The Bhoys to win 5-0, the Ghod-Like Caldwell having an average game for a footballing diety so I am only predicting he scores a hat-trick today, Skoosh with one and Koki coming off the bench to get the 5th.
Fit like loon? Sorry I never got back to you last week, getting totally stressed out at work these days, plus have bought a new house (moving on 12/12), and still doing my old place up before getting it on the market this month!
Big Joe -
Did I read correctly the other day that you are leaving the 'Big T'? If so, where you off to?
Hoops to win by 4-0 (Maloney, Sheridan, S. Brown, Nakamura)
mcgraininspain
we never did see eye to eye about me following Celtic.
He didn't like one bit me wearing the Hoops or any Celtic colours in public.
He always it would me bring me trouble I didn't need.
But, He was a decent God fearing good catholic man.
God bless Him.
Does it not inspire confidence and perhaps illustrate the difference between ourselves and rangers, IF,hypothetically we were to receive a 8 figure bid for one of our 'stars' that we could reject the bid out of hand?
The Hamilton manager has a plan and having three centre halfs and being in the faces of Celtic`s players are key components.
Gordon is looking for the Bhoys to start well. Scott McDonald has been withdrawn from Australia match in midweek. Caddis, Loovens and Samaras on the bench.
Come on Celts!
Skippy will be a miss today as he holds the ball up well making killer passes contributing largely to our recent form so hope we dont miss him too much,C'mon The Mighty!!!!!!
curly living outta card board boxes eating yer dinner off yer lap the joys of moving house eh ? When i came across from cork to newcastle took me 4 weeks to find the remote for the TV.
Not sure if mizuno is on the bench but young koki impressed again during mid-week. Celtic to win and any more than 2 goals would be a welcome bonus
hail hail and onward to 10 in a row
It took a long time but I feel Hinkel is just strolling through games now and is showing why he has had so many caps for Germany. I am a bit worried about Wilson though, he is playing well in the left back possition, he is playing so good that there are very few posters on here calling for us to buy a left back in January nowadays, if the board catches on to this they will think all is fine and not sanction the money for a new left-back.
I think we showed up thinking that the three points are in the bag. I think it is a bit strange going to Hamilton and we stack the middle with Hartley, Brown and Donati. We should have more flair players on, Maloney is not a striker. Take Hartley or Donati off move Maloney back to midfield and bring on Sammi.
If Celtic don't do anything soon I am going to start singing some songs that Dr Reid will not approve, but first I will lock the door so the Polis don't catch me.
There's something about the penalty/red card combo I don't like. Why not award a goal credited to no one and just yellow card the defender, similar to the penalty try in rugby. It ruins the game.
Maloney hasn't been looking his best for the last few matches and he never performs well as part of a front two.
With only Sheridan in the middle I don't understand our consistent attempts at getting the play wide and swinging high balls into the box.
Wouldn't it be better to try and work it through the middle to create opportunities. Maloney, Nakamura and even Donati have the ability to draw a foul in a dangerous position but we seem intent in pushing everything out wide.
Dreadful lackadaisical performance. Gives us Caddis for a bit of pace. Gorgeous for Maloney if George is fit enough. Donati making nice passes but needs to be more urgent, more involved...
well didn't expect this level of performance
accies well up for it trying to make up for their poor performance at celtic part last month
our defence is getting exposed very reminiscent of last year ,
loosing every 50/50 lucky to be level at HT
up until sending off I would have moved brown central as game is passing donati by,
we are away so we need to dig and mo is not up to it , although he is not alone
hopefully they will sit in and we can get our passing game going
predict a 3-1 victory
Maloney at the wrong Hamilton races today. Nothing sticking at all.
(Kojo might have a point for it was Maloney's ability to hold up play that made me first notice him.)
Donatti not imposing himself but to be fair neither are Scott Brown and Naka.
Lucky to be going in even at the break, foul started outside the box, Sheridan tripped himself as a result inside the box. Clear goal scoring opportunity though and a penalty the right decsion although technically questionable.
Need to change things up front although with only 10 men Hamilton might be forced back anyway and they are liable to make the kind of mistake that led to the penalty.
The Hamilton scorer is quick and we will need to watch he does not get any one on ones as we press.
i agree that maloney has looked jaded upfront perhaps still carrying an injury sub him for mizuno and add some more forward impetus to our play. Wonder if we seriously under-estimated hamilton having beat them 4-0 last time at parkhead. donati has been anonymous and needs to provide more from the middle of the park. Expect to see samaras introduced in the second half
With Macdonald out surely this is as down to the bare bones as Celtic will get this season. If we can pull a result off today, that would do wonders for our morale and send the Darnel into a terminal downward spiral.
Poor first half performance from Celtic. We are lucky to be level. Very strange line-up with only one out and out striker. Hamilton will be gutted to be level and facing a second half with only 10 men. Defensively we have looked a bit shaky - Their goalscorer is proving to be a handful - only Caldwell is looking comfortable.
Accies game plan was to play everything down their right and it paid off with their goal.
We have too many players in midfield. Hartley, Brown and Donati seem to be playing in the same position. Maloney is his usual bustling self with little or no end product. Naka has looked jaded - his mind is probably on his long flight to Japan tonight. Cilian has had very little to do as the service up to him has been poor.
I would like to see Samaras on for Hartley and Robson on for Maloney. An early goal may well see us getting 4 or 5.
today's under par 1st half performance emphasizes how much scott mcdonald has brought to the team in recent weeks, even when not scoring some of skippy's link up play has been great. A wake up call and reality check to those who were already thinking that the league was in the bag following rangers dropped points mid-week
We should really push on against 10 men but I'm still fearful of more heffing and puffing and a scary run in to the game. Will happily take a scrappy win at the mo. Com on hoops - prove me wrong...
Big Bad John Hartson and Butcher criticized the linesman for not giving a free-kick instead of a penalty but neither one of them thought it was necessary to name the linesman.
For me Haliton goal was offside but I cant see it too well here but the pen is just another example of the Scottish media being selective in its coverage and focus.
Had we got a goal like the Accies one the it would be over and over cross analysed etc
I dont often travel at weekends - this is murder. I never knew you could press an F5 key that often after they scored - anyone within earshot of me now know that the done thing for a travelling scot who's team just went down a goal to the bottom of the league says aloud "och for **** sake Sellic"
Right Gordon - get ripped intae them - game of 2 halfs and we dont want the same again.
glad thats over and 3 golden points in the bag, need to go shower and wash away all the spit from accies manager. and another thing THATS WHY CELTIC ARE THE CHAMPIONS
Well played by Hamilton they probably deserved to get something out of the game but thank ghod they didn't. We were bound to have a bad game one of these days I am glad it was against the Accies. Number 10 in wins in a row for the Bhoys to lead us on to four in a row SPL titles.
That game went just as I dreaded it might. Especialy after hearing McDonald was out. We need to get some more players back before we do start to toil. Felt sorry for Hamilton but glad we got the result of course.
l Have Been Worried about our Upcoming trip to Paisley for weeks now (they have only lost 3 goals all season at home) if we play like we did today we will drop 2pts at Least....
That was horribly like that game against Gretna last year, which must make Paul Hartley the new Chris Killen! The injury crisis must surely be easing now. Onwards and upwards.
Scott Booth really ought to let go about the penalty decision. Wee guy's girning face must surely be tripping him. I would have laughed so hard if we'd scored off that corner that everyone thought was a shy as well.
Some on here say there is no such thing as LUCK.
I don't know what forces were at work out there today, but I do know we were LUCKY.
We will rarely play worse & collect 3 points.
I am thrilled out of my head.
Didn't see the game today but heard the end on the radio and read your comments.
Poor performance by the sounds of it - but winning while playing badly is the sign of champions. 10 wins in a row is a superb run given the injuries we have had.
And how important are Paul Hartley's goals? Every one he has scored for us has meant something.
Let's hope for no injuries for anyone with international teams this week and then a better performance against St Mirren next weekend.
Surely they cannot seriously send Naka to Bahrain and Skippy to Qatar now. Feet up this week for these guys and back to biz next Sat. against that odious wee H!n Gus MacPherson. Herr Hinkel particularly poor. Shocking distribution all day.
The big thing about today is however poor we were (And the decision making and general distribution was poor - Hinkel anyone) we came up against a goalie having a great game - 2 cracking saves which should have earned their draw - his punch led to our goal though.
Off key and WinninG is the mark of champions.
Spare a thought for the lovely succulent lamb and countless roasts we've just put people off up and down the country - The Cardigan's household for one - and the ref's surname was Conroy?????!!!!!
that was a struggle but 3 points will do
time for a few call offs from a meaningless friendly , we have players who could sit it out for scotland and be rested for st mirren next saturday time for us to be smart the league is our priority
One long standing concern i have had since the beginning of the season it celtics unwillingness to shoot from distance. all too often we try to pass/cross the ball into the net. thankfully Paul Hartley scored his second sweet strike from distance in recent weeks and donati's shot against Kilmarnock set up Sheridan's second goal on wednesday night. i hope this is something celtic look at accurate shots on target from distance. All too often this celtic team play too many intricate passes around the box and players in possession are reluctant to take responsibility for a shot on goal. We need more variety if we are to beat aalborg away so celtic lets be inspired by recent goals from maloney and hartley and get your shooting boots on ! Welcome three points but perhaps maloney needs a wee rest...unfortunately donati missed his chance to stake a claim for more regular first team action. Samaras still short of match fitness but hopefully has more to offer against st mirren next time out.
Cousin may have scored but surprise surprise the Man City goalkeeper is recieving treatment. The man's a thug and I for one am pleased he won't be playing at Ibrox on 27th December
Well whit aboot that then.........................Celtic were poor but these are the games that win the League ............again, I would have been ok with a draw because we never played that well .......so what a kick in the nackers for any team who think they can take ooor league title.
here we go 4 in a row............and more, the Celts can only get better.....can only get , can only get........
Even though it was only a few days Sammi looked sharper today than he did on Wednesday night. He's coming along nicely.
Caddis didn't do too badly either. I like the fact that he tries to put a bit of variation in his crosses. You'll see him fizz the odd one low into the near post at times.
Just to let you all know – I know you’re all waiting with bated breath – the local supporters club fundraising was an outrageous success last night. The highlight of which was the performance of our own Lurgan56 (riding under his CQN moniker) in race 4. My own performance doesn’t warrant any discussion whatsoever.
Suffice to say 56’s performance (you race your own horse with an ingenious string and baton) was the talk of the evening. The most surprising issue though was the fact that he had only ONE punter backing him. That was of course myself! He came in first at
30 /1 leaving me with a tidy profit. AT THAT STAGE.!!!
Such was my confidence in him that I invested heavily in the auction for the final race – The Race of Champions – and snapped him up for a modest £17 which I considered to be a sound investment. The balance was placed as a wager even though his price had fallen to 2/1. I was not worried. The lad had class. AT THAT STAGE!
ALAS! The interval between Race 4 and the Race of Champions had been spent in heavy indulgence. By race time the alcohol had taken effect and naturally his performance suffered. A lot! He was a pale imitation of the thoroughbred who had strolled to victory in Race 4 and ……… well he actually never managed to finish the Race of Champions!
Still the images of his first victory will warm all who know him throughout the long winter. It was indeed a classic performance. Slow, rhythmical, deliberate and purposeful wrist movements which left the whole audience gaping in admiration. It was indeed a majestic performance!!
the view they keep showing is NOT the one the linesman had
imo his view would have been obscured with the Accies defender coming across his line of vision as the tackle is made ...also Sheridan deserves credit for managing to land in the middle of the box /3-4 yds from the tackle
Anybody else catch how much teh commentator on Setanta was going on about Celtic late goals.
The dobbers watching musy have been sick listening to it, and then we scored.
AYE the Sunday dinners ruined in a few house's and WELL mines will be succulent.
I imagine quite a few Hun households tomorrow morning will be calling their insurance company to make a claim for their smashed TVs. Off for a few Barnsley Bitters before the Professor Gunther von Hagens of the CQN come on and dissects each individual Celtic Players performance on todays game.
to be fair to donati, he has to have a target to pass to......the strikers movement today was poor and the full backs never got beyond the midfield players
i would like to see the hamilton goal again...my impression was that the guy who scored was well offside as it was crossed in
good attitude today and never say die spirit, but this was one game where lack of physical presence nearly came back to haunt us
A good 3 points for the bhoys today and hopefully will be able to get some of our injured players back.
Still feel we start games to slowly at times then need a late goal to rescue us.
Glad for Hartley - hes playing well and throughly deserved his goal.
Another manager (Reid) makes the referee a scapegoat. Foul was outside area - although I didn't think so at first - however no mention of the awful defending which lead to the Sheridan opportunity by either Reid or the Setanta panel. Scott Booth also thought the the whole Celtic team should have been booked after the goal?????
Another win under our belts, another week towards a fitter, and hopefully stronger squad for the tricky December period. The emotional rollercoaster for the Rangers fans would have been fun to witness today. I would take the same at Love St next week for the early Saturday kick off.
Picture the scene at ten past 2 as the Rangers fans head to Ibrox with Celtic struggling at St Mirren, then fast forward 20 mins and the atmosphere down govan way will be as flat as a pancake as they know Celtic have got out of jail and lead Rangers by 7 points, and the best they can be is 4 behind at the end of the day.
A few points on the team, particulaly where we can improve.
Goalkeeping, seems to be fine. Boruc we know is perhaps our only world class player, in Brown we seem to have a good deputy and Cervi is rated highly.
Defensivly, we know we are shy of a proper left back. Nothing new here. Centre back is a real concern for me. At times we look solid as and times shaky. The problem is that in Caldwell we have someon who is good on the deck for a centre back, but lacks the strength and athletesism that would see him push on. McMannus has leadership qualities and is brave, but is poor on the ball. If both were combined they would be a formidable player, but they cannot. I still think we need a new player here, but it is not a priority.
Midfield. We will need to replace Naka with a special player soon. I imagine WGS has planned for this. For me the most pressing concern is to find a settled partner for Scott Brown. We have seen how good he can be and it he were playing alongside a midfielder in the Senna mould he could push on even further. Finding said player should be a priority as Donati is too inconsistent, Hartley is not getting any younger and Crossas needs time to develop, in any event I believe we need some size in the middle of the park. I think i am in a minority of not rating Barry Robson's "technical" ability on the ball, but his attitude and work rate are first class.
Attack. Well covered i think, but we still lack someone of serious pace and quality to strike fear into european opponents.
Overall, we are well set, but i believe that in the next season or two we will need to add 4/5 players to really put a stranglehold on the SPL and challenge for CL progression to the 1/8 and beyond, and/or the UEFA cup. Whether the club can afford this is another thing.
Leaving the field is not an automatic booking. The ref has to take into account the circumstances: a player has just scored a late winner in a very difficult match against a former team. Surely a celebration is justified?
I read elsewhere FF's in meltdown, one of the quotes-" Rangers should be on the phone right now making their worries clear as we are clearly being cheated out of this league!" HAPPY DAYS!
Brown for me as deputy is a no goer. Does not command his box especially the 6 yard box. Celtic play at a quick tempo, but like Douglas he takes an eternity to start the play whe he gets possession. It as if he is playing for ICT wasting time. I don't feel secure when he's in and i don't think our centre halves have much confidence in him either.
Billy Reid on FiveLive complaining about penalty kick decision. He also mentioned decisions against Rangers and Motherwell. Such is the lot of a football manager.
ianinascoli
take it billy reid forgot to mention their goal witch helped them beat Dundee utd ist game of the season when mcarthur used his hand to put the ball in.
amazing how you only remember the decisions you dont get
i also thought their goal today was offside bot no analysis on setatnta to help you decide
F/F is indeed in meltdown; it took ages to log on because of the volume of traffic.
Here are some quotes from a thread called “Referee – Mr Steven Conroy”
“Am I being paranoid, or is this a cheating bassa!”
“Stand to be corrected but was told yesterday this guy has a doctors surgery in East Kilbride with Celtic photos on the walls in his waiting room. “
“the assistant Young went to St Andrews ib Saltcoats - a republican breeding ground if there ever was one!”
“The SPL officials' list is rigged in their favour. It's infested with Rhats like Conrhoy and that beadrattler Murphy the other night.”
Or how about the thread called: “Rangers Resign From League”
“What is the point in playing in a league where your rivals are gifted points by the officials on a weekly basis? I would rather see us quit the league and play frendlies than watch us in this corrupt league. If Rangers dont send a dossier to UEFA of the cheating going on in this league then i will!”
“We actually should leave the league with immediate effect”
“It was clear at the end of last season that Celtic minded officials would go out of their way to help them and they have continued in the same vein this season. Until we get an invesitigation into why there are so many Celtic minded officials refereeing at the top level in Scotland and get some balance we will be at a considerable disadvantage,,, “
And finally one bear has started a thread called: “Dossier help required”
“However, i have made the decision to make a dossier, as professional as i can make it, of all the decisions that have went in Celtics favour this season and to win them the league last season.
I am looking for everyone to PM me pictures and video links of these decisions as i dont want to miss anything out.
The least this would do is make UEFA sit up and take note of the Corruption that is going on in this little league of ours.
You know the chap; Jorge Cadete at the 'Brox; BBJ in the CIS Final; Dodgy pens in the last minute at Tynie for the horribles.
Well, he's done been and gone and hauled it to the Darkside.
I know I oughtn't, but wallowing on Follow Follw after today is, officailly, lots of fun.
A brief precis of the general thread of opinion is:
1. The SPL is corrupt.
2. There is a GENUINE, by the way, CONSPIRACY by Papist officials to hand the league to us.
3. Rangers ought to resign from the League (remember Davie Hay being ridiculed for a similar remark after the CIS in '86? Davie Syme, now THAT was a biased official of the old school).
4. Steve Conroy is identified in terms of his place of work.
5. Did I mention corruption yet?
You get the picture.
Kindly old Uncle Walter was careless to a very culpable degree in setting this particular hare running after Motherwell, pressure behind the scenes at Darksville, methinks.
Roccobhoy and I were in the railway club in Hamilton before the match and there was a guy with the hoops shirt with ANTON ROGAN with a picture of the man and the dates ne played for Celtic. Was gonna ask him for his shirt for you.
Hamiton's goal was definitely not offside. I think the second replay shown 15mins 15 seconds into game proves conclusively that he was onside. The beauty of Sky plus.........
Some good points, agree especially with the Caldwell-McManus merger, if only. Even in Loovens, I don't think we have a top-class defender, although he offers a great attacking threat.
I'm also in your minority re Robson's technical ability. His effort and attitude are incredible. Someone posted an incredible stat not so long ago - that every (SPL) game in which BR has started, Celtic have gone on to win. I think that says a lot about the man, and his ability to inspire.
I was in the Railway Club too - the shirt you saw is of a young lad, Anton Rogan White, who died when he was around 14 years old - you'll see their banner at some of the other away games.
WGS 5-08pm
Browns distribution was very quick today and he looks better on cross balls than Boruc.
He is not in Arturs class though.
I mentioned to a fellow fan today how much better his distribution was than Boruc;s.
"Did Rangers not get their own share of luck against the Hammies? Tell these FF fellows to keep that in mind."
Unfortunately FF is not like here. Post anything off message and you get labelled as a "Timposter" and banned. I was banned once and had to work hard to get a new identity on there. As Blindlemonchitlin says, we shouldn't really lurk on there but sometimes it can be so rewarding. The entertainment value is superb.
I think with deputy goalies you need to be pragmatic. Brown has sat on the bench for god knows how long, and has done a half decent job. Marshall did not stick around long in that role! Interesting point re centre halves point, perhaps their performance is linked to Brown in goal?
Gus
At least i am not on by own! It is in the CL where he frustrates me, giving away too many fouls when there is no need, rarely playing an incisive pass and lacking the speed to recover ground and/or support. We do need a big, commanding central midfielder soon. Shame Fletcher is doing so well at Man U....
As for the Centre backs, i think we shold look to a big, fast, imposing player who is good on the ball. Caldwell got bullied by Carew for Scotland, and needs to get faster and stronger.
More generally, we are not Barcelona and need a physical edge to our game at times, esp in the SPL. Combining techical prowess for the CL/UEFA and physical need for the SPL would be a huge feat foe WGS to achieve, and would give us a very good side.
I've been trying to register for ages........wouldn't take my email address for some reason.......must have been some link to Castle Grayskull......LOL........any way, I'm on now.......Tiocfaidh.......today's game ?? best way to win, really.......gets FF goin'.......great for replacement telly sales !!!!!!!
I asked Roccobhoy "does that say White under the name" but we couldnt really make it out.
God rest the bhoy. In heaven with my son then. No doubt doing the huddle at the end of todays match.
I came into the club around 12.40 and stayed until 1.20 just as was meeting Roccobhoy in there but had to go pick up my ticket. Did you see the old fella trip over the stage ???
67 heaven,Ive tried for months to get in,the problem is they dont accept accounts like Yahoo, you know easily set up and anonymous, they ask you to use work related email addressess, thats because none of us Timmies have jobs and if we do theres certainly not a P.C available to us.
fatherandbhoy cheers, was watching via the internet and it was not clear when the ball was crossed where the Hamilton striker was
see the centre half debate has started, thats the first goal we have lost in 3 league games , think mick has picked up from some poor early season games , and although today caldwell didn't play as well as recently as a pair they have been doing well
we have won again lets look forward to beating st mirren
It strikes me that the FFers are where we were at pre-1998. It hurt like hell and everyone, I mean everyone, was to blame. In hindsight it was embarrassing when you consider the simple truth that largely they were better than us for 9IAR.
I listened to one of the phones-ins midweek and the 'timmy-conspiracy' was aired by one of TFOD - how I laughed.
The shoe is well and truly on the other foot nowadays and the view from up here is great. :)
As sure as night follows day we will get these terrible games, their part and parcel of life.
The good thing is we won the game and another three points added to our total.
We should be happy with the outcome,What with Hamilton scoring first and us playing bad,not a bad result at all.
I shouldn't have said "terrible game"as I haven't seen the match yet,but by all the moaning and groaning
that's coming from posters,Celtic must have been bad.
My philosophy is,thank god it was Hamilton we met today rather than one of the better teams in the League.
I have been saying that we need a big dminat centre half for ages now to either partnet McMnaus or Caldwell i got panned as recently as last week. I agree 100% with you we need a dminat centre half that can win high balls.
The centre half position needs looking at, as do all areas of the team. To not do so would be slack at best! Still a bit upset at Bassa and Vukojevic, hopefully we will have better luck next time.
At todays game the linesman at the Celtic end (same end as our pen) gave Hamilton a very late corner when the ball very clearly hit the Accies man before going out of play. THis corner could have led to a goal - and the pen that was given did lead to a goal for us same as if he had given a FK for us instead of a PK Naka may have scored.
I thought the Offiong injury was a joke - he was down when Accies had the ball going forward and they ran past him with the ball - retaining possession for at least 30 secs with the ball over near the line at our goal. Thne when they crossed it in we won it and moved up the park -m ref runs past Offiong has a look and pats him on the head and playes on. 15 secs later with us in possession over at their dug out their bench complain to the ref along with their punters in the stand and ref stops play with us in attack and them down to 9 men.
bet theres not a big deal made of that other than us being unsporting
WGS
Goal we lost today was typical of a few against us.Both centre backs are guilty of ball watching which is reason 1 opposition player gets space even with 2 centre backs in close proximity.
McManus went towards ball carrier which was ok but Caldwell did the same allowing player chance. It is a fundamental rule to stay goalside of opponent but our ball watching antics frequently leave us on the wrongside. This was so apparent against the huns earlier in season.
We really lack an organiser and leader at the back
One concern about FF and other extreme forums is that information on players, managers, match officials is so easy to pass on- as has apparently happened today and in the past
This could snowball and become an orchestrated campaign. In time this will lead to promising up and coming referees/assistants to say "what the hell, I'm not putting me or my families safety in danger- this is not worth it".
This will only leave the zealots and the incompetents officiating at matches.
GC and Mick are fine......as a team, we WILL struggle now and then....the points are the main thing when we do !!!......the RANKERS struggle, but lose points in the process..LOL...LmoreL..!!!....that's the difference and that's how to win leagues......have you noticed that the meeja have given up trying to wind up/riducule etc GS....that's because he has sorted them out big time.....when he arrived, they tried the same games they have 'played' with every Celtic manager......He treated them with the contempt they deserve, and he now has them 'in his pocket'.....they have stepped right back.......!!!
Like to thank Gordon once again for allhis help class act was at the game when we last wore the shamrock strip v Kilmarnock in the quarter final of the Scottish cup at Parkhead i wish most of the celtic supporters could see the strip it would be a wonderful choice as our away strip it would outsell any away strip the club has ever had, As for t as odays performance these are the games that "WILL" take the championship back to Paradise we will need all our main players back from injury for DEC if iwas wgs i would pull all the players out of WED friendly games we should look after only CELTIC
Golden rule of defending was broken for the goal mate. Sorry!! Striker was in between our two centre halves. Could drive a bus between the two of them. Mick got caught going towards the ball and GC did not provide enough cover in behind and was caught. Simple goal!! Some finish from OFFiong though
I got banned from FF home for the bewildered a few years ago after a carefully organised donkey of a horse tip that a fair few went for, I was timpostered out of there before the race had finished.
I found this picture.
maybe not the best example, but it is the famous 'Shamrock Strip'
I'm sute I spotted Tommy Gemmell and Wee Jinky both wearing it in this photograph
Cheers. Something wrong with my computer then. Noticed last night that certain videos on Skysports weren't loading and now the gamecentre is doing nothing and yet Youtube etc works fine. I updated Firefox the other day and also I see I've had two new security updates automatically installed on Friday. Not sure if either are causing the problem.

My dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear, dear, friend... WGS
So that is the Golden Rule of Defending..
To wit...
Nevah allow the player to get BETWEEN the Two Center Backs..
Now have I got that straight?
Noo... As ye know.. ah hiv nevah, evah, played the game...
Howevahhhhhhhh..
Let's examine, this Golden Rule, for a minute..
Now if the Golden Rule States..as you hiv jist said..
Nevah Allow the player to get BETWEEN, the Two Center Backs..
Diz that mean.. the The Two Center Backs should be BOTH align themselves... in Front of the Player.. or..
Should the Two Center Backs be BOTH Behind the Player?
If they make eether of the above moves..
Dae ye no think that they are leaving themselves... Wide Open..should the Ball pass over their Heads..or.. if the Ball reaches the opposing Striker, First , at a Lower Parabola?
Seems to me ..the correct move of the Two Center Backs, would be to KEEP the Striker..at all times...
Between Them.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
However, as I have nevah played the Game..
I guess I must bow to your greater Knowledge and experience.
Far from the performance of the season but possibly the result of the season so far.
Kicking off without a regular scorer in the side is never an ideal situation.
Meaning 10 in a row was not a formality.
Hartley's late strike would have been a dagger in the guts to some.
Estadio - I wonder when they will realise when they reappointed Smith they stepped back 10 years!
It would have been akin to Scotland replacing Smith with Craig Broon!
Watch it when the ball get first played in. Firstly, the cross should have been closed down better. Secondly, one of pur centre halves is watching the ball rather what's around him, thirdly i think it's Gary Caldwell has seems to be caught wrong side for me. Why has that happened who knows? Maybe he's just reacted and noticed this and trying to make it up for it. Maybe Offiong make a quick run across him. All in all could have been better defended in my view. Take nothing away from Offiong, finish was a cracker.
Kojo during today's blog update you were spot on about caddis making a difference today this point was also picked up in the post match analysis on radio scotland by jim duffy. I also agree with you that mcmanus and caldwell have been playing well. ok we lost a goal today but these things happen our settled centre back partnership has been the cornerstone on which the 10-IAR victories have been acheived. Molly malone-y has certainly been off the boil for several matches of late. Mark Wilson whilst doing well (until struggling badly today) has probably had his longest run of successive games since he came from the tangerines as one who has struggled with injuries and fitness in the past Wilson long over due a wee rest (maloney too) Perhaps noe is the time to freshen up with mcgeady and naylor both to come back into the side for st mirren next week end if both are fit.
Continued effective squad rotation will maintain winning momentum during the winter...
fight like these guys did in 1990 against england.....made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! If only the scottish football team were as committed as these guys were!!!!!
BHOYS can anyone help there is a few beers on this ithink david FERNANDEZ WAS A SUB IN SEVILLA my mates in the boozers think i am going mad it may well be true help
I aint seen much of Offiong, however the couple of times i seen him he looked pretty decent. Done well i thought today. Some finish. If that was JVOH or Samaras we would be raving about it.
My dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,friend... WGS
It is a slippery slope that ye go doon pal.. when ye try tae dae some Monday Morning Quarter Backing..
And really, that's whit ye ur indulging in.
Look, the Striker who scored, beat oor two worthies tae the Ba'.
It is as simple as that...
Ah used tae watch... Henrik, dae the self same thing... time after time.
At Corners and other Flighted Ba's into the Danger area.. Henrik, was almost guaranteed to win the Ba, FOIST.. every time..
He wiz jist Guid at that. He had a Talent... Mebbe,Offiong hiz a wee bit talent like that, as weel.. Possible?
Ah know the Glen Napper Loovens... has the exact same talent.. and I hiv only watched him three four times...
Glen, can inveigle himself intae the Best Position, tae get tae the Heider Foist..
He jist his goat that whatevahh ye want tae call it.. Seventh Sense?
Ah wull go wit that...
They tell me, that JIMMY MCGRORY.. really, was the Master o that Talent... and in spades.
Och...I could go oan..
Look, the Goal that wiz scored today with, OFFIONG..wiz no an easy wan . He hid tae make a dive at the Ba', tae connect.
Na.. I believe ye ur jist determined to pit the blame oan someboady.. because Hamilton scored.
I am sorry,pal.. but I stick to my original line..
"WE wull lose the odd, odd Goal... That is part of the Game... so dinna pull apart a winning Defensive Combo, like we hiv, the Noo.. because ye waant tae place the Blame...
Jist accept it.."
I dae.. nae bother.
I just shrug ma shooders... and kick the cat... woiks every time.
When Setanta replaced the dreadful Hateley and Brown with Scot Booth,an ex sheepie with no obvious bias to either of the O** F***,i thought maybe i can watch with the sound up now.
As it's turned out he's a flaming nightmare,he mentioned the penalty any time he spoke and wanted all our players booked for leaving the field of play.
But in a perverse way it's really funny and satisfying as he represents their pain and frustration, here's to 4 in a row and more biased comments.
Tomorrow Maradona and his squad get to fulfill their lifetime dreams and get to train at Celtic Park. I think we should lock them in and keep them for a few weeks til the injuries sort them selves out.
Thought you might want the Vikings to lose as they are in the same division as the Packers. But I took the Vikings whereas most in my wee prediction league have Tampa ...
Most have Green Bay, but a couple have Chicago including those directly above and below me!
vmhan is back in the room.........................
jist back fae the local pub.........before we left.......2 Celts in the pub singing hail hail.......but there wis more than 2 singing along.......brill......the locals are becoming hoopsters..........and as we stopped somebody else started singing sure its a grand old team to play for.............this was especially brilliant because there was a BNP'er standing beside TON-CHE-TIM.........and the locals seemed to be sticking it in to him ...............
oh the rankers are toilet.........
watched a great film last night ......."taken" Lian Neeson........going to watcj Bablyon the noo.
kojo and another thing would the speculative desires expressed by other posters regarding michael owen not contravene at least one of your golden rules not withstanding that we dinnae have the money to pay his salary. Am also not to keen on 35 year old silvinyho for left back.....we should be looking beyond glory hunters looking for an easy medal in the spl and guaranteed CL football at the end of their careers. celtic is not an easy ride for purported A/B list wannabes who expect first team football...we are expected to win every game in the spl ( imagine the melt-down if we had dropped points today)
STANDING UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS AND GORDON STRACHAN KEEP THE WINNING MENTALITY !
Sorry to be posting this here, but in enjoying reading their heart-ache, I came across this at the follow-follow forum:
Sadly its not just on the football park, just look at Politics, jobs, the media, the press, and whose fault is it. Our own.
We have let them take over Scotland; we have been critical of the good old fashioned way of protecting the status quo by checking out what schools they attended before giving them a job of any merit. We have allowed them to become educated, forgetting the age old fact that if you give them an inch they will take a mile.
Unless there is a fundamental change in the atttitude of the majority nothing will change; indeed it will only get worse.
This sounds like the American Deep South in the '60s, when Coloured people were still seen as little better than dogs - the KKK would be proud of a speech like this! It's truely worrying there are people who adopt this kind of thinking... God Save the West of Scotland!
Looks like I may have a chance of a ticket for Lover Street next weekend so should be on for a meet and greeeet with you and pablova. Dont bring Vinnybhoy though - he is a bit two faced......
Im watching the NFL (Packers are winning) a movie called Burn after Reading and blogging too. Who said men cant multi task (BTW I said that the Americano way like Mull tie task cos Im listening to the US sports guys)
I think Sylvinho might be using us to draw up interest. Could be wrong, but i think you might get your wish a get a younger player in. Saying that i think he would do if only for a year. We need one big time be it short term or long term.
RE: Goal today. Wasn't having a pop, just saying it could have been better defended that's all. Offiong goal was belter of a header. Guy deserves a lot of credit for it. He gave our centre halves a few problems today in the air. Like some other posters have said which i agree with with and you disagree with, Celtic do get done in the air by the opposition if they play with a big attacker.
WGS agree on the silvinhyo issue and noted that he self publicised his wish to play for celtic in the immediate aftermath of our excellent 1-1 draw with man united when the magnificent celtic park atmosphere was the talk of the steamie
If anyone has a log-in to FF, you should get over there now. It is hilarious, utterly beyond parody! Don't have time to cut and paste (bath night for ItaliaBhambino), but the gist is...
1. Celtic control all the important positions within the Scottish game
2. Steve Conroy's office is decorated with Celtic posters
3. No wait, that's Eddie Smith. Probably both.
4. The rot set in when Dodgy Dave didn't defend Findlay for the party songs.
5. Rangers should resign from the SPL NOW.
6. Scotland is a Jacobite statelet in all but name. FACT!
7. Celtic kept the lights of CP on during the Clydebamk Blitz to help the Nazis.
8. In the "seasonally adjusted for Timmy bias" league table, Rangers are three points ahead of us.
9. Mike McCurry was crucified for "a few honest mistakes" last year.
10. This is all a result of inTIMidation. Oh, by the way, want to know where Steve Cobroy works...?
WGS i also agree that we are very poor against the high ball in the box, mcmanus did have a very bad start to the season but has certainly picked up his form since we played villareal away. both centre backs were magnificent against man united at home in the cl. McManus and Caldwell are not perfect but it will take a multi-million pound player to split up gordon strachans preferred central defensive partnership. Once the left back position is sorted i would expect to see another improvement in our defence. More often than not the lapses can be attributed to the persistent weaknesses in our left flank and on more than one occaision mcmanus and caldwell are caught out of position when covering for the left back
Another game I'd love to attend. Not sure I'd find travel insurance to incorporate it though. :P
There used to be an advertisement from a company in World Soccer every month that did football match packages for most of the big leagues but I can't for the life of me remember their name.
I love Aiden McGeady hope he remains at the club for many years. However, what happens if a double figure bid comes in for the wee man from an EPL side. Celtic face a dilemma.
I'l'l have the tin hat on here but i reckon Celtic would accept especially if they could get a simliar player like Suraez in for the same price as Crosas.
The World Soccer packages have a huge mark-up. For a Rome or Milan match, they charge at least £400. considering you should be able to get a flight for £100, 2 nights hotel for £100 all in (sharing) and a match ticket for about £30, I wouldn't bother. Unless you're so rich, that saving £200 is no big deal or so naive that you need your hand held all the time. I would imagine you're neither!
Theres a few empty seats at that game just now, sure it must be people crowding at the back.
A trip to that stadium would be a bit scary but we shall see in May.
My mate wants to hire a bodyguard when we eventually go and do Boca v River. HT Boca Juniors 0 - 1 Velez Sarsfield just now.
I enquired about Barcelona v Real Madrid a while ago and it was something like £700 for the weekend, all flights from London. They wouldnt do a ticket only deal.
Rocco was in the Railway Club so met him 5 mins after I left you.
The Fife Bhoys were held up on M8 - got them outside the ground at 2.03 so didnt miss much
No real Plod presence where we stood (didnt sit down the whole game)and the bhoys sang "let the people". Fields, Aiden McAnespie, Soldiers song. No BOTOB today that I heard (and no TFS at Mccarthy)
Pete the beat/CSIAL match tickets for Sierra A in italy can be purchased for as little as €15. In february i was fortunate enough to wacth AC Milan vs Palermo and bought a ticket from official ticket office outside the stadium for said price (perhaps rome would be more expensive ?).
I only read the post up to about quarter past four.
And know what I find intriguing? Not one person has mentioned....
Accies were good! quite simple. Do you think man u were rotten against us?
they set out their stall with 5 in midfield, 3 at the back and we found it very difficult, on a tight ground, to counter this. Their goal only made things even more difficult and I thought it was a right good goal. I don't think it was offside or bad defending, just a right good goal.
We still took 3 points, three valuable points, as valuable as gretna last year ( someone else mentioned this earlier - it reminded me of that game too)
Wee GS made the right subs at the right time today too
In summary a very good 3 points today and well played accies.
On a different note - it's my first post since last Saturday and I just want to say big up to Pablophanque, SFTB, Jinksbhoy, Vhman and the guys with you and last but not least UNEW. Great to meet you all and share a pint and good chat.
HAIL HAIL
Here we go 4IAR.... Here we go 4IAR... Here we go o
No way Barca would sell Jeffren. I'd imagine we'd be looking at a 6mth loan deal at best. They have high hopes for him.
PeteTheBeat,
It was a while ago that I'd been close to going for it. The World Soccer deals at the time appealed mainly due to having the full package ready to go. I'd imagine that with the amount of offers on the internet these days I'd go down that route.
Estadio,
La Bombonera is a must for any avid footy fan. I'm only 37 so I hope to get to one before I shuffle off this mortal coil.
Got a 6 team accumulator on tonight. Two up, waiting on 4 more.
4th down for Miami. Game on the line... and they complete it. Now they'll run down the clock while manouvering into field goal position for the win. *sigh*
Haven't been following it. Will tune into the second half.
Great opportunity for Barça to open up a wee gap with Real Madrid losing to the mighty Pucela, Valencia losing to Sporting at home and Villarreal drawing with Málaga.
Not a great game today, I think our weakest performance since the first game against St Mirren. But it'll do.
McManus and Naka were about the only players who seemed to be awake, until Robbo and Sammy came on. Mark Brown only had a few saves to make, not much he could have done about the goal though. Caldwell had an uncharacteristically poor game, Hinkel was quiet and Wilson showed that he is quite clearly not a left-sided player. No idea why he continues to be given that spot. Scott Brown and Hartley were uninspiring for most of the match and Donati, I thought, had good and bad spells. Sheridan and Maloney are both good players but Sheridan is not experienced enough to be partnered by a player who isn't an out and out striker, and thus the strike force was weak.
Their goal was against the run of play, but even so we did nothing to equalise for ages. It looked onside to me, no complaints about it really. The penalty was a foul, and a red card, but contact just outside the box. I reckon Naka would have tucked away the free kick though, so didn't make much difference. Robson created quite a few chances when he came on but nobody took them. Samaras also lifted the team but just couldn't finish. The goal from Hartley was a great one, and once again Celtic left it late to claim the three points. We need to play more like we did against Kilmarnock if we're going to beat St Mirren next week, though, and if Aberdeen take a point against TFOD then we could really pile on the pressure with a win. Need to improve on today's performance, though, definitely.
Good chance for Eto'o at the start of the second half.
Still 0-0.
Messi dangerous again.
If Barça get the breakthrough here it will be thanks to Leo Messi.
Interesting things about Recreativo de Huelva.
1. It's the oldest club in Spain, founded 1889.
2. Yes, it happened to be founded by English guys (yawn), who were in Huelva pillaging the local resources.
evening all..just in..only thing to be said about today was that we won..workmanlike performance but way off the flowing stuff that has been in evidence recently..not surprised to see FF trying to smear mr.conroy, after all the laptop loyal tried to do it before the game at motherwell last season..all sadly predictable as is the gutter press reaction to it all the morra..
As Celtic First says a very good goal from hartley - well worth winning the game.
It should also be said that not just hartley played well at that particular moment. For a start how many others would have had a blast from there in similar circumstances but no he past it to Brown - he could have taken a touch and tried to score himself but no he instantly passed it back into the space for Hartley to take the controlled shot into the corner of the net. Make no mistake a great goal, well taken at a time of great stress. The mark of champions I think and of course I hope for 4IAR.
4. They have a right-back called Morris (a South African guy).
5. It was from here that Christopher Columbus set sail for the new world.
6. Covering the visit there of Pope John Paul II in 1992, commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Columbus voyage, I happened to go to Mass in the Jesuit church in the city. It was the Sunday evening youth Mass. The sign of peace had been transformed into the snog of peace, extending even to strangers from Glasgow. It was liturgically interesting.
Celt33
Technically, of course, he is right, but by the same logic the entire Rangers team should have been booked for celebrating their first goal at CP, then again for the second, thus giving us a 3-0 win by default. But not one of them was booked for that, so it wouldn't have been fair to book our players. It's not usually enforced, like the six-second rule.
viewfaethewindae
I certainly am, glad you liked my review.
Cheers - to be fair Booth did say it was an absolute cracker - fit to win any game (and it was)
Did you here my car do "let the people sing" when I drove through Blantyre at 12.30
Eventheolivesarebleeding
Ive had a top day - Celtic won and I was there - Green bay won against the equiv of rankers 37-3 (a tanking and Vikings lost too) and I met a great guy at the game and thank the lord for all my blessings
I never caught the ridiculous comment by Booth re sending off the whole team. Sounds like open bias to me.
Recently in a similar case Sir Awex refused to work with Sky due to biased remarks by ex scouser Thommo.
I wonder if we could follow a similar tact to highlight the ridiculous commentary of Booth on a bi-weekly basis?
I know he is hardly worth it but the wee twat gets ma goat.
BTW keep the FF quotes coming, fair puts a shine on the weekend results.
I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow and agreeing wholeheartedly with them that we are "benefitting" big time, whilst pointing out that given another 130yrs circa of the same then things will have evened out.
Went to Old Trafford yesterday-picked up one of their
biggest selling fanzines-Red Issue.
The editorial was all about the Match at Celtic Park.
Firstly about the fact that between 200 to 300 being locked
out despite holding valid tickets-apparently the same
thing happened in 2006.
They then went on about "the numerous bizarre/misguided/disgraceful
chants of F*** The Pope and the IRA from the United end. Some people
have argued that it was just a wind-up and nothing more but is it really
necessary to take up bigoted loyalist anthems to achieve it?Why not go
the whole hog and hand out songsheets to The Sash?"
The editorial then goes on about other times United fans have disgraced
their club and finishing it off by reciting a tale of United straddling
the divide in Belfast in 1999 by visiting two pubs ,one on the Shanklin Rd
the other in the Falls Rd both of which were United pubs. They then finish off
with the following "Be it for a laugh a wind-up or whatever else the name
Manchester United transcends such pettiness and has no business being
dragged down by sectarianism or bigotry of whatever hue"
From the above and many conversations i have had with United fans it is
clearly evident that all decent United fans were ashamed of many of their
followers at Celtic Park on November 5th.
Re the game today not much to get excited about other than a great winning
goal from Paul Hartley- but these are the type of victories that win you the
league!
Today we were poor and laboured badly, however, I cannot fault the team with the number of players we have had out in recent weeks.
Mr Conroy is getting this and seems to be the FF hate figure every week but what amazes me is how whe the shoe is on the other foot they want, nay demand invesigations into his motives,if indeed such a thing exists. His background, etc should not matter. I have no idea if he man is proCeltic or not. The red card was corect today, the penalty was not but they when we consider the lis of infamy that has aided their cause for over one hundred years I have to laugh in sheer irony. Syme, Bobby how long can I add on Tait, Dallas, Mottram, Waddell,Rowbottam,McCurry, Dougal, Andy bloody penalty for two guys jumping in the air Davis. And these are just the guys you can remember!
I dont want to sound the paranoia drum but that is an impressive list. ALL football fans can cite refs who have done them a disservice but real examinaion of Scottish football history will show that on and off the park one team get more than their fair share of decisions and their intitials aint CFC
There may be decent Man Utd fans but I've never met them. And that quote about "pettiness and bigotry" is simple hogwash. Talk to the fans who sat among them in Manchester, not wearing their colours but were still singled out for all types of abuse.
Last season we went to Lover St and got a FK 25 yards out that Naka put away. TFOD moaned about the decision and quoted that a FK there is like a penalty to Naka.
Need I type out the rest of this post - you know what Im gonna say about the pen today.
Celtic soul brother..bought the red issue at everton-man u game a few years back..was on the back of the hughes testimonial..the rag kept refferring to us as catholic tw*ts continously so previous on that front..
I guess you're right it's just I struggle to think of anyone other than Celtic players who get booked for scoring late winners.
Booth did also say it was a great/good goal or something similar and I suppose his statement about the bookings could have contained a hint of irony it's just I prefer to think he was actually serious and like to believe that he is once again gutted we scored another late winner.
poor performance from us today, but with our circumstances at present the 3 points are all important.
i thought that even the celtic support in general were poor today, very subdued atmosphere. if anything the wee 'tent stand' was best for atmosphere.
with regard to the Green Brigade group banner, this has been upside down now for over a year and is the groups protest over the appointment of John Reid as chairman. as i've mentioned before an ultras group banner is probably the most important thing to the group. so it was a major decision to hang it upside down. it will be upside down as long as Reid is the chairman. it is unusual for a group to have there banner upside down for such a long period of time - sometimes groups do it to show displeasure at their teams performance, their boards performance , maybe a security issue that effects them or any other reason that they are not happy about.
In terms of decent Man Utd fans, there were a couple of old boys sitting up beside us at Celtic Park a couple of weeks ago. They chatted away with us pre-match and half-time, didn't noise us up, took our "don't enjoy it too much" banter in good humour, didn't celebrate their goal, and shook hands with/hugged me and the lads around me, and promised they'd be back up for an SPL game as they were so impressed with the stadium, the team and the fans. If they didn't meet us in Rome first :-)
well said any institution club that think there is a TImmy conspiracy are just plain mental. They air brush last seasons collusions to help them win the league away.
McCurry, Smith,Smith Duffield, Peat, Burley are all culpable in the extension fiasco and the withdrawal of players from a squad who miraculously recovered two days later. That is a fact that they seem to ignore on purpose. It was clear that help was made available to the institution team and a proper medical investigation into those injuries would have been interesing.
I read eejits today again claiming the refs are helping Celtic, utter tosh. If Dougie McDonald had been on his game in the first game against them at CP, Cousin the thug would have walked in the first half before any goals for his assault on Gary Caldwell. After all, people dont normally spew blood out of their head on their own.
I dont think the man is a cheat just a bad ref and unfrunately we have a lot of them in Scotland at the moment.
The victimisation of Eddie Smith and Steve Conroy is a sign of a team whose support is under pressure with a bad away record and an over reliance on certain individuals, in short a typical Walter Smith team. Journeymen with some talented individuals who are sing while you are winning but when pressure is applied they fold as they did in 1998 and 2008.
Could this be the fabled "evening up" of refereeing decisions that we have been told would take place for the last 120 years?
If thats the case then the FF'ers better settle down for a long long run of decisions going Celtic's way.
Could Celtic have made discreet but very real threats to the underlings of Smith and Peat that open displays of ant-Celtic refereeing will in future be tackled head on?
Thought the singing was a bit subdued but obviously with the celts split into that stand and the "gazebo" it wasnt the best for a singalong. We did the fields, let the people sing, Aiden, Soldiers song and a good few others but no BOTOB. I heard a few ooh ah up daras but this was oversung by samaras.
We played a very narrow formation with the right side in particular with only Hinkel driving down and that held him back with no support. Someone on here pointed out that Sheridan needs a proven CF beside him and Shaun is never that - and he looks lazy and playing with his head down right now.
Better when Barry came on at LB and Skoosh and PH battled all day. Massimo didnt shine - never does in a congested midfield.
The big Offion fella gave our CHs the hardest day since 31/8 and I was glad to see him subbed as thought he might nick another
3 points that could go a long way to helping us to 4iar and I say we have plyed better and lost so take the points and work on the performance.
michael collins..get a grip..normal service will be resumed shortly..with dougall and richmond on the crocked list they will be desperate to help the cause when they are fit..and the good reverend must be due to get a game of theres shortly..

I've been watching the Celts for most of the last Century (just) and all of this, let me tell you it'll take decades before the decisions even out, so enjoy, they conned and cheated us for years.
Poor second half from the Vikings today. Interesting 3 way tie for top of the division with the GBFP, The Bears and the mighty Vikes. Another good game from Adrian Peterson and our defense. If we could just get a QB, another Randy Moss and a decent coach.
Was at the Vikings Packers game last week. Despite the local rivalry, the fans mix all over the stadium which makes for a very sterile atmosphere. They have no idea what a real rivalry is. Now $7 for a light beer in the stadium - no thanks.
We were bound to have a nightmare sooner or later. Let's hope that was it. In 5,000 years of watching footie never yet seen 11 guys have it easy against 10 and this was no different. Waited till we got the equiliser then nipped out to cut the grass 'cos you just know nothing's gonna happen for hours. Locked up me shed with 10 mins to go and, what d'ya know, along comes the winner right on cue. Life's good.
The Green Brigade have been hanging their banner upside down for as long as I've been aware of them, at away games, before John Reid set foot in Parkhead.
You're a prick, they are pricks, FULL FRIGGIN STOP!!!!!!!

Crazy thought.

RRC - a big win for the old man today eh? May he rest in peace indeed.

Yo! Hows things?

Does it not inspire confidence and perhaps illustrate the difference between ourselves and rangers, IF,hypothetically we were to receive a 8 figure bid for one of our 'stars' that we could reject the bid out of hand?
Good to see Hartley playing.
His Accies daft grand dad passed away a few weeks before he made his Accies debut as a tricky winger.

hi 53
out of your nest yet
The Hamilton manager has a plan and having three centre halfs and being in the faces of Celtic`s players are key components.
Gordon is looking for the Bhoys to start well. Scott McDonald has been withdrawn from Australia match in midweek. Caddis, Loovens and Samaras on the bench.
Come on Celts!
Skippy will be a miss today as he holds the ball up well making killer passes contributing largely to our recent form so hope we dont miss him too much,C'mon The Mighty!!!!!!

Mon the Hoops?
It took a long time but I feel Hinkel is just strolling through games now and is showing why he has had so many caps for Germany. I am a bit worried about Wilson though, he is playing well in the left back possition, he is playing so good that there are very few posters on here calling for us to buy a left back in January nowadays, if the board catches on to this they will think all is fine and not sanction the money for a new left-back.

10 mins. Hamilton are playing with an incredibly high number of players behind the ball. Space is going to be very tight in advanced areas today.

was thinking that myself
he`s in good company ( so far ) today
their goal seems to have unsettled us a bit
we need someone to take control here
I think we showed up thinking that the three points are in the bag. I think it is a bit strange going to Hamilton and we stack the middle with Hartley, Brown and Donati. We should have more flair players on, Maloney is not a striker. Take Hartley or Donati off move Maloney back to midfield and bring on Sammi.
bournesouprecipe
good! now lets have the call to buy a left-back

Hi pablo how u doing? long time no see
anyone else think the accies goal WAS offside?
There's something about the penalty/red card combo I don't like. Why not award a goal credited to no one and just yellow card the defender, similar to the penalty try in rugby. It ruins the game.

DG - That was my first thought. Couldn't really tell on the replay
Good challenge from Caldwell prevents a likely goal
very poor first half from celtic compared with recent weeks
everything going down our left has caused trouble mark wilson in particular
can only get better. the real prblems are up front here sheridan must feel that he is playing alone
maloney must do better, and the midfield needs to dig in and start getting the ball to the front
men.
Celtic look like they are hungover, it's a bit early for their Crimbo party isn't it.
Danny Gall
I thought so but did not get to see a camera angle that would prove it... Looked like it to me.
Canning knew he had to go off for that. He made a decision to pull Sheridan back outside the box...
Fortunate to get the penalty.
Half time:
Hamilton 1-1 Celtic
Hamilton made more chances and played better for most of the half, Celtic looked laboured.
The Hamilton defence failed to deal with a bouncing through-ball for Sheridan which led to the penalty and sending off, their only mistake so far.
What's the protest about this time?
Oregonbhoy
the accies manager must be surrounded in a sea of spit cos thats all he has done for 45
Maloney hasn't been looking his best for the last few matches and he never performs well as part of a front two.
Donati making nice passes but needs to be more urgent, more involved...
wots his name, billy the grog reid?
well didn't expect this level of performance
accies well up for it trying to make up for their poor performance at celtic part last month
our defence is getting exposed very reminiscent of last year ,
loosing every 50/50 lucky to be level at HT
up until sending off I would have moved brown central as game is passing donati by,
we are away so we need to dig and mo is not up to it , although he is not alone
hopefully they will sit in and we can get our passing game going
predict a 3-1 victory
I hope tae God we rearrange the middle and bring on Mizuno and try and stretch their back line. Donati off would do.
I`d bring Robson on for Donati a bit of drive will be needed in the middle of the park
Hamilton will sit in Donati isn`t really robust enough to push the game forward
Also could consider Sammy or Koki for a bit of pace
Maloney to the left of midfield, Naka Right, Hartley off, Sammi on. 1-3

Positive vibes, positive vibes.
I just saw the accies goal. It is a mile offside but no perma rage from Setanta
HT Hamilton 1-1 Celtic
Butcher seems to be a s unhappy as Booth
re the Accies goal
i think the ball took a deflection off one of our men just as the cross was made
therefore not O/S ..i think otherwise looked off to me
today's under par 1st half performance emphasizes how much scott mcdonald has brought to the team in recent weeks, even when not scoring some of skippy's link up play has been great. A wake up call and reality check to those who were already thinking that the league was in the bag following rangers dropped points mid-week
It is no woiking fur Naka...

Robson should never be out of the Celtic midfield
We should really push on against 10 men but I'm still fearful of more heffing and puffing and a scary run in to the game. Will happily take a scrappy win at the mo. Com on hoops - prove me wrong...
Big Bad John Hartson and Butcher criticized the linesman for not giving a free-kick instead of a penalty but neither one of them thought it was necessary to name the linesman.
Not too keen on the 'Heid' chants when Cauldenbuer gets the ball or has had a chance.

The same conroy who gave us the corner that never was at fir park at the end of last season for a vital sami winner

Poor performance overall today, pass marks only to Hartley and McManus.

Caldwell will also be glad that cousin wont be there on the 27th. Bullied into submission in that game.
We were well on top for most this game. Not the same as recent games and has to be expected given the injury list.
Our cutting edge was missing as Accies went for the point.

It will be a similar game I reckon next week with a more physical approach from the Buddies.

feared the worst when i heard skippy was out, and we missed him badly up front where
maloney was invisible. wilson was poor from the start and its unusual to have to sub your left back

poor passing showed up again, donati doesn't do two good games in a row, so all in all a struggle
but three points well taken.
He says he practices a lot.
Alone!

Don't be fooled!!!
who have the huns got on saturday?
setanta going on about the penalty
the view they keep showing is NOT the one the linesman had
imo his view would have been obscured with the Accies defender coming across his line of vision as the tackle is made ...also Sheridan deserves credit for managing to land in the middle of the box /3-4 yds from the tackle
Anybody else catch how much teh commentator on Setanta was going on about Celtic late goals.
The dobbers watching musy have been sick listening to it, and then we scored.
AYE the Sunday dinners ruined in a few house's and WELL mines will be succulent.

Celtic won, against a stuffy and packed Hamiltonian Defence.
And to win against a Packed defence is no easy at any time, but tae win against a
Stuffy and Packed defence, of a TEN MAN TEAM.... is whit ah call.... not uncommendable.
I am feeling very pleased and content.

At least if McDonald has to play for the Aussie's he won't be heading off as far as he usually does on his international soirée's.

failed them all
Just in and happy with the result
performance wise we played too narrow especially down our right side.
That suited Accies and even when against ten men we played into their game plan.
Shaun was hiding again and Mark Wilson had a bad first half - but no support coming back from Naka
The pen turned the game though as was worried coming to half time a goal down
Well done Broony and hartley - great one two and good finish - is it only our players who get booked for running to our fans to celebrate.
Big Thanks to Eventheolivesarebleeding for the ticket - enjoyed your company too mate.
thirty2one,
Don't do things by halves do you? Or were the halves the problem?
Queue dropping another 2 or 3 home points !
Sorry meant 'cue' not 'queue'
Looks like Hull's young Guinean centre half, Zayatte, has been getting lessons from Bobo in how to defend with the ball at your feet.
chris
cant remember what problem was now but sure 53 will keep me informed
What did Hartley do that got him booked??
Leaving the field is not an automatic booking. The ref has to take into account the circumstances: a player has just scored a late winner in a very difficult match against a former team. Surely a celebration is justified?
I read elsewhere FF's in meltdown, one of the quotes-" Rangers should be on the phone right now making their worries clear as we are clearly being cheated out of this league!" HAPPY DAYS!
Dobbo,
Brown for me as deputy is a no goer.
Gerybhoy
Missed the game due to being at the Notre Dame game yesterday and partking of way too much GM afterwards !!
Enjoy your succelent Sunday lunch and we'll talk pre Wednesday.
It's amazing what a goal does.
Before:
"Slow, pointless short passes to nowhere...dire"
After:
"Careful, patient, focussed short passes to deserved success...champions mentality"
I say hats-off to this injury-ravaged team! 10 wins from 10 games is top stuff in any league any time. Simple as.
Including a period of 4 very demanding (is there any other kind!?) champions league games and league cup progress. 10 for 10 does this bhoy.
One of the head huncho's excuses yesterday for them hanging on at the end was that they've had hundreds of games in 3 weeks! Sure Walter, sure!

Thanks in advance

They are hurting big time. Long may it continue.
Only seen him a couple of times, but i was quite impresssed with Offiong.
Paranoia?
Remember him?

MDBHOY, It was a struggle today, 3 pts for Gerrybhoy on the SPL predictor league.
I'll be travelling Tuesday and Wednesday, i'll get back to you if i miss your call.

Dobbo...
Gus.
Did Rangers not get their own share of luck against the Hammies? Tell these FF fellows to keep that in mind.

The Alba Cup? So even some mickey mouse cup competition can get a sponsor - but Duffield can't find one for the Scottish Cup.
WGS
'their banner' being the banner of the CSC named after the young ARW, God rest him
I've been trying to register for ages........wouldn't take my email address for some reason.......must have been some link to Castle Grayskull......LOL........any way, I'm on now.......Tiocfaidh.......today's game ?? best way to win, really.......gets FF goin'.......great for replacement telly sales !!!!!!!

67 heaven,Ive tried for months to get in,the problem is they dont accept accounts like Yahoo, you know easily set up and anonymous, they ask you to use work related email addressess, thats because none of us Timmies have jobs and if we do theres certainly not a P.C available to us.
don't fancy being a steve conroy or a tom murphy
they could do something silly, like go for a meal and a few drinks.
fatherandbhoy cheers, was watching via the internet and it was not clear when the ball was crossed where the Hamilton striker was
see the centre half debate has started, thats the first goal we have lost in 3 league games , think mick has picked up from some poor early season games , and although today caldwell didn't play as well as recently as a pair they have been doing well
we have won again lets look forward to beating st mirren
Blindlemonchitlin,
It strikes me that the FFers are where we were at pre-1998.

Both our CH struggle when up against a big physical striker. Neither are dominant in the air.
Paul67.
Jinky,
I have been saying that we need a big dminat centre half for ages now to either partnet McMnaus or Caldwell i got panned as recently as last week. I agree 100% with you we need a dminat centre half that can win high balls.
Dossier is it?
They should think very carefully before starting a list of dodgy decisions that help teams.
Well-hoisted on their own petard.
Once I'm up to page 1873 of their 'list' I'll send it to UEFA...not!
WGS
GC and Mick are ok when up against smaller forwards but not big bruisers. Always struggled against Cousin for example.
WGS
The centre half position needs looking at, as do all areas of the team. To not do so would be slack at best! Still a bit upset at Bassa and Vukojevic, hopefully we will have better luck next time.
jinkysboy, you up for the Bears in Green Bay? I'm supporting the Pack tonight.
We really lack an organiser and leader at the back
Follow follow:
"UEFA should look at the dodgy decisions that help Sellick"
Al Capone:
"the government really should start arresting people for tax evasion"

Go Pack go - its like an of game with the greens v their local "rivals" in blue
One concern about FF and other extreme forums is that information on players, managers, match officials is so easy to pass on- as has apparently happened today and in the past
This could snowball and become an orchestrated campaign. In time this will lead to promising up and coming referees/assistants to say "what the hell, I'm not putting me or my families safety in danger- this is not worth it".
This will only leave the zealots and the incompetents officiating at matches.
Then we will have a real problem.
Except the away team are in white! A bit like their second jersey though ...
Have just seen the goals on TV. Many a ref would have given the penalty. Both players ended up well inside the box.
Kojo,
Golden rule of defending was broken for the goal mate. Sorry!! Striker was in between our two centre halves. Could drive a bus between the two of them. Mick got caught going towards the ball and GC did not provide enough cover in behind and was caught. Simple goal!! Some finish from OFFiong though
Gordon_J,
Are you on gamecentre? Is it working for you?
Great to read those FF delusions.

Gordon_J,
CSIAL, I'm using IE7 aand no problems at all.
From a peice reviewing 20 years of Moonbeams.
David Murray: 20 years of soundbites
1988: ‘I am glad a Scottish institution has stayed in Scottish hands. This is the business deal of the year’ - after buying Rangers
1990: ‘I'm past the money thing now, I do it for pride’
1994: ‘I’m not the type who is looking for plaudits. You’ll never see me when the club win anything. But if there’s a crisis or a problem, then that’s my time to step in and put a firm hand on the tiller’
1995: ‘I regard Rangers as a privilege, not a pressure’
1996: ‘Rangers will stand still until this nine-in-a-row thing disappears. It’s like a monkey on our backs’
1997: ‘Celtic have gone public. Many of their fans have stumped up money to buy shares, which in turn has helped to finance the stadium. As a result, I sometimes think their supporters feel greater loyalty to the cause. Rangers fans basically got the stadium for nothing, and some of them have had it too easy for too long’
1998: ‘Dick Advocaat was first choice. He was the only contender and I’m sure he’ll be a major success. It’s a peculiar situation as Walter Smith is still in the job, but this only happened because Walter made it clear that he wanted to step down’
1999: ‘The latest results [£6.3m loss] are disappointing but £6m isn’t even a player these days, is it?’
2000: ‘We’re delighted to get such a high-quality player’ - after breaking the British transfer record to sign Tore Andre Flo for £12m
2001: ‘I like a good fight. I’m Celtic’s problem and their supporters know that. I said if they put down a fiver then I’d put down a tenner to keep Rangers ahead of Celtic. Now it might be 15 quid I’ll need to put down, but I’ll do whatever’s necessary to achieve my aims for Rangers’
2002: ‘Dick and I came to the conclusion that it had to change then and not at the end of the season when Alex McLeish would have been starting cold’
2003: The reason we’ve accumulated [£20m of] debt is we spent money on the basis we had high ambitions. I accept full responsibility’
2004: ‘You get affected by supporter pressure, your own pressure and the chase for success. I invested too much and I was caught out in the cyclical downturn of football’
2005: ‘Alex knows who will be the next manager of Rangers, if he has to go ‘
2006: ‘This is a world football story. I don’t need to build Paul Le Guen up with tags because he will do it himself with his actions’
2007: ‘Paul and I felt this was the time to make a change, he was an honourable man. I don’t want to dig up Le Guen but it was results-driven. Sometimes when you are in a hole you stop digging’
2008: ‘Yes, 1972 was remarkable. But I think when you take the financial parameters into it this time [reaching the Uefa Cup final] is more so’
My dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear,dear, dear, friend...
Still... It seems tae me....
Ach...
Fuggetttttttttttabooit.

CSIAL, Dolphins up in Miami, so you could be right!
RRC THANKS very much for that photo i think it was about 1963 GORDON your the man iwould bet anyone you could name every one
Reading more FF offerings they sure know how to turn a terrible 1-2 win in Hamilton into a thing of great beauty.
Kojo,
Watch it when the ball get first played in.
WGS
if I may pop in without reading back.
It was a terrific finish.
Thought the boy had great game.
WDH
he led the line well as a lone striker. And although it was up the other end it looked a great finish and sure TV will show that
Hey we lost a goal - shocker. We won the game and thats what matters.
How many times should we have won and not (Aalborg - ICT last year)
Eventheolivesarebleeding
Cheers again for the ticket today
I enjoyed your company as much as the match.
Keep the faith

But in a perverse way it's really funny and satisfying as he represents their pain and frustration, here's to 4 in a row and more biased comments.

kojo and another thing would the speculative desires expressed by other posters regarding michael owen not contravene at least one of your golden rules not withstanding that we dinnae have the money to pay his salary.
God Save the West of Scotland!

dairybhoy,
The Broncos are down 13-7 to Atlanta at HT and surprisingly my Raiders are making a game of it in Miami.
Unew,
I think Sylvinho might be using us to draw up interest.
CSIAL,
7 - 5 Dolphins! Unusual score following a safety.
Gordon_J,
Aye. And we're driving into Miami territory again. Pity our offense and in particular, our red zone offense, stink to high heaven.
WGS agree on the silvinhyo issue and noted that he self publicised his wish to play for celtic in the immediate aftermath of our excellent 1-1 draw with man united when the magnificent celtic park atmosphere was the talk of the steamie
45yd field goal to surge ahead. :P
Oops - missed!
Hits the right upright. No good!
Watch us capitulate now.
Regarding the Barca connection, I think there are other players GS and PL would prefer to have from them than Sylvinho but you never can tell.
Sutty,
If it was me i would go Jeffren Suarez. Flying winger who would destroy the entire SPL.
ItaliaBhoy,
Next they'll be telling us that the Daily Record is pro Celtic.

Roma 0 Lazio 0 End of first quarter.
WGS,
I agree. I think he'd be a great addition to the squad but it would be at the expense of either McCourt's or Mizuno's development.
From the brief glimpses of both I'd say Mizuno looks to be ahead at the minute.
More often than not the lapses can be attributed to the persistent weaknesses in our left flank and on more than one occaision mcmanus and caldwell are caught out of position when covering for the left back
The Rome derby.
Another game I'd love to attend. Not sure I'd find travel insurance to incorporate it though. :P
There used to be an advertisement from a company in World Soccer every month that did football match packages for most of the big leagues but I can't for the life of me remember their name.
24 - 3 Green Bay. Looks like game over.
Sutty,
I love Aiden McGeady hope he remains at the club for many years. However, what happens if a double figure bid comes in for the wee man from an EPL side. Celtic face a dilemma.
I'l'l have the tin hat on here but i reckon Celtic would accept especially if they could get a simliar player like Suraez in for the same price as Crosas.
chris sutton is a legend
The World Soccer packages have a huge mark-up. For a Rome or Milan match, they charge at least £400. considering you should be able to get a flight for £100, 2 nights hotel for £100 all in (sharing) and a match ticket for about £30, I wouldn't bother. Unless you're so rich, that saving £200 is no big deal or so naive that you need your hand held all the time. I would imagine you're neither!

So, Celtic decided to come for him in the Jan window.

WGS,
No way Barca would sell Jeffren.

Well said. Hamilton did play well and their goal was a good goal. However, there was a better goal in the game.
Paul Hartley's goal was worthy of winning any game.

Great opportunity for Barça to open up a wee gap with Real Madrid losing to the mighty Pucela, Valencia losing to Sporting at home and Villarreal drawing with Málaga.

Yes Hartley's goal was a cracker. Composed finishing and great awareness. Someone less experienced may have rushed and hit it first time.
Their keeper had a great save from Sammi too
Anyone got a link for the goals today
chris sutton is a legend
Good choices there. I left it late and had to go for Roma wasnt enoug games. 1-0 70 Minutes.
Did anyone catch Booths expert analysis of our winning goal today.......

Messi goal.
evening all..just in..only thing to be said about today was that we won..workmanlike performance but way off the flowing stuff that has been in evidence recently..not surprised to see FF trying to smear mr.conroy, after all the laptop loyal tried to do it before the game at motherwell last season..all sadly predictable as is the gutter press reaction to it all the morra..
Joe Parkhead...
Your welcome.
I am sure that the shamrock strip photograph posted by RRC (thanks) dates back to 1962.
Pat Crerand is in the front row and he left Celtic in February 1963.
Also, the player second from the left in the back row, John Veitch, only joined (from Kilsyth Rangers)in 1962 and was freed in 1963.
The bench in Seville was Hedman, McNamara, Maloney, Laursen, Sylla, Smith, Fernandez.
Hail! Hail!
Beechbhoy
More interesting things about Huelva.
3. Recre play in green and white.

I certainly am, glad you liked my review.

I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow and agreeing wholeheartedly with them that we are "benefitting" big time, whilst pointing out that given another 130yrs circa of the same then things will have evened out.
larssonSE7EN
It was a pleasure to meet you last week too and hopefully will meet again (maybe the ICT game in the club before or after match)
Re the game today not much to get excited about other than a great winning
goal from Paul Hartley- but these are the type of victories that win you the
league!
Recre hit the post.
Header from a corner.
Estadio,
Hope Roma hang on. Must have got reasonable odds for them considering the form of both teams.
Celtic Soul Brother
What I've heard from Manchester United fans was that the chants about the Pope came at the end when they were being kept in.
Whom were they meant to be winding up?
also, I would just like to add,
I listened intently today and there was definitely no singing about the old boys brigade.
Never did trust them anyway with all their bugles and drums and marching and uniforms and flags and such.
ScoutsjamboreeCSC,

Thierry Henry hits the crossbar.
Still 0-1. About 20 minutes to go.
Celtic Soul Brother.
There may be decent Man Utd fans but I've never met them. And that quote about "pettiness and bigotry" is simple hogwash. Talk to the fans who sat among them in Manchester, not wearing their colours but were still singled out for all types of abuse.
They're a bad lot.
A pox on them.
Refs and moaners
Last season we went to Lover St and got a FK 25 yards out that Naka put away. TFOD moaned about the decision and quoted that a FK there is like a penalty to Naka.
Need I type out the rest of this post - you know what Im gonna say about the pen today.
Rangers paranoia is true paranoia and at its delusional best. Hundamentalists.
Our 'paranoia' is not, its suspicion based on facts.
Chris sutton is a legend
5/4 a good reason given in The Racing and Football Outlook paper. Braga 1-0 up, all the best.

Great knowledge, do you stay in Spain?
Ive read the book Morbo which is full of stories about the histories of the significant clubs, great read.
Celtic soul brother..bought the red issue at everton-man u game a few years back..was on the back of the hughes testimonial..the rag kept refferring to us as catholic tw*ts continously so previous on that front..
Eight minutes to go.
Still 0-1 for Barcelona.

I left Spain, physically, after 13 years in 1993. Spiritually, I am still there.
Thierry Henry hits the post.

Bordeaux have pulled one back in the 81st minute. 2-1 Lyon with 8mins to go
Good call on Roma Estadio. I didn't have big enough kahoona's to go for them.
Henry crosses, Eto'o touch and Keita makes it 0-2.
anyone got a link to today's highlights?
Barca surely safe now. 2nd goal in the 85th minute - Keita.
poor performance from us today, but with our circumstances at present the 3 points are all important.
i thought that even the celtic support in general were poor today, very subdued atmosphere. if anything the wee 'tent stand' was best for atmosphere.
with regard to the Green Brigade group banner, this has been upside down now for over a year and is the groups protest over the appointment of John Reid as chairman. as i've mentioned before an ultras group banner is probably the most important thing to the group. so it was a major decision to hang it upside down. it will be upside down as long as Reid is the chairman. it is unusual for a group to have there banner upside down for such a long period of time - sometimes groups do it to show displeasure at their teams performance, their boards performance , maybe a security issue that effects them or any other reason that they are not happy about.

I love the limited places Ive been, Bilbao and Valencia are in my top two for my next visit.

Of course he was absolutely gutted about it, that made it somewhat more pleasing for me! Can't stand the man.
Dangerous free-kick for Barcelona. Bad foul by Beto on Messi. Yellow card. Shouts for a red.
Estadio Nacional
well said any institution club that think there is a TImmy conspiracy are just plain mental.
Bojan hits the bar with a header from the free-kick.
Full-time. 0-2.
Wee recovery coupon up.

That's nine wins on the spin for Barcelona. They're clearly almost as good as Celtic.

I was in the stand Section N near the back.
Steve Conroy didn't openly favour Celtic today; 99 refs out of 100 would have given a penalty.

When the ref ran across he dealt with their player first and didnt point to the spot until after he was walking.
He had plenty of time to make his decision - I would reckon over a minute from tackle to pointing to the spot.
To quote TFOD in history to me " It was a penalty cos the ref gave it so stop moaning ya paranoid $!++$*"
new article posted.
Nice one Estadio.
All my other coupons bit the dust this weekend.
Udinese result was a kick in the Naka's for my Serie A coupon.
I liked Gordon Strachan's reply to the idiot Setenta question: "Did you think the penalty was a turning point?"
"Well, it had something to do with it. We scored."
Thanks to the olives for the tickets. We had a great time.
MATCH REPORT
"An awful game mostly due to Celtic's inability to go beyond the Hamilton defence and to pass the ball well."

UTLR AT 9.45PM,
The Green Brigade have been hanging their banner upside down for as long as I've been aware of them, at away games, before John Reid set foot in Parkhead.
You're a prick, they are pricks, FULL FRIGGIN STOP!!!!!!!
