Celtic 3-0 Kilmarnock, SPL, 12 November 2008

| | Comments (205)
Cillian Sheridan scored twice as Celtic passed their way around a Kilmarnock team who chased shadows all night.

Celtic opened smartly and missed several chances in the opening 10 minutes but it was a classic long ball in the 18th minute that finally prized Kilmarnock open.  Cillian Sheridan knocked-on a high clearance from Mark Brown in the Celtic goal to Scott McDonald, how took the pace of the ball, allowing Sheridan to spin onto it and spring clear into the box.

Clean through with 'keeper Combe to beat, Sheridan finished calmly to put Celtic into the lead.

The home team were so far ahead of Kilmarnock some slackness crept into proceedings before the second goal arrived, which left most of the crowd shuffling nervously before Sheridan pounced when Combe spilled a Massimo Donati shot to put Celtic clear.

Scott McDonald was a one-two partner for Shunsuke Nakamura to wrap things up with a third Celtic goal.

Not only did Celtic get a solid three goal win, they saw the return of Nakamura, Shaun Maloney and Giorgios Samaras from injury; light is shining brightly at the end of the injury tunnel.

ding dong do

second?

great result tonight
4 pts clear
things are on the up!

3 in a row?

4 in a row?

For those at the match

Was the Rankers result announced?

There seemed to be an audible feeling of glee being heard before the end

Martin 42,

Funny isn't it. Yet through all our injuries crisis we have just got the head down and got on with it.

Rangers balance in the team has gone now Thmopson out. Ferguson likes to be everywhere on the park. He tries to doe everything. Le Guen sussed him out, but in the end there was no discipline at their club at the manager got the hook. Apparently, coming home tonight they said that Mendes was so in effective. Why? Easy answer, Ferguson. Rangers did have a good balance to their team when Thompson played. He was left footed as well which Ferguson and Mendes are both not.

The phrase utterly utterly dominant doesn't do justice to how utterly utterly utterly dominant we were tonight. As Paul Ince might have said, it was men against foetuses.

And Noel is back on the blog!!

Top ten will do me

Gordon Strachan we salute you.

The is some rather disturbing news circulating that the Green Brigade area has been 'raided' tonight and Celtic fans ejected by stewards and Police and season cards removed like criminals because they were involved in a 'poppy' protest and has been deemed as unacceptable conduct in Celtic's eyes.

If this is true then its shocking , shocking stuff.

fintan4, no probs with that.

Celtic have gained 7 points on Rangers since Cousin was sold.

WGS, I thought Smith was out of order naming the assistant referee (with an Irish name), knowing the material their fans sing about the Irish.

Wonderbeard King of the Beards, that is the best technical advice I’ve ever heard, thanks.

Spadetim, news filtered through from Fir Park in injury time.

Dick Byrne, I was speaking to Jean, your old neighbour today!

Metzelder is a member of the whiskers commitee, although he has reached a cheekblock with his growth. The rumours that he is using nourishing follicle stimulators are wholly unfounded, he has assured me he is au natural. Ah jinkysboy, stay the pace, I had a vision when i read your last comment, I see you in 3 months looking like this

jinkysboy's future facial masterpiece

Paul67, you wont regret it. Also it will safe you in insulation costs for your servers

Paul

I heard the cardigan on radio Scotland on the way home and he stated that the official who knocked off a perfectly good goal tonight ( was it anyone) was the same linesman who didnt flag an offside goal for Skippy at CP at the end of last season.

Do you think Wattie has Girdon Strachan type notebook that he keeps a wee crib sheet on this stuff

On a serious note - do you think this influences refs and if so would you encourage WGS to become a moaner like that.

I noted he didnt mention any of the offsides for Manure against us or the fact that Boydo was diving around the Killie box like Greig Laganus.

Been off the blog for a few days and only been skimming to catch up. Good to see we've got back to the footy.

Pablo - great post on the earlier thread about getting the unity back. And enjoyed the Spiers article - he seems to be warming to his theme!

Great result tonight - and the one at Fir Park wasn't bad either...

On to 4 in a row - and the rest. Long may it continue!!

WGS

a pal of mine is a big blue nose

we got to discussing Bazza a couple of weeks ago and he was not looking forward to his return

in the ICT game the huns were 5-0 at half time ...they finished 5-0

Bazza came on after 60 mins , and , according to my pal , distrupted the whole play by rendering the midfield unworkable with his constant backward passing and insistence that every ball is played thro him
lets hope , if tonight is a portent , that he gets a long run in the team

Big Liam

Saw some guys getting taken out from that area of the GB though didnt look like more than a few

Also in the second half there was a very visible presence of stewards in the main stand lower and it looked like they went into the crowd. Anyone see what happened there?

From Fascist Fascist tonight............

That Tarrier establishment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is now working wonders, make no bones about it theses refs/linesmen etc see it as there duty to do us down.

They see it as payback time for there years of paranoia when the big bad Proddies helped The Rangers at every opportunity."

pablophanque

Hey Paul67 man, yeah, uh uh, what a great result come on!! alright. You at the game man? yeah uh hu, oww, come on, good stuff tonight man, reminds me of the good stuff I, come on, woo, yeah, alright, used to experience all the time, whoo, come on!! alright

Wonderbeard King of the Beards

If only .

Not sure I would wear the yellow tie but the beard and shades - do you really think I could achieve such a fine specimen.

Im encouraged and thank you for the motivational post.

Bhoys

Smith is a bully he`s trying the only tactic that he knows

Anyone hear Dodds on the radio tonight "def a goal ..never offside " ...the only one in the studio to take that line ...he really is a wee bluenose bar steward

Sorry it is true.

Celtic have banned fans from the stadium.

Absolute disgrace. Also the fact that they could have stopped their season cards preventing them from entering the stadium but the fact they deciding to make a public showing of them makes it more sickening. Hopefully it goes to court but probably not as they've about 15-20 ways round that one.

Disgusting treatment of our own , whatever you may think personally , they are our own.

And so the battle commences , what will be their excuse this season with no European run to handicap them.

The Cardigan made sure he stressed the linesman's name, Murphy, one of them Oirish I'd expect, lest anyone be under any doubt that yet again the unseen hand moves against the poor downtrodden, unloved, David Murray Works XI.

Big Bad John made a very subtle point on Setanta that he himself was denied 2 perfectly good onside goals against a certain team and that these things even out. He also pointed out that the flag had been raised and whistle blown before the traitor to his country rifled home to show George Burley exactly what he was missing.

Big Liam

I've just received a phone call saying exactly what you've posted. I wasn't up tonight as I had no babysitter but my brother phoned telling me this.

My wife had said on Saturday once the protestors had left their seats for the walk out that a load of stewards went up to the area and started taking notes of the seat numbers that were vacated.

IF it's true then it's shocking stuff.

Pablo

They are paranoid - big chips on their shoulders.

Our ref was crap again tonight but a 3-0 win with hopefully no injuries will do me.

Though Gavin Skeletors assault on naka was a disgrace and should have been a red card

Celtic are going through a very testing period with a squad seriously depleted by injuries.

Over by, and south of the river, blazing a trail in the hunt for a top six finish, their city rivals, Rangers, fielded the team, named below, in what for them should have been a must win game. A must win game if they hope to excert any sort of intimidating pressure on those contesting for a place in the top six.

I know there is a long way to go, and many pitfals await, but honestly, does this team have the look of champions about them?

Rangers (4-4-2): McGregor; Broadfoot, Bougherra, Weir, Papac (Whittaker 81); Davis, Ferguson, Mendes, Lafferty (Novo 76); Miller, Boyd.
Subs: Alexander, Edu, McCulloch, Loy, Shinnie.

When Watty Waistcoat starts naming and shaming my namesakes - you know things are creaking...Gotta Laugh Really...Whats yer point waistcoat ????? was the question they unsurprisingly failed to ask

And to big Jim Dwyer
The man of wire
Who was often heard to say
I'm a free born man of the USA

Wonderbeard King of the Beards, I doubt I’ve missed shaving five days in the last decade, it’s the itch....

Jinkysboy, I am sure this does not influence referees, in fact, I was delighted when I heard that from Smith.

Feed the paranoia, it is a road to ruin.

Jim Morrison, aye. I think.

jinkysboy, never fear the power a beard can hold. in no time at all your whiskers will develop the automatic respect that all beardy's achieve. before you know it jinkysboy women will fall at your feet, but tell them this. You can take that razor and go shave your legs woman, I have a beard and I am one with my hair, NOW FEEL MY WHISKERS AND SUBMIT TO THE WONDERS OF THE FOLLICLY CHOSEN ONE, just like I do

Paul, make no mistake what Smith said after the game was deliberate and dangerous. As soon as he said it I said to my wife that he was sending a not-so-coded- message to his supporters, basically 'he chopped that goal off because he's a tim'.

I doubt much will be said on this, it after all it is the dignified 'Walter' after all.

re the ejection of supporters

i trust our custodians will take a similarly robust approach to the hun hoard on their next visit ...as they spout their bigoted /racist / sectarian bile

WALTER SMITH ...HE`S LOST THE PLOT

repeat ad infinitum ..or until you get fed up

Setanta guys made the serious point that they have after all played seven games in 19 days and that did he, walter that is, feel fatigue was a factor. What planet are these guys on. We have played the same no of games, if I'm not mistaken, and not a word of it causing us any problems. We've also 11 players injured, played two tough games against Man U but as far as they are concerned its only because the orcs are tired. Absolutely nothing to do with us being a superior team of course, bar August's blip obviously.

Was panic stricken at one point. I thought Lubo had done an 01bhoy on us but luckily we got away with it.

cardiffbhoy @ 12:07 - good point.

BBJ is right to highlight that. However, as I mentioned in previous post, I expect the red-tops to run with this. They will be very, very slightly subtle as they drop the ref and asst ref's name mid-story.

Tell me, who were the match officials when BBJ had some right bad ref'ing decisions. The truth is, we probably don't know. We never made 'a thing' about it. We have become institutionalised, we are used to it, we accept it as the norm. Only when the officials have 'keltic sounding' surnames do the mass media (pardon the ironic pun) toss it around like confetti and infer some tim-like slight of hand.

Smith knew it and the shady little charlatan is exploiting it.
f4

Anybody else think Donati was excellent tonight?

Wonderbeard King of the Beards

Inspiring stuff - should I use that Cholate flavoured Lynx deodorant too - or would that be overkill.

Martin42

Got the mail and replied - cheers mate

Big Liam

At the risk of repeating myself ..... burp.

What constitutes being thrown out or banned from CP.

Will the steward note the seats of the guys who dont arrive on time, leave early for a pie, come back from HT late (guy beise me cane back 11 mins into 2nd half...) or the sneaking outers at the FT.

If you pay your dosh and decide after 1 min or 89 that you wish to leave and with your mates - why should that be an issue.

We have to wait and see whats what here but I for one will write to the club if this has been the cae with the GB - thats just not on in my book

Wonderbeard King of the Beards

From where I was sitting, Hinkel looked very much clean shaven this eveing.

Give the baw to Sebo

Yes. Me. I thought his MOTM award was well deserved.

GTBTSEBO

best game in the hoops from Massimo - as i said in last thread Chomp Chomp Chomp is the sound of jinkysboy eating his words on massimo - he can play and Im happy to be proven wrong

wee chico
celtic park is emptying now with only a few minutes left

wee chico
celtic park erupts at the news from fir park

how can an empty stadium erupt?

celtic were totally dominant tonight both manager and players deserve great credit for securing a 4 point lead with such a list of injurys to key players shows the strenght in depth of the squad

has the walter lost his cardigan his comments on the non goal and naming the linesman involved as well as skippys goal from last year smacked of desperation, pile on the pressure bhoys the cardigan is beginning to show signs of wear and tear

comments on tonight's game

a view from section 114

Killie almost as bad as Hamilton a few weeks ago
Donatti played very well, however Scott McDonald for me was man of the match = what a shift
noteworthy performances also from - S Brown, Sheridan and Caldwell
PPS - Mizuno looks a wee bit special

Paul, as mentioned on previous threads, once our main opponents left the European Tour this year, all i wanted was to be there or there abouts coming out of the CL phase of our season. I am very glad to say that given our mega injury list, the squad have turned into "the mean machine", displaying a will to win their games which many doubtors feared we had lost.

let's just once again bask in the sunshine of being 4 points clear at this stage as we cement our pathway to four in a row.

Wee Strachan is doing a rare job, long may he continue

Hail Hail

passingcouldbecrisperCSC

o1bhoy

Are you lurking there

We've all made our point on Poppycock over the last few days, and I for one felt the club was correct to adopt the position they did, however if the stories tonight about people losing their season tickets are true then I feel we have actually given our enemies what they wanted.

Surely if Celtic are open to all of differing beliefs, religions and political viewpoints then the people who made their protest should be respected also ? And before someone points out that "they didnae respect the poppy, they should be allowed to make their protest. As PF ayr quite rightly points out these people committed no crime at Celtic Park on Saturday whereas previous visitors to our home have and no doubt will continue to do so.

Bullying tactics by Celtic , whatever you thought of the Green Brigade , they have a democratic right to protest or attempt to protest.

Smacks of John Reid , in my opinion. What will he do ask for censorship next? Celtic ask to leave the politics at the door then they issue summary justice without the right to defend ones self.

Totally shocking stuff.

Faithfulthru&thru

We are now the "mean machine"

Watch every player fight for every ball

Wilson and Hinkel v good examples of this and the midfield with even Massimo scrapping - hard not to when we have the footballed equivalent of Ricky Hatton chasing down the opposition with the tenacity of a bull terrier.

Does anyone now question Skooshes £4m fee?

kitalba

You are maybe be a touch unkind.

Remember they also have Charlie Adams!

jinkysboy

I'll question Skoosh's £4m fee. I can't believe we got him for only £4m.

Lardo66.

Thanks for the link although I think the boss will give you a row.

Spent my time sitting a foot away from my monitor and a fifty inch flatscreen. Guess which one I enjoyed best??????????

evening all,
wonderful result, was nervous at 1-0 despite our dominance though a great result at the end, loved how naka put his foot through the ball for his finish and still had control. Take note all footballers!
Onto my main point.....
Obstacles in life are overcome first in the mind and then in the doing.
Walter Smith's biggest mistake last season was to come out and say the number of games was going to have a detrimental effect on their league challenge. His second biggest mistake was to allow his players to believe it.
Rangers were honking tonight, they had little creativity and appeared content to reduce the game to a war of attrition.
Walter Smith's comments will do nothing to help rangers, and will only give his players an excuse for further failure.
Lang may his bum reek!
patnmick

I have to say I do feel sorry for the Killie players.

They get sent out with simple instructions "If it's wearing hoops and is Japanese kick it " and what does Gordon Strachan go and do? He puts another Japanese player on, come on you could probably smell the synapses burning out as the poor unfortunates tried to work out which one to kick.

Shame on you Gordon Strachan for putting those poor men through such torment.

Faithfulthru&thru

Agree with you on Killie and Hamilton. Although Kilmarnock will be good enough to take points elsewhere unlike Hamilton.

And on Strachan. He has a young, fast improving and confident squad there. If they are allowed to grow together we could have the makings of a fine Celtic team for a number of years.

Senor Pablo Diablo

Indeed - I hope he stays for many a long year but fear that the "big clubs" will come knocking soon if his form stays like this. If Hutton was worth £8m Skoosh at £15m in my book

A good night to you all as its been a good night all round.

Dream sweet dreams of 4iar and watch them become reality in May 2009.

keep the faith

Happy Birthday to me. And, and although Mrs Murphy said ye couldnae start a sentence with and, aye ye can on CQN.
Goodnight and God, as Dave Allen would say, May your God go with you. Yes I am that old.

Jinkysboy

Scott Brown will prove to be a snip at £4m

I wanted to use something other than Dream Team, cos we certainly aren't at that stage yet - however, we do seem to have a mean mental strength within the squad = they are all WINNERS

i for one am sitting very contented with a smile on my face which didn't seem possible following the 31st August. But once again wee Gordon seems to instill something with this group of players.

I am also trying to only focus on Celtic and not share comparison or interest with Rankers, however Walter Smith tonight displayed a new trait - the ultimate in Quintessential Paranoia!

Hail Hail

The Green Brigade story seems to be speculation. Do we actually know people were ejcted in connection with Saturday? If anyone has been banned, Celtic will have to show how they have contravened Unacceptable conduct at CP No sympathy if they have. There have been some on here talking about how things are in that section and they haven't been happy.

Sheridan was my MOTM. Or the guy near me who shouted 'YEHHHHH' with a minute to go. Full-time at Fir Park.

jinkysboy, I have developed a new range of products. I can send you my ultimate food catcher and a free supply of lip enhancers. The chocolate deodorant is your call my friend, although experience has taught me that woman dont enjoy the undertaste of bo, aparrantly it is very difficult to scrape of tongues, althoughI have been known to let my wife lick that taste off on my miraculous wondergrowth. Senor pablo, This is tragic news, Mr Hinkel was on his way to beardom paradise, my suspicion tells me that his beard was not yet powerful enough to resist the temptations of his partners evilness

Firstly, fantastic results tonight.

Don't know the full story of the Green Brigade thing.

I was against the poppy protest, however if this news is correct, then I would have to say that this is sad news.

I'm afraid that they have probably unwittingly become pawns in a sucker punch from Celtic re. TFS.

i.e. over to you David Murray, and the club who cannot do any more to stamp out it's "problem"

If reports are true, Celtic have told a handful of "troublemakers" (not breaking the law) in a very public manner that they are no longer welcome.
Will Murray adopt the same stance with racists (criminals) who break the law?

Absolutely brilliant performance tonight. The back four were superb again. Brown was everywhere although Naka and Shaun flitted in and out of proceedings. Donati was man of the match. He passed, tackled, hassled and "got stuck right in" as a certain greeting faced Ayrshire football manager would say. His playing style is a bit odd at times but his distribution is as good as anyone's in the squad. Very good turn and shot at the 2nd goal.

McDonald has had a hand in pretty much all the goals we have scored recently. He has really helped Sheridan through games and his lay off for the opener tonight was a real touch of class. I think that having Sami and Jan back will help him get back amongst the goals himself the way he was last season. Sheridan scored two great striker's goals tonight and deserves a lot of credit for taking Strachan's advice onboard.

And now the wee man himself. He has us playing as well as we ever have during his tenure and I really want us to drive on from here. We have a real chance to put some pressure on Rangers now and we have to try and keep this run going as long as possible. He will breath a big sigh of relief when Aiden, Jan and Crosas return although Mizuno and Donati may give him some food for thought over the coming weeks.

And finally, I heard Smith's remarks and couldn't quite believe what I was hearing. Would he have named the linesman if he didn't have an Irish surname? I don't like people trying to read things into the comments of the death star employees as we can all be a bit hasty to judge sometimes. But tonight I was in no doubt that Smith was insinuating that a tim had done the dirty on his peepul. I expected more of Smith than to pander to the lowest common denominator in his support but I think that is exactly what he did tonight.

Seriously though, that team does not inspire 'fear'. The opposite in fact, it should inspire a degree of confidence in any team who take the field against them.

In my glee at the results tonight I almost retired without a word for our brother who needs our Prayers

Malleus Maleficarum CSC

cardiffbhoy ,

Two wrongs don't make a right. Its my fear that Celtic could score a spectacular own goal here.

Jinksbhoy is right. Our own fans ejected whilst we let the Hun carry on with impunity in our own stadium? But wait , their paying customers , thats right. Fans can leave the stadium any time they please and as Celtic didn't officially notify any fan that there would be a minutes whatever applause/silence or otherwise its poor stuff from them to expect people who are against such things to accept something which they feel strongly against. Instead of talking to these fans they treat them like children or criminals and with their actions tonight they've just gave credence to the Green Brigade's martyrdom.

Metaphorically speaking , In acting like Thatcher , you've just gave these fans a cause and they will get support as I don't think we as a support can accept such draconian measures against our own.

Bullyboy tactics?

We can remove the 'broad church' from our ethos then.

Leave your politics at the door but you'll be accepting John Reids from now on. Somehow I don't think so John.

Regardless of whether you agree with the Green Brigade and their walk out of Celtic Park on Saturday in protest about the poppy appearing on the hoops, and the minutes silence for the war dead, there can be no doubt that Celtic have now taken the threat they posed very seriously.

Tonight instead of watching the first 20 minutes or so of the game, most fans were distracted by the stewards and police presence in section 111 where the Green Brigade sit. Even before the game started, the stewards and police presence at the stairwell was way over the top, even more than it usually is.

We sat in the North Stand and watched this for about 10 minutes before and 20 minutes into the game, there was a constant stream of stewards and police going up the stairs and walking back with 2 or 3 members, taking their season tickets from them and ejecting them from the stadium. There must have been in excess of 30 people ejected from the stadium tonight.

I can only assume this is their retalliation for the walk out on Saturday and having the gall to stand up and tell the board this is not what Celtic is about, this is not the way we want our club run, and we want the current board to quit.

One thing our current board must never forget, if the White's and Kelly's had done the same thing when the "Celts for Change" protest happened, they wouldn't be in the cosy jobs they have now, because Celtic would not be in existence.

We have a right to free speech. We have a right to protest. Celtic appear to believe this does not apply to the club's supporters......US !!

Personally, I applauded the Green Brigade on Saturday for taking the stance they did although I did not walk out. Others did not. However, whether or not you agree with what they did, and why they did it, Celtic did not have the right to eject these fans from the stadium tonight and certainly have no right to ban them for what happened on Saturday.I understand several fans are talking about legal action over this.
The media will love it, it will deflect attention from the huns and it is bound to get ugly.

The people running Celtic, those who made this stupid decision tonight, should consider what they have done, and what they are doing to our beloved Club. Even if you don't believe in what the Green Brigade do, they have a right to protest, and all this negativity will backfire on the Club.

I would like to hope that the other fan groups for example supporters associations, all stand behind you in a show of fan solidarity which we've not seen since the days the club was almost dead.

Frankly, if they don't, the club's already died a little.

It's time for change.

Time for change? FFS.

1st time poster-Long time lurker.
Ghuys,at the game tonight & delighted we are now 4 points ahead & on our way to 4 in a row.
9 wins out of 9 is an (irn-bru) run (can't spell phenomonillll)in anybody's book.
Well done to Gordon & the bhoys-keep it going.
Heard Smith's interview after their draw tonight & I am absolutely boiling.
He mentions the linesman's surname& then that tosser delahunt( I think that's his name) lets everybody know his christian name.
Poor guy will get pelters for 2 honest mistakes.
Well done John Hartson for reminding everybody about decisions against us.
Going to bed happy but that manager is bang out of order.
I'm trying to calm down.
BTW-Paul,love the site-keep up the good work.
HAIL,HAIL.

Happy to concede defeat on Big Mass Imo. Love to see a Celt improve.

I have never stated that wee Molly is playing to his capacity - sure Aidan will return to his spot soon and Molly will need to work harder. But keep the faith with all the hooppies - they are all Ghods Children and we welcome back the prodigal son at our club

Really off to bed now though

Great game tonight, I thought everyone was excellent. Except maybe Skippy, whose game was rather patchy. He had good spells, though, and otherwise a thoroughly fantastic performance from the Celtic team. Three fully deserved goals and three fully deserved points. I thought Donati had a good game, but nothing too special, and for me it was Sheridan who was MOTM. Great to see Samaras back, and Naka and Shaun both fit to start. Mizuno looked good as well, but didn't have a lot of time to do anything.
And a well earned point for Motherwell; I didn't see the game but something tells me they deserved at least a draw.

Here We Go, Four In A Row!

posted this on Celticminded earlier. Arguments re expulsions were aplenty. Perhaps PF ayr, or similar, could comment on it's suitability (fit-for-purposeness?)

surely this is a no-brainer??!!

you've walked out on Saturday (I won't talk about poppies / walkouts cos I'm assuming the argument has moved on)

you're papped out tonight
you ask Celtic why?
they tell you....blah, blah, blah...club...stature...disrepute

you tell them you felt sick 10 minutes into game, had to leave before you hurled, looking forward to next game.

where does that leave their argument?? guess what, nowhere.

feel free to go for wife / girlfriend / sister / mum going into labour!!

long story short - prove me wrong or gie's ma blinkin' seat back!!!!
no biggie, no legal bill

keep the high ba's low guys

alternatively, go back a week and talk about the respective merits of poppies.....you'll be fartin against thunder for months. You won't see the league winning games.

It's not about backing down - cos you haven't. It's about having your walkout cake and eating it for the rest of the season.
Have a think

My dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,friend.. Jinko.

My remarks concerning my feelings regarding the play of Molly, was only inserted in my last submission ,as a contrast, if you will, in the difference in the attitude of one Player.. Massimo.. and of another player .. Molly... regarding their scores in the IMPROVEMENT METER.

Which reads...if you are interested..

Massimo 110... Molly 23

The comparison was a comparison, per se... it had no bearing in what I imagined your opinion was of the worth to the Celtic cause that the inclusion of Molly in the Team sheet, amounted to.

Kojo.
yer pal..who likes ye

Cracking game tonight, totally flew by. I remember not so long ago when Kilmarnock used to bore us into submission. no more!

I would like to go back and find all the articles where there was a lot of moaning about Scott Brown costing too much and me (and others) defending him and his price tag. Compare and contrast, like.

I noticed a wee kerfuffle down the Green Brigade end, and we made some jokes about there being another walk-out when we saw a few of them going. I didn't realise that anyone was being removed forcibly. It seems ridiculous if true.

Beware a furry face. A man that sports a beard has something to hide even if it's just a spotty chin.

The clean-shaving Narrowbhoat Tim who thought Captain Blackbeard was a big Jessie and couldnae cut it on the Grand Union Canal like the TNBT.

Gillette CSC

Enjoyed the evening and went for a couple of pints in the pub after the game. I thought the full backs were better than Massimo tonight but we were so superior for most of the match anyway.

Sorry to hear about pro-active punishment of the walk out crew from GB. There's some really bad political plays from both sides today, if true.

Roll on to Hamilton now. Rangers will beat St. Mirren on Saturday so we must maintain form right through to the 27th December match.

by the way, posters on other sites are saying that the removal of people from section 111 was not a removal from the stadium, more a checking of tickets and telling people to get back to their own seats.

Where's "walter"?

Just heard all thats on the randalstown site oneantonrogan

been trying to find anything official or in the newspapers but cant find anything

all go with the cardigan we wus robbed line by timmy linesman

WALTER Smith effectively blamed assistant referee Tom Murphy for the two points Rangers dropped in the scoreless draw at Motherwell, allowing Celtic to increase their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Smith was clearly angered by Murphy's offside decision against Kris Boyd before the Rangers striker volleyed the ball into the net in the second half. Referee Steve Conroy's whistle had sounded and everyone – including Motherwell goalkeeper Graeme Sm had come to a standstill before Boyd scored his 'goal'. The Ibrox manager, however, not only held the linesman culpable, but referred back to another incident in the Old Firm match Celtic won 3-2 at Parkhead last April.

"That was a poor decision by the linesman, as it was clear that Boyd was onside," said Smith. "Mr Murphy was quick to allow a Scott McDonald goal to stand at Parkhead last season and quick to disallow that one tonight. We're a club who supposedly don't get decisions given against us. Well, that's two away from home this season, at Aberdeen and here tonight that have cost us." In the 1-1 draw at Pittodrie, DaMarcus Beasley scored in injury time, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

"Having said that," added Smith, "we had enough chances to win the game, especially in the first half. But we missed them all, so, in that respect, we only have ourselves to blame."

Smith's criticism of Murphy could earn him a summons from the SFA to explain himself. His counterpart, Motherwell manager Mark McGhee, countered the Rangers manager's claim of injustice with one of his own.

"Rangers may think their goal was all right, but we should have had a stonewall penalty at the very end," said McGhee, in allusion to a pull on his striker, John Sutton, in injury time. "Some people thought I was a bit harsh on my players when I said I was disappointed with their performance against Celtic last Saturday. But, whatever anyone thought of the performance, it wasn't good enough to prevent us from losing the match. I think tonight showed what I meant when I said I was disappointed with them.

"Our goalkeeper, Graeme Smith, did play well, but Allan McGregor had to make some top-class saves as well. Graeme became a father yesterday, his wife had a little girl, Mia, and maybe that inspired him. But he's been greatly improved since the start of the season

Well said Mark McGee

oneantonrogan

Other sites are stating that there was a targeting of those seen to have been involved with the walkout last weekend. Some are talking about dispersal of people congregating near the GB 111 site who had tickets for other areas. Stakes were definitely raised tonight. We need to wait and see what happens when the ejected fans turn up for their "interview" with our Security czar, Mr. Hawthorne. Some might bring legal representation. These are ugly times. Could there be problems at Hamilton?

On a lighter note. Congratulations to Father Murphy from old Kilcormack who, apparently, performed some sterling service whilst running the line at Fir Park tonight.

I'm off to my kip now with dreams of 4iar and a return to an inclusive celtic.

patnmick

I was astounded at Walter Smith's words. Not like him to say anything like that in public. Indication of pressure methinks because it is not all going to plan.

When I look at the present Rangers team compared to last season I do not get the same impression of solidity. Weir is a year older, Boughera is not dominant and Broadfoot is Broadfoot. A hardworking professional but not champion material.

Its as if Wattie saw writing on the wall tonight and like you I thought it a bad signal to send out to his players what he saw.

Hi, new poster but have been a long time lurker on here. Glad to see the positive comments about Donati on here tonight. I made a point of studying him tonight due to the bad press he always seems to get. From memory only 1 pass went astray from him tonight and he committed only 1 foul. 2 early clearing defensive headers and kept the game simple but kept the ball moving. I have always been a big fan of his although I think he suffered from the same problem as many before him, ie "its a diddy league and I'll be able to stroll about like I own the joint", Tonight though he was immense, he is not flash, doesnt look spectacular in anything he does but does always look to move the ball forwards, unlike wee Barry:-) I hope he gets a run in the team cos he has been impressive on recent outings and to my mind is a great player who has everything we need. 1st touch is great, he passes well, he spots openings, makes good runs(which his teammates don't take advantage of) and tries to play the killer pass when he can. Paul, great site, beats reading the toilet papers!!!

Definition of Civil

Civil: adhering to the norms of polite social intercourse; not deficient in common courtesy: e.. After their disagreement, their relations were civil though not cordial.

I post the definition because it would appear Celtic want civil behaviour at CP.

a) Are we saying they are wrong to seek this and encourage folk to behave in such a manner?

Or

Are we saying the are right to seek this but are going about it in the wrong way?

If a) why?

If b) how should they go about it?

In their shoes what would you do?

Just watched Motherwell v Rearrangers highlights on the BBC site, a brilliant Sebo-esque miss from Boyd right at the end made my day. The goal looked onside, but I think Graeme Smith (who was phenomenal between the sticks) would have stopped it if the whistle hadn't gone, so Wattie's argument falls a little flat. McGregor had a busy night too by the looks of things, one great save near the end. Interestingly, the late penalty claim McGhee mentioned is missing from the non-biased BBC highlights. I'm sure that was just an oversight though.

Surprisingly Wattie wasnt so quick to name the linesman in question when Kris "fatty" Boyd scored from a clearly offside position against Hamilton the other week.

Must have slipped his mind. Well it happens when you get to his age.

Awaiting comfirmation of the expulsions from the stadium and why before I pass comment.

Dont mean to be pedantic but it was Brown's one two with Naka for the 3rd goal.

Overall I thought we were excellent, Donati especially having a good game and deserved motm. Hinkel was good aswell and hopefully he can remain injury free and show why we paid for him in the first place. Enjoying Brown's form aswell as Mcmanus starting to find a bit of it himself.

Didn't think Maloney or Naka were that great however didn't think they looked 100% fit either so credit to them for playing on due to our injury crisis.

Il comment on the Green Brigade stuff once I know the whole story. Just pleased at a great performance, 3 points and the huns dropping 2

Ignoring the tumbleweed,

I would love to see what the possession statistics are for tonight.
This was a training exercise in pass and move for Celtic as the opposition was so lightweight they were almost anorexic.

Relieved that we see light at the end of the injury crisis and find ourselves 4 points ahead in our 4IAR quest.

Contest over on December 27th?

Prayers and thoughts for Kano.

'GG listening to the echo, echo, echo.

well some on here have got their wish. The celtic board are a disgrace.

Its ok to be a war criminal as chairman but to have a legitmate protest means your out.

The celtic board have shamed themselves tonight. Harry swan is alive and well.

The next away game will be fun.

I am willing to believe the story that fans from other parts of the ground were told to go back to their own seats, it has been said on many sites that young fans leave their own areas to go and join in the fun over in the Green Brigade areas.

if fans who walked out last week and were seen and noted doing so and then ejected 2nite is true then I dread to think were the club is going with this tactic,in fact I find it unbelievable

for Cillian Sheridan, take a bow young man

Ulster-Celt

going for a possible 4 in a row
4 points clear at the top of the league
great performances from the team and squad players
hopefully when we have a fully fit squad back
we can put even more daylight between us and sleekit smith/murray gang of charlatans

Gweedorebhoy:

what's happened? What wish did some on here have that they've got?
When was our chairman found guilty, by any court, of being a war criminal?

What have the board done to shame themselves?

What actually happened at the game last night?

Great result for us and them (an away draw). Kitalba your analysis of the rearangers team/squad trying to stop 10 in a row is just icing on the cake. They don't have it and will leak points from now on in. The cardigan has lost it again and they are on the rocky road of paranoia.

It is really great to hear positive comments about our fringe players. Really when was the last time you could honestly say that any of our fringe players were anything to talk about.... not since big Jocks teams ?? Gordon Strachan is finally getting credit for building a squad of talented hungry players. Not up to winning the CL but proud hoops and heaps of talent . It just gets better and greener.

The news about the green brigade seats. Can't see many ways that Celtic win out of this. The green brigade are fans fans and I can't see how hoops wanting to get in a singing area can be bad for our team , in any way. I will wait to hear what really happened before settling on it but will have to be really amazingly good to come out smelling of roses. The only reason that would be good enough is justification for evicting the entire hunnish horde at the next game at Celtic park. That would be worth watching on the news.

Last night was a good night out and a good game to watch.

Even that imposter donatie had a good game or was i drunk?

However let's wait until the 27th when we beat the huns to gloat.

There are many twists and turns left in this league.

We can blow the huns away with a victory at mordor and then buying in a quality left back and perhaps a striker while they either sell the best they have or scurry down behind the couch looking for coppers.

However, all they will find will be wilting moonbeams

Ironside and walter the acceptable face of hun bigotry will be found out this year.

Walter smiths disgraceful attack on the linesman last night on the radio should not be ignored. He seemed to revel in the bile when he said the word murphy.

Anyway i'm off to work

Great results for us last night and feeling really positive about the team/squad as a whole now.
My only concern at the moment is the rearrangers have played 3 more away games than us and the 4 point gap is possibly reflective of that.
The way we are playing I dont see us dropping points though so hopefully by the time we go to Mordor on the 27th Dec we will have maintained this advantage to guarantee we are still top going into the New Year.

Got to say that Gary Caldwell and Scott Brown have been excellent all season and it's not surprise that the manager has very rarely left them out the side.
Looking forward to Aiden and Crossas coming back and us having more options again!

Onwards to 4 in a row!

It is an interesting take on GBgate , if fans were told to go back to ther own seats .

Ref..porridge and bananas comments about the behaviour of that section and the element that it was attracting ...which was ruining other supporters enjoyment

all those non GB members who have seats in 111/112 are entitled to watch the game without drunken idiots spoiling it for them

if this is what was done ..i applaud such action

before passing pejorative comment ...a fair grasp of the facts will help
as for comment based on speculation and conjecture ...we should leave that to El Cardo

Kitalba

Robert Mugabe has never been found guilty in a court of war crimes either but a war criminal he surely is. Not being convicted of a crime is no proof that you are not guilty.

John Ried voted for an illegal war, as stated by Kofi Annan therefore is guilty of a war crime along with the rest of the Labour cabinet who took us to a war that has cost over a million lives and counting. Robin Cook, a true man of principal, quit frontline politics rather than put his name to it.

What happened last night, according to Green Brigade members on other Celtic sites, was that fans who peacefully protested on Saturday where identified, ejected from the ground and had their season cards confiscated.

This is the most shameful thing I have ever heard perpetrated by a Celtic board and truely part of Celtic died last night.

porridgeandbananas reading backwards tonite and interested to see your take on the green brigade "visitors" as this is your local spot at Celtic park. Thanks for that view from the stands. Puts another angle of the events.

Helicopter you are right about the away games and nothing won yet mate. We were always getting the Arabs in the Cup. Looking at both squads we have the fight and talent and depth to get the away points at Firbog , Tannadice and Easter Road. Rangers don't look like champions on what we are seeing right now , long may it continue and no one to sell this time. Burying them at Ibrox will be sweet indeed.

good resut last night..
haven't read anything yet as i came home from match and couldn't get onto site..

last time i come home without going to boozer....

smith seething on radio last night...murphy to blame for offside goal.....paranoid. we are not alone.....

The board apologists on this site will spin anything the celtic board way.

Ask the green brigade members they have published it on other celtic sites.

They were ejected for the protest.

Shame on celtic and shame on those on here who would support such measures. This is not the celtic way. What happened to the broad church so oft quoted on here?

I look forward to the spin on here later. Perhaps it was ruffian scallywags without the proper dress code now that just won't do in the new celtic. Or perhaps they where celtic fans with a legitimate right to protest that just don't fit the boards plans for stepford Fans.

All nice nodding and ever so loyal.

Now i am really out the door for the parking bay which is the m8 awaits.

Here we are the morning after a fine display taking what just might be a decisive lead in the title race (early doors mind) and some on here are talking about Robert Mugabe and Robin Cook, neither of whom are likely to be signing targets for the January window.

Politics and prejudice again.

Now don't get me wrong I am a political man but I don't come on here pushing my own personal political agenda, unlike some.

Hail, hail and on to 4 in a row

Taurangabhoy:

There are four Rangers supporters in our office. I almost felt sorry for them today. They were at an absolute loss to even begin to explain what is actually wrong with their club, but Dick Advocatt got a fair few mentions along with their not so revered chairman and the man with no second name did not get of lightly either.

We looked at their squad this morning and they tried, and I mean tried, to justify each and every player and his right to wear their jersey. At the end of it only the keeper, Mendes, Davies and Bodychencpeleauldino, were accepted as being worthy of a jersey.

All I said to them was, do you really believe, looking at that team on paper, that is a team that looks like it is good enough to win the championship. Compare that team with the team with the team you had five years ago; compare that team with the team you had ten years ago, and tell me that team you put out last night is a team worthy of your jersey.

Shell shocked, for the want of a more appropriate, though none more apt, would best describe their demeanour.

In their defence of a defence, they cited the cheating linesman and referee, then unbelievably, without any prompting from myself, they conceded that Motherwell were denied a stonewaller.

They did not go as far as to forfeit the league but they are most definitely not the bellicose ‘Billy Boys’ they were just a few short weeks ago.

Now I know there is a long ways to go, and I would be amazed if Rangers chucked it just yet, but some among their more pragmatic supporters are beginning to ask some pragmatic and unfortunately, pertinent, questions.

I have no idea what happened in the stadium last night. Until I did, I would not say too much about it lest I make myself look hasty and harsh.

For years mate, I’ve being advocating a standing area behind the goals where people could mix freely. I know it is not going to happen overnight but I hope it happens soon and the Jungle Boys and the Green Brigade would be free to do what they do best without fear of intervention.

Like you I am so glad so many of our first team squad players are showing that they are worthy of being ‘first team squad players’.

Gordon Strachan has got them playing well and winning games. All he has to do is keep up the momentum and the four in a row is on.

Confidence and appreciation in the support, and of the support, is a two way street between the terraces and the pitch and vice versa.

Another three points.

Simple question regarding the ALLEGED confiscation of season tickets. How exactly is this done? Do stewards/polis ask for them to be handed over and the fans concerned hand them over meekly? I don't think so. So, were season tickets forcibly removed from supporters? I don't think so.

There's a lot of misinformation out there masquerading as fact to suit a pre-ordained agenda.

gweedorebhoy I think all anyone is saying is don't be hasty. Wait until a few facts come out. Kitalba excellent idea for a back to the future Jungle , if they could work it out with the OSH killjoys. Talking of which enjoy your office time mate.

Can't wait to see Koki play a full game. Will he take the Naka spot ??

Michael:

I am a wee bit ignorant of any war that Robert Mugabe took part in that would brand him a war criminal.

morning all...............Celtic were excellent last night without being pushed or stretched, just what we need going through this busy period.

Those players out injured will be worried about getting back into the team.........competition for places will keep the tempo up.....

Pablo.......most excellent post from a top poster......you know the one.

C'mon CELTIC

vman

I have 5 tickets for the Celtic end against Hamilton.

Is anyone interested in one, some or all of them.

If so leave a message and i will look back on site, late tonight.

I will check this thread and any knew one.
Cheers

Great tic performance last night. Great well performance also. Paul's words of praise this week for McGhee were well timed!

Best laugh of the night for me was Watty's interview which I heard on my way home. Apparently it's all Murphy's fault. As well as Boydinho's disallowed effort last night he had a moan about Skippy last season where our man Murphy allowed an alleged offside goal to stand.

Just proves....He doesn't like his Murphy's and he is bitter (Just like the rest of them).

Hail Hail
Jamiebhoy

Kitalba

Perhaps the war he has been waging through his control of the military on all opposition groups in Zimbabwe.

Funny song i heard last time every time Gary Caldwell touched the ball

Gary Callllllldwell
Gary Callllllldwell
Hes got the biggest heid
In the SPL
Gary Calllllllldwell
Heid Heid Heid Heid

By my calculations Gordon has now used 26 players in competitive matches this season. Now that's what I call squad rotation.

Lennondinho18

What was the tune to the Caldwell song??
He's becoming a cult figure the big man........show's he's playing well even when the song is insulting (like Hartson)!!

Hail, hail

Even though Jeffries said before last night's match that he felt going to CP was a lost cause so played a lesser side (his idea, what I do know is the Skelton, who likes to kick anything in green and white above grss level, managed to get a game), the important thing is the 3 points and 3 goals we got.

Injury ravaged, heavy schedule of big games - but winning in the SPL and playing beyond ourselves at least once in Europe. That's how it's done - other teams will be watching us and thinking, yeah, they know what they are about

Sheridan seems to be getting a hang of scoring, and even Mo Donati getting into things.

Wasn't at the game, was working last night, but seems MBrown was particulalry tested on goal. Good. A clean sheet is a clean sheet.

AS I was in work, the tellies were tuned to Setanta's "live thriller" from Fir Park.

Even the Rears fans didn't see them getting a goal, although there was a slight glimmer of hope when the worst most unlikely Spanish-Scot since Sean Connery in Highlander came on.

Targets for abuse included Lafferty - drawing with Motherwell, while the fella Coyle get's a famous victory against Chelsea. Go figure.

Miller - he's still got a bit of time after putting away the presents from Big Artur at CP, but he could have scored a couple

Boyd - who?

Motherwell's keeper played a blinder to be fair - but Rears missed a good few chances.

No surprise Smith had a go at "Mr Murphy" - he said Mr, so he was being civil and polite, not having a go at anyone, certainly not making a specific reference to a name that would place him in a certain community. Aye, right - Aye ready to stick it into Tims is the Cardigan.

They are not happy, and Smith will be unhappier than most, as it'll be the January sales at Ibrox. "Harry, fancy the boy Mendes again..?" Saleable asset who isn't laid up, unlike Thompson.

STANDING UP...looking down from the vantage point of top of the league

eventheolivesarebleeding

i will take one of them off your hands please - mail me at lddonaldsonatyahoo.co.uk

Michael Collins:

pure semantics and if you actually knew anything about the history of the man you would have quoted me back the instances where he in fact was a war criminal, but as usual you irresponsibly and ignorantly, throw out words without any regard for their consequence.

How you can equate such a man to our chairman is beyond belief.

What have Celtic football club and its employees ever done to you to incite such repetitive rancour.

Can't you just enjoy a result without seeking confrontation before the fact.

Was stunned by Smith's comments when I heard them in the car. As others have suggested, it is an indication of the pressure he's under. Although, as Hearts will tell you, others get in serious trouble for questioning the integrity of officials. There can be no doubt that's what he was doing (albeit for his own fans' sake - that's why he felt it necessary to mention Murphy by name).

On the GB stuff, I really hope reports of ticket confiscations aren't true - would be a real worry if it were. Pens poised for letters to Mr Reid...

Good night all round last night, but one of my favourite moments must have been the delight swirling around the north stand as the final whistle went at fir park!

hail hail

talking of war, thats pretty much how the green brigade see their ongoing conflict with john reid and the celtic board

people might bear this in mind before they jump to conclusions based on rumours or "information" that might have come from the gb.

Kitalba

Throwing out insults is very unlike you but does betray that you are struggling a bit with your argument.

I am well chuffed with the result and hugely delighted that the huns still seem to be incapable of winning away.

Celtic barring people from CP for demonstrating however is at least worthy of debate.

Your last two lines are far too purile to warrant a response.

Michael Collins:

on re-reading your post at 7.46 just in case you are under an illusion, it was not the labour cabinet that took our country to war, it was not even the labour party itself that took us to war, it was in fact a majority vote in the elected houses of commons that took us to war so by extension it was the elected representatives of the population of the United Kingdom that took us to war.

Google it if you want, but before you do, be honest with yourself, do you know what office Dr. John Reid held within the labour government, the day our country voted for war?

I think you'll find that he was not part of the cabinet you state took us to war.

So what exactly did he do, that was any different from all the hundreds of other MP's who voted for war, that makes him personally especially worth your scorn.

Michael Collins:

what insults?

Michael Collins,

Do you have evidence that people were ejected and their season books taken off them? If it's purely on the evidence of the posts on some message boards then as Celtic4me says "The Green Brigade see their conflict with John Reid and the board as a war" There is always propaganda in a war.

Lots of people have a lot to say against our board and will use anything to have a go.

Some people are saying it was a case of moving people from the area who had season books from other areas.

How about waiting to see the facts before roundly condemning the board.

Why let facts get in the way though eh, after all we'll sing what we like and the board won't stop us.

kitabla

John Reid was blairs enforcer.

It may not suit your agenda but it's a fact.

Reid made sure anyone who was wavering was told what was in store for them if they did not vote for the war.

perhaps their labour season ticket being revoked.

Reid is chairman but he has a past.

I'm with Micheal collins as usual you resort to insults with anyone who disagrees with you.

Im now awaiting a googling of my own now.

You chased out sean south but you won't chase out anyone else.

gweerdorebhoy:

what agenda?

gweerdorebhoy:

what insults?

gweerdorebhoy:

what past?

Just when you were doing so well Kitalba. What insults :)

Trying to justify Robert Mugabe minus 10 points (same for you Michael for comparing with), getting personal with Michael's points minus 15 .

Luckily the rest of your arguement gets a few good points scored.

Michael keep telling it as you see it mate but don't expect a whole lot of sympathy for bagging a decent man. John Reid isn't Joseph Stalin , Pol Pot , Sadam or Hitler. Our leaders did what they thought was the right thing to do to keep the freedom we nearly lost when we had apologists like Chamberlain. They may have been wrong no WOMD, John Reid included , but they were not evil or criminal. Perspective man. Get back to the fitba.

Gweedorebhoy,

Sean South was chased by no one but himself, he lost argument after argument and has now become so ridiculous a figure he no longer posts. I'm fairly certain he said for three years in a row we would lose the league, we'd be embarrassed in Europe etc etc.

Did you know he's a journalist down south who writes in an England fans magazine and uses "we" and "us" to describe their national team?

I can provide evidence if you like. That's why I took exception to the guy, more faces than the town hall clock.

Bambi

I would be genuinely interested to know who Sean South was. No interest in chasing him down to have a go at him, but I'm also a journalist and was always intrigued as to who he was.

Inkybhoy,

I won't post his name on here but he did give his own forename in a post once which was how I managed to work it out. My wife worked with him in Newcastle and has filled me in with a few details of him. His name's Brian.

Inkybohy

Like the comparison of Novo and Sean - class.

Who could forget: "Greetingsh! I am Juan Shanchez Villa-Lobosh Ramirezh, Chief Metallurgisht to King Philip II of Shpain."

Acting worthy of Strasberg's Actors' Studio.

Can't shift the image of Novo and Mcoist puffing along an Ayrshire beach in a desperate attempt to experience 'the quickening'.

re the game: another exciting cameo from Mizuno. It was his cutting pass that led to the third goal. I was at the last Tommy Burns supper in Edinburgh where Pat Nevin described how he was on the board that passed Koki's work permit application. It went somehting like this:

Strachan: Here are some of the reasons why we believe Mizuno should be granted....

Nevin: Yep! On ye go! Nae bother! What was that ye were sayin? Yeah, yeah, whatever. Passed.

He mentioned then that this is a player to watch and how lucky we are to get him. Realise that two short cameos don't prove much but he's packed a lot of classy, skillful play into 15 minutes, so much so that even now I'm hoping we can hold onto him.

gweerdorebhoy:

Sean South's leaving had nothing whatsoever to do with me. Maybe you can't remember, maybe you can, but it was I who stopped posting way befor the bold Sean promised to buy the blog a beer if Celtic won the league with 11 game to go. If I remember rightly, he said that those who believed that Celtic could win the league from that position were delusional.

So tell me gweerorebhoy, do you think I, and others were delusional for believing in our team, or do you think Sean South was right to make such a promise only to renage on it and then for you to have the audacity to say I chased him away.

Your last post sir is quite inaccurate as well as untrue and I can publicly prove it so.

Morning all.

ANGUS YOUNG

Thanks for link to game last night, sitting feeling sorry for myself as wife would not let me go to game .
I have been coughing and spluttering since manure game last week
(POOR ME).
Could some genius out there tell me why can i only post from my

yours in stupidness

Taurangabhoy:

I want at least ten points back because I never tried to justify that person.

The fifteen you deducted for getting personal I will forfeit even though I do not believe I was gettin personal and that was most definately not my intent.

Bambi

Cheers for that. Understand reluctance for full name. I remember the Geordie land location

Inkybhoy,

Daily Mirror.

bambi is that Brian or bwian . I'm the journalist. No I am the journalist. No I am . He's not the journalist hes just a naughty boy.

up_over_goal now that is mouth watering. So much promise in the next generation of hoops.

Bambi

Sadly, it would seem he and I work for the same parent company

Kitalba no you didn't but to use the forementioned person to progress your arguement. ok minus 5. Judges decision final

Great match last night. 4 in a row is looking easier with every passing day.

On the stewards, I sit in 111. Their presence throughout most of the game was a nuisance and a distraction for those trying to watch the game but I don't believe for a second that fans were being ejected.

We could clearly see tickets being checked and fans (about 10-15, all young lads who looked to be in their late teens/early 20s) being asked to move to their own seats without much dispute. The confusion may have arisen by the fact that they were asked to leave Block 111 by the main stairs - which, to some, may have looked like they were being sent out.

If they were banning fans, why not just write to them and de-activate tickets?

On more important matters, great to see see Samaras back tonight and with news of Crosas improving fitness, things can only get better!

Freebirdsfly

eventheolivesarebleeding - I'd be very interested in 2 tickets for Hamilton. Only ever managed to get tickets for one other away game!

Inkybhoy,

I thought that was the case, should make him easier to identify for you.

He covers the North East football clubs, mainly the Toon though.

Bambi

I remember him saying that at one point. I had thought that he worked for the Journal or Chronicle

Helicopter

Am not sure what song it is from
al try and give you a pointer to it when i think of 1

i also agree in that its similar to the hartson song, albeit a bit cheekier!

Inkybhoy,

He worked for the Sunday Sun iirc. Wife's a snapper who worked down there, she also worked in your office for a number of years until last year, with the Mail. She worked on the Pic desk.

Where is the infamous Sean South nowadays?

Looked like a cracking performance last night by the look of the highlights on the BBC site. I thought the game was on Setanta . . . unfortunatly for me I got the wrong Glasgow team. Much has been made of 'Wells keeper but the guys in the middle (Lasley+Hughes) were fantastic! Hughes had a cracking a shot towards the end that McGregor just got to.

Does anyone else think that Mendes looks like Donati from last season? I thought the game passed Mendes buy. Captain Unbookable didn't look fit. I think the Rears do themselves no favours by playing Davis on the right side.

End of the day though: We won, clean sheet, 4 points in front in the league, Rears dropped points, players back from injury and Chelsea lost! So no complaints from me :-)

Hail hail!

Good result last night, and we seem to have stopped shipping goals. Even Man U, who have more firepower than the Mighty Eighth ,only scored once. I expect it's because our fullback play has improved.

Anyways, Sean South getting another scoop.

To be fair to Sean he was extremely popular when he had the inside track on how UEFA were going to punish us after the Dida debacle.

1st time poster long time lurker

Delighted with the result and long may our dominance continue. Just cannot see who will take points from us just now. I have not been this confident since MONs team went 25 wins on the bounce

Bambi

Did your wife get a deal when she left? If so, can you ask for any tips so I can get one? :)

I'm on the other side of the office, don't really have anything to do with the Mail.

Inkybhoy,

No she left to set up her own portait business, a long held dream.

Are you in the Record side of things?

Bambi

It's just clicked who your wife is, I think. Do you live in Embra?

Between now and the next derby match both sides have the following games:

The Good Ghuys

Hamilton (A)
St Mirren (A)
ICT (H)
Hibs (A)
Hearts (H)
Falkirk (A)

Rearrangers

St Mirren (H)
Aberdeen (H)
Hearts (A)
Hamilton (H)
Dundee Utd (A)
Hibs (H)

With 4 home and 2 away Rangers have the easier run on paper but I'm more than confident that we will take full points from our games - maybe Hibs proving to be the biggest obstacle.

They on the other hand might just drop points at Tannadice or Tynecastle which would put them in a precarious position before we visit Castle Greyskull.

Onwards to 4IAR

Bambi

Aye.

I know the Killie player Tim Clancy. I went to the 3-2 Champions League defeat against Man U with him a couple of years ago. He's a big Celt and would have loved last night regardless of the result. In fact I reckon he was chuffed about the result and probably didn't try too hard! ;-)

I bet he'll be delighted you let everyone know that!

"I would be genuinely interested to know who Sean South was. No interest in chasing him down to have a go at him, but I'm also a journalist and was always intrigued as to who he was."

Your post begs so many questions - I don't know where to start...

Do you really have to come onto a public forum to try to identify a former poster (Sean South) here who has fallen foul of the CQN consensus?

Get supplied by another poster (Bambi)with his first name who then comes over all principled about revealing his complete name.

What kind of journalist are you that you cannot find out within a couple of minutes the identity of Sean South?

Sean South for all his intemperate forecasts at the end of last season -he lost the plot-I suggest is a far more principled individual than either of you. I am sure you (Bambi)can provide evidence that SS used the possessive term in articles about the England soccer team. So what? - maybe he feels that way. Or maybe he was doing what journalists do - have his readers identify with him.

There is supposed to be a protection of anonymity for posters here - who want it. Shame on you both for seeking to 'out' Sean South - and in such a sneaky way.

Inkybhoy

Am I to take it Keith wacko Jacko Loyal will not have been happy with both results involving us and them?/

Were you at the game mate??

Hew

As I said, not bothered or interested in starting a witchhunt for the guy.

The poster formerly known as Sean South often said he was football writer in the North East of England.

There isn't a massive database of names journalists use on net fora.

Can you identify him from the information so far?

I was just curious about who he was, since he maintained he was a Celtic fan who worked in the media, something that I'm interested in, because I'm one as well.

Any more questions from your moral high ground?

Rocco

Was working. I think you know the answer to your question..

Sorry - Sean South

On The GB thing. The GB don't ask anyone to come round and join them in section 111. In fact they have always stated that you should ask to be relocated.....

The majority of those ejected or stopped gaining entry to the game last night were not GB members according to reports.

Just the same as Saturday when not all that protested were GB members.

DBBIA

Better be careful, Hew might think you've identified the guy

hew

I agree 100% with you, it is bad enough that SS has now become a figure of ridicule on here but it is up to him if he wants to reveal his identity on CQN not for others to "out" him. I for one always read his posts but rarely agreed with him and I do miss his posts.

** from the Green Briagde has just posted on TAL that he was thrown out, his season ticket removed and told he is banned.
---------------------------------
I am so angry at this... and they have the cheek to talk about Saturday as being about those that fought for our 'freedom' to dissent and protest.

It shows that the people running our club are not only hypocrites but a bunch of ******* bullies as well.

On my phone now i was also thrown out post more details when I can

i never even made it in tonight.

season book was taken for breaking ground regulations for selling a lad a t shirt outside the stadium, allegedly.
-------------------------------------
*******g joke tonight, around 20 minutes before the game steward comes up and asks to see my ticket I say this is not my seat ill be moving round to my own seat before kick off dont worry, He then repeats this and I repeat it eventually i walk downstairs and halfway down the stairs he asks to see my ticket me knowing what his plan was to do I said nah im just going to my seat and this went on for around 5 minutes until I stupidly showed him my ticket he then grabs it off me and I keep a hold of it (im sure a few guys on here witnessed this) eventually I let go and go to complain in the ticket office. I have to phone back to tommorow to arrange a meeting with hawthorne and have a relative who is a lawyer who will be with me, they ignored everyone else aroudn us and asked me and 2 friends (who are all under 16) for their tickets and no one else, something has to be done. Sorry if this post does not make much sense still raging. Also to add to this in my anger I punched a brick wall yes a brick wall and the one with the headpiece who is always around 111 later accused me of damaging property.

STANDING UP AND SINGING FOR THE CHAMPIONS !

What I'd say to those Celtic fans who exploded with rage after Fulham's David Healy played an imaginary flute at Craven Cottage: Have a word with yourselves. Your fans had been singing to the Protestant-born Ulsterman "where were you on the 12th" and he gave his reply, with a big smile on his face, pretending to be in an Orange band.

Those who took to the forums calling for criminal proceedings to be brought on race-hate grounds should log back on and re-read their pay-off lines. "Orange ****" and "Dirty Hun b******" were two that caught the eye. We all know the score here Bhoys. So drop the moral outrage. It looks a bit phoney.

SS

My memory of the "sean south" affair is of a poster who had a strongly held opinions (mostly doom & gloom)& was very scathing of anyone who challenged them. He/She seemed to expect everyone to accept his pearls of wisdom & not disagree with them & if you did he got upset, I remember a number of posters challenging his views & even some calling him names but he came over as a "big boy" and should have been able to handle it. He put forward some strong views on a public forum & then didn't like it when he was challenged. Nobody chased him away, I think he just left when he realised he wasn't getting an adoring audience.
The blog has been a difficult read the last wee while, even today accusations of season ticket cancellations are flying about but so far I've not seen any proof of it, the explaination of people being asked to return to their seats appears plausable, why would Celtic risk bad PR this week of all weeks by publicly expelling people when it could all be done by post/email?

Again, I'd like to know just exactly how a season book is removed from a supporter. Polite request? Handed over meekly? Force?

Couldn't make the game last night due to work but my two sons have given a glowing report on the BHOYS performance highlighting Massimo, Cillian and wee Scotty. Great to see the cardigan's cracks beginning to show and I have no fears this will continue.

Although I've been a severe critic of the walkout last week and how it was done, still wrankles with me. The club have got it drastically wrong if they have banned any supporters without discussing or given written warnings on their paricular behaviour. I hope it's just speculation and rumour.

Still think we as a club need to be more pro-active away from home on this issue. I'm getting dragged in again ARGHHHHH!

The Club should have let things lie after fulltime on Saturday. I'm not impressed with using stewards to do this when they can't keep spectators off the pitch.

All this seems to do is keep the issue simmering when it could have been allowed to settle completely.

Brainless bullying by the club.

Although I only lurked, i always thought SS was Shug keevins due to his controversail posting habits

Shaun? Sean? Is it really you? There's a few people you owe a drink...

Is John Read to blame for the injury crisis, he's the boogie man for everything else according to some people!

If we can't be positive about our team after our response to the Old Firm defeat then we never can! Watched the Rangers game last night, was mightily impressed by the 07/08 Donati in the Rangers midfield. Don't led anyone be kidded, the drop in Mendes form is textbook from him and nothing to do with the return of Ferguson. I always thought we might have to play catchup this year but it is we who have the look of the runaway train.

Well done the Tinkerman!

holy cow batman! sean souths real name is "brian" and you say our chairmans been using his m.i.5. spooks to go round wee boys seats dressed as steward ninja pickpockets to steal their season tickets, quick tell the cardigan, he can blame timmy murphy too

thismancraig

I'm interested to know about Mendes' drops in form. Would be good news if true as I saw him as a step up from the rest. I know he had a broken leg in one season at (Portsmouth?). Read that Ferguson was up to his usual stuff - trying to play everyone else's position. Keep it comin', Bazza! I'm sure your loyal fans will adore you for it.

Was impressed again by Scott Brown's directness. If something he lacks it's balance and control. There were a few times yesterday when Naka played up to him on the right then made the run expecting the layoff but it looked from my angle that Brown couldn't quite get the ball under control and made the 'safe' pass back to Donati.

Still, overall, encouraged by everything that's happening at the moment!

Judging from your first remark here, the words 'pot' and 'kettle' spring to mind. I think that, given your occupation, your use of any term connected with morality should be carefully avoided.

Celtic looked so confident last night. Really pleasing.
I was concerned about Mark Brown coming in for AB. Although he wasnt called upon much last night he is doing himself no harm and his confidence will be growing. He may well prove me wrong and become a reliable back up keeper.

Well done Mark (clean sheet) Brown (gotta love that nickname)

SS, mines a Glenmorangie, make it a double..

Couldn't get on last night so I had an early night!

Good performance last night but against little opposition. No failures and some very good individual performances especially the much maligned Massimo, both full backs and bid Cillian.

Nice to bump into three CQNers in the Jock Stein Stand!

It was great to be playing at the same time as them for once, just like the old days. Their result coming through changed a routine home win into a big result. 4 clear already! December 27 is looking like a very big game (what's new?) with all of the pressure on them

And talking of pressure ... Walter is clearly feeling it. The manner of his naming of Mr Murphy and his past record was appalling. He may as well have told him to go home.

How you gonna come?
Will you hand over your season ticket
Or hit with your macaroon bar

Hew,

I said sadly the same company, because it's not a great company to work for. It wasn't a reflection on SS himself.

You went on to say he was a more principled individual than myself, thereby placing yourself in a place of judgment, hence use of the phrase moral high ground.

As I said, I'm not looking for confrontation with the guy.

And incidentally, the way journalists find things out is by asking questions when opportunities arise.

Pot and kettle. Easy to have a go at journalists, isn't it?

Honestly bhoys I was thrown out of Parkhead about 7 years ago for preventing two suited Irish prats from racially abusing Marvin Andrews. Me and them were thrown out. None of us were in possession of season books. I wrote to Celtic complaining and was informed that it "might" have been unfortunate they stood by their wonderful stewards. If the two suits were say 10 years younger I reckon they would have kicked the bejezzus out of me. Not a pleasant experience at all and since then I lost all faith in the policing of Celtic Park and those responsible for it. Every Celtic fan I have ever spoken to about it shrugged their shoulders and sad "Huh - shit happens" :-)

I personally think that this is just a salvo in part of the media war with regards TFS. No way can Celtic justify taking these season tickets of of anyone who has peacefully protested.

It was the decision of the protesters to protest. Whether it was right or wrong we have debated on here ad nausea. It was the decision of the Celtic Board to remove those that protested. This action will ultimately lead to publicity and public debate. It might even lead to a legal challenge which Celtic would hopefully lose. This will indicate to the world at large that Celtic plc were against this protest and have made it clear to those that protested that they were against their protestations in the name of Celtic football club. That will negate all the adverse publicity that the fourth estate have thrown their way since we elected to have a minutes applause. Will the fourth estate now come out publicly congratulating Celtic plc that they took strong action? errrrm I dont think so but they have now been backed into a corner and I reckon that Celtic plc will feel that it has been worth it due to the fact that they would have preferred the protest not to have taken place. Worth losing them is how they think.

Will a possible court case find Celtic in breach of the law? I certainly think that would happen having read their/our own code of conduct within the stadi. That´s going to make the fourth estate and all those that tried to trash the image of Celtic for not imposing a minutes silence since Saturday into eating humble pie. They can´t be seen to advocate violating human rights to peaceful protest.

It does make it interesting though to those who come to Celtic Park and flagrantly breach the code of conduct like Manchester United fans at Celtic park in a CL game? Are they going to wade in and remove those fans ? during a CL game ? possibly reacting after the event like the precedent that has been set last night ? or will it be Rangers fans at the next Celtic Park game? Will Ewan Cameron feel compelled to discuss publicly a couple of thousand Rangers fans being ejected from Celtic Park for breaking the law ?

I mean if they are going to throw out legitimate peaceful protesters that are our own .. what are they going to do with rabid scum ?

For all those tims that are outraged about this then I refer you to my first paragraph and will tell you that it is nothing new. Many tims have been thrown out for less.

Interesting times ahead and as Gweedorebhoy has already intimated the next away game should be a point of particular interest.

Needless to say no communication coming from the highest levels. If this is an attempt at media manipulation then come Sunday afternoon they might well and truly regret taking the actions that they have.

If 5000 Rangers fans sing TFS without fear of punishment at Celtic Park next time then I wouldn´t be surprised at all to hear all sorts of PROVOcative songs at Celtic Park for the next Old Firm game.

I will now go into lurking mode and post again on Sunday.

Hail Hail

Not surprised by that, Zaluska's looked good from what I've seen. I don't know if we need him, though, Brown looks perfectly comfortable deputising at the moment and I don't see Zaluska getting a game ahead of Boruc. He'd probably prefer to remain where he is, playing every week.

"With Strachan's coaching skills and the natural 'bulking up' of Sheridan, we could see another Sutton soon."

I did indeed. Quite disconcerting as he now sounds, as well as looks like, Dustin Hoffman.

Loads of drinking and singing.

Gareth was holding the baby.

Think the Oz one returns from Barcelona today. Party in deepest darkest Lanarkshire tomorrow night, I believe. No pass for me.

Call you later today, nursery run approaches, then work

Drunken Lullabies,

I don't see him getting a game ahead of Artur, I see him getting a game instead of AB. I think he'll move on for decent money in the summer with all our thanks.
I see this as forward planning or we may get a half decent offer for Brown say £500k.
He would prefer to play every week but he'd also like 5 times his cash with us. For this see afore mentioned M Brown.

Missed game last night (nappy-changing duty), but was encouraged by highlights and by catching the odd 5 minutes of the Rears game on Setanta. Gordon and the Bhoys should eb given tremendous credit for extending the lead in the face of a terrible injury crisis and a CL campaign.

On the GB issue. I'm aware I've probably bored people to death with my opposition to the protest on Saturday, and I don't want to harp on about this. But before we make martyrs of the lads ejected (if that is indeed what happened), I think we should remember a few important things.

1. The poppy has never been a symbol of divisiveness for Catholics in Scotland, or for Celtic fans here, (unlike in Northern Ireland).

2. Therefore, this protest was an attempt to import a grievance from NI to CP. In effect, to use CP as a forum for a minority political concern.

If you want to make a political statement at CP, and disregard the wishes of the club, then I'm afraid you e to be big enough to take the consequences.

Alternatively, make your protest somewhere else- in the street for example...

We are talking about a fellow poster on the forum and a self-confessed member of the same calling as your own. And it only now that you are "asking questions when opportunities arise."

It is you that used the term 'journalists" And Yes, it is. But at least I am not being gratuitous or disingenuous."

Might be in Leeds around 6pm with canamalar for a drink, meeting him around 5pm in Manchester, if we do go to Leeds any CQN are welcome to meet up, trying to start the Grand Lancastershire, Warwickshire and Yorkshire Alliance otherwise to be known as "The Shires Clique".

Any tips for drinking spots that has real ale around Leeds would be welcome, I've been to McGuires several times with the Vim the Tim crew so know that well.

Paul67.

Again I wasn't at the game but watched it on T/V.

There are times during a season you'll get an easy game,And last night was one of those,we've played Killie three times already this season and they all have been a touch easy for us3-1,3-1,3-0.
Celtic were a class above them and that was playing at half pace.Gordon said in one of his Press Conferences that Celtic were training without having any contact with each other,I think the bhoys took the same attitude on to the Park last night,Although Skelton had other ideas against Nakamura.

Celtic were good last night and I'm glad that Massimo is coming back into a bit of form.
Last season we were calling for Scott Browns,Gary Caldwell and Andeas Henkels heads,For the last five or six games they are first to get praised, and all three are playing as well as they ever have in a Celtic Jersey.

I'd like to pass a comment on the troubles that seemingly happened last night regarding the ejection of a number of supporters from the seats they were occupying.
I'm inclined to agree with Freebirdsflys comment at 10.08am,that they were ejected from seats that weren't thiers.
We can all have an opinion about that, and heres mine.
I haven't been to the last three game and would be most annoyed if someone parked their backside in my seat, not because I'm an old fuddy duddy,It's just that I would be held responsible if there was any trouble caused by anyone who had used my seat.
There could very well be letters sent to people who weren't even at the game last night, thats what would worry me if it had happened in my section of the ground.

Hew

You're the one impugning the profession or calling of journalism.

As I say, have you identified him from what was posted?

All in all, I really have no concern what you think of me or my profession, so why don't you go and get along with the rest of your life, OK?

One pleasing memory from last night was the Samaras substitution after Cillian scored his 2nd.

You see Skippy turning his back, trying to hide from the sub flashing board number, while Cillian stares across at it and then points with delight at Skippy when he sees the number 7 go up.

A great wee comic moment. I love it when players are desperate to play.

ItaliaBhoy,

I thought they did. Peacefully protest in the street that is.
I stayed in the street until 5 minutes after the match stared at the Queen mothers minute silence

It would seem to me that Hitler has indeed won if we are no longer allowed to peacefully protest.

If Artur does indeed leave the club in the summer then Zaluska would be a pretty good replacement, although Artur would be missed. And it would be better to sign him up now (or in January, even) before he gets noticed by other clubs. What's more, it would make our Co-op Cup semi much easier! So yes, good forward planning if Artur Boruc leaves in the summer, but he just signed a new contract at the start of the year so I think we'll get another season out of him yet, unless he decided to pull a Stan, as it were.

Awe Naw, the protest (a walk out) occurred inside the ground, as well as some booing during the applause.

I know this is an emotive issue but your comment "Hitler has won" is ridiculous, with respect.

Welcome 1RudiVata, good to hear from you, a very underrated player too.

Corrib 04 Tuesday - thanks for the advice re. 'walking' to Paradise. Popped into Bar67 for a quick pint of the tar, thought I'd arrived in Donegal at first.

Good craic right enough.

BTW anyone else think that the Loyal Cardigan was guilty of pandering to the sectarian bile by naming the (Irish-sounding) linesman who chalked off their 'goal'? Did I miss something or did he name the linesman who DIDN'T helpout Mr. McCurry last season at Ibrox v. Dundee Utd.? Will he now name every linesman that is involved in every disputeable decision from now on? If not why not?

aw naw

totally agree mate

This mass protest is a nonsense

people protested outside the ground, and they have a right to do so

Reports of a mass walkout in the stadium are nonsense
I did not see many if any people leave during the applause but i have been told the booing was for some people leaving

At the end of the day EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion and must not be given a doin for stating so

my own is that the situation is so raw for some people that it is a very sensitive situation. The Poppy has now become the symbol for all British Service Personnel and all battles fought (and present wars)

People who are unhappy to wear a poppy have every right to be, particularly if there are reasons for doing so

What everyone needs to remember is that for anyone with relations in ireland or indeed who are from Ireland, the British Army have muirdered Innocent people on many occasions so if people do not want to support this cause then they cannot be slaughtered for not doing so

ITALIA BHOY

i take your point mate about not bringing this to CP and fair doos, but unfortunately this is still very very raw for some people and this is a massive part of their lives.

This has been completely ignored by many people

I tried posting at around 9am but had a problem with posting. Here is the gist of it: We have no sooner rid ourselves of Poppygate when some on here are keen to criticize our club over what is only speculation. Is it not possible that the stewards were moving people to their proper seats? We have read , after all, that many young fans move to that area because of the atmoshere.
I see now, from a post above, that this , indeed, might be the case. regarless, can we not just wait and see before doing the job of those who attack us at any opportunity?

I am looking for 2 tickets together for the Celtic end for Sunday.

Are they still available?

The Bhoys are playing some good flowing football just now, i just hope we can keep this run going. Young Sheridan has done well for a young lad who is only 19yrs old and with the help of an on form Skippy is leading the line well and took his two goals on wednesday with great aplong. And with squad down to the bare bones credit has to be given to the fringe players who are coming and doing an excellent job. A special mention to Koki Mizuno who has only played a limited time for the 1st team has already shown glimpses that he too could be a star at Paradise.
