could it be
-
dons 1 Celtic 3
-
oh yes! can I make it a double and get Donati as first scorer?
-
After the League Champions Elect romp yesterday, I think we need to put in a performance of note!
-
Top Ten for the new fella, not too shabby.
Thanks for the pie McGrain, and of course your good nature and understanding - sorry dude! :)
-
Welcome Malcolm, I didn't realise you were on you début this weekend.

Looking forward todays match, it's great seeing Gordan shaping team 3 with each passing game. I'm glad Arthur is back. I can't wait for this window to close soz we can see what our strongest 11's going to be.
I would like a win and a performance please.

would have played wilson left back and Doumbe right back and rested Naylor.
Naylor look exhausted already.

Paul 67
Simply thought you were trying to make me feel at home in Brittany. Bit disconcerting at first when presented with Ce blog n'autorise pas les commentaires anonymes.
Glad to see Gary Caldwell back as he and Mick were very solid until his injury.
-
WGS just saying on Setanta that Kennedy went over on his ankle yesterday, leaving him the choice of Caldwell or Pressley to partner McManus.
-
Today's Bench is:
M Brown (Gk)
Miller
Hartley

What about Bobo?
-
Hopefully Kennedy will not be out for long, but then there is every chance that he is taking the opportunity to give him a wee rest after the artificial turf and using an injury as an excuse to do so.
If that was the case, GS certainly wouldn't drop a second member of the back four, so no rest for Naylor. I don't think Naylor needs a rest anyways, I just think the referees have to clamp down on every opposition striker clattering him with a late challenge in the first ten minutes of every game. He must be carrying a lot of bruises and niggling injuries going into matches.
Is he just seen as an easy target by the scottish footballing world and opposition managers are telling strikers to get stuck into him?
In any case, its Aberdeen today, Hearts next week, Spartak after that, then St. Mirren away, so until that sequence is over and we get ICT at home, I don't think there will be any resting of players.
-
Did anyone else see AB warming up on Setanta there? A nice wee bit of agility!
-
interesting that the average age of the celtic side against spartak was only 24.
anyone know the average age of the rankers side that played red star??
papers are enthusing about the unbeaten rankers because......... thats what sells papers
-
On my last visit to Aberdeen yonks ago, I got on the bus and asked the driver how much I had to pay to get to where I was going.
„Whirty” came the reply.
I told him again where I wanted to go.
„Whirty” came the same reply.
This time I was really annoyed what with me being at the front of the queue and everyone waiting to get on, I said for the third time where I was going, and thinking he was taking the pash I told him quite loudly.
„Whirty pee” he shouted back..
Strange language they got up there.
Hail Hail
-
bhoy_molloy, dunno about Bobo, I'm just repeating what Strachan said in his interview. And I see O'Dea is on the bench, too, so dunno why he wasn't put forward as an option.
Стахановец, the thing about that ICT game at home is, the following midweek is the next European tie (CL on Tuesday/Wednesday, UEFA (hopefully not) on Thursday), so he might not want to change the Team before that, either, depending on the draw.
-
mornin all,
Teams coming out

Kickoff Aberdeen.
'mon the Hoops!

Than you sir for the kind welcome. Certainly a posting debut, I found site with about 6 weeks to go of the last season. Its been a God-send on match days.
-
matt_the_bhoy:
Fair point, these games are coming thick and fast! But then, these aren't 16 year old kids or 38 year old veterans, they are all between 20 and 30, they should be at the peak of their fitness, if they cannot play one or two games a week, they really should be kept out of the team until they can.
I do not buy into 'needing a rest', especially after ten games of the season. Unless you are injured, there are no excuses.
-
PS, 3-1 the Champions today please!
-
Celtic started slowly, Aberdeen having a lot of posession in the opening couple of minutes.
-
Aberdeen shout for penalty- not given
-
Jamie Smith freekick tipped over the bar by Boruc.
-
FK tipped over by Boruc. Never a FK btw
-
Bhoys all over the place so far. Need to settle down
-
JVoH puts one just past the post after some more great build up play by plɐuopɔɯ ʇʇoɔs
Darn Saarf, Man City have taken the lead in the Mancunia derby. Taxi for Swalex.
-
Great chance for JVoH - just pulled it wide
-
Poor cross from Naylor after our first spell of passing
-
New haircut for Donati today?
Brewster down injured just now, wrist injury by the looks of it.
Celtic not too bad just now, JVOH will think he should have got his chance of target, but at least the big man looks more interested today.
-
McGeady wins a throw-in near the goal-line, ball breaks back to Naylor who tries an audacious lob, but doesn't trouble the keeper, harmlessly over.
-
Aye, Donato seems to have gone for a Nr 1 or 2 Haircut today. Obviously hadn't heard about the average temperature in Aberdeen before he got it. Certainly a strange place to début it... ;-)
The Fans are in good voice, btw.
-
matt:
Was it not against Aberdeen that Henrik debuted his short hair? Could be a good omen. ;)
-
Caldwell looking a bit rusty. Donati now starting to settle
-
Great play by Naka with three players aruond him, wins a free-kick. After some passing moves the ball comes to Brown about 25 yards out, but his shot hits JVOH. Good build-up work though.
-
Henrik, short hair. not totally sure when he debuted it, if I recall, it was at CP between the two legs of the HJK Helsinki tie in MON's first Season (he scored his last dreadlocked goals against them in the first leg).
-
Billy Cnnolly in the stand:)
-
24 mins. Goal for Aberdeen.
-
goal Brewster. McGeady dispossed 30 yards out, and the sieve ran about like headless chickens.
-
0-1
-
1-0.
Ball cut across the six-yard line, three or four players miss it, Brewster taps in from two yards. Very disappointing goal, they did not have to work too hard for that one.
-
plɐuopɔɯ ʇʇoɔs has a chance to equalise, putting a diving header past the far post from a Nakamura cross.
-
McDonald gets a chance right away, great play frees Nakamura down the right, he cuts in and floats it to the back-post, McDonald fluffs the header and it trickles wide.
-
Disgraceful refereeing. A clear foul on McGeady leads to an Aberdeen goal. An Absolute disgrace
-
If you want to score against Celtic then simply go down the right and cross to the back post. Happen in Moscow and happened here today again.
-
Aiden was clearly fouled and did not lose possession. Should have been a foul to us. AB have been on top though and deserved their lead
Scott McD misses a sitter after being set up by Naka
-
tap in for Brewster.
However - the Aberdeen player in front of Brewster was offside and even though he didn't touch the ball he was right in the middle of play !!
-
McDonald tries a speculative effort from the corner of the box on the right after a short pass from JVOH, but it drifts fairly harmlessly high and wide.
-
The goal has given us a shake - we're now starting to play
-
More good play down the right by Naka, Brown tries to put JVOH through, but offside.
He should have played it to McDonald though.
Aberdeen run up the park, Mackie skins a couple of defenders, Artur saves it from 8 yards.
-
not good so far - if caldwell was half the player he thinks he is we would have a worldbeater on our hands.
donnati sleepwalking through the game
aiden not woken up yet
-
Great save by Boruc after a good AB move
-
Celtic go down the park again, Hart and McGeady stay down after a 50-50, but Naylor hits the cross against the first defender.
Aberdeen fans boo, even though team are told to carry on until the referees whistle!
-
naylor still in his pyjamas too....
-
Good passing from Brown to McDonald, Brown carries on his run, but McDonald hits a grass-cutter weakly wide of the left-hand post.
-
Considine tries to usher the ball out, McDonald steals it, then hits the deck. Hard to say if it was a penalty, but Considine definitely kept his leg raised as long as possible while he was falling.
-
Is SmcD still in Moscow. I dont recognise the player from Wednesday night.
-
A couple of corners in succession from Celtic, comes to nothing.
-
Celtic have two corners in a row, but make nothing of them.
-
Good break by Celtic, JVOH thinks hes got all the time in the world and is tackled.
-
Celtic applying pressure, plenty of men in the box, comes to Donati 30 yards out, looks like hes gagging for a shot, defence comes out, he goes wide and shoots anyway, high, wide and not so handsome.
-
Good build up - Shot from Donati went wide
-
Further pressure, McDonald looks like his boot might go high, Considine hits the deck, McDonald had already pulled out of the challenge by that point. Referee gives a free-kick anyways, just as Naka was ready to unleash a volley.
-
Ridiculous FK given against SMcD in box
-
C'mon you Reds! ;o)
Long way to go lads, but I'll take 1-0 just now.
WMBT
-
Shot by Mackie from outside the box, Boruc palms it and it bounces towards the line, Boruc grabs it away just before it crosses. Aberdeen fans behind the goal scream for a oal, Artur gives them a wee 'wave' and flashes a smile. Celtic fans burst out with 'Theres only one Artur Boruc'!
-
Halftime at Pittodrie:
Aberdeen 1 Celtic 0
Brewster (24)
Celtic haven't had much of the game so far, Aberdeen probably deserve their lead as far as possession goes, although for the most part, they haven't had much end product with it, either. The goal came after Mceady was dispossessed thirty yards out, the ball was played down the right channel, and Brewster arrived at the backpost for a simple tap-in as the ball was squared to him, with the central defence as usual posted missing.
-
McDonald makes the absolute most of pressure on him from behind, hits the deck easily. FK to Celtic in a good position near the touchline. Surely a shot is out of the question...he goes for goal...hgh and wide!
HT whistle goes.
-
Half time:
Aberdeen 1-0 Celtic
Got as much as we deserve out of the first half.
Brewster was left unmarked at the goal; Mark Wilson not close enough to him.
-
Losing possession much too cheaply all over the park.
Passing and touch are out for most of the team, and we really need a bit of muscle.
Was it just me or did anyone else think that Darren Mackie was a mile offside at the goal. He was right in the middle of the goalmouth clearly interfering with play.
-
Refereeing an absolute disgarace as many of us were expecting this year. Aberdeen being given fouls every time there's any kind of a challenge and charlie Richmond happy to let play go when celtic players clearly fouled.
Mcgeady not dispossessed for goal. It was almost a rugby tackle. owever. Aiden is having a nightmare as is Naylor.
-
McGeady, McDonald and JVOH need to give themselves a shake. They are being totally domianted by the Aberdeen defense.
A very lightweight performance thus far.
-
-
Postives - singing sounds good and without the usual add-ons
Negatives - the football. JVOH seems incapable of holding up a ball (6 ft 4?????) and Aiden seems to forget people are allowed to tackles him - giving the ball away when he gets it, anonymous the rest of the time.
I would have Killen and Hartley on.....
-
Aberdeen have done very little in this game, but they took their chance when it came, and almost sneaked a second when Mackie went past two defendres, weak shot from 8 yards though.
Celtic have huffed and puffed a bit, the midfield apart from Naka look a little lost, and McDonald couldnae finish a kangaroo supper at this rate. Caldwell has won a lot of balls in the air, but his delusions of being able to play long-balls onto a 50 pence piece 80 yards away have been pretty frequent.
Wilson has not used his pace to get to the byline, and Naylor has not been able to beat the first defender on crosses. Has he never considered crossing the ball with the outside of his boot? Everyone knows exactly how he is going to cross it.
Looks like a half-time rolicking is required, and I reckon if it is the same after 15 minutes, Hartley will be on.
-
Thelassiebeattie 14.27
Just noticed your post re the call for offside at the goal.
-
The left side of the park is a massive weakness. Naylor is simply not at the races. McGeady is playing in front of him - "Aidenhino" anyone ?!? The midfield as a whole are guilty of the slacking off when the opposition are on the ball - just as Latapy had acres of space last week, so Nicolson and co are running 20 yards before they sniff a hooped jersey. This isn't Moscow, Barcelona, Milan. Its Aberdeen who are leading with a striker who makes me look youthful. Honestly, they need to cheer me up a whole lot in the 2nd half.
-
A not unusual post Europe performance against a team playing a cup final.
There is still a lot in this game for us and I expect a different Celtic in the second half.
Some players need to be good team mates, as Gordon might say.
Mc.Lean on Setanta is anticipating the full time league table.
-
Aberdeen very comitted, but technically average. Our midfield uncreative today. Would have Hartley on start of second half.
-
Michael, maybe we have to agree to disagree, but McGeady wasn't fouled in the buildup. he had a bit of a heavy first touch under pressure, and overran it. Fair enough, the guy then dived in, but he did connect with the ball.
-
HT Dons 1-0 Celtic
Glad to hear the HT whistle. We have not been at the races today yet. AB dominated through putting a lot of pressure on us and some heavy handed tackling. We need to get better at handling this kind of approach. There have been flashes where we have looked good going forward and we have had two clear cut chances to score. There have been no passages of sustained pressure though.
Their goal was a refereeing and defensive nightmare. Firstly Aiden was clearly fouled - how the ref cannot see that when he is ten yards away is a disgrace. When the ball was pulled across the goal Caldwell somehow managed to step over the ball and allow Brewster an easy tap in at the back post. Wilson could have been tighter but was caught betwen covering the goal with Boruc exposed and covering his man.
Hopefully we will see a better 2nd half performance. Brown has struggled in the first half in most games so far then come onto a game. More today please. Donati guilty of getting caught in posession. JVoH and Naka both doing well. Aiden not in it.
Shame JFK had to drop out. Caldwell has struggled through the game.
We need to step it up from the off in the 2nd half.
-
Matt,
He took the ball after taking Mc.Geady's legs, but neither the ball or his legs should have been there at the time.
-

___________
He has avoided the mineshafters for too long, but lets all be honest here, just what exactly is JVOH providing us with. Big man with no strength, no pace and no craft.
-
Matt
I've watched it a couple of times now and you're right about his first touch which has been poor all day but he was clearly wrestled to the ground by the Aberdeen player.
-
We need to be a new left-back. Naylor has been woeful in EVERY game so far this season.
I'll ask the same question I ask at every game. Why is JVOH guaranteed a starting place? He is just not doing it and if he is not fit, he shouldn't be in the team. Yet every day it's a question of who will partner JVOH up front? I just don't understand it.
Anyway. Celtic will win 3-1.
-
Second half kicks off now
'Mon the Hoops!
-
Minute or two into the second half, some good passing on the edge of the box, Diamond twists his knee, Aberdeen predictably return the ball to us yb booting it to Boruc. I would have simply went into the drop-ball looking to win it rather than let them give it back to us.
-
Awful challenge from behind by Diamond on McDonald, no booking though.
-
Free-kick about 25 yards out to Aberdeen, Brewster hits it, Boruc parries for a corner, referee orders a re-take. Brewster leaves it for Severin this time, floats it in, easily cleared.
-
that 25 yard freekick was never a foul, btw.
-
Poor communication with McDonald and JVOH, Aberdeen get the ball, plays a simple ball through to Mackie who cracks one in from about 18 yards, just wide.
JVOH looks like he was refused a half-time pint with his orange and has went in a huff.
-
More of the same from 1st half so far. Time for a change
-
McDonald floats in a cross, just over the head of JVOH.
McDonald looks like he told Naylor to f*** off there after something was said on the way back up the park!
-
On Radio Scotland the Celts aren`t getting a touch and Joe Miller just said that `Charlie Richmond is having a good game`. Not a happy listen.
-
Aberdeen get a good chance to put in a decent cross, but its too long, and Mackie's overhead kick trickles well wide.
-
Chris Clark takes a knock for Aberdeen. Brewster has done so twice, Diamond one, and yet we have not made the most of our 11 vs 10 advantages.
-
This ref is a joke. Wilson disposses McNamara, McN falls to the ground and the ref gives a FK.
AB players feigning injury all over the place which is stopping us getting any momentum going.
-
Nakamura free-kick 25 yards out, dead centre of the goal, could be our best chance for an equaliser. He runs up, hits it well...off the bar!!!
-
58' Naka freekick crashes back off the underside of the Bar
-
Pressure still on, comes to McGeady on the right, he telegraphs to everyone he wants a shot, eventually closed down, Aberdeen start to break, Donati looks happy to use a straight kick and take a yellow card.
ANOTHER Aberdeen player down, Severin now.
-
Naka off underside of bar - keeper well beaten
-
Free-kick into the box, JVOH goes down in a heap rather than head the ball.
-
Hartley ready to come on soon.
-
61'DONATI
-
61 mins.
Goal for Massimo after a good pass from Aiden.
-
yyyaass!
Donati free in the box, he gets the ball, sidesteps the lunging defender, and curls it beyond the keeper into the far-post!
1-1!
Any bets that Donati is coming off now for Hartley!?
-
1-1 Great goal from Doanti
-
Not before time Bhoys now finish them off.
-
First shot on target all game. Nakamura then dances past a defender on the edge of the box, right-footed effort, just high and wide of the far top corner.
If we get another one in the next few minutes, this could be the same as the Falkirk game.
McGeady then takes another shot from 25 yards, over the bar.
-
That's more like it from celtic as McGeady chips one just over the bar.
-
Chance for Naka - just over.
Celtic doing all the pressing now
-
McGeady greedy on the edge of the box and loses it, Aberdeen break but it comes to nothing.
Celtic back up the park, Nakamura past another defender, again hits it just wide!
Hartley substitution looks to have been delayed, I would say McGeady is the new favourite to come off.
Lee Miller on for Brewster.
-
Fulltime at Eastlands, City 1 Utd 0.
2 points from 3 games...
Taxi for Swalex.
-
Стахановец,
thanks for the commentary - great stuff.
HH
-
Brewster wastes an extra minute being substituted. AB holding on for a draw now
-
Aberdeen on the attack, but well broken up by Donati.
McGeady on the right now, Naka in the centre, no real left-winger, Naka looking a lot more effective now that he has free license.
Aberdeen look knackered, they are there for the taking.
-
Wilson picks up a booking, dangerous free-kick for Aberdeen here.
Nicholson over it, crosses it in, Miller gets a head on it, but it loops up and a comfortable save from Boruc.
-
Wilson booked for a late challenge, the resultant freekick is easily claimed by Boruc.
-
Whatever happened to the rumours that Celtic were after Klaas Jan Huntelaar of Ajax?
I see they (Ajax) have just opened their new Dutch League season with an 8-1 win away to De Graafschap, with Huntelaar notching up just the four goals, including two in the last minute.
So that's him priced out of our range then!
-
Cynical foul from Aberdeen on McDonald, tug of the shirt as he is breaking free, no yellow card!
JVOH gets a yard of space in the box, turns the defender (first time for everything), goes over the trailing leg, no penalty. No complaints from JVOH.
-
Another soft free-kick given against McDonald on the halfway line.
72 minutes gone, we look to have faded just a little.
In saying that, Naylor puts in a great ball, little flick by JVOH, Aiden almost gets a toe on it.
Aberdeen player down in that exchange, gets back up when play isn't stopped!
-
Aiden goes past Severin, cynical foul, no yellow card!
-
bigchips, Huntelaar played for Ajax in their defeat by Slavia Prague on Wednesday, so he's CL Cup tied this Season, which might knock some cash off his valuation.
Although, I'd rather have a Central Defender with presence.
-
