderful words brought it to mind.

don't know much about halmosi but we have 10 days to fill our left back slot and possibly another defender at centre half.
then i'll be more confident of winning the title.
hopefully halmosi has got what we need for the run-in.

Not sure quite how lucrative the Chinese market actually is ?
Seem to remember that Real Madrid visited not so long ago, to find that most of the strips worn by "fans" were cheap replica's churned out in China.
Du Wei did seem to have some skill / ability on the ball, but after several months in the reserves & International appearances. He should have been more aware of the physical nature of the domestic game in europe.
The window of opportunity now awaits another....better than Balde or Varga shouldn't be that difficult surely.

estadio...beautifully said.
my worst moment as a celtic fan....
fir park? neachatuel? nope.....
during the minutes silence for jock stein at the first home game after he died a young guy standing beside me in the celtic end, during the silence, shouted ''f**k the proddies''......
and nobody said or did anything
go on wee miller, you wont regret hanging the phone up on bazza, cos we will make you feel at home, we will show you patience cos we know you will be getting enough abuse from the other side and we will raise the roof when with the hoops on your back you hit the net at ibrox

Just seen an absolute cracker on FansFC from Super Mo:
Mo Camara has said he has no interest in leaving Celtic after reports of interest from Stoke and Derby County.
The former Burnley left-back joined the SPL leaders in the summer and is hoping to win back his place in the Celtic side after a spell out of favour and said: "I don't know what decisions the manager is taking about new players.
"The last time I spoke to him he told me I wasn't going anywhere. If a left back comes in then he would have to fight for his place. I'm not scared of anybody. If Paolo Maldini came in, then I'd still fight."
Camara, Wallace or Maldini at left back. Mmmmmmm let me think.

Keano limped out of training today, would imagine he's doubtful for Sunday. Check out www.snspix.com. Hope WGS has some positive info on this in his press conference.

Has anyone actually seen Halmosi in action? I hope WGS has seen something in him which will bear fruit for the cause. If he does sign, then heres hoping that Gordon has got his buys right this time. I dont think were too far off the finished article, ie a team with fantastic pace, a mixture of youth and experience. Hopefully if they all gel together, then future longevity in champions league could be on the cards next year and beyond.
-
Paul67, Off topic but for your interest. The following is taken from BBC Sport World Football.
Uefa hints at Champions League changes
Mr Olsson is the chief executive of Uefa
Uefa chief executive Lars-Christer Olsson has suggested that the Champions League format could change again in the future.
Europe's premier cup competition has undergone a number of changes since the old European Cup knockout was abolished in 1993, and group stages inserted.
Olsson said that two years in football was like a prehistoric era in the development of the Earth, and that it was likely
"I think the format of the competition will change in the future, depending on changes in the environment and in the market," he told BBC World Service's World Football programme.
"The current model for the Champions League is a proper development, a result of development over several years in European football."
Football family
There have been suggestions that the Champions League format will continue to be changed to suit the demands of the G-14 group of top European clubs, in an effort to prevent them from forming a breakaway European Superleague.
However, Olsson strongly rebuffed any claims that Uefa would bow to pressure from the G-14.
"Actually we don't have a relationship with the G-14, so it's quite simple from our point of view," he said.
I can't identify one single matter where the G14 have made a difference - where they have even had a joint opinion
Lars-Christer Olsson
"We don't think they are of any relevance for European football as an organisation.
"As individual clubs they are important - but we already have them all in the European Club forum, and this is where we discuss with the clubs.
"So we don't really see the need for a grouping like the G-14, unless they would like to discuss their internal matters - and this is fine."
And he was particularly dismissive of the idea of a European Superleague.
"To be honest, I can't identify one single matter where they have made a difference - where they have even had a joint opinion," he added.
"If they would like to organise a European competition they can, of course, but that means that they will have to leave the Association Football family."

I'm interested in this lad Halmosi. I have friends out in Budapest and they rate this one very highly. Indeed, I'm told Halmosi has also been scouted by Ajax, PSV and Anderlecht (don't shoot the messenger). Given that these type of clubs are our natural competition (IMO), I'm heartened by our actions here.
So far, Eastern Europe has proved a fruitful market for us - particularly in Boruc. Hopefully, WGS has unearthed another gem.
Paul, any info on a deal being done this side of Sunday? I take it Halmosi will fit the bill of 'attacking left-back'?
-
the window makes usual non-interest games essential viewing.
hibs games, now wolves. now we actually have a real reason to watch their matches.
even watched the birmingham game, thought big sutty strolled through the
match. hes away down there to put his feet up and wind down. not like keano at all.
-
Is Halmosi offical? Hopefully yes and if we manage to get Caldwell before the end of January, with young Mark Wilson we have addressed the key weaknesses in defence. If the front six continue doing the business it should be a fine run in to May.
Looks like this transfer window will seal, the MO’N reign to history, With the exception of two key players, Larsson and Mjallby, the team who played so well in Seville (May ’03) and the team that was humiliated at Fir Park (May ’05) are remarkably similar, no big surprise in two years, yet by May ‘06 we may see the last of the O’Nielli.
While Petrov is still key, his long term future in the hoops is far from assured, Thompson and Agathe (arguably the man of the match in 2003) are fringe squad players and with Keane and Caldwell signed up Lennon and Balde’s first choice status looks in serious jeopardy.
The past performances and achievements of MO’N squad has been treated with little Sevilleity by Gordon Strachan, he has made his intentions clear and even with lack of Cash for transfer fees (early Cup exits) and little funds for wages (hasn’t managed to off load surplus players (YET)). He is still ringing in the changes and making preparations for next season.
While we may not be over enamoured by the quality I would say that this transfer window is signifying that barring debacles of Clydeislavan proportions Gordon will be at the Helm next season AND MEANS BUSINESS.

don't know if this is a widely available shot thought I'd share it. october 1966

Good point, well made Chairbhoy.
Although the new signings haven't been to everyone's taste, it would appear GS is at last beginning to mould a team without the restriction or baggage of the MON era.
Only time will tell if his vision brings success but it is definately a case of out with the old and in with the new.
Taxis for Agathe, Thompson and Varga PLEASE.

Paul
Any idea or feedback on how the Du Wei situation is being reported in China?
It might seriously hamper our chances of getting another Chinese player over if the experience of Du Wei is being looked upon as the Chinese captain being stuck in the reserves for months, never getting his chance then being dumped after only 45 minutes of first team football.
I know the Far East is a developing market but I do feel a lot more comfortable in trying to get players from Europe or, like Nakamura, players who have adapted to Europe.
-
Why's the arsonoist guy with tourettes from Shameless standing in the middle of the back row?????
bit wierd isn't it?
-
Great picture whitedog,
That must have been Parkhead at it's worst, goes to show you it's not the Stadium it's the contents that count!
dontbrattbackinanger,
Believe you are a wee bit older than me so you can correct me but I think Celtic used to run three teams then, there were no substitutes either so I'm guessing it's the goalies from all of the teams.

From official site
Caldwell pre-contract signing confirmed
Celtic not interested in Iversen.
-
Official website has just confirmed that Gary Caldwell has signed a pre-contract with Celtic
-
I think the player between Bobby and Sean Fallon is the fullback,Willie O 'neill
-
Also disappointed Du Wei has left but that is more to do with widening our audience than on ability. If he is not good enough, so be it.
Defintely agree the Eastern bloc market is the way to go when spending on transfers. Again the obvious, if they are good enough. Halmosi seems to have a decent pedigree.
Noel, got the link, thanks. looks great.
-
white dog
Is that a relative of Davie Moyes in the Keeper's outfit? :-)
-
No iversen. phew!
Gordon Strachan this afternoon confirmed that Hibernian defender Gary Caldwell has signed a pre-contract agreement with Celtic and will join the club in the summer.
The Hoops boss also moved quickly to quash rumours linking him with a move for Steffen Iversen, re-iterated his desire to hang on to John Hartson and revealed that talks will take place with Peter Halmosi's representatives later this afternoon on the Hungarian trialist's future.
More to follow..

And I think the lad 4th from left in back row is Callaghan, from Dunfermline;either that or he's borrowed his neck for the photo.
Could get on with decorating the front room tonight but I think I'll be looking out the Hugh Taylor Football Books instead, and the good old'Playing for Celtic'will be dusted down as well
