Dunfermline 1-8 Celtic
The Celtic Express stormed into East End Park yesterday and left Dunfermline looking dazed and confused. Maciej Zurawski scored four of Celtic’s eight goals as Gordon Strachan’s team created a Scottish Premier League scoring record.
Zurawski is currently showing the kind of form that has inevitably drawn comparisons with that former Celtic striker.
While this kind of comparison is never fair on the player trying to live up to a former hero, Zurawski’s incredible scoring rate, achieved without the benefit of penalty kicks, makes such a comparison inevitable.
Dunfermline equalised an early goal from Petrov when Tod capitalised on an Artur Boruc mistake, but that was about the extent of the home challenge.
John Hartson restored Celtic’s lead after Halliwell had saved well from Zurawski before Zurawski scored his first after 32 minutes with a crisp left foot finish into the side-net.
The Pole’s second and third goals either side of half time were finished in a generous amount of space.
Shaun Maloney, who had a quiet afternoon, scored one of the goals of the season on 74 minutes. He connected with a volley, off the ground with his body twisting, on the 18-year-line that found the top corner.
Cheer of the afternoon came after 82 minutes when Neil Lennon shot from outside the box into Halliwell’s bottom right corner. It was Lennon’s first goal in over four years.
Zurawski completed the rout with a fine finish near the end.
Dunfermline: Halliwell, McCunnie, Scott Wilson, Tod, Zambernardi, Darren Young, Mason, Simmons, Craig Wilson (Daquin 66), Burchill, Andy Campbell (Tarachulski 57).

W8s it something you 8?

8 goals in one game and not one from a set-piece! Makes it all the more impressive.
-
Well done to that chap, otis!
You sir, have joined a very exclusive club. One from which, that aul haund noel, does not belong!
-
Lennon and Keane played very well yesterday and Neil in particular looks as though the one game he sat out has done him the world of good. Hoping McGeady is back soon so we can give Shaun a rest.
Happy Birthday Artur Boruc - 26 today!
Oh aye, get yersel's down to the Shyberry Excelscior this Friday at 7pm, the youths are playing a scottish cup tie against St Mirren. Good chance to see the likes of Ferry and Lawson and give them a bit of support.
-
its amazing the difference in the team now that Nakamura has been dropped.
Ok, its only been a few games, and a better opinion could be forged over time, but so far its looking more balanced.
Hopefully, this will inspire him to a more all round game when he gets his return chance.

Well done otus…………………

Big up to 8tis !

After yesterday's result, the reason why p8ddy has an "8" in his blog name, suddenly becomes clear!!

I know its not strictly street legal but does anyone know where I can find a link to the goals yesterday? I just want to get a copy of Lenny's.

Some more info on the youths performance in Italy. Apparently this is a tournament run regularly by Sampdoria with mainly Italian teams competing. Our results were - Group Stage v Sampdoria 1-2 Verona 3-0 Brescia 1-1
Semi v Sturm Graz 3-0
Final v Sampdoria 1-0
A lot of complaints re referees with a good goal ruled out in the first game v Sampdoria. However great experience and a great performance against the home team. Squad Paul Skinner Paul Caddis Ryan McCafferty Paul Hutchinson Dean Richardson Graham Carey Ross Hepburn Mark Miller Paul Cahillane John McGeoch Paul McGowan Scott Fox Jacob Lensky, Sean Anderson , Jason Marr, Danny Lafferty, Mark Staunton
Isn't it a pity I had to trawl the highways and byways of the internet for this info.

I presume your tongue was firmly in your cheek when you wrote this.

If only Zurawski had scored against Falkirk rather than hit the bar he'd have scored in 8 games in a row,he might still!
and well done Coatbridge Bhoy Ricky Burns on Saturday night, your day will come.

Reading the Borucgate rubbish yesterday reminded me of how bad our media are. About 3 weeks ago I was in a hotel and the players were leaving. A father and son asked GS for a photo and he duly obliged. A few of the other players had already left the foyer but GS asked a couple of them to come back and sign a few autographs. Some of the players were having a laugh and Alan Thompson was getting slagged for having so much spare time as he isn't playing. The atmosphere was relaxed and of the usual football banter. The look on the wee boy's face was great ( just wish I had mine with me). My point is can we organise some type of bhoycott of the tabloids even just for a day. It might make them think who their target audience is. Does anyone know if it is true Joke Brown is getting his P45 from Setanta? Yesterday was another masterclass of not understanding the game. It is a poor day when Hately is the bright one. I hope Craig Burley has calmed down a bit. Why does he not like Celtic?

Sunday morning I've noticed your questions concerning Boruc's interview. Let me explain a few things in a proper way. One day after a meeting with Legia fans I have sent you my translation of the part of this interview. A part which could be important to you. The rest in my opinion had nothing to do with you. After a few hours later I have read the article in legialive site. I do not know how do you call it. We describe it as especially "coloured".The grey picture turned to be a color picture. You understand; especially for Legia fans. Even in that article intelligent people could not find anything wrong. But to be honest with you I was affraid that this "coloured" article will be "coloured" again in an british media. Unfortunately it has happened. Yesterday I have read on legia.net site the translation linked to the Sunday Mail article. The title of this is " Boruc in a trouble".So the story has it's own life.Thouse who were present at the session say that S.M.doesn't say the truth. This case reminds me comunism era. The journalist could take the interview with somebody who say for example "I love my wife but I hate the dogs", record it on the tape, then cut the words, put them separetly, stick in a "proper" order, and relese the interview. Finaly you have a comment."This man is a pervert, deviant and for sure beats his wife". I would be not suprised if one of media will say :"Zurawski told today to our reporter that four goals in one game is a peanuts becouse SP is poor". The only problem is do you belive this information or not. Time runs fast but human intensions are still the same. They are good or bad. I would like to thank to Wisla fan for the objectivism on that case. I'm not Wisla fan I'm Legia fan. But should I hate them. Of course not.I have respect to them and their club. That's why I told you a few months ago that Zurawski is a class player. Regarding Boruc. Is he a class goalkeeper. Yes, and no. He will be a real star and a real class keeper in a few next months. With you bhoys playing in a Champions League. All the best to all of you. Zbyszek Legia fan Sorry for the mistakes. P.S. Paul:Today I will put my e-mail address in my profile.I will delete it tomorrow. Check if somebody would like to see our game in Warsaw. I can try to arrange to meetin with fans.

I knew magicsboots was a good name to choose...though according to Joke Brown 3 out of 4 of his finishes were entirely down to poor defending....so its easy to strike the ball perfectly 3 time into 1ft gap between keeper and post...never knew that

Noel or anyone - can you (if its easy for you to tell me) tell me how to create a link to a photo to post (photo saved in my documents)?
Snapped one Saturday for Ardoch.
This weekends lack of action is a pain as I think the next 2 games are going to be tough - Aberdeen having beaten Ran@ers Hearts and Falkirk and then - depending which team turn up - away Hibs. would have been nicer to keep rolling.

Shaun is making a habit of scoring "goals of the season" - long may it continue !
Does anyone have a link to top scorer's table (all competitions in Scotland). I think Boyd is out on his own, but I'd like to check where Hartson and Magic are placed and their goals/games ratio.
Couldn't find any info on official site about Celtic's scorer's this season... typical.

Scotland squad for next week, places for hoops....

Surely big McManus should be in with a shout?
-
zbyszek There is no problem for Big Artur. The team and management are treating the whole story as a joke. You will however see why we hate the media and are trying to make sure no Celtic supporter ever believes their lies. Sadly some of our supporters still listen and read this rubbish and until the lies are made clear worry about this nonsense. The good thing is the more this happens the less of an audience the have and the joj ke is they will end up putting themselves out of business. Let everyone in Poland know we are all behind Artur and that we know the Scottish press for the anti-Celtic scum that they are.
-
Watched the game in the Middle East. It was broadcast on an arab channel with a scottish feed - possibly setanta?
Anyway, while Celtic were sitting 5-1 up the commentator states that "the amazing thing is that Dunfermline have had more shots on target"?
My selective filter was watching something else.
Mark Wilson was superb, although P8ddy will probably be pretty annoyed at his positioning for our first.
-
sixtaeseven,
Just for you...
top scorers!
You can see individual scorers stats on the official site if you go into the squads and select each player...no table though!
-
Should say that I dont think Boyds goals for his new club are included in that table, I'm sure hes on 20, not 15.
Magic will catch him!

What channel in the middle east? My old bhoy works in Kuwait and I'd love to be able to tell him.
Thanks

KD FFM when you say an Arab channel do you mean Dundee Utd TV? Didn't know they had that.
I watched the game in the Dubliner in Göteborg, nice pub and good atmosphere though as it's the CSC I was expecting a few more Tims there.
Highlight of the afternoon (after Lenny's goal) was when some older English guy walks in and asked me what the final score was. '8-1', I said. 'Really?! But rangers won yesterday too!' I nearly fell off my stool. Like the Also Ran-gers were keeping up the pressure!

Martybhoy, kd-ffm, the channel is ART. We have had the last three games broadcast live in Dubai and usually get ART live for (at least)every other game, only thing is it's a choice of arab commentary or Joke and eh eh Mark. When it is not on TV then we have Celtic TV to fall back on so that any visitor(s) to Dubai should visit the Dubliner's at Le Meridien home of the Dubai Hoops CSC to see the gemme if on holiday or business etc. You will be made most welcome. Check out www.dubaihoops.com for updates. Cheers & Hail Hail. BTW How's it going Kano?
-
zybszek-
We knew yesterdays papers were telling lies because you had already translated the article for us.
thanks again.

Martybhoy,
think it was ART 3 - (Arab Radio + Television)!

Carlsberg don't do weekends,but.. -got t in the park tickets -Carlisle Utd 5 Rush and Diam 0 Pars 1 Hoops 8[eight],as the teleprinter would put it.
Had excellent view of the team warming up-there seemed to be an excellent spirit in the group, and good rapport with TB,although he may want to ditch the Jimmy Savile hairstyle.
Only 2 wee midges in the butter-Boruc at fault for the goal, and Petrov could have been subbed earlier.
Do any senior citizens of CQN remember a game at Parkhead against Dundee,we were 2-0 up at halftime through 2 sumptuous goals from Burns and Nicholas,TB was playing really well, pulled up with an injury in the second half, refused to come off and Dundee got it back to finish 2-2. At the time it was regarded as a'blip',but that was the year the Arabs won the league[I think],so the 2 points dropped were costly.
Not the last time Dundee have cost us the League.

'Anyway, while Celtic were sitting 5-1 up the commentator states that "the amazing thing is that Dunfermline have had more shots on target"?'
KD, check out the match stats at:
http://tinyurl.com/rmb9r
...and you will see that Dunfermline outdid Celtic on "goal attempts", corners won, and times caught offside. And Celtic committed more fouls to boot.
I can see some tawdry tabloid twisting that lot into some sensationalist summary of the game.
But your commentator's assertion that Dunfermline had had more shots on target than Celtic (when Celtic were leading 5-1) must have been mistaken, as according to the above source Dunfermline only had 5 on target in the whole game. (Assuming of course that the linked website is correct)

Completely off topic and nothing at all to do with the hoops.
Is Riquelme fit?
and
Why wasnt Sorin playing Saturday?

Hi everyone, I've got a question. How many times did Henrik score 4 goals?? And how much hattricks did he collect?? And what about Hartson??
