TITLE: Lusty celebrations the sign of a team reborn

BODY:
Even though Rangers played as well as they have at Celtic Park in years, they still ended up losing to a Celtic fight back which will live long in the memory.
I am never concerned when Celtic defend a corner kick; although I cannot give you the stats, we lose very few goals this way, so as well as the predictable frustration of conceding two ‘preventable’ goals (aren’t they all) I was genuinely surprised.
Barcelona hadn’t lost a headed goal all season until they arrived in Glasgow two months ago, when Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Barry Robson both scored headers in the first 45 minutes, which was not statistically (or tactically) significant, so I have to conclude that losing two goals direct from a corner today does not reach statistically significant proportions for Celtic.
What may be more significant is the ratio of goals we lose to direct attempts on target.
There can be few more satisfying goals than one which comes from both your strikers linking up. 11 days ago it was McDonald who headed on for Vennegoor of Hesselink and today Jan returned the compliment. Both players looked tired and off form recently which for me was typified in the penalty miss by McDonald against Rangers, but that injury time winner seems to have changed things.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player who didn’t score celebrate as lustily as Scott McDonald did then. He set up a really important goal and it looked as though a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
His touch, which we have despaired at recently, was perceptively better against Aberdeen last week and when I met a couple of CQN’ers before kick-off I predicted he would be our winning player today.
Can you tell me when we signed the hard man, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink? His tackling in both Rangers games this month was uncompromising, it’s as though he has realised that these games are as much about the physical battle as silky football.
He was not the only hard man today, Robson and Hartley again were up for the battle, even Samaras knew when to make an important foul.
Talking about lusty goal celebrations, what can we make of Mr 167%, Barry Robson? I get the feeling this guy is loving every minute of life as a Celtic player. He also showed the experience we missed in central midfield earlier in the season, as the match drew to a close he held the ball and carried it into space.
He even tried a cheeky wee one from a corner kick that hit the post. First name on the team sheet for me.

COMMENT-BODY:Bhoydell ,
Not in the slightest. Big Artur takes abuse every single day as we all know. What some forget and is widely unknown to the masses is that not only Pope John Paul II , Artur's fellow countryman and Former Spiritual Leader of the Catholic Church of which Artur belongs , Also Pope John Paul was also a promising Goalkeeper!
Anyway ,
I hate the old PC world where people demand to be easily offended and its pretty insane that 7500 thousands rangers fans who sung a lot about the Irish potato famine today get easily offended.
Juan Sara , former Dundee player praised God with a t-shirt every time he scored , Their own Marvin Andrews sported religious Tshirts on the pitch regularly and would anyone take offense at Kaka displaying praise the lord T-Shirt?
We'll find that its because its Artur Boruc that people are offended and its because he's a Catholic.
Plain and simple.
Today , reading the reaction from some quarters on the simple T-shirt something clicked in me on the real meaning of the Scotland's Shame Banner from last weeks game. Scotland's Shame is the denial that Anti-Catholicism exists in Scotland. It echoed loud from even some of our own today but its not lost on Artur Boruc.

COMMENT-BODY:I'm glad that Barry Robson is proving good value for money Paul, he has got just that Alan Thompson like mettle which is needed against a physical team. We know the majority of Scottish refs won't protect the ball players in the Celtic team. When the likes of Aiden sees Barry and Paul Hartley taking them on, he gets on with doing what he does best, gliding by defenders.
As for Scott McDonald, he really is turning into Celtic class.
I'm so pleased that Scotland's footballers have chosen Aiden McGeady as their player of the season. Not that the season is over yet, is it?

I'm no statto but we've a goal difference of +54 and presently 80points...(still 9 points to play for)
We win our last 3 games by at least a single goal and we're up to minimum of +57 goal difference and final total of 89 points!
Assuming we win our games...please!
Gers so far have 75 points and goal diff of +47 (6 games = 18 points still available to win)
They would be needing to win 15 points or 5 wins to steal our title ....and finish on 90points
So if the game plan goes ahead as we all hope, then either 2 draws to draw us level on points(drop 4 points) or better 2 or more defeats (ha ha) will see us through.......but ONLY if we keep up our part in this.
Goal diff might well come into play so us rattling in a few one of these days would do us very nicely.
If anyone reckons I'm overlooking possible stats \ points please correct me...but it's been a helluva long day!

There are two things which are brilliant about what Artur done today.
1. It ups a mirror right in the face of the anti-catholic fervor that exists in Scotland. No one can critisise his action without themselves being exposed as a bigot. As someone said previously see, Juan Sara, Kaka, Andrews and many other players who brandish religious t-shirts.
However the bigyin knew he was on the wind up. and the goons on real radio and radio snide with be condemning him for weeks.
2. Strachan's response. ..I'd have a problem if it was god save myra hindley. but not... brilliant.
Top Class. I've been convinced for weeks that we are going to win the league. Still am. they employ they same 61% away win record that they have achieved all season and we win.
The hard part is us winning all our games. But I think we can and will.

The number-one priority, as we all know, is that Celtic must win all three remaining games.
If we do, two draws for them could see it go to goal difference on the last day. Goals in the games ahead, for this reason, matter immensely.
We have a seven-goal advantage at the moment, which sounds great, but if Rangers win five out of seven matches they must, logically, reduce that difference.
By my reckoning, if we win the next two games by a single goal and they win four out of six by a single goal, drawing the other two, we would go into the final game with a five-goal advantage, which would be fantastic.
It would be nerve-jangling on the final day, but I'm sure that after the 0-1 defeat to Motherwell at Celtic Park, every single one of us would have settled for that scenario.

COMMENT-BODY:My thoughts on goal difference:
If we win 3 out of 3 we get to 89 points.
If they win 4 and draw 2 they get to 89 points.
Our goal difference is 54, so 3 narrow wins makes 57.
Their goal difference is 47, so their four wins would need to come by a total of 11 goals to beat us.
St Mirren is to me their only chance of a large win. But if we could win our three games by more than one goal, it could make a big difference in the end.

Rangers have six games left. I'd be looking for them to win no more than three out of the next five, drawing the other two, taking us into the final day with a six-goal advantage, which would surely mean winning at Tannadice would be enough. Surely.

COMMENT-BODY:MATCH REPORT: CELTIC 3 RANGERS 2
PRE-MATCH COMMENT. It’s amazing the difference a 12.30 kick off on a Sunday makes to this game. Last week t you could sense the excitement as walked with the crowds but to-day it was a quieter atmosphere but still a positive one. Only disappointment was in Naylor being included, I would have preferred Wilson. Also had the feeling that McGeady would be the catalyst for victory as I just do not rate Broadfoot.
This was going to be the 379th competitive Celtic v Rangers match and G.S’s 13th Rangers game (hoping that’s not testing fate!).
BORUC ….…….6 A great one handed save in the first minute and then left rather helpless at Ranger’s two goals. After that though it was a pretty quiet day for the Pole. Wonder if anything will be said about his after full time T-shirt which had a picture of the Pope on his back!
HINKEL.... ….. 5 Had a torrid first half defensively and did little in an attacking sense apart from a great long ball which set up the first goal. Had a slightly better second 45 mins.
CALDWELL…. 8 Was outstanding in the last game and kept that performance going with another very influential display. He found Cousin difficult to cope with in the aerial battles but the longer the game went on the more dominant he became.
McMANUS…. …6 Had to go off with an injury in the second half but up until that point he was steady if not impressive. Once again did not display any signs of marshalling his teamates in his role as Captain.
NAYLOR …….….4 If you compared his positive contributions against the negative ones I’m afraid that the latter would be the longer of the two lists.
McGEADY …. …..6 I thought that he would have had a much greater influence on the game that he had but he did supply McDonald with a great pass that set up the second goal.
ROBSON. ……….7 Booked early on in the game but that did not prevent him from exerting a lot of influence the longer the game went on. He demanded the ball when the penalty was given, grabbing it from Samaras, and drilled it in for the winner.
HARTLEY ……… 6 Not as prominent as Robson but went about his business in an effective way.
NAKA…….. …….. 6 The first half passed him by except for a great free kick but he stuck to his task and was a vital player when it became important to show some composure after Celtic scored the 3rd goal.
McDONALD.. ….. 8 MOM For a player who had been going through a bad run of games he certainly picked the right one to rediscover his form! He never stopped trying and his composure when scoring the first goal was top class. His second goal might have benefited from a deflection but at least he had the confidence to go for it. It was his very sensible play which led to the penalty and he also unselfishly set up JVOH for a great chance. Now the 4th top scorer in the history of the SPL.
JVOH…………6 Laid off the ball perfectly to set up McDonald for the first goal but spoiled his performance by failing to bring the ball under control after being set up by McDonald. He also displayed how awkward he is when being asked to control the ball with his feet.
SUBS
SAMARAS …….. 5 Replace JVOH and did not do as much with the ball as I had hoped.
O’DEA ……………5 Replaced McManus and fitted in very well. Wouldn’t mind him being given a run alongside Caldwell
BROWN ………….. 4 I thought he would have replaced Naka but it was Hartley who went off. Did not make any impression on the game.
REF…………. (Thompson) 5 An interesting performance. In the first half, every foul he awarded seemed to go Rangers way but in the second half it started to go Celtic’s way.
THE GAME ……8 Full of excitement, goals, sending offs and a terrific atmosphere.
GOALS ………. 1. A great long ball by Hinkel that was met perfectly by JVOH who flicked it into the path of McDonald. He steadied himself and rifled the ball past Alexander.
2. McGeady cut inside and waited until the time was right to release McDonald who swiveled and looped a ball over the goalie.
3. A very good ball from Naka released McDonald who showed strength and nous to be tumbled over by Broadfoot.
4. The Rangers goals were well delivered corners met well by Weir and Cousin but Celtic’s zonal marking was not too impressive.
COMMENTS ….. 1. The stadium looked great as the sun shone on the righteous and left some in the dark. The banners all added to the wonderful visual experience. The crowd stayed with the team and the team delighted the crowd.
2. G.S. was proved right by leaving Naka on for the last 10 mins as Naka used his skill to walk the clock down. His little shimmy at the end that resulted in the sending off was top drawer.
3. Celtic must ensure they see off Motherwell in next weeks ‘Cup Final’ I’m not sure that Rangers nerve will hold out.

COMMENT-BODY:Well done to all today : players, management and supporters.
All the media rubbish about Gordon Strachan and us disliking him because he was not "celtic minded" is just to cause division in our house.
Some of us are celtic minded because we were brought up in a Celtic supporting household. Others I know came from different backgrounds from me and became celtic minded and are as much "celtic minded" as anyone.
Jimmy Gribben the Celtic trainer said Jock Stein might not come to Celtic because he was not "Celtic minded" because he was a supporter of Edward's lot, not because of his religion.
As Bob Kelly said in his book, he very quickly became celtic minded as did many of our great players and managers.
Henrik and Lubo probably knew little of Celtic but grew to love Celtic like so many others before them.
Gordon Strachan was not Celtic minded because he was a Hibs supporter as a young boy. From some of his comments recently, he has found out in the last two years what Celtic people have had to put up with over the years.
We have always welcomed anyone to our club as long as they were prepared to do their best for us.We should not be giving the media the chance to say anything different.
I have always been behind Gordon Strachan as a manager and will continue to support him. My one issue is his dealings with interviewers. I have no qualms about the way he treats Darnel King and the rest of Murray's lapdogs. However when he treats the Celtic TV people in the same way, Gordon does himself no favours. Maybe someone at the park should remind Gordon that he should not tar all journos with the same brush.

Many amay heroes. G Caldwell Skippy Barry Robson Aiden ...... can I ask for a word of support for our captain. He looked devaststed after going off - and a lot of poaters have been on his back recently. C'mon lhads and lassies get behind them all. God it was so good to see a Celtic team playing again with passion and belief. And I'll tell you something else. These past two months have been a steep learning curve for Gordon Strachan. Now he knows what being manager of Celtic is all about. I think we're looking at a different man now.Win or loose the SPL - he'll do for me!!!

I think the band name on the single was the 4-2's, a reference to ten men winning the league but that might be my imagination.

COMMENT-BODY:A rankers view of Artur Boruc
Idiot Boruc up to his old tricks
Yet again, the idiot that is Artur Boruc was up to his old tricks. The Polish goalkeeper revealed a 'God Bless The Pope' t-shirt after today's Celtic victory.
I mean, can he not just behave himself for once in an old firm game? Why he needs to act like this I will never know, he needs to grow up. He surely can't get away with this, I hope the SFA come down on him like a ton of bricks.
And before we start getting into this 'he is only showing his beliefs etc etc', let's get one thing straight, he done this for one reason and one reason only, to wind up the Rangers fans. Listen, if I seen a guy walking down Argyle Street with a 'God Bless The Pope' t-shirt, I wouldn't blink and eyelid or give it a second thought. But this guy does it on live tv and in front of thousands of Rangers fans.
I don't believe in any sort of religion, so personally I am not offended by it, but unfortunately, a majority of Rangers fans are, and whether you agree with their view points or not are not relevant, because at the end of the day, if you've got some idiot parading around in a god bless the pope t-shirt in that kind of atmosphere, it COULD cause a riot and it could cause people to be seriously injured or worse.
For that reason, the authorities should hit this guy hard, for one thing, it is not his first offence, it isn't even his second. If I was his manager I would be having serious words with him. Ok, we know you don't like us, but you don't need to wear a t-shirt to prove it. Boruc, you are a prat, plain and simple.
Do you think he would still have unveiled the t-shirt if Rangers had won? Do you know something? He probably would have, he has no brains. If he had any brains he would realise that he could become a target for a hate campaign.
As a decent Rangers fan, I hope that that never ever happens, but let's face it, there are people who follow Rangers who are capable of it. That's why the SFA and whoever else need to come down hard on him and make an example of him, for his own sake if nothing else.

COMMENT-BODY:A most gratifying post script to today's result is the gracious acknowledgement by some previously anti Gordon, Caldwell etc. posters to the efforts these men have put into their game.
I too wavered a bit after the Motherwell game, but I think GS called it right when he called it fear.
I now firmly believe, I think, that we are on the right road, on and off the park.
There is a perception that we, as a club, are not going to be pushed around any more. PL's proactive stand on the extension nonsense put down a marker.
I also liked GS' answer to Lovell's pre or post match reference to Celtic having the full week to prepare.
He said, "Aye, but I wouldn't mind still being in those competitions". Class.

COMMENT-BODY:celticlover. Im not sure I can agree with your analysis.
McGeady although he never delivered a decisive ball was brilliant, kept the whole left side occupied all day.
Hinkel, was SLOW (eh Kojo?) once or twice and got caught. But I think he proved, when he needs too he can move his brain and feet quick enough. He will be fine.
Naylor. Apart from his ridiculous 7 iron to no one he is pretty solid.
JvOH was also ace. hard as.. won lots of headers only thing he made a mess of was the ball McDonald played just behind him where he took too long.
Samaras is 110% skelly ! yes sorry. thats how it is. thats why he hardly got a game at man city, thats why we aint gonna buy him. He's a good lad, got good energy, but has the same skill level as Novo!!! did I say that?! sorry.
As for Hartley and Robson - well they were/are ace. hard as nails and always pass to feet.
Caldwell apart from the possible 3 handballs played well, although I wish he would stop his Beckenbaur complex it really doesnt help him.
Why does Big Mick need to watch the attacker chase him down b4 lauchin it into rowZ? wierd. ODea has a real chance I reckon.
Anyway here's hoping some big money swoops for Duff and Keane !

COMMENT-BODY:It should be noted we have a few players who are walking a bit of a suspension tightrope should they get another booking or two.
Aiden McGeady is on 9 yellow cards in the league
Massimo Donati is on 8 yellow cards in the league
Scott Brown is on 7 yellow cards in the league
Scott McDonald is on 5 yellow cards in the league
Stephen McManus, John Kennedy and JvoH are on 4 yellow cards.
John Kennedy is injured and Scott McDonald does not have enough games to get another suspension.
That leaves the rest walking a bit of a tightrope. Going into the last game without McManus, Brown, McGeady, JVOH and even Donati would cause a few problems combined with injuries.
However, Samaras would replace JvoH, Brown is no certain start, Donati shouldn't kick another ball and McManus may well be injured anyways. McGeady would be a big loss though.
Compare this with Rangers who only really have Cuellar and McCulloch as a possibility for a final day suspension, and McCulloch is crocked.

COMMENT-BODY:Paul Hartley: his crack on Bazza Ferguson's ankle in the first half was an interesting one today - the snarling, dirty-when-necessary PH we used to love to hate when playing for the jambos hasn't surfaced much in the Hoops. He made a timely appearance today. How BF hates having his midfield authority questioned - brilliant.
Barry Robson: I am never confident when watching a Celtic player preparing to take a penalty, and yet today there wasn't a doubt in my mind. That's how you take a penalty against the huns. And that's how you celebrate it, as well.

Part of the problem though is that if a suspension is given too late to come into effect this season, it carries over to next season. When that happens, the suspension counts against their record for next season too, and they incur further and lengthier suspensions quicker, that's why Scott McDonald's was so long for the standard 5 yellow cards, due to Motherwell appealing his red card last season and the suspension taking place for the first few games of this season.
We need to maintain discipline or we put ourselves at a disadvantage right away next season.

COMMENT-BODY:I actually felt McDonald struck a better penalty last week; tucked nicely into the corner albeit quite softly. It was one of those which if it goes in everyone comments on how cool it was but McGregor went the right way so it's a rubbish penalty. While Robson struck it quite powerfully it was pretty much down the middle and if Alexander hadn't already commited himself to the corner then he would have saved it quite easily I think. My preference for a penalty is struck powerfully towards a corner so I guess if you merged the two penalties it would have been one quality penalty. It doesn't matter because he scored it so nice won Barry!

Although to be fair, Kilmarnock are pants and we should beat them at home even if we are playing Miller/Zurawski.
However, we also missed McDonald for a few games mid-season bcause of that earlier suspension, and with McGeady, Brown and JvoH being carded all the time, we don't want to be missing them for chunks again next season, especially if we hope to have an extra three or four domestic games by progressing in the domestic cups.

Could not get into Failte or The Admiral so me and a couple of pals traipsed down Waterloo St. Walked into a pub and a guy I used to work with was in there. A real Rangers man (runs two supporters buses) shook my hand as I walked in and said Be caredul this is a BIG Rangers shop. I looked around no colours but took his advice and me and my pals left. Contrast and compare two and a half hours later. At Stansted Airport, a fella with Union Flag on hgis shoulders abusing a lad and asking him outside, it turns out this bear had been giving the lad and his girlfriend snide abuse on the plane.(he kept calling her a pig) The bear had two mates with him who were not interested in the slightest, but the union flagged one wanted to take it further, my pal walked between them and the bear said he'd take them both on. His pals were now very embarrassed but the girl and her fella were upset at this absolute joker. He didn't do his team's reputation any favours today, whereas the fella I used to work with enhanced it greatly.

Big of you mate. You have been given a hard time for being negative on a few occasions but you show your worth when you put your hands up after these last two games. We should never have lost the Ipox game either. Good on ye. I am not going to talk down any Celt until after its all done and dusted but I might have to put one hand up after the end of the season myself.
Nothing much to add to the joy. We know we are a much better team then them and we are a team just starting. Keep the faith.

COMMENT-BODY:Hail hail,
what a lovely weekend, like few here I am, celebrating my birthday, 46 today.
Friday - its ok honey go out and have agood time.
Saturday - dragged up town for my present the usual nouveaux middle-class shops - armani, boss, and the ilk - had a brain storm - never in my life have I owned a hoops top, time to remedy this abhoration and into the celtic shop on Argyle St we did venture, a look around the ground floor was frutless nothing caught my eye, try upstairs, upstairs I jolly well sprung like a coiled string, a glance around led me to my top, the cotton hoops with only 67 european champions, no adverts nothing, like a 7 year old I was mesmerised, was told to look around to see if there was anything else I liked, and like the kid was afraid I was being prepared for the worst news I stood my groung till the top was taken from its peg and included with the stuff being carried.
As you probably have gathered the rest of the shop tour was over in a flash I got what I always wanted and never really Knew how much till saturday, I'm chuffed to bits.
Sunday - Bright eyed and bushy tailed with a feeling of opTIMism rarely encountered prior to a glasgow derby, my new lucky hoops top faced its biggest challenge to date, with great pride I pulled on my new lucky hoops top and headed to the dolphin in partich to get the bus, unusually we could not get radio snyde on the bus so knew nothing about the team selection till inside Celtic park, but who was picked was an irrelevance as, yep you guessed it I had on my luck hoops top, anyway towards the 66th minute my faith in my lucky hoops top began to waine (?), and I was just hoping I could wear it back and working out if I wore it to anawy game and we won would it be just a lucky away top for me. How I could ever question my lucky hoops top must be like some people questioning managers and players abilities, slight difference being my new lucky hoops top can only be lucky or not, I think there might be a little more to a playing/managerial career, but like the life expectancy luck does have a lot to do with how I rate them and wether this top is in it for the long haul.
Hail hail and here's to my new lucky hoops top.

Two things struck me about the match and funny that neither were to do with skill or flair but are nevertheless vital ingredients in a winning team. Paul Hartley's face coming out of the huddle. Barry Robson shouting (raging) at Mick-when Mick was limping about the box-to get on the ground and give everyone a breather. Great stuff.

COMMENT-BODY:Footballers
And
Football
That's what won the day.
It's so rewarding when you get to see your team play with the style and panache and nous you know they have. It is electrifying to see your team get back to the notion that if needed we could and would have scored more than them.
I relished the futile verbal machinations of Scott Booth as he systematically destroyed his integrity as a commentator with his nanosecond contradictions and his threadbare pursuit of besmirching the Celtic team's win and obvious superiority.
I thought the performance before against them went a large way to remove the invented 'monkey' on our back inregards to Wattie. A pure invention - he holds no hoodoo and has quickly found out that you should not believe what you read about yourself in the papers.
I was dismayed at the continuance of the referee's (Interchangable it would seem) belief that Barry Ferguson can do no wrong - and I shudder to think what the man would have to do to get a card.
Whittaker's tackle(sic) on Nakamura (Who has had two blinders for us) summed up their frustration with themselves and their set-up.
My personal thanks go to Aiden McGeady for the bravery he showed in spite of the mammoth football lesson he was shown last time by Nacho Novo - Aye Right!
Novo your ceiling in ability and football climbs no higher than the one in the tatoo parlour you so readily frequent. A wee fish in a cesspool.
Well done Celtic.
Thank You Celtic.

COMMENT-BODY:Delighted with the performance yesterday! Especially 2nd half.
After the Murderwell defeat at Parkhead, the least I expected of the team was to win back some of the faith I had lost by winning the remainder of our games and putting TFOD under real pressure. 2 more to go to achieve that aim. (Gawd that Murderwell defeat hurts!!)
Re the game yesterday, have to admit I was worried the way things were going in the first half. P67 wrote a prior article about Rankers playing style. 1 up front, get the ball forward and attack the 2nd ball with the masses of players they have in midfield. JCD couldn’t win the first ball last wed which allowed us total dominance. Yesterday, Cousin win just about everything in the first 35mins. This hasn’t been unusual this season. I don’t think either Caldwell (who did have a good game yesterday) or McManus are physically strong enough against big centre forwards. The pattern is there….Velicka (Hearts), Miller (Aberdeen), the big lad from Benfica and Cousin yesterday. We have one monster of a centre half at the club – but I’m more likely to get a start than him.
Rankers may move Cousin on in the summer (certainly not for £3m though), but they will bring in a similar type and maybe even better as Cousin is not that great.
Thinking forward to next season, a better version of Bobo is what we need. Heres hoping WGS and the SSM are on it.

Yesterdays game provided a glimpse of hoe we differ from them.At half time on the top tier Rangers section a large union flag was being unfurled or should i say was trying to be unfurled.
It reminded me of an attempt i made one time to put a duvet inside a duvet cover. The tangled mess that was that flag brought about mirth in the Celtic support and the discomfort of the hapless huns made for a welcome half time diversion.
Finally they unravelled it to a huge ironic cheer from the Celtic support.
The difference is that they would not have the humour or subtlety to cheer.

Now is the time for a steady hand and grim determination. We must not let it slip.
As others have said Gary Caldwell has been immense the last couple of games. We are all aware of his weaknesses but too often he has shouldered the blame for our captain's shirking of responsibility. COMMENT-BODY:Re Skoosh Boof – I remember he and Eoin Jess were the great white hopes of Scottish Football in the early 90’s as they came through the ranks at Pittodrie.
Eoin Jess was a big blue nose who desperately wanted to join TFOD. It never quite happened. Wonder if his love of the dark side rubbed off on Skoosh Boof.
Eoin Jess latterly went on to achieve the square root of hee haw as a player (despite having ability).
He still had a better career than Skoosh Boof!!
Setanta is really struggling for credibility down south as they try to take on the vastly superior and greatly respected SKY SPORTS. English fans only really care for players from the SPL that they know and respect….Burley may get some as he played in the premiership (though not much as he wasn’t really that good).Butcher will as he is still regarded by some as a great England Player/Captain. Skoosh Boof????
Celtic V TFOD is the big showpiece to try and sell SPL to the English Audience.
Setanta will have to try harder to do that as it will really only be the big names that attract the audiences – by that I mean the likes of Larsson/Sutton/Hartson (others such as Liam Brady and Mick McCarthy come to mind) and on there side Laudrup/Butcher/Souness (I hate him too, but imagine you are trying to sell your core product). Even SAF who used to do summaries on SKY would be worth a shout.
Without bigger TV audience – you get lesser TV revenue which is why Setanta really should be lifting its game from Skoosh Boof!!

COMMENT-BODY:Great spirit shown by everyone yesterday - players, manager and fans. There's no feeling like waking up in the morning knowing we've beaten them.
As someone who doesn't always appreciate WGS's attempts at humour in interviews, I absolutely loved his defence of The Holy Goalie when asked about his teeshirt:
"He's not a bad lad, to be fair - the Pope. If it was 'God bless Myra Hindley', I might have a problem"
Well said wee man.
The outrage and fury in the land of "One Scotland, Many Cultures" regarding a tribute from one countryman to another is incredible.
When a Rangers goalie wore a black armband - in a game against Celtic - in memory of a terrorist murderer, it was hardly written about.
Well done The Jungle Bhoys and all the volunteers for a great banner display yesterday. I really believe that lifted our fans and the support we gave yesterday was tremendous. What also lifted us was the vision of Martin42 appearing at the top of the entrance steps in the Upper North Stand roaring out :
"STAND UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS"
Well done Martin - a sight to behold.
Rangers are now a weakened team and their morale is low. They have been forced to play some seriously bad players - none more so then Broadfoot. He is so bad they've started calling him "Chapel".
They will drop the points we need them to drop. Our big challenge is winning our own games. Go on Bhoys.

Win or lose the title this season we are still only a fwe players away from being a very good team.
Rangers on the other hand have some very big decisions to make.
At the back they won't get away with 4 centre backs accross the defence.
Weir won't go another full season,Cuellar will be touted for the fee and McGregor is 50-50 to go.
Also the style(?) of play has to an extent been found out.
They are hard to break down but if you pace players with skill, pace and who will stand up to them you have a good chance.
The Rangers supporters and press (surely the same) won't give Smith the same leeway next season for the way they play.
If Smith tries to integrate more skill into the midfield team the shape will need to change.
Rangers will have more change this summer then we will, and as we have seen every transfer is a gamble.
Final point.
Good to see us getting the treatment from a hurting press.
The more they dish out the better we are doing.
Did anyone hear Traynor yesterday saying the Paul Hartley did Bazza to agravate his ankle injury?
I wish Celtic would ask the referee from the Aberdeen game to explain why he disallowed Samaras "goal", might shut up the Andy Davis protection Society.

COMMENT-BODY:roybainestache - agree fully with your points. Just hoping that one of the few players to take us forward is a commanding centre half.
Smith does have a lot of decisions to make in the summer. And I think he will go bigger and stronger. To add more skill would be a risk that he has never taken before. Especially if, as expected, the budget on offer to him is no where near what we are being led to believe. They are the only club I know which continually tells us that the value of their players bought as transfer fee PLUS value of contract over the 3/4 years! The proposed 10m kitty will not get stretch that far with the inclusion of contracts!
Far be it for me to focus on what they will do there...however, i would be seriously looking at the continued lack of performances from captain unbookable. To me he is offering nothing. Just as well he never gets bookings/suspensions as that might force Smiths hand and play another player who'll contribute more!
The suspension of Scott Brown forced WGS to play Robson and Hartley....our season may be transformed on this decision.

COMMENT-BODY:Paul, thanks for the advice about ensuring your posts don't go missing. I usually highlight my post, right-click and copy in case something happens but last night I never. Beer/Wine + keyboard = disaster usually!
Still feeling good after yesterday. I felt Rangers edged it first half, especially the first half-hour but you knew they couldn't keep that up for 90 minutes, in fact they managed 30 then we dominated completely.
At no time after we took the lead did I feel they were likely to score, and the only had one chance that the wee rat sent wide of goal. It didn't stop me feeling sick inside with worry though even being so comfortable. What I particularly enjoyed about the last 20 minutes was the way in which we kept the ball. very rarely was the ball punted aimlessly upfield, we got into triangles, played simple passes and denied them the ball. If they don't have it, they don't score.
I've only watched the last couple of minutes of the game again, just at the point where Fergushun fouls Skippy. He turns to the ref who is no more than 5 yards away and shouts 'I never fing touched him ya fing c'. It just proves how much of a free rein he has. What was particularly funny was when he gave away the free kick Whittaker comes into shot, pointing at his head to Fergushun as if to say 'Keep The Heid'. This from the guy whose team, already down to the bare bones, goes and gets himself sent off with 10 seconds of the match to go!
I just hope we keep it up for the next 3 games and who knows what might happen. I firmly believe they will drop points as next week is now a must-win for Hibs, especially with the chance that we will beat Motherwell. They never usually find Easter Rd that easy so after being dumped from the UEFA (hopefully after extra-time) on Thursday hopefully thats the first of the 4 points we need dropped.

The SMcD 2nd goal celebration when Big Mick comes over is a strange one indeed. I'm in two minds as to whether SMcD is genuinely peeved that Mick is trying to congratulate him and pushes him away, or that he is just so pumped up after his goal that its just playful aggression.
However he then goes and celebrates with Barry Robson and its all touchy feely again.
