It's like an U21 match today out there.
-
Skoosh plays for Hibs
-
Very pleased to see Teddy B make his debut.
-
Interesting team. Glad to see Bjarnason get a start as he has looked good for the reserves any time I have seen him.
No width in the team. If it's 4-4-2 then it looks like Caldwell sitting in fromt of 3 central midfielders.
More likely 4-5-1 with Beattie up front, Riordan on the left and Hartley or Graveson on the right.
What's the average age of the bench? About 21?
-
Thanks Pastyface I`d just missed the team on the radio.
Come on the Bhoys!
-
Still not convinced about Doumbe - he isn't as fast as people say and his positional sense isn't great.
-
6 corners for hibs and a yellow card for caldwell
-
bjarnasson shot forces a save out hibs keeper. Long range shot first corner for celtic
-
I think we had a shot, unlucky Teddy.
-
Gordon, I don't think the average age of the Bench is anywhere near 21.
I can't find the ages of Irvine or Caddis, but of the rest, McGovern is 22, Cuthbert is 19, Conroy is 20, McGeady is 21 and Sheridan is 18!
-
rob jones blocks shot by beattie
-
I`m not sure that Caldwell was booked.
Another shot, wow!
-
according to bbc website he was booked - not a good start if he wants to play in that position
-
1-0 to the Sheep against the Darnel
-
aberdeen take the lead at pittodrie scott severin
-
just to fill in the blanks... Irvine is 22 and Caddis is 19.
So the average age of today's bench is 20.
-
O'Dea and Skoosh handbags
-
You could be right Matt, the bench probably averages under 20.
-
The pressure of the week must be gettting to BFDJ. He swore live on air.
-
Rangers two players in the book after 1/2 an hour (McGregor and Novo)
-
Do tell us more, Ardoch!
-
What he say Ardoch?
-
He said oh s**t 2-0 aberdeen
-
Aberdeen 2 nil up now Lovell
-
2-0 to the Sheep. Ya dancer!
-
-
Caldwell nearly booked again. idiot
-
Looks like Setanta have opted for the wrong match - Aberdeen 2 rangers 0
Hibs upto double figures on corners. Scott Brown giving his all for Hibs. Still 0-0.
Caldwell lucky not to be sent off.
MON taking in the Killie-Hearts match.
-
despite having signed for a gentlemans club
scott brown continues to be a bit neddish in the tackle.
caldwell trying too hard to get in the cup final team
-
I think Caldwell is trying to get away early.
-
Where's the game on the radio?
-
gary caldwell looks like he's getting sent off but again doesn't get booked - the hook for gary at half time
-
don't think we will see caldwell in the second half
(with any luck)

you can even listen to Glasgow City ladies against hibs should you so desire

thats hibs ladies

-
Caldwell was a lucky man.
We should have subbed him immediately, if he is embarrased tough!
-
Pastyface I didn't realise you were bieng serious there.
-
its obviously the big game of the day
-
I wonder who MON is checking out at Rugby Park - Craig Gordon?
-
Thanks for the updates guys, I cannot get any audio or video at all.
-
A good first half overall, Hibs have been the better side but that would be expected considering the team we have out but a lot of the players are playing well especially Teddy. Caldwell has adapted to the defensive midfield role nicely with some really good angled passes in behind early on and needs to keep doing them. He should come off after around 60 mins though to avoid gettng sent off. I can't believe he was booked for pretty much his first tackle which was necessarily just a typical late challenge you see throughout every match and only thirteen minutes in. No surprise that the shocking tackle from Shields on Teddy was not merited a bookable offence by the ref. The defence is looking solid. Gravesen is poor again but he looks more up for it today than in recent matchest. We need to get Deeks in the game a bit more.
-
guys help me with a quiz question someone texted me with - name 3 1980s man utd players whos surnames have a connection to spiderman.
ive got two right and named 4 i think should count but he won't accept
-
Chick Young has been eating the mushrooms behind the studio again. Craig Gordon to Man Utd for £8 million??
Also story suggesting "Naismith to Rangers deal is done."
Yeah? Why does that sound familiar?
-
james also said that Naismith has a £1.5million escape clause in his contract. Don't see Rangers being able to go that far. I see Walter has already come out with excuses after loosing out on Skoosh. Claiming there will be more disappointments this summer
-
Caldwell out for second half?

madeirabhoy
Webb and Parker?

Paul67,

Madeiriabhoy,
Heard that one before, the third one maybe and I repeat maybe has slight racist tone to it. Lets put it this way the player in question is no longer with us. Sorry to be a bit down beat. I don't think the Paul67 would want to be going down that route on here to be honest.
Cheers,

thankfully we lead sheltered lifes here in madeira as neil texted back to say it was ince as in Incy wincy spider climbing up the spout down came the rain and washed the spider out. Can't think who you mean unless Dennis Irwin???
-
Madeirabhoy,
I have heard it previously with the answers being ince, webb and a striker who is now no longer with us.
Maybe I am too cynical here in Surrey, the sun in Madeira must be more soothing. I am glad you got a better answer.
Hail Hail

Aberdeen heading for Europe.
Greens stalemate - few chances. Both sides will be happy to avoid defeat. 8 mins left.
-
penalty for killie scored by Naismith

Killie one up against Hearts through a Naismith penalty with 9 minutes left, which surely clinches the UEFA Berth for Aberdeen.

Blatent dive by Naismith. That should clinch his transfer to the dark side.

-
Chick claims to Naismith that he knows quite a lot when Stevie says its all speculation
-
That was an all too predictable end to the match. To lose 3 out of the last 4 games is very poor!
Wins for the three home teams today.
-
I sometimes wonder about comments from the Brotherhood - "hail hail"'s comments have no bearing on the concept of today's match or the season as a whole.
We cannot be expected to follow blindly, but please, with reason.
I believe the phrase is "Keep the Faith".
-
The Sproule goal still not great quality, but gives the idea while we await proper highlights.
-
cybercheeko
the concept of celtics game today is that
we lost (again) and played poorly
if you are a happy clapper - then god bless you
but celtic champions or not have been a poor side
since they lost ii milan
and that is a fact.
hail hail
-
i think its hard to be to critical it was a virtual reserve team out there, will be great when someone who was at the game or seen it can post how each player played, es bjarnson. looks like o dea was out of position. plus when u have donkeys like beattie playing expectation can't be high
-
Matt the Bhoy-
Quality is everything........
I'll wait for the real thing.....
-
test
-
Never seen the match today, what was the formation and performance like.
-
Brown
Doumbe McManus Kennedy O'Dea
Bjarnason Gravesen Caldwell Hartley
Beattie Riordan
From this starting 11 maybe 5 will be starters next week.
We've been crying out to give young guys a chance. We put out a very young and inexperienced side today, and can't complain about the score.
Brown had a good game. MOTM?
I can't help think that when he dons the hoops, referees will be LESS tolerant to his aggressive style of play.
I believe we saw the last of Beattie and Gravesen today. Neither did anything to warrant a permanent place for next season.
'GG strangely detached from the result (and reality?).
-
GG Thanks for update
Did that mean Caldwell was playing in the Lennon role or out wide.
-
Central midfield Paul.
Had a few clashes with Brown.
Interestingly, after Gravesen was replaced by McGeady, Bjarnsson, (sp) looked quite good in central midfield. He showed calmness, good footwork and a calmness under pressure.
Sheridan also came on for Beattie right at the end.
'GG
-
hail hail
I'm not disputing that fact - it's been there for everyone to see - let's hope Gordon Strachan has seen it as well.
My point is that it was virtually a reserve team out there today, Although we lost, positives were Teddy in the middle in his first game, Mark Brown had a start, Derek Riordan had a game, JFK has another start under his belt and Neil Lennon, Naka, & Jan are fit and able for next week.
Hail Hail.
-
GG thanks for update, some additional options for next season.
I think TG needs a regular position
to settle him down, with lennon away this could be his opportunity.
But, sounds of it could be his last game?
-
this bloke interviewing strachan on bbc scotland is a fud. Can the team switch on again for the cup final!
Strachan sounding a little unwell though
-
Manchester United are considering an £8m summer transfer bid for Hearts and Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon, BBC Sport understands
With MON in the stands purportedly watching Gordon as well, the quest for goalies is heating up already.
That should put Artur's value in focus, and maybe an "offer we can't refuse" will be made.
The question for me, how much is enough for the Pole in goal?
'GG wearing his asset management bunnet.
-
He must be the same calibre of BFDJ
-
paul lets hope TG gets a "regular position"in another team.
-
Mr Strachan was in the stands today with his crutches.
He must still be in pain from the effects of the operation.
You have to admire his dedication for getting back to CP last week and then making the journey to Edinburgh for a meaningless fixture.
'GG
-
Terry
I had high hopes for Gravesen. I thought he would toughen up our midfield and provide protection for the creativity of Naka and McGeady. I also thought that he would be a suitable replacement for Lennon should we decide to play that style after Lennon's departure.
Is it too late for the Dane?
'GG
PS BTW I like your music. Not enough to buy an album just enough to download a couple of freebies <(^_^)>
-
gg Gravesen is not good enough,he is a fruitcake intae the bargain.
-
Terry
I agree he has poor judgement and discipline, and seems to be unable to follow instructions.
Brown renders him surplus to requirements.
Just shows you that these ex La Liga players are just not good enough for the SPL.
'GG
-
'GG,
Like you I had high hopes for Tommy, but his days are numbered now. He flatters to deceive.
I liked the look of young Barney.
Brown was all over the park. He sure will bring pace to the midfield.
-
Acht well.
Would've liked to have seen the game today just for the chance to see the experimentation in action. I can't wait for pre-season tours, different line-ups and cracked crests.
By the way, let this be the end of the Gravesen mistake. I'd love to read any scouting reports that were made from his time at Madrid. he is/was considered one of the biggest diddies in la liga. Everything we have seen of TG - being caught in possesion, the clumsy challenges and the positional sense of a dug running around a school playground - was parodied endlessly in Spanish sports papers and comedy programs. I can't really remember his time at Everton but a couple of everton fans I spoke to recently said they were glad to be shot of him at the time. When gravesen scored in his first Rangers game this was taken as confirmation of the level of the SPL. Oh tae see oorselves as ithers see us! The stick I took!
One more midfielder in the summer?
-
For pot-watchers:
Late goal hands Alkmaar 2-1 win over Ajax
Amsterdam, May 20 (Reuters)
Shota Arveladze struck a minute before time to hand AZ Alkmaar a 2-1 home win against Ajax Amsterdam in the first leg of the Dutch league playoff final on Sunday.
The return next Sunday in Amsterdam will decide which team makes the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
PSV Eindhoven secured the Dutch title at the end of the regular season three weeks ago, edging out Ajax and third-placed Alkmaar.
-
AZ'a win could be important to us - they are ranked below us and Ajax are ahead. As it stands we are 17th on the list (assuming we qualify for the group stage).
-
Gordon J,
Where does Bayern come into this equation or is that seperate and still give us some hope.
-
Gary-FTLT-I think if you took your son to Mcchuill's to watch the game there wouldn't be a problem.
The home made soup is usually pretty good, too.
-
are Bayern not irrelevant as they didnt qualify for the CL>
-
anyone form the game able to give player analysis?
from what i read strachan was not happy saying none of them gave him a cup final headache.
-
dunfydave
Thanks for update, that helps as I was not sure how that faired
-
Seville need to hang on in La Coruña to go top, with Barça and Real Madrid playing their matches later in the evening.
Deportivo La Coruña went 1-0 up with 20 minutes to go. Seville equalised almost immediately, then Kanouté scored seven minutes from time.
There are two minutes to go.
-
The 64k question is:
Do we start speculating and drooling over the squad for next season or do we wait until after the cup final?
How do we rate the squad in its present state, with no additions?
Anyone care to speculate?
Let's start with departures from CP.
Marshall, if he's still in the squad. I can't remember if he's still on loan.
Lennon.
Balde.
JJ orGravesen. Given the number of games we'll be playing I can't see both being let go.
Miller
Beattie
I think Magic will stay as back up with Scott McDonald to a front line of JVOH and AN OTHER. That means we'll be needing at least one youngster for further cover. Bjarnason Sheridan?
Goalies: Boruc, Brown
Defenders: Doumbe, Wilson, Pressley, Caldwell, McManus, Kennedy, Naylor O'Dea.
Midfield: Hartley, JJ/Gravesen, Sno, Nakamura, McGeady, Riordan and Brown. Lacks a wee bit of a ball winner for me.
Strikers: JVOH, McDonald, Zurawski and A Youngster. We definitely need another experienced striker.
Did I miss somebody? Cupboard looks a wee bit empty.
'GG looking ahead.
-
Gordon
When you say we are 17th on the list are you including ajax?
Meaning that if Alkmaar win then we are pot B?
-
Gravesen at Real Madrid was all muscle and crunching tackles but he was a very disciplined member of the team/squad. He was like manna from heaven for Real after they realised how much of a difference Makelele's departure had made.
If he gets a good pre-season under his belt, and gets to know the players around him then things may start to click.
Where would he want to go anyway? I am sure he had offers for the EPL before and he chose Celtic.
His experience alone makes it worth persevering with him, seeing how young other potential midfielders Sno and Brown are.
-
Hooptastic,
That's my understanding! Of course we have to get through a qualifying round...
Bayern Munich didn't qualify, which has helped us up to 17th. We need one more team above us to fail now, or in the qualifying round.
-
Full time in La Coruña. Seville have won 1-2. They cleared one off the line in the 94th minute.
At the top, it's Seville on 67 points, Real Madrid on 66 and Barcelona on 66 (Madrid are above them because of the head-to-head) and Valencia on 65.
Real Madrid are kicking off against Recreativo in Huelva right now. Barcelona play Atlético Madrid in the Calderón at eight o'clock Glasgow time.
After today, there are three league games left.
-
Paul.
Looks like we have another star for the future,Bjarneson looked quite a player to-day and My choice for man of the match,But Scott Brown will give Celtic the bite that we seemed too have missed this year,We've got a winner when we got him.
Teddy played well enough to stake a claim for a place next week.
-
Gordon
Cheers for that and mon the Alkmaar then
-
GG
"Cupboard looks a wee bit empty."
I believe that David Murray has been seen wandering around Govan Zoo saying this to himself for a wee while now.
Hail Hail
-
gordon ruling out a move for barton?
speaking after Celtic's final SPL game of the season against Hibernian, Strachan denied he was planning to make a bid for the player.
He said: "It's just a lie."
-
0-1 Real Madrid. Robinho after great play by Beckham.
-
Has anyone got a link for the coefficient listings on the uefa site?
-
GG,
On TG,Up until now I have had this sense of hope that if the guy is given a regular role with Lennie away, then we could see some of his positive attributes.
In spells,we have seen decent passing, lots of energy if controlled, desire to win.
I think that the manager will change the way the team plays and will probably go with three fast central midfielders and two wide type players.
If we look at the Aberdeen game, then on big parks one up front and two wide can cause problems...
However, only time will tell.
The description about the dug running loose in a play ground chasing a tennis ball will live with me as the lasting memory of the weekend. I suppose we have seen the un disciplined side of TG for too long and we live in hope that he will settle and change.
IF the manager things he can mould him then great, if not we should take the money for him during the summer and run.
On JJ, I think this guy has loads of ability, however for a big guy he just seems lazy and does not apply himself.
We live and hope and iam sure WGS knows what needs to happen....
-
Proper highlights of todays game
Roon Ye Matt.........
-
you know sometimes i think gravesen gets the short straw on this headless chicken thing.
when kenny miller runs all over chasing down and going out of position he is a hero, yet grav is a schoolboy. sometimes you need to look at why he is out of position. thats not to say its never his fault but at times he is just closing down or having to cover someone else
-
Great credit to Seville, it´s never easy playing away in Coruña and also up against your old boss Caparós and just after winning a European trophy. This team has got staying power.
Remember when they came to Celtic for Henrik´s testimomial?
I like to think we are abreast of developments in European football
-
As you say well done to Seville after their midweek exertions.
The other side of the coin sees Espanyol lose 5-1 at home to Getafe today.
-
Here's the link for CL qualification.

It's all quite technical and I'm about to have a recount on my previous prediction!

-
Watched the game here in North America. Well, the first 80 minutes or so, until the signal faded....
Caldwell...Oh Dear.
Bjarnesson...yes please. Like Sno, but with a wee bit of quickness.
TG....no thanks. Hopefully, someone in england will give us money for him. Ditto Beattie.
DOD is not a full back. Hopefully, he'll go on to a long career as a Celtic CB.
Scott Brown. MOTM by a mile. Hopefully, with his arrival, we can get away from this 'holding' midfielder nonesense. You know, the position where you don't have to run, don't need to tackle and don't have to cross the half way line.
Brown was superb today.
-
Not long back from Easter Road. Young goalie looked good; O'Dea out of position at left back and it showed; Gravesen as bad as he was at Ibrox; Kennedy and McManus good enough for Cup Final start; Hartley improved as game went on but played way to close to Doumbe, who was again pretty good; Bjarneson excellent - very comfortable in possession and wanting the ball; Caldwell comfortable in midfield but a bit rash at times; Beattie not too clever; Riordan took his goal very well but other than that had the kind of game that KM would have taken dogs' abuse for. And Mr Brown looked very good indeed. Fair play to the Hibbies who applauded him throughout.
