Wee Gordon quips (from Times Online):
Reporter: "Gordon, can we have a quick word please?" Strachan: "Velocity" [walks off]
1. On Wayne Rooney : It's an incredible rise to stardom, at 17 you’re more likely to get a call from Michael Jackson than Sven Goran Eriksson.
2. Reporter: Can I ask you about Augustin Delgado [an underperforming player Strachan had purchased for Southampton] Strachan: I've got more important things to think about. I've got a yogurt to finish by today, the expiry date is today. That can be my priority rather than Augstin Delgado.
3. Reporter: Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around? Strachan: No. I was asked if I thought I was the right man for the job and I said, "No, I think they should have got George Graham because I’m useless."
4. Reporter: Gordon, you must be delighted with that result? Strachan: You’re spot on! You can read me like a book.
5. Reporter: This might sound like a daft question, but you'll be happy to get your first win under your belt, won't you? Strachan: You're right. It is a daft question. I'm not even going to bother answering that one. It is a daft question, you’re spot on there.
6. Reporter: Bang, there goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it? Strachan: No, I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home, become an alcoholic and maybe jump off a bridge. Umm, I think I can take it, yeah.
7. Reporter: where will Marion Pahars fit into the team line-up? Strachan: Not telling you! It's a secret.
8. Reporter: Gordon, Do you think James Beattie [one of Strachan's players] deserves to be in the England squad? Strachan: I dont care, I'm Scottish
9. Reporter: You don't take losing lightly, do you Gordon? Strachan: I don't take stupid comments lightly either.
10. Reporter: So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today? Strachan: What areas? Mainly that big green one out there….
The scene is a BBC studio. It's half-time in an important World Cup match between 2 countries ,neither of which are from the UK.
After a couple of minutes discussion of the first half the conversation moves on to the subject of what changes should or should not be made by England's manager for their next match.
Time moves on and it's almost time for the second half to begin.Gary Lineker turns to Gordon Strachan, who has sat silently through the discussion, and asks him "What would you do Gordon?"Strachan says "It's nothing to do with me ,I'm not English." Lineker persists."Yes but if you were English, what would you do?"
"What would I do if I was English," comes the reply.
"If I was English I'd top myself."
After their first away victory the reporter asked something along the lines of 'Gordon, what changes did you make to the team to gain your first away win in over a year?' Strachans' reply was simple yet classic 'We sacked the bus driver'

Hope your right lad.

yet again another gold medal

Pitch looks ok. Lets hope for a good display but it's still the points that count most.
Mon the Hoops !!
Killie 0 Bhoys 2
-
Mornin all,
Only 10 players listed in the line-up on C67 - No RB. Maybe WGS thinks that is all he needs. None of the new boys starting by the looks of it.
-
mon the hoops

We need a good display here, nothing can be worse than the Falkirk game.A good show to siganl our intent in capturing 3 in a row.
Best of luck Magic,we love you!
-
Caldwell starts with an aimless punt up the park - please no more
-
Celtic awarded a foul!!
-
I meant a free kick for a foul. I blame the schools.
-
Couple of good long passes by Donati already.
And good to see McGeady and Naka switching wings.
-
First spell of possession for the bhoys- some good pasing. Naylor has started well
-
Stuck in work without a hope of seeing the game. Unless the hordes of women and computer-obsessed males in the canteen aren't watching the TV, then I might be in business for a while!
-
Stadium looks empty. Do Killie have any fans?
-
Killie playing deep looking for the break. JVOH control let him down after a great pass from skoosh.
-
3rd time already a throw is given to Killie when clearly ours.
-
Celtic defending well. Two clear throw in decisions given to Killie by the Incompetents in the black. JVOH almost scores.
-
Sone strange decisions by the ref so far. Killie player knocks the ball out right in front of ref but the ref says it was McGeady.
Half chance for JVoH but saved by keeper
-
Hate that horrible green strip
-
Celtic now in control. Free kick. Naka to take.
-
Killie player blocks a FK from 2yds away but no booking. Chance for Naka...
-
Naka free kick into the wall. Scott Brown winning it back and fouled, so another chance for Naka.
-
Another one. Better position. C'mon wee man!
-
Naka hits wall but Brown wins another FK - this time a bit closer
-
Hits the wall again
-
Hit the wall both times. Needs more practice!!
-
Fir those in black and white, we're in that horrible green away strip, the officials are in flourescent yellow and the Killie keeper is in purple.
rainbow cfc
-
Good move - Naka to JVoH to Skippy, shot blocked.
Midfield is looking much better than last week.
-
Caddis cross for Skippy to score!
-
Scott Brown more involved today = maybe he's feeling the pressure from the new signings
Good ball in from JVoh to McD but skippy fluffed his attempt at goal
GOAL Skippy 1-0
-
terrific goal after some great killie defending
-
We've played some great football so far today. As well as showing heart and desire.
Long may it continue. Keep the foot firmly on the gas Celtic!
-
Excellent goal.
Naka played in Caddis on the overlap who found Skippy inside the 6yd box. Good finish
It was McD's 3rd chance inside a minute. Bhoys are playing well today
-
Yet again Nakamura unlocks the defence... Good, quick pss from Caddis and McDonald done well at the near post!
-
-
Far better than last week already..keep it up bhoys!!Killie are crap when they have to do anything other than defend...one more b4 half time would be nice.
-
Hope this isn't a curse but Caddis has played very well so far.
McDonald booked for an earlier challenge.
-
The Bhoys right on their game today. Lots of running off the ball and finding their men with the passes. Young Caddis doing well so far.
-
Skippy booked - two shoulder to shoulder challenges both given as fouls. That's what he gets for scoring.
-
McD booked - not sure what for. Maybe for having the cheek to score a goal
-
McGeady's decision making is still not the best. A few times he's got into good positions and chose the wrong option. Come on Aiden!
-
I thought Boruc was going to lamp that guy there. Followed through on the holy goalie, rightly booked.
-
Hamill booked for a foul on Artur
-
JVoH hits the post, Skippy rebound off the line.
McGeady and Naka running this game.
-
Kilmarnock are hanging on at the moment. Several great chances in succession there.
-
Ooooops.
This match is, of course, pointless.
I blame the schools.
-
Desperate defending from Killie - JVoH hit the post but ball scambled away
-
Bit of a 'goalmouth stramash' going on there. Don't know how it stayed out...
ArthurMontford CSC
-
McGeady again beats his full back, JVoH shot well saved.
-
Another attempt from JVoH - good save this time
-
Celtic are playing magnificent football just now. In the last 5-10 minutes McGeady has exploded into life with a couple of excellent balls from the left setting up successive chances for JVOH. Our strikers looking sharp on the rebounds. Another goal could well kill this game.
-
Could be three or four. Killie defending desperately. Keeper playing well.
-
Great tackle from McManus to stop a Killie counter. Corner.
-
The work rate of JVOH is much improved - a coincidence that Samaras is on the bench?
-
Good defending from Mick after a slip from Caldwell
-
Killie may have 5 men in midfield but we are dominating. Brown and Donati both working hard. Naka and McGeady finding space wide.
More goals to come!
-
i'm stuck at work south of the border.
all your comments are giving me a nice warm feeling. Hopefully we've turned the corner.
cheers keep up the good work
-
Agreed on JVoH - he is having a good game
-
Great goal, magic vision from Naka and shows how our team looks so much better with overlapping full backs. Agree Brown looks far more up for it.
I don't care why his head has been down or who's fault it is, as long as he cracks on from here to the end of the season.
I think JVOH read Paul's article on the pressure on places up front now as he look to have upped a gear today as well.
Some of the throw in and shoulder challenge decisions have been woeful but all round I am very pleased today.
Want a second before half time as i need to take my nipper to a party in a few mins.!
-
JVOH must have been gee-ed up by the new signings. Naka the Hacker takes out a Killie player.
-

Boruc gave us a heart in mouth moment there, spilling that long range effort wide when he really should have held it.
Phew!
-
Naka pulls down Killie player - no booking this time - but you know it is coming
-
Long shot not taken cleanly by Artur - round the post.
-
Redeems himself, punching the corner clear.
-
Holy Goalie lets one slip through his hands. Thankfully wide.
-
Artur makes a bit of a mess of a simple save but danger cleared
-
Killie starting to string a few passes together. Celtic need to up the workrate again a wee bit.
-
Our CHs are still playing too many long balls up the park. There's really no need for this when our midfield are playing so well.
-
Killie hav come back into it in the last 5 mins - 37mins gone
-
Corner Celtic...
-
Surely we cant make this game hard for ourselves. They are here for the taking.
Wrap the game up before half time and get Samaras on in the second. That's my idea anyhoo...
MC
-
JVoH booked for late tackle closing down.
-
JVoH booked for a late challenge
-
Good chance spurned by Killie there. Apparently the flag was up for offside against the Killie strikers running in, but we still need to be a bit careful. Come on the hoops!
-
Killie flash a shot across goal. 4 players off-side - comes to nothing
-
JVOH showing good desire, back defending there breaking up a move.
-
JVOH is fired up big time. Celtic fighting for every ball. Great to see.
-
We've gone a bit sloppy in the last five minutes. A few misplaced passes.
-
Another rampaging run by Caddis, set up by Naka, great ball in just avoids JVOH and falls to McGeady wide. His chipped ball in is taken by Combe at his near post.
And as I type, another great surge by Caddis down the right. Knocked out for a throw, taken into the box where it's held up by JVOH who tees up Brown, his shot is deflected over but the ref gives a free kick against JVOH. Poor decision but to be fair Brines has had a decent first half.
1-0 half time.
-
Halt time:
Kilmarnock 0:1 Celtic
Much better performance from Celtic, could easily be more in front.
Nakamura is the spark.
-
1 - 0 HT. Deserved lead, should really be more than one.
Midfield playing well, everyone working hard. Wide men making chances and the strikers are both working hard and getting on the end of things.
Paul Caddis playing well, doesn't look out of place at all. A couple of good tackles adn the assist for the goal - he can be happy with his debut so far.
-
HT Killie 0-1 Celtic
First 35 mins were excellent but Killie came back into it at the end of the half. We've had 6 shots at goal to their 1 and that says it all. JVoH and McD have been grafting hard today. With a new CF on the bench they are right up for this - I blame WGS :)
Caddis has had a good debut. Great overlapping run to create the goal. Defence looks pretty solid against a weak Killie front-line.
Scott Brown has also stepped up his game today. Donati a bit quiet but still effective in the centre. Need more from both Aiden and Naka on the flanks. Naka did well to feed Caddis leading up to the goal.
All in all a good performance so far. 5 and a half clean sheets on the trot. Long may that continue
-
As good a performance as i have seen from us for some time .
the best player on the pitch for them is the keepre , we should be at least 3 up .
an all round good performance
Caddis ..excellent cross for the goal and a few good other ones
Brown...in the first half hour bossed the middle playing against 3 guys
JVOH..the best he has played for ages , really unlucky not to have scored..if Samaras makes him play like this for the rest of the season then he will have been worth the loan on that alone
McDoald working really hard and with luck would have had another or even a hat trick
keep it up bhoys
MUCH BETTER
STAND UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS

I wonder if young Caddis has another half dozen good games like this, then maybe we will get a bit from a middle of the table EPL club for £7m, £9m, £11m or £12m
-
A very decent performance by Celtic. Is it just my imagination, or has JVOH upped his game? He seems to be tackling back and putting himself in amongst them a lot more, and he's linking well with McDonald. Maybe at last he sees a serous threat to his place. Plus the guy gets absolutely no favours from refs, 4 defenders around him in the box and free kick given to killie. It's not just about being cute.
-
Watching the game in Honolulu today - 2am kick-off :) Anyone here from the Waikiki CSC ?
-
Is Paul Caddis ,the real cafu ,instead of that mutton who went to ttottenbacon coldspur
scoreanothercelticplease csc
-
Pitch looks in good nick but greasy surface making for lots of slipping. Affecting Aiden's Stopping and turning.
-
Sorry I'm late chaps.
Does anyone know we have on the bench (apart from Gord).
-
So far so good, hoping for some goals in the second half. Mr Brines is penalising our strikers every time.
Come on the Bhoys!
-
Our subs are Brown, O'Dea, Hartley, Sno & Samaras.
David Fernandes on for Killie.
-
Fighting Irish are you suggesting we might we might have the green and white cafu?
If we sell him to Spurs then we should get an extra 5 mill for not being tainted by the darkside.
-
Noticed in one of the rags this morning that new Ipox loanee, Steve "Interesting" Davis is the Norn Iron captain.
Does this mean that he will automatically be booed at every away SPL ground?
TTTTcuriousCSC
-
David Fernandes on
-
Fernandez on for Killie as the second half kicks off.
COME ON CELTIC!
-
Fighting Irish
:-))
That made me laugh.
-
-
With both our strikers booked I think we may see Samaras sooner rather than later.
-
Great build up by the Celtic front two. McDonald killed it and fed JVOH behind him who fed McGeady in space wide. McGeady ran into trouble sparking a Killie break. I still think his decision making has to improve.
-
Killie moved to 4-4-2 which should give us more space in midfield.
Caddis again bombing forward and JVoH shoots wide.
-
Superb interplay between Caddis and Nakamura. Caddis feeds JVOH in a great position but instead of slipping McDonald through he went for goal, well wide. Shame as it was a great move.
-
Shot from JVoH wide after an excellent ball from Caddis. Caddis and Naka linked well again
-
Killie putting some pressure on us at the moment, two corners in quick succession.
Second corner coming in. Break on from it!
Naylor makes a great run. Feeds McDonald, offside.
-
bit of pressure from Killie - the bhoys need to get back on top of this game
-
Bad play by McD there to get caught off-side - we had 4 against
