Dearth of SPL competition more evident
The thought was put to me last week by a Rangers fan that the "other" SPL clubs were not as good this year as last.
Dundee United took a home point against the champions and drew at Ibrox, St Mirren rose from the depths of bottom place in the table to beat then leaders Rangers, who also drew away to Aberdeen, but the lack of opposition from Hamilton, Motherwell and Hearts, to name only three, has been markedly different from last season.
Hamilton Accies put up as little opposition I can remember seeing from an SPL club at Celtic Park, and although Motherwell put on a respectable performance against a tired Celtic on Saturday, their opening 45 minutes against the champions at Fir Park in September was dire. As for fourth placed Hearts, their capitulation at Tynecastle last month was complete.
It is unreasonable to ask that any of the "others" put in a sustained challenge for the league, but I think the fact that no team has been able to make third place their own is a significant problem.
We have seen a plethora of teams finish third in the last decade or so, from Livingston to Motherwell (and Rangers), but this is territory Aberdeen should be making their own, instead of flirting with the bottom half of the table.
The problems at Hearts are too severe to expect any sustained performance and Dundee United have the resources to lift themselves above the likes of Motherwell, but it's Aberdeen who are punching well below their weight in Scottish football.
Ironically, their old boy, Mark McGhee, is demonstrating all the attributes current manager, Jimmy Calderwood, is clearly missing, catapulting Motherwell from second bottom to third top in a single season. I suspect a move north for McGhee would do the league a world of good.

The card 'will' put a smile on Martins face. No doubt about that.
As told by Ramie, "the doctors are at a loss to explain Martins illness; they originally thought it might be ‘Gullian Barre’(sp) disease only to discount it. However, it now appears that after discarding all other possible options, their original suspicions might be the case.
Dbbia you know better than most on here whether this is a ‘relatively’ good thing or not.
My earlier post was a request of Ramie’s to explain why he cant respond to all the well wishers, but the dig was mine… to one insensitive poster.
Is that a discreet call for a trip to the bookies?
Hmmmmm.
Paul, interesting take on Mark McGhee.
Usually the media in Scotland try to unsettle Rangers' next opponents by linking their star player with a move to either Rangers or Real Madrid, but this hint that Motherwell may be about to lose their manager is an interesting twist on the theme.
Just kidding.
Unless it means Walter Smith is for the boot and the Jimmies are Ibrox-bound at last.
WG
Why was Paul Quinn not the Motherwell captain on Saturday?
And did anything ever come of the assault he is alleged to have allegedly suffered late season from alleged Rangers fans with possible alleged sectarian motives?
Or did that not matter because nobody scratched the paintwork in anybody's Bentley? Allegedly.
I expect Mark McGhee will be waiting to see what his wee pal does in the summer before jumping ship from M'well. If WGS decided to call time then i think McGhee will be 1st choice replacement for the current Celtic board, especially if he guides M'week to another top 3 or 4 finish

Kit - many thanks to yourself and Ramie (and Kingoh) for the updates on Kano. His wife and kids must be going through hell just now. They are in my thoughts.
It was a wonderful gesture by DBBIA and the CQN bhoys were more than happy to write down their best wishes to a larger than life member of our cyber supporters club. I'm sure Martin will appreciate the sentiment once he's over the worst of this mystery illness.
Thanks again.
TTTT
This could be the most exciting thing to happen to Mark McGhee since he had a fight with our very own BoltonBhoy at playtime one day in primary school.
Paul,
I was thinking the same recently - the SPL is awfull and getting worse.
Two weeks ago I had a rant about our performance away to Man U. The sad fact is that that kind of step up in class of opposition is beyoned most mortals.
Another aspect of the SPL is that the Journos now spend more time talking about the circus around racial / sectarian stuff as the football is not worth talking about. 20 guys walking out on Saturday was given about 2 hours radio time between Real Radio and Clyde plus many tabloid inches.
Celtic have produced excellent results with so many players out injured but in fact - without taking anything away from those who played - that merely highlights your point.
I predict that next season the season book sales will fall dramatically with fans selecting which games they want to attend - and that will be a total disaster for a club like Celtic who depend heavily on the season book revenue.
Seville67
I´m surprised that Hibs dont get a mention. Here is a club that financially is performing well. Have Hibs not in the last few years performed financially better than any other club in Scotland ???
If Hibs could have held onto the likes of Caldwell, Murphy, Brown, Thomson, Whittaker, Killen, Murray, Stewart, Beuzilin, Sproule then they would have had the makings of a pretty good squad I feel. Celtic and Rangers would also be that little bit weaker.
The Hibs board spent so much on that big new shiny stand, that for all the money they have recopued, they have been unable to invest a penny in the 1st team squad
new stand or new players
i know what i would want
I don't know Kano, but he and his family are in my thoughts and prayers, Guillain-Barré syndrome can be tricky to diagnose and there are 3-4 different variants that make it a bit more complicated. Morton Weighorst had a bout of this when he was at Celtic. The good news is that if it is GBS then most people recover (it usually takes about a month before things start to improve, 3 months in hospital and a year before you're back to normal). There are a few different ways to contract it, but for all you CQNers out there it's a reminder to always ensure that you defrost your poultry properly as frozen chicken is one of the potential sources.
Kit- I'm very reluctant to get into speculation on the origins of Kano's illness, I'm sure he is getting excellent treatment in hospital.

unbelievable
On the football front, the majority of the SPL is rubbish, but I'm a Celtic supporter and I'll watch them no matter of the opposition, whether that be Barca, or a Women's Institute Select XI (or Hearts as they prefer to be called).

The Hibs example is very appropriate. I've a few mates who are Hibs fans. One used to go all the time when in his 20s, now rarely goes. The other is in his 20s and has just handed back his season ticket book this year.
A common gripe is how "The Infirm" poach all their best players, which is undeniably true. They also never shut up about how we "nicked" their team 100 years ago!
I always reply by asking them how many of their fans were at Hampden for their recent CIS finals and compare that number to those who go home games at Easter Road.
Wallace Mercer had the right idea in amalgamating Hearts and Hibs, he just went about it it in a hamfisted way and probably had in mind the absorption of Hibs rather than their marriage with Hearts. Edinburgh just doesn't have enough of a football soul to sustain a genuine challenge.
Celtic First
it was mate as they agreed they would stick by him
but i think there was another incident and that was the final straw, hence the change of heart
We are in a very difficult position - the financial disparity between us (and the Darnel) and the rest of the SPL clubs means we have no prospect of a competitive or exciting league, although there will occasionally be a freak result or plucky performance from one or two of the other 10 clubs.
Similarly the financial disparity between the bigger European leagues (particularly EPL) and us means that when we play at Champion's League level we cannot compete in footballing terms, although we do punch above our weight at home, in part because of the Celtic Park atmosphere and in part because of a plucky hard-working attitude on the part of the players.
In the short term I can only see both gaps widening with us bobbing along in no-man's land somewhere in the middle. I suspect that this, coupled with the general financial downturn, will present a significant challenge to PL next summer when it comes to maintaining season ticket income.
A guide to what we will miss when Naka decides to go...
http://www.uefa.com/trainingground/index.html#34004/2048/748009
Most leagues are dominated by one, two or (at best) three teams.
The gap between our league and the top four (Spain, England, Italy, Germany) and possibly five (France, though I have my doubts about the sustainable strength of the French league), is wide and growing, but we're able to compete with everyone else.
Most of European football is in the same boat.
Let's all move on, as fast as we can.
We used to be on a par with Liverpool and Man United (and everyone else) and can be again when the financial playing field becomes more equal. That's because we have a huge international support.
Hibs and Hearts have, at different times, been the dominant forces in Scottish football, but cannot bridge the gap and become dominant again (apart from the odd blip) because they do not have a big or broad enough support.
According to the BBC Kevin Thomson is out for the season.
A big loss to Rangers on and off the pitch, he is a very competitive player, and is one of the few who could be sold to alleviate the debt.
Though I find it difficult to have any time for him after his dive at Ibrox last season.

Good to see Naka is picking up the lingo.
KT out for the season - probably means that overall the SPL will have fewer injured players and fewer yellow cards issued than last year.
I usually offer get well wishes to any injured player- even Barry as he is a true Ranger who goes out to win for his club but KT sorry I am struggling with you. Your diving at Ibrox and persistent kicking of opponents means that you probably had it coming.

All this nonsense about Aiden going to Newcastle? why would he want to go there? Crisis United.
On a lighter note: My friend was speaking to the head groundsman at Newcastle the other day and complemented him on the excellent condition of the pitch at St James park.
He asked him how he managed it, what with the Geordie weather and that. The groundsman replied "It's easy, we cut the grass twice a week and every home game we put sixty million quids worth of sh*te on it."

Celtic need to drive out the lunatics that disgrace our club so as not to give the morons with the mikes a platform to attack us.
Let's be perfectly honest we were in a lose lose situation on Saturday.

Paul Drury in the Scottish Sunday Express wrote that 'several hundred' Celtic fans walked out and shocked Motherwell fans whose fathers had fought in the war.
I think Paul must have written this one on the night before the game.
I think we've managed to dodge a bullet, for another 12 months at least, the press will be busy thinking up the next noose that they'll try and get us to slip over our own head. Probably something to do with us calling Christmas Christmas and not Xmas or the Holiday Season. Anyone got any idea what the media's next anti-Celtic\Re-arrangers Smoke Screen agenda will be?
Paul67,
Do you know think that McGhee might be biding his time to see what materialises when GS decides to go?
Just before the walk out Scott Brown had a shot which bounced out after striking the foot of the post.
If that had gone in the departure of the disgruntled would have been lost in the general jubilation of another goal for les Champs.
Ravenheart35 yes unrest in celtic dressin room transfer requests wee gorden leavin all to unsettle us before xmas sorry christmas
Hi,
Interesting thoughts on McGhee but I'd disappointed if as suggested by a few he became the new Celtic manager. I don't think his team are good enough (admittedly with limited resources) and I really so no evidence of a track record.
Personally if I was to choose a Scot I'd go with Craig Levein. I like the style his teams play. I like the fact that he talks sensibly and intelligently. I like the fact that he hates Rangers after he feels he was robbed by pro-Rangers referreeing.... the biggest blot is his time in England but I believe he had key personnel sold from underneath him.

Sir Paul
You of all people know what I really, really, think about the concept known as, Good Luck.
Which term is not to be confused,in any way.. with the Concept of the term, Good Fortune.
I kid around about Luck.. as that Subject promises Beaucoup.. merriment.
Howevahhhhhhh..
I do not believe for one minute that there is Such thing as, Luck.. Per se.
Because...
I firmly believe..and, and this belief is unshakeable and implacable...
Everything, that happens in life and love and Soccerdom..
Is Always for the BEST.
No matter what are the feelings felt, one way or another, pro and con... at the time of the occurrence.
In expressing that firm belief, one can readily see, why I entirely eschew the popular idea that there exists such a concept as Luck.. Either, in either, of it's well accepted forms... of.. Good and Bad..the stange thing, being of course.. that in that context .. Good and Bad Luck are both Relative..and you and I know once the door is open to our Amorphous Friend, known as Relativity.. a most confusing morass of Logic, shall be the resulting affect.
Where as, on one hand... Luck, can be considered... well, Lucky... for one.. but..on the other Hand.. that exact same Luck, can be categorically viewed as being, Bad Luck, for the counterpart.
I know... Blame it on the Bossa Nova!
All of that being said............
One does not need to go any farther than Celtic's Remarkable recovery of Consistency in form..at the Tail end of Last Season.. which, again, remarkably .. co-incided with the enforced omission, from our stuttering Mid Field, of Master Brown... which at the time of his enforced absence, looked for all the world as a minor catastrophe...and yet.. the displacement of the Said Master Brown , allowed for the insertion to our .... up to that time, stuttering Mid Field.. the Dundee Baritone... Barry Robson.
Who I am sure you agree, played an important role in Celtic's Sudden about face, which led to our Triumphant Come Back.
Again..all of that being said...
Take the Cases of the present Injuries, to Pan Boruc...Master McGeady and Master Molly.
Remember what ever follows in this dissertation, is strictly the World, According to Kojo...which right away prepares the Reader for an unusual read..which,after all.. every one desires.. but seldom gets.
Let's consider this...
Mr.Boruc, has not been flying with Both Engines Firing..he has been managing to keep aloft, but to be honest... his fairly recent displays in goal... have been laced with an anxiety accompanied by a leetle dose of..... FUMBLE MANIA.
I hate Fumble Mania.. and I blame at least the Loss of Three Important Goals scored by the Opposition, ineluctably. on Mr. Boruc's Recent Out Break.
The Insertion of Mr. Marko Brown... whom I like... will eliminate that problem which Pan Boruc has been showing all of it's symptoms.. recently..
It is fervently hoped that when Pan Boruc returns, he will have recovered from this most distressing of Goal Keeping Maladies.
On the The Other injury Victims...
My thoughts on Master McGeady have been expressed recently on these very pages.. so it would be redundant to repeat my criticisms of this young Man.
I believe that his disappearance from the Team sheet, will allow another player or players whom at this time...are not under consideration for first team duty, a chance to show their worth.
And the exact same deal applies to Master Molly.. who if he does have a serious injury, although I doubt it..it would turn out to be a good thing.. as his enforced absence would allow .. younger Players.. Like Koki for example or even Padraic...a shot at showing their considerable wares.
So....
As I have said...
There Ain't such a Thing as a Turn for the Woist...
As in retropect...it was really a Turn for the Bettah.
Kojo.
Bromley,
Levein is a great shout. I think he would be right up PL and DD street. Able to work within a budget like GS. He can certainly find half decent players. With more money and resources availble to him at Celtic, i'm sure he would excel.
WGS - once again spot on.

Greenlion 2- it was good to meet you at last on Saturday, my fellow Luguvaliphilic.
The book on Bosnia is 'Unfinest Hour', by Brendan Simms.
I'm also enjoying 'Somme' by Lyn Macdonald.
I don't know if either are books to pack in the case for your next holiday but are worth investigating.
WGS: No complaints from me on Craig Levein and again willing to listen to the "NOT CELTIC MINDED" comments if that appointment ever took place. Strange that it may seem it's gone quiet on that score, maybe wee Gordon has won them over at last, although I won't hold my breath! I would like him to stay and build a dynasty not unlike Swalex.
billyimatim,
Levein "not being Celtic minded". You might be get a suprise.
I think that remembrance day is for all fallen soldiers no matter which war and no matter which side they fought on, so if you are angry at one side then you should grieve and honour the other sides fallen.
It's the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
It's the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
It's the Soldier not the politician who ensures our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,
It's the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.
Please pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom none of them chose to start a war.
I aslo pray that my views don't start a feud on here, if you disagree with my view then put it down to rambling and carry on with our support of Celtic, I know I will
Just saw Thomson's injury for the first time - looks like a very nasty one. Ironic that it was Fernandez he was trying to tackle given the number of injuries he has had.
was it just me, in my own wee world who witnessed Arsenal and Manure have a minutes applause prior to their game as well?
and in that same wee world of mine, did Chelski, favourite friends of Scotland's Shame, choose not to wear poppies on their strip yesterday
Now, why are we alone in getting slated for the applause????
I also presume Follow Follow is in meltdown urgently requesting that Roman Abramovich takes his club and his money and "goes home" since he is clearly not integrating into our British society, an unquestionable snub to all the brave men and women who died serving our country.
No? surely if Celtic had refused we would not be hearing the end of it? Chelski, doesn't suit the agenda - quintessentially british, I believe they are?

If the motivation behind the poppy sellers was as simple as you suggest I doubt there would be any real problem.
A direct quote from Michael Stewart of Hearts suggests that the sentiments for wearing the poppy are of a more contemporary nature and rooted much closer to home and 'our lads'. (The following quote is from the BBC website):
Mr Stewart, who also serves as a Poppyscotland ambassador, said: "For a lot of Scots, footballers are their heroes but for me the real heroes are those who risk their lives in places like Iraq and Afghanistan."
Long gone are the days when an excuse could be made for young unemployed men being 'forced' through lack of choice and job opportunities to join the army. Most of those who those "who risk their lives in places like Iraq and Afghanistan" have enlisted when other choices were available to them. That they choose to help invade and sustain an occupation of someone else's country places them in a completely different category from conscripts in the second world war.

This young villager in Napoleonic times is out walking when he comes across a fine stallion. He ropes it and eventually subdues it enough to ride it back into the village.
The villagers all cry out "Well done young man, what a stroke of luck"
His grandfather rocking in his chair mutters through his pipe "we'll see, we'll see"
A week later whilst out riding the horse throws the lad who breaks a leg. He is carried back into the village to cries of "What a pity" Poor lad. What bad luck"
His grandfather rocking in his chair mutters through his pipe "we'll see, we'll see"
Two days later the army march through the village press ganging all the able bodied men into service. The young man is left behind.

Are you sure? There was a minutes applause for something.
Lurgan- I'm not sure of anything these days, but I think there was a minute's silence followed by applause for the impeccably observed minute's silence.
The picture on the BBC website is of the players observing the silence.
Faithfulthru&thru :- If you want to know what is being said on FF then just go on the site and see. Or why not go on a less hate filled Rangers site and get a truer picture of what Rangers fans think. As an example I recently read a thread on the reporting of Mr Boruc to the police and there were posters who thought it a disgrace calling those who did so MOPES.
I tend to take my view of Celtic fans from on here but I'm sure there are other Celtic sites that would give a very different impression. I honestly feel that if you were to try some other sites you would find they are still very anti Celtic in views but not as hate filled.
Who was the ex-Celt who ended up at Forest? JMcInally?
Anyways he must have crossed BC at some stage because the players were out training one morning by the river Trent when a log or some similar jetsam washed past in the current
BC gathered the players at the bank to observe this, and then said' Right you lot, we'll have a minute's silence for McInally's career'
Dontbrattbackinanger
Thanks for clearing that up.
I see Kilmarnock are sponsored by one of Chic Murray's best one liners ("it's a small world but I wouldn't want to paint it"). Perhaps, with the credit crunch and companies going bust or in serious trouble..XL AIG etc, we should look at teams being sponsored by famous catch phrases or one liners or punchlines. Bristol City could have "we are the diddymen" emblazoned across their erm, chests for example. Rangers could have drat and double drat courtesy of Dick Dastardly (because they never come first). Aberdeen could have "you s**g one sheep..."
"The picture on the BBC website is of the players observing the silence."
The papers down here are going ape about the absolute refusal of Man U and Arsenal players to join in with the minute's applause. Photographic evidence of their slur on the dead can be seen on the BBC website
AuldHeid: "Traynor is as mad as the rest of the Scottish media that the turkey did not jump into the oven made for it."
Brilliant. That sums up the entire Traynor phone in on Saturday that I had to switch off as it was affecting my blood pressure. If people booed during the minute's silence we would have made front page headlines and it is disingenuous at best to say otherwise. Celtic made the right call and robbed lazy journalists everywhere of their pre-written rant!
I was 5 minutes late for the game and I saw absolutely nobody leaving the stadium or hanging around outside. I would have noticed several hundred!
On another note: Can't believe we're sizing up WGS' replacement. He is the only man for the job right now. A new entrant would require money. WGS has proved that he doesn't need it. Paul67 has shown that we don't have much anyway. We have just recorded our 8th successive league win (the most under the under the wee man) and that is with most of our creative players sitting out injured. Things are improving and change would be a backward step I fear, now or at the end of the season.
Has anyone heard the Bellamy rumour? Randalstown Hoops reporting that we are monitoring the West Ham financial situation in the hope of landing the Welsh whizz kid on a knock down fee. That would be awesome but would he really be prepared to play LB?

Cad- plucky point-strapped Carlisle United could be' Nice to C.U., to see you..'

An Ordinary Celtic Man Needs Your Prayers
Written by Kit
Monday, 10 November 2008
Last midweek the world saw and heard the might that is the Celtic Support in full voice. They sampled the strength of our club.
‘Let the People Sing’ resonated from Parkhead’s slopes in decibels that had every hun Health and Safety Inspector lodging a meeting to question the legality of such 'unseen hand' public breaches of 'Timmy' noise pollution.
“Let the people sing their stories and their songs
And the music of their native land
Their lullabies and battlecries and songs of hope and joy
So join us hand in hand
All across this ancient land
Throughout the test of time
It was music that kept their spirits free
Those songs of yours and of mine”
Visionary words, that in lustful Fenian song, escaped the stadiums walls, permeated the cloud cover, tore through the ionosphere, body swerved the stars, and assaulted the very heavens with an insistence that awoke the angels themselves.
Pity the ‘Red Top Mongrels’ had sauced their day, they missed it yet again. Still the devil welcomes the wasters.
In every corner of the globe, in cities you only read of in quality newspapers, cities like Vientiane on the Mekong River, Belo Horizonte (“Beagá") in football loving Brazil, Boston, New York, Melbourne, Bejing, Juneau, every city, every town, they all have one thing in common, a pocket of those damned rebels, who at every opportunity, without any provocation, insist on singing their damned songs of celebration.
Unfortunately, not every Tim that numbers amongst the global Celtic Diaspora heard last weeks songs. Not every Tim had the voice to shake our very heaven.
Some are ill and could not get to the game; some are seriously ill and require intensive care, and no matter how loud the song, they did not hear it sung. One person I know is hurt, confused, and very ill in hospital. He is an ordinary Glasgow man; he is an ordinary Celtic man. He needs your prayers.
Even if you don’t believe in the big man up above, you might offer a few words to those others we adore, Jock, Ronnie, Jinky, Bobby, Johnny Tommy, all the great Celts together, that they might ask the big man to look after one of us little ones. One of the vast Celtic family.
Does not matter what religion you are, a prayer is a prayer for all that, and it’ll only take a moment from your day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope lessons have been learned from The Poppy Protest. If the objective was to gain support for not observing poppy day it would appear in a democratic society that the majority were not persuaded by the argument and voted for the status quo by both applauding and remaining in the park.
Such an outcome was fairly predictable given the nature of debate before the event and it is a pity it proceeded anyway.
One might argue that many more would have gone out had it not placed their allegiance to Celtic under question, but that begs the question, why come up with a protest activity that would be so heavily influenced by that very factor?
For those who believe passionately in their cause find more effective and conciliatory means of advancing your case for next time if there is one that recognises what works and what does'nt.
After Saturday, Celtic could have "didn't they do well".
Kojo
Volatire was it? I never knew that. I tend to pick up these bon mots on my journey. Might even have a wee look at Zadic as I near the end of the journey and wonder "WTF is this all about?"
before the game on saturday as I walked up to Celtic park one thing I found a bit confusing was the lack of poppy sellers, I've asked a few friends did they see any and not one replied in the affirmative.
Did anyone see any poppy sellers ??

I saw a couple on the Gallowgate across from KFC on the way to the ground but that was it.
Ed, not really concerned about what Rankers supporters think, just pointing out the standards by which we are measured and those by which others are measured and it was really rhetorical, as I know full well it's all quiet on that front.
I just look for fairness and justice in all things and have always respected you as a Rankers fan on this site, enjoying many of your posts to boot. I really have no desire to go onto FF as on the occasions I have clicked a link onto that site I am appalled at its contents and bile (no offence)and I vowed to never go onto any Rankers site ever again.

who was it on here that says Barry Ferguson was finished?
Still waiting for Jim Jeffries statement on why we didnt see his players put in the hefty challenges that we all know we'll see on Wednesday.
Beijing Celt - are you about?
Gordon_J,
dont you find that suspicious ?
Honestly lhads I'm really interested to know if anyone seen a poppy seller at Celtic park ?
little bits of evidence like this are important for further discussions with the dark side.
Not sure what you mean by suspicious? Maybe all the sellers read CQN and decided to stay clear!

Celtic_First, never thought of unsettling Mark McGhee!
Seville67, yes, the result on Saturday combined with the injury list highlights the point.
WGS, N, I doubt Mark would see himself as next in line for the Celtic job. Not that I can think of any good suggestions; good job we don’t need to worry about that one.
Kojo, agree wholeheartedly on luck, an overestimated phenomenon.

I also heard murrays lapdog trayners phone in .
YOU could practically hear the disappointment in his voice that the protest went like damp squib .still in order to still receive his succulent lamb and free case of plonk he defiantly gives the whole of his column to a non story ,(see lipsicle leckie also) .
It took both these puppets 48 hours to dedicate their whole columns to this ,has anyone seen the same response by these two regarding the RACIST song .

By suspicious I mean, after all the hullabaloo and the earl haig foundation requesting the minutes silence to be made before the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Such an opportunity to raise much needed funds should not have been ignored. There are plenty of people who would have probably bought a poppy just to get up the noses of the protesters.
Such a big issue made of this and they dont even bother trying to make a collection from the most generous supporters in the world.

Hi Everyone
Winter is approaching so there won't be quite as much golf as usual and the weather will undoubtedly lead to some football postponements. So I though that some of you might be interested in a little competition to find out who is the CQN Share Champion. The rules (which of course can be tweaked before the competition starts as suggestions are proposed) would be along the following lines:
No more than ten contestants (if I am the only participant I shall declare myself as CHAMPION).
Each contestant has 100k to invest. It is not necessary to invest it all at once.
The 100k can be spread over a maximum of ten companies and a minimum of one.
Only shares can be bought, not commodities, split ends, shorts/longs, etc.
The start date will be Dec 1st and will last until the end of May 2009.
Each of the investors will have their own share portfolio that I will set up, record transactions and send out a monthly league table. I will be using . (once logged in you can visit the discussion group on Celtic FC. An avenue that has been on the go since Fergus opened the Club up to ordinary supporters)
The cost price/selling price will be within an hour preceding the post on CQN unless it has been entered before on iii. Dividends, rights, scrip issues, etc will be taken into account if it does not lead to complications.
The winner will be the investor with the highest value portfolio.
Anyone interested?
canamalar,
I understand - yes I would agree. They should have been targeting what was the largest crowd of the day. Wonder if they had sellers at other spl games?

celticlover, don't know about the shares competition. Having Merrill Lynch shares and Deutsche Bank shares, I'd come 11th out of 10. I think it depends on the amount of time it would take up. What is your feel for that?

Count me in, although I own nothing apart from Celtic shares.
In recent weeks, I thought about joining a game like this.
It's a game, right? I mean, you're not looking for actual money, otherwise I'll be out unless the currency is Lire.

Durham is a numpty who said on Saturday that he hates Boruc when talking to Corrigan of the Mothers and when the THG made a mistake earlier on in the season he said "Aw Boric Bless him" and then repeated "Bless him" numerous times to hun callers to the station. He also said as a kid his favourite player was John Greig. He takes every opportunity to slag Celtic but luckily Wrighty usually defends Celtic or Brazil or Houghton or numerous other Celtic supporters on talkSPORT. He is a Hun and Peterborough supporter.
C-1st Turkish lira? how about zimbabwean dollars and you start with 100 trillion (or 5 quid..4quid....3quid...)

I agree with Celtic_Lover's timeframe. It's just for fun, right?
If the inaugural game works out, there can always be a follow-up taking us into the return to prosperity that you have predicted for those dates.
Didn't Terry Pratchett announce quite recently that he has Alzheimer's?
Cadizzy
Durham likes to be controversial, I believed he has worked up in Scotland covering the SPL for an Edinburgh radio station. Usually every caller that phones in to the drivetime show starts with "Wrighty you are a Legend" "Durham you're a Leg End" or "Wrighty how can you control yourself not to hit Durham".
As Brazil sez "He's a Ginger Choob"
also if we go with celticlover's timetable we can really test ourselves in a bear market. The true "big guy" test for any proper investor.

You're right Terry Pratchett has said he is at the early stage of Alzheimer

I am disappointed to learn that you will not be participating. A man with your insight and views would have made it a very interesting experience to say the least. I went for six months, not because I believe that the 'recession' will be over by then, but because the markets will still trade over the period and it might well be that the 'Champion' is the one who keeps the 100k under their bed!
There is still time to be tempted back in and, as I say to celticlover'slover "I just love it when a NO changes to a YES."
TNT, thanks for the info. Looks like he's trying to make being a choob his unique selling point which makes me doubt his sanity. Being an apologist for hunnery hardly makes you the only choob
On the deliberate ignoring of TFS by officialdom and for anyone interested in the underlying tactics, I finally got a reply from the Scottish Government. It highlights the absolute importance of complaining to the police.
For anyone still interested in trying to stop TFS I finally got a reply from the Scottish Government. They said.

Dear
Thank you for your emails of 4 September and 26 September to the First Minister in which you express your concerns about inappropriate chanting at football matches in Scotland. As this Division of the Scottish Government has general responsibility for policy issues pertaining to sport and physical recreation in Scotland, your email has been passed to me reply. I regret the delay in replying.
Thank you for you comments. I should advise you that singing and chanting at football matches by supporters is a matter for the clubs, police, and the football authorities to address and I suggest you raise your concerns directly with them.
The Scottish Government has made it clear that racism, religious intolerance and all other forms of discrimination have no place in modern Scotland. Scottish Ministers will continue with a comprehensive programme of work to tackle all forms of racism and are committed to promoting race equality across the work of Government.
In recent years concerted efforts have been made to tackle sectarianism by football authorities, clubs, supporters’ groups, campaigning groups and the Police. These efforts have certainly made an impact on the fight against sectarianism and should be applauded. However, we cannot be complacent, the fact remains sectarianism is still deeply engrained in many areas of Scottish society and it is time to eradicate it from Scottish football. It is for this reason that the Scottish Government will work in partnership with the Scottish FA and external partners to continue efforts in tackling bigoted behaviour and creating the truly multicultural and multi-faith Scotland that people aspire to and deserve.
To build on this work and ensure the emphasis continues to tackle these issues, the Government announced on 9 October the establishment of a new Government and football partnership, ‘Promoting Citizenship through Football’. The initial focus of the partnership will be to tackle football-related sectarianism, racism and other forms of inappropriate behaviour, which will include the continued unacceptable chanting at football matches. The new partnership confirms our commitment to eradicate this particularly offensive form of conduct at football matches in Scotland.
Furthermore, the Government is fully committed to building on the good work of the One Scotland Campaign in promoting the diversity of Scotland and in tackling racism within our society. The ‘One Scotland – many cultures’ campaign has continued to raise awareness of the negative effects of racism on individuals and society. It also promotes Scotland's multi-cultural society and the benefits it brings.
Yours sincerely

Many thanks for your reply.
In anticipation I had contacted Strathclyde Police about the latest incidence of the singing of The Famine Song at Rugby Park, the 4th incidence at Rangers away games since a warning was issued by Rangers FC where the police have not acted.
I await their reply explaining why no arrests have taken place with interest.
The buck has to stop somewhere.
Copy of Letter To Strathclyde Police
9 Nov 2008
Date: 9 November 2008
The Famine Song.
Dear Sir.
It has been well documented that The Famine Song, sung by an audible number of so called Rangers supporters is racist by nature and those singing it risk being arrested by the police.
Rangers F.C issued leaflets to this effect at their home game V Motherwell on 21st September 2008.
This warning appears to have failed in achieving its desired effect in that the song has been clearly heard at Easter Road on 28th September, at Love St on 5th October, at Hamilton on 25th October and most recently on 9th November at Rugby Park during the second half when it was heard loud and clear.
Following guidance from The Police Complaints Commissioner for Scotland I am writing to ask:
1. Were any arrests specifically for singing The Famine Song made by Strathclyde Police at Rugby Park on 9th November?
2. If yes how many?
3. Are the numbers arrested being made public to act as a deterrent to others?
4. Were any arrests made at the other games at Love St and Hamilton that fall under Strathclyde Police’s jurisdiction?
5. If no arrests took place at Rugby Park after so many unheeded warnings, why not?
6. Were sufficient police deployed at Rugby Park to act in the event of TFS being sung?
7. If not, why not?
8. If no arrests took place how long will the offence have to be repeated before police (or football authorities) take effective action?
I look forward to reading your answers to the above questions.
Yours faithfully
Adam @ 3.33 -
"It's the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"
What absolute tosh.
The good things in Western civilisation, such as freedom of speech and expression, did not come out of the guns of government armies.
Western liberal democracies are not the products of militarism or state-worship or flag-waving jingoism. They are the legacy of generations of people who sought to peacefully coexist with their neighbours through trade and property rights and voluntary association, not a gift from the government and its trained killers.
Just caught a bit of this clown Cameron on unReal Radio tonight. The man is a disgrace and dangerous , as expected he has turned tonights show into an another anti Celtic debate re the minutes applause on Saturday.
I know i shouldnt be listening to him but his hatred of all things Celtic really has to be heard to fully underatand how much he hates us.

Celticlover, but what if it is "NO you can't have that expensive handbag" changing to "YES, ok go on then, buy it?"

If I ruled the world phone ins that depend on the informed being arsed to phone in to educate the ill informed would be prohibited in the public interest.
They reflect the worst aspects of wrong mindedness. Indeed they depend on it for their existence, which is why they promote it with such vigour.
Real Radio is 1984 speak.
The problem is they can act so irresponsibly with no fear of the consequences.
Andy Walker,
you are only on the radio because you played for Celtic.
Every chance you get you put the boot in - the latest statement - a Celtic player would never have been shown a red card for the offence the Motherwell player committed on Saturday.
Celtic should stop this idiot from representing the club at Masters events. He is a disgrace and should not be allowed to represent our club - a club he attempts to undermine at every opportunity.
Walker you are a disgrace.
John Reid - show him the door.
Seville67
Auldheid,
You wrote
'8. If no arrests took place how long will the offence have to be repeated before police (or football authorities) take effective action?'
I can answer this one for you.
As long as it takes for Celtic's fans to incriminate themselves with by IRA chanting.
Good work by the way. Hope you get a satisfactory reply. I wouldn't bet on it though.

I know I'm off topic here, but just on your comment about the Masters tournament. I'm sure I read the other day that for the one that is broadcast on SkySports, the players are selected by the SPFA, the PFA in England. I find this a bit odd.
My dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,friend.. Seville67
I have went thru this explanation quite a few times in the past..
Lest my explanation has been missed..
Here is it for your perusal and discrimination it's of contents.
If I were in Any Walker's position.. I would act in the same manner.
And, believe me, I do not say this, lightly.
In the Journalism Profession, one will.. or should.. learn very early.. that what goes on in the mind of the copy Editor.. must be religiously noted, by the reporter..and said reporter should act accordingly, if he wishes to retain his position.
Or... Else.

If that is the case Celtic should object and stop that fool from wearing the hoops.
After his comment on the Red card - he followed up with " There was nothing wrong with the way that Kilmarnock approached the game with Celtic"
Really Andy - maybe you should phone Naka and ask him.
I would love Gordon Strachan at the next press conference to take him up on that statement and hear him squirming.

That they choose to help invade and sustain an occupation of someone else's country places them in a completely different category from conscripts in the second world war.
ARE YOU FOR REAL a lot of the young guys join up because of the very fact that they have little options, they don't get to choose where, when or who and the facts are that most of these young guys from schemes like Pollock were the young Celtic supporter soldier who got killed by a roadside bomb came from , enlist to give themeselves a chance in life.

I am a friend of an ex Celtic winger who features on the radio and he told me that if you wind up Celtic fans they will phone in and if you wind up Rangers fans they switch-off.

Seville67....too true. I just don't listen.
Listening to Cameron now
Complete imbecile. I mean Roughie, not the sharpest tool in the shed, is running rings around him.
Cameron saying Reid should condemn the protestors and that there should have been a minutes silence and those breaking it should be arrested.
Aye like SDM has condemned TFS and police arresting the TFS singers.
He is now quoting Traynor and Leckie in support of his argument!! Thats like me asking Hitler for a reference.
Coorslad,
Im not sure I understand what you mean.
Regardless of whether or not I think its ok to mention the IRA in songs at Celtic matches (I don't think its ok btw) my honest opinion is that I think the authorities ARE waiting until they have gathered up what they perceive as offensive material so as to put the boot into BOTH of us at the same time. I dont think they will take on RFC without taking on us.
Sad state of affairs I admit but If you are suggesting Im putting the boot in, then I think thats a bit harsh.
Paul,
Re your comments on 'not' tapping up Mark McGhee. I am sure that I am not alone in thinking that Lenny was brought back for grooming for eventual succession to the role of Celtic manager. Would you agree? or is Capello just killing time with the land from the south until GS gets fed up winning trophies for us.

Have to agree on Cameron. Its nothing new the media having a pop at us but this anti Celtic bigot takes it to a new level. How he stays on the air is all a bit mystifying to me.
He is livid with the minutes applause, ''cowardly act'' by Celtic and SPL will give you an idea of the way he feels about us.
He should be kicked off the air.
We get the football commentators we deserve as much as we get the soldiers we deserve (well said Philvis).
If we phone up praising BBJ for the wonderful job he is doing instead of phoning up to complain about the faeces stirrers, we might get a more informed set of commentators.
I know it's hard but, I think we should ignore the Keevins wannabees and speak up for those who are prepared to speak with some empathy for the guys who play the same game they played.
Having said that, when commentators cross the line from controversial to offensive, as Charlie Nick did with his Uncle Tim act with Jim White, they deserve the sack.
Paul,
Do you happen to know if Celtic have any strategy in dealing with Real Radio regarding the anti-Celtic tirade currently being carried out by Ewan Cameron?
This guy is an utter disgrace.
I tolerated him when he was just being an amiable buffoon, a figure of fun if you will, but he has moved on to a far more sinister level.
Alan Rough has already let slip that Cameron had a few wee cups of tea with David Murray last season and it now seems that he is now following an agenda.
Do you happen to know if Celtic follow up on some of this oafs outbursts or do they have a policy of ignoring this anti-Celtic bias?
Won't go into the reason why I may see Ewan Cameron at close quarters tomorrow. Any liberal-minded, clean message for me to pass on? :-)
If Killie lay down to TFOD yesterday then that is unacceptable.
However, I don't have a problem with the fact that they got stuck in against Celtic a few weeks ago. I saw a few tasty challenges but can't recall anything of the 'break a leg' variety.
I recall after the Old Trafford game saying that Celtic stood back off Ronaldo and Co and gave them far too much respect. I also said that if we were to lose we should at least lose after making sure they knew they had been in a game. I know if I had been playing in that game I would have willingly taken a booking for taking Ronaldo out of the game and wiping that smug look off his face. Would I be wrong in saying the majority of Celtic supporters would have agreed?
The reality is, if you are playing against technically superior teams it is simply not possible to fight fire with fire. In such cases, you have to 'get in amongst them'. We did it in the return game against Manure and Killie (for whom I have no time for) did it against Celtic. It is what Scott Brown is so good at. THe Manure and Killie games were simply two cases of technically poorer teams playing to their strengths and trying to esnure they don't get a doin'
If my reading of this is correct, then why is it OK for Celtic to go and kick people but not other teams (why is it also OK for us to play 5-5-0 but then we moan when other teams do it against us?)
Reality is, Killie are rubbish and they know it. Would we OK if they stood back and clapped as Celtic players passed them off the park?
BBC news at 6:30 said that early diagnosis suggests Thomson is likely to be out for the season. A scan on Wednesday will confirm whether or not this is so.

Countries like Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and countless others are surviving and flourishing very well thank you without any armed forces to speak of.
The armed forces of the major powers are being used more and more to advance the political ambitions of wealthy men and less and less to defend freedom.
It is economic stability and solid trade performance that gives the Western powers their strength.

The fact that no Celtic fan has been arrested for "IRA" chanting is that whilst it may offend some, and I can understand why, it is not actually illegal.
TFS is illegal and this makes all the difference in the world. It is also why pressure must be kept up on the police force because I can see no defense for not acting. I just want them to tell me their justification.
All the hoo ha on The Poppy issue is an attempt to deflect from the lack of action.

I was tuning in the shine on the light night dial
Doing anything my radio advised
With every one of those late night stations
Playing songs bringing tears to my eyes
I was seriously thinking about hiding the receiver
When the switch broke 'cause it's old
They're saying things that I can hardly believe
They really think we're getting out of control
(CHORUS) Radio is a sound salvation
Radio is cleaning up the nation
They say you better listen to the voice of reason
But they don't give you any choice 'cause they think that it's treason
So you had better do as you are told
You better listen to the radio
I wanna bite the hand that feeds me
I wanna bite that hand so badly
I want to make them wish they'd never seen me
Some of my friends sit around every evening
And they worry about the times ahead
But everybody else is overwhelmed by indifference
And the promise of an early bed
You either shut up or get cut up, they don't wanna hear about it
It's only inches on the reel-to-reel
And the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools
Tryin' to anaesthetise the way that you feel
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Wonderful radio
Marvelous radio
Wonderful radio
Radio, radio

Soldiers are not a unique phenomenon to western liberal democracies. The other sides have them too. The poor soldier in any modern army, unlike previous citizen militia, is stripped of all individuality and taught to obey orders instantly without question. Very few mutiny or rebel.
The soldier's value depends on the moral purpose to which his service is put and that value is usually determined by a politician or a soldier/politician giving them orders and direction. Ask the Wermacht! Many of them were brave and fully deserving of their Iron Crosses but they did a disservice to the evolution of society.
There have been as many armies tearing up printing presses and shooting journalists as there have been defending them. Being a soldier per se, need not be honourable or brave. Some have been cowardly or cruel. We should judge them by their actions not their profession.
Please note that this is not a dig at Remembrance events or any particular war. It is a response to Adam's overblown praise of the morals of soldiering. I was in the fortunate position of never having been tested in a war. I do not know what kind of soldier I would have been.
gscbhoy
Celtic were physical against United but they were also fair. There weren't any dirty tackles with the exception of a rash challenge from Robson. Instead, Celtic worked hard and made sure they pressed all over the park to limit the amount of freedom which the United players had. Killie were completely different, they knew they had no chances winning half the tackles and they were clearly going for the man (usually Naka) on several occassions. I have no sympathy for the way Killie played against us.

I could talk all night
My mind goes sleepwalking
While I'm putting the world to right
Call careers information
Have you got yourself an occupation?

Oliver's army are on their way
And I would rather be anywhere else
But here today
There was a checkpoint charlie
He didn't crack a smile
But it's no laughing party
When you've been on the murder mile
Only takes one itchy trigger
One more widow, one less white nigger
CHORUS
Hong Kong is up for grabs
London is full of arabas
We could be in palestine
Overrun by the chinese line
With the boys from the mersey and the thames and the tyne
But there's no danger
It's a professional career
Though it could be arranged
With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck you're out of work
We could send you to johannesburg
CHORUS
And I would rather be anywhere else
But here today
And I would rather be anywhere else
But here today

A certain chairman of a certain club under real pressure with the bigots at his club ,realises he has lost the battle to stop their bigoted chants ,decides the only option left to him is to drag his rivals into the gutter with him .now his rivals have a sizable fan base from Ireland where british soldiers are seen by many as criminals .the home match before remembrance day parade british soldiers and get as much publicity about this as possible and sit back and laugh IMO,have a look through todays papers everyone who had to be forced to acknowledge the racist song ,decry celtic fc for 60 fans(who were booed out of the ground) walking out of a home game ,but ignore 50, 000 racists singing for months .
also ask him when he is going to do a programme about the 50,000 racist singers .IMO

MichaelCollins :- I take yor point but would also like to point out that the only reason Finland kept it's independance was through soldiers fighting for it. Switzerland has a form of conscription and almost everyone has a rifle, Denmark as you say had little armed forces to speak of and Nazi Germany walked in. Sweden I can't speak about as I don't know. My point was that if you want to remain an independant country and a democracy then you need an army to make sure that the folk next door who aren't a liberal democracy don't come in and take over. So in many ways we do need soldiers to protect our freedom.

Kojo :- Do I like Kipling? I don't know I've never kippled. Sorry couldn't resist that one :-)
That is one of my all time favourite poems and to me it shows the hypocricy of U.K governments towards their soldiers both back then and as the news shows time after time with poor equipment the attitude continues.

I should point out that Nazi Germany also walked into almost every country in Europe many of whom were substantial military powers so having a large army doesnt guarnatee anything.
the argument your using is basically that you need a military deterent to stop your neighbour invading is the same argument that was used during the years of the Cold War for US and Soviet military expansion. Since the demise of the Soviet Union that argument has shown to be flawed.
Peace is manitained between nations through economic cooperation and diplomacy.

Army sizes stats
Swedish Army - Conscription
Military Force - Fully mobilised
Officers 4,500
Regular 18,000
Militia 37,000
Reserve 262,000
Total 321,500
Swiss Armed Forces
All able-bodied male Swiss citizens are conscripted to the armed forces until the age of 30. In 2002 the active armed forces consisted of 3,500 officers, with the ability to mobilize 320,400 trained troops within 48 hours. For women the service is voluntary.
Finland Armed Forces- Conscription
Active personnel 34,700
Reserve personnel 357,000
Denmark Armed forces - Conscription
Active personnel 25,000
Reserve personnel 12,000 + 51,000 volunteers in the Home Guard
UK Armed Forces - no conscription
Active personnel 195,900 (April 2006) (ranked 26th in the world)
Reserve personnel 191,300 regular reserve (April 2005)
42,300 volunteer reserve (April 2005)
Now that I am past the age of being conscripted, I am all for mandatory conscription of 18 to 30 year olds to do some sort of national service like the majority of European Countries. National Service being defined liked Sweden or Italy as Armed Forces, Police Service, Fire Service, Health Service. A little discipline in the life of the teenager, a bit of a short, sharp, shock will make them ideal citizens for the New Model Army that I have envision after the revolution.

If everyone agreed then there would be no need for an army. Miltary deterent simply doesnt work as it leads to a continual build up of forces and subsequently tension.
I'm not saying that there is never a situation where military force is necessary but I think the notion that we all owe our freedom and democracy to Soldiers is a flawed argument that does a grave injustice to the great political campaigners who have shaped the countries history.

"Long gone are the days when an excuse could be made for young unemployed men being 'forced' through lack of choice and job opportunities to join the army. Most of those who those "who risk their lives in places like Iraq and Afghanistan" have enlisted when other choices were available to them. That they choose to help invade and sustain an occupation of someone else's country places them in a completely different category from conscripts in the second world war."
I'm sure all those young people from deprived communities who leave school with few, if any, qualifications would be surprised to hear that there is now no "lack of choice and job oportunities" to prevent them having to risk life and limb by joining the army to earn a crust. Think they'd be even more surprised to hear this en whilst the unemlpoyment total climbs ever upwards.
You think they should maybe 'just get on their bikes' to seek out these opportunities?
Q. Who is likely to be listening to Ewan Cameron whose opinion of Celtic will be changed by what they hear from him?
Celtic Supporters? Hardly.
The rest of his audience probably hate us anyway.
He is a fool, definitely not worth elevating to hate figure status among Celtic fans.

Intent to offend needs to be proved. The milkman delivering milk in the morning can offend me if he wakens me up. No intent on his part the offense belongs to me!
I would not take him to court because the judge would order me to buy ear plugs.
Singing songs with the words IRA in them can be defended on a tradition basis. The songs in question do not sing of hate or offer violence to another religion, the basis for TBBS being banned, that is why TFS is such an own goal for them and why they are so desperate not to get "done" on that as well.
Whwn Boruc blesssed himself at Ibrox many behind him were offended but because making the sign of the cross is a accepted tradition they had to do him on other gestures they say he made (and might have done).
Taking offense is like taking a drink. Another can offer it or you can pick it up for yourself, but the choice to drink it is always down to the one taking the drink.
ALWAYS.
SFTB,
The boos I'm referring to were during the minutes applause. There were enough to be heard over the applause, think of how audible they would have been during a silence.
As for the boos during the walk out 10 minutes later, much louder and more prolonged. Most people around me were booing. I was just saddened by the fact I knew we were reversing down a PR cul-de-sac and would be letting THEM off the hook with their racism and sectarianism.
In truth, Celtic were left with no option but to go with the applause, against convention for such a situation. The lesser of two evils, so to speak. Celtic are well aware of supporter sentiment and would have been all too familiar - as we all were - of the various objections and protests planned.
CELTIC have come second best as a result and THEY have scored the equaliser thay have been waiting all season for.

Thanks for the reply. Most people around me were not booing, though some have a record for it when the team is playing. I heard some brief booing nearby to my section, but I am surprised that you state "most people around you were booing". Do you mind stating whereabouts in the stadium that was?
Jinkysboy i think Vmhan and Derryghirl would answer that better

Michael:
Not trying to score points or appear pedantic, but in your post of 7.37 you said:
“Countries like Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and countless others are surviving and flourishing very well thank you without any armed forces to speak of.”
I think you may find that this is not entirely true. Each of the countries you choose to mention each has a very effective and professional armed force. Not only that, but each of the countries you name has ‘conscription’. Conscription to feed it’s armed forces to ensure the readiness of their respective populations to protect their respective countries. They might not be very aggressive counties, but I know that both Sweden and Finland, have only recently, flexed a wee muscle at a much larger and bellicose country.

Anyone making a peacful protest on Saturday broke no laws and done nothing wrong.
That the club are being criticised for this should come as no surprise as that was the intention behind the whole farce.
Let Cameron, Traynor and Leckie spout their hatred for our club and their subservience to Murray. They will whatever we do.
This is an exercise in deflection for Rangers fans singing TFS but however much they move the goalposts here and muddy the waters one thing must remain clear to us.
Rangers fans are breaking the law and it is being ignored. Celtic fans (and the club) who are being roundly criticised by the above mentioned "journalists" have not broken any law.
If you guys insist on listening to this garbage on radio, or worse still phoning up to contribute to their circus on a quiet news day then more fool you.
The thought of these jokers, and third rate 'shock jocks' reading, and laughing at your outraged posts on Celtic websites gives me as much concern as you giving them the oxygen of your interest in their programe.
They are ALL at the wind up, some with an agenda, some without. few remember apologies to lawwell etc, and I am sure Jay, or whoever would prefer the ratings and controversy, to a bland 'ringmaster' for his show.
I know Gordon Strachan has called this guy Cameron on a few ocassions, it has not always been public.....he knows the guys agenda....
It is best just to ignore it in my opinion.......you have the power of the off switch on your radio.
Jinkysboy............................

Miloš Krasić - CSKA Moscow
Salcido and Vermalaen can be seen in action this weekend when PSV and Ajax come together on Sunday morning.
There are many Celtic fans who are paranoid.
I did not think that there was anything wrong with the way Killie approached our recent league cup tie.
I thought that the ref was poor,in not booking there players for consistant fouling.
Somebody posted on here that The ref sent of Clarkson ,so that he would miss the match tomorrow against Rangers.
Think it through .We get to play against 10 men ,and they have to play against 11.It's ludicrous.
I despair at the paranoia, and biased views of some.
The darkside may may have more of them ,but we have quite a few blinkered fans ourselves.

They could not guarantee the safety of Srebrenica even against the small forces of the Serbian and Bosnian Serb army. It takes political will to back up your guarantee. Czechoslovakia and Chamberlain; the Hitler: Stalin pact; & non-proliferation treaties all proved to be unenforceable agreements.

You mentioned two players from Russian clubs. I wonder what happens in January transfer window there in Russia. They were buying the players for excessively increased prices, when naphta was app. 120 USD/b. Now it's half of that price. Maybe that is a chance? Who knows?

Couldn't agree more. And another thing - they're selling us bricks for forty quid, when you can get them much, much cheaper. Is it not slightly concerning that we are selling bricks anyway - is the stadium not finished yet? There's a scoop for ya Ewan.
And another few things. How come they never shuffle the Paradise Windfall winners - it's always 1st prize G, 2nd G, 3rd G. And we welcome the fans of the away club, but never welcome the home fans. And what's with playing Simple Minds just after the final whistle of every single game - are we on commission or something?

By chance i happened to read the name of a brasilian footballer that i recognised in the squad for the mighty Shaanxi Baorong Chanba of the Chinese Super League. Yes, Rafael Scheidt, who incidentally is not exactly close to retirement age at 32, is a squad player for a not particularly fashionable team in a very poor domestic league in China.
And yet he still ranks as one of the highest transfer layouts - after Sutton, Hartson and maybe Berkovic; unless I'm missing anyone else for that list.

I got a brick at CP as a wedding present from Celtic Bob and the Bobbettes. A brick with me and Mrs Jinks name in it (and her family are all RAnkers fans - maybe we should get an Edwardursus brick) Anyway - where was I going there- aye I stopped on the way out the ground on Wednesday after the manure game to check out the brick and got crushed and knocked to the ground by a crowd of idiots with Celtic scarfs who left the match at full time.
Can I sue and should it be Celtic or Celtic Bob or Real radio that pays out. I could use the money to go to Vmhans party.
Also why read out the players first names only at the CL game and expect us to shout out their second names. Is this a job share and the tic have cut the bhoys wages. Terrible PR. And how the heck are we supposed to shout Venegoor of Hesselink when he shouts Jan. How about if the guy does this at the Villarreal game we shout the surnames of the Lisbon Lions ..... just for a laugh like.

Zbyszek, Greg Lake was a great rock vocalist especially with King Crimson and ELP but I was a huge Uriah Heep fan in the early 70's and he never played with them but ELP's Pictures at an Exibition is fantastic music.I think you may be confusing him with John Wetton who played with the mighty Heep,King Crimson and still to this date Asia.

When I lived in Wisconsin a lot of people asked if I was Australian - they dont watch Home and away obviously. I thought it may have been a mel Gibson / Braveheart confusion.
Then on Paddys day my mate and I (both Glaswegians) went to Green BAy. Everyone loved our Irish accents so much we didnt have to biy a drink all night begora. We met a black guy who told us he was Irish ,,,,,,, and his name was Johnny Snelligan. We still laugh at that 6 years later.

he could join up now with JVOH, SAmmi, Killin, Naka, Crosas, Shaun, Aiden, Naylor and Arthur. he wouldnt feel out of place.
he spends so much time injured Im not sure he is worth the risk although he is a fantastic player when fit
There is a good Brazilian centre back on a bosman in december. Downside? - He had to return to Brasil from Russia because he developed illness due to the climate. Dare his risk scotland!
The issue with this Croatian player is interesting. There seem to be a few possible explanations for it.
1 - We did agree to sign him and have pulled out. But why?
a) He moved the goalposts.
b) We have someone else lined up
c) He was not all he was cracked up to be
2 - It is his agent making up a story. If so who cares from out point of view!

I agree that Owen would be too expensive, and too much of a risk. I dont think he offers all that much more than McDonald - certainly not considering the disparity in wages they would recieve.
On that note I do think we need a new, and seriously good, striker. Preferably with sell-on value.

Michael Collins,
"Anyone making a peacful protest on Saturday broke no laws and done nothing wrong."
I never suggested any laws were broken. I was stating very clearly that those who continually put their own agenda above that of CELTIC are playing into the hands of Rearrangers and their sympathisers in the media. In doing so they are doing CELTIC a disservice and doing Rearrangers a favour.
Only an idiot could fail to see this negative press for Celtic being the outcome. The only conclusion I can come to is that those who forced this protest either do not hold CELTIC at the TOP of their agenda or they are idiots.
Or both.

If you asked me about Ehrlich Yakov, then I got it. I wish Rangers can buy him. I wish them all the transfers to be like this one. bloke-109
at least the season will be over..money already in the bank..
re mortgaged in the summer...:))))
Dobbo,
Not heard anything but see this stuff about wages etc... let's see what he's wanting first. As i have said Michael has made his money. He's 28 going on 29 years old with only a handful of medals to show. He's not even playing in Europe never mind the CL. None of the top 4 i don't think will go for him down there.
I am of the opinion if Celtic were to make a play he'd be up for it. Do not discount the ties his family have for our club. His mother and gran are massive Celtic fans. His gran i believe was brought up in the east end.
He needs only to look at guy's like Henrik, Chris Sutton, John Hartson and Alan Thompson to see what an impact he could make up here. I just think it would be a great signing. I agree with you being reluctant about his injuries, but the same thing was said about Hartson. We could get him for nothing and only need to pay his wages.
Just like Keane and Sutton i think he would manage to fit into our wage structure if he wanted to. At the end of the day given the amount he has made over the years and maybe what 30k + at Celtic plus bonuses with the chance to play in front of an adoring crowd, CL football and Old Firm games. Bit of carrot if you ask me.
No harm in asking. A fit Owen would definitley offer more than McDonald.
pmsnumber, Wetton did do a bit of banding if you like but Crimson never really split. Adrian Belue took over vocals and still does I think to this day,I saw Wetton with the awesome Steve Howe,Carl Palmer and Geoff Downes of Buggles fame with Asia earlier this year. He,wetton having recovered from a triple bypass and singing as well as ever.
Prog is my favourite form of Rock fave band at the moment is Porcupine Tree.
Zbyszek have you heard an excellent Polish band called Riverside.

I agree, a fit Owen does offer more than McDonald. However...
1 - Fit and Owen don't often mix well!
2 - Would the improvement be worth the money spent on Owen, or could it be better deployed elsewhere
3 - Given the above would the board risk it!
It is a long shot, but I would certainly not be upset if he joined us!

I concur with jinkysboy.......hope the wee yin has a great day........thats a back holiday weekend as well I think, oh and we'll still be celebrating 4in a row.
Celticlover, sounds like a great idea.
Auldheid, thanks for bringing us that.
Captain Crosas, I very much doubt that Neil Lennon was brought in, in order to work his way up to the top job. The rookie manager is a major risk.
Kossoff, I know Celtic have crossed swords on this one previously, the threat of legal action has also been made. Everyone knows the agenda at play here, but while Celtic fans continue to listen, Celtic fans will continually find their air polluted by it.
Don’t listen.
Mick, Michael Collins, the persons referred to have previously been banned. This was relaxed after contrite apologies, but while they continue to drip negative stories into the ears of Celtic fans, the club has to deal with them.
I witnessed a v uncomfortable handshake post-apology, but I’ve witnesses a whole lot more said off air and behind backs, it’s all true!
Welcome Coorslad, my apologies, I didn’t realise you were new.
Thanks for the nod, Vmhan.

Call me shallow but I think CQN has proven to me anyway the quality and calibre of our support. If you dont believe me ask Ed, Our ethical and moral standards bared for all to inspect and ponder over. Just dont expect a carcass, or a fight. It´s called passion and that´s why we´re the winners anyway you look at it.
We can set the agenda if we just switch off.
Since I have, any snippets that come my way; Like Ewan Cameron tonight, the right not to have another opinion I treat with complete hilarity. If only the horses were this predictable I wouldn´t be typing this in now.
I would just like to say well done to the Bhoys - our players. We keep winning and that´s without
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink btw Venegoor of Hesselink in dutch means hun not allowed to lose to Huns
Georgious Samaras
Shunsuke NakaGod
Artur Boruc
Aiden Mc Geady
Marc Crosas
Glen Loovens
Shaun Maloney
Chris Killen
Mac Gowan
JJPD
Now if I was to describe the above players contributions to the season so far. I would have sore fingers from typing. Yet we keep winning and have seen players come on and look promising as well as winning.
I urge you to compare how ICT and Kilmarnock both recent opposition to us and Rangers have played and see the stark change in approach to these games and yet our boys keep on winning and with spirit ?
Naka champing at the bit not just for Japan but also wanting to stick it down Billy Browns throat - the team spirit is immense
and yet what are we talking about ?
and why are we talking about it ?
Anybody else think that we will be buying in Januray while Rangers are selling ?
Anybody else reckon that it is imperative for Rangers to be above us come the January Transfer window so that the imminent fire sale looks less Huttonesque to the hoardes.
Come on Bhoys stop letting them set their entirely predictable and boring agenda and beam with pride that it looks like we are on the right road with Gordon Strachan. With the above injuries and no left back we nearly beat the EC again.
Signing off for tonight but I haven´t felt this dandy in a long time. Every time I think of Skippy´s chip it cheers me up no end. Well it´s either that or remembering the worlds atrocities

Im daft but observant with it.
regards Hoopy / Cameroon (wasnt he called Boaby Puller for a while on his show) There is a connection - when I turn on his show I always hear "Rough"
BTW all - I made a tongue in cheel suggestion earlier but the wee green devil on my shoulder reckons that at £40 a brick to commemorate the CQN Ger would be a good gesture to our own Ed.
Howsabout it ????
Awe_Naw,
Excellent stuff. It filled me with pride to read on the net about Naka's desire to play on Wednesday. Most managers and their ass men I care not a jot about but Jeffries and Brown I cannot stand.
So much so that I have to work down south on Wednesday and Thursday but rather than stay over I'm leaving at 5am on Wednesday morning so I can return for the match that evening and then another 5am departure on the Thursday. Just so I can stick my fingers up at those two every time we smash one past them.
I sit in the North Stand Upper and I realise it sounds childish and immature but by god it'll make me feel orgasmic!
Jinkysboy..............is that really you and yir brother jammin?

KingofBeards :- As a full set face comber can I join the beardies clique?

WGS,
We can never score enough goals against that eedjit and his team for my liking.
Awe Naw,
Good point about the contributions of those first team players currently injured. If form is an indicator we will shortly lose Scott Brown to injury!
Add to this Gary Caldwell, Stephen McManus, Barry Robson, Lee Naylor, Andreas Hinkel and Scott McDonald who have all missed games through injury already this season.
Aat least we shouldn't have to worry about suspensions this season. Nobody is getting a long enough injury-free run to pick up enough bookings to get suspended.
Read your post Auldheid.
Interesting info. Thank you.
Aw Naw ¡ My way of thinking an a´ !!
Winning three in a row was so special, let´s revel in it.
CSIAL I also read that Koki Mizuno dreams of scoring for celtic from a Nakamura pass. With Mizuno impressing at the weekend could we see both of our exciting Japanese players on the same pitch wednesday
Iki mashyo Mizuno
lets go mizuno

You could maybes be the first mhan to have a brick on both stadiums !!!
Would your fellow bears frown at that?
Anyone here the story about the Porstmouth fan who was working on the building of St Marys and buried his scarf deep under the centre circle? Or just another UM
I want Paul 67 to do what he done last year and announce a signing on the the lead up to Hogmanay. That was superb that Hinkel announcement
Paul if you get another kick in the christmas puddings of Laporta, tell him it was wine. Anyway New Year will be around the corner and a couple of beers between friends and it will be all forgotten :) :) :)
Go on my son!!
Awe Naw and U2
Have we had an ever present this season?
Dobbo
I'll check Russia tomorrow in the original.

I will listen to Riverside for sure. I'll be ready with the "Believe" clips tomorrow. The word believe, seems to be popular on Youtube. Cannot find the proper clips.
think scott brown has been ever present this season could be wrong
Zybsek,
Get scouting on my targets over in that part of the world:)
UNEW MIKE,
I think GS has done the right thing with taking his time with Koki. Apparently he's been impressing in the reserves on a regular basis so maybe now is his time to become a first team squad fixture.
Interesting to see him up front at the weekend when he did come on. Do you think GS sees him more as a second striker rather than a wide player?
Chris Sutton
Good man - I love your passion there. Im below you in the Nrth Lower but will be looking out for you and your Harvey Smith gesture.

CSIAL Mizuno is a dynamic attacking midfielder my brother in lwas was surprised (and pleased) that celtic signed him..i only hope that if amdf whne nakamura's wife wishes to return that we get at least one or two seasons out of 23 year old koki mizuno who is an exceptional japanese talent with more pace than Naka. I mentioned previously that he links up well with Ben Hutchinson as well . CSIAL will you be drinking in your usual prematch hostelry as i am up on the train wednesday arriving into Glasgow at 6:45

Scott Brown is the only one who may have been an ever present.
I would happily see him, Robson, Caldwell, McManus and Hartley all pick up one of those niggling wee knocks next week which conveniently facilitate the withdrawal from the Scotland squad but are equally conveniently cleared up in time for the next SPL match.
It seems to be a regular type of injury at Ibrox. For those who haven't made themselves 'unavailable for selection', of course.
chris Sutton
I only ever ever get indimigestshun when I eat a Cellic Pie. I have to rush out at full time for a cold beer to take the horrific pain away.
So been aff the pies and the beer for 6 weeks now - strange that I have put on 4 lbs though. How did I mange that (maybe the beard)
UNEW MIKE,
I'm working in Leeds on Wednesday but I'll be back for the match, just not sure when. If I get back in time I'll be in The Crown but I'll just need to see how the day pans out.
jinkysboy ,
It doesn´t seem to matter domestically. I find myself reassessing my seasons objectives. I want us to win the SPL, If we win that then an excellent job has been done. I have been screaming for a left back but if WGS has the choice between another experienced striker or a left back then I´m not sure.
I have two new dreams you see. One is a January transfer window that goes my way that means a new striker and a left back and then if that happens then I will allow my mind to UEFA cup final territory.
Imagine winning the SPL and the Uefa cup and without a riot or a league extension. Coming on the back of last year
Now if I was allowed to set Scotlands media agenda that would be headline news tonight.
Hail Hail
p.s if it were to happen we should be making mischief with subtle indications that SPL league extensions have more or less ;-) been agreed already
p.p.s Ed, are your being groomed on the internet ?
or the packers hat :>))))
big shooders, I could take it, I'm the black sheep o the family anyway..........................so is that a plan?
Maybe we should jist procure the brick n post it tae him?

Re poppygate
The buns and their friends invested alot to put this scheme together and will not give it up easily
However we are fortunate that the people who represent the club are as clever if not cleverer than our opponents.
This has been stitched up between several individuals and groups with the sole purpose of having Celtic the first story on the national and international news on TV and front page on every newspaper in the country
The odd "parade" at Ibrox aweek ago was the final piece designed to provoke their desired response
How disappointed they must be that despite so much intrigue and careful planning they find themselves desperately trying to pump life into a non story
The racist song continues to be sung and the law of the land defied
It is only a matter of time before authorities outside our little country are forced to deal with it
At that stage no-one will remember poppygate
Well played our representatives OFF the park
Well played our team ON the park

Buns banned in Europe
Both coming soon !
WGS, Zybzyk
Interesting info. There is some business sence to spend money now, to speculate in the future. Particulally as cash in the bank is not as safe as it was this time last year.
Like the sound of the Croatian and Serbian. Am looking to a new top draw player to replace Naka as and when the time comes.
Big Mick has played every SPL game this season so far. Only game he's missed was the League Cup q-final at Rugby Park.
WGS

You read in my thoughts. I woted to add, Hamsik is worth 14 m Eur now (Milan).

According to the agent of Marek Suchy, player got the invitation for the tests to Spurs. The list of interested in the player (acc. to the agent) is quite long: Chelsea FC, Real Madrid, PSV Eindhoven, AFC Ajax, BV Borussia Dortmund, TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen, FC Schalke 04.

Jinkysbhoy,
After the personal vilification of my son by that most true of all Celtic supporters, dublin bhoy,I will rejoice if he never ever posts again on this platform provided by my son.
How dare he use this medium to so viciously attack Paul, a person he knows nothing about. (8th Nov. 951am.)
His later admitted to being a "mite unjustified" (8th Nov. 11.29am.) Really what was wrong with a full apology and retraction.
His attack is in keeping with the worst that the late Sean South ever landed on Paul.
He is lucky that the site is owned by my son and not me, he is a more tolerant person than I .
Long may he stay away, I don't want him contaminating the site with such personal bile.
Martin.
Dobbo,
Hamsik? I noticed he is slovakian as well from Zybsek's link. Makes you wonder why we haven't tapped Lubo for advice on these guy's like Hamsik and Sutchy. Telling you our scouts need a boot up the backside.

We all make our own judgements in life and I can say hand on heart I make errors every day and some that I apologise and others that I do not
Im not here to justify anyones words or actions - they are all big boys and can do that for themselves.
I have met Paul and have nothing but admiration for him and the greay work he does on here as well as the charity stuff.
I have never met Dublinbhoy but got on well with him on this site and while not always agreeing with him (or anyone else for that matter) I have never had a cross word with him.
As such I dont take sides - if thats a problem then I will p off.
Wear your poppies with shame?? I wish this thing would die, but guess not.
Saw (via celtic-mad) the statement from "Celts against imperialism" that was issued before saturdays game, which complained against "those who would rather see the club wrapped in the Union Jack rather than the Tricolour".
Am i the only celtic fan that thinks 100%,absolutely,utterly,with full conviction (etc) that the club should be "wrapped" in the SCOTTISH flag? Absolutely the tricolour should fly proudly alongside it,there is a great irish heritage after all to our club, but i am always getting fed up with everyone that tries to paint our club as an irish club. If Celtic was an irish club, we'd be playing in the Eircom Premier League.
jb713
It is always a question of focus. We only give meaning to what we focus on and whilst there was a bit of mud raking over what I prefer to call Poppycock (Poppygate resounds of Watergate which whilst amateurish was at least on an important scale)not as much mud is sticking as the mud slingers would have wished.
In the meantime TFS keeps being sung, every time it does it provides an opportunity to focus on it by asking the police why they have not acted. (But we must keep asking)
Celtic must have their reasons for not reacting but so far they have officially been reluctant to point out Ranger's lack of condemnation of TFS or pointed out that the police are not doing their job. Not sure what the strategy/tactics are but it would be no skin of Reid's nose to condemn "those" who forced Celtic into taking the lesser of two evils option - silence or applause.
"Those" has a double meaning, either those who felt their need to protest was greater than the need for Celtic's reputation not to be muddied and those who are raging that we avoided the embarrasment of a minutes silence.
If I can touch on the imbecile Cameron, he was going on tonight that the SPL had no right to give clubs the option on how they would observe Rememberance. In pushing his case he misses an important point.
The SPL had no right to agree to something that would harm one of its leading clubs and next year the SPL's response to the Poppy Appeal should be on the lines of the SPL will arrange a service to be held for all footballers who died for their country as well as all others who fell in war. That service to take place at Hampden with clubs represented by players and staff and a token number of supporters.
I cannot see how any SPL clubs would object to not agreeing to what they agreed to this year and objecting to something on the lines suggested (unless of course their agenda all along was to embarass Celtic)

The statement you refer to could have been written by Don Quixote. It sees enemies where there are windmills and is trying to take Celtic into a fight where no reason to fight exists.
Celtic are above ALL (and this includes nationality) based on charity. Lest anyone forget, charity means love. Loves opposite is not hate, it is fear, and the fear they express of losing the Irishness in our identity is totally without base unless we have lost faith in the assurance that love always prevails.
Where love exist there is nothing to fear. Nothing, even the mud slinging, which will be turned to love's purpose.
Keep the faith.
WGS
Yes. Nicola Dica has moved on - cannot remember where though. Radoi, top player, semingly off to Inter for £11m or so.
I hope we can pull off one or two "coups" in the next window or two, as we were last season we are not far away from having a very good side.
Martin on reading your post i tracked back having missed the offending post (was probably travelling up to Glasgow at the time)I am appalled by the unjustified and unprovoked slur that was posted by Dublin Bhoy to which you refer. It was completely un acceptable to slander the Brennan family in such a manner as was posted at 9:51 on 8 November and the half hearted apology did not match/compensate the vitriolic outburst!
you and your family are wonderful people and i cannot beleive that anyone could ever question your celtic supporting credentials
goodnight and kind regards

Auldheid,
I've steered clear of the poppy debate as by the time I'd caught up on it it seemed like every angle had been exhausted on it. I'm Scottish. I have no ties linking me to Ireland. But am I wrong to feel, judging by some of the posts, that people want to see or believe Celtic to be an Irish club playing in the Scottish League.
I'm extremely proud of the history of my club and it's Irish connections. I'm 100% Scottish and proud of that as well. Yet, it's taken me this long to say so on the forum...
Dobbo,
Dica joined Catania but has only played a couple of matches for them and hasn't started since September. Not sure if there is an injury involved in it or not.
WGS, in reply to you FREE THE OWEN one campaign you have re-invented, I am all for it!
Appreciate your random thoughts/targets/scouting.
Paul, dont know if this has been asked earlier but do you honestly think that Mark McGhee has been lined up? And if so would take the job?
Hail Hail
The Other L Hamilton,
Why would we need another manager while GS is still going so strongly?
Alot of Celtic bashing going on in the media by...
the hypocrites.
Down south over the weekend I observed that Chelsea FC did not wear a jersey with a poppy in their match at Blackburn.
Managers such as Roy Keane and Martin O'Neill where interviewed without wearing a poppy.
Has the English media attacked the London club or made an issue of two Irish managers not wearing a poppy?
No, yet here in Scotland we have Celtic bashing by the hypocrites.
Hypocrites because many of them bang a drum to remember other battles.
What a shame they use Rememberance weekend to have the cheapest shot at Celtic.
On this 90th Anniversary to the extra-ordinary men that gave their lives in the Great War, RIP.
I want to know what will happen to Ed's brick when Ibrox is demolished to make way for the new £700m stadium.
Chris Sutton Is a Legend
I think some of the passion roused and its negative effects were underestimated.
As long as we do not fall into the same trap next year and damage limitation this year is all that matters now
Come on everyone give it a break - please!
Famine songs, rememberence disrespect, union flags, saltires, tricolours, biased press, Celtic turncoates, republicans, protests, malevolent Murray, radio stations, racism, sectarianism, terrorists, freedom fighters etc. etc.
Am I the only one depressed by the minute and virulent examination of every comment, every phrase, every word, every intonation, every pause in order to 'catch out' someone as proof of one suspicion or another.
I realise eternal vigilance is the safeguard of democracy but really.
If we are determined to find fault then by God we will. Not difficult really since, well, none are faultless.
Despite all, this country is freerer than most and if someone thinks I'm a republican zealot or a unionist patsy I don't give a damn. Democratic freedom gives the right of free expression and speech (within reason) but almost as important IT GIVES NO RIGHT TO BE LISTENED TO.
I estimate I agree with one third of the population (or in this case bloggers) I absolutely disagree with one third and always ignore the final third.
And my point is...not sure really except to say CAN WE GET BACK TO THE FOOTBALL where at least I know my opinion is paramount and the rest of you are talking mince!

"Wear your poppys with shame."
Yawn - time for bed said Zebedee - boink.
Four four two have released their yearly 100 top players in the world. Only 1 Celtic player made the list. In fact I think he's the only one from the SPL.
Artur Boruc was ranked 52nd best player in the world.
With regards to keepers in the top 100 that would put him as no.3 in the world according to them.
Only 5 keepers made it into the top 100.
Goalkeeper:
4. Casillas (Real Madrid)
19. Buffon (Juventus)
52. Boruc (Celtic)
53. Cech (Chelsea)
92. Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow)

"ARE YOU FOR REAL a lot of the young guys join up because of the very fact that they have little options, they don't get to choose where, when or who and the facts are that most of these young guys from schemes like Pollock were the young Celtic supporter soldier who got killed by a roadside bomb came from , enlist to give themeselves a chance in life."
I should have made myself clearer. I could never condone the action of people enlisting in the armed forces knowing in advance that they could be part of an army of occupation. (it says it on the tin and the Brits do it regularly - and better than most). Even in times of high unemployment I never did buy into the excuses that these soldiers had no other option. Mitigating circumstances? Yes. A reason or excuse? most definitely No.
Countless millions of young people have come from working class areas, some utterly deprived places, and have managed to get on in the world without having to resort to a job that involves being part of an army of occupation, shooting and bombing innocent civilians in far off countries.
"ARE YOU FOR REAL
Why the megaphone? You don't have to shout from this virtual platform. We can all 'hear' you.
Blooter It 8.48
You think they should maybe 'just get on their bikes' to seek out these opportunities?
Norman Tebbitt's urgings related to asking whole communities to go elsewhere to look for work. It was as unworkable as it was reactionary.
Are you seriously suggesting that being unemployed, even long term, justifies you being part of an occupying force of someone else's country? I wonder how you would feel if an army of unemployed foreigners arrived on your streets and started to order you about at gunpoint.
This poppy cock is all just another angle to get at Celtic , nothing more and much less than the blatant cheating and press manipulation of last season . Three in a row going on four. Put yourselves in their shoes and laugh. They will stoop at nothing to get even the slightest edge on us .
To split our support , have brother shout at brother.
Don't play their game. Let our hoops play our game , on the park. The only way we can beat them is to beat them. Keep the faith. Let the people sing.

Celtic_First, Agree it is essentially a bit of fun and the 6 month period does allow for a new one to be started.
Jinkysbhoy,
I never askesd you, or expected you, or for that matter wanted you to "p" off.
I simply posted my views on dublin bhoy, his bile, and personal attack on my son of whom he knows absolutely nothing.
I find the man arogant smallminded and extreme.
I, and I speak only for myself, have no wish to see him post again on this site til he fully retracts the offending post and issues a complete apology.
You on the other hand, I have no problem with, your posts always treat fellow posters with a high regard, and are never ever arogant, smallminded or extreme.
Please do not think that my post to you last evening was an attack on you or your contributions to Celtic Quick News.
They were most certainly.
