Money. The Chairman. Totally agree. But, I also think that Gordon Strachan's strength of character and coaching ability has caught them out.

Hi folks, just back from holiday.
Anything interesting happen over the last 2 weeks? Any decent transfer speculation?

Good morning all
A quick question for anyone with Barcelona knowledge.
I want to get two tickets for the Barca v Sevilla game next month.
Does anyone know the best (cheapest) way to go about this?
Thanks in advance

nothing much with all concentration on the Moscow game. The consensus seems to be that not much will happen unless we qualify for the CL or offload the big money freeloaders.
Did you try the fiddler ??

inside write - I've only done it the once. It was for one of their CHAMPIONS League games. Went to the ticket office at the Stadium in the afternoon of the game and could pick what seats/price I wanted. There are also guys outside selling tickets but I went for the offical route just to be sure.

"Czech stopper keen on Celtic move
Saturday, August 25, 2007
Czech goalkeeper Michal Danek is hoping to join Celtic before next Friday's transfer deadline.
The 24-year-old Viktoria Plzen shot-stopper told Czech newspaper Sport he would visit the Scottish champions in the coming days.
"Next week I am going to visit the club," said Danek. "If this (transfer) was possible, I would certainly not refuse it.
"It is a great club, I am going to fly there to see how it looks."
Danek has also been linked with Norwich and AEK Athens. "But the interest of Celtic is the greatest," he said.
Viktoria Plzen chairman Ladislav Valasek stressed that Celtic have not made a bid for the goalkeeper who has conceded just one goal in the first three matches of the Czech season.
"Danek is in excellent form, he is a mature 'keeper and the Czech goalkeeping school has a good name in United Kingdom," said Valasek. "But we have not received any official offer yet, though we have heard about their interest."
Poland international Artur Boruc is currently the first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic, with Mark Brown his understudy.

"Donati can emulate Larsson: StrachanPublished: Saturday, 25 August, 2007, 07:05 AM Doha Time
GLASGOW: Celtic manager Gordon Strachan believes Italian midfielder Massimo Donati can follow in the footsteps of Henrik Larsson and become a Parkhead legend.
The midfielder, signed from AC Milan in the summer, scored his first goal for the Hoops in last week's 3-1 win at Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League.
And with Donati improving with every game he plays alongside fellow new signing Scott Brown in the middle of the park, Strachan feels there are glorious days ahead for the Italian.
Indeed the Celtic boss can see comparisons with the way Swedish ace Larsson made a slow start to his career in Glasgow before going on to become one of the best players in the club's history.
Speaking ahead of his side's SPL match at home to Hearts today, the Celtic manager said of Donati's start: "You can't judge a player after a couple of games.
"Henrik Larsson didn't do too brilliantly in his first few appearances and if he had been judged after them he'd never have stayed for so long.
"But he went on to become one of the best ever players seen at Celtic.
"So you can't make an instant judgement and you have to wait until the end his contract before you will know whether a player was worth it."
This weekend Celtic will welcome a Hearts side who have had a disappointing start to the SPL season." GOOD !!!!

Paul67,
Where have you been the last 5 years ?
Let start a competition and see how many quotes we can find where a member of the board has used the term "Old Firm" explicitly.
During TV negotiations, Shirt sponsorship deals - Starlings fyling together in unison. No the board cannot have their cake and eat it as you suppose. When we were making noises about moving into the EPL our board practically done Rangers touting for them.
Our Board rely on the Old Firm as a business safety net. It´s a tried and tested model and they are happy having it hanging around as it has served them well over the years.
The last thing that our board would want to see is the demise of the "Old Firm" as it would affect their investment and remove the buisness saftey net.
IMHO to say anything else to the contrary is just lazy journalism or an excercise in semantics
Anyways 3.0 today I reckon...
-
Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo, couldn't disagree with you more. I truly believe the days of our board needing and wanting to be seen as one half of the OF are long gone. The huns know this and I think it is they and their lick-spittles in the 4th estate who perpetrate this nonsense.
They need us far more than we now need them IMO.

pablo,
"now" as in today ?
time will tell. Rangers qualify for the CL and we dont and somebody buys Rangers and it all changes.
No more joint sponsorship deals then. You can rest assure me on that ?

Hallooo,

Very quiet at Rugby Park today and lots of spaces in the stands.

Inside Write, I presume you've got your cheap flights sorted? As far as tickets are concerned, you can pick them up in most of the larger Tourist Information offices at face value. If you buy through booking agencies or touts you will be paying a premium for their "services".
For example, I attended the Celtic CL game there and bought my tickets through an internet agent, paying £60 a ticket. When I visited the Tourist Info (not even knowing that they sold tickets) I found that I could have bought tickets for the same part of the ground £20 cheaper, each!
You'll probably also save a fortune on your hotel if you sort it yourself when you get there. It helps to learn at least a little bit of the language so you can at least greet people in their own language and give them the gist of what you want. They will both appreciate your efforts and be somewhat more helpful...
I often search to get the names, details and locations of suitable hotels on the internet (e.g. Expedia), then find the hotel's own website and contact them myself, often quoting the 3rd party price and asking them if they can improve on it.
Good luck.
-
Awe_Naw, I hear what you're saying and who knows what will happen when someone buys the bigot dome. My only hope is we will still have good people running our club to the same standard that it is being run right now. I would be more than happy to have our own sponsors and I welcome the day when we do. The less we have to do with that shower (ed excepted) the better. It's all about opinions mate and only time will tell who was / is right.

Inside Write, look here. Tickets start from around £35, but this is of course a top category game.
If you went for a lower category game (with more chance of seeing FCB in full silky flow, cracking in a hatfull of goals), such as FCB v Almeria, you can get in from as little as £12.

Inside Write, re: Spanish v Catalan, just upset them! After all, some effort is better than none, and we don't spend all our time correcting them to Glaswegian from English when they come over here!

Celtic could be set to seal an astonishing loan move for Eidur Gudjohnsen IF the current players can dispose of Spartak Moscow in next week's crucial Champions League qualifier.
Sources close to Barcelona say this deal is one of the options currently on the table and as things stand, it would appear to be Gudjohnsen's favoured option.
The 28-year-old Icelandic striker has previously stated his desire is to play for a club who can offer him Champions League football. Manchester City and Juventus are the latest clubs to be linked with £8million bids for the player. West Ham reportedly also tried to sign him a few weeks ago but were knocked back.
However, none of the clubs who have so far expressed an interest in signing him on a permanent basis are Champions League contenders. He does have a good relationship with Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri from their time at Chelsea, but whether that would be enough to persuade him remains to be seen.
Celtic certainly need a Champions League class striker, and Gudjohnsen wants to play for a Champions League class club...
Could this be a perfect match made in Paradise?
-
Killie have 56% possession.
I'm sure Celtic had 60% against Falkirk.
All we got for the rest of the week was how Falkirk dominated the Celtic midfield for 60 minutes. Will we get how Killie has annihilated the Orcs midfield for the majority of this match?

Killie couldn't handle the strenghth and guile of Darcheville when he came on for the second half. Ball played into his feet with his back to goal.
He either turned with it or laid it off to keep them on the front foot.
A Naismith inspired breakaway gave Killie the goal of the game.
They are big and strong, but not much of a football team. Keep the ball off them and they will have to foul to get it back.
Possession is the name of the game against them.

"youths break hearts at barrowfield
Gregor Kyle
A scintillating first half performance from the Under-19s saw them break Hearts in their first home game of the season at Barrowfield.
The visitors were simply demolished by John McLaughlan’s men in the opening 45 minutes, with striker Kevin Cawley grabbing a brace and Michael Graham rifling home a stunning volley to go three ahead just minutes before half time.
Although the youths failed to add to their tally after the re-start they continued to dominate proceedings and maintained their clean sheet with a mature and commanding performance"

HT Celtic 2-0 Hearts
Excellent first half display. Hearts look a poor side this season - they are giving us lots of space all over the park. Our midfield are really starting to gel together. We have 4 very skillful players in there. One concern is that they may be a bit lightweight against some opposition but WGS looks like he is favouring skill over strength.
The defence have not had much to do. Boruc made one excellent save near the end of the half. Naylor and Caldwell play too many long balls out of defence. Wilson has been linking well with Naka and getting forward aften.
Donati still a bit careless with some passes but he is improving with every game. Brown started quiet but came onto a blinder. Aiden had had lot's of the ball and has made some great runs but almost all resulted in lost possession. Naka is really working hard this season and this game is no different.
Up front, JVoH getting better service this week and is proving to be a handful for their defence. Scott McDonald looks good - he should have been on the score sheet but his all round game probably makes him the MOM so far.
Off for some breakfast ...
