-
Guigsy,
and where is my thanks ? :-)
-
what the hell????????

This must be the bolding of the season!
Followed by several quality reprises, but sadly a couple of repostes not worthy of even a jorneyman blogger.

Not convinced at all about the potential US market.
I am a regular visitor to the states, and believe that football is not, and in my opinion never will be, a part of their culture. Hard to imagine what is going to change things there when the 1994 World Cup had so little longterm impact.
Hope the rumours about tonight's team selection are wrong.
Maloney and Nakamura dropped? Shurely shome mistake.
Ditto Dublin in for Hartson.
If true, a very big gamble by WGS. I hope he knows what he is doing because the criticism will be intense if this selection fails.
-
according to bbc website bbj and lenny both rested for this game
-
Bryce Curdy,
The next time I go the Good Shepherd, I will say a few for you.
You are so obvious.
-
Denia Bhoy - I know the Timestamps don't corroborate my story but I was definitely first!!!! You have taken first place by proxy. I hope you are proud of yourself.
I'm off to sulk.
C'MON THE HOOPS
-
Bryce Curdy:I am a regular visitor to the states, and believe that football is not, and in my opinion never will be, a part of their culture
I would have to agree with you totally on this one. I'm living just north of the border right now and if it's Hockey Season NOTHING else matters. Outside that "Football" (read men running into each other) and Basketball are far too dominant for professional soccer to be taken seriously.

HA HA HA HA HA HA
FOLLOWING allegations made on a Real Radio programme last month, the following statement was read out by presenter Ewen Cameron on Real Radio tonight.
"On the Real Football Phone-in programme broadcast by Real Radio on January 13th this year, I alleged that Peter Lawwell, in his role as chief executive of Celtic plc, and the board of Celtic plc had been untruthful to Celtic supporters and to the media in relation to player contracts.
"Real Radio and I acknowledge and accept that these allegations were completely without foundation, were unreasonable and ought not to have been broadcast. Real Radio and I wish to retract the allegations and to apologise unreservedly to both Mr Lawwell and the Celtic Board for the distress and damage caused by the broadcasting of the allegations."

Sorry to beat you to this exclusive story Paul67 but I have it on
excellent authority that in a new revolutionary way to try and raise
cash (and to stop Kojo and P8ddy slogging it out ) ;-) Glasgow Celtic
plc has announced that a new single and video release featuring the
Celtic first team squad will be released next week. Most of the squad
spent this weekend putting the final touches in the recording Studio
and the single will be released with an accompanying mp3 video, to top
it all all most of the Celtic Board were also involved as backing singers

Man I can't keep up with this new thread posting frenzy. Anyways, apologies for those who hung around on the previous but:
Someone referred to Kojo and p8ddy:
I don't know either of you, exept through your contributions. I share your passion for Celtic, and respect you for your opinions. BUT NO CYBERHANDBAGS PLEASE!
Quite frankly I have enjoyed the exchange between these fine gents more than much of the talk on this excellent bed of discussion in recent weeks.
I may not agree with p8ddys strong and currently unbending views on Strachan (even though I am sure he himself will be the first to say he hopes to be proved wrong) as much as I feel Kojo needs to realise that Petrov is the best candidate in our current squad to lead them out next year. But to read two articulate gents phase through styles and tactic as quickly as they leap on the smallest aspect of one anothers argument is a pleasure to read.
And bloody funny sometimes too, I'm not sure what was better the cutting "ass" joke itself, or the blatant deliberate attempt at a wind up that was the "gutter language" jibe in response to it.
Carry on fellas, there's plenty of others to guess formations every day.
ReidyinToronto
p.s.
I don't expect Lennon tonight, but whether Petrov is given a role shall be seen. Possibly Pearson in to give him a rest but surely a midfield of Shaun, Keane, Petrov and Naka must be the future. With Keane's added mobility and passing from deep we should see a return of the old stan we know and love, bursting a lung to both protect and support the artists on either side of him.
-
according to channel 67 the team is
boruc
telfer bobo mcmanus wilson
naka stan keane shaun
dd majic
-
Marzepans
Thanks for the tip to the E-Tims article. I spend so much time on here these days I sometimes forget E-Tims.
Thought the article itself was a fair summation and reasoning of existing divisions though the writer I felt let the argument down by trotting out the tired theory of current success only being as a result of the opposition's manager being "woefully lacking in talent"
It would be as well for us all to remember that the man without talent somehow contrived to take two league titles as opposed to three won by MON but then he is of course extremely lucky. Lets hope WGS has just as much luck but with a little more of the backing unreservedly afforded to MON. I know that the wtiter poo-pooed the idea of Celtic -mindedness but I'm also very sure being both Irish and catholic did MON no harm in terms of ready acceptance.
-
what does telfer need to do to be relegated to the bench!!!he must have pics of wgs in a gimp mask
-
I wouldn't be suprised if Dublin took Hartson's place - apparently he has been excellent in training and it gives BBJ a rest for Sunday.
Would have thought Telfer would be in at left back - he has plenty of experience and would be the more likely candidate to slot in I would have though - unless Wilson has played left back before?
-
Delighted with the team selection. Look forward to a convincing display with SP being brought on for SP later to give SP a rest for Sunday!
-
Guigsy - There are lies, damned lies, and CQN Timestamps. I'll bask in my unexpected glory for a moment or two.
-
Reidy
, if you read the sequence of replies through I'm very doubtful that this was a blatant, deliberate attempt at a wind up, although I can confidently predict our jorneyman blogger will claim it is.
-
Reidy, you dont happen to know away to hear the BBc report of the game from outside the UK. Im also in the T-Dot and walking down to Mcvieghs while its about minus 15 is streching my loyalty.
-
With Petrov being Captain, i'm expecting a huge performance from him. Team looks good with the exception of playing Wilson out of position to accomodate Telfer.
-
CELTIC (4-4-2) Boruc; Telfer, Balde, McManus, Wilson; Nakamura, Petrov, Keane, Maloney; Dublin, Zurawski.
Subs: Marshall, Hartson, Thompson, Pearson, Varga, Wallace, McGlinchey.
-
Tonights team..........Boruc wilson telfor balde mcmannus naka keane petrov maloney magic dublin
-
So the rumours regarding Maloney and Nakamura being dropped are false. This team is closer to the one I expected, but still a brave decision which I dearly hopes works. Dropping Hartson for the unpopular (in most supporters' eyes) Dublin has considerable potential to backfire.
-
Lennon injured?
-
bryce curdy,
On second thoughts I will increase the number to 3 Hail Mary's.
You are in dire need.
-
guigsy, did you mean Wilson
-
Potentially a great move teamwise.
Fresh look about the team. Can't wait for kickoff!
-
That team sheet would also allow a 3-5-2 formation if WGS was in a tinkering mood!
Moving Wallace to the right of midfield with Naka moving inside and a back 3 of Telfer Balde and MacManus.
Doubt he will do it but maybe if we are miles in front?
-
seventh son of a seventh son :)
I would hazard a guess that your PC clock is 3 mins ahead of mine. Your last post shows as being 7.25pm but its only 7.23pm by my watch
-
MC and NL not even on the bench. Any significance?
-
MikeyBhoy - I did indeed, although how you knew that before I even posted it I will never know ;-)
-
Rangers going with Prso, Lovenkrands, Boyd and Burke.
Very attack minded but no Buffel
-
Kojo
Increase your Hail Marys to whatever number you like.
It will be in direct proportion to your tedium. Please go away.
-
bryce curdy,
You are displeased.
You asked for it,pal.
If ya ....... can't stand..... then do not light the fire!
How if I add a sprinkle of Holy Water?
Think that may do the trick?
-
ok guys break it up , save the conflab for our half time entertainment!!
hoops 2 falkirk 1 i reckon
-
Kojo
I am equally displeased when a fly tries to land on me.
And in what sense, ded I ask for it, pal?
-
by the way kojo , where is fargo these days? have you heard from him?
-
John Hughes suggests they will sit in and hope to hit Celtic on the break. Two young Irishmen in midfield relishing their chance against Roy Keane.
-
bryce curdy,
Ya got hold of a Tar Baby, pal.
And ya know what that entails!
-
Excellent decision to play Dublin BBJ gets a rest but is on bench if needed.
-
Yo! peeps. heres hoping for a few goals and a clean sheet....recently we have been like enuretic schoolboys.hopefully beckenbobo will have a good game to settle any nerves for sunday.
celtic 3-falkirk 0
-
Celtic 4-0
-
Presumably, if the Dublin selection 'has considerable potential to backfire', Bryce Curdy, then it has also considerable potential to hit the target. But you won't see that. The negativity is sad.
C'mon The Hoops!
-
My dear friend, Xavier,
Your pseudonym, reminds me of my favorite Saint...(lest I tread on the sensitive toes of the other members who espouse a far different persuasion.....then, my apologies)

No longer MacOStracised from CH67....
Here is hoping for 3 points first and the bonus of a confidence lifting display...
C'Mon the Hoops...
-
COME ON THE CELTIC!
-
McGrain - normally enjoy your contributions.
I absolutely do see that, and NOTHING would give me more pleasure than it transpiring as an inspired team selection.
It is, however, a very brave decision, and I'm sure you'd agree that in the current climate if DD flops then Strachan will come under even more pressure. I am not one of his unreserved critics, far from it. I'm simply stating it's a brave team selection with limited margin for error if things don't work out. Let's turn this on its head. There were no Celtic fans I've come across suggesting that Hartson should be dropped for Dublin in the run up to tonight's game. As a consequence, if Dublin has a 'mare tonight, only one person will take the blame.
I admire his courage, and hope his judgement is as sound.
-
Can anyone tell me if, and if so how, you can watch the game on Polsat's website? It's the weirdest thing, but the site's written in Polish and I can't work it out.
-
Come on people, lets stop the fussin and the feudin!
The game has started ffs!
MONA HOOPS!!

Once again friction in the CQN camp, and the bolding has returned.

Anybody know a way to get the commentary outside of the uk?
-
Falkirk have put on a few kg since my last comment - they are digging well & playing some decent stuff in possession.
Dublin doing some cheerleading on the pitch - calling for more from the team.
Falkirk are running offside a lot - are we 'holding the defensive line' more?

come on the hoops

Ghuys - trying to listen on Radio Scotland.
Click on the "click to listen" tab, the Vidiprinter box comes up, but below the GoalFlash box is "waiting info".
This ain't moved in 15 mins. No icons on the left where I suppose there should be something to allow me to listen.
Tried Clyde 2 and got through there OK, but immediately shut it down!!
Help??

malone19 response from Previous thread
As I said these questions are deceptive as they appear silly /simplistic at first glance. Are we only going to sell internet rights? Are we not going to bundle with other offerings? What is our Strategy, how will we market, what segments are we after, what is their buying behavior and socio-economic demographic, what is our insertion point (buy a highly recognizable Chinese player?) tours and other promos. Can Nike help?
Do I want to be in China? Yea…..I want to be every where else too?
Let’s not go off half cocked. Let’s understand how we plan to penetrate, how, and for what purpose. What will it take to support this, look at an analog and learn how they are attacking this (Barca). Barca are talking about creating a team to play in the MLS (US League) we need to think strategically about who we raise awareness to the Brand. AC Milan have a 30 min weekly program on what’s going on at the club. We need to be making those sorts of plays. Most of all we need to be a credible associate for the non affiliated soccer / football fan worldwide. The Scots / Irish link will get you some action in N. America, but how do you get Asians and others to empathize associate with us? That is the question ultimately….goes back to the insercion point question. How do I become visible in this market and what about me (CFC) makes the consumer (fan) want to be associated with me. What is our Brand cache? Sign Becks for pop culture cache, sign a Chinese player for national pride cache, sponsor orphanages for benevolence cache????? What makes us a sticky Brand??
It all starts with the little questions that are really starting points for a great big planning process. That is all I was getting at. I think we are saying roughly the same stuff, just different words to express it.
-
Celtic playing better now. Maloney with 50 yard burst and pass to Keane goes a little astray.
Boruc makes a poor mistake. Lucky
-
Radio Scotland (on-line) seems to be fcuked
-
boruc having a wee hairy moment, spilling a free kick at edge of box.celtic counter...
-
Garry Pendrey apparently dishing out some stick Not happy with pace of team
-
When Keane is in possession & there is a forward pass 'on' he gives it with lots of pace - it ups us a gear.
We seem to be slowly gaining the upper hand.
Balde just stepped into midfield & trod on the Falkirk player in possession - halting the break immediately. We have missed this. Boruc just did a little Australian Rules - ended up outside the box.
-
a kojo and paddyesque handbag session with WGS and 4th official...
-
1-0 Aberdeen
-
SanFran_Tic
Celtic won't release their plans on how they will (if they will) attempt to enter new markets.
They (I would hope) would carry out this research and create a long term plan the same as any other business would when deciding on a foriegn market and segment within it.

According to Guidi and Provan on Clyde, Lennon has been assured he will be back as captain for Sunday. In light of tonight's first scorer, do you really think Keane will be dropped for the next game? Surely the team will be picked on the merit of recent performances including tonight's game . . .
-

malone19
Understood.. I just post questions and maybe if they have not been asked they can be carried to the right people and the question asked. If it is thought to be either stupid or irrelevant question then nothing lost. If it helps stimulate further refinement to our strategy or implementation plan….Beautiful.
Anyway on the discloser….I agree. I think we are on the same wavelength.
Now what can you do to get me a goal. I start a meeting in 2mins.

Why is it that only the Aberdeen v Rangers and Celtic v Falkirk are available exclusively in the UK on BBC?
No restrictions on the Hibs, Killie and Dunfermline games
-
Aberdeen 2, Huns 0 (smith, lovell)
Hibs 2, Livingston 0 (killen, riordan)
Back in 4th place?
Kilmarnock 1, M'Well 1
Dunfermline 2, Caley T 0
-
sorry Cubist-
couldn,t type for a minute there as Iwas holding my sides and pi#*ing myself !
noel.

As scores stand at half-time, is this the beginning of the generation of domination? LOL

If Hibs win, kilmarnock win and Inverness win-rangers lose their next two home games-to us and Hibs-bottom six for rangers !
noel.
-
If the H.T. scores stay the same at F.T Rangers will be only 3 points ahead of Kilmarnock in 5th place.
Now, if Celtic give Rangers a hammering on Sunday and Kilmarnock win..........
-
This must be a first. Half time debate with no metion of our left back!!!!!!!!!
-
I'd take the 3 results right now. rankers back to 4rth. ten points clear and not to mention the small matter of being 18 points ahead of them!!
I'm actually just happy that it's half time and we still haven't conceded.
Welcome home Bobo!!!

Real Madrid getting pumped 3-1 at half time to zaragoza.
-
buffel is rangers only real source of creativity yet eck dropped to bench tonight, he really is a numpty
-
It looks like Dublin gives us just as much physical presence as Hartson but arguably a little more movement. The additional vocal presence is also welecome, he appears to doing a good job at encouraging the other players. So far, strikes me as an inspired signing.
-
Kojo-
what is all this with you and P8ddy and Bryce?
Its not nice.......
just get me coat......
noel.

Are you watching it somehow Kojo with all that info??

Maloney great tracking back. At times it looks like we try to put on a full court press. McManus looks to have regained some confidence.

Has Big Mick regained his confidence 'cos Big Bobo is back?

SimplyaBhoy & Codi36 - the circumstantial evidence is strong.
Zurawski has worked really hard - clearly returning to fitness - deserves a goal

these flags at games are just downright dangerous...there was a tricolour along the grass a minute ago...someone could have slipped and injured themselves on it
