'mon the Hoops
-
Any idea of the team line up?
-
Feel unusually nervous today. like before a Rankers game.
-
-
Can't believe Beattie is playing.
Oh well, let's see what he can do.
-
In all seriousness we should not be nervous about this game.
The team need to go into this game with a single purpose and that is to hammer home our intent to win the title ASAP.

My blogger name give it away but I guess people would know I went to one of those schools some want banned.
While there I was taught English.
I like the definition of "minority" ..... "forming less than half of the whole".
Two saturdays ago I was able to spend a few hours reading the websites and browsing you tube.
The clips on show from Rangers Osasuna and the previous weeks Celtic Rangers match were numerous.
Maybe its my poor education, but when reviewing the evidence, is the minority the group who are not behaving in a secterian manner ?
The evidence also shows before, during and after the matches.
Its not isolated. It their cultural norm.
-
We haven't really started yet - Neil has mishit a couple pf passes
Arabs looking lively - ref giving all 50/50 calls their way

1st corner to us

Headed wide by Caldwell - free header 8yds out

best move of the match - corner Celtic

JVOH did really well in the corner - good passage of play - good possession - a couple of whipped crosses - corner

Aiden running with confidence - reminds me of Eddie Gray today
-
27 mins. Good game so far, United having the better of it. Aiden looks like he is enjoying himself, he has taken on 2 or more players a couple of times.
-
Craig looks terribly ponderous
-
I'm afraid this is yet another poor performance.
I'm struggling to find anything positive to say.
-
Daly is causing us some problems - very physical
-
Midfiels is posted missing, if anyone sees them good they tell Gordon Strachan
-
We are losing the physical contest everywhere - also need Naka or Paul H to get their foot on it a bit more
DU hit crossbar - long cross come shot
-
30 mins. Artur got caught under a high shot from 30 yards which hit the bar.
-
DU off the bar - cross come shot. Artur may have got a finger on it

JVOH needs a rocket - he's getting bullied far too easily

The Arabs hit the bar with a cross come shot
Arto might have got a touch………………

Beattie. Oh dear.
-
Beattie has even worse ball control than Kenny Miller.
-
Lennon plays in Beatts but first touch was awful.
-
nothing is sticking to the front men giving no outball. hate to say this but the midfield is getting over run, with lennon playing poorly and as yet paul hartley is looking like a hearts player giving a break much like miller.
-
33 mins. Great chance for Beattie, sent clear through by Lennon on the edge of the area, but his first touch made it a 50/50 ball between him and the goalkeeper.
Beattie went into the keeper with his studs up and was booked.
-
Beattie......useless....
First touch non-existent
Missed the chance of the match!

If Utd had someoen who could put the ball in the box we d be 3 down
-
I can't blame Beattie. He doesn't pick the team.
-
Not a convincing first half , no wonder the huns let Beattie go as a boy...terrible first touch!
-
DU - just wide. Bhoys need to do better.
-
Desperate stuff from Lennon. Samuel shoots just past the post for United.
Get Gravesen on!!!
-
Beattie!!
3 Legged Baby Giraffe has more poise
-
That said will be delighted if he bangs one in as listening to commentary on here it sounds as if we need some miracle
-
Halt time:
Dundee United 0-0 Celtic
Central midfield posted missing (again). Strikers have had little opportunity and Beattie’s first touch took care of the only good one.
United are playing well, they are a good team to watch and have made a couple of good chances.
I would make a change to central midfield before we go a goal down and find ourselves in a really difficult situation.
-
THIS IS MURDER.
I was unduly nervous before the start today...... i now feel my nerves are justified.
I can only hope that we get a change at half time.
Nearly 6 hours without a goal .
VERY CONCERNED
-
one word " POOR"
-
when Lenno gets the ball.....
He is ROOTED TO THE SPOT~
Must carry the ball~
Ridiculous~

We really need to bin Lennon, he does nt have a clue
Its like passing to the wall the ball comes straight back at whoever gives him it!!!
Utd have passed round us
Shocking, a draw will be a result here

Celtic are really poor.
Naka is having to do the work of 3 players in midfield. Does anyone really believe that Paul Hartley is a better player than Graveson or even Jarosik?
Seems to me the jersey is being shrunk ....
-
Poor, poor stuff from us again I'm afraid. The only player who looks up for it is Aiden.
JVoH anonymous, ditto Naka. Caldwell (one bad pass aside) has looked comfortable.
But the problem lies in the middle. It's painful to watch Lenny hobble through these games, as the play flows past him. Hartley, worryingly, is not much better.
-
where is zurawski?
injured I take it, otherwise why is
bog awful beattie playing
-
To all the eternal optimists that seem to think this title is in the bag...Think again,we seem to have carried on from Falkirk game in the same manner...getting more than a bit concerned now.
Big second half required Mr Strachan.
-
we're being out-played and out-passed by Dundee utd.. That's pretty shocking
-
HT Dundee Utd 0-0 Celtic
Shabby first half performance. Problem for me is that WGS will be happy with that. Fair share of possession but we've created nothing. DU have had 2 or 3 half chances but we've rode our luck.
Naka started well but then faded out. Aiden is the only player who had a good half.
Centre midfield is giving us very little. Hartley and Lennon not working. Caldwell doing ok in the RB slot.
Beattie and JVOH don't look like they have a goal in them. All in all - very worrying.
-
Hail hail
Couldn't agree more....
Well summed up,pal!
McGeady the only Celtic player, worth his wages, today.
Caldwell... very rusty....
Strachan could live to regret, giving him a game,so early in his recovery~
-
EDB, aye, could be.
Good though United are playing, they do not have real quality, so I still expect THREE POINTS from Celtic today.
-
Must change the centre of midfield by either adding TG by taking Beattie off or taking Hartley /Lennon or both off .
Wee Aiden the only attacking player worthy of the shirt .
IMO the back four are OK , they are constantly being put under pressure by the midfield giving the ball away or being passed around .
I hope to god we improve as i couldn`t put up with WGS usual quip "Playing well"....................when ?
Not for some time IMO
Get Magic and TG on ...craft and drive
PLEASE
-
The blame game has started already!
It's only half time guys. Calm down. Confidence is our problem.
COME ON THE HOOPS!
Dundee Utd 0 Celtic 3.

Last decent game was against Dunfermline, with no Lennon
Please please get him off

-
To get it up and back down so quick is the genius. Makes you so happy that we will be with us for at least another season. Go on Celtic !
-
Poor decision - never a free kick, Lee did everything right
-
turning into a bit of a battle out there. Commentator thinks Magic is coming on ...
-
I agree we need TG's energy now in midfield. Also agree about Scott Booth. He's the WORST analyser/summariser on TV.
-
Robson shoots wide - Artur had it covered.
Magic on for Craig
-
Beatts off for Magic.

we really need a 2nd. This mob look more than capable of pulling one back. Apart from Beatie's club foot, have we created another chance in open play??
-
Has one ball stuck with our midfield
Terrible
-
We need Graveson on in the middle. Is WGS the only one that can't see this ?
-
have we completely given up the idea of ball control?
-
Riordan warming up..
-
Brines is an idiot...but we're making it easy for hin....DU's MOTM
-
Derek warming up - who does he replace?
-
72 mins. nice move from Celtic. Pass from Aiden sent Vennegoor through; he shot past from a tight angle.
-
Great move. JVOH pulls it back from the line but Magic didn't make the effort to get there
-
at last, a good move. Jan should've found a better angle though...
-
has someone been slipping 'crap touch' pills into the Celtic players' drinks????
-
JVOH needs to be a little bit careful - he looks very wound up & the ref is watching closely
-
perhaps JVOH should be subbed (Riordan) and save him from further damage.....
-
Give us another, lads.
This isn't ideal for my cardiovascular health...
-
Hartley'confidence looks about as high as Kenny Miller's right now..
Come on the hoops, one more!
-
Robson gets red
-
not watching the game (thanks for the updates guys!) sporting life says utd have gad 14 shots to our 7 - is it really?
-
Naylor gets head butted and booked into the bargain..how come?
-
88 mins. Barry Robson sent off for head-butting Lee Naylor. Naylor booked for shoving in same incident.
89 mins. Vennegoor missed good chance; shot just wide.
-
JVOH in inside right channel - drags it wide - into 3 mins of stoppage time
-
Last minute. JVOH's first chance of the game - pulled just wide
-
Disaster 1-1!!!
-
1-1.. very very slack
-
Oops!
-
1-1
-
couldnay see that comin......against 10 men FFFFFFFFFFFFFF
-
Good finish - we don't deserve to win this
-
Full time:
Dundee United 1-1 Celtic
United equalised with a good goal that was not defended on 92 minutes.
-
Atrocious from Celtic. Abysmal tactics, terrible attitude, poor application.
We deserved less than a point. Rubbish rubbish rubbish.
-
there's 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back.......very very poor
-
WGS GTF
-
How a manager can watch 90 minutes of that midfield without making a change beats me. and I'm a fan of Gordon's too.
-
1-1 final score. And you can't begrudge them the point. The big question is why, with the midfield so inept, didn't Graveson feature? Unbelievable.
-
FT. That really was cr@p. What will WGS do next game? I would put money in the central midfield being the same again. Scunnered.
-
Sick of this.
I hate to even think about it lest type it but this is getting to stage where you really start to wonder if we will collapse over the finish line and try to win this.
Not much to be positive from what I could hear and seems United deserved their point.
-
time for lenny to hang up his boots.
another saturday in a bad mood.
-
Let's say 11 clear with 6 to go. Need 8 points to win it.
3 wins or 2 wins, 2 draws. Am I right?
-
honest to god guys!! what the f*** is going on here eh? all season apart from here and their wee hav bee shocking! how wee made the last 16 is a puzzle,, not sure gordon has it. with that squad wee should be walking that gamewith ease, im so annoyed
-
Form an orderly queue for the mineshaft.
I haven't been idle these past few months - oh no. I've been improving the decor and I've opened up several more tunnels.
Plenty of room, come on down, come on down.
-
With the performances we've put in this season, we barely deserve to be champions. And before anyone charges in, we haven't played a decent game of football for months. What's more, we're getting worse as the season goes on.
Today was pitiful, absolutley appalling from beginning to end. Riordan and Gravesen must be really bad if they can't improve that.
Fed up.
No doubt WGS will crack a few "jokes" and have us all in stitches again...
-
As for "generation of domination"...
I honestly couldn't watch a generation's worth of that mince.
-
Strachan has us playing the worst football since he arrived here. The major worry is the players are not interested. Has Strachan lost the dressing room?
-
What is the point of having a bench if you aint gonna use it. What is the point of playing a centre back at right back when you have a right back on the bench.
WGS and his loyalty to his inner sanctum just might prove his downfall. There are certain players in that team that are just not Celtic quality and there are a few of them.
Celtic will stumble across the finishing line to win the league. Serious consideration has to be given to who and who is not Celtic quality for next season. Terrible performance, terrible.
-
BigSwee,
It's happened before and unless our manager and players get their act together pronto, it could well happen again.
-
Does anyone else think we're drifting aimlessly now?
I am starting to have grave concerns, about Strachan, about the team, about tactics, about next season.
Surely, surely, surely, we are not about to throw THIS ONE away??
But I worry about next year. This is a side going nowhere fast. I don't understand Strachan's tactics, his present signing policy - Scott McDonald? It's an insult to everyone there on Black Sunday, I don't CARE how good a footballer this guy is (and I don't think he's all that great) - and I do not understand AT ALL why we persevere with the 4-4-2 system game after game after game, even when sides can read our game a mile away.
Does Strachan have it? We are Celtic, for Gods sakes, not some third rate Premiership relegation battler. And yet, that appears to be the mentality he has brought to our club.
When did we last DESTROY another side? Dunfermline, 8-1? And before that? Not under THIS guy. Now we appear to be a side which tries to grind out results.
Talk all you want about the size of our league lead - now receding rapidly - but I want to see Celtic play FOOTBALL.
Had we taken the three points today it would have papered over the cracks of a poor performance, one characterised by a terrible midfield display with Gravesen sitting on the bench, and Hartley appearing to play in a holding role.
And no Derek Riordan on the pitch at all.
Serious questions need asking here. I for one am not a happy chappy today.
-
This is getting incredibly frustrating and I get the feeling Strachan is going to have lost patience with a few players by the end of the season leading to some changes being made over the summer. untill then they better pick themselves up and get this season sorted before it starts to get embarrassing (a few are already feeling a bit embarrassed).
On a second note why does everyone always seem out to get Naylor? Hardly a game goes by without him getting kicked off the park or being assaulted in some way.
God knows why there is no Graveson, he must have done something to knock him completely out of favour. I suspect we'll be seeing the last of him in the summer sadly.
As for Lennon, i'm a huge fan but he's driving me mental. His performances and attitude in the last third of the season has not been adequate. I don't think he is a guarranteed starter anymore. We've got players to come in for him as well.
-
Story of the season so far , unfortunately we are just not getting away with it any more .One goal is always a precarious lead , we`ve tried to do it all season . One goal in the last 3 spl games against a woeful Darnel outfit and 2 teams in the bottom half .
I won`t be able to listen to any WGS crap today .
We`re in trouble and he must recognise it .
That midfield is terrible and he watched it without making any changes ....dereliction of duty
NOW VERY CONCERNED
and F`ing angry
-
Poor performance but we should have been 2-0 up before their goal - JVOH didn't connect with either chance.
-
If Strachan resigned tonight I would not shed any tears as I am beginning to worry about what other mediocre players he has lined up this summer.
This team is so stale maybe only a new manager could turn it around.
-
looks as though rangers dodged a million pound bullet with paul hartley. absolutely shocking.
its now a 6 game league with an 11 point lead.
losing at ibrox is always a possibility so in theory its a 5 game league with an 8 point lead.
does anyone recall when we were in a 4 game league with a 7 pont lead
that's right in 2005 in the lead up to black sunday
surely that cannot happen again
if we win the league and wgs stays i will not call for his head however how many us will care if he was to go to man city or newcastle. very few i suspect.
-
Presley MOTM?? Would have thought one or two DU players had a bigger shout...
-
Another poor performance today, Hartely and Lennon do not seem to work well at all. Both look very jaded yet they seem to play every game when available. Realistically how many of those on the park would you be happy with starting next season. I say six, Jan, McGeady, Naka, Naylor, O'Dea and Boruc.
-
I have held my tongue for too long.
Paul 67, you sum up for me with this "generation of dominance" the level of complacency we must fight against. Rangers have stopped the rot and look what has happened to the lead. Black sunday will look like a summers afternoon in Skegness if we throw this one away. It will surpass Newcastle losing the premiership. Shameful that im even having to mention this, but thats the point. This team IMHO are capable of losing the title. We cant score. We play a rolly polly midfielder who dictates the pace we play at. Anyone who still rates Lennon needs their f****** heads looking at. He is a cancer in our team that needs to be cut out immediately. Tommy G on the bench and rick Waller in the middle of the park - jesus
-
No doubt'everyone is really flying'at training but the real flying is being done by the chickens as they come home to roost.
The players we have lost have not been replaced by players of similar ability.
Ditto the manager.
Darth Walter certainly doesn't buy into the'Gen of Dom'.Next season is going to be...interesting.
-
Funny how it's easier to see the light when you sit in the dark of the mineshaft.
You were warned a long time ago.
I just hope when we win the league and probably the Scottish Cup that none of you forget how shockingly poor this Celtic side has been.
Fast, flowing football - what a joke.
Poor, ponderous passing around the middle of the park has been Strachan's legacy to this team.
How he equates that to possession football is nothing short of miraculous.
How he's managed to pull the wool over most people's eyes on this blog for the past year - with the help of the leading happy clappers on the site - is an illusion worthy of Houdini.
I despair to think what other SPL mediocrity he will see the Celtic jersey shrink to fit.
Come on down bhoys the mineshaft is open and taking guests
-
Although it makes me physically sick to type it, I would say there is now a decent chance that we will not win the league this season.
Why?
1. Because we seem no longer to score goals. Miller and Beattie are two of the worst strikers I have ever seen play for Celtic. Rangers on the other hand have goals in abundance in Boyd. They will win the majority of their remaining games.
2. Because Strachan still doesn't seem to trust his signings. For Gravesen and Riordan not to make it today is a staggering indictment of the man who signed them, given the dross we are serving up week after week.
3. Because the refs will now spring into action and give Rangers absolutley everything.
If we don't win this league, then I reckon Strachan will not work in football again for a long time. At the moment he really needs to start earning his money, settle on his best team, and get them focused on hammering the next team we play.
If he doesn't Black Sunday will seem like a picnic.
This is not a post typed in panic- we are on the slide and will not win the SPL unless drastic action is taken by the manager.
-
please, enough with the strachan out stuff. save the judgement for the end of may.
-
Next weeks game against Murderwell is a MUST win game. Unless this rot is stopped and stopped now then I fear for us.
-
Enough is enough. If the Board csn't see what is transpiring before their eyes they are culpable of a gross deriliction of duty.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if they have any balls they will thank Gordon Strachen for his efforts at the end of the season and find someone who can take the team forward.
He has had two years and resources beyond the wildest dreams of all managers in the SPL. Yet we are watching a very, very poor football team.
If someone had told me two years ago that I would be watching Steven Pressely, Paul Hartley, Gary Caldwell and Kenny Miller in the Hoops I'd have laughed my head off.
Sorry Gordon, you can take your "vision" and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
Can anyone answer this: what has Hartley contributed since he walked in to the team in January?
Why did we sign a right back in January only to play a centre back who has been out for 4 months in that position today?
Really disaapointed with JVOH today. Can anyone imagine Chris Sutton being bullied by a donkey like Lee Wilkie. Jeez!!!
We have had our heads in the sand laughing at Rangers while Rome burns.
Wake up folks.
-
No detractors from the " we are terrible" position . Must be a first for on here .
The Darnel are given another lift today . They should be dead and buried instaed they are the ones looking forward to their football .
Just saw equaliser again Caldwell lost Daly after Pressly lost the flight of the ball . POOR DEFENDING
BTW i`m not a pessimist ...just being a realist .
We`re good when we`re good and bad when bad ..... very bad just now . Let`s not kid on we`re anything other than.
Mon ICT save my day
-
I have been very, very patient with Strachan but now I am losing confidence in him. Ok I know he subbed Beattie but how he could start with him given his recent abysmal form, and leave Magic on the bench is beyond me.
How much longer are we going to have to suffer such inept performances because, let's face it, even if we had won 1-0 the play was very poor indeed, yet again.
I can't understand it. It has got so bad that, when Celtic do eventually clinch the ttle, I can't even imagine being overly excited about it. I think like most Celtic fans, it will be a sense of relief, but no pride or glory whatsoever.
I am gutted and deflated. A very poor Celtic team and it hurts me to say so.
It's almost midnight here. I am off to bed. Goodnight my fellow Tims. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
-
..and the Motherwell squad will be watching that horror show in the week. And what do think will be the message? Don't give any free kicks away outside the box, and we'll have nothing to worry about. Nothing.
-
new article posted.
-
I was disappointed yesterday to hear WGS bleating about the penalties. He was right but by going public he was either going to get every decision going (not a chance) or by putting more pressure on refs and get none. Today Aiden was fouled constantly and got nothing JVOH was knocked about, little or nothing, Naylor fouled, kicked and punched and he gets booked. 3 minutes of injury time when no trainer on the pitch and 4 subs used was another funny one.
Today should have put pressure on Rangers but has only given them a boost. Lennon and Beattie should not play again this season and if Caldwell has to play its at centre back and nowhere else, his distribution is awful.
Last rant - when was the last time we played on a pitch that didn't look as if cows were kept there during the week in Scotland.
Got what we deserved today.
WGS needs to start earning his stripes.
Gerryb67
-
When was the last time you enjoyed watching Celtic....?????
The Benfica game?
I'm getting sick of wasting 90 mins of my life on these guys. I'm sick of players like Craig Beattie getting 60 mins in a game such as this after his performance against Falkirk.
And as much as it pains me to say - Neil Lennon is going downhill fast. He plays most of his games now almost facing our goal. That 'extra yard in the head' has gone South I'm afraid. It is as if he is anticipating/expecting chasing backwards.
I would also like to know what instruction Paul Hartley is receiving. Posted missing or haring up the park chasing lost causes that his forwards don't bother with and finding himself hopelessly out of position as a result.
There seems to be a general malaise about the team. The passing is poor and ill conceived - we're getting back to having defenders that are happy just to clear their decks - against Dundee Utd?
But for Stillie showing Naka where to put the ball we're gubbed today. And deservedly so.
My biggest worry is that I could not see anyone on our bench changing that result today - Not TG not DR etc.
I'm am officially raging - going to find my power animal and my happy place - I might be some time.
Failthful through and through? Sometimes Celtic you make it very difficult.
-
That was beyond a joke if GORDO does not see the obvious then maybe we should let him go to man city, that performance was typical of how we have been playing for most of the season and it is totally unacceptable.
But don,t expect the manager to do much about it, he will make ridiculous comments and sarcastic one liners, but there will be no explanation as to why we are playing so badly or how he is going to go about putting it right,Neil Lennon was well NEIL LENNON absoloutly dire but MR Strachan has got a blind spot when it comes to Lennon, I am getting angrier by the minute
-
What happened to younger , faster , fittter ?
Lenny can only be described as, older, slower , narkier.
Paul Hartely - more like JR Hartley.
-
Dont worry guys. We're not downsizing. A generation of domination doncha know ;-)
-
Strachans interview. Total denial or stupidity. We should be very worried.
-
Absolutely disgusted at that performance. I would drop half that team, maybe more for next week. As far as I'm concerned, WGS can leave now. Can anyone honestly say we've seen any improvement over two years? I can't see any. MON in his last season didn't have us playing well - you could see us struggling, we were merely scraping victories and we fell short at the end when we ran out of luck. You can't scrape victories all season, at some time you need to find form and win with some style. In my opinion, our football has not improved at all since MON's last season.
As for the apparently fitter, stronger, faster, don't make me laugh. We're no more agile since that MON season 2 years ago. I'd happily pay anyone my whole savings if they can convince me we've played more than 10 good games this season - I'm not talking results, but performances. In my opinion, we don't get anywhere near that number. I've had pretty much zero enjoyment watching us this season - every game is a struggle, trying to grind out a result rather than doing it with any style.
Even if we win the league now, it's going to be with little credit. Every headline will be about if only Wattie had been appointed sooner, it may have been a different story - I'm not too sure I'd disagree with that. I'm generally pretty optimistic, but I can honestly say I think the reason we've been in the positions we have over the two years is the quality of the opposition. Rarely will you find a Rangers team in the state we've foundthis current one over the last two years. Same goes for Hearts - they've totally imploded too. I doubt if this team would prevail if under pressure throughout the season - the way we've been bottling it in the last few weeks pretty much proves that point.
I'm genuinely concerned now - I certainly wouldn't put any real money on us to win the league - I can see all teams playing us growing in confidence now and us getting worse by the game. If Man City are really interested, I wouldn't cry if WGS left. I've got no axe to grind with him (unlike some), but it's just the quality of our performances, the lack of any improvement over two years, and most of all his ******* irritating interviews, refusing to castigate our performances. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

Like everyone I'm disappointed that we didn't win, worse still have given the FoD something to look forward to in the run in: slight hope.
I was looking forward to seeing some young hoops getting an airing, after wrapping things up.
I'm now just wanting this league out of the way, and see some work being done to strengthen the team for next season.
Hope Hope

Chick Young with his breaking news.
Rangers to play LA Galaxy in the states ...blah...blah....exposure..building the global brand..blah.
And Craig gordon had to force Chick to admit this match will be before David Beckham starts to play for them.
Made me laugh!
