Celtic Park crowd have one last chance
Hibs have played four away games since the
last time they met Celtic, losing three.
Dundee United last visited Ibrox on 5 January, since then they have
played seven away league games, losing only two.
Both are likely to lose in Glasgow this
weekend, however Celtic and Rangers are vulnerable, a visiting defence that
sticks to its task and frustrates will make winning difficult.
The Celtic Park that chased away Rangers
twice in 11 days will be more than enough to deal with Hibs, but Hibs will be
hoping for a poorly filled, quiet and frustrated stadium. You and I have an important part to play, a
part which will come easy if Rangers stumble the day before, but will be even
more important if our lead is cut to one point.
Rangers will win at least two games before
the end of the season which cannot be allowed to affect sentiment at Celtic
Park on Sunday or at Tannadice 11 days later.
Sunday is the most important game of the season for Celtic, where a
Champions League type atmosphere will ensure a Champions League type result
The Celtic Park crowd have one last chance
to push the team on for 90 minutes of what will be an emotionally exhausting
afternoon against Hibernian. Don't
forget to enjoy yourself.

Well, Well, Well !

Surely not? no ...

lets party and sing our CELTIC HEARTS out
Let The People Sing!
...and roar and shout and back the team
...from the first minute till the last.
...forget what happens today with the Forces of darkness - it's in the away games that they will drop points.
If we win our games we will the leage.
From yesterday:
McGrain My Mucker – great post....memories…memories.
The night club in Edinburgh was Walker’s, owned by a Tim – a good mate of The Budapest Bhoy I think. He opened it specially for all celebrating Edinburgh Tims.
Gordon, thanks for clarification re 47-48.
Boltonbhoy – Wish I had known you were in Bolton in those days. My brother and I used to run the 5-a-side football centre (Premier Fives) – opened in Oct 97 and I spent most of that season down there, coming back at weekends for the games.
SOAL – Stayed a few times at The Moat House, but the Pack Horse was my favourite. It had an Irish bar as part of the hotel in those days (O’Leary’s) and the manager was an Irish guy from County Meath, and a big Celtic man.
Cheerio to 10-in-a-row.
Hello to 3-in-a-row.
Paul 67,
I believe tomorrow is massive if Rangers were to drop points today which I believe they will then tomorrow could see the hoops open up a gap which could deflate rangers it reall could have an adverse effect of rangers for each of the 3 competitions they remain involved in. I would like to know your thoughts Paul please? I really do believe this could be a pivotal weekend in the race for the championship. Paul on another note I beleive the news rearding Tommy Burns is not good at all (very very bad in fact) did you hear anything yourself?
Looks like 4-5-1 for them today as expected. No davis which is interesting as I thought he was their only creative player on Wednesday. Cousin leading the line too. Wonder how interested he will be.
So are players playing for a place on Wednesday or hoping to avoid any possible injuries??
To the serious business now ... I just wanted to say that the reading & discussion on the blog over the past couple of threads in particular has been truly wonderful. Having been out of the country for a few days I missed some stuff (and thanks for those directions to the Celtic bar in Rome; unfortunately we couldn't make it there) so have read a lot all at once.
Almost everything posted has been informative, often funny, and highly respectful ... of each other, of the great traditions of this club and (mostly) of outsiders. Just reading Paul's header to this thread makes ou think that if even half of that could be brought along to CP tomorrow, it'd be a skoosh. It'd be great to be there, in the sun, letting it all wash over you, knowing what it really means.
I'll make do with the Tavern in Euston, having got the early shift again. As ever, anyone London-based who is there too, please say hello and hail, hail.
Cheers Paul. After posting prolifically for several days you finally leave a single thread running for what seems like ages... then as soon as I materialise, and whilst I am typing a comment you launch a new thread! So you can have it again!
From last thread:
What's all this with the Clapton & Stones tunes? Believe it or not my old man actually played with those guys in the 60's. He is the Keith Scott in Blues Incorporated, playing alongside Mick & Charlie. And if you read the biography etc. you'll see that Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart were both moving in the same circles at the time...
I was that close to being a rock star's drugged up, psychologically disturbed kid, drowned in a swimming pool after getting out of my head at some party full of B-list wannabes!
Screw the Huns game - there's some classic old-time wrestling on The Fight Network (one up from Setanta)! The Sheikh has just put Lenny Hurst into a sleeper and revived him with a punch to the back of the neck on threat of disqualification.
Kid Chocolate - v Johnny England now. The tension is unbearable!
Jd, The Sunday Herald used an entire page of the newspaper to apologies for the comments. They made the apology and published a selection of letters as well as the original article. It was as full an apology as I have seen in a newspaper.
The Herald web site only keep a few days articles up for those who do not subscribe.
Jc2, thanks for that info from East Kilbride.
TLWIO, thanks for that confirmation on the upper age limit (40) for bone marrow testing today.
Burning Bush, excellent contribution, thanks.
roccobhoy, tomorrow will be massivbe irrespective of today's result.
I think we should leave Tommy Burns and his family to give health updates whenever they want information to be made available.
Gordon, does Novo not make it 4-4-2? And they have a fair few attackers on the bench too! Let's hope they get a couple of defenders injured!
:o)
Hopefully United will come out and crunch a couple of them early doors, whereafter the huns will think twice about going for 50/50 balls in case they get injured and miss Wednesday.
And apparently there are still tickets to be had. So what you waitin' for ????
ArdMacha, give's shout when you hit these shores and make sure you bring that property developer with yeh :o)))
pablophanque
Talking about crowds, looks like there are more than a few empty seats at Ibrox.
BigChips,
I think Novo will play wide with Cousin up front on his own. But Walter could go mad and play two up frront I suppose.
Just to let everyone know that it's going swimmingly over at the EK Holiday Inn.
They started earlier than 11am, took me just after 10:30, and when I came out it was heavin'.
BUT, don't let that put you off from going. What else are you going to do; waste your Saturday watching or listening to them??
Hail Hail
Forgot to add also -- hope everything goes well in EK and that a match is found. Br.Walfrid will be quietly satisfied if he can read the blog ... and who says he can't?
DU spurn a decent chance from a header.
Forgot to say, thanks Jc2 about the age limit. Guess I'll not be making that 120 mile round trip. Seems a wee bit extreme to me, but I suppose they know what they're doing.
pablophanque
Ned dives , free kick Ned scores
Novo scores. Free header from a fk. Poor defending.
Novo. 1-0. Bugger.
Lhondondave,
I'm quite sure they'll have an IT re-training program in heaven.
I agree with Paul67 in that we have a responsibility to do our bit - however the main responsibility rests with the players - if they are up for it then the crowd respond. Too often the players have let US down - think to the Dundee Utd, St Mirren and Hibs games earlier this season.
Hopefully the Manky Mob slip up today ..... it's our best chance I feel of them dropping points.
Anyway, the UEFA cup final will surely end up in tears for them and I feel the good people of Manchester will rue the day the Manky Mob roll (stagger) into their town.
The thought of them representing Scotland fills me with fear and dread.
Also, if they fulfill their potential for serious crowd problems - we will unfortunately be tarred with the same brush scuppering any lingering hope of joining an English league.
On this subject, I still cant get my head around the fact that as a business man I can set up in business and trade ANYWHERE in Europe - protectionism is a thing of the past, except it seems in football. If Celtic employed the best lawyers I think we would have a strong case to force the English to allow us into their league or I am missing something?
Hail hail.
Gordon, I did warn you about Cheesy Nachos.
Regarding the Bone Marrow donations, there is a list of criteria at the following link: http://www.ampthill.org.uk/donor.htm
Might help people make a decision beforehand. Unfortunately, I seem to be unsuitable.
Derek Riordan goes to ridiculous lengths to persuade the manager to play him.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/7393753.stm
Can somebody tell me how that Mark Kerr always gets a game for Dundee Utd??? Everytime i see him him play if he doesn't give the ball away he will commit stupid fouls. Just caused the goal there again.
Carried over from last thread
Cadizzy
I'll be in BB's after the game.
Probably watch in Tennants - on my lucky floorboord with my lucky jeans and wearing my lucky boxers watching my lucky screen - is it unlucky to be superstitious?
All depends on domestics but looks good for me being in BB's afore ye (having taken the high road....underground)
See you guys, if you'd been watching the wrestling like I suggested you wouldn't be worrying about Nacho Novo.
WGS,
Maybe they should play his cousin, Juan
Novo 2-0. Utd defence don't deal with a long punt.
I bumped into big Gorgeous George last night at the greek place round the corner from mine, and I told him to stick a couple by Hibs. Jeesh, that guy is massive!
Gordon, I did warn you about Cheesy Nachos.
I think I should take my intestines down to the bookies.
Sad reflection that we need articles like this nowadays...Strachan had to make a plea to the fans about backing for tomorrow as well. Remember the good old days when it would be taken for granted that the Celtic fans would be 100% right behind their team?
But now there is genuine concern (quite rightly) that some fans won't turn up / get on the teams back / get on certain players backs / give the manager a hard time.
Let's raise the roof tomorrow no matter what happens
Faithful through and through
Lubo
The first goal was never a free kick to Rangers.
Can we expect the same furore as Celtic's Corner?
one star means more - thanks for the link. was interested to see what was said, but it has to be said that their apology seems fair enough.
paul67 - from what you have said it certainly seems that they took swift and just action. at least thats something.
looks like they wont be dropping points today. hope novo gets dropped for wednesday though - what a laugh id have.....
Mike McCurry has something in his eye and immediately runs to the home bench for treatment.
Gordon_J: I think you mean he runs to the home bench for further instructions. No doubt neither he nor Rangers had prepared for a 2-0 lead.
What an anti-climax this game proved to be!
PS who cares about the huns game today...it will be an away game when they drop points. The only impact today's game has on me is the odds I'll get this afternoon for Celtic to win the league ;)
One Star,
I'm looking forward to the 27 replays at half time of the cheap free kick leading to their first goal.
TBFTL @ 12.40: Indeed they have. But Br.Walfrid blogs anonymously.
Martin42: cheers for e-mail, shall respond properly later.
Hail, hail.
Willo Flood booked for sliding non-tackle.
Racist anti-Irish chants aplenty
That throw - which came of Barry Ferguson - was another Broadfoot special. How hard can it be? The ball must come from behind your head!
Famine's over getting a run-out again.
Just tore myself away from the wrestling for a bit.
In all fairness, partisan feelings aside, Rangers are not very good at all.
Dundee finishing the half better. Great opportunity missed when the goal was unmanned but headed away by Weir.
If they can get back to 2-1 it makes it nervy for them.
Bazza bites tongue - ref stops play as ball goes towards Rangers box.
pablophanque-from previous thread, read that you spent some time up the "Dumyat". Are you from around the "Hillfoots" area in the Wee County"?
Hail! Hail!
Lubo (1.07pm).... and goal difference.
DeVries hits ball straight at keeper when it looked eaiser to score. Good finish to the half from Dundee Utd
2-0 HT.
Poor game really, they have scored with their only two chances. De Vries should have scored with the last kick of the half but shot straight at the keeper.
Utd have had some good posession but a poor final ball has let them down too often. They need an early goal in the seocnd half to get the nerves jangling again.
No foul for the first. Shocking defending and luck in equal proportion for the second. Lumpen, orange scum mocking holocaust victims. I am not watching any more of it. I'll be in row w stair 108 tomorrow siging my heart out for the good people. My God, I'm glad I am a Celtic supporter.
im starting to think that broadfoot cant phisically take a throw in propery.
possibly to do with the fact the middle of his back is higher than the back of his head.
the hunchback of ibrox.
Do think the same media that ignore the 'go home'chants will ignore the racist zenit fans if they racially abuse any of rangers black players.
me neither
Ah well. I think I'll give the second half a miss and get down to the Holiday Inn at EK. I'm 37 so I just sneak in under the age limit.
Got £30 on Crystal Palace to win today and it's 0-0 at HT. Hoping for better 2nd halfs all round.
That's a free kick now, is it - striker puts his body in front of defender and hits the turf. And they had the cheek to talk about a corner!
get jim obrien on for the second half
You know, I was sceptical about the Setanta bias but the amount of attention given to a corner compared to the LACK of attention to a very dodgy free kick is convincing me otherwise.
Caught the last 15 of the first half,McCurry at his impartial best. At least two or three times a 50/50 that united have won ball he has given hun foul or pulled play back.
No need for the customary soft penalty....yet!
any one going to ek from lblantyre/hamilton/wishaw (WGS) area.
the stewartfield road is closed so you will have to go the long way through ek...
Hey God
I did the East Kilbride thing, now where's your side of the deal? Dundee Utd, in case you've forgotten!
Deal or no deal?
Paul - not sure if it's the pulling power of this great site, but there were 'hunners' down at the Holiday Inn. Well done for sorting it - sometimes with popularity comes social responsibility, and you've demonstrated that well in this case.
Going back to a blog yonks ago, on the use of the word 'unplayable' for Aidinho. Can I make up 'unbookable' for Wee Barry? 11th Commandment?
Early goal please DU, but can't really see it. If it did happen....woooooooof!
MMC
We often hear comments that the SPL is decided by the Celtic v Rangers games, but surely this isn't the case. If Celtic had lost all four games with Rangers and won every other game, we would currently be sitting 11 points clear of TFoD, with them having just 12 points left to play for. Two draws or one win from our final two games would clinch the title.
It is actually the games at home to the likes of Hibs, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Dundee Utd & Motherwell and away to Hibs, Hearts & ICT that are key to winning the league! In particular the home games... If we hadn't dropped those eleven points at home this season we would already be Champions!
Thompson limping off the field.
Danny bhoy this is broadsword, ovah!
According to the BBC text commentary Kirk Broadfoot has taken 9 throw-ins so far. You'd think he'd have sussed out how to do it properly by now!
Weir brings down Hunt who is clear through on goal.
McCurry does his bit. Cheat.
Penalty and red card denied
As an interlude during this mince on Setanta, how many words/phrases have been coined on CQN? Mineshafter, longtimelurkers, towelthrowers, happyclappers etc etc - love it
hey, PENAAAAAALLLLLAAAAHHHHHH no way - don't be ridiculous MMC.....
Even Booth admits it was a stonewall penalty.
McCurry is a cheat. It was a penalty and a sending off.
I can't believe what I am watching here. McCurry is giving them everything never mind 50/50's he is point blank ignoring rangers diving and fouling.
Unbelievable!!!!! That was a penalty surely. McCurry is a disgrace...
Mike McCurry is just totally corrupt. Everyone could see that was a penalty and I'm pretty sure everyone knew it would not be given.
Mike McCurry is a languageviolating languageviolation. And a cheating one at that.
Can we have the name and speculation on the religious affiliations of the linesman and ref in the Sunday Mail please?
United on top and need to get a goal while they have this spell of pressure. Mind you, McCurry would probably disallow it anyway.
Whats so depressing/infuriating about McCurry's failure to give that STONEWALL penalty was the utterly 100% reliable predictability of it.
tlwio
United are really coming back into this but if they have to beat the referee as well as the other team it'll be impossible.
I hope Hunt/Flood especially and maybe some of the other United players highlight the ref's disgraceful performance after this farce...
McCurry just done his bit to assist huns to the title.
How many hun games is that now he has had very controvertial decisions in..
funny thing being, every single one has been to Rangers benefit.
QUITE SIMPLY REV McCURRY YOU'RE A CHEAT.
I look forward to reading the Reverand's apology on the whistleblower website.
Noel Hunt getting the "why don't you" treatment from the racists.
A "man of the cloth"?! Don't make me laugh!
Bad enough decision on it's own, but coupled with the Bazza semi-final GAA goal, it's an absolute bloody disgrace.
We must win tomorrow and trust that they get what they deserve during the away games.
TTTT
goal them chopped off why?
Talk me through how that can be offside when it comes off David Weir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gaol utd - and guess what? Disallowed!
Long shot deflected by Weir past the keeper. Player not involved in the play called offside.
Another joke of a decision. This is cheating pure and simple.
Utter disgrace
More blatant cheating from the officials.
This is disgusting
McCurry has refused to award a stonewall penalty, a goal dissallowed, no wonder they sing so loud
Another astonishing decision - Utd just had a perfectly valid goal chalked off - if I was Lewvein I'd pull my team off - this is a farce
In any other country in the world a refereeing performance like this would be investigated by the authorities. How does McCurry get away with it every time??
He is a cheat, pure and simple.
If they do win the league McCurry should be given a medal.
Levein must come out and brand this a disgrace. It should be 2-2.
why is noel hunt not back on the park yet?
Not just the semi final hand ball,9 yellows to us ,4 or 5 penalties to them ,overturning offside goals amongst others ...
Disgraceful.
Levein now quite rightly pointing out the rest of the game is pointless. Cousin headbutts Wilkie and only gets a yellow card.
Cousin with another head butt.
Sending off - of course not.
McCurry you are an absolute disgrace. You are a fvraud and a cheat.
Then there was three - Cousin headbutts a Utd player (Wilkie) and gets away with it
If anyone was left in doubt over the standard of referee's and linesmen in this country then this display sums it up!
If anyone was left in doubt regarding the integrity of these same officials then I think you have been given all the evidence you ever need.
In addition we listen to their sectarian singing against another Irish player on national television for all to see.
If there is a God this mob will win nothing this season!
Get in! 2-1
2.1 c'mom DU
GOAL UTD
Utd score and even McCurry can't find a reason to disallow it.
2-1.
Nervous finish coming up.
And Cousin gets a yellow for a headbutt.
Celtic should consult UEFA on this.
No ifs, no buts - it's corruption at the heart of Scottish football.
Turned the telly off after the non penalty award..
I trust all the 'jouralists' on tv and radio are asking 'quite what will it take for mccurry to award a penalty against rangers at ibrox?'
RFC / scottish referees.. an institutional disgrace
FTS.
If there is a God this mob will win nothing more this season!
Get in! 2-1
This is totally scandalous.
GOOOAAAAL UTD THIS TIME!
cannae chop that off can they?
2-1 Game on - The reverend will have to go into overdrive now
Regarding Blantyretims advice for getting teh the Holiday Inn from Blantyre End.
There's a wee dukey you can take.
Head straight into the B&Q bit, but go straight on at the roundabout. Then at the next roundabout take a right and head up into the country. At the top of the hill go straight on and follow the road. You'll run sort of parallel to Stewartfield Way. You'll eventually come to a wee bit called Kittochglen. Go right here past the houses and then take a left towards the museum of country life. Once there take a left at the wee mini-roundabout and you'll be on Stewartfield Way again. Take a right down to the Holiday Inn.
Disclaimer: If you let a woman guide with these directions I take no responsibility for you ending up at Braehead.
DU feeling very hard done by lads..
Every big decision has went against them. So this aint over.
the telly's back on...
C'mon the Arabs
FTS.
My 70 year old dad said on Thursday that we won't be allowed to win the league.
I now know what he means.
I posted this 5 articles ago
"I agree that Dun Utd will be the harder game for them but I can't be anything other than completely cynical regarding the "McCurry effect" on this game. The guy is shameless at the best of times, just consider how bad he'll be in his last game for Rangers when the need points to win SPL!"
How utterly predictable that little cheating minister is...
Levein - your chance for revenge will come soon....U16 team should be played against Celtic on 22nd May
I can't see this down here and I'm glad I can't; couldn't bear to listen to the BBC Scotland commentary. But none of the incidents mentioned on here are showing up on the BBC text commentary? Strange, no?
This game isn't over yet it should be 3-2 Utd and they should be down to 9 men!
Also, loads of famine's over and other racist chants throughout.
Paul - why don't we orchestrate a campaign on Wednesday night when UEFA will clearly be watching? If enough of us make complaints to UEFA when the inevitable bile is heard during the game, they could not fail to investigate. Especially if complaints are coming in from worldwide.
If there is any justice left in this miserable world United will get an equaliser.
We should have had:
Penalty United
Weir sent off
Goal United
Cousin sent off
just woke up from afternoon nap :-
LIARS AND CHEATS
WG
Even Big Fat DJ on Clyde can't believe McCurry's performance...surely something has to be done? what can be done? UEFA? FIFA? European Court of Sport Arbitration?
How much time left?
gsu
Incredible how McCurry gets away with it......and the linesman aides and abets the crime.
If there's justice there will be an equaliser.
At the very least goal difference reduced to +1 for the cheatin' scum!
5 mins + possible 4 more to go
Thing is, you tell people down here about what we're witnessing and they think it's exaggeration, fantasy. Maybe that's how UEFA would see it too.
Surely Cousin will receive a retrospective red for the headbutt? Although it's arguable whether it would suit us better for them to have him available, he's so crap.
Gordon_J,
cheers, c'mon DU get intae them!
gsu
allgreen
wise words from the voice of experience
If you didn't laugh about it you'd get paranoid.
Oh, we ARE paranoid.
That's wht we're paranoid! That's wht we're paranoid!
And just because we're paranoid it doesn't mean they're not out to get us.
C'mon Utd.......1 GOAL !!!! one more goal........
Borders Bhoy,
The problem is that McCurry gave him a yellow so it will be deemed to have been dealt with.
"wht" we're paranoid! Even my keyboard is out to get me!
It's now turned into contentious decisions for the 'old firm'
Only 3 minutes to be added.
Gordon, surely there won't be 4 added minutes if the scum are winning?
Did we expect anything else from today's referee? Of course not. Time for an investigation, and the authorities are complicit too.
Just noticed their attendance is only 30,000. Loyal support there, eh?
it is clear that mike mccurry is a blatant cheat - what i dont understand is why celtic arent taking this matter forward. it is so embarrassingly obvious that we run out of things to say about the man. why do celtic not take this further??
www.towelretrieval.com
C'mon The Shepherds
Can't wait to hear Levein's comments after the game
3-1 them - there should be an inquiry.
3-1 Darcheville. No need for the penalty now.
CHEATS to the extreme.
Dispicable cheats......
3-1
notafanofstan, Celtic get lots of contentious decisions. It's just that when the media mention it they fail to mention that these are AGAINST Celtic.
McCurry + Ibrox = Home Win
I have no pictures here nor sound.
Can anybody who is watching or listening please post an update on the impartiality, or lack thereoff, of the commentators/analysts once the game is over.
One of my big concerns right at this moment is what effect this cheating is having on our players and management as we speak.
No doubt they too are watching the game.
How many Games has McCurry referee'd for the huns this season..?
All of them.
Cheating orange scumbags.
Disgracefull officiating!!!!
