Top six all need wins as League climaxes
After steadying my nerves I switched the TV
on to catch the final minutes of Aberdeen's win over Dundee United; this season
is getting far too stressful, we won but I'm still anxious about Aberdeen and
Dundee United.
Aberdeen are now three points behind second place Motherwell who they play on
Saturday; a win would give them everything to play for in their final game
against Rangers, defeat would end their season.
Dundee United's remaining two games are against Rangers and Celtic. They are a point behind Motherwell who have
four games to play and with Hibs and Aberdeen also in the mix it's likely they
will have to win at least one game to qualify for the Uefa Cup.
A win for Hibs against Rangers tomorrow would
leapfrog them into third place ahead of their visit to Celtic Park next
weekend. Easter Road is the only away ground
in the top half of the league Rangers have won at this season; however they also
drew there in the cup and lost to Hibs at Ibrox. This one is too close to call. Hibs finish at Easter Road against
Motherwell; two home wins should see them finish third....

just back and just like celtic first

From previous thread:
If Craig Gordon's fee is any gauge, I think Artur is worth more than £10M. He does have some flaws in his game, but we cannot be so blase as to say I'll take 9, 10 or whatever. What do we do once he has gone? Artur has made some of the most outstanding saves you could possibly see. He threw in a couple against Hibs, but we have seen Celtic keepers over the years make daft mistakes, what we haven't seen is a keeper of his ability at the club since Faither.
So many permutations .... Come on the Hibees!
I can't see them getting full points from thIur three games this week. That will keep us on top and mean another win at home to Hibs on SUnday will keep us ticking along nicely. Then it's the long wait for the trip to Tannadice!
From last thread.
With regards to them.
I concede that they are in the Final on merit.People have refered to todays result as Ugly but effective and this is how they have progressed. They have played some good teams and at each stage have been underdogs,I think this could be their undoing in the Final.
They have a Good chance of cleaning up which sticks in the throat as we have a superior squad.
It makes you wonder how a collection of crap can be 90 minutes`away from winning a European Competition.I have said before This is Gordons last season his wife cant take anymore.
The powers that be have let them in big time. They were on the ropes but did not get the Knockout blow.THEY HAVE BEEN RECKLESS IN THEIR ESTIMATION OF THAT MOB.
Who's to blame.
as state don previous blog.
i can't believe that we are giving the keeper a hard time.
get a grip guys, is it our defence that pervents him from coming from cross balls?
cmon the hoops and cmon thg
Sorry, slightly off-topic, but related all the same. Check out the old guy at 05:20 - maybe Americans aren't so stupid after all! :)

However,we win the league Pumping in Manchester and Queen of the South as Cup Winners.

nelsboy
Why have this conversation at this time of the season?
nelsbhoy, I am interested to know why you think the "powers that be" have been reckless in their estimation of Rangers?
The Celtic budget and plans were consistent with recent seasons and long term plans; I saw no deviation this season. What we have seen is Rangers reaching their first European final in 35 years; their most effective team in decades, but one that we are still have a chance of finishing above.
Don't misconstrue this as a belief that we will not go on to win the league, but Rangers are allowed to get things right once every 35 years without Celtic being reckless.
EDB
Sorry its something that's been on my mind this week.

Is this the first year that the split has worked? Every team in the top 6 has something to play for right now with two matchdays to go.
Ideal scenario has to be that both Dundee Utd and Aberdeen have nothing to play for on the final day (+4) of the season. Being that Motherwell have taken maximum points from their 3 intervening fixtures... A chance to avenge Black Sunday, or even better if Hibs or any other team take a point, then no need for a helicopter at all.
Paul
Their European run aside I believe our recent policy of buying average players from below average teams(Robson Apart)is Haunting us.Cutting cloth has left our trousers short. Sorry feeling down at the moment.
My son has attended a three Motherwell games this season as he has received free tickets through his school. I have taken him to two of these games.
In each of these two games, some of the Motherwell players, to be diplomatic, were not at their best. How is it when they play a better team ie us or our main rivals, these same players, manage to raise their game?
If must be very frustrating to be a fan of a club like Motherwell, seeing their players unable to raise their game against the like of Hearts for example & make basic mistakes but when it comes to a game against a higher profile club, they play as though their lives depended on it.
Great 3 points today
6 more points please bhoys

First time blogger here , saw the updates here and know how hard it is to win at Fir park. I heard Strachan claiming that Naka got "mugged" in the first fifteen minutes. Murderwell living up to their name.
Malcolm
Would like to hear the new Mayor of London's answers to those questions.
I think this new physical Hibs brings a new dimension to the run-in.
I wonder if you could go to Rangers' starting 11 and offer them an SPL medal there and then or a written guarantee that they would play in the UEFA final, which would they take?
These games in hand give Rangers players every excuse for having a voice in the back of their heads saying they could coast one or two and giving them a decision to make when it comes to the full-blooded tackles.
There's not much in most of these top six games and anything less than 100% is unlikely to be enough.
whatever will be, will be.
Good to see San_Frantic back last night. Wondered where you were.
Those Americans seem so happy in their ignorance.
I genuinely wish I was like that.
Us, superior? I don't think so.
I stated after the game today that we played much better on Black Sunday than we did today.
Can I take you back to the run in of 2005?
Everyone goes on about that horrible Sunday but for me Celtic lost that league title because of a match v Hibs three weeks earlier. The game was tied at 1-1 when Mowbray made a double substitution that turn the game and the run in on it's head. Hibs won 3-1.
Now the next day Rangers were at Aberdeen, had we beaten Hibs I'm sure they would not have had the same motivation to record a hard fought victory on a heavy end of season pitch.
That Hibs game was the key match in season 2004/05.
Today was the key match of our season. Now as they have done all season rangers may very well prove everyone wrong again and go on and win the league. However as Paul67 the matches have now worked out perfectly.
Everyone in the top six have something to play for.
And I wonder how rangers will handle SPL teams playing them the way they have played in Europe.
As someone once said "It's a funny old game".
nelsbhoy
I think that is an end of season debate.
I have a very different view of our last two derby wins but I will not state them until the league has been decided.
"Hunt them down like dogs" and lets stay united for now.
We Shall Not Be Moved.
Said to my muckers as we travelled from Edinburgh for the game that we’d win the league if we won today.
And I believe we will.
It was a hard match, and our performance was poor. Can’t remember ever being beaten by so many corners in a game before, what was the corner count?
But we battled and battled. And amidst our mediocrity, there was a steely underbelly.
Reminded me of a great 2-1 away victory v Kilmarnock on a Wednesday night, towards the end of the CHEERIO 10-in-a-row season.
The support were once again, magnificent.
It was great to meet WG, WG Jnr, Oldtim67, Pablophanque & DBBIA before the game, albeit very briefly for a ticket handover.
Sorry I couldn’t stay for a beer bhoys, but the engine was running outside – our day will come.
NAFOS – not heard from you in ages, I see you’re collecting gold medals (last post).
Stand together, Let the people sing and we will be Champions once again.
Fholks....why are we discussing Artur leaving???
Two to go and six points required, any thing else is superfluous at this stage!
Summer comings and goings can wait for a few weeks...FOCUS!
Marcella from last night, enjoyed your Seville post, however any chance you could change your user name please?

Nelsbhoy, the policy of buying Gravesen from Real Madrid and Vennegoor of Hesselink from PSV was no more effective than the (unspecified) players bought this season.
The football budget is allocated and the manager and scouts do their job with the resources. If it gets Celtic into the knock out stage of the CL it probably reached the levels that were hoped for; if Rangers also pull their most effective team in 35 years out of the bag I don’t think we can level a “reckless” criticism at Celtic. Such is sport.
putting on the agony putting on the style, they have a lot of young players at Motherwell, inconsistency comes with this territory.
Welcome Maotsetim.
Kevtic, today’s game was certainly the key one. Until the next game, of course :-)
As you suggest, keep the pressure on.
Paul67, Boruc, didnt say wanted rid of him just believe others will come in for him and we will probably sell him. His value will soar if he has a good Euro 08 no doubt and we have needs all over the field that his fee would help!!
As much as we are in love with Hartley and Robson its a sad day when we have no real playmaker there and are dependent on a couple of hard working players to battle in midfield!! Gone are the days of the defence splitting pass as too often we play in front of teams rather than making them turn and get in behind them!!
Great video Malcolm. Not all are as dumb as that, an alarming proportion are. But let's not look down our noses. I work alongside a few people that couldn't answer some of those questions.
Putting on the agony...
I know from mates who support Motherwell and Aberdeen that it does frustrate them a lot. They wonder what might be if they had consistency. But they're resigned to their lot (sadly), and get a lot of pleasure out of beating us or tfod, it salves the frustration occasionally.
I'd hate to be that starved of success, and be resigned to wallowing in such small victories. I salute their fidelity though. Like them, if it was Celtic in that position, I wouldn't even falter in my support for them.
TexasTim: I know what you mean but football changes, much like fashion. I spent many an afternoon and evening applauding Paul McStay but the team isn't set up for a player like him at the moment, though Hartley and Robson are better footballers than I think you give them credit for.
Mind you, players like McStay are like white shirts - they'll never be out of vogue.
Anybody think Lennon might be advisisng GS on a few things. Neil's a very intelligent guy and also probably has his ear to ground with regards what the fans are thinking.
Anybody think Lenny might having with certain memebers of the squad be telling GS what his opinions might be on certain players? In a different role now where he could influence the manager and give him some food for thought on certain issues?
He is a big admirer of Scott Brown and just maybe next season with a few months under Lenny's wing we will see the real guy. People need to remember it took Stan a good year to settle at Celtic. Can name another few as well.
kevtic
Our Judas Cousins may do us a favour tommorow, I doubt it.Lights could be shining brighter.
This team stumbles along, things are not right.Point taken though.
Paul67,
I think PL will have his work cut out this summer in the transfer windy. I hope he's had holiday?:) Lot of players to move on plus i reckon we need five additions.
Paul
Guess where my gripe lies then?
OSMM yeah times change as you say but the game is all about getting the ball down and playing 1,2's , giving and going and opening up teams and yes the players and squad we have are limited in their abilities but its a pretty easy concept that we fail regularly to do!!
giving and going getting the ball down and 1,2s have a their place in the game, for now winning is everything.
Hope Lenny's situation works out.
I think our manager looks more relaxed about things since he returned although I know for a fact that it wasn't Gordon Strachan who brought him back. But both along wirth Gary Pendrew seem to be pulling together and there seems to a lot of mutual respect there.
Onwards to next week's cup final at Easter Road.
Eyes on the prize.
Winning the league is now more important than ever with Rangers in the UEFA Cup final.
I keep telling myself that their recent record is actually poor. When was the last time they won a game in the regulation 90 minutes and who were the opposition? They can't play for penalties in the league.
With that in mind, I am hopeful that Hibs will do us a favour tomorrow. Not only are they chasing third spot, they surely are out for some kind of payback for "Walter's" assault on Big Mixu? Any points dropped tomorrow will put real pressure on them, but if they draw two of their remaining matches, it cold come down to goal difference.
I feel we need at least one big win in the next two.
Not being at the game, I wonder just how much of an influence that
ploughed field they call a pitch had on our more skillfull players?
Particularly Aiden and Naka.
Paul67, Do you know if any of our current squad tune in here ?
Lurgan53
Please do explain the comment that "you know for a fact" that GS was not instrumental in bringing NL back to CP.
I know "for a fact" that Ronaldo will be with us next season. Fed up with Manchester apparently.
madra rua: Look at the difference in Aiden's performance after the break when he was playing on a left wing that actually had grass on it.
Lurgan53
I hope we all keep our eyes on the prize enough not to turn up in the wrong city next week.
It's time for a united front bhoys! Back Hibs tomorrow and everyone the huns are playing against and of course ourselves in the following weeks! If we do what we do best and get behind our team. We win 3 in a row for the first time in nearly 40 years! Keep The faith, BACK OUR TEAM! HAIL HAIL
Lurgan53
You may "know for a fact" that GS was not instrumental in bringing NL back to the club, but surley he decides who takes a seat on the bench.
One Star, I thought so.
I firmly believe that in this day and age, any club that allows its pitch into such disrepair, should be docked points. Simple as that.
Apart from being a sport, football is an entertainment business.
People pay lots of hard earned cash to enter these grounds.
Would an audience settle for a stage full of holes after paying in to see the Bolshoi ballet?
Why should top profesionals risk their future playing on ploughed fields?
Remember chelsea(the english rangers)deliberatley putting their pitch into a disgraceful condition when they tried to stop Barcelona playing football at stamford bridge two seasons ago?
Madra Rua
The pitch played a part in Aiden and Naka's performances, but I think it was more significant that they were continually assaulted by a minimum of 3 Mothers any time they got the ball.
When they eventually wised up and played the ball early, we got the equaliser.
WGS made the call for Neil, and as our erstwhile friend Kojo would say...you can take that to the bank!!
Radio Nacional de España has been running a phone-in with a difference during the breaks in the football.
People can phone up and either pretend their commentating on a goal (a real one or an imaginary one), or sing the club song of their choice. There is a prize: a ham.
An old boy just called up, Antonio from Torrelodones, and stole the whole show by commentating on a goal that Telmo Zarra scored against England in Rio de Janeiro in the World Cup in 1950. It was absolutely magic.
I sense that the ham is Antonio's.
Zarra died just over two years ago. He scored more league goals than anyone in Spanish football history.
Anyhow, I checked a couple of things out before posting this and noticed that Scotland withdrew from the World Cup in 1950. Does anyone know what that was about?
EIDiegoBhoy.
No need for the sarcasm.
Don't know how I'll convince you. Not that important really. For what its worth Lurgan is a small town. I often speak to Neil's mentor - won't give the name but he is mentioned quite often in Neil's biography. It was thought that he would go to Aston Villa to team up with Martin O Neill and the Celtic offer came out of the blue. Gordon Strachan wasn't the instigator - it came from the boardroom probably DD.
I've no need to doubt the man. None whatsoever.
My post was not a criticism of Gordon Styrachan if that's what you're implying.
Celtic_First.
Apologies. But I'm sure you know wnat I meant!
The Huns have nothing left in their locker. There are like the proverbial one armed man with the itchy arse hanging from the cliff.

Just imagine what we are going to feel like when we win the league and they get humped in Manchester, this is going to be the best season ever.........

Celtic First: I believe that Scotland failed to win the Home Internationals that year and the SFA considered it a matter of honour that they therefore had no place in a World Cup tournament.
I'm not certain about that but I believe it was closely along those lines. Bloody stupid too.
Celtic_First
The SFA probably didn`t fancy paying for a team to travel to South America by ship (?) in 1950.
However the reason that Scotland didn`t go to the 1950 World Cup was that the SFA said they would only go if they had won the Home International Championship that year and luckily they didn`t! :-)

Anyone Got a view on WGS choice of Captain today...as JVOH was probably one of the favourites to be Taken Off...
Then Caldwell refusing to take It...?
o1bhoy
Celtic_First,
A pity you can't post a link to Antonio's commentary - I would like to have heard it (not that I would understand a word, mind you - well, maybe apart from "Gooooool").
Re your 1950 World Cup query - I don't know if I have the right year but I know that the Home Championship doubled as a WC qualifying group for one competition & even although the top two sides qualified for the finals the SFA declined to travel because Scotland didn't top the Group. I think I read somewhere that there may have been a sub-text in that the SFA didn't fancy the expense involved in sending a party to Brazil & so were quite happy to have an "honourable" reason not to travel.
neillybhoy
I'm a Vale man. And St Patricks Dumbarton.
o1bhoy - Thought Jan was the right choice - a seasoned pro and a vote of confidence from a guy getting a hard time for his meagre 20 goals this season. I was impressed by Samaras going to greet Jan after the game. That's the kind of solidarity we need now.
As for Caldwell, it's fair enough if he didn't want it. He has been taking stick and probably preferred not to introduce any other issues.
He has played exceptionally well recently - touching the form he was showing before he got injured and I'm really pleased to see it.
Less stick - more support from the fans please!
We don`t have such a high opinion of the SFA do we? Maybe they were more occupied with flags around that time. :-)
One Star, moi?
Celtic_First...
It was originally intended that the team who won the British International Championship would go to the World Cup in Brazil in 1950.
However, despite FIFA changing their minds and announcing that the top two in the Championship would be invited the SFA said that Scotland would only compete in the World Cup as British Champions.
That year's Scotland v England game was played at Hampden and Scotland only needed a draw to win the title.
Unfortunately, they lost 1-0 hitting the bar in the closing minutes.
A strange fact from that game is that all five Scottish forwards were called William and the English goalkeeper was Bert Williams.

If Artur does go maybe we should think about signing this guy
evening all..just catching up with the posts from yesterday and today..where to start???
will start with the game..job done 3 points..not pretty but essential that we win last two to keep the pressure on..
agree with the posters on here about naylor today and for the last few weeks/months he has been poor..a position that has to be looked at over the summer methinks..
bobo?just his normal self.. great in the air, erratic on the deck..good job his central defensive partner again had a great game.. man of the match by a long way..
samaras??stay or go at the end of season??for me thanks but no thanks..fear that if he signs we will end up with a viduka type of player ie.moody, lazy and cant be bothered..and we cant afford that..we already have that in jvoh..
on to the stevie conroy/flanders bit...didnt hear snyde today but a caller tues/wed phoned up and cast aspersions on conroys ability to do his job..as he was a well known celtic man..a claim shot down by keevins..who said that mr.conroy would do the job to the best of his abilities..so that was the reason behind that getting aired today..
incidentally can only remember mr.conroy reffing us once before and im certain it was at c.p against killie maybe last season?..and mr.happy called him for all sorts..what else is new??
finally..ed.
a lot has been posted on here about him yesterday and today..
I always found him ok to deal with..agree with those who said that he could be evasive on things though..but he cant be held accountable for every evil that the dark side perpitrate..
I understand that its his decision as to whether he posts on this forum again and I for one hope he will, though the FF analogy was poor in the extreme..

Thanks to all auld haunds that answered the World Cup 1950 question.

If you go to www.rne.es and choose between Windows Media or Real Player for Radio 1 or Radio Exterior de España, you get the football. We're coming to the end of Zaragoza against Deportivo La Coruña (0-0).
I think it unlikely they'll play Antonio's commentary again tonight, but they may do it tomorrow afternoon, possibly between 4.45 and 5.00 or between 5.45 and 6.00 pm et cetera.
A few competitors have said they don't want to go ahead with their efforts as they just want to pay tribute to Antonio and let him have the ham.
Tune in anyway tomorrow night. Barcelona kick off against Valencia at 6.00pm our time and Real Madrid play Osasuna at 8.00. If Real Madrid win they are champions.
You will also hear Germán Burgos utter the immortal phrase: “Hay perfume de gol” (there is the scent of a goal in the air). Pure magic. All for free.
el diego bhoy
do you know staff my miserable brother
looking at the fixtures list I'm feeling confident. Rangers will play three times before our next game and unless they win all three, we'll be playing hibs to extend our lead again leaving them with no room for error in their final three. I am convinced Rangers will drop at least four points over their last six games but what still worries me is our little jaunt to tannadice. Come on Celtic two games two wins and the title is yours, ours, and certainly not theirs.
TexasTim, I understand the logic, but I see a creep of a line the old media have been putting around about Artur for a while. I know the club were v concerned about keeping him before the new contract was signed and that they were hoping for a couple of more years before this would become an issue.
Madra rua, if I knew would I let on?
O1bhoy, when I heard who was captain today I recalled Jackie McNamara being given the armband at Ibrox the game after Boavista. He was not a first choice player at the time and replaced Paul Lambert in the team. The armband was used to get him to raise his game.
Lurgan53,
Sorry but you are most definately wrong.
I can assure you that only one person at CP makes appointments on the football operations side.
With respect...Do you honestly think Gordon would be happy to be undermined in a such a way?

Nae luck.
From tomorrow's Scotland On Sunday;
"I'm adamant it wasn't a corner," said McGhee. "I'm shocked he's given it," echoed Porter. When told of Motherwell's fury, Strachan's reply was swift. "I'm furious, too. I'm furious about the offside decision in Inverness and the penalty. Furious, I am. Thank you. Ta."

Re: Lenny, does there have to be a right-and-wrong over this?
Who cares who first said it or who made the phone call? And, with the greatest respect, even Neil's "mentor" is probably only privvy to Neil's side telling him who actually dialled his number.
Regardless of who instigated the move, I don't believe for one minute that WGS is unhappy with it or that it would have happened without his prior approval. All this cloak-and-dagger stuff just fuels tabloid nonsense spinning it into an issue to undermine our manager.
He's here, I'm glad he's here and I'm sure Gordon Strachan is too. What do we have to debate?
Paul you have hinted at a number of players leaving in the summer and at least 5 coming in. Here is my list of players on the way out.
Bobo - Not in the plans and I'm starting to understand why.
Graveson - Never in the plans and will be paid out.
Boruc - I think Celtic and the Holy Goalie have an agreement in place and he will be offski for 10- 15 million. Sad but understandably.
Naylor - Only going by rumours that his family haven't settled but do not think he is good enough anyway. Need a Hinkle at left back.
O'Dea - The guy must be furious that Bobo got the nod before him for the Motherwell game and will be moving on.
Sno - Not in the plans and will want first team football.
O'Riordan - self explanatory
Pressley - self explanatory
Killen - He might stay but if we sign Samaras he goes further down the order and will be lucky to be on the bench.
Out of all these players Boruc is the only one I would like to keep and Naylor, O'Dea, Sno and Killen might stay if they can't find clubs or can't get as good a deal away from Celtic.
So it could be 9 players moving on which would be a massive clearout but apart from Boruc not a bad thing.

Marcella,
Would all you fellas take a chill pill? I only said Gordon Strachan wasn't the instigator. I'm certain he would have been consulted and I'm equally certain the move was his to approve or disapprove. God, I'm sorry I mentioned it now!!
o1bhoy: I'm a Jan fan and I think that some people don't get his style of play much like they didn't get John Hartson. He is definitely short of pace but that's not something he can do much about - it largely relates to the amount of fast-twitch muscle the guy has.
Given that, he has to play a certain game over a limited area - just like Big John. But he is very effective in that area and very good at what he does. He can try to impress some fans by running deeper more but that would only result in his being on the edge of the 18-yard box when he should be at the 6-yard box. Effectively, 50% of striking is being "Johnny-on-the-spot" and trying to make a name as a grafter would only be to the detriment of the goals tally.
I also think that Jan is unfairly penalised by refs - (a) because Celtic must not be given free-kicks in Nakamura territory or people come over all Gus McPherson and (b) because the hordes constantly campaigned for Chris Sutton to be deemed to be backing in every time he challenged for the ball and Jan is suffering for that.
As for the One Star, I can see the red-tops trying to say that another bit of European silverware would make Rangers better but they are very silly people, after all.
One Star Means More,
I do hope you're not insinuating that i'm indulging in idle speculation here...anyway your last comment (pure conjecture on your part), endorses the view I did express!
I do agree that i'm more than happy to see Neil back.
marcella: Oh don't be so bloody sensitive.
I never claimed my scenario was anything other than conjecture - I was trying to dampen down a stupid bloody argument about whose "inside info" was best between two people who couldn't see the other person's perspective.
Rangers play 3 league games before we play Hibernian. If they lose all three, and we beat Hibs, we are Champions.

Some peoples semantic foreplay - well it leaves me breathless.
Lurgan53 / One Star Means More,
Sorry guys!
I'm not trying to come across all high and mighty with "inside info", and there is no argument. I've seen stories before that take seed on the internet, then appear in papers days later...ask Paul about the Herald!
Point is...let's not do the devil's work.
Mon the Hibees!!

The post purportedly from EdwardUrsus is bogus.
When we changed servers there as a chance for mischief-makers to steal identities, and plainly this happened to Ed.

If your watching, would like your observations on "old wiskers".No wins in god knows how long.He set the "BAR".

Neil McCallum, there is no sign of an offer for Gravesen, he is expected him back on the payroll in four weeks. There is also no understanding over Boruc, no agreed price.
Delia, the post was from Edward.

ps..worked out how I can get my wee album cover back up again yet or is that still a mystery??
Just in guys & catching up with the site-Once a Tim,what a line, talking of rangers"They are like the proverbial one armed man with the itchy arse hanging from the cliff"absolute class. The league & 3 in a row is an absolute MUST for us now.IMO the best team always win the league(cups can be won with lots of draws & luck, apart from the cup wi the big ears in '67 of course)so go Celtic,2 more wins is all we ask & let's see where it takes us.Hail, hail
Dear readers
i have just realised it is CLYDE vs Airdrie for the
playoff in 1/2 div given all previous my head is bursting as to who i want to win.
Can anyone help as previously it was a no brainer but messer brown
Goram and DER hammer have confused me.
JC2...
Airdrie - Pat McCluskey used to play for them.
Talking to a couple of Bluenose mates today and we were talking about the fixture pileup for them, and one of them mentioned that Rankers were not consulted for the postponment after Phil's death and I said that it was bollocks. Celtic asked to have it postponed and the SPL went and asked Rankers about our request and they agreed.
Is this not the way it happened?

I have no inside info on NL's recruitment, but I found a comment he made on Celtic TV at the time interesting.
He said it was on the cards that he would be here for next season, but he suddenly got a phone call to come right away.
You don't need to be Columbo to figure the reason for the earlier start.
Just back from watching "Nova Scotia", John Byrne's latest play. Yhe main character looks like Danny McGrain.
Pau67 thanks for confirming that it was a post from Edward the Bear. Despite provocation, he let himself down badly by comparing the posters on your site with the filth on FF. We are way above that and I know cos "bhoy" has a log in to FF which I view from time to time. I am always suspicious of posters who "resign" from posting - just chuck it and if you are well thought of, you will be missed. Do not look for the sympathy vote. A Celtic poster of any sort would not last on FF for the number of years Edward has lasted on here.
This is my last ever post on here:-)
Only cos boy has demanded the computer!!!!!!!!
Greensideup-Rangers were asked & agreed & also had representation at funeral,no problems there.
