We need a convincing win today.
-
Today's the day!!!
-
Donati replaced by Robson. Donati is suspended.
2200 tickets sold to Celtic fans. Lowest ever attendance for a game involving the Glasgow teams in the SPL expected
-
with your indulgence Paul67:
just thought I would ignore the timely Murray mince and focus on the pertinent.
Most important of all… A happy Easter to everybody especially those whose hearts may be both hollow and heavy. My sympathy, my empathy and a simple wee prayer of hope is yours from me.
I don’t care who plays today; what the result is today, as long as we score one more than Gretna. Everything else will be a bonus.
To the comedy.
Do not be distracted by Murray Drivel: Focus on the kick in the ghoulies that just might be coming your way: Don’t be distracted from the important issues by offerings of mince.
With the introduction of the ‘split’, the SPL have already shamed our national league to the level of farce in the eyes of the footballing world. By allowing Rangers to postpone their game against Gretna, so as to enhance their (Rangers) chances of European progression, the SPL have indelibly compounded it.
Now it appears the SPL may, once again, move the proverbial goal posts to allow the acknowledged ‘establishment team’ to potentially prosper - at the expense of every other team in the league. And let’s not fool ourselves here, it is not only Celtic who may potentially suffer, should a decision to distort our leagues calendar year be forth coming, by doing so it could potentially, adversely, affect every other team in our league too. After all - do points not equate pounds.
If it is deemed necessary, I have no doubt that certain individuals within the organisation, know as the SPL, will facilitate change to the exclusive benefit of one club, and one club only.
Some in their apathy may consider it futile to counter such favouritism and in their apathy they will get what they deserve. Sat on, from a great height, whenever others perceive them a threat or merely a nuisance. So if you’re not prepared to do your bit now – don’t bleat when the brown stuff hits your fan.
Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts, Hibs, every club in the SPL’s supporters should be up in arms at such a proposed aberration; But as things stand, especially Celtic supporters.
As it stands, we are the ones most likely to be disenfranchised by any abnormal manipulations to the agreed, and predetermined, structure of our league. A disenfranchisement that undoubtedly could prove very expensive.
Any unilaterally sanctioned extension to our league would without doubt fall into the category of favouatism and by extention - cheating. If Rangers have in fact approached the SPL with a request to extend – more shame them.
If they win the league within the rules then I would accept they deserved it. As a Celtic supporter I would not like it but… I could accept it and move on. If however they endeavour to win the league by favours granted, that are denied all other competing teams, then I say disgrace – shame on you. And if Rangers ignore such objections, by others, and persist in seeking favour, they are not only morally and ethically bankrupt as an club, they are immoral pond life, beneath contempt as an institution; as are any office holders that would grant them such a request.
(As are any reputable journalist who knows what a joined up sentence looks like, but refuses to report it as such. You Sir/Madam are the most contemptible of all. Till my dying day I will never be able to articulate how despicable and repulsive your selective offerings cancer me)
SEAN SOUTH, if you are the Celtic supporter you would have as all believe, your Sunday paper is a MASSIVE platform for exposure. Can you not use it? Alan Brazil – likewise.
Raise the profile.
Any unilaterally sanctioned extension to our leagues time frame is anathema to the fundamental ethos of impartiality, integrity and the unwritten sporting rule book, we all, as supporters, subscribe to. (even Rangers supporters who would want the league won within the confines of established sporting etiquette and they are many).
Individuals within any club or authority should not be allowed to prostitute the rules and traditions of one of the world’s oldest leagues for self gratification. To do so would deem that individual not worthy of his/her position.
The only way I personally could accept an unprecedented extension to the season would be if a quorum of club chairmen deemed it in the best interests of our domestic league. In doing so I would demand that it could only be carried on a two thirds majority. (and within the confines of the SPL I do have precedence on that count).
A publicly accountable - straight - one club one vote.
And let the two thirds majority carry the day.
But by being public, every supporter, of whichever Scottish team they follow, whether it be Gretna or Kilmarnock, or whichever, they would then have the knowledge to determine where and when they would spend their hard earned pounds in years to come in support of their team in their league.
What may be being debated is morally and ethically disgusting, but to suggest by insinuation we stoically accept it as our lot (all the supporters of Scottish clubs) is repulsively repugnant.
Get of your arse you lazy barsteward and get writing. If you don’t, irrespective of what club you support, then Rangers, if they are granted the unprecedented extension, truly are in a league of their own.
It’ll be nobodies fault but the evil twins – Lethargy and Apathy.
Remind me… who exactly is it that sponsors the SPL?
You have no inherent duty to do anything, however as a Celtic supporter - your paranoia obliges you to at least lose five nights sleep thinking about doing something. You’ll no doubt come up with something that you can cling on to.
If you do nothing to mitigate this potential travesty then you have forfeited the right of future consideration.
-
does that mean that donati will be back against the forces of darkness?
i would prefer Robo in and if things are goin well then donati can come on for half an hour at mordor... he plays better when there is no pressure
time to step up to the plate celtic.
show us that you care as much as we do!
10 till 3!
-
I hope to see Celtic come out of the blocks early today. Let's not have another pedestrian 1st half and nervy 2nd half.
An early goal to settle the nerves will do nicely.
Come on Celtic!
Get intae them. 4-1 to the Bhoys.
Lubo.
-
What does a low attendance do to the financial plans of Gretna's administrator? Will we hear talk next week of a threat to the promise that all fixtures wil be fulfilled?
Anyway that's for next week!
For today we need a good convincing vistory. JVoH and Sami to start and both to score will do nicely.
Who is today's MIB and how many cards will he show?
-
4-1 would annoy me.
I recon we need a clean sheet to give the defence confidence... just as much as it would be great for sami skippy n jan to get a hatrick each!
4-1 or 3-0?
3-0 for me.
9-0 is even better.
i think the chance to beat a team within an inch of thier lives (a-la- dunfermline) is on the cards. We just need to show the world that our players are hurtting and are willing to fight for EVERYTHING!
stand up FOR the champions
AND
CHAMPIONS, STAND UP!
-
Excellent post Kitalba. SEAN SOUTH over to you, time for you to prove your mettle.
rd
-
skippy....
I hear what you say [and hope you are right] but I don't think we will have it all our own way.
Their players are looking for a new club and are playing for their liveliehoods. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain from a good performance today.
The earlier we score the better. If we do we could go on to win by a decent margin.
Lubo.
-
12-0 Hoops Robson- 6 goals, Naylor -4 goals, Samaras 1 goal and Hinkel the first goal scorer.
Mon the Hoops
-
Big Bad John Hartson looks like Mr Freeze from the old Batman TV show. I guess his hair transplant didn't take I wonder if the company he did the advertising for asked for their money back.
-
LUBO - agree with you there. But it simply comes down to who wants what more? do the want to play well and impress other teams, more than we want the league. If so then we will have a very tough game.
and the celtic players should be ashamed of themselves.
bearing in mind that this is a group of players whos minds are not focused on anything but money and thier lively hood... and wouldnt play incase they got injured. So if that is the case im geussing that they aint been doin much in the way of training.
lets see who wants what more.
i pray to god its us!
8-0
-
He's got no hair and we dont care...
-
On the bench:
Brown
O`Dea
Hartley, Sno, Riordan
Samaras, Killen
Hoping for a good start, come on the Celts!
-
Isn't seven players too many to have on the bench, I thought it was five you are allowed?
-
seven subs in the league five subs in the cup isn't it
-
Yes I think you are right
-
ok im geussin the line up is the usual suspects besides donati
holy goalie
hinkel
caldwell
mick
naylor
naka
brown
robson
mcgeady
jan
skippy
lets hope we can take some of the chances that come our way.
on another note...
for next week.
I know WGS wont change anything, he will play us pretty much as we are today with maybe one or 2 personnel changes, but no tactical changes (unless he surprises us AND them).... but
with everyone sticking 3 on aiden, and trying to stop our supply, why not play him in his preffered position?
Aiden has always said he prefers to play in the middle. Put him through the middle to drw thier players narrow, and giving us a REAL attacking threat from the centre of the park, releasing naka and robson to get down the wings and supply the crosses.
That there could be a master stroke. Aidens engine this year has been immense, and he is more than able to run at people, its what he does best.
just a thought.
-
Pastyface - correct.
By process of elimination, that must mean starts for Robson, JVoH and the two Scotts.
-
ps - do any of you guys know if there are radio site that play in media player?
i cant get realplayer on the works comp, and it wont play bbc scotland on anything other than real player
any help would be much appreciated
-
Afternoon all.
Settling down to watch this, hoping for a 5 or 6 goal victory, but wiil take any convincing performance.
This team (bar Robson) owes us a paerformance.
-
0-7 NUFF SAID
-
Hate that away strip - what's wrong with the hoops?
-
Skippy are you in the UK as you can only listening to football on Radio Scotland if you live in the UK. Have you tried downloading realplayer for free?
-
Craig Thomson MIB today has already dished out 3 reds in 13 league games before today.
-
2 mins, still 0-0, come on Celtic.
-
Horrible winters day out there. Hail and sleet alternating, although sun is shining. Pitch looks ok though.
Get the ball down please and play football Celtic.
-
Wes Brown scores for Man Utd
1-0
-
narrow boat - yes on both counts.
the works computers are blocked from downloadin ANYTHING that isnt put on by the system administraters.
And i am in Newcastle (for my sins)
geuss its down to you guys to keep me up to date.
cheers in advance bhoys n ghirls
-
Gretna are up for this. We need to be.
-
Its attack v ten man defence so far. Robson on the ball early on.
-
Is Paul Hartley the new Derek Riordan?
What the hell does he have to do to get a start in this Celtic team?
-
7 minutes gone celtic probing
i reckon we are on for 5-0 plus
pitch is perfect
gretna sitting too deep
-
Reassessed my 0-12 predication, 8 mins gone I think we will win 0-11.
Naka looks good so far. Disappointed with the team WGS has picked.
-
-
First corner comes in 8 mins.
Mick heads over.
-
i wasnt surprised with his selection.
he stated that he is ALWAYS gonna play naka and aiden as they are our best players (or words to that effect) so it was just a case of who was gonna partner brown as he is another that seems to be a certain starter. Maybe if he get booked today we could play someone with balls in the next week.....
mon celtic!
-
Naka defending well !!?
-
Gretna produce,`best move of the game` -Murdo on Radio Scotland. :-(
-
Has Mick just got back from starring in the Phatom of the Opera, when did he injured his heid, I don't remember him cut in the Dons game.
-
best move or best chance?
little perturbed that we aint a goal up yet.
all pressure and no goals... story of our season so far.
mon the hoops!
-
Think Mick just did a 'Robbie Fowler'
-
Liverpool down to 10 men
Mascherano second yellow
-
TNT,
I think it's from his earlier header - chalk (or whatever the white lines are made of!).
-
15 mins. Passing is poor again from Celtic. The Gretna goalkeeper has yet to make a save.
-
not sounding too good so far.
this could be a long 90 mins and we BETTER score at least one more than them.
cricket scores seem a distance off at the moment
-
I don't have a problem with WGS playing Naka and Aiden but how bad does Skoosh have to play before he gets drop, he must have dubious photos of WGS, likewise I am disappointed that Samaras has not started instead of Skippy as Skippy looks a bit jaded.
So far Celtic has yet to test Gretna's Goalie.
-
Anyone got video on C67?
-
Naka finds space inside left but shot deflected for a corner which comes to nothing.
-
This commentator is doing me heid in.
Nakamyoora?
Whoozat?
-
SNORE SNORE SNORE SNORE
BORING BORING
just when are we going to get after teams from the off
more application , greater tempo and some degree of urgency
-
Cracker from McGeady. Good save.
-
Aiden cuts an and shoots for top corner, turned wide by the keeper.
-
21 mins. First chance for Celtic, goalmouth scramble followed by a shot from McGeady, saved.
-
-
19 mins corner...cleared.
Naka at least roaming across the park.
Now free kick, 35 yards out left touchline, Naylor in.
Cleared away after a couple of bagatelle efforts.
McGeady strikes right way...turned over by keeper.
Pressure building.
Corner by naka...headed over by Caldwell.
Slightly better Celtic.
-
Great strike from Aiden from edge of box, good save from keeper
-
u2
was thinking that also
together with tadger Booth it`s a magic double act...NOT
-
I'm hoping that we score while I write this relatively negative post, but I'm very disappointed that the manager hasn't tried something different today. Especially with next week's game in mind. If we put this team and formation out next week, we will lose IMHO.
Hartley, Sno, Samaras and arguably, Bobo should have been on from the start. Glad to see Robson get a start, but that might only be down to Donati supposedly being suspended.
Hope the wee man proves me wrong, but good managers change their teams when they aren't functioning correctly.
TTTT
-
Noticable change in Broony's attitude. No lip to the ref or growling t the guy after fouling.
-
I can't take Radio Scotland anymore. David Begg etc just relying on you guys and the bbc live text.
Alan Green has got me screaming at the radio though with his 'son' comments
-
at least we are MAKING the keeper work.
if we aint shootin there will be no goals! That keeper better come off the park with the sorest hands he has had in his life.
work him. and work him HARD!
-
I hope and pray we get a goal in the first half,if we dont it has all the hall marks of another nail biter today.
-
did the game kick off late? or is it 30 mins in?
-
naylor two crosses in a row
two crosses overhit
what does that guy practice all week
shocking shocking standards
-
Hinkel involved more than usual, starting to settle into the club I hope.
Disappointing lack of communication from the Celtic bench. We are in a fight to the finish here - I would like to see the management team lead that fight from the front.
Shout, encourage, chastise - get animated and drive them on from the touchline Gordon!!!!
The body langauge on the bench reflects our lack of drive and motivation on the park from the first whistle these days.
-
28 mins. Free kick from Naka, saved easily.
-
Naka 30ayrd free kick easily saved.
-
We better start better than this next week this is worse than Aberdeen, I hope WGS does not wait as long to make changes.
Naylor should of shot with a nice passing play with Aiden
-
30 mins. Really poor performance from Celtic so far, everything that has been bad in recent weeks on show.
A shot from outside the box from Aiden and free kick from Naka, neither of whom worried a goalkeeper who has never kept a clean sheet in his career.
-
Half an hour gone.
This is not a good performance so far.
-
I can't understand why we are sticking to a 4-4-2 when they have 10 men behind the ball?
We are not making anywhere near enough chances.
Lubo.
-
They have just created the best opening of the game.
-
this is gonna be a long day.....
-
32 mins. chance for Gretna clocked inside 6 yard box by McManus.
-
This team doesn't look like it has goals in it.
Not for us anyway.
Poor, poor first half hour.
Are we in a Championship race???
-
Strachan giving out to Skippy
"Tidy your game up."......???
-
The manager had a real go at Scott MacDonald there - telling him to tidy his game up.
Good to see - he needs to get more out of the players.
-
Come on the Hoops. WGS clearly heard telling Skippy to tidy his game up. I think he needs to be telling that to the other outfield 9 also. Except Naka and McGeady.
-
Is the last man in Glasgow to notice Scott McDonald has run himself into the ground this season picking the Celtic team?
-
Brown booked
-
mcdonalds touch is still awol
samaras already looks likely
scott brown booked
out for ipox?
-
Scott Brown booked for lunging into a tackle. No worse that at least 4 others in the game.
-
This doesnt look like a team that will beat hun 3 times.Gretna growing in confidence.BROWN BOOKED!!
-
Gretna player is taking a throw in and a Celtic fan wanders down and offers him money. Absolute class. Unlike our performance.
-
Brown booked - 3 match ban starting in two weeks - not a bad thing
-
Sir Paul
I see a goal for Celtic Coming... followed by flood.
Na! This is no a weather forecast!
I thought I would never say this, pal...
But, it is a pity that Mon was so intransient, and he did not allow Sean to leave in Jan.
We need someone like Sean.....
There I said it!...
Nevah thought I would.
Kojo.
-
Looks like the 10 games to win the league mantra hasn't made its way to the dressing room yet.
-
Sammy warming up. G'Day Skippy?
-
I'm not a fan of early substitutions but this game cries out for a change at HT.
Sami on for Skippy for me.
Scott Brown is available next week but will miss the (first) Parkhead game in April.
-
Shockerooney that Brown gets booked, why does every Tim in Timdom knew that was going to happen, suspension does not happen till the game after the huns
-
Quentin that is hilarious.
though never thought policemen 'offering' miners money was funny
-
no bad thing if brown misses the game IMHO
10till3CSC!
-
Too much down the right for my liking. Why is the POTY incumbent getting so little of the ball?
-
yes. skippy.
-
1 - 0.
Long ball, JVoH header on and Skippy finishes.
-
Why oh why oh why doesn't anyone shoot from outside the area. Its glaringly obvious.
-
goal ...skippy
phewwwwwwwwwww
-
41 mins. Goal for Celtic; McDonald.
Long ball from Boruc, nod on from Vennegoor, finish inside the box by McDonald.
-
Skippy scores from long punt by Boruc, maybe the Holy Goalie should play in midfield
-
At last someone realises that you sometimes have to vary all this tippy tappy nonsense!!!! Well done Artur!!!
-
But I'd still take Skippy off at HT. He's knackered.
-
Skippy needed that....by God, so did we!
Hope this lifts their overall performance and confidence levels.
TTTT
-
a classic goal would make Hartson proud.
Skip obviously need to see Sammy warming up to 'tidy' up his game
-
