A Motherwell win over Aberdeen on Saturday will suit fine
Sports psychology is a complex
business. I wanted Motherwell to lose at
home to Aberdeen this Saturday to ensure that both of them have plenty to play
for when meeting Rangers the following week, but do I really want Motherwell to
face Rangers on having taken only one point from their previous 18?
A Motherwell win would go a long way to
settling third spot, meaning both teams are likely to be liberated from the
pressures of 'must win games' and would perhaps be able to go looking for a
point against Rangers rather than a win.
Do we really want to see Motherwell and Aberdeen throwing men forward in the
dying minutes of a game against Rangers with the scored at 0-0 because they
need the win? No thanks.
The 'dead rubber' scenario must also be considered; do teams mentally go on
holiday when they have nothing to play for?
Perhaps, but will Mark McGhee's Motherwell or an Aberdeen team at
Pittodrie (I'll not ask about Jimmy Calderwood)? I'm not so sure.
I would rather Rangers went to Pittodrie with Aberdeen looking for a point to
spoil, rather than needing a win to qualify for the Uefa Cup, and I would
prefer Motherwell didn't have to face Rangers after so many defeats.
It's a good job I don't get to decide the results in these games; who would be
a referee?
No Way

Did you see the picture of the far from dignified Smith in The Evening Times? Incandescent because of 4 minutes of added on time.

Diouf at his best is a fantastic player but could we really accept his personality? I know we're not in a position to be fussy but Diouf might be a bit much for me to take.
Paul67 - just had my email to you returned. Where can I find your email address? When I click on your name it just returns me to the cqn homepage.
Dobbo,
If Celtic have secured Twaio then congratulations they guy is a player and what a difference he will make at left back.
Emanuleson would have been my pick. But hey Twaio would be an excellent capture if true.
I don't care who takes points from the huns, Dundee utd, Motherwell, St. Mirren or the Sheep as long as points are dropped and there will be some points drop.
From previous post.

Diouf - no thanks! Not only because the man spat at our fans, but he is so inconsistent. He only ever plays one good game in five.
WGS,
It may be a terrible thing to say but I'd have trouble cheering for Diouf if he became a Celtic player.
Freddie I think is a spent force and for the kind of wages he was getting at the Hammers I'd imagine he'd be a drain on our resources that we could well do without.
If we're looking for a free from England with experience then I'd prefer the oft-injured Harry Kewell. If and it's a big IF, he could remain injury free for a season then he'd stroll through the SPL in my opinion.
On slyde tonight I was amazed just how much Broadfoot has assumed the role of Sir Minty's cheerleader.
I don't listen that much but was amazed - he more or less said that after beating Motherwell the Rearrangers have won the league.

Can I have your opinion on both Caldwell and "the best defender at the club" at the moment?
can I ask when you will take a step back from your continual knocking of our best player for the last couple of months, than no other reason than he came from Hibs?
Or is it just that you can't seperate a good centre half from his wages? Or his past?
Or perhaps you simply will never like the guy.
Perhaps a straight forward,"I was completey wrong, and I apologise profusely to Gary Caldwell for my previous comments" would suffice?
Or doing an Edward Ursus, and "quietly withdrawing" your utter mince when it comes to our central defence is concerned.
God I love it when people who spend a lot of time criticising some of our players are made to eat large chunks of pie.
And even better when it is pie made of the humble stuff.

Who would you leave out to play Kewell?
I can't see him getting a game frankly.

Wouldn't be a problem.
Naka won't be there anyway.
Bryce, thanks for your kind words, I appreciate them.
Let me assure you all
Stuart Dougal is NOT a Celtic Man.
I was at hospitality recently in Castle GreySkull ( It keeps one of them off a free dinner) and he was at my table.
We are both Accountants and he is not a Celtic fan.
My opinion is he is a big time Stuart Dougal fan.
Seville.67
ElDiegoBhoy,
I think Kewell could play either wing. Personally I'd love to see Naka play a more prominent role in the middle of the park, especially at home when we have far more possession. He(Naka), gets far more of the ball when he starts to wander inside and is more than good enough to retain possession and damage opponents in that area.
At the minute if we pull Naka from a game we're shuttling Brown out wide. He's not comfortable there and it shows. Robson can play wide, but I've been far more impressed with how well he's played for us in the middle.
Koki may or may not be ready to step up to the first team next season and even then he's probably going to be used sparingly in the opening weeks of the season. Aiden hasn't had a rest all season and he puts in a staggering amount of work at times. If, someone like Kewell was to arrive then we have three genuine talents for our two wide areas. Real competition for places.
Isn't that the best way to improve the side?
Thanks Paul - just re-sent it to the address you gave.
Kano,
If you look i have praised GC over the past month. My first post after the first Rangers game was" i have been his biggest critic but GC was immense tonight" something along those lines. I then followed it up after the second Rangers game and the Motherwell game last week.
If GC keeps to what he has been doing over the last month, the basic defending and the consitency he is playing then he brilliant and i will be glad.
Kojo will back me up here. I also said that i have seen more potential with GC over the past month than i have have never seen from McManus in three years.
In addition, GC concentration has improved and is winning more first balls paticular in the air. It's our left side with McManus and Naylor is the weak link. Part of GC problem is that he covers Mick quite a bit due to Mick and Nails positional sense. Because GC does this he's sacrificing playing his own zone which also results in Andreas Hinkel having to come across and tuck in behind GC. Hence the reason people are moaning Hinkel gets done quite a bit with balls over the top when it isn't actually his fault.
Sent the following to Setanta. Hope others do similar and lets see if we can get him off the payroll
"Not a question but if setanta continue to engage Scott Booth as a summariser I will have to reconsider my subscription next year. I can no longer listen to his puerile inane chatter and I feel I should not have to watch with the volume down."
Chris Sutton
I see where you're coming from but I feel we have enough "flair" players at the club. We need someone with steel in the centre of midfield if anything.
Kano
Why won't Naka be there next season?
Kano,
Balde. Yep i cannot disagree he was all over the place last week. Might be lack of games, i don't know. However, he made basic errors regardless of this and that is no excuse. I did actually say last week that O'Dea should have felt hard done by considering how well him and GC coasted the Rangers game and even the crownd were more at ease when he came on. The two of them looked solid together. If i am being honest i was hoping O'Dea got the nod last week as i think he is the real deal and i am getting qorried he will end up like Shay Given and head down south and be a rip roaring success.

Knao,
Has Naka not came out and said he and club are taking up the extra year he has in his contract?
Paul67,
Any clarification on this?
ElDiegoBhoy,
I agree with that. My mention of Kewell was as a more acceptable option than someone along the lines of Ljungberg.
I don't know a lot about the Croatian, Ognjen Vukojevic, he's been mentioned as a DM but he's got an eye for goal as well which is always a good thing for a midfielder.
wgs,we will leave it for another time, but both Central defenders"not being Celtic class" sticks out in a previous discussion.
I think the reason Andreas hinkel is getting caught out is purely due to the fact that he is not very good at the moment.
Reasonable going forward(reasonable) and quite poor in defence.
Being part of the master race(nae offence AW NAW)does not make you better than Mark Wilson.
Who should be in our team at left back.
Caldwell O'Dea,Wilson and Caddis
If only they had come from Spain,Germany and France.
Then they would be a superb defence.

Just back from Tiffin, at the Bellagio..where we shared a bite, with... the one and only, Nutsy....
that peerless Master of Sports Betting.
What I am about to say, apropos your leader...funnily enough ...involves a Cast Iron Tenet, which is espoused by that wily gentleman.
The Tenet?....
"The LONGER between WINS... by team A...in past contests against Team B... augers well that a WIN for the said Team A against team B, will be not only be forth coming, but will be INEVITABLE."
Therefore, always bet team A.... in every contest against team B...
Even after accounting for the LOSING BETS... the odds are always so generous, in favour of Team A, that a Surprise WIN for TEAM A ..against there perrenial Victors....will more that make up for the past losing bets...
Are you following my train of thought, pal?
Therefore, I shall make sure that I place a substantial Bet on MOTHERWELL to Overcome. the G.A. in their next confrontation.
The Odds shall be Juicy...and in light of your valuable info..
It would appear that after being on the losing end in the Past 18 meetings with the G.A....Motherwell, are more than ripe to create a surprise(but,we know bettah?) UPSET!
S'awright?

Can't really see where Paul is coming from here.
Can't agree that it is in Celtic's interests for Dalziel High FPs (including 5 ex-Huns) to have nothing to play for on the Saturday after that other game, when the Huns will either be (God forbid) deluded enough to believe that they are the greatest team that ever played the game or (more realistically) at absolute rock bottom after returning from defeat on the 14th.
IMO it is imperative Aberdeen take at least something from Saturday as they are our best hope and MUST have something to play for when the Huns visit them.
In the event of Aberdeen winning, and Motherwell having only one point out of their last 18 - all the more reason for the DHFPs to take something off the Huns to avoid 1 from 21.
In event of us winning on Sunday, the WORST position we can be in is 2 behind with a better GD.
COME ON THE HOOPS
Kojo
Had a wee peek at what's on offer at the Bellagio.
Sure beats The Great Eastern Hotel on Duke Street in the East End (Celticland).
Did anyone read the reserve match report? Mizuno with a Naka-esque free kick, plus 3 assists in a 6-0 win. Now I'd certainly take that in the last game of the season!
Anyone notice Kirk Broadfoot (oft overlooked candidate for POTY) trying to play football last night and tripping over the ball?
southbhoy - is that the same Kirk who doesn't know how to take a throw in?
Boltinbhoy,
My thoughts exactly. I spent a lot of the two games against them yelling foul shy, but of course no notice was taken. Strangely in Europe he gets called quite often.
But I was amazed when he was flagged last night. It was so bad that he should have been booked for persistant infrungements!
Just reading back on your previous post,Paul-
I would be seriously worried if Rangers had to visit Pittodrie needing a 6 goal victory against one of Jimmy Calderwoods teams.
Nothing personal against the lardy,Piz-bruined bear but-
he has got a bit of previous.........

Kewell, no thanks. He was rarely available for selection at Liverpool, and when he was he made little impression. Never ever the same player that he was at Leeds. I know he had injuries, but he would never provide competition for anyone at CP. As it happens with our current wage structure, he wouldn't be interested anyway. He will likely go to Coventry or QPR and spend that contract on the treatment table too.
However, I agree we need competition and an alternative to Naka and Aiden, because when they are kanckered or off form or triple marked, the whole team seems out of sync. Maybe Koki will get inducted into the squad in the pre-season games.
Kano,
Is that wishful thinking? or what...?
Speaking of throw ins, I noticed last night that little rat features has been getting lessons taking throw in's from Broadfoot a.k.a. Beckenessi according to his description on their official site.
Gordon J - for what it's worth I thought the referee had a very good game last night and called just about everything right, apart from punishing Novo for his blatant timewasting at the end.
Can we not just chip in and build a wall next week around Glasgow while they're out?
Went to see this film by the guy from Supersize Me,,,an anti fastfood flick.
In "Where in the world is Osama Bin Laden?" he travels to the middle east. One of the first things you see when he enter's Israel is a ger's scarf tied pride of place,on a wall I think.
Not a hoop on display when he visits Palestine though.
No wonder Belfast was covered in both their flags.
Kano,
I'll stick by the statemnt od some of our defenders not being Celtic class. Caldwell has had a good month if he contues like that and improves then he may prove me wrong. I hope he does
Who would you rather have in your defence?
McManus or say somebody like John Mensah or Christophe Metzelder?
Kano,
Ig WGS is away and Naka is gone as well with "new broom and all that". I'm willing to say that your captain will be gone as well. A new coach will see that.
Evening all.
First of a few on the subject I'm afraid....
If you remember from earlier in the week, my mates were up for the best new build in Grand Designs Live and went on to win it - THANKS TO VOTES FROM SOME OF YOU GOOD PEOPLE. Much appreciated!
Anyway, the final is tomorrow (Friday) at 9pm. Can I ask as many of you as possible to vote for Jim and Becky - as I said before, big Celtic man, and it's definitely better one of our own wins these things.
You really couldn't meet a nicer couple, and they have worked extremely hard to get where they are. They have worked on a very tight budget, and done a lot of the 'hoofing' themselves on the building work to save cash. They really do deserve this.
He phoned tonight to pass on his sincere thanks to anyone who voted, and said when he heard I had blogged it on CQN, he jumped around like a numpty and immediately put on his only piece of green clothing (a jumper) which he duely wore on the programme. I told him to get the hoops out for the final. Not sure if Becky would agree with that though.....some women......!
They really are lovely people, and I would really appreciate your voting for them. I know it's 25p, but it would be great if we could get a win here. If I meet any of you, I'll buy you a half....
Thanks guys - hail hail, and 'mon the Arabs!!!

Paul67,
Got a question for you, maybe even 2. Don't need to answer if you don't want to. CAn take the fifth if you like.
1. Your article after the Motherwell game when we lost you penned that maybe the time has come for GS to go? Have changed your mind since then?
2. Do you think the victories over Rangers will have any bearing what will happen at the end of the season?
boltonbhoy,
Agreed. The ref had a strong game last night. Similar performances in their next few games will do me nicely.
inkybhoy - sorry I missed your question on the last thread. To answer, no I do not work in the media. I can see why you ask as I stated I could noy work for the Record or Sun as if this was some sort of realistic possibility.
I am not rounded enough and have read way too much Noam Chomsky!
My dear,dear,dear,friend, Gordybhoy64
Here is a run down of the NOT run Hotels in the Strip ...from the Dearest... and the Dearest is always the best...because of the rabid competition...
The Venetian.... starts at $190 for a luxury suite.A room would be in the $160 bracket... on a weekday!
Wynn's.... almost as fine a Hotel as Above.... say a tie..prices commensurate, with the time of year and the day of the week..... looking at the $160 range.
Bellagio... right up with the best... rooms...again depends on lotsa things... say $150 a room range..Food is highly recommended.
I could contine, but those are the Top o' the Pops
My best advice for you would be to compromise a little bit on the luxury and go for the price.
I would recommend the Imperial Palace... good hotel...centrally located... packages available at discount...rooms ...around $119.
Also the Sahara or even the Stratoshere...where srangely enough every time I have been there,lately...has been loaded with Brits.
The Stratosphere has the most inexpensive room rates on the Strip
Rooms at $39.99... it is a nice hotel... although the area, is not too salubrious....but, heck...what do you care?
Sahara room rates is not far behind.... $49 or so.
Nice Hotel...Food is good.
Hope that this helps, pal... as I say room rates vary according to a multitude of things... but a phone call will set you up to date.
Kojo.
yer pal...who likes ye.
I’d like to offer this as a pre-emptive strike !
Since it’s inception in June 2005, CQN has known only success. It may have been started on one of our darkest days in recent years by Paul, but since then we have won two leagues titles, two cups and two last 16 CL appearances and we may well win a third title, the first time we have done this since the time of our Greatest ever manager.
We have had it almost handed to us on a plate these last two years, due to the implosion of our only true rivals. We may have lost two cups to lesser teams (both financially and on supporter base, in one case, to a team with an infinitesimal amount compared to ours), but these things have and do happen, LC 1971, 1994 anyone ? The natural order of league titles will always be us and them.
Their two of recent times were aided and abetted by the usual suspects and it therefore sticks in most Celtic supporters minds that in reality, we would be going for 7-in-a-row. Of this I have no doubt. The first five were arguably won against decent huns teams and therefore the euphoria felt after each was significant (none more so than the first one). It must also be remembered that there were many games spent watching Celtic slaughter far inferior opposition and struggle against the same teams of recent times. This eventually led to some, becoming bored with what was on offer.
Our emphasis and enjoyment noticeably shifted to far more exciting times that could be had a Celtic Park on a European night. Memories of past glories were re-enacted by many that had been brought up on tales of a Mighty European Celtic. Dreams were dreamnt and prayers were said (by some !) that we could relive our finest hour. The brain said it could NEVER happen but the heart knows it could ? This love is what brings us to Celtic Park if we possibly can. This love is why we support our club. Without it, it just wouldn’t work.
Which brings me to the reason for this post. Since it’s inception, CQN has never had to deal with the huns winning the league. This is virgin territory for all of us, including the site’s owner. We are potentially entering uncharted waters and it’s how we handle this that concerns me.
It is well established that there are predominantly four camps on here. The happy-clappers, the mine-shafters, those that flit from one side to the other and those who think of themselves as not fitting in to the previous three !!!??? Me ? number three I’m afraid. Dark, dark memories of their NIAR have scarred me for life. Refereeing decisions that have went against us since I started to be aware of the Hoops have helped to cement this, which have been endorsed / exaggerated by those that can remember longer than me and by numerous authors.
The number of posts after a major defeat most always outnumber the ones after a major victory. This would suggest that there are far less happy-clappers than the other three groups, which is my concern. IF we fail to win this league, can I ask ALL posters to remember that we are (well, most) all Celtic supporters. If / when the defeatists come on here to say “Ah tell’t yeh !”, just ignore them. Let them have their perverse moment in the sun, 'cause I know, their days there are less than mine.
And before I’m shot down by some, I would suggest most, if not all Celtic supporters know what the perceived problems are (I use this word advisedly because NOBODY knows what all the real problems are unless you are involved in all levels of management at our club) and we too probably think if this had been done and that had been done, we would be on at least 30-odd-in-a-row ! and how boring would that have been ?
I truly believe that the good times can only be fully enjoyed when you have known adversity and bad times. So what if they win this league. It will be tainted for all eternity, although this will only be remembered by us. The History books will show “X” number of titles won by them. It will not be theirs forever. We WILL win it again. We will lose it again. It’s making the most of the ones that you do win that should be enjoyed by us all. And the losing should be endured without turning on our own.
So please, please can we all remember to show each other the respect that we all deserve if it all goes wrong ? The happy-clappers have it right you know, win, lose, or draw, tomorrow they will still wake up Celtic supporters and they know that success will be theirs to enjoy at a later date. I envy them this unshakable oTIMism, I really do, but I also know that I too will wake up a Celtic supporter tomorrow, but my ability to take defeat to them fair knocks the wind out of me.
This site IMHO, has helped us to come together under Celtic's name, but it has also given us all the opportunity to remind us on a daily basis, what a huns league title win will mean to us all and how painful that will be. Have you ever thought about that ? I'm sure I'm not the only one who stopped reading the rags because I knew what would be in them. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has stayed off of here after a particularly bad result, knowing full well how the blog would read.
But, because I'm amongst my ain on here, I come back time after time, knowing full well the cycle that this blog follows. If I'm being honest, I sometimes wonder why I read so much as I do, because I know I'm only going to stoke up my own paranoia, anger, resentment, hatred for the things that make me act that way !
Anyhoo, I'm here because I can't keep away. What may be about to unfold will test us all on here. This place has never seen this before, so let's show Paul the respect HE deserves by keeping the dream alive and by maintaining the standards that we all expect on here.

If we win the championship, I hope WGS walks away.
1. He retires undefeated
2. I believe the board are in a position to spend some serious money and I don't believe they fully trust WGS.
Walk away and it's a win win situation
I spotted this about Broadfoot too and had people thinking I was being petty when I mentioned it.
How can any man NOT be able to learn to put the damned ball behind his head to throw it?
I hear if St Mirren hadn't come in for him he was considering medicine.
WGS,
Mensah is a good shout and may be worth a punt as his profile isn't as high as someone like Metzelder.
Sebastien Puygrenier of Nancy is a beast of a CB and again is someone who would fly under the radar of the bigger clubs to an extent.
Someone mentioned Taiwo as a done deal the other day if my memory serves me correctly. Meant to comment at the time that if that were the case then was there any mention of the fee involved? He's been the next big thing in France for the last two years now. He needs to show more consistency and get some control over his temper.

Can you change your mind If you make a statement with the word maybe in it?

If you are gonna be an English teacher for EDB's lassie, you should learn that presently is different from currently.
On the youth set up. The only objective measure we could have is to ask the question, "Are there any targets Celtic tried to sign who chose to go to other SPL clubs?" Otherwise it must be our failure to develop players or we are in the midst of a statistically anomalous dry spell or our current U-17's will be late developers or the SFA selection process is biased.

I'm saying this before the really serious part of the season starts and anything is settled. I believe we will win the league, but if the unthinkable should happen, I will still be a Celtic fan, and as such will will always be privileged.
We know who we are, we know what we stand for.
Hail Hail
Not easy all this, but the key thing is we win our two games. Rangers may well win all their remaining league games until the final one, when Zander Diamond will pop up in the 95th minute with an equaliser, following Captain Unbookable of Cortisone's earlier penalty.
In other news, apparently Rangers fans are organising a convoy to leave Ibrox at 10am next Wednesday, and en route to Manchester, it will travel through Glasgow city-centre. As someone who works a stone's throw from George Square, can anyone recommend suitable refuge, or the best place to go on the possible 'sickie' day?
dont want to appear churlish to ed but reading comparisons to celtic seville season and the status of uefa cup.
Great achievement to reach the final but anyone who thinks the stature of the tournament is even close to 2003 is living in a world without reality.
A cosy group of 5 football illuminaries where 3 of 5 go through? come on.
on evidence the teams so far have been of a poor fayre and you have the likes of bolton demeaning the competition by playing weakened sides when favourites to go through as want out to concentrate on survival.
As i said great achievement but the sides involved now dont have a patch on the quality that was there 2003.
And again not to be churlish we got a holiday in 120 degree heat, if celtic got to a final 3 hours down the road would feel a little cheated.
On a personal note hope you have a great time if venturing ed, but hope football wins.
sadly that means not your team.
The place that we call Paradise, you dont need refuge, just flour, eggs and water balloons filled with urine!
I may be ridiculed for this but the way the desperados have tried to use their friends who are in influential positions to assist them, reminds me of the way certain colurful personalities in the past in America, have operated.
They use their 'friends' in positions of power, such as administrators & workers leaders to do their bidding to try and add a bit of legitimacy to their agenda.
I hope our forwards have the Dixie Deans touch against Hibs on sunday.

I believe,contrary to your opinion,in this.
THAT MR. STRACHAN HAS DONE A WHALE OF A JOB, IN THE REGION OF THE MRRKET,WHERE HIS PURSE HAS FORCED HIM TO LOOK!
The 2 Million to 3 Million area, where he has trolled..does not throw up many Bargains.
In fact, that area is a COMPLETE AND UTTER CRAP- SHOOT.
Nowadays, a BETTER THAN AVERAGE FELLOW ,will cost...in the 5 million range or thereabouts.
So, one can easily see that my lauding of Mr.Strachan's abliities nas not been mis-placed...
He has created an ENTIRELY NEW WORKFORCE, from what he Inherited... and in doing so, has done a Bumper job.... His Two Championships ,in a row, and his accomplishments in Europe, bear witness to that.
No,pal... to find another Manager who could emulate those feats...at so little Expense... is a task that would be well beyond the efforts of many.
I would be most intrigued to know, where one would find another Manager, who could Equal the Success that Mr.Strachan has enjoyed....far less one, who could hope surpess them.
Names of Candidates for the Celtic Managerial Position..from you... would be much appreciated.
In closing.
I am a Solid ROOTER for our Incumbent... I say that without any reservations...
How can one improve on Mr.Strachan's success?
That,my friend is a task that could be added to the list of Hercules... under, "Of things to do".
Kojo.
yer pal.....who likes ye.
Not posted for a while (or very often), but just back from hols and still got the holiday spirit(s). So I'll say this .... we will win the league (I believe with a wee bit of hope n prayer). I went with the wife and said if we win the league we'll come back with the 2 bhoys, normally it costs me money when Celts get beat, this time it'll cost a lot more when we win (WHEN WE WIN).
Cmon the Hoops

Noel, aye, but his players don’t like him and would do anything to upset Jimmy.
WGS, Gordon is not wanted by a significant proportion of the support; I cannot see why he would remain after the summer.
Pablofanque (need to get used to that spelling), thank you for you kind pre-emptive strike. Alas, CQN’s first season did not go to plan, we started in July 2004, but you are right in one respect, that May sure was a bitter time.
The place that we call Paradise, you mean you and your pals are not due to run out of petrol in the city on Wednesday?
Still playing catch-up from yesterday so apologies if this has been posted before, but some wag from Celticminded.com has been going around stores in Ayrshire planking these videos.

Pablo.
Maybe its age or maybe its the pragmatist in me but your post has eloquently stated just how I feel at the moment. For the record - I believe - firmly - that we will be champions this year. But if it doesn't happen I'll live with it - with the help of CQN.
I've lived with it many many times before I'll do it again if need be. One thing I do know - irrespective of the result on Thurs night God spares me I'll wake up on Fri 23rd still proud of my team, proud of my fellow supporters and outrageously proud to be a Tim!
My plan for next Wednesday is to stay in all day, work hard and ignore the media until kick off time. I wouldn't go anywhere near Manchester, or even Ibrox, if you paid me.
Pablo,
You make some good points however its pointless thinking about something which isn't going to happen ( Like Rangers winning the league )
Lets think about how good we are going to feel when we win cross the finishing line as winners ....
I dont know which camp that puts me in but at the moment all I can think about is .......
STANDING UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS
Pablofanque (8:54PM)
Outstanding post, good on you. I am 100% in agreement with the sentiment.
However, we may not need to call for calm and considered reactions to the loss of our title just yet....look out for the story of my Lucky £20 Note that I believe will win us the League this season, coming to a CQN thread near you soon!
The Planner
Paul, it's an age thing !!!! Just you wait till yeh git tae ma age :o))))
Lurgan53, you'n me both mate. We've pretty much seen it all, well I was here when Lisbon happened, but you know what I mean :)
If they weren't there, who would we love to beat as much ?
pablofanque
Ps, Paul, tell me about it !!! Wish I'd never changed ! ph on so many other places :o))))
Quick question for someone to clear up. Did the SFA change the rules of the Scottish cup during the competition and make the semi final a straight finish on the day rather than a replay or was that agreed before the start of the tournament. Its just something which was discussed in work.
Oooops, sorry Martin, my thanks.
pablofanque
Just read back to Noels post at 8:31...re Dons V Huns.
I met a bloke on hols a few days ago from Kilmarnock who is a Celt , he was on a course in Aberdeen 2 weeks ago and said all the Aberdeen fans are up for it and are desperate to stick it in to the huns, they want to beat the huns and rub it into them so I hope they're sorry management see it the same way.
vman
greenlion2: Not got a definitive answer but I believe the semis were always meant to go to pens. I think it was something to do with that farce when Hibs played Dunfermline, they had a meagre crowd yet fans had to make travel arrangements at a few days' notice.
BTW Lhads, I've not given up on the title this year. I've spent time at too many matches recently with the Uber-opTIMist to even consider such a thing.
If I could only just shut up this wee naggin' get that keeps reminding me of what dirty deeds will be enacted by forces outwith our control to ensure we don't, 'cause I know we've been the better team and if the home / away divide of games at the start of the season had been designated as fairness would dictate, we wouldn't be where we are right now.
pablofanque
Anyone still looking for a ticket to Manchester ?
DON'T ask this bloke.
Soundtrack is good tho'

GL2, the Scottish Cup semi was agreed to finish on the day before the competition started.
vman: There is nothing Aberdeen fans would like better than to see Rangers crash on their own turf. If Jimmy C wants to remain at Aberdeen next season, he will have to get stuck in. However, I'm not at all sure that he WILL want to remain there if a Championship side comes calling.
My dear, dear, dear friend... Setting Free the Bears..
Au contraire,mon ami...
Presently AND Currently are both inter changeable, as they HAVE THE SAME meaning..
Viz: These definitions are from the Online Dictionary...
Currently: Adverb. At the PRESENT TIME; NOW, eg. "She is currently working as a lab. technician.
Presently:Adverb. At the PRESENT TIME; NOW, eg " He is presently out of the country.
Those definition have been copied, VERBATUM

vman,
another story i heard to calm fears on the potential d-day at pitroddie.
a friend of a friend was speaking to zander diamond last week and expressed the fears many celts have should it go to the wire with the 2 jimmys history i.e. he'd drop zander etc etc, zander let the gentleman no in no uncertain terms should sunbed sam even try to pull a stunt like that then he wouldn't play for him again, he also stated that he wouldn't exactly be on a 1 man crusade on the night as he is far from the only jungle jim in the aberdeen side these days.

July 2004..!!!!
I remember being a tad anoyed with for a thread posted before that Sunday at Fir Park..felt it was too confident..
sorry..needed a load of people to blame that day;-)
onwards and upwards since though..
Still trying to prepare for that lot coming down here..Boltonbhoy..if you know of a green corner in the North West next Wednesday..let me know
I really can't make my mind up whether or not they will drop the points. I know the odds are long but if Utd don't take anything on Saturday, I think they'll do it.
St.Mirren bottom 6, shouldn't be an issue, which means they need to drop points from both remaining games..
I seriously hope I'm wrong but I'm preparing for the worst, the very worst
Kojo,
Well that’s me put in my place.
I feel WGS is in a no win situation, the majority of the fans simply do not like or appreciate him, correct????? Like or dislike, one has to admire his achievements, correct? I would like the wee man to walk away with 3 in a row and hand the baton over to a new man, who?????????? That my friend is the $64000 question, if transfers are a lottery then what is a change of manager, a recipe for disaster???????? New man, too easy to come up with names, if I were in charge rather than name a manager I would set the critique. Then the new man appears from the fog, ok. Then again why not stick................or twist it’s your call.
Only my 2nd post here, but, I'm loving the optimism of everyone here! I too firmly believe that we'll prevail this season, but, I'm hoping that when the close season finally arrives we'll strengthen the starting 11 significantly!
We really need to learn from the mistakes of last year and not allow ourselves to be dragged back by our friends from the dark side. We were in a position of strength last year, both in footballing and financial terms, but somehow we seemed to take our eye off the ball and allowed them to build a workmanlike team of honest jobbers who have almost stolen our title! We can't afford to let this happen again, we must look at the areas that need strengthened and bring in ready made footballers, not the likes of Donati, who was a gamble that just hasn't worked, but, quality players who can enhance the side!
Personally I think the huns will drop points in more than one of their remaining fixtures, they are a spent force and are looking increasingly desperate in their attempts to win the league.
We must keep our focus and win our 2 remaining games at all costs, can you imagine the disappointment if they drop points and we let ourselves down by not picking up maximum points???
Always Believe!!!
Anybody know what that little rotund person Traynor got off Murray for his efforts this week?
Brown envelope, a trip to one of his chateauxs. That's right!! Silly me!! Exclusive reaction to the decision. That 5th floor building is quite high up in the BBC headquarters Jim. Better watch you don't annoy any Celtic fans.:)
One star and Paul thanks for clearing it up as even with smudger etc there I could not see them get away with it.
I am really concerned over the ref for them on Saturday. H ehas cheated in the past and do so again. If it comes to it I can see him getting Tannadice.
I might have missed the crack/comments (f any) I've not been on the web since the orcs have qualified for M'Chester.
My question is how do you think the (possibly 100,000) Rule Brittania loving hordes will do when they visit manchester and the surrounding areas ?
What are the chances of them performing as well as the 80,000 Celts who went to Seville ?
I actually hope it goes ok because I live and work in the North West of England and I know it will reflect back on all of us.....I'll be telling everyone I know that we went to Seville and had no problems at all with the locals and they loved us.

rammybhoy: As Paulhas pointed out many times, the Rangers home record is formidable. However, Dundee Utd played them off the park at Hampden and may well do so again.

from www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors
Some argue that “presently” doesn’t mean “in the present.” It means "soon.” If you want to talk about something that’s happening right now, they urge you to say it’s going on currently.
from www.tiscali.co.uk/reference/dictionary
In standard British English this means 'in a little while', 'before long'. In some dialects, in Scots, and in American English, it retains an older meaning 'now', 'at this time': She's presently in Canada. This can sometimes be confusing: an English person saying she's visiting Canada presently would mean that she is soon to visit Canada, an American would mean that she is there now. Use soon or now if there is a danger of being misunderstood.
Us grammar pedants are fighting a losing battle on this one as it is a distinction that is not well defended. I blame American schools :-)
Kojo, son,
What is this, you using French phrases as used by Del Boy in "Only Fools and Horses,

who is the refs for this weekends games?
are any other refs confirmed for the run in?
St Mirren, against Rangers, are playing at Love St for the final time ? Or have they another season there ?
chico im trying to find the full list but mccurry is at the bigotdome on Saturday
There still appears to be many Celtic fans who are worried about Rangers "revival" last night.
Last night was their EASIEST game of the remaining 6 - and they only managed to scrape a measly 1-0 victory.
If we win our next two games we will be champs.
Chico5 - Does this mean that "Heroes" and its producers have now been added to the Fuhrer Fuhrer banned list?

MY last effort, was in no shape or form directed at you in a Chastizing Manner.
I do not write like that, when my intention is to be reproachful to my correspondent.
My trouble, I suppose, is in my style of putting down my thoughts...
If you feel that I was treating your opinion with disdain, then I apologise, profusely.
I have gone on record, right here,on this very forum. as a staunch upholder of the right of free speech and the entitlement of anyone, who is anybody, to be able to voice their own opinion...and to be free from criticism in doing so.
On the matter of how one would consider to play out one's hand .... concerning the Managerial question...
I would opt to signal.... STAY!
I am most Content with the way the cards have fallen,so far.
I think the following aphorism would explain my inaction, on this subject, rather well...
"Bettah the Di'el ye Know... than the wan ye DINNAE!"
