Champions to the end

Celtic needed to dig deep to win last night. After playing so well and losing their lead, and missing that penalty, lesser teams would have buckled.

Rangers are finding that winning the league is not easy. Ten days ago they held a 12 point advantage; since then they have collected only one from six points.

For me, the next games cannot come quickly enought.

What a coincidence is that, I told you we had one of the Oakwell Brewery Pubs in Warwick and you have one in Carlisle on Warwick Road, Spooky Tooth or what (get the Cumbria connection). They will only have two beers and two lagers on tap. The Barnsley Bitter and the Old Tom Mild are both excellent, should cost £1.55 and £1.45, they just put their prices up thanks to Mr Darling. The Lagers are decent too.

Hopefully the landlord keeps a good cellar.

    BBC website reports:

    "McGregor and McCulloch doubtful"

    Well, I knew that.
Oh, I see- doubtful for the next two matches at least.
McCulloch has a "major ankle injury".
Perhaps DBBIA can enlighten us as to what this could be.
However, McGregor only went over on his ankle. In other words, he will be in goals
    next time we face them.

Did anyone see Patrick barclay on Setanta? He and another gut were discussing a book about football rivalries and Barclay, when talking of Celtic and Rangers, said somethinh like: This rivalry is based on rank bigotry....from one side anyway. He wasn`t asked "Which side?" nor did he enlarge which is a real shame as it was obvious he did not mean us.
I am going to visit BB`s on Saturday. Are the CNQ ers obvious and what time do you leav for the game?

Bring on saturday our self respect is coming back.

Shame on anyone who left early last night missed one of the greatest feelings in life scoring against that scum.

Edward how can you defend that support. Sectarian bile non stop have you not got a football song?

Nacho novo is hunnism personified, coming from a catholic country does he not know what that scum think of his religion?

Next game Robson first tackle on the wee naff twenty feet in the air.

Now for the huns humped in europe.

The game is on polsat so a few places in Poland may show it, and Lublin isn't hugely far from Warszawa. Zbyszek may be able to help you better there though.

As for Lviv, I will ask my Ukranian friend if he lives near there and if so where you might catch the game. Ukranian TV no longer covers live SPL games though.

It's a funny old game isn't it? Remember what it was like early in January when we were being linked with Robson for the first time? It was a cardinal sin for Gordon to even consider him and some considered it a sackable offense if I remember rightly and Paul seemed to suggest that it was a ridiculous rumour. Fast forward three months and our manager receives dogs abuse for subbing him correctly! Football is such a fickle game :-P

Nakamura was sensational last night the man is just a genius. His pass early on for Jan was beautiful and if he controlled it I think it would have been a goal. After Naka scored he seemed to get a lot of confidence and the Ranger's players were struggling to get the ball off him.

To be honest I don't think anyone deserves to be criticized today. The strikers struggled but that is expected when you play against Rangers, they play deep and narrow and close the space well. There isn't much room for the strikers to maneuver so we need to rely on good support from the mid fielders which we got. Wilson was caught out of position for the goal which is not surprising considering his lack of match practice but I felt he played well overall.

I can only remember Boruc making one save in the last two games in contrast to McGregor who has made a number of impressive saves.

I think we're back in it and with a bit of luck we can still win this league.

That wonderful CL support that the TEAM received last night face a major challenge on Saturday.

After the exhilaration of their merited victory the Champions will return to duty against Aberdeen and whilst it would be almost impossible for the CP crowd not to be up for a game against their traditional rivals they often find it difficult to raise themselves to the heights needed to be their team's 12th man.

Will they be up for it when it may matter more? Will the TEAM have a concerted, united, unreserved, unequivocal support behind it or will they return to type?

For me at this time neither tactics formations players nor the management team can affect performance in the way that our support can. Lets hope its there again on Saturday.

For the moment I'm simply pleased to say that we still have a championship to play for and regardless of the conclusion we have already put a marker down for next season with the blowing away of Mr Smith's indian sign over our manager.

Oh and by the way thank you Nakamura San for responding to my plea for more shots from outside the area.

Can we imagine the press reaction if it was people of African descent that their venom was directed against, rather than those of Irish descent?

Can we even begin to imagine the totally-justified furore if a group - and a substantial group - of Man U or Chelsea fans was caught on video singing "why don't you go home" to black people?

    Well fashion lovers, it's official.

Wonder when the spl is going to address the oustanding fixtures? The closer the league gets the more difficult it makes it. Great isn't it?

Now two more wins will take us to the top of the league and really put the pressure on.

I still think we are heavy underdogs, but maybe a change in fortunes is comning. Just like last night, to win at the very end would be so sweet.

A wee Tim brought up to Fraser Wishart on Radio Snide the banner in Lisbon about Naka as Wishart is involved "show Racism a Red Card" and he should do something about it. Wishart just said report it to that group. Then a hun came on later and said that the banner is just a bit of banter. Later Wishart said to Martin/McGuire or whatever he calls himself that the Celtic fan only raised the issue to have a we dig at him. So I gather he does not plan to do anything about it. No change there.

    My dear friend, Bhoy Sean...@17.42.

There was one guy..well, some say he might not quite be described as such....who, was the foist to mention Mr.Strachan's interest...in ...
    The Dundee Baritone.

My furry companion, had been informed of Celtic's interest...very early on... and he and I were most pleased in the possibility that The Dundee Baritone ,was a possible Celtic Target.

We had watched Barry, and had decided that he was exactly the type of guy that we would like to have in our corner,in a knock down... bring yer knuckle-duster..Old Fashioned... S.P.L. typical Celtic versus the G.A. incendiary conflagration.

At the time...and I still harbour these same sentiments.....

I am in Favour of generously PEPPERING Our Team.. with former S.P.L. players.

The Elan and the Savoir Faire of the Smooth Continental bred player... is fine and dandy to have at your disposal... in the heady and sophisticated atmosphere... that is present in a clash between us and European opposition...

    Howevaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.....

In the Bread and Jam ...Blood and Mucous...in the Burly and the Hurly of a typical S.P.L. contest....

    Fugggggggggggetttttttttaboooooutit!

For that type of game...we need...
    well...
    S.P.L.ers!

Barry and to a certain extent...
Mr.Caldwell ...whom I am a firm and ardent BACKER...and have been for some time...Mr.Hartley, and Mr.Wilson... showed that very quality... in our recent thrashing of our hated rivals....

    Yes, Virginia...

There is a place for non-sophistication in our lockers...after all!

I welcome, the recent interest that the Pierre and Company have been showing by their looking into other raids, in the Larders of our S.P.L Provincials Sporting Rivals.

I hope to see at least one of the following...maybe all THREE...at Celtic Park, next season...

    The Jam Town Farmer's Son...
The Two erudite Scholars from the Dukedom...Known as the Two MACs.

What we have been lacking the past season...has been... Spirit...and Guts....

I have the sneaking suspicion that we have found it again...

Last Night's game... showed that we have at last found the Key ..the Rosetta Stone... that will un-lock the puzzling enigma of the Mr.Smith inspired....

TEN MEN BEHIND THE BA'.. and HIT OAN THE BREAK ...insolvable puzzle.

    It is Called simply....

SPIRIT... TEAM SPIRIT...Pride of Club... Pride of Tradition...

This simple solution had been staring us in the face...but somehow it had been over-looked..

We have been to much caught up in TACTICS!

    TACTICS? ... SMACKTICS!

Our players have been Playing like a Bunch of ZOMBIES...on DEMEROL!

My advice,to our Bhoys, before a game...would never vary

" Go out there, guys and do our Fans Proud...and....

GET STUCK IN TAE THEM... ANd TAKE NAE PRISONERS !"

That would be my sole instructions...
    Tactics?

    Balder...and Dash!

Evening all still got a sore throat from the game.

On the potatoe being on the pitch I think you will find that Spanish Ned kicked it on. I noticed him trying to put Barry off at a corner with doing all the arm waving etc. I then saw him kick something and then the linesman lift it off the pitch.

If anyone has it taped its when we got the 4 corners in a row.

Clique number 1967 will hopefully be in BBs on Saturday.

You often get a few of them in for the Celtic V Rangers games as it's usually one of the few places that shows the games. They are all squaddies based down here. They're not aggressive in any way but they do indulge in some questionable songs but It's good to have them in though as it improves the atmosphere a lot. It was bouncing at the end and they looked miserable

I'm studying here at Bath Spa University but I've actually been down in England for a few years now though as I moved to Portsmouth from Clydebank when I was about 14.

I don't get down to Flans a lot as I'm often working but I normally make the bigger games. If you are ever in and see a 21 year old with rubbish hair feel free to say hello.

after leaving just after the final whistle. i left my village to go to SHITBURN.

Just back in real life after a lurk on Follow Follow.

Before I nip off for a shower, mes amis, I can report that confidence on the Darkside remains high, although they seem to be worrying more about the potential loss of McGregor than about McElbows.

Noticed some ribald hilarity concerning Nacho novo's Media conference today, posted on the BBC here:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/7353277.stm.

I can't do the link thingy, but it's three mins in.

He says he had Aiden 'in my pocket'.

Pressed on the point, to sycophantic laughter from the gathered neutrals he retreated somewhat, but, nevertheless, I think someone at CP ought to be copying this and circulating it among the lhads for next Sunday.

I'd get it on a continuous loop on young Master McG's i pod.

If the sound of that wee dirty, cheating, rabble rousing charlatan, claiming to have our REAL poty in his pocket doesn't inspire a roasting of somone in blue next Sunday, I'm a Dutchman

And no, thanks for the offer Ranger's 'best Fans' (copyright wee Ignatius), I'll hang on here, if it's all the same to you, famine over or no.

    Kojo,

Thank you for your very kind words.

My love of Celtic, the club, the team and the support stands almost on a level with my love for my late wife, newish wife, my sons, and their wives and of course my grandchildren.

Along with this is my love for my beliefs, they all help keep me on a sure and strong path.

All the above three are the great constants in my life.

Last night I stood looking out over the field of dreams and thought to myself that I was such a lucky person.

I had my two sons by my side and some 50,000 other brothers sharing a great experience with me.

After the game I spoke to Winningemmell and tried to speak to E D B, two extra special brothers.

    Kojo,

This one is for the 'Nolast10minutesformethankyouverymuch'ers'.

    picture the scene.

Celtic Park @ around 9:30'ish give or take a minute, we rose as one to our feet as we wathced a sublime lofted pass from Mr Gary (I was outstanding last night) Caldwell slowly but surely land pointblank on the forehead of Mr Scott (I missed a penalty but I'm alright now McDonald) as, whitacanygetit fails to intercept and the ball is nodded back across goal towards the outstreched neck of Mr Salt and Vinigar of Castlemilk who popped a magnificent 2nd goal into the net. Now picture a dancing, shouting, singing, jumping, hugging, delerious, joyfull, ecstatic support motioning as one beatiful animal feeding on our glory. Looking east the neanderthal falls to it's knees in desperation. Well multiply that by 1000 and you might get close to the feeling we felt last night.

Now picture this. There you were happily driving along the empty roads so exstatically happy in yourselves that you once again managed to get away before the crowd. Sitting in 5th gear listening to the self proclaimed comedians and their Gorybell when it is announced that the day has been saved and you hear us celebrate.

    You must be so proud.

Take him out of the proceedings last night and we'd have won by 3 or more goals. Luckily there were enogh guys in our side who wanted it as much as h did.

fan-a-tic, I am not having a go at people who leave early but I do not understand it personally. Beat the traffic? Why? I imagine that nobody has arranged another pressing engagement( wedding? job interview? Desparate Housewives?) that starts so soon after the game ends that time is so tight.Leaving early is just for their own convenience. That is their right. iF Beating the traffic is more important than seeing Celtic beating Rangers in thelast minute .... or Shaktar, or AC Milan...maybe they think it's never going to happen...but that's a good few times this season we've won it at the death so the odds on it are good (and, anyway faithful through and through!)

One of the great things for me about those occasions is the absolute euphoria and the expression given to that by the fans as they leave.. the singing, the dancing...okay, no dancing, not on those stairwells. As I say, I do not condemn, well, only a wee bit, but I do not understand. Would you tear out the last page of a riveting book before you finish reading it? Would you walk out of a great film before it ends? Obviously I do not count the old peculiar circumstances when you'd come in to a film half way through then watch it on the repeat until it got to where you came in. A lot of posters on here are old enough to remember that nonsense, I'm sure

Look, it was only one game. Let's not get carried away.

Yes, Shunsuke showed (again) that he can play against Rangers. He was better at Ibrox, but hey, a goal and a half and half a goal makes up for that.

Okay, Gary did well in a Beckenbauerish sort of a way, but he still made those mistakes earlier in his Celtic career and it's a stick on that we'll lose more goals in the future while he's in defence.

It's tough being a Celtic centre back. Even tougher playing against one like Gary. Or Stephen.

And Aiden. Well, what a waste of space he was last night, somebody watching it on telly told me. And somebody sitting beside me at Celtic Park. I disagree. The space around Aiden last night was the most used, indeed overcrowded, space on the pitch. Nearly as bad as the huddle round the half time pies in the 67 Club. I worry about Aiden coming out in a rash, he was so close to so many blue jerseys for so long last night.

You know, I've seen the fancy dancers. The ones with the outrageous talent honed by years of being a big fish in a wee puddle. One dunt by the big boys and the head goes down. Another and it's everybody else's fault. The braver ones take a third before they disappear, but disappear they do.

Aiden did not have his most productive night delivery wise, but he worked his socks off from start to finish, his head never went down, and he tied at least two of them up for most of the night. Hide and Seek is not in his toy cupboard. We have to learn better how to exploit those performances from Aiden. We will.

But still, it was only one game, and we could have lost it.

Did you see Walter early on, just after Shunske scored and we got another corner almost immediately? His arms were folded around himself so tightly that I worried for the back seam of his no doubt exensive suit jacket. And I thought of the comment on here a while ago that Walter was "laughing up his sleeve" at Gordon and his tactics. In that moment Walter looked like a man who knew he had been sussed, and the sleeves were tighly shut.

About Gordon's tactics. How could he possibly take off our MOM Barry Robson? Anothder idiotic decision from our manager, it was obvious that McDonald should have gone.

Except. Paul Hartley did the midfield defensive role to support three up impeccably. And the three up won the game for us. But then, what do I know about tactics? Maybe we just got lucky. (Ya beauty, at last!!!!)

But hey, it's only one game, and we'll probably still lose the league. A battle lost. Maybe. The war goes on....

Only one game. Like Paul, the next one cannot come quickly enough for me. As for next season, and our continuing improvement....

    PS

To the guy who said at half time last night "a good Celtic team would be four up against this mob" - balderdash sir, utter balderdash. You know nothing about the history of these games if you believe that you were watching a not good Celtic side last night, and you would have been well advised to give your ticket to my nephew, who was desperate to see the game but missed out. In fact, you could redeem yourself by giving him your ticket for the next one, if you've got one.

These differences do not make us better or worse Celtic supporters.

I stated how ironic it was that a Celtic supporter who disagreed with fellow fans and told them to get a season ticket to ibrox told me he was a better Celtic supporter than I.
Your constant digs at fellow supporters does seem to suggest that you really believe this.Fair play to you if this is true but today is a day for celebration there is no need to have a go at fellow fans.

I thought the same pastyface but I think this one has come from the other side. O'Leary was heavily tipped during the chase for MON. However the Daily Mail are running with a story about benfica approaching Celtic for Gordon and possibly paying us compensation for the privelege. Perhaps both stories are Dermot Desmond runners (Is Donald Sutherland modelled on him in Dirty sexy money btw). Strange, something afoot.
the daily Mail did run an exclusive the other day that Rangers were still thinking about asking for an extension and the story was favourably slanted to what the spokeshun had to say. Am I alone in being suspicious about the media hanging on to this story a la MON in the black Sunday season?
Question is how do we spin it back to them...

    Excerpt from the Canal News

"People were astounded to hear claims from the narrowbhoattim that his clearly drunken tumble into the canal was actually a deliberate act on his party after hearing that spendaholic David O'Leary had been appointed manager of Glasgow Celtic. Observers were quick to point out that Celtic have Peter Lawwell as CEO (who hopefully reads this newspaper!!!!)
and he would never countenance such profligate behaviour by a Celtic manager. Other narrowboatere think that Tim should just 'fess up like they have had to do when caught. However, they did add but like the Barnsley we're not bitter.

Great result and performance the other night. well done all the players and "The manager".

Just wanted to put this observation to the blog. Did u know that if we win our next 3 games we will be 8 points clear of the darkside with them having 4 games in hand.

if we win our next 3 games against aberdeen, them and motherwell(may 3) (they dont play in the spl until may 4 after playing us again) we really can put the pressure on them.

They will then have to play hibs away (possible points lost). Motherwell at home (maybe a draw). Home to D UTD(Possible loss). Then Aberdeen away(possible points dropped). And they still have the other 2 oustanding matches to play.

Time to put the pressure on, 3 in a row, keep the faith.

Just watched a replay of the second half on Celtic TV:-)

It's amazing what a second take can do for perspective.

Until we scored, the final 15/20 minutes were probably the most frustrating minutes of my life. I was pulling out my hair and almost on the verge of tears.

Watching the replay I thought we weren't that bad, although I would have preferred to see more balls going in to the box against an untested keeper.

During the first 10/15 minutes of the game I was struck by how a good few Hun players looked liked rabbits in the headlights a totally overawed by the atmosphere.

On reflection that is hardly surprising given it was the first time Broadfoot, Whittiker, Culliar, Davis, Dailly, McCullough, Darchville and Cousin has played against us a Celtic Park.

In a way the aforementioned motley crew have had a gentle introduction to these games in that they've played two consecutive games against us in front of the Hun hoardes.

While one game doesn't make them seasones campaigners, the game next Sunday will not hold as much apprehension.

However, having said all that, I think last night wa beneficial for a good few of our players in showing them what is expected of a Celtic player.

Home derby debuts were made by McDonald, Hinkel, Samaras, Robson and Hartley(?).

It is also worth remembering this is the firat time the rest of the team has had to perform in front of the home support while trailing Rangers in the league.

I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say here, but I think last night will have shown a good few players how important these games are and what it means to play for Celtic.

over the last few years he always leaves on the 88th minute to beat the crowd and get to the pub. he missed big jans goal the other night even although he hung on to the 90th minute
is HE LESS OF A FAN. dont think so
i'm with you this a day of celebration

    My dear,dear,dear friend Pastyface..

The expected departure of our very astute manager, has been greatly exaggerated.

I have not the slightest doubt that the Great Gordon, will not be ensconced in his usual office... come the season to come.

Our troubles were never Managerial or brought about by Tactical inadequacy.....

    The reason was...

    All together,now.....

"IT WAS THE ALL DOWN TO THE GLARING INADEQUACY OF SPIRIT... THAT WAS BEING EXHIBITED BY THE CELTIC PLAYERS!"

In the vernacular....which I always find is more to the point.

"Nae Hert,at awe,at awe! They wur playin' like a bunch o' Butterflies!"

People I remember from the Port are, as you would expect, from school or football. I used to play for a youth team in the 70s called St Columba's (nothing to do with the school) We played in the hoops and when we played Port Glasgow Rangers at Parklea...well you can imagine!

taken for Carrickstone Celt on Kerrydale street. He is a junior member and I dont know where Carrickstone is so donet knwo how much is true but here goes for a flyer.

Just back in from a Q&A evening with the guest of honour, The Sharp Suited Man.

A few topics that were raised and a couple of exclusives

New europe wide scouting network to be put in place... Does not include Dr Jo or Lubo - Neither are on the books
Commitment to reinvesting all income on the team
Season book prices to be frozen next year with new scheme for kids under 10 costing £50
Targets in place for next year. Priorities are FB, CB, CM and "quality" strikerG
Still looking at England avenue...looking closely at Cardiff situation and EPL 39th game as
Backing the manager ( as you would expect)
Aware of the apathy of the fans and some of the reasons... partly linked to SPL dross and competition.
Anti Celtic bias in press.. spoke about the Carson/UEFA investigation...
    Riodarn situation -purely 100% football
Sponsorships difficult to break old firm dual deals but preference would be to go it alone.
Desmond doesnt want to sell us and remains an emotional investment, SSM met John Fisher (GAP) today loves our story.

Key message from him.... Stick with us

The Re-Irishing Of Celtic By The Anti-Irish *

    * post-seven pints of Everard's Sunchaser

About a year ago I wrote about the neo-Scottishising of Rangers and the proto-Scottishising of Celtic on the road to Seville. I stated clearly back then that I felt the former was a re-claiming of the turf in the aftermath of the pro-England/Britain(Souness internationalist era of the 80s/Scottish international team's perennial misery) and that the latter was a bandwagon-jumping exercise to garner some succour in the event of Celtic lifting the UEFA Cup.

I also stated quite clearly that I am very much FOR the Scottish dimension of Celtic; that we would not be truly Celtic without it and mentioned South Uist, Barra etc. I spent my teenage years with ghuys from the islands and Mallaig, Ballachulish, Inverness etc. Celtic remains as much theirs as mine, maybe moreso. Being born in Lanarkshire, with the wealth of Celtic (FC) heritage on our doorstep I've not been hard pressed. Being fifteen minutes (and less miles) from G40 I'm envied by many reading here. In truth I'm the one who respects and admires them.

The saltires seemed to arrive en route to Seville. I had and have no problem with the flag of St Andrew. Andrew had great faith (too few loaves and fishes but what the hell?) and that's part of what supporting our team demands.

A few years later and I feel times have changed again. It's an old gripe but one I am rock solid on. The Scottish football hierarchy is loaded on every corner with men who are anti-Celtic (FC) and who will do their utmost to thwart our ambition. This season (no matter how it ends - and I will NEVER give in) we have witnessed near-incredible partisanship in favour of Rangers. The SFA and SPL have allowed them unprecedented (though my dad/Martin42/Tully57 may correct me) latitude in complete inproportion to that club's commitment to the Scottish international team. Our bhoys stood up for Scotland (some were forced to STAND DOWN FFS)and took the blows and strains whilst others lapped Murray Park to keep in trim for domestic club duty. It was ever thus.

They hate us and want us to go back home. When Souness arrived in G51 he started strategically withdrawing players from the Scotland squads (club over country in a nutshell - Rangers IS the country to them). Back then I trawled through the Wee Red Book and Celtic were already ahead in the amount of Scottish international caps earned (despite the ignominious disrespect shown to our LEGENDS throughout generations). We must be HUNDREDS ahead by now.

But now - a sea change.

    We're Irish again.

They have their men where they want/need them and they're pointing us in the direction of the ghetto again. The Scots-Ulster-Scots are to the fore and the famine is over - get back where you belong and take McGeady and your rosary beads with you. The saltire is back at Ibrox and there was a big one in the front of their hordes last night. They are as welcome to it as the bhoys from Roybridge, it's a flag for goodness sake. But it is one of convenience for them and they will take or leave it as the situation demands.

Meanwhile the potatoes rain down. The 'people' who despise the Irish, who ask in what part of Ireland Glasgow is, are throwing Irishness at us. We are aliens under the Heillanman's Umbrella (stRangers in a strange land)when it suits them.

I am totally comfortable in my heritage and will not be badged by them or anyone else but they are trying to marginalise us and minority us (this will bring fans of the other clubs on board, as if they need any encouragement).

The recent media insults are just part of the general campaign.

I care not for the SFA or the Scottish national team (my reasons have been done to death over the last couple of years) but these entities are being used as instruments against us. The Scottish football authorities have been working a pro-Rangers agenda all season and we're back to the Days when we were known as The Irishmen. They could not call us anything finer but I know they are trying to further ostracise us - and then they will say it's our fault.

    ERIN GO BRAGH.

So, it's back to my "Local," CQN. Aye, it's good to see the usual crowd in here tonight !!!???. Oh, I see what's-'is-name is talking his' usual mince and so's his mate. Hope the Old fella does sensible thing !!! It's also good to "see" that our absent friends thought are being discussed as well. Where would we get our nocturnal readings from if they weren't "here" ???

Gawd I love listening to this Ghuy, what he doesn't know about The Celts ain't worth knowing, g;ad he is always around when you need something clarified. Oh, and there's Mr Fence-sitter. Still giving it to both sides as he can't bare the thought of backing the wrong side. Try making your own mind up Buddy.

And where would we be without the usual Jokers ??? What a dull place this would be without these Ghuys and their ability to give us all a wee lift when we most need it ? Keep up up Ghuys, for all our sanity.

I sse a sight that I look forward to the most. The Barman. Always ready, always willing and always there. Win, Lose or draw, there he is, offering words of wisdom and sometimes, the best verbal soothing that I know of. Come to think of it, if he hadn't decided to open this place Gawd-Knows where I'd be. Cheers Big Mhan.

Not as many of the Ladhies in here that I'd like to see though ! I wonder if thy even know this place exists, 'cos I know some of them know their Footy. I sat behind this Lhass last night and she was giving it everything. Her football knowledge was on a par with any Bhoy that I know of. Bet she'd love it in here. Perhaps there are more than I am aware of. Perhaps there are a good few that are sitting quietly minding their own business safe in the knowledge that they know they "know" more that we Ghuys would give them credit for ?? How's about ya Ghals ?

Good to see the "Aul Hauns" sitting at their usual table. The stories that table could tell eh ? Stuck in the past ? I don't think so. Have you seen them defend our manager recently ? I suppose they've been around long enough to recognise the good times when they see them, unlike some. Me, I'm no "Aul Han", but I know a good thing when I see it and those amongst us who lived through their NIAR can bare testament to that. I suppose we all have our "Dark" times as being a Tim. That was mine.

I often wonder how many Fhans just stand outside here and stare in the windows. What would posses them to consider that their prescience in here would be anything less than welcoming ? If it looks as good from the outside as it is in the inside, then what are you waiting for ? I'm sure our barman will be more than willing to treat you as his guest. One thing though, this ain't a two-bit-Gin-house". There's only one rule around here folks and it's talk in here like you would to yer auld ma.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I've not been able to get here as often as I would like. Such is life, but the one thing that I do know is that when I eventually do manage to get here, the one constant remains. I'll still be amongst friends. I'll still be able to talk about The 'Tic until I'm Green in the face :o))) And I'll still be able to talk about anything that takes my fancy. It may be commented on by someone, it may not. TBH, I'm always surprised that anyone would want to listen to my ramblings anyway !!!!

Can't wait for the weekend when I might just get the chance to spin myself a few discs on the Host's jukebox :o)))

Mien Host, a pint of your best my good Mhan. "Awright ma friend ? Whit aboot that last night ............................."

How reliable do we find the Moises Hurtado rumour? The fact that he's a defensive midfielder is an interesting one. Hartley has been doing a grand gob at it lately but I think we could do with someone natural in that position and a bit younger also. We could still do with getting more goals from the centre of midfield but maybe Robson can bring that and I still have confidence that Brown will develop into a fine player who will get goals.

I hope that's true about the kids ticket prices being £50, I could afford to buy the young bhoy a ticket as well.

Just a question for the BB regulars, I know that BBs is child friendly but do they do meals and is it easy to get to by car? I'll be taking the bhoys up as usual and I was thinking of taking them in and hopefully get them their dinner (it would make a welcome change from KFC!). I'm driving so off the beer but would still like to pop in and see what the fuss is about! :)

Thanks in advance for any advice, it's just so I can arrange babysitting as I'd leave a good bit earlier than usual if I'm visiting BBs!

3 in a row is just 5 games away! HAIL HAIL

I've been thinking (I do sometimes): Aidan and Naka get the ball in 2 areas largely - one, around thirty-20 yrds out, usually on the wing. From here they can and do cause damage - two, 10/20 yards inside our own half - from here (given that we usually play teams who defend deep) they can do little. In Nakas case in particular he is apt to be harried off the ball in this position. We need to start maximising these, our best players, and this means ensuring they receive the ball in positions they can cause most damage. Luckily in both cases this means practically anywhere across the breadth of the park from 35 yards out. The key then is for the rest of the team to offer options and make runs to create space. So....

More than 24 hours have passed now since the fat lady was put away for another wee while. Hopefully by end of season she will return clad in green/white/gold. I witnessed it live. The drobber wet it a little afterwards and peckhams in the merchant city helped me drown my happiness on returning home. By the way, to all you bhoys looking for an ofsales after 10pm then Peckhams in MC is open to midnight everynight seeling the finest beers and wines. Switched on Setanta2 and re-ran the whole experience again. Naka's goal was even better having seen the flight of the ball. Watch every segment of TV (nacho horrible is a...) and caught as many replays of goals as possible. Have now just watched STV and it really was that good.

You thru me with the "Priorities are FB, CB, CM and "quality" strikerG" comment. there was I sitting thinking to myself who's initial start FB, or CB or CM and who is a qulity striker with G as an initial. G also must be especially good as he only needs one inital. then it hit me. Full Back, Centre Back, Center Mid and a striker. my brain has been seriusly pickled in the last 24 hours.

Watching last nights game again as we speak. Always nice to get a sober perspective.
Last nights winner, apart from provoking the usual delirium from all around me in 137 (except for the two guys either side of me who left at 75 mins), also came at that point where the bigoted ones were indulging in their wee bouncy song. To see that particular ditty silenced like that just added to the moment.
As for that wee @hole Novo, he was making the "in my pocket" gestures from about the hour mark onwards, continually towards the Bhoys seated in the front main stand. He really is a horrible wee creature. Even Mother Theresa hated him.

Great performance by all and lets now carry it on to Saturday. Time to take four or five off Aberdeen again and send out a message that nothing is decided. With big Ugly Betty and McGregor missing, they will not relish coming back to us again.

As for Naka last night, stunning first goal and would have been a stunning second but for the hand ball.

Only gripes I had about last night....
Thought big Mick could have come over and closed Novo down at their goal and... what was going on pre penalty. At least Skippy finally had the cajones to take it.

    Onward and upward Celtic.
Hammer Aberdeen, hump them again a week on Sunday and let's see if they can handle the pressure.

    Hail Hail.

Parking, I'm not sure about though like any other city, you'll be able to park nearby so long as you leave your whole life savings with the surly older gentleman at the entrance who is definitely not going to look after your car. You then have, of course, the problem of arriving later at the Park than normal so finding parking difficult there. It would be good to meet you though. I'll tell you this though...............!

Gordon Strachan, as a football player with AFC. Couldn't stand the wee nyaff. I understood the fhan's recation to want to clobber the wee guy, but I couldn't and wouldn't condone it.

GS as a Scotland player. Hat's off, end of. Epitomised everything I wanted and expected from anybody who pulled on the dark blue. How times have changed huh ????(Scotland-wise that is)

    Gs the manager.........!

Two titles, two cups, two "last 16's", his love for his "Job" Could this be the key word ? Various quotes about loving making the fhans happy, about winning things, about being here for the long-haul. What's not to like ???

A coupla things actually. His objuracy in sticking with a team that was deemed to be weaker than was available and count me in with that train of thought. Haven't we just seen what can be achieved by the players that many of us have been advocating ?

This Mhan is a winner. If you doubt this, just take a wee peek in to his Trophy cabinet. This Ghuy knows how to win. His understanding of what it takes to be a modern-day footballer was years ahead of the vast majority who commented on and indeed, where still involved,in the game, identified him as someone very special.

But............... His single-mindeness can be so frustrating and his percieved, by some, unwillingness to play the best players available to him will be his undoing.

I firmly believe that Gordon will never forget his time as Celtic's manager...........I know, stupid thing to say, but what I mean is, he probably came here thinking he understood what Celtic where "all about !!!" What he most definately didn't know was how much we are despised by a vast majority of Scottish people. What he could never have anticipated was the level that those who despise us would sink to.

He will probaly lead a sadder life knowing how deep the sectarian and religous hatred festers in our society. I will make an assumption here, I believe that Gordon was aware, but never truelyy understood the hatred that is directed towards us on a daily basis. This conjecture is based on the assumption that Gordon was brought up in Eddinburgh and played most of his Scottish footbal in the East/North East of Scotland.

What I'm trying to say here is, having listened to his interview to chick dung, I really believe that Gordon loves his job and most definatley loves celtic. The choice of the small "c" is intentional. Those of us who visit here have an irational love of CELTIC. Our choices are not so varied !!!???

Will we win the league, who knows ? Will I still be a Celtic "Supporter" ? You betcha. Can I be bothered checking typos or spelling mistakes......................... Naw !!! ;o)

GL2 - the massive difference between WGS and the Cardigan is that Wattie is a percentage manager and never takes big risks.

The gamble to take off Robson was one I had to explain to a couple of guys sitting next to me last night, who went radio rental at the substitution. That was after I tried to justify it to myself!

I previously posted that the wee man could become a modern Hoops legend if he somehow manages to pull this one out of the fire, but a lot of the fans would still say cheerio.
From our position of strength last summer, we should never have been in the position we were with penalties to get past Spartak in the CL qualifier and we should not be in the position we are now, i.e. still need a snooker or two for the league.
That has placed doubts against the manager and the board that weren't there before.
Right now, I'm only thinking about Skippy (or SAMi) shooting down the helicopter and an unlikely TIAR.
After that, as Paul stated before, we can decide about our future management in the summer.

GL2 and Cadizzy, thank lads for the advice. I'll bring them up early so if needs be I'll head off early and get them their usual junk!

GL2, I found your wee spat with Export Tim interesting about the Greenock CSC. It does seem bizarre that females could not be members in this day in age. I remember another rule when I was younger about under 16s not being allowed to travel up on the bus to Rangers games. I once got told with 5 minutes nefore the buses were to leave that i wasn't allowed on and having to run round to the ICC in Jamaica St to get up! You must know my Granda, he has just lost his long held position as an office bearer at the AGM. I can't say I'm unhappy as it really was a strain on him around the time of the AGM and at his age he should be free of that hassle. I hope the Club continues to do well under the new mans patronage.

Cadizzy, it would be good to meet you. I'll ask my dad who the guy was that took the football. There's an outside chance he'll be coming up as well on Saturday. I'm sure the stovies won't be a bother for the bhoys, they would eat anything and as for the surly guy, I pay some junkie every game to 'watch' the car so it sounds like an improvement! Hope to see you on Saturday.

TTTT as you know I find it hard to believe that anyone would want rid of a manager who has brought 2 in a row and 2 last 16s. Someone actually said today that we should not deal in facts (or stats) when looking at Gordons record.

We believe it or not (in your non beliefs) as Celtic Supporters have CG or even Protestant work ethics but mainly CG and that includes non catholics. Its a Scottish thing. Instead of looking at the positives we look at the negatives.

Here we have a team which still has the outside chance of winning 3 in a row for the first time in decades and has been at the big table as much as Real Madrid in the last 2 years and what do we do we point the finger at everyone else for allowing us to be there.

oh the reason we won 2 (maybe 3) in a row was because the huns were crap. We went through the CL group stages even with the same points we did not before.

Why dont we as a Celtic family enjoy our success.
We enjoyed last night especailly as it was unexpected. We enjoyed love street as it was unexpected, we enjoyed 4-2 as it was unexpected. Maybe this season we will enjoy 3 in a row as its unexpected.

Fast forwarded through the next 3.5 hours of comments looking for a definitive rebuttal or proof that this is planted counter measures from the dark Mountain to unsettle the faithful and to spoil our general mood of optimism.
    "Say it ain't so Joe".

This man has no managerial credentials. He fluked his way to management, inherited George Grahams team and was a beneficiary of a cheque book full of blank cheques ( spent £100m in four years when £100m was a lot of money).
Also on a personal note his appearance on a platform endorsing Thatcher ( with Cliff and Lulu if I remember) would make such an appointment even harder to swallow.
I believe he should have had his Passport revoked for that but that probably says more about me and don't want to deflect from the general unsuitedness for Celtic.

I have never abused a Celtic employee, ever ( if you don't count shouting at the TV or radio) and I will keep my powder dry until this is confirmed one way or the other ( hopefully the other)but I will not be a silent Onlooker if this turns out to be true.

Please God no as regards David O'Leary. I feel though the timing of this is very predictable. The day after we get right back into the title race, the fans much more behind Gordon Strachan than for a long while and we see two stories regarding him. One that he's off to Benfica and the next he's to be replaced by O'Leary.

It sounds a big drop in odds from 33/1 to 2/1 but in reality it would take very little money to make the price contract like that in what must be a very quiet, if not dead, market.

If any of these happen I'll eat my hat.

Not sure how much money would have to be wagered to bring the price in from 33/1 to 2/1 . know these type of 'novelty bets' are notoriously dodgy but they are usually fuelled by individuals who think they have an inside track.

"Radio Scotland's match summarisers, Billy Dodds and Murdo MacLeod, had a discussion about Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's lunge at Nacho Novo, which earned the Dutch forward a booking. The consensus was he should have been sent off."

Is this true? If so can anyone explain why MacLeod is such a pillock these days? He could hardly contain himself when Bob Malcolm got sent off, insisting it wasn't even a foul until Richard Gordon put him straight after the match.

Is there some sort of conspiracy that the only Celtic players to get on in the media have to be complete tossers sucking up to Rangers (Tosh McKinlay excepted)?

Watched the game again tonight on the big telly, courtesy of Fox Sports in the US. We outplayed them for at least 80 mins.

I know WGS gets a lot of stick but the bhoys stuck to his game plan last night and it paid off. I wonder if Neil Lennon has brought a fresh perspective since his arrival. We are playing further up the park with Hinkel and Naylor really getting forward. Hinkel is starting to look like our best full back since Danny McGrain.

When the manky mob went down to 10 men, we kept trying to stretch the game and get round the back.

On the winning goal, Samaras chested the ball perfectly into Caldwells path. As soon as Caldwell received it Skippy broke off his marker and went deep at the far post. Caldwell played a majestic ball in and Skippy did the one good thing he managed all night by heading back across goal. Samaras had his arms in the air for the goal before JVoH even touched it. This was a well rehearsed move no doubt.

Robson and Naka were both outstanding. When Naka received the ball before winning the penalty he had a lot of work to do to make room for a shot. Not only did he make the room, he fired an unstoppable shot towards the top corner - at least for a goalie. It is a shame it was not the goal it deserved to be. 3-1 would have matched my prediction before the game :) I was frustrated by Aiden when watching the game the first time but on reflection he too had a stormer.

I feel we are on the move again. We will beat them again next week but we need two other teams to take at least a point of them. This title will be very sweet.

Can't quite get my head round that one.

Nacho Novo is an odious wee cretin. To come out and state that you had a player in your pocket after your team has been out-thought, out-muscled and outplayed is stereotypical hunnism. I don’t often use this term but on this occasion it certainly fits.

This guy knows that his religion precludes him from becoming an automatically accepted member of “ra peepil” and knows that his only hope of getting a regular game is by becoming one of them and will therefore stop at nothing to ingratiate himself with the more knuckledragging elements of our bluenose bretheren.
At most other clubs this behaviour is referred to as “badge kissing”. On this occasion he is more of a sash kisser.

Next time any of you are in an argument with one of the baddies over whether the term “hun” is sectarian tell them Wee Ignatius is the stereotypical hun. Watch the confusion on their faces when you ask them to explain why this means the term is sectarian.

And if what I am reading about the RST statement today is true. Well done boys, a spectacular own-goal. By going on the offensive about the coin throwers you are forcing Celtic to go on the offensive about your own missile throwers. Celtic were going to be punished anyway, you have just talked your own club into a fine as well.

If the players are buzzing half as much as me, Aberdeen could be in for a long afternoon tomorrow.

    Estadio Nacional

I saw Kevin Bridges at my work's Christmas night out and posted on here that he was great then too. I hope he is managing to get his humour across outside Scotland too.

As well as being very funny, he is a Hoops fan too. Another famous one in the making.
