there is absolutely no chance of being first!
627: TEAM NEWS Spartak Moscow v Celtic
Half an hour until the action starts in the Russian capital and stick here for all the action. Striker Scott McDonald makes his Celtic debut, having been suspended for the first two domestic games of the season - with Kenny Miller dropping out - and Paul Hartley is preferred in midfield to Aiden McGeady. Mark Brown steps in in goal. Still awaiting Spartak stuff.
Celtic: M Brown, Wilson, Naylor, Kennedy, McManus, Nakamura, S Brown, Donati, Hartley, Vennegoor of Hesselink, McDonald.
-
Come on the Bhoys!
-
Although, does Kenny Miller really have a hamstring injury, or is he being dropped due to interest from Barcelona and Arsenal? ;)
-
Come on the Hoops.
If Our Lady can swing it for 0-3, SDSTim is coming back into the fold.
-
2-0 Celtic!
-

Game kicks off, in the first minute Spartak break on the right and put in a deep cross, but noone there.
-
shocking bobble on the pitch
-
Spartak through the middle in the second minute, but Kennedy manages to get back and put it out for a shy.
-
jaysus, setanta..what is goin on!!!
-
Welcome Declan.
Kick-Off & my rear end is shaking because i have to listen to the game on the radio.
This working carry on is keek!
Hail Hail
-
Steelica
been a while since that happened then
-
Setanta lose the feed already, ffs!
-
where can you listen to the game?
-
where can you listen to the game?
-
stick some 50p's in the meter Setanta.
They seemed to cut back to the studio pretty quick - hope its not a permananet loss of picture
-
No feed, and we listen to McGhee making jokes about knives and guns. Fantastic.
-
Clyde 1 have it on.
Hail Hail
-
Jebus, utter shambles Setanta!
How they could think we had a composed start with our midfield being waltzed through twice early on and hardly having a touch is beyond me however.
Let's hope we've settled down by the time the pictures return.
-
Yas, picture back!
-
Steelica,
I think that it was taken over but the name never changed.
But I've been there for a game before, and came out alive.
-
1-0 Spartak. Shocking stuff.
-
torn apart by Moscow.
but its off-side. bejeesus
-
What a let-off, goal chalked off for offside, Spartak player should never have wandered that extra yard, all the time in the world.
-
Well what have I been saying about setting the tempo and being solid, lucky to be saved by the offside.
SORT IT OUT CELTIC.
We have so much potential, let's start to realise it.
-
Toomebridge_Bhoy
Match is on Clyde 1 102.5FM & Radio Scotland 810MW
Hail Hail
-
They look a good team :( Celtic struggling early doors
-
it was a good offise decision for the (non) goal. But only just.
-
cheers Possilbhoy, think I'll have it on in case shi tanta lose the feed again
come on lads!
-
Good long-throw by Celtic, but keeper gathers.
-
Long throw from Hartley, but bounces through to the their keeper.
Donati loses posession in Mid, leading to Spartak break. Broken up by Wilson.
-
the pitch is ridiculous!
-
The problem with both Donati and Brown wanting to push on is that we are leaving gaps for Spartak's attacking midfield on the counter attack, this has to be organised - and quick.
-
Toomebridge_Bhoy
Think of all us poor sods that have to flick between the 2 radio stations for info.
Peter Martin gets too excited & that in turn makes me sh*te myself at the image in my head i have of what he is describing. The guy on the BBC with Murdo McLeod beside him is slightly less animated.
Hail hail
-
Naylor lets ball go for a corner to Spartak. COuln't control it on the plastic pitch.
Well defended. Mcmanus clears
-
Bangkokbhoy
my hair isnt red sorry, hope that isnt a bad omen.
thanks for the welcome people
-
Celtic caught ball watching in the box. Looked like they were waiting for an offside.
-
pitch is a scandal - we may need to resort to long balls to avoid giving the ball away in midfield
-
Celts need to keep things tight, no fancy dan stuff at the back. Players finding it difficult to keep footing.
-
YAAAAAS
-
What a goal!
-
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS
Paul Hartl;ey!!!!
-
yessssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
Get in Hartley
1-0 Celtic
-
McDonald procides the deep cross. Hartley arrives late in box with a powerful header
-
WHAT A GOAL!!!!!!!
-
Come on Bhoys keep it tight till halfer!!
-
Against the run of play it has to be said. Lets hope the Spartak heads go down now
-
RIGHT, WHO WANTS TO KNOCK PAUL HARTLEY NOW?
YASSSSSSSSSS!
What a goal...
-
We have the initiative now Celtic.
Silence the crowd, stifle the opposition midfield, keep things simple.
-
Noo that was a goal
-
Paul Hartley - what a time for your first goal for the tic.
Is that the result of honest footie non of your fancy dan stuff
-
why is paul hartley playing??
ooh... wait a minute!
HH
STC
-
bloody hell, hartley eventually does something!! well wee man!!!!
-
Exactly what we bought Hartley for!
-
If we keep pressure on them here, no time on the ball..every player needs two touches on the pitch
what a Goal!!
How great would it feel, being a celtic fan scoring in a game of this magnitude
-
My wife came running through. Thought I had had a horrendous accident with the scream I let out.
Doing fine just keep it going.
-
jvoh is slower than a week in the jail.... why are we playing him??
hoping to be proved wrong again!!
:-)
HH
STC
-
didn't know the game was on so early. Ya beauty
HH
-
What a great ball in that was from Scott McDonald.
-
why is miller not on the bench??
can someone describe the goal please..at work with no telly
-
I guess that's the advantage of having dyed-in-the-wool Celts in the team.
It was sheer desire that got Hartley in in front of the defender...
-
My dogs thought their aul da was having a fernando ricksen...going crazy. come on bhoys drive me bonkers!
-
Milletr is injured. Simple ball into space down the right. Good cross and a powerful header from Hartley running in. Not on screen when ball delivered so a great late run.
-
McDonald looks like he can break through onto those long balls from the back every time.
Spartak are a very competent team though, let's not get over-confident too quickly.
-
goal descriptioin courtesy of the BBC
1722: GOAL Spartak Moscow 0-1 Celtic
Scott McDonald clips in a ball from the right and Paul Hartley arrives late to meet the cross with a thunderbolt of a header.

cheers andycolo

My updates are coming thanks to CQN! It makes my blood boil having to sit here working and this is the only site I can hit, thanks to a ridiculous security policy...
-
So far so good.
Goal up, soaking up the pressure, & The Twa Scotties looking dangerous on the break...
-
Pin
Ball played by wilson over the lfet backs head about 30yds from goal on the right wing. Mcdonald ran onto and Spartak defense seemed to stop thinking it was offside. He had plenty of time to pick his man out. Big Jan went to the front post with two spartak men. hartley made a lung bursting sprint from halfway line to get on the end of the cross. just as he is heading it someone challenged him... but he was too late.. and bottom right hadn corner(keepers left) was bulging! as hartly ran off to celebrate with big Evander on the sideline
-
HHBhoy, woof woof!
-
never mind donati being a bloater.... paul hartley looks like jim morrison in his latter years, minus the stink leather troosers!
HH
STC
love me 2 times baby
-
MacDonald looks very strong.
-
The linesman saw that dive, look at the replay, he waved the winger up and called for play to continue!
-
Dive on edge of box. FK to Spartak.
-
Wall clears it
-
Wall clears it
-
Equaliser. Header from good cross and good play on right
-
1-1.
Think Brown should have saved that to be honest.
-
-
Looks like the days of hedonism continue for SDSTim, but I bet you were sweating for a wee while there bhoy.
-
what a tackle from s. mcmanus
for all the abuse he has taken, he has had a very good first half
-
1-1
Keeper, got a hand to it,maybe should have stopped it,
But Spartak probably deserve 1-1
Good challenge by McManus
-
who is supposed to be marking him?
-
mozart starting to conduct things in the centre
-
1-1 HT
-
all I really want is even stephens(!) at the end of the game
-
We lost our composure in the last five minutes, but that aside, it has been a great performance - so far.
-
HT 1-1
-
HT 1-1
Got to be happy with that.
Agree, brown might have done better with the header.
-
Well, we've lost the same goal again. But a good mature performance in the first half.
-
1.1 half time. Fair score methinks at this stage. Need to regroup. Some good work in patches. Wee Ghord earn your corn.
-
got to be quite happy with that
-
Any life streaming on the 'net?
Good start
-
dobbo.... ask the doctor.. the footy doctor!
-
Yes please -
if there's any good net feeds please send on my blog.
Cheers.
-
Good performance so far, shame we lost our composure in the last five minutes.
Boruc would have saved that header but Brown should never have been so exposed.
McGeady to replace Hartley at 65 minutes, will do some damage!
I think we can score in the second half.
Come on The Hoops!
RobinBhoy
-
We need to think about how we can protect our left side.I felt that Lee Naylor was a concern even before the yellow card. Their right winger is a real threat - actually he did us a favour when he dived because he was already past Lee & on his way into the box.
-
Any chance the second goal was offside?
Any replays being shown?
-
Sir Titus - who (or what!)is that!
-
Well if that's the best artificial surface they have, keep it scrapped. It's only good enough for rangers to play on.
I think Celtic have adjusted quite well to it and the decision to drop McGeady is one I now agree with, having seen what it does to anyone running with the ball. Naka and Donati can make things happen on it.
This was one of the strongest refs I've seen till he bought that late dive that got Naylor booked.
For their goal, I would have expected more help for Scott Brown in dealing with 2 attackers. I won't blame the goalie.
-
What a time to score for your bhoyhood heroes!
Sno for Donati midway through second half and probably agree about PH. Don't know how he can keep going for full 90 in that heat.
The Bhoys looked more comfortable than I expected after a jumpy start. Very close decision on their offside and that looked like a penalty by Big Mick! :-)
TTTT
-
Great goal from Paul H - disappointed to concede such a straightforward goal at that time.
Scott McD is going to spring that offside another couple of times.
Thye will try to get at Lee - already on a yellow.
Excellent effort so far on a dreadful surface.
-
Chennai, jist heard your email on C67
-
Naylor is very slow and flat-footed on the left of defence and is a big problem. JVOH just isn't fit and I still can't understand why he seems to be an automatic choice. I'd replace him for the 2nd half.
That said, I'm delighted with the overall performance so far. I'd take 1-1 but we can score again. All we need is a free-kick within 30 yards and it's 2-1.
C'mon the Hoops.
-
McManus & McDonald have been excellent.
Midfield after bad start began to grow into the game. Naka all over the field.
Great goal for us. Poor one to lose - free cross, free header and Brown unable to get enough spring off the plastis pitch to push the ball clear.
-
Without wanting to criticise Mark Brown, or trade in what-ifs, I think Artur would have saved that...
-
-
The performance has been better than expected, those defensive lapses i.e. C H,S losing their main goal threat in the 6yd box is something that will bite us in the cheeks till sorted. Scott Brown had 2 at the back post.
C,mon the Hoops
jonnybhoy
-
anyone receiving a picture from Setanta ?
-
someone needs to pick up this pavlyuchenko fella, again on that break, he was on his own with naylor at back post
-
First time in a long time Lee has pinged a cross
Paul H great tracking back
-
I had my doubts about Scott McD in Europe, but he is playing well here.
-
hoopla
agree on SMcD looking alot stronger on the ball than i would of previously given him credit for
-
come on naka san
-
Dont camp round 18 yard box. Recipie for disaster. Push up!
-
Spartak miss a headed sitter from 5 yards out.
-
FFS
Pavlychenko again on mark wilson at back post this time. missed a sitter
-
How is Donati doing? Still to be convinced by him so far.
-
Defend better and further up
PLEASE
jonnybhoy
-
Somebody put the boot in WELLITON
SOON!!!!
jonnybhoy
-
Can't escpae the feeling that a goal is coming for them. We are being overrun in midfield.
Strange thing is - we look like we could still get a goal on the break
-
Big Frosty coming on.
-
Donati going off.
-
come on Celtic
just keep it together for a wee bit longer.
sounds like the lads are tiring. due to the surface?
and the ref losing it a wee bit?
-
How long left??
-
Some of the Hoops looking quite tired - the surface has done us few favours.
Keep it together lads...
-
Bangkokbhoy -
Great minds & all that...
-
Caldwell to get on.
Skippy to come off.
-
