From yesterday, which makes a lie of my opening sentence.

The sun is not going to rise tomorrow, it might never rise again. The doomsayers have escaped Dystopia and they are out to get you. They invite you to join their agnostic rebellion populated by the coalition of the faithless invertebrates

They have come out of the closet and they are pontificating ruthlessly the length and breadth of cyber space.

Their noisome hypocrisy and graceless denial of any form of ‘stare decisis’ in their evaluation for the future prospects of Gordon Strachan - the man, and Gordon Strachan - the manager, beggars belief. Supporters of the all inclusive club who don’t subscribe to the ethos – well I ask you.

They boast that their opinions are funded in impartiality and pragmatism. Yet they have so often, in the past, contradicted themselves with their professions of personal dislike of Gordon Strachan, and further, they have displayed gross bastardisation of pragmatism to read… wishful thinking. Nothing more; nothing less; just pure, mongrel, wishful thinking.

They have no practical solution to our clubs ailments other than to scramble a host of names in the hope that one may appear from through the looking glass to rid them of this ginger heided imp. That is ‘Pragmatism’ by proxy of ignorant ignorance. When pressed to share a panacea that would elevate our club to the giddy heights that would satisfy their inflated ambitions - their predictable offering is an omelette of names, managers and players alike, all laudable in their abilities, but few if any, who would be willing to grace the SPL.

They advocate change but cannot subscribe a solution. They seek your concurrence in defeat before anything has been ceded, and should you be resolute, then in payment of your opposition, they attempt to deride you faith and optimism with scorn borne not of courage - but of cowardice. The league is yet there for the winning. The flag still flies over Parkhead. Who would be the one that would lower it today and shamelessly forfeit its meaning to substantiate an opinion? Go on be as honest as you want – would you be the one that would lower that flag, this day? Would you in your extended virtual depression forfeit the chance or retaining it just to vindicate an opinion and to bring closure to your big girls blouse of a mood.

The citizens of Dystopia (darkened mine shaft) opine with tainted syllogisms, contaminated by personal preconceptions. They see what they want to see and disregard the rest. If you don’t share their apathy and pessimisms then you are deemed – delusional. Your optimism is a pox that demands you be banished to the ends of the earth for daring to accept that you’re in a real fight. A real fight - which we are still more than capable of winning. Which some of us as yet are not prepared to forfeit. At least some of us still believe we can do it. And until we mathematically can’t, I’m going to keep on believing. And if, and when, the fat lady sings and if the glory is not ours, I still wont defect my soul and self to such a diluted existence as that of the cynics. Dyke jumpers, U-Turners and Glory Fhans alike.

Such offerings of capitulation can be viewed as ‘bathetic’ and further ‘cancerogenic’ to the fragile morale of the general support. As stated previously, the crowd’s anxieties can easily be transmitted to the team on the field. Your posts would leave me believing you have a bulimic supporter disorder. You gorge with the glory and you boak, bilious, in any adversity.

When your club, your manager, your team, your fellow supporters, most need you in solidarity, you shy the fight and weasel your despair in a fashion that would delight Gollum himself. You guys must weary of all the anti-whingeing to your whingeing; just like those who are optimistically predisposed are tired of your capitulation and apostasy. Again – before the fight has even begun. Your

Whether we win the league or not this year - we have, to date, in situ, one of the most successful managers in the history of our club. He has delivered trophies to equal the record of many, and surpass more, of that achieved by previous managers of our great club.

He deserves the courtesy of this seasons end, with our full support, at least. In my modest opinion he deserves as much latitude and support as that which we would afford Martin O’Neill. After all Gordon Strachan is the manager of Celtic Football Club. Martin O’Neill is but a fond memory.
Maybe if some were to indulge their conscience rather than worship the coin they might find that there is still hope at least.

I hope we get a good result today. I hope we get a good result every time we play. I believe we are capable of getting a result today, and the next game, and the next, and the…. Just like every other football supporter of every single club around the world. I hope that the players of my team keep their towels for the post match shower.

Now maybe I’ll have to supplement my Paranoia pills with a batch of ant-optimism ones.

Pessimism, Cynicism, Capitulation, Apostasy, Lethargy: the tools which built the club we know today.

Yeah… tell that to Jock Stein and the Lisbon Lions.

If they hadn’t of believed - our history wouldn’t look quite so illustrious now - would it?

Whether we win the league, or not, this year, ten years, fifteen years, down the track, maybe my good god will gift me as much that I can sit my grandchild on my lap and say... look son, the year we had to battle the Troggs, and everybody else, for the league, this is what I wrote.
I‘ll be able to look that nipper in the eye and my conscience won’t GBH me in shame.

You can support our team… your way and I’ll support our team… my way.

Today was a big day for us all. A pity we can't move forward.

Still we must be united in one thing and that is the need for 3 points from every game.

The title is still in our hands only just but not yet lost.

However anything less than at least a fighting performance and two wins against the huns and i fear for the unity of our club.

Strachan has divided the away support already.

Some of you on here like me go to the away games. So they will know when I say they have become rather fraught with probably 10% hating the ground strachan walks on 20% loathing him and 10% wanting him away. The other 50% giving him until the end of the season or one more year.

This has led to many situations or as pat short would say arguments.

I have only witnessed a few at parkhead but against dundee unt as the clock ticked in the north stand lower despite us trying to sing our heads off all around me guys who have sat in the same vicinity for years began to argue and the atmosphere was not nice.

As the whistle blew i even saw childish push me push back situations all because of the views on strachan.

My personal view is he has to win the title or be sacked but his bizare tactics and formations make me think he may be gone before then.

However, celtic have my 100% support and would have had it today if that bog they call fir park was playable.

Celtic must unite but the valid points of many posters on here who are perceived as negative must be given a rational analysis. Just to say the garden ain't rosey does not make you an inferior celtic fan.

We have wasted money on players who are not fit to wear the hoops and never will be like donatie. A pattern i am afraid.

We have players with talent stagnating like brown.

We have players who were in line for POTY who can't get a game

The rot stops here we must play our strongest 11 mentally as well as skill wise in every game.

    We must win this league.

    Winning ugly will do me.

Am I the only one who is happy about this? I have a wee feeling that we will improve dramatically with a bit of sun on our backs (and a big rest for the likes of Scotts Brown and MacDonald). Here's hoping we don't have to go back to Fir Park next week either.

    Park...salford

I'm with you there to an extent. I was worried that with the Fir Park pitch pretty poor even if it had been playable, we would ahve struggled to play football on it - it would have been anyone's game. Surely now we can get this match transferred - to Hampden ?

I would wholeheartedly agree that the game should be transferred to another venue.

Scottish football has lost any credibility it had this season with the Gretna farce and this is just another symptom of that situation.

Motherwell have had two chances to provide a proper playing surface for this match. There should not be a third.

This is getting crazy, are Motherwell going to get penalised for not having a playable pitch, it is not as if there are not lots of other grounds in roughly the same area that are playable.

I will now have to do all the DIY jobs I was using the football as an excuse to not do, this is a disgrace a man with my delicate hands being forced into the dangerous world of DIY, I demand a a football match.

Aldo, Movable Type is a reality.

Parkheadcumsalford, there is no accounting for the state of the pitch and what that would have done to our play, but Celtic need to get back out and win a game as soon as possible.

Spirit of… would that be a St Paddy field?

Sir J, I wonder if Gretna would be prepared to move their remaining home games to the away venue. This would ensure the games would be played and would probably earn them more money.

Agree with you on the support being divided.

Is there a possibility that the players are also divided.
We often play like 11 strangers hoping that someone will take the bull by he horns and produce something special.

I don't think we have many players who are mentally strong.
I'm afraid that we will only win the league if Rangers fall apart.

The mismanagement isnt on the financial side but on how the resulting resources have been managed..

Our defense is not fit for purpose and has not been from day 1 of the strachan era.
We lost 5 goals to Artmedia and then 4 goals to Motherwell.
How much of a pointer did our manager require as to where the problems lay?

    His first signing?
A Burnley player ; Mo Camara.

    Further defenders followed..
Paul Telfer, Du Wei, Adam Virgo, Gary Caldwell.
A full back was signed from the Championship; Lee Naylor.
All these guys get a run out as Bobo is 'frozen -out'
Doumbe is given a contract after failing to impress the lower echelons of England

Boruc .... It could be argued we got lucky there. But the keeper we signed as back up; Mark Brown?

Strach recognises 'fancy' footballers and is I think an intelligent coach. But its quite apparent he is a poor motivator and he couldnt recognise a defender if.... the league depended upon it.

Hinkel is too little too late.
We needed 'steel' & 'experience' in defense to deal with the physical challenge of wattie and the superior football challenge of the champions league.

If as all the 'indicators indicate' we lose the league , a change is required!!

If we win the league then the manager should be given a year to assemble a defense worthy of the name.
No more defenders from Burnley, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Caley Thistle or Southampton. No more free transfers .

Despite those who say a rest may do some players good, the conspiracy-theory side says that the two Scotts are a game away from a 3-game ban. Guess which games the bans many include. I know this is a step too far, but the pitch may be unplayable but my understanding is the official reason is it is 'waterlogged'.

Mcgrory for… our defence has, in fact, improved immeasurably since Gordon’s “day one”. We have the best defensive record in the league and the second best in Scottish football.

I think that your assertion, “Boruc .... It could be argued we got lucky there” deserves some kind of prize.

MON COULD NOT manage the team on this budget, the vast majority of his successful signings were £4, £5, £6 million. The majority of his poorest signings were in the 'budget buys' category.

"We are vulnerable at set pieces and pose little threat when we have them."
I think we pose more of a threat than any other SPL team at set pieces because our free kick takers usually score when we need them to and I am certain we have scored from a considerable amount of corners this season...any stat guys want to get a solid figure for that one!?
If you are making a point and need to back it up with someone who doesn't play for us then lets continue...a composed player who lacks endeavor...
STILIAN (or is it Stilyan now he's in the EPL?) PETROV

I'll agree with you on one thing - Donati sure does lack heart!

You make some comments about Rangers being more capable of beating us in a dogfight...what evidence do you have to support this, to REALLY support this...
This current Celtic squad (Team 3) has played Rangers ONCE this season, and it was MONTHS ago, last year in fact...and it was at Ibrox...still 2 games at CP to be played may I remind you...HOW do you know for certain that we will not turn them over?

I think I finally worked out the secret Tinytim method of figuring this all out so I ask, no I plead...

PLEASE can I have your time machine!

You know what, I might even use it to go back and watch players like Di Canio, Cadete and Pierre lose the league BUT at least maintaining that skillful, pretty football approach. Now thats value for money, I wish my superstar 50 seater box with the perfect view that I've had for the 120 years I've been watching the Celts was transferred back to that barren but oh so pleasing to the eye era. GIVE US A BREAK WITH THE 'I AM CELTIC' SPIEL.

We get it, you like to spend your hard earned cash on Celtic, the lucky ones that get to do that too are also delighted with ourselves but we don't all feel the need to explain it in HD quality just in case anyone thought we were fair weather supporters or whatnot. Just because you get to the games doesn't mean you support the team any better than a 10 year old sitting on the living room couch wearing the hoops, the scarf and the badges, chanting for the team against whoever.

I think you are actually mistaken about 'Walter' and his TEAM building abilities...he has brought together a bunch of Scottish Hun Thugs to participate in this campaign...We have a team, our squad has variation...that is the making of a TEAM. Perhaps you will be made fully aware of this come the end of the season, perhaps not. I can't give you a 100% time-travelled, future stamped guarantee but...

I have faith that you will.

    You said...

    "Rangers will win the league"
    then you said...

"Well ,i haven't given up hope yet ,despite my cerebral thought's."

Feels a bit like you're backtracking and trying to cover all the bases.

I have to say that you're comments conjure many thoughts and feelings...hope of winning the league is definitely not one of them.

In fact you actually admit that yourself...

"In my book they are strong favourites to do a treble.Infact my best hope is that DU can cause an upset on Sunday"

Ah well, sack Strachan, we've got someone 10x more qualified in the art of straight talkin'!

"Whilst many have had there heads in the sand, and have been blinded by success during a period of almost no competition .I have never been fooled."
Thats a lie...I remember the days when Tinytim was Strachan (RE: the I Am Strachan craze). So even you have been 'blinded'. I'm guessing you weren't foolish enough to celebrate those past two league wins, the 2 cup wins or the two times we qualified out of our group...course you weren't you had already been to the future and saw Celtic lose the league so no fun was to be had with that knowledge intact!

I can't stress enough how much I envy you and your amazing attitude, if only I had that pesky time machine that you have...

"What is coming was all so avoidable."

I wonder if you will be this depressed when you come back to tell us about the end of the world?

AND MY SECOND POST...also lost last night...

Why is the defense getting criticised these days...

8 clean sheets in the last 10 league games.

3 goals against in the last 10 league games.

    Whats so dire about that?

I'd love a clarification but I have a feeling it'll go along the lines of...

"Bobo Balde is better at heading and intimidating.

    Gary Caldwell is ugly.

Stephen McManus is never a captain."

it is simplistic to try and blame our current position on one individual.....were the board prepared to spend in the summer to bolster the defence....if no...then they should take an element of blame...if they were ...who's fault was it we didn't get in the players we needed....the managers? the scouting dept?.....

do you see where i'm going with this....even if you were sitting in the boardroom or in the football management department then you probably have different views of the same subject....

..i have never spoken to anyone within the current football management department...i have spoken to people on the board....their view, whilst maintaining a degree of confidentiality was that there was more money to spend in the summer...but they couldn't get the players the manager wanted....

so who's to blame....the manager? for aiming high? that would be harsh as long as he wasn't being completely unrealistic...

the season hit a major speed bump for me at Inverness....you can blame a number of people for that, however i lay the blame squarly at the door of pressley, who's performance that day was woeful, geriatric and thankfully he hasn't worn the jersey since....does the manager take a share of the blame for that? i would say so....he was in a minority of almost zero % who thought pressley was still any semblance of a player.....and therein lies the problem that alot of the support have with the manager....whilst he has done extremely well in some areas and has achieved some excellent results....he appears to share the same stubborn arrogance common in so many football professionals...which is that the support, having generally not played the game don't know much about anything and he and his cohorts are bound to be correct because they have played the game.....it's not a strachan disease it's a pro footballers disease.....

maybe a seat in the stand with the fans might help gordon see what most of us can see....maybe he does know what the problems are......it's time to be decisive not stubborn

the fact that he has been knocked into better shape for his media interviews is a start...he has been told to shape up and he has responded......time to do the same for the team now gordon

    stare decisis
have we uncovered a legal eagle?

    1970

The year of Nijinsky. The triple crown of the Derby, the St Leger and the 2,000 guineas were all won comfortably. Only an attack of worms prevented a win in the Arc. Even then the legendary horse was beaten by the smallest of margins.

The year of Brazil’s world cup triumph in Mexico. We watched in wide eyed wonder and in full colour for the first time, as the legendary Brazilians staged a soccer samba in the rarefied atmosphere of Mexico. The names of Pele, Carlos Alberto, Jairzinho, Rivelino and Tostao will forever make fans of a certain age go misty eyed and wistful.

The year of Leeds United. Well nearly.
England’s team of the decade were the darlings of the media and were carrying all before them. At the end of March they were strong favourites,
    at least down south,
for a unique and unparalleled treble, ….
    at least down south.
They had steel in Bremner, Charlton, Hunter and Cooper. Finesse and no small amount of skill and goals in Giles, Gray, Lorimer and Clarke.
As of the 28th of March they had lost only three games in 52 encounters.
However, by the end of April their season lay in ruins.
In just over a month, they lost 4 games in the league, were beaten in the FA Cup Final replay by Chelsea and had been embarrassed, outclassed, outplayed and thrashed TWICE by an inspired and inspiring Celtic side in the European Cup semi final.
Debate will rage whether they choked or were suffering from the rigours of a long season and the shortcomings of a thin squad. I believe every team has a bad patch sooner or later and their’s just came in April.

The point of all this reminiscence is that a less skillful, less gifted and shallower Rangers side has a chance, albeit slim, of completing a quadruple or at the very least a treble. Unlike ourselves in December, they have not yet hit a sticky patch. Our hope, and fervent prayer, is that come 29th March, they will suffer the rigours of a long season, succumb to the pressure of playing on multiple fronts, pick up a few injuries and like Devon Loch fall at the run in to the finishing post.

    'GG getting back to bed.

    Happy St Patrick's Day

Teser denied:( , which means a trip to the nursery to buy seed tatties.

Of course we must stand up for the Champions, but it's also time for the Champions to stand up. When we won the league in 1986 it was because the Maestro, and to an even greater degree Big Roy, grabbed the team by the scruff of the neck and cajoled them over the line.

We don't have that leadership now; when we got our league campaign back on track at the end of 2005 it was because Petrov and Hartson would win us games we looked like drawing.

There are a lot of seasoned players in the Celtic team;internationalists, ECL veterans, medal winners. They need to step up.

Cheers Sir J. I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere so thanks for the clarification.

Logically it doesn't make any sense but then neither does allowing two clubs to share one of the worst pitches in the SPL.

In your response to tinytim, I think you highlight what for me is the biggest problem of the Strachan era. Team 3. All these nonsensical references to Team 1, Team 2 and Team 3. What about Team Celtic? Where is the teambuilding if every season the lines are torn up and we start again? Where? I don't know what Celtic's strongest midfield is. More worryingly, I don't believe the manager having purchased Gravesen, Nakamura, Riordan, Donati, Jarosik, Hartley, Robson, Brown & Sno does either.

Accies do in fact play on an artificial park; they have promised to rip it up and plant a grass pitch for next year should they win promotion.
They will then relocate the surface to a site close to Douglas park for the community to use.
according to Bobby Reid on sportscene a couple of weeks ago.

Blantyre tim full of useless info as usual.

Irrespective of where the flag ends up this season, I, for one, can't wait for the season to be over.

I have never known one so fraught with off field incompetence and downright headless chicken administration.

The SPL has been run on an ad hoc, seat of the pants manner, with decisions taking arbitrarily, depending on whose needs were to be served.

There has been no thread of consistency, e.g. Hun game called of "for the sake of.." and Aberdeen refused.

The Scotland v Italy taking precedence over a league game was another hostage to fortune.

Nobody can anticipate weather induced cancellations, except that given the Scottish climate, there is always a likelihood of such events.

The allowing of ground sharing at Fir Park was gross incompetence, when you consider that SPL teams are required to play their own reserve team games at another venue.

No wonder Gordon Strachan has called for the SPL to clean up their act and present a competition that does not draw derision on the game in Scotland. I echo his appeal.

Roll on the end of the season.

throughout all of this i fail to understand why Gretna have been given so much special treatment by the spl, when they contribute absolutely nothing to our game.

a few years ago Falkirk where denied promotion as their ground was not adequate.

when Dundee, Motherwell and even Celtic were close to going to the wall the league did not offer to lend them money in lieu of prize money.

it strikes me that the spl have bought into the "fairytale" more than anyone, and everyone including fans, clubs, tv, and most importantly the image of the scottish game has suffered as a result, while the mileson family are simply allowed to cut their losses and drop gretna like a hot potato.

if they would be a great loss to our game i could understand but....

    Paul 67...
i havent thrown any muck , ive merely ran through a list of the defenders that he has signed???!!

Now there is a super book ; 'Fooled by Randomness'
It describes how we are some times hoodwinked by lucky people.

You said suggesting that Strach got lucky with Boruc was 'priceless' and should win a prize !!??

Was he lucky with Boruc? Did he know he had signed one of the top 5 goalkeepers in europe for £1m? How many times had he watched him ?
Of course he was lucky with Boruc.

If you sign 10 defenders and 1 of them turns out to be good , id suggest that you had a poor grasp of what makes a good defender and got lucky with 1 of them.

(likewise someone like Fergie will sign 8 or 9 good defenders and get unlucky with 1 or 2)

    Defenders Strach has signed;
TELFER, PRESSLEY, MARK WILSON, LEE NAYLOR, CALDWELL, BORUC, MARK BROWN, DU WEI, DOUMBE, (TRIED ROSS WALLACE), ADAM VIRGO, MO CAMARA, DIONE DUBLIN, HINKEL
    (Apologies if I missed any)

    Can I ask a question?
If you had to sign 10 defenders for Celtic, do you think you could have done better.
do you know something I reckon I could!

    Full respect for your blog
but ive never quite understood why you respond so aggresively to posters (like me) that you disagree with.
Im not throwing muck.... that would mean discussing personal issues. And I reckon ive shown that signing 10 defenders and landing 2 good uns , indicates that he got lucky with Boruc.

If you want to award me a prize. Thanks.
What do you reckon our manager should be awarded for saying yesterday...
''It wasnt till I got home (after match) that I realised how young our team was''

    Martin 42.
Id say the main indicators are
    A. a woeful record against his main opponent and
    B. not knowing his best team.
