Get it right round ye Dougal.
-
SNakamura is the most skilful player at CP since the wee Slovak magician;to have the same effectiveness he has to assert himself more in games, perhaps moving to a more central position.
And for much of his Celtic career Lubo was playing with a genuinely higher quality of teammate, certainly in the forward positions, than Shunchan is now.
No doubt this will be addressed in the close season,or SN will be looking for Paul Mcstays shoulder to cry on.
-
Hearing a lot of talk about James Beattie of Everton, say it ain't so.
0 goals in his last 38 appearances.
BF
-
Kingston was involved in two decisions that went against us, the soft penalty and the non penalty after he clearly blocked it with his arm.
They should send Dougal back to refs school although I'm not sure if that would do any good, he is clearly the SPL's best time waster for anyone who is playing Celtic.
BF
-
...and of course, it now means that WGS cannot take his place pitchside for the Rangers game. Not that I am suggesting there was any hidden agenda in Mr Dougal's actions, that would just be puerile...

Not sure I'm overly keen to sign another injury prone Beattie but it may be worth bearing in mind the last time we signed a striker with stats like that:
1 goal in 28 games for Chelsea I think it was...

Hi Paul,
To suggest that he was being over officious with Gordon Strachan in order to extract revenge from their previous encounter, when the Celtic manager wiped the floor with him, would be unfair.
Very like Marc Antony on Brutus, are you Shakespeare in disguise?
I hpe you all enjoyed your day yesterday, you deserved it over the season, however if I were you I would relish it and commit it to memory, your next few years misery starts at the weekend at Ibrox :-)

I wouldn't even waste time on someone like Stuart Dougal who is quite clearly working to an agenda where Gordon Strachan and Celtic are concerned. I hope Gordon appeals the decision so we can find out exactly what it was that warranted an ordering off.
Like Gordon, Stuart Dougal could not, no matter how he tried, ruin another Champion day in Paradise for me.
Having said that I bet he is now a certainty to get the Cup Final.

Thought for the Day with Rabbi Lionel Green;
Dougal may be the Manzer in the Black but enough already with the whingeing.

Radio Clyde are running a poll to find the Rangers POTY. You may wish to cast a vote for Filip Sebo.
At the moment the poll is being led by runaway leader "Hibs Fans wasting their time" with 75% of the votes cast... that's 3 times as many as all the Rangers players combined!

Kingston is a cheating, petulant wee bam! But he looked a good player and exactly the type we need for the centre of the park. Pacey, creative, skillful, in your face from box-to-box and always on show for the ball - something we've been missing for so long.
Does anyone have a link to the penalty decision? I thought he had signaled for a corner instead of a by-kick, that's how little it looked like a penalty from where I was sitting.

BCUK-I have added my vote to the growing mountain of approbation being heaped on'HFWTT'.

Does anyone think WGS was being serious when he said there will be only 2 or 3 players brought in this summer?
Surely there has to be a clearout, and in return more than 2 or 3 players brought in. How else could he achieve the fitter faster team that we are supposed to be working towards?

Not all will go obviously but I reckon half at least should. Then you've got Naka and Boruc who if big bids come in then you never know.

Apparently if Strachan doesn't appeal the ban he won't miss the Rangers game but will be out for the cup final.

In 2001, ahead of our Scottish Cup Final date with Hibernian we had a fixture and result similar to yesterday's , a 0-2 home loss at the hands of Dundee (May 13th), The following week we lost 0-1 at Rugby Park but we knew we had enough in reserve to take care of Hibs on the 26th and we duly did.
It just doesn't seem the same this time around,,,,,,,,,hope I'm proved wrong. After the Youth Cup thing yesterday was an unexpected bonus for the press pack who were salivating over the imminent trip to Megiddo.

Here's my thoughts of yesterday...
Celts played better than they have for weeks, perhaps due to the lack of pressure...
Kingston was the best man on the park - strong, fast, skillful. Everything that his predecessor (Hartley) was not for us...
Eventful match in the Jock Stein upper - continuous racist abuse of Kingston to my right, two fans fighting each other to my left and pro IRA songs from the rear. Think I'll move seats for next season, away from the thugs and the nazis.
Doumbe at right back was great! Elvis had a solid game until the goal. Jarosik is clearly a better central midfielder than anywhere else. Naka had two successful tackles! We cant play with one man up when we have no pace in midfield to support..basic stuff.
Sign Kingston.

Kano,from the Guardian
"To continue the theme of football clubs having unusual crests or logos, I have noticed than the German Bundesliga 2 club, Greuther Fürth plays in what we would consider the Glasgow Celtic strip (green and white hoops), and moreover, has a shamrock in its crest," explains David Smith. "Wikipedia offers no explanation. How about you?"
"There is no Irish connection," writes our esteemed German correspondent Raphael Honigstein. "The shamrock is part of the code of arms of the city of Fürth (Greuther Fürth were founded in 1996, when TSV Vestenbergsgreuth and SpVgg Fürth merged), but the precise meaning and origin is unclear. It shows up in the code of arms of one leading family, others say it symbolises centuries of arguments of three local powers, who all laid claim to the city. Another theory says it symbolised the peaceful coexistence of Protestants, Catholics and Jews in the city."
Interestingly, the first of Fürth's three league titles (in their original inception) was presided over by English coach William Townley, who later took charge of Bayern Munich and the Dutch national side, while one of the club's most famous members and fans is former US secretary of state, Henry Kissinger, seen here on a past visit to the club's fantastically named Playmobil-Stadion.

It must be Momo Sylla disease, one good game at Celtic Park and he becomes a signing target!!!!
I thought Kingston looked ok, for a Hearts player. Decent touches but not the type of player that will get going when the going gets tough. Thought Doumbe did ok, bit of pace and athletic on the ball - my major question would be why at 28 has be played less than 100 games in top level football.
I've had it with Ok signings, we've enough decent players for several million, not journeyman back up.

On the radio Clyde Celtic Player of the Year vote, Doumbe leads Nakamura by 39% to 34%.

According to the BBC, WGS will face a 4 game touchline ban, as this is his second "sending off" of the season. He will have seven days from receiving a letter this midweek to appeal, so will be OK for Saturday.
No appeal means he would not be allowed in the dug out at the cup final. An appeal woouldn't be heard until July - so if he lost the ban would start next season.
-
Anyone got any news of Charlie Grant or Simon Ferry, who have been out injured for long spells this season?
-
BAZ67 and others -
Aye, you and the EH12ers sure know how to cheer up a depressed ML2er.
We ARE the champions but I dearly want to be DOUBLE WINNERS, can you imagine the jubilation in Scotland if Lenny's final match resulted in defeat ? This CANNOT be allowed to happen. The Cup Final is all I'm really focussed on now. Obviously the remaining league fixtures have some importance but we need to win the Scottish Cup. I hate the darnelists but I'd grudgingly 'trade' (copyright Jock Blue) Sunday for the Cup. Fortunately football doesn't offer us either-ors so I'll have two eithers please and thank you very much.
-
Thismancraig - yes you're right about the ok signings...Paul Hartley was anonymous and his replacement for Hearts pulled the strings. I suppose Hartley was an "OK" signing. Kingston also set up the jambos goal against TFOD last week with a similar 50 yard run from his own half.
The match shouldve been over by half time, but we dont have good and fit enough strikers. Even BBJVOH wasn't winnning much in the air against Berra.
-
Hartley booked, is he under p now re suspension and being done out a league medal ?
-
dunfydave
For me the only baffling thing about Hartley's form is that anybody is surprised. He was rotten for Hearts this season, ever since being rushed back from an operation to play against AEK. I'll judge him after he's had a rest and a good preseason with Celtic in him, 7 games into his Celtic career is not the time for it.
Berra was Hearts best player I thought, bit of potential there.
tmc
-
dunfydave -
BBJVOH did not appear to be running freely throughout the match and jumped like a bee that has too much pollen on its spindly legs (too much Robyn Hitchcock methinks)
-
Yesterday's game had the hallmark of a team who had done little or no training since the Killie game.
I would imagine there would have been much celebrating and letting down of hair after clinching the title.
My imagination further tells me that we will probably pick up the pace again this week for the weekend game, before settling back to idling mode for the remainder of the league fixtures.
Prior to the Final, we will resume full training, suitably refreshed to face a Dunfermline team suitable drained from their exertions to avoid relegation.
Coaching is a simple game really. Anybody can do it.
-
You can vote for your Celtic POTY HERE.
Obviously the Rangers fans have infiltrated this one (as we have theirs!), as Doumbe is currently leading the way. That'll impress his family back home, if he wins a POTY award after just one appearance for his new (loan) club!
-
tom the tim
I just hope the Pars have been relegated as the result of a last minute goal in the final game.
If they stay up I'll be seriously worried about playing them in the final.
-
I actually thought we played fairly well yesterday. We had a bit of fluency in the first half and there some good moves (just no end product). Not sure what happened at the first goal, as the jambo seemed to knock it through three defenders and Boruc was slow coming out...almost like he expected an offside flag or something.
I agree about Hartley - didnt mean to pick on him specifically - I know we havent seen the best of him yet... but will we ever.
In terms of clearouts, here's what i think the chances are....
Definite - Miller, Beattie, Lenny, Telfer, Lawson, Quinn
Mibbes - Graveson, Jarosik, Pressley, Boruc (£££), Magic, Doumbe
Not - Naka, Rio, Aiden, Naylor, Wilson, Hartley, Brown, Big Bad Jan, Caldwell, Kennedy, Mick, Odea, Sno
I would keep Magic, as he was magic last season and a proper rest in the summer will do him good. I also think Naka will be a better player next year with a summer of rest...
-
Danny,
If they do manage to stay up, perhaps they will have the celebration hangover.
however, we shouldn't really be worrying about meeting them in the final, surely.

Caroline @13.53 :- Dressing up in a kimono or another I've heard wearing Niel Lennon masks is funny and a good dig but I hope the sushi comment was meant as a joke and there are no plans to carry it out. There is enough trouble in the city during and after a game without folk going out their way to start it by throwing things at the opposition fans.
-
tom the tim
We shouldn't be but I am. It's very difficult to start playing well especially at this stage of the season. We can't put our poor results down to relaxing after winning the league as it's been like this for a while now.

Exactly Edward. Anyone throwing ANYTHING from the crowd is more than likely to be arrested, not to mention the damage that their actions are likely to do to our club.
I'd have said "Do so at your peril", but instead I'll say "Just DON'T!".
-
dunfydave,
My reading of the first goal was that Doumbe came across to tackle the lad, causing Pressley and Mc.Manus to stop in their tracks. JJPD had no business there as either one or other of the CBs were in a position to halt the Jambo. The hesitation gave the guy the chance to drive between them. Boruc was blameless.
Apart from that ,I thought Doumbe had a sound game and looks worthy of a punt.
-
Edward, thanks. I cannot wait to get the Cup Final over with and put the season to bed.
Tony, Gordon said he was only looking for 2 or 3 players last summer as well. Cards being played close to his chest.
Welcome Caroline.
Winningemmell, I noticed on watching the game when I got home, Paul Hartley being interviewed with a league winners medal round his neck and the interviewer saying, “Just a couple more appearances for you to qualify for a medal”.

Mixed regarding WGS ban. I think letting Lenny lead the team out for the cup final would be entirely appropriate.
As for WGS comments about hardly anybody leaving. Just want to state hear annow that I am delighted about that. I hope we hang on to Naka, Boruc, Graveson, Zurawski, JJ and even big Bobo .. unless this is a financial decision.
Lenny, Telfer and Alan Thompson need replacing. The bhoys that took us to Milan deserve to be around for another season.
Those that leave will want to leave and not because they are being pushed.
The more I hear from WGS the happier I become.
I fear that replacing Lenny will be a lot tougher than some people think. In fact I am already terrified about life without him !!

How good is your memory - Hand ball at Kilmarnock last week when Tommy G shot - pen not given. Hartley tripped at Aberdeen earlier in season - pen not given. A few seasons back Bellamy barged off the ball against Aberdeen when through on goal - pen not given (this led to the loudest booing of an official I've ever heard). Barry Ferguson trips over his own feet at ICT earlier this season - pen given. Naka pushed in box against St Mirren this season - pen given. All Mr Thomson decisions.

The hearts game was the worst I've seen JVOH play. I hope we don't try a 4-5-1 again with him up front (or anyone else for that matter unless it's practically a 4-3-3) as the ball doesn't stick to him well enough. I can't remember how many times the ball bounced off him yesterday... I started to realise what we missed when Hartson left. For a small guy Scott McDonald is very adept at holding the ball up so at least that's a positive for next season.

Winningemmell - Aye Robert Burns was a mason alright but maybe back then it was to do with organising yourself in secret against the powers of the ayatollahs a la John Knox. Or maybe it was a lads drinking club in the swinging 1870´s
I can always remember a friend telling me that on a Right to Work long march in the seventies they were put up in a Mason´s hall. A few references to work and all that ethic palava next to the triangles on the wall and all that did fit in with that. That was the first time I ever heard anything slightly positive about them.
Was that really a guy called Lennon that scored two goals for the Rangers yoofs? Hail Hail Doctor Winston O´Boogie, oor Neill and the wee Tottenham winger that is better than Beckham.
The protaganism of the ref is depressing, there needs to be more
"help" from the video playback to overrule any decision. It spreads out the work and lessens the stranglehold that these Dougal types have. Then slowly and surely the S.F.A. will have in place absolute neutrality, objectiveness and plurality. Who knows there may be a tea boy at the SFA called Lennon by 2012

From the official site:
Newsroom Staff
FOLLOWING yesterday’s match against Hearts, when Gordon Strachan was sent to the stand by referee Stuart Dougal, media reports have suggested that the Celtic manager could be facing a four-game touchline ban, which would include the forthcoming Tennent's Scottish Cup final.
In response to enquiries regarding the possibility of an appeal by Celtic, a spokesperson said: “The Club has received calls all day asking if we would be making an appeal. It is important to say that at this stage we have no idea what it is we would be appealing against.
“Neither Gordon, or anyone else at the Club has any idea why he was sent to the stand.”
nice one

Not another shout to put a man on the post at a free kick ? A man on the post plays every Hearts player onside, meaning two men stand in front of Boruc so he can see nothing. Chances of a goal are much increased.

I'm not sure what there is to gain from this, Paul Telfer was persuaded to stay at Celtic in the last two transfer windows. It's pretty common knowledge that his family never joined him in Scotland and that recently he hadn't seen his children in a month. I have a source reasonably close to Paul who indicated that enough was enough, he never mentioned a bust up or anything but under the circumstances I'm inclined to hope we never hear what happened.

-
Gents,
I agree with the sentiment - it was a very emotional day for me too. Enjoyed it immensely and not a day for me to analyse things too much. Can never get tired of it and it remains a magnificent achievement to have seen off the threat of PLG and ruined another wedge of Murray's investment.
The team now needs to concentrate on the cup - we need to start picking up the pace and start playing with less fear (and create more chances). I think we may be fortunate that Hibs got put out (though you never know what Hibs team is going to turn up).
Its clear we need some major investment of our own - I am gravely concerned at GS's comments on the number of signings he plans - I hope this is merely to put the media off the scent???
A lack of investment will result in a very dangerous flirtation with the evil ones when this should be needless.
Its not one I will forgive. There can be no excuses about lack of funds etc - none.
Paul I forsee you and I regularly jousting through what will be a very tense close season...
But for now - well done the Bhoys!!

Wgs indicated that the new captain may be a new signing. Any thoughts?
Striker??? How fast is he? Where does he ply his trade just now?
-
WGS
You might as well ask for his name :o)

Negative??( no more!)Anon
Welcome to the place, where we are lucky to reside,
It is the place where those do dwell, that in negativity, do not abide!
Enough o' that, no more of this coddling!
I cannot go on like this,it's becoming too maudling,
Mr. Strachan he is telling the Truth!
He is indeed!
Only Three more men is needed to do the deed!
We need A Striker, like a cat needs fur!
We need a Mid-Field General... Don't you Concur?
And last, but not least,we need an enforcer to enforce...
Will one be lacking, when Lennon leaves?.....
Your answer is...Indeed, Of course!
So what is wrong with Strachan's Answer?...
To us it's perfectly clear...as in our opinion... He's no Chancer!

I'd be happy with only three signings if they cost £5m each, maybe I'd settle for two at £3m and one at £4m though.
At least one (more) centre forward and two midfields are must have's. I'm relatively sure we'll keep one of Magiec, Miller or Beattie and one of the gruesome twosome in the midfield. Leaves me nervous in the fullback areas though maybe the old Chelsea style back up of O'Dea and Caldwell compensates. This of course assumes Boruc stays, if he doesn't we replace him.
Far too many players have swung in and out of the exit door over the last 18 months so I'm hoping to see less turmoil this summer. It cannot be understated that we have a squad of winners (despite the quality shortfall we've endured recently).

This very day I've supplied a Hint,
of a Striker rare, who Pierre may sign by luck and dint!
It is no matter, if you have missed the clue,
The hint is there, but the answer one must pursue.!
I have no knowledge of what Mr. Strachan said.....
About a captain? I have never heard!

"Caroline @13.53 :- Dressing up in a kimono or another I've heard wearing Niel Lennon masks is funny and a good dig but I hope the sushi comment was meant as a joke and there are no plans to carry it out. There is enough trouble in the city during and after a game without folk going out their way to start it by throwing things at the opposition fans."
There is a simple solution, Edward.
Move the match to a Friday.

WGS, no idea about the future or Perrie Doumbe, or why we have waited so long to see him.
Neg Anon, look back on what Gordon said last summer, “two or three players”. If he says “five or six” and only four arrive, there are those among us who will gnash and weep about ‘failing to deliver’.
What you should know for sure, Gordon does not announce his summer plans to the world in late April – that would be a serious offence.
I was discussing matters with the main man:
The weaknesses in the squad are very well understood.
They expect a bigger challenge from Rangers next season than I do, and plan to meet it head on.
They are comfortable with the resources available and progress so far.
Larsson, excellent news.
-
That's us in injury time with Dunfermline still leading 1-0.
-
Going into the final minute of the 90, Dunfermline are still leading 1-0 in Paisley. They should have been at least 2 up, cos they had another goal chalked off for offside, then another player through one on one with the keeper before being flagged offside.
Both these offside decisions were wrong - could this be the SFA referee squad for next weekend's game in the bigitdrome getting in some anti-away team practise?
I did notice that the "assistant referee" had one leg of his shorts slightly longer than the other, and that there was a goat tied up to the corner flag nearest this pathetic excuse for an official.

Dear me, St Mirren in real trouble now - one point off the Pit.
Still, not to worry.
Their top-quality half-time announcements will bring a wee bit of class to the lower divisions...

danny, specifically I mean the first team.
Great news from Paisley.

Charles Young, William Leckie, Douglas Vipond - your boys took one hell of a beating...

Morton reelin yeez in...
-
Looks like division 1 might have St Mirren, Airdrie, Partick Thistle & Morton next season.
If you remove us and the wee club from Govan, the 1st division could equal the average attendance of most teams in the SPL.
-
TLW
Add in St.Johnstone and Livvy.
-
Paul
Why the glee at the St mirren result? Am i missing something celtic related?
-
EDB,
St Johnstone have no fans. A couple of years ago, they were going to paint characitures(sp?) of people onto the underside of the seats behind one of the goals to give the impression of more people in attendance.
Similarly, Livi only got fans in their single successful season in the SPL....check out the alliteration WG!.....and are now struggling.
-
TLW
They had an excellent support at the weekend and not for the first time this year.
-
Is it true that Neil Lennon has a son named Gallagher and one of the Oasis Gallaghers has a son named Lennon?
-
EDB
Liam's son with one of the Appleton's is called Lennon after well, John. Neil's son is called Gallagher after his maternal grandmother (I think)

Smelltheglove, St Mirren condoned the outrageous and incorrect slur their stadium announcer made on the Celtic support.
Relegate them. Twice.

Season Played Scored Average
00/01 38 90 2.4
01/02 34 83 2.4
02/03 38 98 2.6
03/04 38 105 2.8
04/05 38 85 2.2
05/06 38 93 2.4
06/07 35 62 1.8
We need to score 4 goals in each of our last 3 games to equal our worst scoring average in the last 7 seasons. Would be nice to start off this weekend.
-
Paul67,
I'm with the main man on this one. You can't underestimate The Cardigan Kid.
I expect Rangers to present quite challenge next year.
I know they signed Kirk Broadfoot and going by tonights show he aint any better than Svesson and to me St Mirren is his level.
Old Walter will present a greater challenge. Can't underestimate him. He's lucky manager when it comes to playig against us, ask TB who will testify to that.

smelltheglove,
we all know why you posed the question but one of the biggest sinners that day in the Dunfermline defence was Gus McPherson (refer penalty for 6th goal). Gus no friend of Celtics and certainly no friend of KoK.
I for one was pleased with tonights result.
The only downside from our point of view is the Pars with Kenny are on a roll. If they stay up come the final their tails will be well and truely up.
WE must find our true form fast.
We will have no time for the two passengers we have picked up from Hearts!
-
EDB
Might be right, I've ran out of Paltrow / Martin trivia!
-
Mmmm - diff3erent stories from Collie and from Paul - whats a bhoy to do.
Collie - my negativity is like a shield of steel - as my good pal Batfink would say. Comes in handy for all sorts of uses (and its good fun too)
Whilst I agree with the strengthening areas I am very afraid if we think 3 players will do - what happenned to the fabled asset management?
Paul - I preferred your tale and hope it to be true - but as I say - from what we all witness, the team is in need of major surgery. GS has earned the right to do it - obviously I hope he gets it right - but if there is a scent of parsimony then all hell will break loose next season.
It wont be pretty...
-

Imagine St Pauli fans at one end and Blomfontein fans at the other!
And the darnel in the middle.

I accept the point re:the St Mirren announcer.
However John Yorkson will forever be a figure of intense dislike for me for his comments re: Chris Sutton and Bobo.I personally would have loved to have seen them relegated.
-

I'd have enjoyed them both being relegated but I'll settle for the darnel Saints this year.
Stephen Kenny seems to be a decent guy who given time will weed out the crap such as Scott Wilson.

I have some contacts at Dunfermilne from a commercial point of view and I hear nothing but good things regarding the manager.
Apparently he is a pretty shrewd character who knows his stuff but is also a very nice guy and is already well respected.
We should be taking their challenge very seriously.

Your information is correct I met him a few times when he was Lonford manager really nice guy well respected by everyone who played under him.
He has gained a lot of experience since then. I was at last years FAI Cup final where his Derry team did not know the meaning of defeat.
We will underestimate him at our peril.

EDB :- Shoe polish is no bother, silver polish is another matter, there has been none of that for a couple of year now :-)

2 quick points:-
1. Can we have a little clarity on what Strachan said yesterday regarding summer transfer activity! He did not say he was looking at only 3 new signings. At first he attempted to straight bat the question away by dismissing the Beattie rumour as potentially only one name lurking amidst an ocean of players his network of scouts have been looking at. When pressed, he suggested he would like 3 additional players, without any reduction in the squad. That does not mean only 3 new signings - if 4 leave, that makes 7 signings. His comment related to number of players in his squad.
2. Congratulations Celtic on another comprehensive league title success. Saturday is now important for one reason only - the fans. If Rangers win on Saturday, it is likely the media will spend the summer emphasising Smith's unbeaten record in an attempt to convince anyone that will read/listen that next season will return Rangers to the top. Whether we like it or not, there are no doubt some who will absorb this over the summer, believe it and panic (ala last summer). A win on Saturday will put much of this rubbish firmly to bed!
-
NegAnon,
I disagree. The 'major surgery' myth is that we will require wholesale changes.
2 players of the right quality and personality will bring this team to the boil.
Players that some fans don't rate are actually decent players, players who will improve a ton if we have quality in key positions.

Good Morning
I've been away. Are we still CHAMPIONS?
Was Stuart Dougal not the 6-2 referee? In which case, must he not spend the rest of his life trying to atone for his sin, and failing?
How could he have allowed that first goal of Chris Sutton's to stand? He was a yard offside.
And should Henrik not have been sent off for ungentlemanly conduct towards the last man when he nutmegged Bert?
And so on.

The goalkeeper & central defence looks OK but full back, midfield & forwards need transplants !

I know the unsaintly Saints committed a heinous offence this season.
But Hunfermline and Jokeston have been guilty of consistent bampottery for a number of years now, and putting Rangers out of the cup is but small penance.
I won't cry over either.

The value of a Catholic education and a #2 pencil.
Little Mary Margaret was not the best student in Catholic School.
Usually she slept through the class.
One day her teacher, a Nun, called on her while she was sleeping.
"Tell me Mary Margaret, who created the universe?"
When Mary Margaret didn't stir, little Johnny who was her friend sitting
behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear.
"God Almighty!" shouted Mary Margaret.
The Nun said, "Very good" and continued teaching her class.
A little later the Nun asked Mary Margaret, "Who is our Lord and Savior?"
But Mary didn't stir from her slumber
Once again, Johnny came to her rescue and stuck Mary Margaret in the butt.
"Jesus Christ!!!" shouted Mary Margaret and the Nun once again said, "Very good," and Mary Margaret fell back asleep.
The Nun asked her a third question..."What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?" Again, Johnny came to the rescue.
This time Mary Margaret jumped up and shouted,
"If you stick that damn thing in me one more time, I'll break it in half!"
The nun fainted...........

CQN this morning...
-
BigChipSuk :- I'm sure that will change after the weekend when all the bloggers come on to complain about yet another defeat at the hands of Mr Smith. I can see a game with the Celtic forwards doing a lot of running, a lot of probing but then failing to finish with a goal as the Rangers defence soaks up the pressure. Midfiels I think both teams will cancel the other with no one taking the game by the scruff of the neck. Rangers forwards while not applying as much pressure as their Celtic counterparts managing to score either one or two.
Prediction Rangers 2 Celtic 1
"Hit me with your scissor kick...UGO...UGO...! Sink the Celts and make them sick...UGO...UGO!"

Hopefully that wil stop the blog being so moribund :-)

Thank you for your contribution.
Moribund is an interesting word.
Probably a fair description of the blog this morning.
Perhaps only a little too strong to describe your favourites under PLG.
I fully expect to see a lot of life and vigour from both sides this weekend.
Can't agree with your prediction though.
In the end quality will prevail.

Morning all.
I see that thru the night the Celtic Minded site make the claim that we're supposedly in for Fernando Torres of Atletico Madrid!!!
I would seriously doubt this as I seem to remember watching La Liga the other week and Gerry Armstrong mentioned he had a buy out clause somewhere in the region of €10 Million but we can dream for a short while.. :o)
/Bishop B
-
Danny :- One can but try :-)
John :- Thanks for that, I had no idea about it, it's always good to pick up a bit of early trivia (makes me look good in pub conversations) now all we need to do is find out he was a mason and watch WG invest in voodoo dolls of him :-)
-
Edward-John is correct. He left Northampton Town in 1914 to sign for Rang###,but never played for them as war broke out and he volunteered.he had a distinguished service career, and is widely credited as being the first black officer to command white British soldiers in combat.Unfortunately he was killed in action.
There is a statue of him outside the Northampton stadium.
-
Bishop Len-I think there's more chance of us signing Fernando Ricksen!
Which would definitely be an ecumenical matter..
-
Michael :- I've just been looking at a couple of articles on him, he sounds like one of those men who should be widely remembered but has been allowed to slip from the pages of history.
-
As the nerves start about that game on Saturday, could I suggest to everyone on here not to get carried away with the fact that we have loadsamoney? We may have and to spare but already we are getting folk coming on here with rumours about the likes of Torres. We haven't a chance of attracting anybody like that (it would be great if we could) while we remain in the SPL. Let's be realistic and let's appreciate what we have. We can't just get rid of those we might want to offload. There are contracts to be honoured, besides which how many of those would attract any interest sufficent to entice the player/s to move? None too many I fancy.
Here's to Neil Lennon scoring a hat-trick on Saturday.
-
Exactly Michael!
And I hate that fecker more than I hate those feckin' rabbits!!
;o)
/Bishop B
-
Torres was a wind up on Celtic Minded, you think we could attract on the most sought after players in La Liga ? Though some on here do feel we can attract some of the most sought after from the EPL !
In order to help offload our own unwated we'll be using the services of football agents.
-
Edw-What are the chances of their being a Walter Tull True Blue Brake Club?
Anyways,we are not going to recruit players who are established in la Liga, serie A or the EPL.
However,we may already have the talent in our own reserves;and also good players are being released by the English Academies who might consider a move to CP.
Bentley at Blackburn, and Sidwell at Reading, were both released by Arsenal.
-
Michael :- If he had actually signed there might have been but sadly given attitudes at the time I doubt it
