I hope everyone realises this is not a case of just wanting anyone to beat Celtic but an example of that much admired trait supporting your local team.
C'mon the Killie boys
Decided to take the bull by the horns, so I'm heading to the Cleethorpoes No.1 CSC. If they canny sort oot the telly, I'm beepin' sure I can (if they'll let me !)
And a cyber pint to anyone who can name tonight's team prior to havin' seen or heard same !
Sitting here in the Hotel Manager's office(he's kindly let me use his computer)in Guadalupe(Spain not Mexico)wishing that you had not turned the clocks back, as then I would at least know the team!
Always have slight worries about any trip to Rugby Park but recent years should really be leaving me in a very relaxed position. If we play as we did for our last visit 0-3 should be the result. Let's hope so.
I´m sure guys like Brian Mc Lean ;-) and Chris Burke have already faced similar issues. The point is when your 14 how often do you make those decisions on your own. You are normally counseled by your parents. You then have to make that call off definitely Rangers versus possibly Celtic.
Personally I would never play for Rangers and I would advise my son also not too, as personal advancement is not just about money or improving as a player. Its also about decency, honor dignity and integrity.
I dont accept that your analogy is congruent and therefore stand by that any offer coming in at that point needs careful consideration. If that decision is made then you stand by it unless you think that you are being treated unfairly or that you made initially the wrong decision when you were 14.
WDH :- In the seniors technically just the one, Kilmarnock, however being the generous type I tend to count anyone playing Celtic as my local team for that day :-)

More probably a comment made by Johnny Craddock on their T.V. show.He was notorious for delivering hideous one liners, apparently unwittingly.
I`m not so sure.He was no mug.
pablo and jinky. Just typed a large message in response to your dongle thing for laptop and disappeared off my phone! (never posted from phone before and not sure i will unless i can get to bottom of it!) Damn! So i will cut to the chase, i am not in freeview area, so can i still get it through this dongle? Cheers in advance. P.s dont know how to separate paragraphs either!

below is taken from the BBC sport website -
BBC Scotland will provide live television coverage of Kilmarnock's Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final tie against Celtic on 29 October.
The 1945 GMT kick off will also be streamed on the BBC Sport website and broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland.
This seems to imply the match is being shown on the BBC website.
Anyone know how to access it?
Am I getting the wrong end of the stick?
CIS Cup Kilmarnock vs Celtic

29 Oct 2008 19:30 BBC One (Scotland only)
Dougie Vipond presents live coverage of Kilmarnock v Celtic in the quarter final of the Co-Operative Insurance cup.
Having knocked out Aberdeen in the last round, Kilmarnock will be looking to avenge their recent 3-1 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Premier League, while Celtic will be hoping for a repeat of their 5-1 victory at Rugby Park in last season's Scottish Cup.
With commentary from Paul Mitchell and Billy Dodds.
Just turned on the BBC to see all presenters wearing poppies - on their shirts. Never mind the politics, that looks bloody stupid. On a jacket yes, but on a shirt??

I tried googling it .and there seems to be more for bill tennent so looks like you may be right .
My memory must be on the way out ,come to think of it everytime I go to the dancing I keep forgetting I am married .
hil hail
G`davy,
The boay and I are up early and glad to see the game is on Setanta.
The boss is in deepest darkest Mex.,so I`m demonstrating my culinary skills.Parritch for brekky!
Hope you`re well.
Hail Hail,
A bit off topic but can anyone help? A friend of mine wants to take his wee boy to the Man U game. Does anyone know if there are any tickets available? He will pay face value and is a very decent fella. He also has a good wee barbers shop so maybe he would throw in a hair cut too!
Macjay: I'm great, thanks, but a bit colder than you. Everyone getting excited about last night's first October snow in London since whenever.
That sounds an excellent breakfast.
Fergus: never thought of googling it so there ya go. I keep forgetting I'm meant to be at work.
12 mins gone now....1-0.
Easy header for Skippy there. We look right up for this. Here's hoping for a canter tonight and a wee run oot for Paddy McCourt.
Only in the SPL would someone with the skill of Naka be treated like this.
When he's gone they will say he was an average player who went down to easily. This live revisionism.
They have no idea the impact a player like him has on raising the profile of our domestic game never mind the hard cash the entire country makes as a direct result of having one of Japans top sportsmen in this country.
I think participation should only be open to those clubs without European football at the time of their potential entry round in the comp
NAKA GOAL AGAIN.
anyway what was i saying
oh yeah
I hate the league cup as it is for the diddy teams. if we are participating we should field the under 21's.
although saying all that I am actually enjoying watching tonights game.
Nice to see O'Dea and even Donatti who are both playing reasonably well. aiden is a joy as is Maloney. even the right back wilson is playing ok at left back.
I was just going to ask that, has an infamous Loyalist killer died or is it the fact they have been told they cannie sing their favourite song anymore?
Dirty shower of Ayrshire huns - hopefully a few reds for them in the second half. Good to see Scott Brown let them know what happens when you kick one of ours.
Let's give greetin' face something to really greet for in the second half
The home fans seem to be able to articulate only one word namely, BOO !!!! At least we have Robbo and Hartley if they want to get tough. You think soor-face JJ is bad but have a look at BB pacing behind him like a caged animal. Priceless
It's a good Celtic pub. It's a little expensive but it is the centre of Bath so it's to be expected. I've had some great nights in there watching games: Spartak Moscow, the league clincher, beating Man U and the last Rangers game were brilliant in particular. Sadly the numbers haven't been as strong for the European games this season for whatever reason. Hopefully there will be a decent crowd in for the Man U game though
GC was marking Invincible but if you watch the shot from behind the goal you can see Invincible push GC hard in the back just as they both started to turn back.
Great chance for Cilian....should have scored with a header.
We have controlled this game from moment one.
84 mins gone and no failures in a Celtic jersey.
Alan Hutton has a brain melt and gives the ball straight to Emmanuel Adebayor, who runs through on goal and tees up Robin van Persie to rifle a right-foot shot past Heurelho Gomes. Spurs have self-destructed.
4-2 Arsenal by the way
Was thinking the same thing re Arturs provocative foot movement..could find himself on the front page of the sun tomorrow if he keeps behaving like that.
That’s as good as I’ve seen Celtic pass and move all season.
GC had a great game again. Why did I give that guy such a hard time?
SB excellent game -McGeady on fire at times.
They all did their job tonight.
Kilmarnock never really offered anything in this game-kicked their way through it.
Bring on the FOD -Hail Hail.
Bob.
Good performace throughout the team and we played some great football.
Some of the tackling from killie was shocking and naka in particular seemed to be getting targeted throughout the first half.
Don't understand Aiden getting MOTM - mostly ran out of possession and gave the ball away in dangerous positions several times - good finish - an excellent player - just not tonight - funny how we all see it differently
Great stuff from us tonight, especially in the face of Kilmarnock aggression.
Looks like a few of the lads will have some knocks. Hope there are no serious injuries from tonight's game as that really is the last thing we need at the moment.
Three main strikers out and young bhoys like Sheridan and Caddis breaking through.
This is the best squad we have had for some time and you get the feeling there will be no slip-ups in any of the domestic competitions this season....The treble is on!!!
Massimo looks the player he was at the start of last season when we get the ball on the ground and tonight there were plenty of players able to pass it onto.
When I heard jefferies before the game that his team would get in among us before the game I knew what their tactics would be.
They were very hard on the tackle weren't they. Even Naka lost his cool and after the media spotlight they wonder why?
We have had a few debates on here recently, we all know what they are BLAH BLAH BLAH
How's about a positive negative debate.
NEGATIVE - "Scott McDonalds' first touch as a tackle" He's got no first touch" etc etc
POSITIVE - Skippy should work on first touch. His all round link up play would improve so much.
Strangely enough most people I have heard or read PLAY on the negative. They do the same with Naka, Broony and Aiden, in fact, everyone seems to get their turn.
Going back to Skippy - Yep, he needs to work on first touch, to go to the next level.
Some of his other play is already a level above. His first touch was very OK when he played Broony back in!
Guys - sometimes I just wish you would wait, in regards to EPL scores, let us watch 'em first. I can accept La Liga updates - I don't have SKY - and often enjoy reading them.
The dearth of Italian blow by blow accounts says shed loads for me about the Italian game...
... Maybe I'm just plain old fashioned and still like to dodge the results and watch fresh...
Many good performances this evening .The passing and movement is what we have all been craving for some time .It would be very interesting to add big Sammy to that mix .
A poor goal to lose however , Mark Wilson had a decent game but he can`t seem to defend a high ball . IMO he was caught flat footed and could have done a lot better .
Donati remains an engima at times brilliant at other times lazy and lacadaisical /
O`dea was tidy ...no Loovens ..was he injured ????
Aye Gordon J. What a goal. I found myself cheering when they scored their equaliser and I don't even support them! Was one of they games and I only saw the bits in between the hoops game!
larssonSE7EN a very interesting point as I edited my input just as I was about to send but it said the only negative tonight was that both Scotts struggle with their first touch but they bring other things to the team.
Thats scarey. The reason I did not post it was it was a kind of sitting on the fence statement.
I used to convince myself that rugby park is one of our hoo-doo grounds, but thats something like 13 straight wins there. more hoo-doo's like that please.
Anything to wipe the smile off Jim Jeffries' face! Oh....
I was shocked at the ease with which our players..skillfully first time passed through the Killie defense...leaving them scratching thur heids, astonisment.( Whit? run that by me, again..ed)( Ye're right... how about this, then?)
I was astonished..it was the Killie Defense that wud, shocked~
It has been a long while coming, but I believe that Celtic have got the idea,at last.(whit wid that be, then?...ed)
Dinnae gie the Ba' away... Cheaply!
Mebbe, Bhoys Town, is mair that a country resort... efter awe.
See whit Celtic kin dae, when the pit their mind tae it?
That's Two games noo, where Celtic passed their way tae glory.
When wull it end?
Somehow, I think that this time it is no a false dawn.
I have been critical of McDonald since the start of the season, but tonight he looked lean and mean. Thought we seen glimpses of the Scott McDonald of last season tonight.
Thought he played well in the first half. alright in the second.
Jeffries and Kilmarnock got what they deserved. Tried the rough bully boy tatics tonight and it never worked. Still can't believe Invincinble's assault on Hinkel went un punished, then Hamills GBH on Brown on the second. Something from WWF.

Was I the only one glad to see Nakamura losing the rag and getting booked? From that moment I felt he would do something special. For someone so inscrutable, he needs to be emotionally involved with the team to do well. Thought he had a great first half - beautiful touches and intelligent play. We can't afford to lose players like that at any stage. Well done Shunsuke!
One we quibble. Was going to say Donati played well but he still needs to wake up sometimes. Don't know what it is with him but to see such sloppiness in an otherwise technically superior player is....well, irritating! He needs to be more open-minded when it comes to the Scottish game.
Beautiful third goal. Overall, the first stirrings of real passion from the team - and perhaps a glimmer of hope for next Wednesday.
heading over to the Man U game. Do the CQN squad meet up in BB's before euro games?
On tonights game..shocking tactics but not surprising from that bunch tonight, glad to see the bhoys rise above it..also pleasing to see, Skoosh take a non professional attitude towards the kicking Naka took..i really believe, he (skoosh) has all the attributes to be our Roy Keane.
Re; Bauer....in The Melbourne Cup....He is Mad Rush's Stable Mate ....he Won the Geelong Cup last week which is a good Pointer to 'The Cup' he is 17/1 here and 16/1 with PP....
Geelong Cup Winners are Good EW Bet's in 'The Cup' so @ 16/1 He has a Good EW Chance IMHO....

Goal for Celtic, 1-3, 50 minutes, the Green Garincha.'
What an incredible, startling and slightly amusing status you've dished out there Paul:)
Aiden contributed well tonight and a cracking finish inside the post to complete a brilliant goal. Same again next week will go a long way......
If you are still getting stick from Rangers` fans about our defeat by Man U, perhaps you could remind them of how they fared against a Utd team not as good as the one we faced. This report was from the BBC website, normally quite reluctant to criticize Rangers.
Man Utd crush sad Rangers
Photos from Old Trafford
Man Utd 3-0 Rangers
Manchester United moved to the brink of the Champions League knockout stage with a comprehensive dismissal of Rangers at Old Trafford.
In-form Diego Forlan set the Premiership champions on the way to a double over their Scottish counterparts with a spectacular goal after five minutes.
Ferguson hails "fantastic" Keane
And Ruud van Nistelrooy ended his barren spell with strikes either side of the interval to leave Alex McLeish's side well beaten.
Rangers must now fight secure their own place in the next phase of the Champions League with United poised to qualify in comfort.
Player ratings
As a so-called "Battle of Britain" it was a one-sided affair, with a joyous Old Trafford crowd taunting the Rangers fans about their Premiership pretensions long before the end.
KEY MOMENTS
5 mins: Forlan puts Manchester United ahead
42 mins: Van Nistelrooy doubles Manchester United's lead
59 mins: Van Nistelrooy gets his second and United's third
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson went for an attacking formation - with Forlan alongside Van Nistelrooy, and Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo raiding down the flanks.
And it was a move that reaped an instant reward when Forlan put United ahead in clinical fashion.
Roy Keane's cross was only partially cleared and Forlan took full advantage to fire a crisp right-foot volley past Stefan Klos.
Rangers were off the pace as United remained on cruise control, although Michael Mols should have done better when he found space from Michael Ball's pass.
Ball was in action to clear off the line from Giggs before United doubled their advantage three minutes before half-time.
Ronaldo's deep cross was met by Giggs, and when Forlan's volley rattled the bar, Van Nistelrooy scored via a fortunate rebound.
Fantastic goal by Forlan and his general play was pretty good

There was no luck required when United went three ahead on the hour, with Van Nistelrooy poaching to turn Giggs' free-kick past Klos from close range.
It gave Ferguson the opportunity to rest key players such as Giggs, Van Nistelrooy and Forlan ahead of the crucial trip to Liverpool.
United goalkeeper Tim Howard was virtually a redundant figure, only troubled once by Ball's free-kick.
And for Rangers, it was a sobering experience as United exerted complete supremacy over the Scots, who now face an uphill struggle to qualify from the group stage.
Man Utd: Howard, G Neville, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Fortune, Ronaldo, P Neville, Keane, Giggs (Bellion 67), Forlan (Kleberson 67), Van Nistelrooy (Fletcher 77).
Subs not used: Carroll, Butt, Djemba-Djemba, O'Shea.

Rangers boss Alex McLeish
"We were well beaten by a top, top side"

Great performance tonight from the Celts. Passing into feet was a delight as was all round movement. Killie were just cluggers. The Celtic fans were magnificent all game. Supported the team and did not give the laptop loyal the opportunity they crave. MOTM Celtic !
Well done my team and well done my CSC. Wee telly in the corner (well 42" is small compared to what happens on the big one !) all set up for the Bhoys and didn't they do well ? Thoroughly enjoyed tonight's performance apart from the sand-dancer's !!! As predicted by me, who predicted that team before kick-off !!??
Caught the last 5 mins of the Arse' chucking it all away and was delighted they did, sorry WG, them is the brakes :o))
And another thing. How come I can walk to my CSC in 15 mins, but it takes me about 20 to walk back ??? Need to work that one out some time !
Just back from the game. Decent atmosphere due to support all being in the one stand.
Comfortable victory apart from when it went to 2-1 but it was the scoreline that made things possibly uncomfortable rather than the way the game was going.
Aiden got a deserved MOTM. And, of course, Caldwell strolled through the game in defence. A decent performance all round by the team.
Heard the manager's interview. He explained Naka's booking..."Naka told the ref that he had been fouled 4 times...It was only 3 so he got booked for being stupid"
A smashing performance by the Bhoys tonight.
Caldwedino was MOTM closely followed by Skippydino and Skooshidino.
Caldwell has been a revelation this season and if he was Spanish / French / Italian / Brazilian and we had paid £5 million for him we would be raving about his coolness under pressure, the way he always tries to find a man when he has the ball and the general intelligence he shows.
I hate to count chickens and we have to go to Greyskull and win next visit and we have Tynecastle this week but 4IAR is a distinct possibility.
That was a joy to watch tonight, some nice football played.
I didn't like the way Kilmarnock played the game, some dirty tactics employed by smiler Jeffries.I think he took off Wright because he wasn't kicking enough legs, and put on Skelton who kicked everything in sight.
Naka took some kicking in a five minute period,no wonder he was an angry man,I don't know how the Ref? let them away with it.
Anyone notice The owner of Babbity Bowsters sitting in the row below big Yogi Hughes,I always knew he was a Tim.

Brilliant, entertaining show from the Bhoys. I've seen more great football from the team this season than in the last 2 seasons rolled together. It's fantastic to watch quick, one touch passing. The skilful players whom we have great expectations of are rising to the occasion and beginning to show their quality on a regular basis. I have high hopes for the season - and being entertained in the process. This type of football is what will gradually fill the stadium again each week.
On a different topic and excuse me if this has been covered in earlier blogs this week. I watched the BBC early evening news (Scotland) and there was a report of a 'friendly' game between some journos and some Scottish politicians. The politicos were winning 6-2 early in the second half. They had 3 men sent off and the Ref abandoned the game. It seems the politicians were kicking 7 bells out of our fair-minded fans with typewriters and Wee Chick came in for some special treatment - almost had his ankle broken - 'it was a straight leg tackle, he tried to do me' moaned Chico.
I thought for large parts of tonights match that Aiden was very poor. His good points were a well struck shot from the right side of the penatly box in the first half.A sublime pass inside there right back ,and his finish for his goal.
However i thought that he gave the ball away cheaply far too often. He also did it in dangerous areas ,and far too frequently he makes the wrong decision of when to pass the ball and when to take men on.
He is the most unintelligent, highly skillfull player, i can ever remember in a Celtic shirt.
I hoped that he would learn from the master class he got at the hands of Man U last week.
I hoped that he could see that quick one touch slick passing ,and movement ,hurts teams more than running with the ball.
Infact that was the way the team created his goal tonight.
I am so disappointed in how he little he has progressed ,so far this season.
He is in danger of ruining his career. He just doesn't know when to part with the ball.
It's a pity because if he mixed it up a bit more ,defenders wouldn't know what he was going to do.
He has the close control of a genius ,and the football brain of a nine year old,in a packed playground.
Just read back a little and it seems the CQN would concur.
They tried to kick us af the baw
We played football.
pass marks to all - Mark Wilson is finding his way back and I rate him. Another coming back from threatening career injury (TCI from now on if you work in a call centre/marketing/advertising/sales environment) is BJK!! That's Big John Kennedy for the less enlightened (see the trick there - they create a negative, we turn it to a positive)
He scored last night and is getting rave revues, in arguably, the most competitive league in Europe right now. ... . IF we get him back to full fitness it will be like signing a £6-10mill player at least.
One other point of caution.Yet again a team puts a tall player against our smallest defender.Wilson was beaten to the header and from the knockdown Killie scored.Mark Wilson is a fine footballer but too small for a defender, and not the answer at left or right back.
Robson was raped for pace on Saturday and we lost a goal from the left back position.Has anyone mentioned this?
I disagree m8, tonight I thought Aiden was getting back on song as he has had a sluggish start to the campaign and theres no doubt in my mind he is Celtics best player.
Maloney or McGeady I'd pick Aiden 7.54 times out of ten and I think wee Maloney is class also btw.
Europes where this squad is geared for and it's just a shame we hit the worst group of them all.
The age of the team augurs well and hopefully we can lift that Uefa Cup which will provide a springboard to future deeper runs in the CL. As I always say to my man Pat, Rome was not built in a day.
Agree with the comments about trying to kick us off the park and they had certainly targeted specific players.
Interesting, although predictable, that when PH came on and Skoosh moved out wide right they didn't seem to feel they had so many "easy" targets.
Paul Hartley, who I thought played very well again, could have sorted out any of them and they seemed to know it. He is certainly not Bertie Auld, but he is the nearest we currently have in midfield when it all gets a bit tasty.
Think Gary Caldwell also has a deliberate and controlled nasty streak in defence. Nice to see.
Plus the football throughout the team is good to watch.
Still looking good for the SPL title and still don't care about the other tournaments (well, this year anyway).
I see your points but hopefully both the young lads will put in player of the year performances again in tandem for the good of the club and bring plenty silverware whilst they try to infuence matches as much as possible.
Gallowgate
Re your post on the previous thread about Rangers and TFS. It must be a Gallowgate thing but I agree with all that you say. Indeed I think it goes wider and deeper. I wrote this on KDS.
Sanctions only deal with the symptoms not the cause.
The will to deal with the cause has to be there in a number of places.
Rangers themselves.
Scottish Authorities.
Scottish media.
Us
What evidence have we seen that the will exists in any of these places?
Scottish Authorities: These break down into Government/Police and Football.
Government
To be fair to the Government they introduced anti sectarian policies which created justification for even having a debate at Government level, but the effectiveness of these policies needs to be reviewed in my opinion. In doing so both Rangers and the Scottish Media would not come out of such a review smelling of roses.
Alex Salmond said somewhere that the Government will be taking action but I have not seen any more on that. Attention has quite rightly been focussed on saving banks (remember when the S was at the end of the first word as well as the second? ) but some pressure has to be maintained on asking what is being done now in light of the TFS experience and suggesting that a review is necessary.
This would best come from supporters of McConnell's original policies in government if any still exist. Brian Wilson former Labour MP now writing for The Independent might know which levers to pull for example.
I can understand reluctance to do a review because the findings would not be palatable for some, but more needs to be done to stop this happening again or if it does, stopping it gathering any momentum.
(More accurate less biased media reporting could play a role for example - Compare J Traynor 4/5 weeks ago and then this week changing tack, this is the best example of a failure to stifle the oxygen of approval/non condemnation on which such vilenes depends for life.)
Police Authorities have finally given the appearance of action but so far not one arrest for singing TFS has taken place. Why? Why has it taken so long to enforce the law? More questions for a review of policy.
Football Authorities? Don't make me laugh. How can we expect any leadership from there when there are no true leaders? Much more transparency on procedure is required to overcome the lack of leadership and make sure they stick to procedure and do not try to undermine it.
Rangers. Whether a Government review that puts Rangers under the spotlight (it would also apply to Celtic but we have nothing to fear) were to happen or not Rangers really should take a good look at themselves, their policies and the thinking behind such policies.
Just what do Rangers stand for?
Are they proud of all of that?
What is worth preserving?
What no longer serves the club?
Can they change?
How do they encourage and bring about that change?
Even in reading that you can see how daunting a task it appears to non Rangers observers and so their reluctance for introspection, but this is an essential requirement for real and lasting change. It is the metanoia I have referred to already.
The Scottish Media.
The first casualty should be their idea or policy of "balanced reporting".
This requires that for every tit there is a tat. We all know who the biggest T has been recently , but seriously this policy simply prevents real issues being addressed.
Not only does it allow avoidance, some of the tat is pure made up tat, incidental things given the full headline treatment in order to produce the appearance of balance that the internal media policy requires.
It is self fulfilling and serves no one but the media and does nothing to encourage the idea that the real issue is being addressed or taken seriously.
Examples of real balanced (broadsheet) and unreal balanced (redtops) reporting have littered the media landscape in the last few months. A review should not have far to look.
Finally US
Do we want to help and encourage them to change or are we just happy to feel superior on the higher morale ground without reaching out to help raise them up?
Another good win at a very cold Rugby Park. Good performances from many of our maligned players. Aiden carries the ball into the opposition half better than any player we've had since Petrov left. He intelligently ducks inside challenges and was awarded MOTM at the game.
Disappointed to see the sour comments on Aiden tonight (and Mick?: even when he's not playing he gets criticised).
Still, the mood of some in our support was summed up for me in the 92nd minute when Scott Brown messed up his shot in attack. A "Celtic" fan shouted at him, "That's the best thing you've done tonight, Brown!"
Truly, we are a perverse support in these golden times.
Strachan: crazy that Nakamura was one who was booked....
Gordon Strachan hailed the courage of Shunsuke Nakamura in dealing with Kilmarnock's physical approach and helping to guide Celtic into the last four of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.
The Japanese midfielder scored a brilliant free kick on the stroke of half time to give his side a two-goal lead. It was his seventh strike against the Rugby Park side in his 3 years in Scotland and came moments after he was booked in bizarre circumstances.
The 30-year-old was brought down by Craig Bryson and, after getting to his feet, pointed at the four spots on the pitch where he had been fouled previously. Craig Thomson, the referee, duly the Japanese midfielder for dissent.
"It was crazy that he was the one who was booked," said the Celtic manager. "He pointed four times, but the referee must have booked him because it was only three times he had actually been fouled. I always tell the players to get on with it and not lose focus. Naka put the ball down and put it in the back of the net. That's the best answer to people who try to take you out of the game. There was a good chance of him being injured tonight."
Nakamura was duly replaced at half time by Paul Hartley. "We kept him in at half time because he was hobbling. He couldn't go back on. The problem is above his knee," added Strachan.
The Celtic manager was delighted with the performance of his side, who opened the scoring early through Scott McDonald and rounded it off through Aiden McGeady in the second half, after Kilmarnock had threatened to come back into the game.
"I am happy that we got through and also happy about the performance against a team who are third in the league and were desperate to beat us. We handled everything tonight," said Strachan.
Jim Jefferies, the Kilmarnock manager, will be glad to see the back of Nakamura should he leave in January. "I'd take him to the airport if he wants to leave in January," smiled Jefferies. "He's done it a few times to us but he has done it to a lot of clubs, even Manchester United. He has fantastic technique and ability. It happened just before half time which was a bad time to lose a goal."
Jefferies praised his side's effort after they came back into the game through a Danny Invincibile goal in the second half, but lamented their lack of concentration at key moments.
"We gifted them the first goal," he said. "The smallest man in the box scored the header and that was disappointing. You can't give goals away that cheaply against Celtic. We got in and about them in the second half and got it back to 2-1 but we didn't do the right things at that point. We should have put them under pressure after we scored but we didn't do that and then they broke away and scored a good goal.
"I have no complaints about the effort and commitment of my players, but the third goal was a killer for us. If we had held on a bit longer then we might have got an equaliser."
Gary Caldwell, who captained Celtic in the absence of Stephen McManus, expressed his desire to remain at Celtic long term following the opening of new contract talks.
"I've enjoyed every minute and I'd love to stay here for a long time," he said. "When you come to Celtic you realise what a big club they are and it is a place where you would like to stay for your whole career, and, hopefully, that is going to be the case."
Missed the game tonight/this morning due to work commitments. Can anyone enlighten me on the performance of Darren O'Dea as he doesnt seem to be getting mentioned much.
Thanks for that. Its good to hear as I have high hopes that Darren will have a big part to play this season. I am worried though that this fixation with McManus will lead to him leaving.
Darren was very competent but Killie were not a great attacking force so no great chance to shine. Just Like Loovens, he did what he could to put pressure on the McManus position but both need to be tested defensively against better opposition before we can say definitively that either of them should oust Mick from a starting spot.
One thing in Darren's favour is that he was one of the first, along with Scott Brown, to go across to threaten Killie players when Naka was being kicked repeatedly. They needed telling and Darren told them.
I thought the Rearrangers statement on The Famine song was a complete wind up.
I am totally dumbfounded and lost for words.
Another example of Rangers Fc burying their head in the sand.
Unless they tackle the cancer of sectarianism and racism head on they will never get rid of it.
It's time they showed a bit of leadership instead of pandering to the bigots in their support.
Their statement is akin to saying 'We at Rangers football club fully support our fans in their singing of the famine song, but listen guys the polis are gona shop yeez cos a them fenian B#'#rd's complaining all the time, so be warned, p.s and if ye happen to slit a tim's throat on the way home (which is pretty much okay aswell) the polis might arrest ye fir that anaw but as we said, we think you're all great so that's why we're warning yez all just incase..
Celtic's Nakamura praised by manager over reaction to bullying tactics
GLASGOW (AFP) – Celtic manager Gordon Strachan praised Shunsuke Nakamura's bravery after the Japan midfielder answered the Kilmarnock bullies by helping his side into the Scottish League Cup semi-finals.
Nakamura suffered some heavy tackles at Rugby Park on Wednesday but received little protection from referee Craig Thomson, who added insult to injury by booking the star for complaining about the challenges.
But the 30-year-old didn't let the rough treatment affect him and responded by scoring a superb first half free-kick after Scott McDonald headed Celtic into a 15th-minute lead.
Nakamura had proved his point and Strachan decided to take him off at half-time to avoid a serious injury.
Rarely can a match have had such a fitting sponsor. Celtic swept into the last four of the Co-operative Insurance Cup last night, but Gordon Strachan had to remove Shunsuke Nakamura from the ugliness around him at Rugby Park as the ultimate insurance policy for the Champions League game with Manchester United.
The Celtic manager feared that the little Japan midfield player was in danger of severe damage in a feisty quarter-final tie and took him off at half-time after Nakamura had given the visiting team a 2-0 lead. Although Danny Invincibile reduced the deficit in the second half, Aiden McGeady swiftly restored that advantage with a sublime finish.
This is the club whose players indulged in deliberate and cynical time-wasting - kicking the ball into the stands and into the streets - at Rugby Park in 2003 against Celtic, who were chasing goals to clinch the SPL title while Rangers were winning at home to Dunfermline.
Now, a week away from a crucial Champions League game at home to Manchester United, with a number of important players already ruled out through injury, Celtic come up against a bunch of hammer-throwers who were clearly instructed by their management team to target individual Celtic players and cause them serious injury.
A vicious assault on Hinkel which went unpunished plus the persistent rough-house tactics used against Nakamura, McGeady and Maloney, with no protection from the referee, all serve to show what we as a club are up against in Scotland.
I’ve always been an admirer of Scott Brown. I knew that he was a player not playing to his potential, but like most, I was ignorant of the tragic reason that no doubt contributed to his ‘below expectation’ performances. He was often much maligned and it was sad to see some posters question his commitment and integrity, granted, following some rather lacklustre performances.
Please don’t take this as an in your face ‘I told you so’, it is not intended as such.
However, following some of the blatant, and the latent, criticisms of the player, do you now think that he is worthy of a first team start, or do you still think he has a ways to go?
Some lovely stuff last night against an admittedly poor Killie.
However I was overjoyed to see Captain Caldwell in his rightful place.
He has had his critics on this blog but myself and a few others have stood by him consistantly.
I've said it before and I will do so again "Gary Caldwell is a player!"
I have a feeling though his elevation to his rightful place may only be short lived.:-(
Broony was excellent last night. Loved his big grin to the Killie fans when he lured Skelton into an atrocious late challenge.
Aiden's dancing feet and quick change of pace was a pleasure to watch. He may make it onto Strictly Come Dancing next year...he certainly led Pascali a merry dance.
Didn't get a chance to log onto the blog last night, and most people have said everything I was going to anyway - thought Aiden, Skoosh and the new Captain Fantastic were great, everyone else pretty good (special mention for Skippy, looking a wee bit fitter and sharper these days, must be looking over his shoulder at those after his place), and Killie are a bunch of dirty cloggers with no fans. Some cracking entertainment on Match of the Day as well - nice to see Berbatov picking up some skills tips from Aiden, though not looking forward to seeing him on Wednesday :-(
Last night was a great example of the strength of our entire squad, hark back to this time last season as we entered our winter of the curse of the Celtic injury list.
A victory over Hearts on Sunday and the league program for the remainder of the month has an interesting look;
Motherwell (H)
Kilmarnock (H)
Hamilton (A)
St Mirren (A)
ICT (H)
Who wouldn't bet on full points from that lot.
It's got to be 18 points from November and a growing gap at the top for me.
The up and coming program has a favourable look but we need only look back 12 months to see points dropped against every team on that list bar Accies. And given the CL games in amongst this I hope there is no complacency - the hard work and great results of October have as you say been achieved with grit and no small amount of entertainment with the squad being used well.
BTW - great punt last night - not being a gambler it always pleases me to hear of a bhoy taking a few schecks from the bookies.Well done.
Gordon J
The world will have a rosy glow today - congrats. I watched the game last night and enjoyed the thrills. A bit strange given the circumstances but what a celebration at the end. Baseball over and out for the season (NFL still only halfway through)
I thought Celts were very good last night and the passing game was awesome several times especially leading to the 3rd goal.
I can't believe some of the negative comments though, there are still weaknesses in the team but it wasn't a full strength team out there, the point being if we have a strong pool of players maybe we can win the League do a bit of damage in Europe (Uefa cup) and win that treble that Paul67 is after, so heads up lads n lassies....walk tall.
A bit harsh. I remember losing headed goals to every Rangers forward (Hately, Johnstone, Cousin) who drifted off our centre backs and targeted their jump against our small full backs.
Close your eyes and you'll see Grant, Morris, and McNamara losing goals the exact same way. And last night, the player who beat Mark Wilson did not score; he nodded it down to a spot where 2 killie players were unmarked by our central defence.
I'd still like a taller full back, by the way, but Mark Wilson is not the only sinner here.
We all know about the LB position and I think it's unfair to target one player when there have been at least three tried in that position with the same result. I believe all managers know of this weakness and target their attacks accordingly.
I'm hoping the board will improve in this area at the next transfer window.
LAst night showed the football the munchkins can play and I thought as well as goal #3 there was a sustained flowing move with Hinkel crossing low into the box that Cillian almost put away too.
As you say - no need to be negative about anything last night given the overall circumstances.
I see Jeffries sayiong he will be glad to see the back of Naka when he goes . I bet Nak will miss his scowling face and the kickings he gets from their plodders.
Technically its not a freeview area its a digital signal you are looking for and I thought that almost everywhere had one. Are you sure there is not one in your area. Where is that?
If the answer is no - then I dont think it will work but there should be a digital signal wherever you live soon as they plan on switching off the old signal next year I think.
How Killie finished with 11 on the field is one of the great mysteries. The challenge by Invincable on Hinkel was very crude. Perhaps the ref didn`t fancy drastic action in a televised match with all the scrutiny that would bring. I suppose it was good practice before a visit to Tynecastle!
There are two transmitters that serve Dundee - One is to the North of the city towards Forfar, the other sits pretty much on the waterfront, but across the River Tay in Tayport.
The North transmitter is fine, but the one in Tayport is currently not strong enough and therefore in a nutshell, anyone living North of Tannadice and Dens can receive digital, and any others going down the hill towards the city centre cant.
This farcical decision is not being reviewed until whenever the digital switchover is taking place.
Did you mean practice for the referee? The only worrying thing about Tyncastle is that Craig Thomson is the man in the middle again. Hope he does better than he did last night!
regarding the loss of a goal last night I too blamed Wilson at the time. But it might be worth remembering that we are without a big striker who usually comes back to defend corners thus taking some pressure off of the central defence and full backs. Big Sammi or JVOH may have helped in that department.
All round an excellent result and a good performance from our YOUNG team. We look a totally different proposition to the team who limped out of the LC in the last two seasons, especially coming forward. mobility is the word. even against the worst elements of scotlands hammer throwers.
excellent performance last night but IMO last nights result doesnt matter one iota, sundays does, so disappointing to see naka limp out. arguable whether he would start at tynecastle anyway but i suspect he would have done, and may still do, as we attempt to keep this 4-2-3-1 formation for the next 2 crucial games
having said that some superb football last night and 3rd goal was a joy to watch
It looked last night that Smiler Jeffries sent Skelton on last night with the sole instruction to kick as many Celtic players as possible and particularly Naka.
Good to see that we more or less came our unscathed (I think GS and Naka were more making a point than serious injury). Overall good performance and good to see squad players contributing positively and Scott MacD findng his form again (thought he done well on Saturday and was unlucky not to score).
Swinecastle different proposition and with the gibbering hordes rabidly salivating down from the stands and a more compact pitch, a more robust team is called for but I am sure GS knows that.
Kitalba: To my mind Scott Brown has been one of our best players this season. I thought he was immense against Hibs last week and he was tireless last night. He was right at the heart of all the impressive football we played. Granted he gave the ball away a few times but he is still young and I think he should be one of the first names on the team sheet every week on current form.
Last night was one of our most impressive performances of the season so far given the shocking tactics empliyed by Jim "Get in aboot them" Jefferies. To play the football we did against some appalling tackles deserves immense credit.
Boruc: Good safe hands throughout and calm on the ball. Thought he could have been a bit more decisive at the goal but a great save from a Taouil free kick.
Defence: I thought Caldwell and O'Dea played well. Hinkel picked up where he left off on Saturday (would still like to see him have the courage of his convictions and use the pace he seems to have in his locker). Wilson did very well despite playing out of position (thought he could have been a bit stronger at the first goal).
Midfield: For me, Aiden was superb last night. He gave the ball away at times and needs to be careful where he tries his trickery but he burst away from players all night and was brave cutting in front of the Killie hatchet men. Brown has a really good football brain and all the one touch stuff we played came through him and Aiden. The move for the goal was awesome. Shaun didn't have his best game last night but stuck to the task, as did Naka despite that thug Skelton being brought on purely to kick him around.
Up front: Skippy scored one, won the free kick for the second and was involved in the move for the third. A great performance. Add that to the two goals he set up on Saturday and you would have to say he is hitting the form we know he is capable of. Could do with him rediscovering the hat-trick touch from last season. Sheridan looks confident on the ball and a real prospect.
Strachan: Credit to the wee man for playing footballers against hatchet men and asking them to pass the ball. Great football and I hope we can carry the winning streak on into Sunday's game. November looks a more difficult month for the dark side, Sunday's game apart.

If the situation was reversed we would want anyone to beat your team so its ok for a gers fan to do likewise.

Always have slight worries about any trip to Rugby Park but recent years should really be leaving me in a very relaxed position. If we play as we did for our last visit 0-3 should be the result. Let's hope so.

EHIY,
I´m sure guys like Brian Mc Lean ;-) and Chris Burke have already faced similar issues.
That´s not happened. The booing is proof of that.
Hail Hail

BBC Scotland will provide live television coverage of Kilmarnock's Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final tie against Celtic on 29 October.
The 1945 GMT kick off will also be streamed on the BBC Sport website and broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland.
This seems to imply the match is being shown on the BBC website.

Half time:
Kilmarnock 0-2 Celtic
Celtic’s passing game is on form, plenty of two-touch movements, although the focus we would have if Samaras was playing is missing.
McDonald did well for his goal but it was very badly defended. Naka’s goal was one of his top 15 with the club, in other words, it was very good.
Kilmarnock have never threatened.
The rumours are true; Donati has played well.
mitchell bricking it at the free kick

2-0 HT and looking comfortable. Don't think Artur has had a save to make.
McGeady running strongly, Donati passing well in midfield and Caldwell dominant at the back.
The Killie tackling is the concern, we don't need any more injuries.
Killie cloggers!
Scoring 2 free kicks in 2 minutes
That would've been something to remember
2-0 half-time Celtic playing some nice touches when they are not getting hack to pieces
Celtic Bob,
To be honest I think his earlier smile may well have been one of the famous killie pies coming back on him.

The home fans seem to be able to articulate only one word namely, BOO !!!! At least we have Robbo and Hartley if they want to get tough. You think soor-face JJ is bad but have a look at BB pacing behind him like a caged animal. Priceless
I don't know if anyone saw this earlier.

According to soccerbase.com, Naka now has 24 goals in 105 for us. Doesn't have full career stats for some reason.
Jim Jeffries was not happy with the ref at half time

It's a good Celtic pub. It's a little expensive but it is the centre of Bath so it's to be expected. I've had some great nights in there watching games: Spartak Moscow, the league clincher, beating Man U and the last Rangers game were brilliant in particular. Sadly the numbers haven't been as strong for the European games this season for whatever reason. Hopefully there will be a decent crowd in for the Man U game though

Boruc comes and stops, goal to the tractor boys
Goal came from the softest of free-kicks. We'd never have got it at the other end.
Goal from a free kick that was never a free kick.
The Ayrshire cloggers have been allowed to kick their way back into this game.
It looked very much like the Killie player was climbing all over Wilson for the header down at the goal.

More goals in this for us. The game is stretching and they are going to be vulnerable to our pace.
Nice drag back Artur.

Andreas has not been tested but is very composed in possession - looks confident
Scott B drifted out of the game for a while - been on fire last 10 and central to the brilliant 3rd goal - unbelievable energy

We seem very prepared to play the ball into players under pressure all over the pitch - even in dangerous places - a change in approach?
Controversial footwork by Boruc.
Great chance for Cilian....should have scored with a header.
We have controlled this game from moment one.
84 mins gone and no failures in a Celtic jersey.
I think this is some of the best skillful play that Celtic has produced this season, great to watch.
from beeb on the arsenal spurs game

Good game tonight following on from Saturday.
Massimo looks the player he was at the start of last season when we get the ball on the ground and tonight there were plenty of players able to pass it onto.
When I heard jefferies before the game that his team would get in among us before the game I knew what their tactics would be.
Great victory and result tonight.
Let's start SUPPORTING more
Let the people sing

larssonSE7EN a very interesting point as I edited my input just as I was about to send but it said the only negative tonight was that both Scotts struggle with their first touch but they bring other things to the team.

When is the Semi Final Draw ?
Interesting if it is a Celtic v Rangers to see if they (Rangers) hold on to a few until then end of Jan to play in it ?
Similar for Celtic with Naka if current speculation has any foundation.

Treble is ON
If you are still getting stick from Rangers` fans about our defeat by Man U, perhaps you could remind them of how they fared against a Utd team not as good as the one we faced.
Fantastic goal by Forlan and his general play was pretty good
From Red Devil 4 Life
Have your say on 606
There was no luck required when United went three ahead on the hour, with Van Nistelrooy poaching to turn Giggs' free-kick past Klos from close range.

Now back to read the thread.

Vman, aye, two games in the Spring will do it.
Just Champion, yes, a few minutes out.
Just back from the game, haven't read any posts yet so unsure what anybody else made of the game.
I thought it was a comfortable win for us we played well without being spectacular.
Caldwell, Brown & McGeady stood out for me.
Also it was bloody cold.
What happened to the Gooners?????
4-2 up with 2mins to go!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any further info on this?
Great play and a great win

MOTM by a country mile was Gary Caldwell
Does anybody have any info on Lee Naylor?
Is he injured or have we just dropped him?
Just read back a little and it seems the CQN would concur.
They tried to kick us af the baw
We played football.
pass marks to all - Mark Wilson is finding his way back and I rate him. Another coming back from threatening career injury (TCI from now on if you work in a call centre/marketing/advertising/sales environment) is BJK!! That's Big John Kennedy for the less enlightened (see the trick there - they create a negative, we turn it to a positive)
He scored last night and is getting rave revues, in arguably, the most competitive league in Europe right now. ... . IF we get him back to full fitness it will be like signing a £6-10mill player at least.
wwmoml
One other point of caution.Yet again a team puts a tall player against our smallest defender.Wilson was beaten to the header and from the knockdown Killie scored.Mark Wilson is a fine footballer but too small for a defender, and not the answer at left or right back.
Robson was raped for pace on Saturday and we lost a goal from the left back position.Has anyone mentioned this?
We need a left back.

Over the piece i would have Maloney over Aiden.
I was not overly impressed by either tonight.
See opinions?

Wel terusten Ghuys and Ghals
4inarow and counting.
Cheers
Alex
Agree 2 disagree m8 ;)
I see your points but hopefully both the young lads will put in player of the year performances again in tandem for the good of the club and bring plenty silverware whilst they try to infuence matches as much as possible.
Cladwell, for Captain..Sorry, McManus but both O'Dea and Loovens should be in the team before you..On footballing ability.
We have better leaders on the park than mcmanus..Caldwell being one..and Scott Brown being a future captain.
Feel bad about being a McManus basher but as i've a lot of respect for the big man (not that he cares, right enough..lol)
supercelt
I agree about McManus, he is not a captain, clapping your hands & shouting "C'MON" every now & then doesn't do it for me.
I think we truly lack leadership, the only player who you hear shouting all the time is Boruc but I'm not a fan of making you keeper captain.
Nearly time for the baseball ....

I'm all set for Game 5 Part 2.
You confident?
It's difficult to know what to think given the situation.
If we can score first tonight I think we will do it.

Hey, if the Phillies can win this one, we're outta here for the season!
Good start for the Phillies
Do we need some form of metanoia too?
3-2 Phillies at the end of the longest sixth innings in history!

Michael
Solid, did what it says on the tin.
Auldheid
Thanks for that. Its good to hear as I have high hopes that Darren will have a big part to play this season. I am worried though that this fixation with McManus will lead to him leaving.
Michael Collins
Darren was very competent but Killie were not a great attacking force so no great chance to shine. Just Like Loovens, he did what he could to put pressure on the McManus position but both need to be tested defensively against better opposition before we can say definitively that either of them should oust Mick from a starting spot.
One thing in Darren's favour is that he was one of the first, along with Scott Brown, to go across to threaten Killie players when Naka was being kicked repeatedly. They needed telling and Darren told them.
Rays level at 3-3, middle of the seventh.

From: The Daily Mail
Celtic get unwanted kicks in victory
Paul67/notafanofstan/and others,
I’ve always been an admirer of Scott Brown.
Bhoys

Cheers for the Bauer info, Im thinking its time my twice weekly Caulderbauer 1st goal bet comes up, was 40/1 lastnight.
Hopefully Horsenbauer does the trick.
12/5 to win v Man U in the early prices.
A victory over Hearts on Sunday and the league program for the remainder of the month has an interesting look;
Motherwell (H)
Kilmarnock (H)
Hamilton (A)
St Mirren (A)
ICT (H)
Who wouldn't bet on full points from that lot.
It's got to be 18 points from November and a growing gap at the top for me.
Celt33
Celt33
The up and coming program has a favourable look but we need only look back 12 months to see points dropped against every team on that list bar Accies. And given the CL games in amongst this I hope there is no complacency - the hard work and great results of October have as you say been achieved with grit and no small amount of entertainment with the squad being used well.
BTW - great punt last night - not being a gambler it always pleases me to hear of a bhoy taking a few schecks from the bookies.Well done.

The world will have a rosy glow today - congrats. I watched the game last night and enjoyed the thrills. A bit strange given the circumstances but what a celebration at the end. Baseball over and out for the season (NFL still only halfway through)
has there ever in celtic's history been a defender so inept at dealing with cross balls than mark wilson
spikeysauldman
He is not the best in the air granted, but that was a foul on him at their goal last night and never a foul by GC for the FK in the first place.
Morning to all hoopsters
I thought Celts were very good last night and the passing game was awesome several times especially leading to the 3rd goal.
I can't believe some of the negative comments though, there are still weaknesses in the team but it wasn't a full strength team out there, the point being if we have a strong pool of players maybe we can win the League do a bit of damage in Europe (Uefa cup) and win that treble that Paul67 is after, so heads up lads n lassies....walk tall.
vmhan aw
spikeysauldman
A bit harsh. I remember losing headed goals to every Rangers forward (Hately, Johnstone, Cousin) who drifted off our centre backs and targeted their jump against our small full backs.
Close your eyes and you'll see Grant, Morris, and McNamara losing goals the exact same way. And last night, the player who beat Mark Wilson did not score; he nodded it down to a spot where 2 killie players were unmarked by our central defence.
I'd still like a taller full back, by the way, but Mark Wilson is not the only sinner here.
spikeysauldman

Jinkysboy.
Not sure if you had replied or not regarding this dongle, but can you confirm you can only pick up freeview if you are in a freeview area?
Where I am in Dundee is unable to receive freeview due to the transmitter not being strong enough and no cable either.
DundeePerth
Jinkysboy.
Appreciate your help all the same though
Jinksboy
What does this dongle thingy do exactly? does it allow a PC to receive digital TV? don't you need a special card in the PC for that?

Did you mean practice for the referee? The only worrying thing about Tyncastle is that Craig Thomson is the man in the middle again. Hope he does better than he did last night!

Have a look at the foul leading to our second goal. Yep thats the one Jolly Jim Jeffries reckoned was not a foul.
regarding the loss of a goal last night I too blamed Wilson at the time.
Does anyone know when the Semi Final draw is for the league Cup ?
12th November. Matches 27/28 January.
new article posted.
Mon the hoops!
