i see our transfer budget might be about to receive a £2 million boost. Stilyan Petrov is about to sign a new contract with villa. I presume this will take him beyond the threshold of games played for villa to the point where they have to pay the final tranche of his fee. The initial fee i believe was £6.5 million with a further £2 million to be paid on a number of games played

have you heard anything on this

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,

They're the finest team in Scotland, I'm sure you will agree,
We'll never give up till we've won the cup and the scottish football league

They come from bonnie Scotland, they come from county Cork,

They come from dear old Donegal and even from New York,

From every street in Glasgow they proudly make their way,
To a place called dear old paradise and this is what they say.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They're the finest team in Scotland, I'm sure you will agree,
We'll never give up till we've won the cup and the scottish football league.

There's Fallon, Young and Gemmel who proudly wear the green,
There's Clark, McNeill and Kennedy the best there;s ever been,
Jim Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, John Divers and John Hughes,
And sixty thousand Celtic fans who proudly shout the news.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They're the finest team in Scotland, I'm sure you will agree,
We'll never give up till we've won the cup and the scottish football league.

We all have to make changes in our life, remember its never too late to change!!

I fully expect you to give up the drink completely :) or failing that until Celtic do 10 in a row!

What about Rangers? tough game for them tonight, would you agree?

UNEWMike, that you on National Express's Wi-Fi! I thoroughly enjoyed spending most of a King's X-Glasgow trip on CQN via Wi-Fi last year.

Lennondhino18, earlier today: thanks for the info. I thought that McCourt had got over his injury and had made the 1st team since then but I didn't see him listed recently.

I'm hopeful for a few goals tonight, especially if we can score early.

MacDonald looks back to scoring form, although his overall game still needs to be sharper. Sheradin has done well for a young boy. It would be nice to see him on the score sheet again. And Naka likes scoring against Killie!

It would be nice to see Sami and Koki coming on the with game won.

I'm going 4-0 with big Cillian for the first goal.

I believe we will win tonight if Mr Hartley and Mr Hinkel's beards are included in the line-up. Kilmarnock will wince at the sight of those mighty flowing hairy adornments. I think a goal a piece for both beards, with Mr Hartley's beard scoring a diving beard. I will also be attending tonight to put of the hairless face of the kilmarnock goalkeeper with this fetching beard.

Wonderbeards beard for tonight

i want to see Paddy Mc. From the little I have seen he offers something out of the ordinary.

Hotsmoke,

I replied in the last article to you incase you think i'm ignoring you.

Celtic to win 4-0, instead of my regular predication saying the Ghod-Like Caldwell to get a hat-trick I am going to buck the trend and say the Ghod-Like Caldwell to score four goals. So no hirsute-face tims on the scoreboard tonight, just the clean-shaving Ghod-Like Caldwell.

As for those posters that mocked dieties playing in Paradise earlier, don't quake for the Ghod-Like Calwell is omnibenevolent to members of the Timmite Tribe but cower thee that are members of the Hunnite Tribe for the Ghod-Like Caldwell is an Omniheadcase to those spawns of Satan.

When exactly did Gary Caldwell become the 'Ghod-like Caldwell'. Was it after the 2-1 win over Rangers when he drove the team forward at the end? It certainly wasn't after the Barca 3-2 defeat. He seemed to miss out on beatification, sainthood etc and went straight to the top.

Some talk of Ghod Like Players.. Gary Caldwell, comes to mind,

and I will solemnly wag may tail,And agree,
for indeed, He is a Find,

But of all the Celtic Players that are playing ball, to day,
There's a fellow who in my opine is Improving in his play,

He is a Sleeping Giant, a Thousand pound Gorilla in the Room,

And will shock many readers of this blog,

When He suddenly bursts into Full Bloom,

Who is this Player of whom I speak?

Can you guess his name or position?

He has Two Big "Ms" in his last name, with a little "c"...in addition.

When oh when oh when will someone in the old media make a point about the differing attitude to Scotland of the current celtic and rangers camps? We have another case today of walter smith telling George burley he shouldn't play ferguson for the full 90 mins (even though he'll be sure to play for rangers before then)...this follows on from Boyd gate, Mcculloch gate, their players continually pulling out of squads. Comapre this to Celtic - players always available, players forced to go home even though they want to stay and in the middle of a full blown injury crisis our manager encouraging all his players to play for Scotland

TNT, for the avoidance of doubt, in case the omnibenevolence of the Ghod-like Caldwell is only quasiomnibenevolent, I was not a mocker and ne'er a mocker shall I be. Indeed,if it helps get in his Ghod-like's good books, I shall soothsay the day when the moniker that lies on him that is known as Clapton shall be taken from him and delivered unto the Ghod-like Caldwell, protector of the Timmites and slayer and persecutor of the Hunnites of Govanea

Wonderbeard, you are fooling nobody. Anyone can see that was Jerry Garcia.

Hello chlopaki

Tomislav Duymovic
I'm reading Russian websites, searching for the news about Celtic.
Did I miss something, or what? Croatian midfielder, who will be free very soon, said: Celtic is interested in him. The same was confirmed by his agent Predrag Racki. Celtic offered 700 000 Euros per year salary. Player rejected preconditions.

collie

na!! still making the same mistakes as he was 4 years ago, what was it ghord said about "if you have to tell a player more than 4 times how to do something, and they still go and make the same mistakes then it's not worth perservering with said player"

was this not the reasoning behind punting the mad dane

there are some clowns who are telling burley to call boydechenco and ask him to play .
burley should reply ,
as soon as we get kilmarnock ,hamilton ICT and hibs in our next world cup qualifying section I will put his number on speed dial .

It is hard for a mere mortal to understand the ways of Ghods.

Ghod-Like Caldwell has no beginning because he is outside of the restrictions of time. The moment that the Ghod-Like Caldwell created time, that was "in the beginning". Barcelona was a test of faith. A man can no more diminish the Ghod-Like Caldwells glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.

Your theory is very probable. I wonder what happens with the football sponsorship in Russia next year. National budget is the same, based on the old prices of the minerals. I expect, the goverment of Russia is going to have the same income as it was put in the books. That might be hard time for the rich clubs there.

Narrowboat Tim - Thanks for the explanation even if I didn't understand it!

I watched a replay of the Motherwell last night and was surprised by the amount of times Celtic were caught offside.
Part of the tactics of the opposing team other than kicking hell out of us is to play the offside game. Our forwards were so naive against Motherwell that they must have been flagged between a dozen to twenty times on Saturday, does nobody explain to the players that all they do is give possession to the opposing team when caught offside.

I hope the same tactics aren't employed by Killie,or wer'e in for a boring game.

Sorry guys but this guy has more than his share of opportunities.

Last time I heard him in a mid field line up I texted my son. "WGS needs his bum felt"

Motherwell were of the same mind and won 0-1.

I do not think we will get beat of course but I think it would be a more comfirtable night without him.

Hope I'm wrong and he scores a hat trick.

Another missed opportunity to give Caddis a runout.

Surprised to see Naka and Maloney back in action so soon.

Oh well here's hoping for another good 3 points. Think our subs bench will have a big part to play.

Squad rotation in full flight...

Hope Wee Gordon won't start doing a Rafa Benitez and turn out 53(!) different line ups a season, the injury situation will pitch in players who are not all match sharp, so what we don't need is line up changes for the sake of it.

Auldheid - bit harsh on I, Donut. He's only now settled in after his move from Italy - different game, food, culture, weather, language to contend with. He's got a lot to prove, knows it, and will show it.

Obviously wee Gordon still thinks Massimo can do a job and although I still have my doubts even with his more than decent displays recently, we have got to have faith in our litle red haired genius's selection. He doesn't get it wrong that often.

C'mon the Celts.

the short time that donati has been on the pitch at the end of games, albeit in most cases when games have been won, with the exception of the cl game, he has looked strong on the ball and i'm sure he is in the team on merit. that and hartley-robson proably could do with a break. hartley and robson will be in for the next away game no doubt as they offer something different to donati.

Good article from Spiers on the last thread.

I have no faith in Mr Donati, his beard is not nearly fulsome enough for me, hopefully though he has grown it in the last few days and proves me wrong with a sublime overhead beard. Mr Hartley on the bench, what a waste of a venomous beard. I suspect Mr Strachan is anti-beard what with only one beard represented. Beard discrimination Celtic, not good enough

All Celtic so far. Knocking the ball around well

UTLR from the last thread

Thanks for taking the time to post on the last thread on the subject of the Green Brigade. I was trying to make clear when I posted the other night that my problem wasnt with the Green Brigade itself, not at all. I have enjoyed the atmosphere and colour they have brought to our part of the ground, I particularly liked the Famine banner from some time last season.

My gripe is with the young guys who have invaded the area from all over. They'll come over, maybe find a couple of seats then phone all their pals to come over. It may not sound like much but I know for a fact that many people around us are not too happy about it. As I said before if the young guys have tickets for there then that's no problem, it's the ones that don't that are.

I'd be happy to help set out any displays or such that you might be planning in future, we are usually in very early so it wouldn't be a problem. I sit up the back of 111 in row SS and you'll see either me or my wife stressed out with our two bhoys in tow!

Thanks again for your reply, maybe I had posted in haste before but it is a problem though it's reassuring to know you guys have advised them to stay away if not from there. Maybe we'll bump into each other and say hello. Family circumstances (ie no babysitter) have meant that I am not there tonight.

Hail Hail

Man I am stuck in an internet cafe following this from you guys thankfully. It is very annoying. I hope this turns out ok. We have started well by the sounds of things.

Bit of a training session this one. Donati has just had a wee dive in the box.

Phew! Thought we were going to have to miss another penalty there...

Killy haven't had the ball in the last 10 mins. More goals please Celtic.

Killie starting to get frustrated. Hope we can get through this injury free!!!

More importantly at the moment the hounds of hell are level. Spurs 2 nil up on Liverpool

just our final ball into the box that needs improved, bossing the game otherwise

Make that 3- 0 to Spurs. Mendes to White Hart Lane in a month or and Hutton back to TFOD?

Lardo66 - cheers but think streaming links are a no-no.

Decent first half. Our passing through the midfield has been irresistible at times but, aside from the goal, the final ball hasn't been great.

Possession 60-40 to Celtic. I wouldn't have been surprised to see it was 80-20. Killie have done very little.

An early goal in the second half could turn it into a free for all.

Cmon the Hoops!
H

Any one know of a bar in Saigon that will show the game on Sunday?

I have sang the praises of our boys in recent weeks with my mate from Kilkenny who was working in Krakow. Consider who we have not had and we are doing bloody well. Would TFOD win as many with similar injuries?

They turned us round to play the other waym haven't seen that in a couple of years.

Decent first half with some good passing but lacking an end product. Donati and Brown playing well and the full backs getting forward too.

Very nice goal from Sheradin. Almost Suttonesque as he won the header, got onto the return and paased it into the net.

Let's finish this off bhoys.

Angus Young,
Go raibh Míle maith agat.
Thanks mo chara, for that link.
First time watching on live stream.
Good game, though we should be 4 up. Great to see Cillian scoring again.
Brown(Scott), Caldwell and Naka stand out for me.
That been said, Killie are crap.
We should finish them early in the second half and relax.
No slip ups.

That's what Ah call Entertainment.

Some wonerful, wonerful, wonerful, foist time passing from the Bhoys..

Extraordinary, really... Celtic are playing wit Confidence..

Hail Hail

Donati is playing very well, he is starting to realise that he wont get time on the ball. When he is not sure what is around him he knocks it out with his first touch to Wilson and Hinkle.

Naka is doing well, always in space and looking for the ball. From his crossing and set pieces though i think we can see he isnt fully fit.

Cillian starting to look more at home with every passing game. Brilliant goal, made and finished by him.

The back four looking comfortable, Hinkle and Wilson doing well going forward. McDonald is working hard but its not happening for him tonight. Hopefully things start coming off for him in the second half.

Brown and Maloney having decentgames.

Brown in goal has had nothing to do except for a few nervy moments at the start of the game when he had the ball at his feet.

Agree though, we are trying to walk the ball into the net now

Don't see that very often. Celtic players formed the wall for Kilmarnock to give Naka something to bend the ball round. High and wide

If it has green and white kick it anything else then play fair.

No worries KrawkowBhoy, as Porridge says, Killie centre back just raked Sheridans calf twice within 2 mins with same type of tackle...

Did anyone notice when that Killie did not line up a wall for two free kicks in the first half. This was obviously a tactic that worked well as it allowed their keeper a clear sight of the ball. Celtic just had a freekick a minute ago and I counted 4 of our defenders making up a wall. However,Naka blasted it towards planet Jupiter!

mbradso

got it mate times 2. I am thick

Should be comfortable now. Subs on quick to save a few from the enthusiastic Killie tackles.

Great goal.
Corner cleared to Massimo who cut inside the box and hit a low shot which the keeper saved. Ball broke to Sheridan who slaughtered it into the roof of the net from 6 yds.

Skippy off for Sami.. bit surprised at that one, maybe Sheridan fancied a hatrick?!

Good Finish for that one. The Bhoy done good

Corner broke to Donati who fired a great shot that the keeper could ony parry out. Cilly was right on hand to fire a shot high into the net. Good poachers goal from teh young khid.

great save from McGregor from Hughes... drat and double drat.....

Hinkel down, elbowed by Cox. Hopefully protected by the beard.

Killie player lays out Hinkel - not even spoken to.

bob Malcolm almost nails one in top corner from 25 yards

For all those facial hair watchers: my feed just froze on a shot of Donati. The picture scrambled a bit and it looked like he was sporting an enormous green moustache.

I have to say he wore it well.

Papac stretchered off at Fir Park

Marty - quite right it wasn't Maloney - might have been Cillian. Sometimes hard to tell on a 3in screen :)

Cillian coming off - played very well

Sheridan goes off to a rousing applause
Caddis on.

Great performance and result tonight.
Any news of the darkside?

Ach, he's no bad. As Pastyface says, he could do with a trip to the barber.

Give me young Willo any day after his Bobby Carlos-like run in the lead up to the corner before the second goal!

Gus.

0-0 FT

0.0 m'well, that'll dink dan do for me...

aras aris.... :-)

tears on the radio..

FT 3-0

Good performance tonight. Excellent in bursts. Third goal (after Naka was played in by BROWN) was the pick of the bunch. The Bhoys will have enjoyed that game

Hail Hail all.

4 points ahead. interesting december ahead. im hoping for the miracle of a last 16 in the champions league. Less stress involved in that than going into the uefa cup were we potentially could play a lot of games. Mind you if Rangers keep chucking points away as they are doing we may have a cushion. They were rank tonight no ideas and no idea how to change it, they didnt look fit and were n ot busting a gut as thye had been doing for their manager.

Our rivals results tonight.

Villarreal 1 - 1 Poli Ejido (1-6 agg)

A strong looking Villarreal team go out of the Spanish Copa Del Rey to the team from Segunda B the four league third teir of Spanish football.

FC Nordsjaelland 1 - 2 Aalborg BK

7th v 9th in league playing in the Danish Cup.

Apologies for the outage tonight, the blog went into four-in-a-row overload.

Blog broken?

Very good, I thought Hinkel's beard was the difference

Ah. Thanks, Paul.

My dear bhoy Paul67, this sort of thing would not happen if the blog or yourself had a beard

Whooooooosh !

FollowFollow in meltdown tonight -

demanding the sackings of Smith,McCoist,Miller,Ferguson,Murray,Bain,Mendes and Lafferty.

Charlie Adams escaped the hit list.......

Bhoys

I would call that a solid controlled performance - against a team intent on kicking us out of it and with a ref who did nothing to protect the players.

The kind of performance I do not recall very often from our much maligned defence.

Well done Big Cilla - Broony again brilliant and a word for Massimo "chomp chomp chomp" that was the sound of me eating my words on him - and I am very happy he proved me wrong. Well done massimo

I'm in a good mood. Can't put my finger on it.

How are you all doing?

I'm ecstatic, my beard looks good.

Paul67,

Driving home tonight then all of a sudden Walter has started already. The Keegan similarity outburst has begun very early this year. Sounds like a man under pressure.

Couldn't believe what i was hearing. Asked about Boyd's offside goal he commented that "The linesman Mr Murphy" who allowed an offside goal for Celtic by McDonald against Rangers last season was at it again. Basically insunated that a bit of skulduggery was happening. Accusing the lineman of cheating was the best he could come up with. "they say that Rangers get all the decisions" weird comments coming from Walter.

Noel

You serious mate?

Any choice quotes?

WGS,

heard that one too.

Priceless...Unsurpassed dignity!

Hail Hail Maximus man of the match!

El Cardo and Dignity Fc`s mask is beginning to slip ...and so early in the season

He named an official and in said statement inferred a pro Celtic /anti Hun bias

utterly disgraceful ...where was he when brother McCurry was dishing out his favours ... making no comment

however,,
good to see things are not all well down ipox way

the financial crisis must be really biting ...he was in the papers last week preparing the way for another fire sale in jan

also his only saleable asset KT is now crocked ..and for sometime

wonder how long it will be until the Mcgregor sale stories start again

we on the other hand are working like well oiled machine and still in first gear
it was easy tonight because we made it look so ...well done one and all

WGS

Hope you're well buddy.

Wonderbeard

Christoph Metzelder has a triumphant beard.

Jinkysbhoy,

You got mail,

Martin.

FAO of Mhark67

Frequented your bar a couple of times a couple of years ago in Nerja.

You might not remember me, but my son wore the Hoops with "Westy" on the back and had a yellow streak through his hair (lol).

You let us in to watch the Pre-season matches in Poland even though you were closed to the public. Thanks again for that.

Hope things are going well.

W G S,

Heard Walter myself, I thought that he sounded like a man under severe pressure but that was the only way he could hide it.

They have won at Easter Road and Celtic Park and are still 4 points behind us tonight,

Great isn't it.

STAND UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS,

Martin.

Wonderbeard King of the Beards

I have just clicked on your profile and taken not of the link that tells me how to grow my beard> I am 8 days in and its getting itchy - Will persevere.

Some of thos guys have good beards - I am jealous indeed

Celtic Sep,

How you doing mate.

FREE THE OWEN 1 !!

WGS-

:))))))))))

Rumours that I am German are wide of the mark.

But I do have a stunning beard.

Firstly well doen to the Bhoys tonight. A great result and a fine run of games to keep going. Especially with so many players having been involved in it.

Que: Walter Smith

His post match interview was grasping at straws. Technically it was not a naturally scored goal. I´m sure the Well keeper pulled up when he heard the whistle and therefore made no attempt at making a save. To malign the linesman and to bring up the instance of the same linesman denying an offside for Skippy´s goal against them in April while emphasising his name was Murphy is masking the away problem Rangers have had playing away under Walter Smith for some time now. I wonder if the Ibrox hoardes are taking up his offering of a token excuse and not questioning his stewardship. All will be fine until the January sales start.

Too many games being profferred by Setana as an excuse? had me chortling. Celtic not dropping a point since the "Cousin" disaster :-) and Terry Butcher being sharply cut off when suggesting that its not as easy as recuperation of lost points within old firm games - it doesn´t work that way. No expansion on that subject.

4 points clear under the circumstances is a fabulous effort by all involved.

Well done the bhoys it´s been a good night.

Hail Hail

I understand Mr Conroy was the man in the middle tonight. Expect both he and Mr Murphy to be named and shamed tomorrow.

Walter Smith - "Like the Murphy's, he's not bitter"

Paul, apologies if that infringes on any copyright on your blog, sir.

It's a grand old night when yer mates can't agree on man-of-the-match and when the h...hu...hu*...what can I call them?? anyway, they drew and we go even further ahead. Magic!!

GPM at 9:28..."wee nacho" you at it????
Don't want to start a cyber war - just seems like a strange phrase. Also, if your user name is quoting the song sung by the Wolfetones, amongst others, you're one word out.

The head hun was as un-relaxed as I've seen in an interview in years.

Linesman last season...geez peace.

McDonald at Inverness, McDonald at home to Hibs last season. We all get them for us and against us. 50-50 calls.

What about two weeks ago at New Douglas Park?

Get in roon ye...

How far?

Right roon.

Walked to the game behind a`group of young Killie fans. One of them asks me what I think the score will be 'no idea' I say - 'I think you'll take three off us' says he. I fail to place bet on his advice. We turn the corner into London Road and one of them says 'I've no idea where to go lads'. One of them says 'it's ok, there's the tunrstiles' - he points across the road to the Turnstiles Bar. He was serious.

We were outstanding tonight, so far ahead of Kilmarnock it's just not true. Skippy was excellent, playing with confidence, no failures really, but Sheridan is a player. Strong in the air, defends well, links well and two cracking striker-goals.

Well done to Owen Coyle. Always nice to see that team beaten.

new article posted.

Celtic are going through a very testing period with a squad seriously depleted by injuries.

Over by, and south of the river, blazing a trail in the hunt for a top six finish, their city rivals, Rangers, fielded the team, named below, in what for them should have been a must win game. A must win game if they hope to excert any sort of intimidating pressure on those contesting for a place in the top six.

I know there is a long way to go, and many pitfals await, but honestly, does this team have the look of champions about them?

Rangers (4-4-2): McGregor; Broadfoot, Bougherra, Weir, Papac (Whittaker 81); Davis, Ferguson, Mendes, Lafferty (Novo 76); Miller, Boyd.
Subs: Alexander, Edu, McCulloch, Loy, Shinnie.

Martin 42,

Funny isn't it. Yet through all our injuries crisis we have just got the head down and got on with it.

Rangers balance in the team has gone now Thmopson out. Ferguson likes to be everywhere on the park. He tries to doe everything. Le Guem sussed him out, but in the end there was no discipline at their club at the manager got the hook. Apaarently, coming home tonight they said that Mendes was so in effective. Why? Easy answer Ferguson. Rangers did have a good balance to their team when Thompson played. He was left footed as well which Ferguson and Mendes are both not.

From Fascist Fascist.............

"That Tarrier establishment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is now working wonders, make no bones about it theses refs/linesmen etc see it as there duty to do us down.

They see it as payback time for there years of paranoia when the big bad Proddies helped The Rangers at every opportunity."

:o))))

pablophanque

The phrase utterly utterly dominant doesn't do justice to how utterly utterly utterly dominant we were tonight. As Paul Ince might have said, it was men against foetuses.

And Noel is back on the blog!!

WGS

I'm good mate. Not so sure the Owen 1 is in our price range.

Gordon Strachan we salute you.

Metzelder is a member of the whiskers commitee, although he has reached a cheekblock with his growth. The rumours that he is using nourishing follicle stimulators are wholly unfounded, he has assured me he is au natural. Ah jinkysboy, stay the pace, I had a vision when i read your last comment, I see you in 3 months looking like this

jinkysboy's future facial masterpiece

The is some rather disturbing news circulating that the Green Brigade area has been 'raided' tonight and Celtic fans ejected by stewards and Police and season cards removed like criminals because they were involved in a 'poppy' protest and has been deemed as unacceptable conduct in Celtic's eyes.

Fred

Well said, don't we just. Three clean sheets in a row in the league - with those players missing? Sheridan's defending is outstanding, high praise to the back four. And the keeper. And so the boss.

Wonderbeard

Christoph is a man of quality as evidenced by his beard.

My stylish chin strap is merely a homage.

Setanta guys made the serious point that they have after all played seven games in 19 days and that did he, walter that is, feel fatigue was a factor. What planet are these guys on. We have played the same no of games, if I'm not mistaken, and not a word of it causing us any problems. We've also 11 players injured, played two tough games against Man U but as far as they are concerned its only because the orcs are tired. Absolutely nothing to do with us being a superior team of course, bar August's blip obviously.

Was panic stricken at one point. I thought Lubo had done an 01bhoy on us but lukily we got away with it.

Big_Liam

From the distance of the opposite stand, it seemed there was one steward and one police officer in that areafor a few moments in the first half. No-one seemed to be ejected. I trust you have the facts though.

On Donati.

I'll be delighted to be wrong but I saw a lot more in Caldwell to tell me he could develope into player.

However with Donnati it is attitude, concentration and decision making and if WGS has faith that he can improve these I'm happy to wait.

Maybe WGS is getting him ready for next season - succession planning?
