2-0 celtic
Jvoh and zurawski

O'Leary swings from the bar!
-
Hoping for a decent performance today and some goals! Probably need to start with the team to start vs. Kilmarnock next week.
-
I always expect a win but, in common with my reactions to all pre-season friendlies, the performance will be more important than the result.
To my mind, the only occasion where the performance was unacceptable was in the USA matches. I am attributing that to tired legs leaving them unfit to compete fully and I'm hoping I'm not wrong.
Quick questions about the Murray interview. What is Bazza's weekly wage roughly? And is he Scottish? Is Sebo paid more than him?
-
That's me back again, anything been happening?
Hail Hail

hhbhoy
Not really.
Rangers are still favourites for the SPL title among the Journo bookies division of the Sunday rags, it would seem.

Can't comment on the Minterview.
Got as far as
"SIR DAVID Murray last night revealed that he feels his personal reputation for probity"
and had to stop.
I'll maybe have ceased laughing by the time I get back from the game, so I'll read the rest then...
-
Anyone have a online radio link to the game?
-
HHBhoy
It seems we can forget our 3 in a row. Rangers have won the SPL title on the newly instituted rule about who's got the best pre-season results.
-
still sunning myself here in the good old u s of a, last night I decided to go to mass in an old run down rickity building, similair to some thing you would see in an old style cowboy film, the priest came from the Congo, and had a huge booming voice, during communion the usual band of locals queued up to receive the holy sacrament, but sandwiched in between were 1 boy and 1 girl both wearing the hoops, my heart pounded with pride at the sight of this, it just goes to show that like GOD we are everywhere. if anybody is on ever on holiday in the area please pay a visit, the church is called St Faustina, she was the first saint of the new millenium, the parish is only months old and requires complete rebuilding so please pay a visit and add a few dollars to the buildind fund. Chennaiseabird :- Galston were a team from the town of the same name and were members of the old style 3rd division after this division ceased they along with fellow Ayrshire team Beith played on in the junior league

Aw naw, that's me scunnered, but if we're lucky like the last two seasons we may well still pull it off. If the rangers aren't sh*te anymore they may well be pash, which means we'll win the double again shurely.
Hail Hail

think it's on Setanta and it's definately on CH67 according to the official website.

Something else has just occurred to me. I remember last season when millions of people were sick of Neil Lennon and wanted him out. Well, now that he’s gone and we’ve got Skoosh and Donati and Naka and Sno And Mcgeady running up and down the mid-field, and oor goalie is still the best, right, and we’ve got JVoH out to prove he’s our main striker and Scott and lots of other choices up front to get us back on the goal trail, right, then we only have the defence to worry about. I worried about the defence nearly all last season, and through injuries and what not we managed to do quite well. Sooo… surely with a better team we’ll whip the FoD and eh… win the league. Seems to make sense to maself. Naw?

our defence weren't to bad
I don't know what you were watching second half of the season our central defenders were making far to many mistakes, same as this pre-season really.. WGS needs to build a steady partnership in CD and quick.
Pressley's - only good at wee teams
Bobo - eager to play or does he just like the pay?
JFK - will he be as good(still rusty i think)
Mcmanus - Needs to stop doing stupid stuff.
Caldwell - thinkd he's Pele, needs to relise he's a centre half and not a attacking midfielder.
O'dea - lot to learn.
HH
sure your not worried about the defence.
do we need more strikers/midfielders or would a decent mature centre half be were the rest of his money should go.
-
I like the look of that back 4!
Come on the Hoops!
-
HHBhoy
Agreed- the product was not convincing last year but the results were. They were good over a sustained period of time too.
Part of the concern is that, after 2 seasons of 20 point leads and leagues being won by Xmas, we expect that it must be closer this year. Those expectations for a closer league title are based on the gambler's fallacy, that if the last 2 times we tossed the coin it turned up heads, then it must be odds against that it will be heads again. It isn't; it's still a 50:50 probability.
However league title wins are not governed by the same rules as those tossers of coin. The team with the biggest and best squad with the strongest financial backing, able to replace injured, suspended and off form players with quality subs, usually comes out on top.
I'm not predicting another 20 point win. I'm not even predicting a win yet. All I'm saying is we're in good shape to mount another league campaign. If Rangers get Naesmith and Whittaker, they'll get closer to us in ability to compete. If we don't sign anyone new and don't get rid of our underperformers, they'll get closer.
However, I don't believe either of those ifs will happen, so, until then, here we go - 3 in a row, it is. Off to CP in 20 minutes time. Life is sweet.
-
Would have preferred to see skippy up front with JVOH, believe he is a better option
-
IS IT ON SETANTA?

Shelbourne1916,
No mate, it is only on Ch67.

Markr1888
The second half of the season was a non event because we had won the league in the first half.
I posted a wee while ago that we should spend all available cash on the defence. If we can get a strong working unit out there we’ve won the league. Pre-season is really just that.
SFTB
Enjoy the game

am i seeing correctly?!
is WGS playing Donati on the right wing?
surely he is not going to blow this signing by constantly playing him out of position? someone? please?
-
Looks like Hartley is paying in the middle and Brown on the right.
-
i guess im wrong, as donati pops up in front of the center of the parma box.
just in time to pick up a foul

or maybe he is giving the midfield more liberty to move -- which i am quite happy with. i'd be a lot happier about it with a stronger back four.
BUT i told myself that today i am mr. positive. no runnning any down.
Unless, they really really really deserve it.

this is nonsense not having the game on tic tv. just signed on to this site having been reading it for months and loving some of the entries. why do the FOD get their game on snake mountain tv but we have to pay extra.
mon the hoops.
-
Parma defending well thus far. Quick to harry opponents. Rather tough into tackles for an italian team on holiday.
-
Game has yet to settle. Not much happening for the bhoys up front, though Aiden has shown flashes with some decent runs.
-
Big Mick justmissed a sitter
-
McManus misses the goal off a free header from a long distance free kick from Naylor.
-
can anyone please post the team sheet including the subs
-
mark brown with decent save off a strong shot from right side in the box. naylor a wee bit slow getting into position.
-
Could have been 0 - 1 but for a good save by Brown.
Lubo.
-
Jeez,
Keeper Brown nearly dropped the ball into the net!
-
You would maybe expect that from a keeper who is making his home debut
is there a big crowd?
-
Not that great a crowd from what I can see.
The team and subs were posted earlier.
-
CP is maybe half full from the looks of things
-
Good move from Celtic starting with McGeady ending with a brown shot over the bar.
Brown coming more into the game now. Linking well with Donati.
Lubo.
-
Has naylor played every pre season game so far
He will need a rest before the new season starts surely.
-
Another Brown Run, Mcgeady shoots, saved by the goalie and Zurawski slices wide from about 10 yards.
Getting closer.
Lubo.
-
another massive chance for celtic. starting with brown to mcgeady who shoots hard on target. parried by keeper and magic manages to twist it wide with the goal begging.
-
Brown is a joy to watch. he has tremendous energy and a confidence about him that belies his age.
-
oh danny bhoy
no other option, same as last year when his form
suffered due to being overplayed
-
Casey - true.
Brown is 22 but already looks like a leader, and a real driving force.
The guy looks like he's been playing professionally for 15 years, not 5.
Scary to think how good he can become.
-
Late joining the game today but what I've seen in the last 10 mins has been encouraging. Aiden, Donati and Brown all lookng sharp
-
celtic have the better of play now.
mcgeady with a strong shot which is directed right at the keeper who collects after a fumble.
-
Brown is everywhere on the pitch!
He really is some prospect.
The ref has just booked him for being fouled (or for too good)
Lubo.
-
Donati has been impressive.
-
Brown booked for nothing. Parma getting a bit ruffled here. HT 0-0
-
Only real problem that I see is that the ball still isn't sticking up front. Neither striker looks ready to do any damage.
As others have said, Brown could be a player.
-
Brown and Donati are increasingly looking like the core of a very good team. Now if the back 4's distribution and the front 2's movement was there then we'd be laughing.
-
deffo, donati and brown starting to fulfill expectations of an exciting, dominating midfield we've long needed.
-
Weeron,
I agree that the ball is not sticking. However, our current game doesn't seem to suit these two forwards.
Zurawski wants the ball in front of him and JVoH needs quality crosses from wide areas.
I think this will change when Naka comes back. We miss him.
Lubo.
-
Is there a case of taking Scott Brown off, considering Brines is capable of doing damage?
-
bhoy-molloy
Your a gent great link
-
* for taking Scott Brown off.
-
Donati has been impressive.
-
tough call on bringing brown off or not. it was really as the game progressed that the understanding and drive from the donati/brown pairing came to the fore. celtic were really getting the bit between their teeth in the last ten minutes of the half. i'd like to see them continue that momentum into the second half.
but, that said, i can see this parma team targeting his shins from that nothing dust up toward the end of the half.
-
TtT,
I don't think so. Brines is bad, surely he's not that that mad.
I expect Hartley and Zurawski will get the hook.
Lubo.
-
i know mcdonald is suspended for the first two games but would it not be worth giving killen and riordan a chance? We all know what zurawski can and more importantly can't do.
-
Nice break there by Donati, 40yd pass to Brown who laid it back to JVoH who's shot was blocked
-
lovely quick move featuring Donati, Brown & JVOH. Shot blocked.
-
Massimo turning on the style!
-
Donati looks a player - nice work there down the left.
-
It's Aiden's turn!
-
good cross from Aiden, header by JVOH - OOOh good save. JFK headers over from the corner.
-
Almost in from JVoH. Good croww from Aiden and a looping header palmed over
-
cross ...
-
Aiden McGeady has been very impressive today.
-
OT: iraq have beaten saudi 1-0 to win the asian cup.
-
For anyone interested, Iraq win Asian Nations cup beating Saudi Arabia 1-0

Parma #80 coming on. Must have a larger squad than us :)
-
Interesting game. Some neat stuff. Some disappointing stuff...but you can see our team take shape.
Funny thing is, if Parma were to score, this place would go into meltdown. Sad.
Lubo, fair point. Nice to hear something more than 'he's crap'...
-
magic off for killen
-
Killen on for Zueawski.
-
Sorry, Zurawski...
-
Donati has wasted his last 4 possessions. Maybe getting tired
-
-
-
Wilson off for Caddis
JVoH off for Miller
-
The game has become very scrappy.
Very quiet at Parkhead. So quiet in fac that you could hear Murrays wallet drop.
Caddis on for Wilson.
Miller on for JVoH.
Lubo.
-
FK in front of goal ....
-
Kennedy's the man for the centre back position - he looks composed on the ball - and is so much stronger than before - wee free kick coming up.
-
Free kick in Naka territory...
McGeady hits the bar!!
-
Aiden off the bar - good effort
-
Donati off for Caldwell

Yup and I was one of them. Good to know that he has been a standout the last 2 matches.
We will need him on good form this season.
Hail Hail

Sounds like a great work out for the Bhoys. Glad Aiden got a goal, like I and many others have mentioned on here: it’s McGeady’s season. Scott Brown and Donati seem to be an engine, with Naka to come in to strut his stuff we’ll get the performances we all wanted at the end of last season. Mark Brown looks like safe cover for Artur.
A strong defensive set-up is what I’d now like to see, and Boab’s yer uncle.
Hail Hail
-
yes - mcgeady was outstanding
it will be interesting to see if the cyber hard men
who regularly bludgeon the young player
on here will show up tonight
hail hail
-
Was the score 0-0 or 1-0 because on the celtic page on ssn it says 0-0
-
Oh Danny Bhoy ,
It was one -nil Celtic.
I'll think you'll find it was McGeady's fault.
-
Well, the game was a mixed bag, with more positives than negatives. So what is happening on CQN? Already there is one wee gang forming, looking to pick a fight about Aiden McGeady.....
A life, guys. Get one.
-
Pleased we got the win,and Thursday's heavily criticised defence got a clean sheet.
With SN to come back I could like the look of a midfield 4 of:
Nakamura Brown Donati Mcgeady.
Even more pleased at Iraq's win in the Asian Cup.I hope they will be able to enjoy the victory without the bloodshed.
-
Weeron ,
Re-read CQN again please.
P.s Are you on the sauce?
Midfield was excellent today. Donati and Brown are developing an understanding. Full backs are needed and forwards need shaking up. Clean sheet , A win , more positives today , new players to come , press tipping rangers for league and Newcastle beating Juventus 2-0.
Mixed bag indeed , Weeron. ;-)

Good to see that people from "housing schemes" (copyright TinyTim)and "fat people with mouths full of chips who couldn't point to Ireland on a map"(copyright,Italiabhoy)in accordance with the moral majority, have been discouraged from attending the game against Parma.
Maybe it was too close for poor people being able to go to the game, and they were all skint after going to Newcastle, and they decided to go and have a fight and buy some baggy trousers in the city, instead of disgracing the Celtic football club that some strange people have the strange idea that it belongs to their way of thinking.
Maybe in the next few seasons we should ban shell suits and designer jeans?
Or as Tiny Tim says,we should have games further away than mere plebs can afford to go to.Perhaps only have games in Las Vegas, where upper management can observe?
Tinytim,I have heard that the Celtic supporters convention is taking place in Perth next year.
Why don't you come hear, and drink with the plebs?
Or perhaps only have games in Switzerland where it is 10 quid a beer?
Then only people like Tinytim, who has improved himself since living in a housing scheme, will be able to go.
Maybe we chould have a game in Australia, where the housing scheme people could not make it.
I would like it nothing more.
Then, the likes of that type of ar*e*o*l*,who have private lounges,or a higher level of behaviour(Sean South, you would definitely be one of them) would not be able to make it to pre season practise games, and would not be able to,A,abuse our team, players, fans or plans for the future, would not be able to make it either, and B,would be nowhere near 10,000km from a Celtic game.
You people are a disgrace.
Your views are nothing more than snobbery of the highest order.
I am fed up hearing of your "broad church" nonsense.
The "broad" only encompasses what you would consider the class of people you consider fit to follow Celtic.
Really,I would ask how both of you shake hands.
Because, obviously, only people of the class you both have decided are allowed to follow Celtic, are worthy of following them to pre season friendlies.
Oh and by the way,Aiden has just scored against an Italian team.
Does this mean that because we have beaten an Italian team pre season that we should win the European Cup this season?
Or do we think that this result means absolutely nothing?
Or should we be writing letters to UEFA or FIFA about people from housing schemes,or overweight people who like chips, and trying to get them banned from upsetting people from having a quiet drink in the lounges at the back of the stand?
I really hope the above questions are treated with the disdain that they deserve.
And both of your denigrations of Celtic supporters are given the short shrift that they deserve.
If people who follow Celtic, get pissed and get out of order, they deserve to be lifted by the coppers and charged with whatever law they have broken.
We really do not need the likes of you two pontificating about what other people think of us,and what you think other people should have managed to do with their lives, after being brought up in "housing schemes"
You,really should be ashamed of yourselves.
But,then again, from so high up on your horses, how could you?
Even if the only reason we have beaten an Italian team without losing a goal,is purely down to the pure luck of a complete numpty of a manager.
This will be the same guy who had a defence the other night who couldn't keep a goal out if we played Albion Rovers.
Why aren't both of you on here, delighting in a victoory for Celtic, and wonderful behaviour by our fans?
I have a rough idea why.
-
Playing at home has never been the problem and I expected Celtic to win. Its the away form that needs sorting now.

Enrico,
no sauce here. I think Kano might have a couple, though.....:)
Not a dig at you, Kano, I have no idea what your rant was about, as I have not taken the time to visit the blog since Newcastle's 4th goal went in. I can only imagine the boorach this place would have been.
What's next? Someone will complain about our away form. On the day we win - at home.
-
just back from the game mixed bag as i thought
Brown(playing right wing) and donati looked good, tho in spells again donati misplaced a few as the game went on
McManus for me needs to be more commanding in the air
paul hartley i felt was practically invisible, and zurawski i just don't think has it he has so little heart its untrue his challenges are pathetic
Aiden gave them an absolute roasting at times
There were some nice bits of play throughout more in the first hald
-
Weeron,I have never had a couple in my life!!!
HAve no problem people pointing out problems with our support, but when people start putting it down to their geographical upbringing, and their sociological circumstances, then,I am sorry, but it needs a come back.
In fact it needs a good boot in the hawmaws.
Can't stand that garbage.
Makes me sick.
-
Kano - WOW! What was that about?
Thanks for the updates all.

-
A decent performance today I thought. It was nioe to get the goal near the end, not that the result means too much.
Defensively we were a lot better than in recent games, and looking more like a unit. Both Mick and JFK missed good headed chances from set plays.
The midfield was very effective, apart from Hartley, who was MIA mmost of the game. Donati looks class, although he tired towards the end. Brown was excellent, driving forward and showing some neat touches. Played wide at times though, limiting his effectiveness. Aiden had a good game, a couple of very good crosses, a free kick off the bar and a nice finish for the goal. Add Naka to the mix and I begin to get excited.
Up front not too much stuck, but there was some good link up play. Magic made some great runs but missed one great chance in the first half. JVoH was better than in past games and had one fine header well saved in the second half.
Only a week until it all starts for real. I would expect the same team next Sunday.
-
gordon j
agree with all u say similar to my own post, i would say tho when it never stuck up front it was mostly down to zurawski
i also think donati will be even more effective when brown is beside him rather than out wide with the poor hartley contributing little
gravesen or jarosik should have replaced him
-
Weeron ,
I think you could be right about Kano !
I think Aiden shut up a lot of his detractors today. Good on him.
Miller and JVOH next week up front.
Collie,
Business was discussed today I heard. Was the green light given? That is the question.
-
oregonbhoy,read on earlier.You will see.
It isn't like me to have a go!!!!
But that nonsense makes me want to puke.
Not only are they giving our players, our manager, and our football abuse, but then they start on Celtic supporters, who may not quite come up to certain peoples behavior standards?
I mean, really, who the f*** do these people think they are?
-
Antsman,
Agree that Harley contribted little. He had one free kick in a good position and managed to hit the one man wall.
Brown and Donati looked very good together as you say when Harley started wide. Brown spent most of the game covering as Hartley drifted inside. I'd love to know if this was planned or not.

Just back from the match, having missed nearly 30 minutes by forgetting the kick off time. Half expected WGS to send me home and say, if you can't be bothered to get here on time, you're no getting to stay.
I blame it on my housing scheme upbringing :-)
My new view from Area 439 will cause me vertigo. Mind you the number of stairs I have to climb now should offset the effect of any chips in my fat face.
Nice to win a pre-season game and Scott Brown is gonna look a bargain soon at £4+, even if he is Scottish.
Still, in keeping with what I said before, the real stuff hasn't started yet.
