That's not fair! If I hadn't got a damn error message I'd have had my second first.
:o(
-
eat my goal!!!!
-
At least riorda & Sno are in
-
Now the discussion starts re. the Millar story!
-
Big chips
Cry me a river. That'll be my first (and last) first.
;)
-
Am I correct that Maoloney also had a few critical comments to make about how Lawell handled the situ? Millar certainly hasn't held back.
-
Traynor sticking up for Lawell.
-
Aww geez a break are we away to turn on the best chief exec we've ever had now! have a think ,the NOTW bloddy rag ! Cmon the Hoops
-
Murdo saying financially a very good move but from a squad point of view celtic are now weaker. Traynor agreed and said he would not have let him go.
-
CL I've told you before... it's Miller, not Millar! ;o) But as he's gone now you can call him what you want.
Now, as for "Maoloney"...!
-
Alan Preston said Millar should have gone ....he's not a goalscorer.
-
...and "Riorda" (is he our new Italian Bhoy?)
-
Miller's going to play every week for Derby, as after yesterday they need something
He wasn't going to get that with us.
A decision to suit club and player.
We didn't get Maloney which is a shame but he shouldn't have gone in the first place. More to do with agents I would think than either Lawell or Strachan.
-
CL, talking of (Alan) Preston. Perhaps Miller should have gone to Preston instead of Derby... he'd have had as much chance of playing in the EPL next season!
-

You sound exactly like my old teacher and he ended up skaking his head.Re. the typo's I can honestly say that I'm still wrecked from Wed. You should have seen me try to play golf yesterday!
At least I won't have to type Millur again.
-
Subs today:
21 Brown (Gk)
7 Zurawski
18 Donati
25 Nakamura
33 Killen
46 McGeady
48 O'Dea
-
I'm rather surprised that Naylor isn't getting a wee rest today. And I see Doumbe isn't even on the bench. Can anyone tell me why we signed him (Doumbe)???
-
PL is celtic class - KM was not. A couple of early season goals and a nonsense newspaper story doesn't change this - lets move on - c'mon the hoops!
-
just wondered which bench people would prefer
ours or this

CL, don't worry I'm only teasing about Millor. As for your teacher who ended up "skaking" his head... that sounds really painful!
-
Should anyone be daft enough to feel sorry for Kenny Miller should get themself a hold of Gary Imlach's book,
My Father and Other Working Class Football Heroes.
This books shows how our heroes of yesteryear were treated by their clubs.
Peter Lawwell Rules.
What's that I hear? Ah! the March of the Mineshafters.
-
CL, you never had to type "Millur" before. :-p
-
Come on Bhoys, don't all start on CL, that's my job!
Sorry CL, I didn't mean to start a tirade of abuse...
-
The comments from Strachan about balancing the books, then Miller's comments suggest the board were behind this sale to swell the coffers. If this is the case, and we can't be sure it is, the board would've gone down in my estimation. Strachan has done a great job but it appears now that despite the financial advantage over Rangers we keep gloating about, he is doing this with one hand tied behind his back.
If the manager doesn't want to sell, he shouldn't be forced to unless absolutley vital for the survival of our club.
I'd love to know the truth behind this one....
-
Fascinating midfield. I am pleased Sno is getting a start.
-
This will be an interesting game, which should give us some insight in to the quality of our squad.
For me there will also be a couple of interesting sub-plots.
One of my colleagues is a season ticket holder at Easter Road and also played football to a reasonable level. He is of the view that when wee Skoosh is played on the right he tends tends to drift inside looking for the ball, such is his desire to influence things.
This may put Wilson under pressure.
After greeting to the Daily Record, wee Deek can certainly talk the talk, but can he walk the walk?
It will be interesting to see how he plays today. IMO he has a tendency to drift in and out of games, which may place Naylor under pressure.
Should be an interesting game.
MON THE HOOPS!!
-
Miller was sold to balance the books, nothing more and nothing less. This is the third transfer window in a row where Celtic have spent almost nothing net. It is now clear that this is the way the current Celtic board wants to conduct transfer business.
Lets not be kidded. there were no targets or potential signings. the focus of Peter Lawells efforts since the Donatti signing have been on selling players. His absence from the CL draw was interpreted by some as a sign he was trying to sign x,y or z players when the reality is that he was trying to tie up deals for Jarosik,Miller and anyone else he could shift to reduce our transfer net spend.
The team needs strengthened. No manager in history has sat on a transfer budget without spending it. it doesnt make sense. there was no money available and that is simply not acceptable.
-
Pastyface,
I think that the Celtic subs bench looks better balanced and has less chance of failure due to bending.
Come on the Celts!!!
-
Must admit Paul, I agree with your comment about Sno. At times Celtic have lacked someone to shore up the midfield with Brown and Donati both getting forward. We've got away with it so far but with Lennon going, it could be time to see more of the Dutchman, particularly in away games in Europe.
I'd personally drop one of the front two in Lisbon and Milan and let Sno sit behind the current midfield two.
-
ianinjesi
less of a burger habit I would think
-
Mon the hoops!
I AM LAWWELL!
..I am also Strachan
I am confused....
-
We're wearing the new dark green away top today.
Celtic Kickoff now.
'Mon the Hoops!!!
-
and when I say kickoff, I don't mean Boruc and Naylor... ;-)
-
David Begg has started his commentary by lifting his voice when St Mirren attack and concentrating on Naylor as a possible weakness.
As usual I am nervous!
-
Strachan reporting for duty.
I am Strachan
'GG who is so last week.
-
the midfield's takinga a while to get up to speed, it's a pretty turgid affair so far, after 5 minutes.
-
Nice play by Wilson after a slack pass from Sno
-
Sno looks a wee bit slow. Nothing from Deek or the front guys yet.
-
Brown the only midfield survivor from midweek.
Shows his desire to compete.
I wonder if he will last the 90 minutes
'GG
-
Wilson again doing well - he has started well
-
Sno slack ball leaves Naylor exposed
cross cleared.
-
Sno slack ball leaves Naylor exposed
cross cleared.
-
St Mirren are sitting very deep when Celtic have the ball, typically Sno gets the ball on the halfway line, and the nearest Saints' player is outside the centre circle. We seem to be persisting with the punt forward from the middle, which isn't causing any problems at the moment. When Saints have the ball, they are moving forward ok, so the question is how long can they keep the forechecking tempo up?
Saints had a midweek game, too, after all...
-
early stages show why Hartley and Sno are not regular starters...
Naylor down injured. Thank goodness our manager has signed plenty of cover in this area.
-
With all the changes in the line-up, we are struggling to get things going.
-
Naylor looks to have gone over on his right ankle. :-s
-
Geebee1978, Evander had a really encouraging first season, it’s important he is allowed to build on that.
The midfield has a make-shift look about it.
-
Good morning to the Twin Cities from a gorgeous sunny eastern seaboard.
I see your pitcher had a great night during the week.
Strachan picking something up off park.
'GG
-
'GG, Strachan picking up something that fell out of the Physio's pocket as he went on to treat Naylor (who's back up now); fourth official Dougie McDonald castigated him for leaving the Technical area, so WGS put the stuff back on the Pitch where he'd picked it up from, and went back to remonstrate with McDonald.
Do these people have no common sense?
-
The last time I was at Love Street Albert Kidd was scoring for Dundee against Hearts
-
we were wearing green that day too, mncelt. :-)
-
Howsit GG - What's a pitcher? :)
-
MNCelt. Twice wasn't it?
What a day that was!
-
22' GOAL
SCOTT BROWN
-
We can have a chat about 8 innings of a perfect game and a shut out until this game livens up.
THey must all think it's a 3 PM kick off.
'GG
-
more great build up play for the goal by Skippy McDonald.
-
Goal, Scott Brown, 21 minutes.
St Mirren 0-1 Celtic
Good setup play by McDonald.
-
Goal Brown. Nicely set up by Scott McD and tucked a nice shot under the keeper from 6 yds
-
Looks like my feed is 2 minutes behind.
I'll stop commenting and just read.
'GG
-
Murdo says that the only midfielder playing at pace is Brown. A better start than other away games. 2-0!
-
24 mins.
Goal for Scott McDonald.
St Mirren 0-2 Celtic
Great strikers goal, one you have to see on TV later.
-
25' GOAL
SKIPPY
Chipped in from an acute angle.
-
Nice work straight thru the middle for the goal: Sno Skippy Skoosh!
Another one as I speak - SKIPPY 25min.
-
Clyde online are still wittering about "1-0 will be enough", a minute after the second is scored!
-
goal goal goal
who is Miller :¬)
just about to state that Brown is the only player on the pitch
2nd goal wee Scott
-
Ahem
Hasn't he done that before somewhere?
-
Another goal - long ball from Caldwell which McDondald lofted into the net from a tight angle. Bit of a 'mare for the keeper.
GG - I think the game has livened up:)
-
I learned a new blogger trick during the last game. If your post fails due to a blogger error, right click in the post comments window and select 'refresh'. Your text will be recoverd and posted to the blog.
-
David Begg sounds quite depressed...good.
-
No no GG do go on, I’m just sitting here with no radio link, and no visuals.
Tell me anything you want, the other bloggers can give the scores.
Soy Strachan
Hail hail
-
MCelt, is that 3-0 now, as Clyde have just announced the second (after they actually decided to comment on the game that hteuy are supposed to be commentating upon!)
-
Without playing well we are coasting.
Wait till we put out our first team.
'GG who anticipates a shut out and and an avalanche of goals.
-
MNCelt, if you'd told me that before I could have had the first post!
-
So, will St-Mirren-MAD's prediction of St Mirren 0 Celtic 5 be right?
-
Bigchip - still 2-0
-
Still 2-0 and that`s allowed me to glance at Juventus on Ch5 but Juve are looking poor on a sticky pitch. Is this BBC Paisley I`m listening to?
-
Mncelt
F5 does the job saving you a keystroke.
Miranda dancing around with the ball. Has he been read his rights. Jaikit in the cupboard but I can get it out.
Artur releases Wilson for a quick breakaway but we hold back.
30 minutes gone. Game over?
-
EDB, shhhht.
Mncelt, thanks for the tip, I’ll try it out.
-
bigchipsuk, Clyde don't actually have the rights to commentate SPL games. :-( They just sit in the studio with the crowd in the background and chew the fat for 90 minutes.
-
Last season it looked like the SPL was getting stronger. So far this season the opposing teams have been poor. Looks as if US and them will be way out of sight by Xmas
-
hartley livens up preceedings and it's a free kick for St Mirren.
Well held Artur.
-
godd ball into the box by Saints, Corcoran comes off the right wing looking for a diving header, but mistimes it and chests it back to Boruc.
-
Good cross from St Mirren gives chance at far post. Missed.
-
Naylor caught out at the back post. The forward should have scored but was caught between heading the ball and chesting it.
-
The fans should be getting their money back for this showing.
Low tempo. No passion. Not a great deal of skill.
You'd think Riordan would be screaming to impress.
He'll probably score now.
'GG
-
Big Jan not getting much joy today - time to give Killen a run out, see if he can give us a bit more punch up front ?
-
Caldwell has grasped his opportunity with JFK's injury. He's having another great game today
-
DubaiBhoy :- From last thread.
DubaiBhoy :- I can't comment much on yesterdays game as I didn't see it, going by reports in papers and a 10 min phone conversation with my son I'll concede Rangers didn't play well yesterday. Last year Celtic lifted the title with a team that often played poorly but had the character to grind out a result often by a single goal, if Rangers can play poorly this year and keep winning games by three or more goals I'll be delighted.
Barcelona games are Home 23rd Oct Away &th Nov I'm looking forward to the first but imagine the second will be squeaky bum time ;-)
-
Half time:
St Mirren 0-2 Celtic
Midfield looks new, but still have enough.
Each passing game provides more evidence of the difference between this season and last season;. We are scoring goals and putting distance between us and the opposition.
-
Long range shot deflected past for a corner to ST. Mirren.
Come to nought. A bit like the 1st half really.
'GG
-
halftime at St. Mirren Park
St. Mirren 0 Celtic 2
Brown (21)
McDonald (25)
Celtic deserve to be in front, although there hasn't been much goal action. Saints are gettinga lot of people behind the ball, and Celtic are making hard work of breaking them down.
-
GG
The game immediately following a CL night is one to be won in any fashion and that's what is required today.
True though that the fringe players should be out to impress.
-
My two minute delay is still apparent.
Need to sign on again.
'GG tea time.
-
HT 2-0 us.
3 minute spell with 2 goals separate the teams. We look ok in the middle but a wee bit sluggish up front.
Hartley and Naylor getting pelters...
-
HT St Mirren 0-2 Celtic
Satisfactory performance - good if you consider the changes we have made in the line-up. Defensively we have been solid, especially Caldwell and Wilson. Naylor still looking a bit out of sorts but this is a good game for him to gain confidence. Brown is the busiest player in the midfield. Sno has been slowing the game down too much. Hartley working hard as is Riordan without being too effective.
Up front, JVoH has done very little. McD has been busy and scored a good strikers goal.
Can't see much changing in the second half. We could score 7 if we step it up a gear.
-
After the discussion on squad strength, how many 1st choices did rankers rest yesterday?
-
Are the TV cameras on the opposite side that they were on Albert Kidd day?
or is it just that I remember the terracing back then?
-
2-0 with no effort put in....a terrible game..
Paul -cant believe you rate sno--- he is unbelievably slow... not in the riquelme way either...
we should bring on our wow striker now....
-
Low key game. Good opportunist goals to ease any tension. Good performances from Wilson, McDonald and Hartley so far.
2 Quick observations:-
WGS smiled in his pre match interview- has he recovered from his clinical depression so quickly?
This team is not being physically dominated. If anything, we are fouling a bit more than them.
-
A very odd game of football.
Great scoreline though!
-
Fairly low key
Brown again is easily the best player on the pitch.
Sorry to see Caldwell and McManus continue to play long angled speculative balls
Derek Riordan has played some fantastic balls in to the box, but he lacks the trickery to go past players. Would still like to see him more central up front
Yet again JVOH is anonymous.
Playing with half a team today, but cruising none the less.
We need to wrap Scott Brown in cotton wool. He is so competitive, that he will be at risk of injuring himself. His darts into space are a real pleasure to watch. Worth the subscription just to see him.he gets better with every game. And increasingly disciplined.
-
Believe Donati is coming on for Sno. Come on the Bhoys!
-
Halftime Sub
Donati for Sno
-
Donati on at HT
-
Gary Caldwell, Skoosh and Skippy making the difference.
Deek looked better on the bench than playing.
Evander Sno - the new Neil Lennon.

Free weekend of Setanta.

4-0 Riordan pass defected into the net. Good break from defence

Well done, Big jan - scores a Sutton type!
Riordan gets one as I speak 4-0 !
-
Riordan deflected ball
4-0
Riordan was trying to lay it on.
Avalanche.
-
I see Setanta have attributed the goal to Miranda OG.
What the hell do we care?
'GG
-
Nice skill from Donati in the middle there. We're starting to play the ball around now
-
Celtic looking much more fluid in the middle of the Park since Mo, Mo, Massimo came on.
-
GG, aye, Setanta credited it as an og, but it's come up on Sky's teleprinter as a Riordan goal.
Killen getting ready to come on.
-
Killen stripped to come on
-
Killen coming on for whom?
-
Sky now changed the credit to an og.
Get the dubious goals panel onto the case.
-
63' Sub
Killen for JVoH
-
So that's just over 4½ games and we've scored 16 goals. That's a quarter of last season's total already after just over a tenth of the season! Who said we needed a goalscorer?
-
Dangerous ball from Saints.
Striker messed up.
JVOH OFF Killen ON.
-
Somewhere, at the back of mind, lurks the notion - "So what ?"
We knew before this game we could beat St Mirren. The only variable is how bad they would be.
Scottish football eh ?
-
Would be nice to notch 6 or 7 today- certainly plenty of time left.
-
Saints putting pressure on us but long shot is wayward.
Goal kick to Artur.

Zurawski getting stripped

Magic coming on

Godd shot Killen across face of goal.
