Sign Shaun now !!!

[ knocks gently on door ] hello ? anyone else here ?
-
I think that, although it was a harder fight than it should have been, it was three good points on Saturday. Important to keep the winning streak going.
On a separate note, interesting to hear Gerry Armstrong acknowledge that Barca were missing Henke’s goals and workrate during “el classico” last night. Boy were we lucky to have him for 7 years.
Hail hail

On the Shunski front - is he still making headlines in Japan ?
I'd imagine his Champions League belter against Man U would have made a few headlines...
Are Celtic seeing a 'bounce' from this ?
Oh, and in answer to the question - aye, I'm enjoying match days at CP these days. In the first half on Saturday there was some fantastic pinball passing.
Thought it interesting that Petrov has implored Sean to stay...
-
Paul,
How can you mention saturday's game in relation to showboating, yet not mention Paul Telfer's backheel pass to the goalkeeper??
There's a player who's confidence is growing. Despite the old trafford game being his worst performance in the hoops(sic), his last two games have been by far his best.
An unchanged back four tends to breed confidence and stability througout the team, however the knowledge that we have Baldé and Wilson (almost) challenging them shows how far we've come since the cracked-crest headlines of the, ahem, all important pre-season friendlies.
The future's bright....it's green and white
-
Didn't see the game and looking forward to the rerun some time this week on Celtic TV. Winning is the main thing after the midweek excellent performance. I would hope that as the seasomn progresses we rotate the squad a little more, giving Pearo, Deeks and also Marshall some much needed match practice to be ready if necessary.
Spoke to brother Evil, who enjoyed the match on Polskavision, who said we looked very comfortable and most of the reports I have read have concurred with this.
Does anyone have any idea, when JFK could be seriously looked at for playing, or is he still a few months away from the first team?
hail hail one and all
baldy
-
TheLeftWinger, my apologies, you have a very valid point. The Telfer back heal deserves a DVD release of its own.
-
....but in which section would you stock it?
Horror?
Comedy?
Drama?
Suspense?
-
Paul yes we are playing some fantastic stuff but the game on saturday was one of the poorest celtic displays for months.
Kilmarnock away on sunday will be our big challange and should be a cracking game.
As regards telfer i agree our most consistent player and great to have him in reserve when Wilson is back fit.
-
Hi Paul
Apologies for moving away from the football aspect of the blog at the moment but can i ask if you (or CQN) have any knowledge on the celtic poker room that was advertised during the game on saturday? Further to this, do any of our american based bloggers know how the prohibition on internet gambling actually affects them? I am not sure whether american based sites are to be shut down or whether it will be illegal for people in america to access sites from anywhere in the world. This will surely have an impact on the success of this venture.
Secondly, can I ask if anyone here know about image rights for the players, specifically former players? A new Jinky video is due out soon and I am wondering how long celtic are allowed to keep releasing 'new' material of jinky. Do they need permission from his family or since the footage will be from when he was a contracted employee of the club, do they actually own this material?
Yours in celtic

Has anyone noticed how Miller's first touch seems to have got much better ?
WHen he arrived at the club there was lots of moaning about how it often let him down.
Not at the Benfica game...

Harking back to Oldtim67's post last week, regarding Jock's teams having tied up games within the first 30 minutes or so.
That was truly the case and if the result was obtained early on, then we just shut up shop and played out the remaining time.
However, if resistance was stubborn, we were treated to perhaps a second half of all out effort, greatly increasing the entertainment value for our money.
I never heard anyone complain of being short changed, as Jock had the fans educated into what he was doing and that philosophy added to the longevity of his team and kept them fresh throughout the season and towards NIAR.
Another thing about the Big Man was that he very, very rarely subsituted an off form player. Whether that was because it would be an admission of a wrong selection on his part, or his way of not undermining player's confidence.
As OT67 also observed, we were virtually assured of winning every week, especially at home, so in our case, we used to select a player each game and watch his performance very closely. A kind of Player Cam, if you wish. Through this technique, I realised what a great player John Clark was, for instance. This way, every game had something different to offer and we never became blasé or arrogant about the priveledge we had.
I think GS is similarly trying to educate today's Celtic supporters into the reality of the modern game. Unfortunately he is meeting some invincible resistance.
Perhaps, the message will eventualy get through to the attending whingers and moaners who don't appreciate how lucky they are to be able to attend Celtic Park.
-
Evander Sno was excellent again on Saturday. He is making big progress and looks like he is on his way to being a great player, He just needs to shoot\be a bit more attack minded in front of goal. also Miller was great in the 1st half but I think he picked up a knock which quietened him down.

PJBhoyNYC re last Blog, many thanks.

Why all the talk of Paul Telfer's back-heel? I'm not exactly a top player, but even I managed to back-heel the ball to the keeper at 5-a-side last night...
...and nearly scored!
(Next time I hope the keeper will actually be watching the game.)

"Celtic are cruising away from their unchallenging league challengers in what is destined to be Europe’s most one-sided championship"
You’re a good lad Paul but this is a dangerous message to be broadcasting, we all know there are problems behind the scenes, Maloney's contract, Derek Riordans not happy, neither is David Marshall, big Bobos been very quiet, injuries are beginning to pick the team rather than form, I could go on but don’t want to be written off as a mineshafter. These niggling problems - and lets assume we lose a game at some point this season - could yet do us some damage.
Agreed we are in a good position, but we've been there before (Black Sunday, Lyon) and blown it. Things are going well but lets not count our chickens, the red tops are masters at the art of building them up (they can only throw it away now) and then knocking them down. Let them do that - then we can have a laugh.
There's no need to assume we've got it won before we have, we've got nothing to gain making that assumption, lets win it before we start boasting about how easy it all was.
-
We blow very hot and cold in games - cant seem to sustain a good spell for more than 15 - 20 mins at a time - its starting to baffle me (and annoy)!
Shuan Maloney`s contract was discussed at length yesterday - BURNLEY 78 in particular seems to think that Maloney wants so much money that he would be breaking the WAGE STRUCTURE!!!!!..............Could you maybe put the record straight (as far as you know) Paul ...........Black propaganda harms truth and justice.
-
Sorry Paul but i can't agree with most of your post.
Naka has to become much more consistent for me.The DU fixture summed him up in one match.
His first 44 minutes were simply awfull.Among his many strength's is his touch. This had desserted him.
His main weakness is that he does not like the physical side of the game. With his touch out of sorts ,he was like a man short.
Then he gets a goal ,his confidence soared and we have a world clas performance in the second half.
Especially away from home he has been posted missing much too often.
He has shirked a couple of challenges ,that have cost us dearly.
The one at Inverness ,that lead to there equaliser ,springs to mind.
I am a fan of his however, and on Saturday his two passes were both, sublime and effective.
On his game he could open a tin can with that left foot.
Off his game, he shirks to many challenges for my liking.
He is one i love to watch however.
I also thought that the atmosphere on Saturday was very poor, and that at no stage, were the points safely in the bag.
Motherwell, always posed a danger ,against a very lacklustre Celtic.
I do agree on Magic however.
His goals will be vital in the coming weeks.
Kenny Miller retained the faith of our support when he wasn't scoring .
This was because of the level of effort that he was putting in.
Magic wasn't scoring as regular as he had been, by his standards ,but he also seemed to be lacking in confidence and effort.
He remains the best finisher at the football club.
I still think despite his great efforts that our best pairing will end up being Jan and Magic.
Kenny Miller has, and will continue to have a major part to play.
His fantastic work rate will burn him out and this is when Magic will have to step forward to the plate.
As he did on Saturday.
Hopefully our lack of fullback cover will not be exposed before we can remedy it during the January transfer window.
Talking about asset management.
Big Jiri is a worry.
He is one that from what i have seen so far ,i would contemplate moving ob very quickly before his value decreases too much.
I know it is early days but his nochalant attitude is a concern for me.
Nothing seems to bring about any sense of urgency from him.
-
You guys must be seated in the North Stand. During the first half, us Southsiders were left dumbfounded by a Telfer nutmeg. A Telfer Nutmeg! What a player. Always said so...
Paul, encouraging movement on the share price recently. Is there much volume in these trades?
-
last post should say nonchalant
-
NewsFlash - Jiri Jarosik spotted stretching for a 50/50 ball and I think he even threw in a slide tackle on Saturday! easy JJ dont over do it.
-
Hell of a week coming up. Away to Kilmarnock on sunday, Benfica in Lisbon midweek, then Hearts at home.
3 wins out of 3 in this run of games would be something to smile about. Anyone still feeling like counting chickens?
-
Paul
Gordon Strachan's press conference on Friday, when questioned on Nakamura.
He said "he's either good or excellent"
We are getting a more consistent performance this season, the bigger the game, the bigger the performance. A star.
On Telfer's backheel, the guys round about me, even applaused. That is something.
Heraldo
-
I agree entirely with those cautioning against counting our chickens.
However, I remarked to a mate this morning that a win over Hearts a week on Saturday and the Huns on December 17(?) means we'll be singing championees while eating our turkey!!!
-
GM,
I wouldn't even count Rangers as genuine compeition.....
If we beat Hearts, we'll be celebrating the title as we're letting off fireworks as opposed to waiting until Santa brings us the trophy.
Perhaps even Fernando would join in the pyrotechnic celebrations?
-
Vinnie, at the risk of giving material to those who seem to write down anything contentious that I say for future reference:
I strongly believe that Shaun will sign a contract within the current pay structure.
There are one or two matters to be taken care of before the deal will be concluded, which will take the next couple of weeks at least. The announcement could take some time yet.
On this subject, Nuclearfalloutbhoy, I read your comments from yesterday evening circa 7:30, “For Maloney read Miller, Liam Miller, ungrateful we so and so”.
Unless I am a mile off on the consensus of feedback I am getting, and you have better information that contradicts what I am being told, I would not advise using such harsh terms against a Celtic player I expect to be around for some time to come.
Tinytim, Jiri is one whom I am sure we could sell on at a profit in January, though I am sure this would depend on a suitable replacement being found first.
The Battered Bunnet, there has been low volume in recent share trades. Good to see it on the up all the same.
Heraldo, agree, we get the best out of Naka on the big stage.
-
Football supporters are naturally pessimistic, after all, we all lose more trophies than we win. When we play like Arsenal played yesterday I`ll become super confident.
It`s great to have a lead just now but we may need it as we head into winter.
-
Agreed Paul, comment withdrawn, but if it does come to pass I reserve the right to re-instate:¬)

Great No. 8, on your question on Americans’ gambling online (HR 4954)…the new law won’t prevent Americans from accessing gambling sites online, since most of those sites are offshore and not under US law. Online gambling is already illegal in the US, but you can’t control the internet sites people access from their personal computers. So what the Congress has done was target the only institutions they can- the banks (always follow the money...). The legislation makes it illegal for US banks to process payments from customers to online gaming sites, thereby making it impossible for online sites to collect their monies- meaning they obviously won’t want to serve US customers. There are ways around this- online sites could choose to use third-party payment sites (since the legislation is specific to banks, not any other vendor). So a gambling site could authorize someone like Netseller to collect money from a user. Netseller then passes the money to the gambling site’s bank on their behalf. It’s harder to do and not many sites will go through the trouble- some of the ones with a greater percentage of Americans might do it to save some business. But there’s also the chance of either two things happening over the next couple years:
1. Legislation is overturned within three years
2. To even further control things, IRS becomes involved to an even greater extent, beginning to track any players’ winnings through these third-party sites, thereby scaring most players into quitting
Hope that helps…

Like most contributers I am happy with results and style of play this season. Take a bow WGS.
The beauty of football and what makes it great is by it nature success is cyclical. We cannot expect to dominate forever. However by prudent fiscal management and workable wage parameters our success can last that wee bit longer.I also believe wee Shaun will commit to a new contract within the clubs existing wage structures.Hail hail!
-
Hanif,
You asked about our current profile in Japan. I hope Kitalba won't mind me quoting from his post on the previous thread - looks like the Shoonski effect is kicking in;
"Just got a call from a friend (Spurs Supporter) who has just returned from a holiday back in the U.K. He stopped of in Tokyo on the way back and he was saying that the local papers were full of nothing else but Celtic and their win over Benfica. He was saying every where he went Celtic strips were to be seen. He knows his football and is well travelled but he was saying that he has never known anything like it.
And believe me he is not a great lover of Celtic. He too thinks that the day will come when Celtic will be in direct competition and he sees them as a direct threat."
Paul, much as I admire your bullish approach I still think that we have a challenge in the 3 SPL games immediately following our remaining CL Group games. We've done very well to pick up maximum points so far but now that the CL stakes are getting higher & with 2 difficult overseas trips to come our attitude in those games will be crucial, particularly if results don't go our way in Europe.
Having said that, even if we do make the occasional slip up I don't see either of our rivals being capable of putting together a sustained challenge.
-
Hi Paul
thanks for yet another stimulating article. I say 'stimulating' because I find myself agreeing with some parts and disagreeing with others.
The general tenor , I hope is underpinned by an atempt to properly focus fans ambitions. We should be able to 'showboat' in this campaign because we have by far the best players - a remarkable feature is that there is not an obvious Rangers player who would get in our 1st eleven?
Our focus should be on progressing as far as possible in Europe - however we have to be realistic.
As for Naka - like so many blessed with his skill but lacking 'fight' he is at risk of becoming a Juninho - I remeber the Bordeux friendly, O'neils first game thinking how much a class apart that guy looked. Didn't help him much in the SPL though. Naka is clearly making more of a contribution - but a Henke he is not.
I'm interested that you are so sure Maloney will re sign. You are right to say his demands are within the structure - they are equal to kenny Miller's salary. about right for out best player last year, I'd say.
as I've stated before Riordin is key to Maloney situation -anyone have any 'inside' on this situation?
-
Paul
I posted a suggestion a few weeks ago about the possibility of a CQN get together before/after the AGM this week. I have been on hols recently but are there any takers?
-
I watched the Benfica game a couple of times last week and for me it highlighted the vast improvement in Naka's all round play since he joined Celtic. He abviously had the talent already but he has added a new dimension. The same applies to Aiden - he has improved immensely under Gordon Strachan.
Watching the 3rd goal for the umpteenth time Naka's quick touch to Miller then his movement round behind the defence to receive the return ball were the mark of a hungry player, playing for the team.
He and Telfer have a solid partnership - they help each other out, front to back down the right hand side. The one time that Telfer got skinned by his opponent on Tuesday, who was there to chase the guy down and make sure nothing came of it but Naka. I think Naka enjoys playing with Telfer, possibly because PT is a cool head on the park and always willing to give Naka an 'out'.
Didn't see much of Saturdays game yet but did see Naka's pass for Magic's goal - inch perfect.
Agree that he is lightweight in the tackle - Jinky proved that you can be the smallest and the bravest player on the pitch, but these players are only seen once in a lifetime - but we are extremely lucky to have Naka in the hoops.
-
Nakamura is technically the best player in the SPL.
His first touch is worth about 4 touches to other players.
His ability to use his right foot when required means when he 'fakes' to go outside, the defender has to react knowing that very occasionally, Naka will exploit that.
In the last two games, he has gone in for 50:50's, slide tackles, and even won a header or two.
I reckon about 95% of our goals this season have been a direct assist from either Nakamura, McGeady or Miller.
-
I've been lurking around here for a while and I've got to say it's probably the most erudite Celtic forum on the net so ... I'm in.
As a first time poster I fully expect to be treated with a degree of cynicism but what the hell. I do have a little inside info on the Maloney situation. His agent is being "difficult" now obviously knowing that time is not on PL's side. He's also asking for "silly money" although I've no indication of what the definition of "silly" is in relation to the current wage structure in place. It's safe to say that the club's opinion of Maloney was one of a sensible guy who has his feet on the ground (unlike Miller, L)is receding the lomger this goes on. I genuinely believe that Maloney wants to stay but the club will not be held to ransom. Asset management is most definitely in play.
-
Andycol, good call, anyone want to meet up prior to the AGM on Thursday let me know.
Any suggestions of a venue?
Cultsbhoy, you are welcome. I don’t think Naka deserves the Juninho comparison, though I agree, touch players tend to be mercurial.
He is struggling with the language (still using an interpreter) and a long way from home. Remember the words of Roy Keane on how difficult it was for him to relocate to Glasgow.
-
Paul,
Are Nakamura's family still living in Scotland, or did they move back to Japan 'permanently'?
I'm surprised that after 18 months in another country, surrounded by english speaking colleagues that he hasn't learned more of the language.
My brother moved to Japan about 5 or 6 years ago, and had picked up enough in the first year to get him by....and acquire a fiancé who's english was very limited.
I would hope that as more time passes, we will see even more from him.
As i said, i believe him to be by far the most talented player in Scotland
-
It astonishes me that people want to jump on the back of Jarosik and some even want him out in January.
Why do people have a problem with having quality players in reserve? Having someone who can come in to maintain the quality of the first 11 is an essential part of being a big European team - something we are aspiring to.
Jarosik is a top quality player, have no doubts about that. He is still settling in to his new environment and has not hit the ground running, not all players do. He is a victim of the excellent improvement of other players in the team.
Jarosik will develop into a top drawer player given the right coaching and run in the team in his correct position. Much of this is down to the manager. Given a run in the team – HE HAS NOT YET BEEN GIVEN ONE – he will develop an understanding with players around him and those players will also learn how to utilize his strengths.

World In Motion…. Or Going Through The Motions?
Match review and a blether posted on www.thelordofthewing.blogspot.com
-
Mncelt,
Must agree with your point re Naka & Telfer. I believe the improvement seen in Telfer lately is in part due to Naka’s willingness to help him out with his movement, giving Telfer more of an options with his distribution. To this end, I believe Neil Lennon is more alive to Telfers needs than was the case in the past. The result of good coaching IMO.
-
Don't wish to be either sensationalist or pessimistic but a chap in the office lives in the same block of apartments in Bothwell as Shaun Maloney.
SM's flat has just been put up for sale (cast iron fact).
Read into that what you will. . .

He's probably moving to a big, posh hoose near Lennoxtown.

Kingofcows
Thanks for the info, that is right on the money and makes a lot of sense from the government position by targeting the transactions rather than the activity. Do you know if there is a feeling then that this legislation may be overturned if the mid-terms kick up a surprise and then the election follows suit in 2008?
I had heard that this legislation was a republican move to shore up the values voters ahead of the mid-terms in November. A lot of euro based online gaming businesses are cutting their losses on the american market and have issued revised earnings and profit projections based on a business model moving east rather than west.
I noticed also that celtic mad are at their tabloid best on this story and are ready to hoist Billy McNeil up the flagpole for frogmarching poor impressionable kids down the road to ruin via this new gambling site. They do however have a point on the marketing front if this poker room is only a 'skin' for a wider community. Personally, I don't see how someone can take a moral stance on celtic backing a gambling organisation when we have used the 'pools' for decades and also take a cut from the on site bookies in the stadium.
Ok, back to work I go and thanks again.

Big posh houses in Lennoxtown? can't remember seeing any !!
-
Has he bought your gaff then?
Thing is we're all getting caught up in the media storm - witness the following common statement.
'They've been talking since February and still no deal'.
No agent in the world will settle a deal 10 months before his bargaining power reaches its zenith.
Peter Lawwell has (in the past 18 months) delivered:
Departure of manager + seamless intergration of successor;
Naka + image rights;
Zurawski;
Boruc on a long term deal;
Extension + maximised fee for Petrov;
Gravesen;
VofH;
Jarosik;
Bossies - 2 No.
If Maloney is being sensible in terms of ambition and demands then PL will deal him in. If not, then we can do nothing about it.
Be sure and complain about there being no lids for the juice at this week's AGM.
-
Well said Paul
Been back in the country since the Dunfermline game and watching Naka in real-life action has been an education. Heard one guy on Saturday shout at Naka for being some sort of a bag...what he couldn't see was that he was touching the ball with his toe to nudge it to Telfer before moving around the hatchet tackle to pick up telfers return ball. Unfortunately too many people in Scotland think you must have a thundering tackle to be a complete player. As I see it he goes for the tackles he thinks he'll win.
Watching him though has been breathtaking. I never had the fortune to see Lubo in the flesh, but I guess they were in the same league. How lucky as football fans are we to have two wonderful ball players to have worn our colours? Many teams wait a lifetime for players like these.
Majic, i felt, came onto his game again on Tuesday, Good to see him on the scoresheet as he has laboured a wee bit this season.
I also can't understand why so many spare seats are there. More so the fact when the Bhoys needed a wee lift at the end of the game the ground started emptying. I saw people leave with up to 10 minutes(not incuding the ridiculously long injury time). I know people have long distances to travel but this amazes me. I have few opportunities to see Celtic so make the most of every one. And the way they are playing at the moment it feels such a privilege.
Perhaps they need to make the windfall draw at the end of the game...that'd keep people there!
-
Re: AGM compaints.
I want to complain about the steward on block 104 who seems to wait until we're attacking or have a corner/free-kick before walking down the stairs before stopping abruptly and obstructing my view.
I reckon he does it deliberately!!
-
And could someone raise the point about people pushing thru' on the stairs inside the stadium to go from the rangers end to the celtic end, and vice versa, to avoid the gates on Janefield street?
Seems to me that closing these gates has moved a problem (was there one?) from outside to inside the stadium.
And there is still a crush at the corner of Janefield, under the Celtic end.
In fact, general access/egress to and from the ground along Janefield is bad.

And, of course, the other way about! Communication being a two-way thing.
Maybe this ill-perceived belief that Telfer is no good at distribution is that while he understood Strachan's style last season, it took a while for most of the others to catch on.
Now that most players are on board to the GS way, it makes Telfer look like more of the player Gordon Strachan prefers and underlines the reason why he takes him everywhere with him.
According to our captain Neil Lennon...
"Paul is definitely under appreciated. I thought he had a really good season last year. He was very consistent and although he might not be the quickest, he makes up for it in terms of his defending.
"His passing was superb and he had a great game on Tuesday night. The players respect him and he's got their trust."
And I can't say I disagree with a word of that! As far as I am concerned, people who can't see what a valuable player he is to the team and especially to the way GS likes his team to play, don't know football!
-
Paul thanks for letting people know that Maloney WON`T be breaking any wage structure IF HE STAYS..................a lot of rubbish sometimes sounds better than the truth!

Mike
For a full-back who has played in the same role for 18 years, his positional sense is still dreadful.
As much as i think he's improved since he was 'dropped' for Wilson, every time the ball is switched from our left to right by the opposition, Telfer is yards away from his man and often doesn't get accross to tackle/block the cross. I also think Caldwell has a problem with his starting position quite often.
Suppose this may just be splitting hairs, but as WGS regularly points out......there is ALWAYS room for improvement.
-
I believe he (Telfer) was once a midfielder...
-
Mike
And Strachan seems to believe he is a defender. I believe he's got both of you fooled...

McStay,
I don't know if the mid-term or 2008 elections will affect the gambling legislation at all. While it's certainly a "values" vote, it's much easier to get the "values" voters on your side by passing legislation like that than it is for any group to keep them on their side while repealing it. Can you imagine a politician saying (several years after the fact)- 'Let's bring back gambling- it's not so bad!' Especially as gambling is still illegal- they basically would be passing a law to make it easier to break another law. Wouldn't play well in many states. The only chance they have to circumvent this later is to attach a rider to another bill (just an add-on write-in to a bill on another subject that everyone wants to pass) allowing financial institutions more leeway in reporting and collecting of monies. That's got a chance- especially if the consolidation of European and Indo-Asian banks continues; the U.S. financiers will start to push back hard on what they see as competitive advantage for foreign banks tapping into offshore markets in areas they can't. So it might become a byline to a larger story in the end.
Also, like how the Catholic Church treaded a careful line to not alienate anyone -
"The Catholic Church of Scotland were less enthuastic as it urged fans to gamble responsibly. A spokesman said, "Gambling is not intrinsically wrong. We are all entitled to indulge a little... providing the gambling is kept under control and does not damage you personally or your family."

Miketw10, TheLeftWinger,
Whatever the reason he looks a better player. IMO he seemed to be left stranded in too many games, his fault? Or others? I always felt Maloney & McGeady gave the left sided defender more options, then again maybe they made it look that way? I’m going in circles now so I will just be glad we are doing so well.
-
Michael 67
Better make that 3 then, because Neil Lennon is of the same opinion as me.
Don't know if you missed it but I'll refresh your memory...
"Paul is definitely under appreciated. I thought he had a really good season last year. He was very consistent and although he might not be the quickest, he makes up for it in terms of his defending."
In fact, better make that about 30-odd if you include the rest of the Celtic squad...
"His passing was superb and he had a great game on Tuesday night. The players respect him and he's got their trust."
But then, I'm easily fooled!
-
BangkokBhoy...
According to Babelfish it means the following:
"Method of Sending: Survey Stadium"
But it is a literal translator
-
Thanks georgiebhoy
been down that road as well....anyone know what survey stadium means?
-
Bangkok - never studied a word of Portugese but from my primary level Spanish this could be telling you to pick up the tickets at the stadium.
-
georgiebhoy - the Janefield Street gates were seen as an act of lunacy by some fans in the Upper North Stand.
I'm in section 408, which is towards the 'Rankers End', but park my car just off Duke St. If I was to "take the nearest exit", I would have an extra 20 minute walk at the end of each game.
For the run-of-the-mill SPL games I usually leave with about three minutes to go, so that I don't get hassled by the stewards in the concourse. (I hate leaving early as I've paid for a full game!)
For CL, OF and other tight matches I normally wait until about 5 minutes after the final whistle and walk across the rows until I can exit at the Western part of Janefield Street. That's great fun on a wet day when the rows are slippy!

Apparently it means method of sending / collect at stadium.

Bangkokbhoy,
I would speculate that you have to pick up your ticket on the day from the stadium.
I was at the Estadio de Luz in April and there's a decent sized reception where i would imagine you can pick up tickets.

EdwardUrsus (previous posting 12.36
I make no apologies for posting this – on a topic initiated by your seemingly innocuous posting of the FARE proposals.
After 12.24 McGraininspain had backed your insistence that your posting of the FARE document last week was not you inferring a moral equivalence between our respective supporters you go and do exactly that in your next post.
12.36 EdwardUrsus "Where I would draw a moral equivalence is in the song you mentioned, whether the last word is hun or tim (and I've heard both) the same racist thoughts are present and place whoever sings them on the same racist platform"
I think that the above passage is most revealing, not so much for what you have included, but for what you have left out. In comparing like with like, you deliberately ignore the bigger picture. Your conspicuous omission reinforces my view that you are working to an agenda that has the fingerprints of Rangers FC all over it.
Where is the comparison between 12 or 13 misguided Celtic youths singing the offensive 'darkie/hun' chorus (that I witnessed and posted my disapproval) and the offensive songs and gestures of thousands of your supporters at Celtic Park on 23rd September. It is this fundamental difference in the scale of offending behaviour between the two sets of supporters that you don't appear willing to acknowledge or accept.
I don't want you to think that I am stalking you on this issue. It does worry me though, that the mindset you demonstrate, is one that is widely held by many in Scotland –led by a robustly pro-Rangers media with major PR clout- who would have us believe that Celtic' have a supporters' problem similar to that of Rangers.
In respect of future UEFA treatment of both teams, I want Celtic to be completely uncoupled from Rangers and not roped in with them, no matter how many joint anti-sectarian initiatives they want us to become involved with. By all means let's us all do our bit to endorse and help further the aims incorporated in the FARE document. But separately please.

thanks all...
now a nervous wait to Lisbon to make sure all has gone ok.
Had a feeling it was a stadium collection and thanks to those who replied...
Now for a historic victory on the 1st!!

I too am in the North Stand Upper (405), and I am aware that part of the problem is the over-zealous stewards in the concourse.
What really gets my goat is the punters who push thru' on the actual stairs to get to the other end. These stairs are fairly steep, slippery when wet(good name for an album, that) and not the easiest to negotiate if you are too young, too old, or a bit tippsy.
Perhaps a "keep left" policy in the concourse and on Janefield, as employed in the St Pats of my youth, would work? Two guys with loud hailers at either end of Janefield, encouraging us to "keep left" would be worth a trial, surely?
Anyway, plea (and little rant) over.

Romanov in the Celtic Park dugout?
Valdas has to take a 2 week leave of absence due to a health issue.
Joke Football Club, sooner they implode the better.
-
Just heard that Ivanauskas at Hearts has been given a "2 week holiday for health reasons"
What's that all about? And where's the holiday? Siberia?
Hmmmmmmm!
-
Perhaps it's a beach holiday so he can go swimming with the fishes??
He will no doubt be wearing a pair of trendy concrete wellies at the time..........

THE LEFTWINGER
...Would those fishes not in fact be piranhas, called Romanov and family!

gerry, thanks for posting the pictures, it looks a great site and away from the public glare. We can look forward to a bright future with some new stars coming through. Can i ask is the whole project already paid for or will it be paid over a fixed term? The site reminds me of a Spanish teams training facility- I think it was Malaga- in the mountains and was very impressed.

It was paid for with the last share issue, I take it the final payment will be when we get the keys of the builder next year sometime.

EdwardUrsus...
I for one would be proud to stand arm-in-arm with my fellow citizens, whatever their race creed or colour, in the fight against racism.
And I for one appreciate your postings without qualification.

Pibroch94 :- said :- I make no apologies for posting this – on a topic initiated by your seemingly innocuous posting of the FARE proposals. I have been posting FARE news on here for almost a year now, you are the only person to have complained or to have ascribed an ulterior motive to me over it, I have no motive other than passing on what I feel is an interesting and relevant newsletter to a wider audience.
After 12.24 McGraininspain had backed your insistence that your posting of the FARE document last week was not you inferring a moral equivalence between our respective supporters you go and do exactly that in your next post. Correct but on a different point all together based on information given by yourself and covering a single specific instance.
12.36 EdwardUrsus "Where I would draw a moral equivalence is in the song you mentioned, whether the last word is hun or tim (and I've heard both) the same racist thoughts are present and place whoever sings them on the same racist platform" I stand by that statement both are equally reprehensible.
I think that the above passage is most revealing, not so much for what you have included, but for what you have left out. In comparing like with like, you deliberately ignore the bigger picture. Your conspicuous omission reinforces my view that you are working to an agenda that has the fingerprints of Rangers FC all over it. I left nothing out, I mentioned a specific circumstance, (the offending song) I am not working to any agenda on here no matter what your view is, I have several times stated my reasons for posting on this site. I have no connection with Rangers other than being a long time fan.
I made no comparison between the two and if you had read previous posts of mine you will see that not only am I willing to accept that many Rangers fans sing sectarian songs I have openly condemned it, I have also openly stated the problem is far smaller amongst the Celtic support.
My mindset is anti-racist, anti-fascist and anti-sectarian, so you seem to have me mixed up with someone else. As to media leanings I have no control over that but can't see why you equate my view with theirs.
For some strange reason you seem to go over m
