chennaiseabird said a few days ago that he will need to get a new Blogger name since he is now back nesting on the sea cliffs of Scotland.

I think we should have a wee competition to pick a new name for him.

Can I start the bidding with "Old Kilpatrick Owl"? Anything will do, as long as it isn't "Larkhall Lark".

One other element to the Thompson tale - he got himself sent off against Vigo, therefore he also missed the game in Amsterdam for us the following season.

Never liked Gregory and that just put the seal on it.

19/03/08 for our reschduled game - just one day short of the 20th anniversary of our centenary season win there when McStay nearly uprooted the goal at the Broomloan end, Walker scored the winner with his left nipple and they scored thanks to the legendary Jan Bartram, the originator of the "Beast" remark about Graeme Souness, shortly before he was punted out the door. Aahh happy memories.

    Paul67,

Do you expect Bobo to go straight into the team at the expense of Caldwell? Also why do you think he is now being considered now i.e. recent showing in training, bulk up defense etc.

DJ was saying last night that Rangers have slightly strengthened their squad....you have to laugh but guess he is probably still on Rangers payroll. Walter seems to stick to a core list of favorites and ignores the likes of Faye and Broadfoot as well as £2.3m signing Buffell and other fringe players. I think they have a major problem if they have any significant injuries and suspensions. Cannot make up mind on Cousin - believe he should not be allowed to sign for Fulham but still think he is their best striker.

Oh no! Don't tell me it's coming around to that time already.

My swing has been stolen and the officials say there is little chance of it ever being seen again.

My putting has become infected by some dreaded disease called the "yips", for which there is no known cure.

Beng in a bunker requires an abacus

The good news is that, although my eyesight is deteriorating with age, the distance I hit the ball now means that even I can follow it.

What chance have I in reclaiming the 'Unofficial World Title" from Blantyrekev?

Still, it has always been a very good day out with wonderful craic and great Celtic stories. Looking fwd to it.

I think TFOD will have to make a further payment to Buffels former club if he plays another 2 games for them, I seen £400,000 mentioned somewhere.

It's the same situation that made sure Ball never kicked leather for them again and he was eventually shipped out before they had to make further payment to Everton

The ACN came at the wrong time for him, but he will not drop back down the pecking order. How things will work out between Caldwell, McManus and Balde I’m not sure, but they will be the top three choices.

At Chritmas I was shopping for a set of darts for a present, and came home with a set of golf clubs and bag.
The reason I done this was,I went to the golf day last year, but felt I was missing out on the cameraderie on the course.

I had the pleasure of Martin and Pauls company in the Bar, which I enjoyed, while the golfers slogged round the course.

But it went through the mind to buy a set of clubs,so as not to miss out on the next outing,Well the clubs are bought,so look out for a ringer on the course.

Paul I remember talking to you that day,and you mentioned that you'd like to have a go,so now's your chance.

I can recommend that day to you all, weather permitting, a beautiful place to visit, bring binoculars if you like looking out onto the river,or even a wee bit of birdspotting.

Foods also something I can recommend,if you go you'll enjoy yourself.

I think Balde will need to bide his time a little longer as both Caldwell and Mick don't deserve to be dropped at the moment. It would be particularly unfair on Caldwell if he was to be dropped since he was playing well before he was moved out of position and has performed well since returning to his best role.

What's the news on Kennedy? He must be back fairly soon?

Amidst the euphoria following Saturday's demolition of Kilmarnock, was anyone just a tad concerned that one of the reasons we looked so good was because Kilmarnock where in fact defensively so bad? Considering Jan's goal and the 5th goal in particular, you have to ask where was the Kilmarnock defence. Yes both goals were superbly taken, but can't see any other side - Aberdeen for example - being so generous.

Regardless of how the opposition played the 5 goals will have done wonders for our confidence, hopefully we can benefit from that and put together a long run of victories, starting at Pittodrie this Sunday.

The other point is that Evander Sno when he came on looked a better player that Scott Brown. I'm not saying that he is a better player simply an observation based on their respective contribution's to Saturday's game.

Is no one amongst the lap top loyal making ANY enquiry?

Are they full up with all the winalot?

For example, if WE had poached our manager back from Scotland more than TWELVE MONTHS ago, and yet still hadn't paid the agreed compensation in full to the SFA (as it is reported, and not just in Kilkenny, is the position with the great unnameables), we'd be getting our a**es sued off, forbye getting pelters in the meeja.

    Oldtim and Taggysbhoy,

I enjoyed that afternoon also. I love being among like minded Celtic supporters, there is no greater feeling of belonging.

About the golf, however, I don't think I could play 2 holes never mind 18.

The last time I played golf was at an invitation event at Wishaw Golf Club. way way back in the late eighties.

I remember being so tired after it that I fell asleep during the dinner.

The time before that was a business outing paid for by all our insurance agents.

I borrowed a set of clubs, was picked up by the bus, got to the course to find it waterlogged and closed.

We were given breakfast then lunch by which time the rain had stopped so the course was open for play.

During the round the heavens opened again and I was soaked, really drenched, I was the only player without waterproofs.

I played 12 holes, saw the club house and made a bee line for it,
phoned a taxi and was home before the first foursome had finished their round.

I will be there all day on Friday 4th July, but I will give the physical bit a miss.

    Cheers,

    FORE,

    Martin

I listened to those clowns on snyde last night and to a man they said that motherwell were unlucky and that undersoil heating would not help against heavy rainfall, a real no sh*t sherlock moment from BFDJ. With the sringent rules on who can get into the SPhell and the conditions to be met surely decent drainage and undersiol heating must be made a basic requirement, whats the point of an all seating stadium if its empty because the pitch is unplayable?

  • At 05/02/08 14:09, Blogger Mort said…

I can appreciate the fact that heavy rainfall will have a big impact on the pitch but as they are supposed to be a professional club surely they should have adequate drainage and if they know there is going to a period of prolonged rainfall why can't they get the pitch covered with covers that you see at Wimbledon.

mort, I thought I said that, I dont believe covers are the right way to go, better drainage and undersoil heating should be a minimum condition for access to the SPHell, the killi pitch suffered the same weather but looked a great surface. IMO covers are a waste of money if the drainage is not right unless the game is played under cover, which is silly innit

I have been catching up on posts and firstly would like belatedly to add my hearfelt sympathy to Oldtim and Dick Byrne for their loss. I know Oldtim will not take offence, since he expressed the sentiment wonderfully himself, but, with a 17 year old son myself, Dick's terrible loss especially sends a chill through me each time I think of it.

Itzaollova @ 13.48. I share your concern somewhat (uncharted territory for me in these mines). I thought that on many occasions in the first half we were still not winning 50/50 or second balls in midfield nor do I think there was great strength in the tackles. Attacking we were very good (but to your point about the Killie defending). If we give the same sort of performance at Pittodrie at the weekend, I will be a lot more convinced that we are a lot more convincing.

    Taggysbhoy/Paul67 Re Charity Golf Day...

Is the money raised on the Day/at the event...?

A online Auction would be good/interesting as i'm sure people would give generously... prizes/bids...

With all the Overseas Posters on the site some people will need to hit their Long Irons... good...

    Paul67....

Changing the subject slightly, most Celts had a laugh at Rangers expense over the JJB deal but to date, how much has this actually hurt them? What did we make from merchandising rights last year and what is the JJB deal worth to them?

Are they feeling the pinch yet and do you expect a big difference in turnover at the end of the financial year?

I think I'd find it just as difficult as hitting the ball.

I may retire from golf before I start, bad news regarding no buggies.
No sense in paying green fees for a couple of holes.
Anyone looking for a new set of left handed clubs +bag.

I have one spare ticket for the game on Sunday!

Obviously face value, and with it comes the added option of the spare seat in the car, probably leaving Glasgow at about 10 - 10.30 am.

I can meet anyone in Glasgow at most times (apart from Thursday) between now and Saturday.

If anyone wants it but plans to collect it in Aberdeen, then (only because I have been let down in the past) they must collect it by 13.00 as that will give me time to unload it if they can't get there for any reason.

Post your interest on here, and then e-mail me via my sign-on.

I'll check CQN and my mail every half hour or so.

If it hasn't gone by 19.00 tonight I'll shift it via one of my locals or CSC's in the area.

    Hail Hail

I am in awe of those who are going to the Golf Day. I have always wanted to play (left-handed too, Old Tim!!) but the only time ever played was at Lethamhill about 1970, with a mate. I was way beyond dire.

    Paul67/taggsybhoy,
when do applications have to be in? I might be able to make the day but I can't say now. Anyway I wouldn't want to spoil anybody's day by actually playing.

  • At 05/02/08 15:49, Blogger Celtic_First said…

I'm about the same as Parkheadcumsalford. If around, I'd like to go but will not embarrass my fellow CQNers by attempting to play.

If possible, though, I would happily volunteer to caddy for anyone. If I was to caddy for Cadizzy, I think we'd have to get Ulysees McGhee to write a song about it, perhaps even a whole musical.

    The caddy for Cadizzy
put poor P8ddy in a tizzy
by standing too close to the pin …

You know the sort of thing.

My presence will probably depend on others signing up. They know who they are.

Dont you know that a complete novice playing on an outing is a godsend for all the duffers as you take the spotlight instead of them and as an added bonus the bashing and thrashing around of said novice makes the duffers look like competent golfers!

I'm sure you'd be made very, very welcome.

Good to see the advert for the golf day come around so soon, a day for mineshafters and happy clappers, golfers and non golfers to put their differences aside and get drunk on Celtic!

I've sent my application form and hope to meet regional qualifying and represent G83 with the Godfather. Might need to look at alternative transport this year as it will be my turn to drive :-(

Anyway, if nothing else, we might get to see non-golfer Tinytim and the greatest golf t-shirt on planet Celtic!

Jinkyredstar, what is a niblet? [Insert Frankie Howerd type joke here]

    Paul67.

Is it ok to get the begging bowl out.

As most of you know, Zbyszek and three friends are coming over for the game with Barca.

He had booked up to see the Rangers game, but due to the game being postponed twice,he tranferred his flight to take in the Barca game.

But for some reason the Barca games all-ticket,and poor Zbyszek can't get tickets,we've managed to scrape up two,but we need another two, would you rake your pockets to see if theres any hidden away.

I do'nt normally do scrounging, but I think this time, its for a good cause

If, by any chance you get a couple,or even one, come your way, think of our friend Zbyszek.

DBBIA, for some unfathomable reason, I am intrigued to see something which is even uglier than a niblet (whatever a niblet is). Before I open a link, will my firm's internet police pounce on me for entering a social networking site?

Aha Cadizzy - you spotted the deliberate mistake! Niblet is apparantly (first hit on google) a well loved pussy (you asked for a Frankie Howard and you got a Mrs Slowcom)

The Niblic which I was referring to is of the Mashie type from the plus four days of gowf, which is the last time I hit anything straight.
