Kev,
You could try logging on to ‘forum.acmilan-online.com’ , go to discussions then it is the 8th thread down under ‘Nakamura’
Paul67 and any others who may be interested it looks like AC and Inter are again under investigation for some dodgies. Same address as above and 9th thread down.
Lifted from AC site…………………………
ROME, Jan 17 (Reuters) - The president of Inter Milan and the vice president of AC Milan have been placed under investigation by an Italian magistrate probing false accounting in Serie A football, a judicial source said on Wednesday.
Milan public prosecutor Carlo Nocerino plans to summon Inter's Massimo Moratti and Milan's Adriano Galliani for questioning in the investigation into possible balance sheet irregularities, the source told Reuters.
The prosecutor is investigating whether clubs manipulated their balance sheets by inflating the prices of players they bought and sold, the source said.
In Italy, being placed under investigation does not indicate guilt and does not necessarily lead to criminal charges.
Inter Milan refused to comment on the news, although they had previously said they were confident they would be able to refute any claims of financial irregularity. AC Milan have also insisted their books are correct.
Milan's public prosecutor has questioned whether Inter could have passed the financial tests required to take part in the 2004-05 Serie A season without improperly adjusting its accounts.
Nocerino intends to hand his findings to the Italian Football Federation, which could then decide whether to open its own investigation, the judicial source said.
Last September, Rome magistrates called for the president of AS Roma, Franco Sensi, and the former president of Lazio, Sergio Cragnotti, to stand trial for false accounting. Both men denied the accusations.
Other investigations into false accounting in Italian football are under way in Genoa and Turin.
Interesting.

Paul,
Our ability now to outspend Rangers and attract players from top clubs is unprecedented.
Even in the halcyon days under BJ whilst we were ahead of Rangers on the field they could always outspend us. The work of the board and PL in particular has been absolutely magnificent
-
I see Mr Henry is leaving Arsenal. Surley he would have been the big name striker we were looking for... a bargain at £16million
-
Benny very true.
It too all the self composure I could muster to refrain from asking if they had managed to sign Lee McCulloch yet in the above article!
Do you think they will turn up next season?
Remember back to how it felt when they were signing the likes of Laudrup and the flute player while we were shopping for lower league nonentities.
-
Scott Brown is good example of this as may be Naismith . Both young players with natural darnel tendencies who have and would sign for us over them.
Again harking back to guys like Kenny and Danny who were boyhood Rangers fans. The reason they signed for us was that Rangers for various well known reasons didnt want them
-
I was at the races last night and in the company of a bluenose mate.
He is just back from Portugal where he spent far too much of his holiday time trying to find sports shops that sold Rangers tops.
With no success. Every one of these shops sold the Celtic jersey. This has left him very depressed, querying the PR & Marketing strategy of his club.
Good times these.
Well done Peter Lawwell and the board.
-
This is brilliant news - a remarkable signing.
People keep saying he is a defensive, ball-winning midfielder, but a glance at his goal stats on wikipedia suggest much, much more. 0 in first 46 at Atalanta and 74 in 159 since? 1 in 2?
Paul if you expect the league to finish early this season, can we please start it early too?
-
Wikipedia also have 'current club: Celtic' - we take it the medical will be a formality?
-
What happened to the "new article" link?
"Next European Champions", love it. Someone as Celticoptimistic than I, didn't think it possible.
-
i can tell you how bad it is now, i e-mailed a cellegue earlier who played for rangers as a kid and has been a die hard all his days, he says he is completely disillusioned and he is as rangers to the core as they come, we are under their skin in a big way
Paul67, what u say about spending in line with income i think thiese signings confirm we are in a GOD when guys like donati are affordable without a problem
it still is reported in some plces he is a winger tho?
perhaps as italina teams play with central midfielders wider like seedorf etc thats what it means

Donati????????
It is hardly breaking news since we have been linked with hin for a couple of weeks. . . . .
All I can say that Mr Strachan's last foray into the Italian market produced a diamond lets hope he has done it again if it is true. BTW this was first exclusively reported on CQN by (was it Curly) when he said the deal was done and would be unveiled next week. . . .
Steelica - very sorry, but it wusnae me, I am just an ignorant teuchter from out in the sticks. If Gordon Strachan ever comes up to watch Turriff United, I will be the first to let you know his probable target, however that is very unlikely! As an example of how progressive and modern we are up here, I am taking the hooligans to the moving picture house for the matinee performance of that new film, "Gone With The Wind". I believe it is in colour - isn't progress wonderful.

Would that be the end of our pursuit of Appiah?
We still need to get someone in to assist JVOH.
-
Paul67.
I posted this on the other thread only to find that you had put up another blog, my post is similar but had to re-type it to post on this blog.
The Press are saying that Donati joins Celtic for a fee of £3m,if thats true then Celtic and Peter Lawell have done a really good bit of buisiness.
Donati cost AC Milan £10m but he stuggled to get into the AC Milan team,I could'nt see him dislodge
any of the current AC midfield.
As Frank Carson used to say (we've got a cracker),
Well done Celtic you've made my day, it just gets better and better,
Now for the wow factor.
-
As you say Paul, four players have now joined the Club. Three are full internationalists and the other the most capped under 21 in Italy.
And their average is???????
Young.
Had Donati stayed at AC, it could very well be Ronaldinho he would've been in direct contention with for a starting place.
The Bhoy made a smart move.
Congrats to him, Gordon Strachan and all at Celtic Park.
-
with regards to the fee i never believe anything anymore after the naka fee was (and still is) quoted at £2.7m and zurawski as nearly £2m when strachan stated in his book they were not
-
I'll be honest, I hesitated before renewing my season ticket.
There is something depressing about playing in such a two-team league, and the fact that we stuggled to play any football after November added to me reluctance.
But this signing, combined with Brown in midfield and a well deserved bow out by Lennon, suggests causes for optimism.
Who knows how this guy will turn out, but I'd rather be signing AC Milan players than guys from the British Army ( Lou Macari days transfer window )
I'm now glad I renewed my ticket.
-
Sorry too many glasses of Ghods water.
I meant to ask the average age of the players we've signed.
I personally don't know but it is Young.
-
Don't really know that too much about our new signing - but a quick check of his Wikipedia page suggests he's scored 91 goals in 210 appearances, which is a terrific record for a defensive (?) midfielder. Looks like we've scouted this guy pretty extensively.
Welcome to the club Massimo!
-
Brilliant
A Huge well done to Peter and Gordan.
They sure are singing from the same song sheet.
Hail Hail
-
-
So Donati........what kind of a player is he. Where does he play, what's he all about.
-
Welcome to Celtic, Massimo.
Hope your stay is a long and succesful one.
Again well done to the Celtic management team.
The jam tastes lovely these days:-)
-
-
Jist had a squizzy at his wikipedia page.
If his goals account is accurate,he is extremely prolific for a midfielder.
In fact he is quite prolific for a centre forward bearing in mind the figures are for the Italian league.
In fact looking at his goals per game ratio since joining Milan,I would be curious to know of any other Italian player who betters,or even comes close to this ratio!!!
-
The perils of relying on Wikipedia:
According to Yahoo Donati has scored 9 goals in 205 games since 1999.
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/fo/profiles/
10000000000000000000011217.html
Looking on the bright side, he must be scoring around 3 times as many goals per game as Neil Lennon :-)
With the AC Milan forums describing him as a ball-winner, he is sounding a lot more like a defensive midfielder than a winger.
-
Donati
First attempt at a link so hopefully it'll work!! See final goal for a taste of things to come.
-
Delvecchio Next?
hail hail
-
Any ideas if Delveccio is coming?
-
Ok, I'm really confused by this one now. I origanally thought Donati was the winger and Delvecchio the defensive mid.
People on a Milan forum are saying Donati is a central (solid ball winning) midfielder but can play on the right.
Delvecchio looks in appearance more like a defensive player (6ft 4" or something like that) but I suppose when you look at players like Grosso...
My guess is Donati started as a right mid but has adapted his game through going out on loan to smaller clubs - the reason I say this is that defensive midfielders don't tend to get labelled wonderkids as they usually progress later in their careers.
In any case he's probably a european type defensive mid (in other words not limited in his play) and will be a creative force rather than simply a ball winner. I'm thinking Pirlo-esque.
-
I think wikipedia has been updated now - its got donati as scoring 9 goals in total
-
from what i can glean celtic are firm favourites
to make this an italian double bill.
hail hail
-
Kano
Italian league can't be as defensive as people believe - Totti has/will win the golden boot this season for most league goals scored over anyone else in europe (I think big Ruud needed 2 to equal/beat Totti's total of 27 in the final game of the season when he went off injured).
-
exciting times at celtic but agree about the confusion
on donati's playing position ?
bbc are now saying he's a holding midfielder
they are still in shock because according to them
he is only "poised to sign"
LMAO
hail hail
-
Malone, yeah I know that,it was the ratio I was on about.
He had a goal about every one and a half games over a five year period.
Don't think even Totti or Shevchenko can come near that.
In fact don't even thin Henrik came near that!!!
Anyway,I knew it wasn't accurate.
No way he would have been out on loan for all that time if he was scoring at that rate.
Milan would have punted Kaka and Shevchenko and played Donati if he had that ratio.
-
Kano
I see! I thought you were talking about his (supposed) record at Atalanta last season - I read 9 from 31 or something like that somewhere.
antsman
I think you're probably right - he's almost certainly only £3m after all possible add-ons and clauses... either that or €3m but then that seems a bit cheap - like Rangers' end of the spectrum.
-
Well done Ghord and the Law man. Hail Hail!
-
By the sounds of it half the UK based Milan support anyway wanted him back for next season for cover and the other half think he wouldn't get his game but will be good for Celtic.

LONDON, June 22 (Reuters) - Referees will stop all matches in which soccer fans shout racist abuse at players, starting with Saturday's European Under-21 Championship final, a senior UEFA official has confirmed.
The announcement follows the announcement of a UEFA investigation into reports of racist chanting and a fight in the players' tunnel after England's 2-0 win over Serbia in the European Under-21 Championship on Sunday.
Serbia face the host nation the Netherlands in Saturday's final.
"We have decided to step up our actions and take a zero tolerance approach with any racist chants from fans," William Gaillard, special advisor to UEFA president Michel Platini told Reuters in a telephone call.
"We have spoken to the referees and we have the support of the national associations, the clubs and the players' unions for this measure."
Gaillard was speaking after the opening meeting of the governing body's executive committee in the Netherlands.

Paul67,
It aint over yet. More still to come i think. I would say this signing (excellent piece of business by the way) has put Murray on the ropes but the next signing or signings will completely floor him and his laptop loyal.
Can i just say whoever recommended Donati from the scouting team or if it was WGS that identified him first should deserve a massive credit.
This bhoy is the real deal. What a signing!! Seriously, Celtic have picked up a gem.
Roll on next week. Let's see what Laporta has got served for us. Brown was the Appetiser,Donati the starter. Main Course and Dessert to follow!!
I did mention when we were playing pretty dour after the Milan game when people were getting on the wee mans back that this season if he got the players he wanted in the close season would see Gordon Strachans real football vision. I reckon we could be about to witness Celtic go to a whole new level.
-
Who would bet against Laporta siging Artur on an extension as well.

WGS
The Times (reputable London version rather than the crappy Glasgow one) this morning suggests Barcelona are ready to release Deco.
Maybe the Rumour Mill will come true and that is signing that will shock European football.
How would that be for your main course?
-
Shamrock Diary: there was a comment in the Rumour Mill a couple of months ago stating that Scott Brown's arrival (this was still during the days when Keevins and the like had him down as a stick-on for TFOD) would see Naka move into the centre, with SB in the Right Mid berth.
Sounded perfect to me - maybe the 'main course' will be up front?
-
WGS - have you seen a lot of Donati in Serie A - what kind of player is he?
It's hard to catch any Serie A games since C4 and Bravo scrapped their respective coverages. Although I understand C5 have picked up the rights for next season.
-
There was not bad Serie A coverage on Setanta, but it's no the same without James Richardson presenting.

Here is a (copy and paste type) link to a thunderbolt Massimo scored for Parma:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMNap2fXsGA
If it doesn't work just search for "Bomba di Donati". Looks to have a powerful right foot.
Another good signing to boost the Bhoys and depress the orcs. Good analogy with the 90s Paul, it was horrible to watch them bring in Butcher, Gough, Hateley, Laudrup while we bought in Andrews, Muggleton, Hayes and Biggins. The boot seems to be on the other foot now but I'll hold off on the gloating until midnight on 31st August! Bellamy, Van der Vaart, Appiah and Naismith (just so the darnel don't get him ;-p) would round things off nicely!
Craiginho
-
From the stats below ,it would appear that we have signed a defensive midfield player, who likes to put the boot in.
Check out the number of fouls and and booking's that he notched up last season ,and i think that you will get my drift.
Something i think, that we need.

Would have preferred Appaih and don't think we have room for both. Either TG and Jarosik go or we'll have far too many in the centre of midfield. Still need a striker and a couple of defenders. Doumbe does for me as cover for both wing-backs but I'd like an experienced centre-back to go alongside McManus. I've faith that the board will want the same. BTW does 'Ciao' not mean goodbye?

Don't know much about our new signing but i didn't know much about Lubo and Naka before they arrived!
Welcome Massimo Donati.
Can't wait to see our new midfield in action.
Pace, strength and craft. It's the future!!
On another note did anyone see Scotland Today 2 nights ago?
In a press conference with Stevie Naysmith the stv presenter specifically asked him if he thought he'd get a game for celtic as look what had happened to Derek Riordan?
Also the stv presenter made a point of stating to Stevie what his allegiances were as a boy.
He gave him the pros of signing for rangers and the cons of signing for us.
It was a blatant attempt to sway the boy's thoughts towards Govan.
Now i'm not fussed whether we sign the boy or not but if an impartial tv station is helping rangers signing process do we assume the mint has control of them too?
If we end up signing the boy after all the media pressure that has been put upon him to "do the right thing" I will say it loud and clear.
Their goose is well and truly cooked!

Ciao can be used as either goodbye or hello.
-
OttoKaiser,
I seen bit of the italian football last season. The guy stood out in the games i seen.
I wouldn't see who was a direct replacemnt for Lennon. He is more technical and can start attacks and pick passes from the middle.
He riminded me a bit like Pirlo and De Rossi.
-
It would appaear that he is not a tough tackling midfielder after all.He is a good passer of the ball. The stats may just mean that he has the tackling ability of Paul Scholes.
Now there would be a signing.
-
Greendog 15.36
Are you sure about that.
I have never had an Italian greet me with Ciao.
-
Looking at the Celtic's page on the BBC we are sitting just behind Aberdeen in League, WGS must be to blame. As always Murray's Mints are sitting 2nd bottom just ahead of the drop.
Signing players for cash is the future - the revolving door is starting to speed up - the outs will be the next interesting part - many forgetting that we also have Evander in midfield for next season as well - younger, fitter, faster - Sno, Brown & Donati, with Naka roaming (or Aiden) or will we go 4-3-3
any of our knowledgable dugs, insiders or well connected know alls know what is being planned for Bobo - needs to go I think but given his stature a shame if he slips away quietly.
Still think a quality CB is needed - never fully happy really - its an afflication i think
But hey it could be worse - its not as if we are haggling with Wigan over the worst Scotland player in the last 5 years.

"Soccer Ace's Tips To Reach The Top"
A FORMER premiership footballer will be opening a school fete next month and giving aspiring young players advice on how to get to the top.
Stuart Slater, formerly of Celtic, West Ham United and Ipswich Town will open the annual Friends of St Ursula's summer fair and car boot sale on Sunday July 7 at St Ursula's Catholic school in Bristol.
He also played for England B and the under 21s and finished his career in the south-west playing for Forest Green Rovers and Western-super-Mare.
Now retired, he is currently a PE teacher, but is also promoting a new website which is full of information for youngsters on how to become a professional footballer.... "

Permanent food poisoning mate. To have that horrible, diving, cheating, petulant little scroat in a Celtic jersey would really turn my stomach. Even BF in the hoops would be less repulsive.
Not a player you can rely on to make a fruitful contribution when the going gets tough. IMHO.

Was listening to Radio Scotland this afternoon, right up to date with transfer news,4pm before they discussed Massimo's move to the Tic.
Billy Dodds reaction "i would urge the Rangers fans not to panic"
Bizarrly we then had david edgars view,i fired off an email to challenge their coverage and bias.
This type of thing should be challenged all the time.
Celtic make a major signing but its looked at from a Rangers point of view.
-
s for Massimo, holding midfielder (if that's what he is/can be) is fine by me. We have SB to make the breaking runs. Cant wait to see our rebuilt midfield in action, so many times last year we appeared not to have one.
-
WG living in England at the time, I remember Slater really was a bright young spark with the Ipswich and the Hammers.
Was he just in a bad team at Celtic or was his input that poor?
-
Don't know a lot about our new Italian signing, but sounds like he is a good one. What impresses me is where we are going shopping - clearly we are in the Prince's Square vicinity while our erstwhile opponents across the city are scrambling about in the Forge Market.
Add in a top drawer striker and we will be looking good for all of the challenges ahead. I haven't looked forward to a new season so much for a long time.
A little trivia question: Stewart Slater scored his first Celtic goal against Aberdeen. Which other player scored his frst for the club in the same game?
-
-
Stuart Slater was a kind of early 90's Kenny Miller.
He had good pace, ball control, ability to go past defenders, eye for a pass, but he just couldn't score.
His nickname at the club was, "Jigsaw" because he fell apert in the box!

Terry O'Neill
Yes i concur.
It seems that he is a sitting midfield player who passes the ball very well.
I have heard this type referred to as a point player. The central conduit that the teams play goes through.
I think that he will be more of a Paul Lambert, without the spectacular goals.
Lambo, a player i wasn't sure about, who was a real diamond

Ed,
On 2 old firm wins you now base next season on?
For the past 2 seasons we've been waiting for you's to turn up and it has not happened.
Last season i thought you had the right man in place but sadly your playing staff were allowed to overule and undermine his vision of taking rangers forward.
Early last season after Hearts gave us a roasting at tynecastle they visited Ibrox 2 weeks later and you ripped them apart which for me was your best display of the season.
I was worried that PLG was taking your team in the right direction but to our eternal gratitude we thank the comic duo of Fergie and Boyd!!
Imho you have now went backwards in recruiting Smith and McCoist.
Reverting to old habits never work.
I think that was your initial reservation when Smith signed and it has now been clouded in 2 old firm wins and a run of successive wins.
There was only one way after a dressing room revolt and departing manager and that was up.
He came in. steadied the ship and went on a run of games which we expected from rangers anyway.
That it was not at the business end of the season seemed to matter not a jot to all down govan way.
When it mattered last season we went on a 24 game unbeaten run during which time we were competing and beating the likes of Man U and Benfica while coming back on the saturday and beating whatever the SPL had to offer.
All without a top striker banging the goals in!!!
Smith reminds me of Terry Venables.
When England are struggling they bring Terry in to sort it out.
Not good enough to be the manager full time but he'll help out for now.
I think you should ask Fergie and Boyd to make a comeback with their double act and attempt another ambush on the safe appointment of Walter Smith.
I think your initial reservation about him was and still is correct.

Has nobody got new on departures from Celtic Park...
PL and GS look like they'll be getting pass marks on the incoming players but financially we need to get some players off the books.
I always thought Miller would be a good signing as no-matter how good or bad he turned out to be the chances are a championship or lower EPL club would pay us around £1m for him (not a bad return on a bosman).
The rumours were doing the rounds about him leaving for more than the million I thought we'd get and also about clubs willing to allow us to recoup the money paid out for Gravesen but nothing seems to have moved on.
Are we going to have a problem moving players on?
-
Still Smiling.
Well there is a lot to smile about.,,right?
European Champions? Why not?
Fast forward to 2010.....
Chic: So Gordon you are SPL Champions five years in a row and just secured a place in the European Champions League Final. How do you feel?
GS: I feel good chic.
Chic: After that dreadful start in Bratislava you really turned things round. How did you do it? How do you explain your remarkable run of success since that awful night?
GS: Teamwork Chic. And commitment. And the help of Neil Lennon.
Edward.
Mr Smith?
Which one?
:0)
Enjoy your weekend.
-
gordon j,
Those were the days. I wonder how the team that night might compare to the first team sheet in August this year?
It must have looked something like:
Marshall/Bonner, Vata, Boyd, Mowbray/O'Neil, Gillespie, Slater, McStay, Collins, Grant/Fulton, Payton, Coyne/Creaney
No disrespect intended, but what a shame McStay's mid-twenties co-incided with the last years of the old board.

Song you'll not hear in Ibrox boardroom
-
Does anyone actually believe that Rangers or more importantly, Murray, is attempting to challenge for the league?
The appointment of Smith and the subsequent signing policy to me reaks of a club who are attempting to 'steady the ship' without the resources or ambition to do more.
Rangers appointed Smith so that they could build a decent team made up of physical players who would cost them little yet still do ok in the SPL. With a bit of help from leniant referees I might add.
He is doing/done that as we speak and Rangers will be a more solid unit next season, playing uglier but ultimately more effective (in the SPL) football, only losing the league by 10 points this time around.
-
sdstim
I see you like the little portugese!!!
Anyway wholeheartedly agree on your other man - Roy Makaay
To me he would be a great signing - won trophies in every country he has played in, huge experience at international level and knows the CL inside out
Even at 31/32 years of age he would be so good for us and I think the young strikers coming through like Cilian Sheridan
Please Mr Lawwell that would be another mighty signing

Agree entirely on the Maestro. I followed his career from the start as he is months older than me and I once played against him in a schools game. Even at 13/ 14 he looked a hell of a player!
The Aberdeen game was 02/12/92, and it did indeed finish 2 - 2. Unfortunately I can't find the teams to see how accurate you were!
-
I see Stephen Maclean has left Sheffield Wednesday and signed for Cardiff thus robbing the poor team from the other side of the Clyde of £50,000, sucha a shame ;)

GG @ 16.48 :- You missed out the big one for Ibrox fans, Tomorrow belongs to me :-) I hate the connotations behind the ong but the sentiment is true :-)
Emjay :- You make a point I find ard to argue with as it brings up many of my own fears when he was appointed. However he did steady things and I do feel that apart from the Tommy Burns factor (good manager attractive football but money settles it) he will give you a closer run and in my own optimistic view have the beating of Mr Strachan and he will give me that champion feeling I've been lacking the ast couple of year. We may get beat but as long as I see a team trying and competing for every ball in every game I can accept it though maybe just accet it.

From the BBC:
"Rangers are to sign Girondins de Bordeaux winger Julien Faubert for £4.3m, according to L'Equipe"
Maybe Murray's last gamble will be to spend and put the debt up even further in a vain attempt to make the club look attractive to buyers?
-
This is a signing that really puts the pressure on Murray.
Will he stick or gamble?
-
Imaginative signing in my opinion.
This lad should be motivated and want to prove to Milan that they were wrong in not retaining him.
TG came with a ready made reputation and so far he has failed to live up to it.
Hopefully this bhoy will create his reputation at CP.
We've had 4 players in so far. On the Richter Scale I'd put our signings as follows:
Killen and McDonald a 1.9 Can just about be felt
Brown a 5.0 Causes lots of LOCAL damage
Donati a 5.5 and can be felt over a much wider area.
No seismic measurements south of the river.

I'll give u a prediction at the end of the transfer window on how close it'll be.
Optimism. The one thing that keeps us supporting our team.
