Martin42 and Paul67 I hope your Mum and Grandmother
is on the road to a full recovery.
My own mother, who is approaching her 80's
lives 500 yrds from Paradise on the London Rd.
She likes to make a big pot of soup for the family
arriving on Sunday, but is now unable to get to and
from Parkhead cross, as they have removed the bus stop
from outside her door, because it lookes unsightly
outside the new Belvidere development.
Anyhow early every Saturday morning I jump over from
the South side with her Veg. I drive up Springfield Rd
and get the goosebumps whenever the Stadium comes into sight.
I love seeing it early in the morning when there is no one about
the screens all lit up. It's like coming home.
This morning as it appeared in all it's splendour (subjective I Know)
the anticipation of todays game was palpable.
Not because we haven't played there for what seems like eons,
but because today is the start of the week, when we should find out
how improved a side we trully are..
Our abysmal performance against Falkirk, has been followed by
the 5-1 demolitions of both Kilmarnock, and Aberdeen,
with Celtic back to sparkling form. The opposition, however
has not been that great,
(despite Aberdeen's heroic performonce the other night).
Hearts should, however, give us a sterner test, and provide us
with the ideal game, going into Wednesday night.
Paul67 states that today is more crucial than Barca, i agree
only in as much as if you are Celtic your
Next game is the most important.
Gordon will have his players well prepared and ready to go
I'm sure they will not let us down.
We the Fans have a job to do today and on Wednesday
lets make sure that we are also up for it.
Hail Hail.
ps Zbyszek absolutely delighted that you are ticketed up for
the game on Wed. Have a great time, I'm sure you'll be looked after

What a day for going to Paradise!
The sun is in the sky, we've got Barca in the Big Cup on Wednesday, and we're going to cuff the jambos to pile the pressure on McCurry's mob tomorrow.
Let's make it happen Bhoys.
Time to get moving...
Hail! Hail!

Lucky me!!??
How´d ya see that then?
Oh well at least one person has noticed me(hint hint).
I´m in Amsterdam for the Barca game. Havn´t been around that way since our UEFA Cup run. Pubs anyone, anyone?
Hail Hail

Industrial EBM Bhoy
Durty Nellys on Woemestraat on the edge of the red light district, 5 mins walk from the station.
Walk directly up the main street from Central Stn, looking left....when you see the Grasshopper cross over and walk up that short street past the Grasshopper at the end turn right. Nellys is on left hand side, maybe 100 mtres up but anyway on that street there are plenty sports bars/coffeeshops who sho such games.
Me an my mate will be there for the game also.....
Good luck and enjoy.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They're the finest team in Scotland, I'm sure you will agree,
We'll never give up till we've won the cup and the scottish football league
They come from bonnie Scotland, they come from county Cork,
They come from dear old Donegal and even from New York,
From every street in Glasgow they proudly make their way,
To a place called dear old paradise and this is what they say.
Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They're the finest team in Scotland, I'm sure you will agree,
We'll never give up till we've won the cup and the scottish football league.
There's Fallon, Young and Gemmel who proudly wear the green,
There's Clark, McNeill and Kennedy the best there;s ever been,
Jim Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, John Divers and John Hughes,
And sixty thousand Celtic fans who proudly shout the news.
Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They're the finest team in Scotland, I'm sure you will agree,
We'll never give up till we've won the cup and the scottish football league.

Curly, you want to get that dyslexia fidex.
-
Anybody see Scott Brown & McGeady on Soccer am, apparently big Jan is a bit of a dancer.
-
Hope you lot realise how lucky you are to be able to get to every game. Glasgowdave - your description gave me goosebumps. Hope your mum's soup is nice. My mum - same age same tradition of soup for all the family Sunday mornings. I have to tell all about the Celtic game even though I told her on Sat night when she was down at ours for dinner.
Anyway I have to make do with Radio Scotland - (not bad) and CQN (Hurrah!). Timing is everything - get some work done Sat morning and convince the wife to visit relatives in the PM. Text updates to No 2 son who has accountancy classes on Sat and text continually to No 1 son who is teaching in Manchester and keeping up to date with the good guys in O Shea's. So can't make many of the SPL games - only the first of the season so far (Kilmarnock)but have been able to get to all the CL games so far and will be at the Barca game on Wed. Jock Stein stand - I'l be the one wearing the pink carnation!!!
Keep the updates coming.
Phew!!!
-
Thanks fhengshooied.
I used to watch the games on the other side of that main street. O´Reillys I think, was a large bar with quite a few tvs.
Think I was in Durty Nellys the last time the Ajax weekend had Man U and Liverpool in their tournament.
Working in Amersfort for the next 2 weeks til I get back to Dusseldorf.

there are a lot that don't realise how lucky they are to be able to get to all the home games. we've even got season ticket holders sitting in pubs in glasgow watching the game

anyway i'll be giving them an extra cheer from

A display by the incomparable masters of soccer at Celtic Park,3:00pm on a fresh sunny saturday afternoon. Me, sitting in my seat all cozy from the chill.
It doesnt get any better, for me. Keep it simple Celtic.

To all overseas: keep reminding us how lucky we are!
A song then offski...
Oh Willie Maley was his name,
He brought some great names to the game,
When he was the boss at Celtic Park.
He taught them how to play football,
He made the greatest of them all,
Gallacher and Quinn have left their mark.
And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay,
They gave us Johnstone, Tully, Murdoch, Auld and Hay,
And most of the football greats,
Have passed through Parkhead's gates,
All to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
In '38 there was a show,
And Glasgow was the place to go,
A model of the Tower was football's prize.
England sent four of the best,
They didn't meet with much success,
Because the trophy ended up in Paradise.
And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay,
They gave us Johnstone, Tully, Murdoch, Auld and Hay,
And most of the football greats,
Have passed through Parkhead's gates,
All to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
Well Coronation time was here,
Fifty three, that was the year,
Another four from England met their doom.
They said we'll have to try again,
But like before it was in vain,
Because the Cup is in the Parkhead trophy room.
And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay,
They gave us Johnstone, Tully, Murdoch, Auld and Hay,
And most of the football greats,
Have passed through Parkhead's gates,
All to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
And then in 1957
We faced a guy called Georgie Niven
The game is etched on every Celtic fan,
Wilson, Mochan and McPhail.
And Willie Fernie scored as well,
As Celtic beat the Rangers 7-1.
And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay,
They gave us Johnstone, Tully, Murdoch, Auld and Hay,
And most of the football greats,
Have passed through Parkhead's gates,
All to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
Well ten years, they had gone and so,
To Portugal we had to go,
To play the team that Italy adored.
Celtic went out to attack,
They won the Big Cup and they brought it back,
The first time it had been on British shores.
And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay,
They gave us Johnstone, Tully, Murdoch, Auld and Hay,
And most of the football greats,
Have passed through Parkhead's gates,
All to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
Now it's a new millennium,
We have a brand new stadium,
And we're among the honours once again.
The Celtic fans do proudly sing,
Larsson is the king of kings,
And he joins the list of famous Celtic men.
And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay,
They gave us Johnstone, Tully, Murdoch, Auld and Hay,
And most of the football greats,
Have passed through Parkhead's gates,
All to play football the Glasgow Celtic way,
All to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
HAIL! HAIL!

Utrecht is a nightmare if ya don´t know where things are.
Amersfoort is nice but quiet.
Staying in Loosdrecht near Hilversum so anything is better than that village.
Mates own a pub in Den Haag but that´s too far to travel to after work.
I´ll leave the car in Amersfoort and get the train to the Dam. Actually working there(XXX) on Mon/Tue on the Osterdock near the Chineese ship/ Nemo.
German mate will drive me back to the hotel after, legless I hope ;-)

It was great to see Brown so relaxed & having a laugh as his body language in recent weeks has been a concern.. He also reffered to Caldwell danicng on a night out in London - sounds like a happy dressing room.
Love to put a good few by this mob today, almost enjoy beating as much as tfod, almost.

lets try and stay calm bhoys

Hearts will be a difficult oponents today
So a little patience before skippy scores in the 25th minute

Sensing some optimism on here over the last while... the team and management are sensing it to. The 'others' are going in the opposite direction... they're fading. Not even Kris Boyd can save them. Ahem.
Anyway, lhads, I've a dilema. I've just bought me a lovely hoose and there is an opportunity to name it, ie, have one of them plaques on the wall beside the front door. It's going to be Celtic related, obviously, and I'm toying with the idea of "Paradise", but not sure. The missus has given me carte blanche in the naming stakes, as long as she gets to name our first kid (no 'Henrik' this time round then)..
So, any ideas?

Well I can’t speak for any of you other sad gits but I’ve been sitting here, waiting for this game to start, since the sun went down more than three hours ago.
I agree with a lot of others… this is the big one. Since the last big one, and until… the next big one.
Now we’re on a wee roll, and if we get a classy result today, there will be many a meeting held to surpass that which we all witnessed in Pablo’s Ipox bunker expose.
Just for the day the pressure will shift south, and tomorrow, more than ever before in the history of a Scottish football game, the focus of crowds’ apart will not be on the football, but instead on that least, liked - MIB.
Watch closely. Mr. O’Neill and all those sober bhoys who are brave enough to phone that partial pit of slime. Notes – preparation, practice, a big deep breath and a large one for the stomach – then call. Give them laldie.
If we get it right today, then every pair of eyes that celebrates in witness will be obliged to jury tomorrow’s festival of Class I refereeing. (believe me I typed that with a straight face only because it is that serious)
Mr McCurry… you could very well be… the most scrutinised Ref … Scotland has ever known.
I know that; you know that; Scottish football knows that. Every man and his pet dog, or goat, knows that.
I wonder how your stomach feels right now. Before the Celtic even kicks off.
Mr Speirs, if you’re tuning in at a loose end, his performance tomorrow, and those gone by, are there for you to comment on. It’s not Unidentifiable Flying Objects we are talking about here… it is instead simply… Unforgivable Fornicating Cheating.

Why don't you just go out like the rest of us and watch the game on POLSAT
Whoops Paul!!
Does that merit my first deletion after over 3 years??
-
Dub-tim, it depends how big the plaque is but how about ` Hail Hail The Celts are here, We are the champions, 9 in a row, European Cup winners Jinky Henke Aidenky Villa` Then if theres any space left put `not Aston` in brackets. If you still have space, go on to state how much you hate Rangers, and Mike McCurry is a cheat. Hope this has been helpful, and first wean and wee Henrik will have years of joy from it.
-
The house number to the left of mine is No 56, and its No 52 at the other side. I changed my number to 1967, and haven`t had a council tax or gas bill ever since. (A hun I know copied me, changing his to 1972, and hasn`t had a giro or a summons since)

bobby russell,
it's 3eur a letter, man!
i cant call it "No7" either apparently as it'll confuse the postie...

Good morning/evening/afternoon all, from a freezing cold Beijing. Been off line for a while, with work and then being away for the last 10 days.
Here's hoping for a good performance and a confident, assured win today.
Cheers

Dub-tim, my local B&Q are doing a `buy one get 45 free offer. You simply put one in your trolley and the others in your pocket.

Right, best of both worlds here, I`m now off to the pub, then to the game, then back to the pub. Is that the best of three worlds? 3-1 to the Hoops, Robson first, Naka & Aiden.
-
Special regards to Martin42 & Paul67's family - hope all is well.
I'm back home in Leitrim today, therefore, expecting the usual standard of commentary on CQN.
At my parents surprise Golden Wedding Anniversary party last night. I'm off the booze for Lent and it has been absolute torture. Not only did I feel a social leper but was designated driver. Last trip being to Roscommon at 6am this morning. After a shower a shave and some lunch, I am now ready for the 4-0 demolishing of the Wee Mini Huns.
West Ireland is glorious this afternoon in sunshine

Hail Hail
3-1 for the Hoops Skippy first goal.
Is Donati going to start today as more than likely he will start on Wednesday as Brown is suspended against Barca. Besides I now prefer Donati better than Hartley, the Laptop Loyal couldn't wait last Sunday to slagged Donati while praising Hartley. I thought Hartley had an excellent game on Sunday but I thought Donati played better against Killie and Celtic defended better with Donati playing deeper.
For those that wonder where McCurry learnt his cheating.

Dub Tim,
I don't suppose your house is the third in that row?

2nd dilema...
with today's game being so close to wednesday's game, do i wear my lucky socks and pants today or on wednesday?
dont have a tumble-dryer yet, so might not get them washed and dried in time...
think i'll wear them today...

Dr John Reid is being interviewed on Radio Scotland in the next few minutes for those that would like to tune in.
Brief except was Chic Young asking him would Celtic think of selling Aiden, his answer we are not in a selling position like Rangers

Beijingcelt: I'm going to be in Beijing on the weekend of 29 March. Is there anywhere to watch the Celtic-Rangers game?
-
Hartley on bench
As I predicted
-
Radio Four: - Chick – if somebody comes in with a 15 million pound offer for AIiden McGeady would you sell?
John Reid – we don’t share Rangers Problems – no we wouldn’t sell but if the player wants to go what could we do. But to answer your question… NO we wouldn’t look to sell.
-
Lanarkcelt
Celtic/Rabgers games are usually shown in one of the expat pubs, but it dies vary from game to game. Let me know nearer the time and I should be able to tell you what the most likely place to catch it will be.
Cheers
-
Lanarkcelt. Sorry about the poor typing. That should of course be "Rangers," and "does."
Cheers
-
OK, Beijing Celt. Will do. Thanks!
-
Good interview with Dr John even though I do not like his politics. Said all the right things and put the Huns in their place. He said the plan is to maintain Celtic as a force in Europe.
The only thing I didn't like was that when he was talking about Lawwell, twice he said he looks after Celtic the company, maybe I am an old romantic fool but I hate my team being reffered as a company.

Link now up with John Reid interview

I think that was his point. PL looks after Celtic the company allowing WGS to look after Celtic the team.
Mr Succulent Lamb himself on BBC Radio Scotland saying "David Murray will do something to generate finance soon." Claiming he has inside knowledge.
Incidentally, he also says Rangers' financial figures compare favourably with ours.
Yep....mm hmm..... aye.
-
Fantastic comment by JR re Rangers problems, sir minty moonbeams will be raging.
On todays game I'm with Narrowbhoat tim and happy Massimo is back in the line up, felt he was playing really well recently until illness ruled him out last week. I can't imagine Samaras is gonna be too happy continually sitting on the bench, he's pretty much in the same situation he was at Man city at the moment. He did say that he came here to play and to win his place in the Greece squad and play in the champions league but unless skipp or JVOH get injured I don't think he'll shift them any time soon.
3-1 the hoops
Hail Hail
-
still noted Chic Young saying that its a great achievment for any scottish side, Rangers or Celtic to be in top 20 money league.
Its things like this that show the automatic bias some people still have.
-

I noticed that myself, was waiting till I reached the end of the interview to comment.
-
CS
I know what his point was and I know Celtic is also a business, doesn't mean I have to like it being refer as a Company.
Celtic is my history, my heritage, my first love, my joy and my football team. I just have a hard time saying Celtic is my Company although Celtic has been good company when I have been down.
Mon the Hoops

NBT
Celtic is definitely my favourite company. But the company on here is not bad on a match day :^)
-
donttellmeitsrogannext,
It's a situation like this that means that Samaras must take his chances when they arrive. Even though he didn't score last week i was very impressed with the fact that he won almost everthing in the air and looked sharp.
-
I think the pace of Samaras could be vital coming on as an impact player in a game like this as defenders are tiring.
Then again it would be good to see him getting a start soon.

An early goal could spark a rout.
COME ON CELTIC!
-
good to see that the bhoys and ghirls have turned out in thier numbers.
Time to get the atmosphere back at home, and scare the b'jesus out of teams...starting with this lot of mince!
-
Hartley will be gutted not to be starting today
-
Celtic starting well, putting a bit of pressure on their goal but as yet no clearcut chance.
Winning most of the 50-50's by the sounds of it.
-
Half chance for JVoH from a good Hinkel cross - comes to nothing
-
does anyone know what UK tv station Barca v us will be on on 4 March?
Going back to UK for a week and just realised ill be in Bristol at my in laws for the away game!
Bah!
They havent got sky but have freeview, so if its setanta that means i could pay for it doesnt it?
-
Skippy pulled down on edge of box - maybe on wrong side for Naka though
-
Free Kick to Celtic in a dangerous position as McDonald ran in.
Nakamura steps up....
Off the post!
-
naka hits the post!!
-
Seemingly the ball rebounded off the post and hit McDonald in the chest but deflected straight into the arms of the keeper.
-
Off the post - and back into keepers hands of skippy. More class from Naka
-
madeira - get along to Forester's, mad Celtic pub.
-
keeper was rooted to the spot - had no idea where the ball was going
-
After great pressing and great football from Celtic Nakamura's left foot shot is saved. JVOH's header is deflected wide for a corner from the redirected ball in.
First corner comes to nothing.
-
C'mon The Hoops! Great day to put them under some serious pressure. Sounding good on the radio!! Get into these jambos!
-
good pressure from the bhoys...corner
-
The game's being played at a furious pace just now with both teams closing down quickly in possession. Celtic with the better of the chances so far.
Second corner as McDonald shoots off Berra.
-
Naka and Aiden have switched sides
-
Nothing from the corner but Celtic retain possession.
JVOH SCORES!
1-0
-
Yes, yes and thrice yes. JVoH.
-
McGeady made it seemingly. More to come from someone at the game no doubt.
-
Big Jan - kill them off bhoys
-
Hinkel and Naka linking, McDonald's shot blocked.
Hearts break from the chance but McManus snuffs it out.
-
Great cross by Aiden, Jan strectched a leg out in mid air and directed it into the corner. Playing really well so far
-
Donati breaking down a couple of Hearts moves, good to hear.
Hearts having a bit of possession just now but wasteful when they get into the final third.
-
