Ben Hutchinson back in full training this week
Ben Hutchinson
expects to return to full training this week after missing preseason through
injury. The Celtic striker reported, "I'm
not targeting a first-team game to return for. Not yet. I'll probably play a
few reserve games first and make them my pre-season games. This injury meant I
had to miss a fair bit of pre-season so I need to get my match fitness and
sharpness back.
"I'm not having any more treatment now. I'm doing ball work and sessions
in the gym as I get fit again. I'm not training with the rest of the team yet;
I'm mostly on my own or with the physios.
"I went to the St Mirren game, our season opener. It was good to witness
what happens on 'Flag Day' and this year there was special significance.
Rosemary, the widow of Tommy Burns, unfurled the flag. It was an emotional
occasion.
"It seems like a great tradition of this football club. Normally it's the
chairman that unfurls the flag but this time it was different. Tommy is missed
by everyone here. He was such a big part of Celtic - it was a nice way to pay
tribute to him."
You can send Ben questions at his icons page.

So I presume we won't see Ben on the bench for a while yet. I'm looking forward to seeing him fully fit.
Welcome Godfather67, agree.
Historyreader, I think I formally retracted my doubts about Gordon in April 2006; when he became a winner.
Lurgan53, 10:07, it was always going to take some doing to top j titor tonight but you managed it.
Paul 67,
Sorry, I just want to ask something from the last thread.
Have we actually saved any money on Tommy leaving the club now? I'm not sure why this is such good news. Surely we just paid him whatever he would of earned if he saw out his final year with us?
I suppose it's an advantage not to have such a header aroud the place, but financial advantage?
He seems a very modest a grounded young man. Hopefullly he gets a good run injury-free and we'll see what he is capable of. We had another useful striker who used Icons.com. What was his name again?
Good luck Ben
I wish all the best, he came to a function I organised at the end of last season, a shy type of guy but seemed humbled on the night.
Hail Hail
We (desperately) need a powerful, pacey and mobile CF.
Hopefully Ben can be that guy.
We missed seeing what Ben and Koki could do for us in the pre-season.
Will be mark my words!
I'm looking forward to seeing Big Ben get his chance, I hear he was highly rated at Middlesborough so we could have a future star on our hands.
From last thread:

Four heavy seasons end in failure for Celtic
My friends in Celtic, tonight, for the first time in some years, we must look failure in the eye.
...
I love the way he took the challenge of managing Celtic to the media, I love the affection he feels for the club and I love the way that defeat cuts him to the bone, but the shelf-life of a Celtic manager is finite, and it is now time for Gordon to move on. "

I liked it so much I shall put it up again.

Good to hear BH is intgrating himself into all things Celtic. I wonder what he will think of a CL night in paradise.
It seems there are a couple of bhoys out in cyberhoops who have it in for Paul67 today. Why the need to pick the skin of the bones? I do not know Paul67 from Adam except via this blog and at times some of his opinions are no were near mine while at other times I can say snap, but I for one appreciate his effort and the time he puts into this blog for all our benefit and do not understand why some have it in for him so much. Agree or disagree all you like but sometimes there seems an underlying personal dislike in some of what is written which is uncalled for. Just my opinion. Please note I am not a happy clapper or a mineshafter and have no allegiances to anyone other than my family, Celtic and myself but I enjoy this dear green site and if I were the one taking some of the comment Paul67 recieves on this site I would walk away from it.
Anyway back to all things Celtic.

"It means that Ben is destined fur greatness, and will score Two Goals, in making his first first team appearance. Which will occur within Two weeks."
The Goals part, I am not too sure if that is what she actually said..as the ever obstreperous, Luigi, at that part of the phone call.. decided to Scream fur his dinner.
Notwithstanding, I believe that I got the Two weeks part of the message, correctly.
There again, it may have been Twelve weeks!..
As just at that particular time... Toto comes in ..and happened to open the Ice Box door... which initiated the Compressor and...well... you know how loudly a Compressor can Compress?

I forgot about the lad Hutchinson, hopefully he will make an impact for us at some point this season, as potential wise he has a lot, height, pace and knows where the goal is.
Our squad has potential, just need the manager to realise it more than he is.

History Reader - never agreed with P67 on the article he posted on the eve of the defeat against Motherwell.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it is (after all) the blog he created.
Why does it grate you so?
Paul67/Moonbeams wet dream,nammaerD,
My machine has alerted me to your musings.(previous thread)
I apologise for my late response I have been on an important mission in the Greysverse. The little "Blighters" tried to abduct my machine for their evil plans and I had to "Sort em oot"
Paul67, So 7 bananas, a cabbage and 3 carrots is not enough? in my frame a "Season Book" as you call it only "Costs" me a cabbage. This frame's vegonomy is in imbalance I think. What can I expect to "Purchase" with my remaining potato, half a carrot and a banana skin? I do hope Admiral Snotaflik agree's to my expense request. Anychance Paul67 of a further bananatap and maybe if I am not being too bold a packet of big carrots? I can furnish you with information on the future sweetcorn reserve details.
Moonbeams wet dream,
Wonderful, wonderful, The Major will be delighted, your upload has "Kicked in"? this will surely gaurantee my expense request. In regards to your queries Moonbeams wet dream, the emergency key transmitted me back to my machine before I could observe "Ross Hall" whatever that is. What is this "ambernectar" you reference? is it anything like your "The Magical Swally"? I must go on a mission to this "Ross Hall" to investigate. I will "Don" my proximity vest just incase the "Animals" of Leverndale catch airpop of me. My machine has recieved 2 "Hits" with regards to WOW left back Moonbeams wet dream. It appears that in the current frame I am refused authorisation to divulge any infoledge on first "Hit" under article 98 of the timlaws. In better news though, the second "Hit" names "Sasa Papic" whoever he is, as the other WOW left back, unfortunately for Papic though in Jan 2009 this title is rescinded when it is reported that WOW, in Papic's case actually means Why Oh Why, with this news Papic become's manic with depression and enters "Skyscraper to Hell" the planets leading bi-polar treatment centre.

Mayomandan, yes, I understand we did save money by paying TG off.
Historyreader, so what is your point?
I heard Gordon disparaged from the stands at Celtic Park that day and concluded that there was no way back for him, and without the most unlikely recovery in the league, I think our club would be in pandemonium right now if a change of manager had not happened.
I made this clear but I never said he failed in the job, in fact, I suggested the reverse.
He delivered and won the respect of many who had lost faith in him.
Oldtim67, I like it better that way.

This site would be boring if all agreed and lived in harmony. The debates make excellent and compelling reading at times. While Paul clearly talks a lot of sense I don`t agree with all his points either, and don`t expect he runs this site for such (or any) gratitude. Would be quite happy to debate an issue with Paul as much as anybody else on here. Would never dream of going to someone's house and being rude though.

historyreader, I had my doubts but was proven wrong about GS and that includes last April. But let's face it, his teams have really still to set the heather alight but I appreciate the leagues and last 16 whilst still wanting to watch an entertaining Celtic which is exacltly what GS said he would bring. I am hoping this will be the season we win in big style playing the celtic way, entertaining and lots of victories that come with results greater than 1 - 0.

I have been argueing how disillusioned I have become since Sunday about the merits of WGS as a manager how great/terrible he is etc and I am not going to get involved in it. I have my opinion on Gordon but I am going to refrain from discussing it as I am sick and tired of that discusion.
I have no doubt you are not a Celtic fan.
You never post anything in praise of Paul its a personal vendetta against a bloke who has literally brought so many Celtic fans such valuable information re my beloved club, as well the site having an inclusive ethos the people who post on this forum display in general a huge amount of respect towards Paul .
There are always exceptions to every rule History reader!!!

Love with A Lee
Dear Sir
Its not every day that I write into the old meejas problem page, let alone CQNs, but I have a problem that I hope your contributers may be able to help me with.
My pet hate, up until last week, was standing in line at a bar I wouldn't normally frequent, await patiently for my turn, only to watch the bar staff pass me by and serve their friends first. Depending on how busy the bar was determined the longevity of the time you could wait. Done my box in that did.
My new pet hate?....................Till receipts. Let me explain.
Of a lunchtime, depending on my location at that time, I sometimes find myself at Greggs Hillington, purchasing a "meal deal" of either, Tuna Crunch Sandwich, (brown bread of course) a packet of cheese and onion and a bottle of Lucozade. Sometimes I substitute the Tuna Crunch with Thai Red Chicken, each equally flavoursome. From Greggs I normally repair to the local Somerfield Supermarket to buy my daily read, the Daily Mail.
This is where the problem arises. I pick up the Daily Mail with my free hand, the other being occupied by my Greggs Meal Deal Bag, and meander to the checkout. With the Daily Mail fixed under my free hands arm, I fumble about my pocket for money. Once retreived, I pass said paper to the sales assistant to scan, then pass over my money to pay. Soetimes I have nothing smaller than 20 pound note. I lift the paper with my free hand and stick it once again under my "oxter" while I await my change. With one hand and underarm fully employed, and only one hand free, I would ike my change counted out in the normal fashion, ie, "Right Zur, rats 45, 50 a poun, two three four five an fives twinty" How easy is that? Too easy for Somerfield personell it would seem. Rather than count out as described, they take the hange out of the till, then stick it on top of a till receipt whose length can only be described as toilet roll proportions. I now have a hand full of Greggs delights, an oxter full of daily Mail, and my one free hand full of change, plonked on top of a toilet roll length of receipt for 45p that I neither want nor need. I now have to leave the shop trying one handedly to get rid of said receipt to enable me to trouser my change without stuffing the whole lot in my pocket. Manys a time I have inadvertantly binned the paper change along with the receipt, then had to drop everything to delve through the remnants of discarded Subway 12 inchers and jammy doughnuts.
So my question is.......did everyone know that the Daily Mail had increased from 40p to 45p

Like you, and I suspect the majority of the support, I thought there was no way back for GS after the absymal performance against M'well.
His performance over the last 7 games should ensure his place in any Hall of Fame we might have
He deserves our support as well as thanks
However that does not mean that he should be beyond constructive
analysis/criticism
Believe it or not the criticisms I have made about his adherence to such a rigid system, I would only make to fellow Celtic supporters.
To any supporters of other clubs, I always defend our club - manager-players-board-supporters - to the hilt
Two faced perhaps - but I have always thought it was us against the rest !
The great thing about this site has been the way it provides a forum for views from a broad spectrum of the support

Historyrader im reading back to last night but I saw your post on Paul on the night of the Motherwell game.
I cant remember Pauls reason for wanting Gordon to leave but I am a really big fan of Gordon and supporter on this site of him and that weekend I posted that he should leave because he would leave with his dignty intact and it was not a criticism of Gordon it was a criticism of a 'minority' of people who go to games at Celic Park.
At that point he was the second most succesful Celtic manager I had the privelege of watching at Celtic behind Jock and he is still the same.

Lazarus @ 10:27 from last thread...
I would say that we started using the term "Hun" in the mid sixties.
Before that we called them Bluenoses (and a few other things).
I recall a hearty rendition of the ditty "Go Home Ya "Huns"" on the slopes of Hampden after we defeated said "Hun" 1-0 in the 1966 League Cup Final.
Great goal by the way - straight from the training ground (Auld to McBride to Lennox- Goal!)
The "compliment" was returned in that we were referred to as "Huns" too for a while.
However, the old Rangers traditions won the day and they continued to refer to us as.. ......well you know the rest!
Good night.
Historyreader
I do not for a minute believe that any of us have not had moments of doubt about the qualities of various managers at critical points in seasons past. Football is an emotional game and we are all in this (I hope) because of our love for Celtic and our hopes for the team. After the Motherwell game in April, around which time Paul's article was written, I had severe doubts about whether we were on the correct path, and on a couple of other occasions I have questioned whether Gordon Strachan was the right man for the job, based inevitably on coming out of a game where things have not gone well.
Emotion does that to you at times, and I am eternally grateful to Gordon and the team for proving me wrong in my infrequent, short term, knee jerk reactions. It proves why I am not a football professional, because it is about more than one game, and that is sometimes difficult for the layperson, i.e. me, to see. I trust the man to do the job, and will endeavour to keep my reactions in check in future.
Paul is providing a forum that must be the envy of many football teams. A forum where reasoned arguments are put forward and, by and large, intelligent people contibute based on their individual viewpoints. Paul's article in April, I believe, although he is more than capable of explaining this himself (or correcting me if I am wrong), was to me written to promote discussion and reflect on what at that time was looking a bit of a hopeless cause. I don't think it in any way merits the comments you are making.
I am more than willing to accept your credentials as a Celtic supporter, but your case would be better made by taking a positive approach to the forum Paul has created rather than making accusations that are difficult to sustain.
It is also worth recognising that Paul creates articles day in, day out, providing us with the opportunity to comment. That is not easy, and it is inevitable that he will write something that someone takes objection to, or disagrees with. That, however, is the point of debate, and it shouldn't be used as a stick to beat him with.
Let's get back to a positive discussion on where our great club is going, and leave the infighting to the forums of other clubs.
I'm starting to get really worried about this blog. I criticise Celtic and praise Celtic, when I see fit, this is the right of all Celtic supporters. I am neither a happy clapper, mineshafter, towel thrower, or whatever name someone who disagrees with me wants to throw about. Name calling eh, no really an argument is it.
Anyway, people referring to posts that other people made long ago to prove, what, that they are somehow a better Celtic fan than others. I like the arguments we have here, part of being a Celtic fan, just seems to be getting a wee bit nasty lately.
Cheers Panda Hands
methinks the blog taes itself a wee bit seriously sometimes
C'mon the Hoops
Chris sutton is a legend,
my machine has alerted me to your to your direct pleadings and question @ 10.51 of,
"j titor,
You know your way around a machine or three. At least one would hope you do.
How about you mosey on over to Parkhead and correct the fault on the big screen atop the Lisbon Lions stand.
I'm sure your Maris Piper bank balance may shoot up by way of helping out a large majority of tims in this timeline.
And even better, imagine the free swally you would receive at BB's from grateful friends.
One other question.
Which android did you fancy in Bladerunner? Don't try and tell me you haven't seen it. It must be compulsory viewing in your future."
As you would not know due to your average cranial capacity indexing of 0.643 chris sutton is a legend I do indeed know my way about machine's. I scoff at your low fiqure of 3. I am a level 9 timverse agent chris sutton is a legend and it is a pre-requisite of the post that I have infoledge on over 7 billion machines. On your first pleading I will "Fix" the "Big screen" problem when I attend the upcoming CelticFc v Falkirk "Match" when I float upto the "Screen" in my invisuit above you all and clean the "Flying Rat" excredump from the scartduits. Could you leave the potatos behind the "Bar" at BB's chris sutton is a legend. I will also paratake in many squaffs of "The Magical Swally" if the charitywells of the Old Paradise masses so furnish them. on your direct question of how is my favourite android from blade runner chris sutton is a legend, I have to admit to a a fondness for Pris, she reminds me of my old "Flame" Deborah Doubleoxytube, a vessel who could dip a wick for fun, she taught me so much in thingymabob pleasurisations. the sequel though chris sutton is a legend is even better, I will not go into it now but the title may whett your rumblegroans. It is called "Knifewalker" and stars cryogene superdeciever "Charlton Humperdink" the best superdeciever in the timverse.

One, preseason article was missed: " Next title easy to win, while difficult for Strachan to survive in the flashes of the critics".
Pampered? I don't know it this is proper word, but I like it.
Could'nt find it Old Tim.
Im sure it was REEL ly good though.
Well said jbj. I was part of the minority against your majority. This was most likely due to my stubborn nature in that I`d been in defence of WGS from an early stage amongst friends and family. Around the motherwell time my defence and support was probably more hope than expectation, however win or lose that league I still felt he`d done sufficient to warrant our support.
At the same time, my biggest frustration, like you, is the rigid formation. I wish that Naka and Aiden had the freedom that a 4-3-3 formation would provide and see how most other top teams are adopting this formation in the modern game with great success.
Having read Strachan`s biography, it strikes me that one of his troubles, particularly with the other Alex fae govan, was being forced to play wide and not allowed to drift infield. Ironic now that he maintains this balance in his team while Ferguson allows Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney all the freedon to express that 4-3-3 provides.
But what the hell do I know anyway!
31001 and 01bhoy - What on earth`s going on?
Gordon, as a young pup in he early 60's my elder brother always referred to them as Huns.
I'm getting a mental feedback of the Billy Boys causing mayhem outside Celtic Park which was filmed by a German film crew hence the word Hun which stuck to them.

Very well said the problem is however that History reader is not a Celtic fan
He has a "History" of consistently being deliberately provocative in his comments (Trust me I,m putting that mildly) I could use a much stronger term but I wont as this is a site that I,ve no doubt kids use and it would be disrespectfulto Paul to use uncalled for language.
need a bit of advice guys..
My father recently got the sky plus box in and and
he was wondering should he get the sky sports package or the setanta package? I was thinking the setanta as it covers the spl but he reckons the sky sports for the champions league..any advice appreciated!

What would you prefer? A serious discussion on all things Celtic, or a competition among halfwits to see who can fart the Billy Boys?
Roccobhoy

There will be an enormous response to your post I would imagine (highly controversial).
I am not going to comment as I have already stated I,m sick of the debating regarding the merits of Strachan as manager.
Zbyszek, pampered is indeed a word and a fine word too. I like a good pampering.
half n half
