Or to put it succinctly 'ye cannae put in whit god left oot'

Fabregas scores solo goal ala Paddy McCourt

I havent posted in a while.

Here are my thoughts for what they are worth.

Still early days in the Mowbry reign and he deserves time and support.

The players are very short on confidence , playing as individuals not as a team.

Things will settle down and definitley improve.

3 or 4 players now realise they havent got it and will be moving on.

The board have got the strategy right , it is the players who are under performing not the board.

From last thread

The spend of £10-£13million will put us in debt but it might fill the stadium and it might give us entertaining football. Faiure to spend decent money - I'm not saying that we need to spend £13million - will ensure a further drop in the sales of season tickets which will prove catastrophic. It will also endure that we don't have CL money causing a further negative impavt on the balance sheet.

In the absence of a 'half baked plan' to go into debt, perhaps you can enlighten us as to how we can improve the product and make it attractive to fans who want to support the team but aren't faithful through and through.

Sadiesbhoy,
Like yourself, vmhan and many others I'm not there today either. I could have gone but decided against it. The worrying thing for me is that I'm not missing it. For the first time ever - ever - I'm actually thinking "can I be bothered?"

Never thought I'd ever feel like that.

Tuned into RS though. What'm I like?

On another point - discussion towards the end of the last thread. Fabregas is after scoring the type of goal I'd expect Aiden to score.

From last thread....

The Lenten Visitor

Yeah, the more I think about it, the 'logical' conclusion I come to is Rangers should end up on a par with the rest of the scottish SPL teams for a few years, like we were in the years leading up to McCann, and eventually they will get back, like we did.

However, I still feel the establishment will do what they can to avoid this. No one helped Leeds on their way down (why should they?) and the FL seemed to put the boot in with the arbitrary 15 point deduction before they kicked off their first season in League 1. No-one outside Leeds Utd had any sympathy for them though cos they had run up the debts themselves and shafted a few others when wriggling out of the debts. Compare this to the reaction in Scotland - the media commentators are blaming the bank and an MP is lobbying the bank to go easy on them. Leeds had to sell the training ground, would you be mega surprised if the SFA bought Murray Park and let Rangers use it for free as long as the national team could train there 6 times a year? Could you see the SFA/SFL/SPL really sanctioning Rangers by deducting points if they could somehow avoid it - or waiting to see if it costs them a European place or something. And of course the refs can always try to ensure they get points when they need them!!

It may be a symptom of my formative years being in the late 80s/early 90s but I just have this nagging feeling they won't get the comeuppance they deserve. Like how they spawn the easiest draw in EVERY SINGLE cup draw they are in.

Another opportunity to put some pressure on Rangers today. I'd like to see Robson and Crosas tried in the middle. Of all our midfielders Crosas moves the ball on well and Robson has that bit of dig required. I'd then look for ZZ and McGeady to provide the creativity.

Worried at the back, I can see Kyle winning a load of headers.

Up front McDonald and Samaras, their the best we have....

fortune ready for hoops comeback

David Friel
TONY MOWBRAY will welcome Marc-Antoine Fortune back into his squad as Celtic try to extend their SPL advantage to four points when they take on Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The big-money summer signing has been out injured since late August but featured in a 3-2 bounce game win over Newcastle United this week and is expected to play some part of the match against Killie.

Signed from AS Nancy, Fortune was beginning to find his feet at Celtic when a knee injury ruled him out for the best part of nine weeks. Now he is ready to return.

“There will be more competition for places this weekend,” said Mowbray. “Fortune will be involved and he will add to the competition up front.

“To be fair, I thought the two strikers (Scott McDonald and Georgios Samaras) made an impact when they came on against Hearts. I want all the players to be hungry and I want competition for all of them.

“With Fortune’s injury, we have been lacking that a bit and have really been working with just three strikers in Georgios, Scott and Chris Killen. We’ve just had three games, so it’s not been easy to keep them all fresh and win matches.”

Artur Boruc and Scott Brown will both miss the Killie game through injury, but neither has been ruled out of the Hamburg game next Thursday. “That’s six days away, so we will wait and see how they are,” said Mowbray.

And what of Kilmarnock? Jim Jefferies’ side beat St Johnstone 2-1 last week and have had an indifferent start to the season, but Mowbray doesn’t expect an easy afternoon.

He said: “Kilmarnock will make it difficult for us. They are dangerous opponents and we will treat them with the respect we give everybody. However, the aim is to win the game and move four points clear.”

Mowbray will give a late fitness test to Shaun Maloney before deciding on his line-up.

Soccer A.M.

An observation from this morning's programme on which the Rangers fans appeared. It's normal practice for the fans to stand up each time they are intoduced and give a little rendition of a song they sing in support of their team. However, this morning any time I saw them introduced they merely stood up and clapped, didn't sing any of their songs. Could there be a reason for this???

Hail! Hail!

Yes Kojo I do wonder about Aiden at times. If coaching him I would demand he draw in players and then move the ball smartly. There was one occasion on Wednesday when Aiden played a one two with Andy Hinkel and produced great chance. Unfortunately it was a one off. Later Aiden put through a brilliant ball for Samaras. These moves just do not happen enough.

Maybe Aiden does not listen or just thinks he knows it all.

greensideup

Thanks for the posting that article.

This says it all for me about Celtic:-

"If you play for Celtic you can't just shrug your shoulders and walk away when times are bad." added Henrik. "The club means too much to too many people to have the luxury of doing that."

You've hit the nail smack on the head when you say 'I'm not missing it' - neither am I and it is worrying. Going to a game takes about 5 hours out of my day and I actually feel quite tired after it especially midweek games. People like yourself are talking about more than a day and much more expense. I've reached an age where I'm asking myself if it is worth it when I don't feel that I've been entertained. I've never missed so many games in one year as I have in 2009 and I've paid £575 for my season ticket. I don't think I'm an extremist in my views but I think a lot of people are feeling the same.

It would be cheaper to buy Rankers than Van Persie.

Paddy starts.

CCeltic v Kilmarnock

Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League
Venue: Celtic Park Date: Saturday 31 October Kick-off: 1500 GMT
Coverage: BBC Sport website

Striker Marc-Antoine Fortune is added to the Celtic squad after recovering from a knee injury.

Goalkeeper Artur Boruc and midfielder Scott Brown are both out. Midfielder Shaun Maloney has tendonitis and captain Stephen McManus is suspended.

Kilmarnock will have Cameron Bell in goal with on-loan keeper Mark Brown unable to face his employers.

Ryan O'Leary returns after recovering from the knock which kept him out of last week's win over St Johnstone.

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray:
"Fortune is back and he will create competition.

"Artur or Scott will not be ready for the weekend. We will need to see about the game against Hamburg next week.

"Scott still has the same problem. He had been running clear, but one tackle or a twist and he is back to where he was.

"Hamilton gave us a difficult game last week, Hearts were resolute in midweek, and Kilmarnock will prove no different."

Kilmarnock goalkeeper Cameron Bell:
"This is a great chance for me. It's a big stage playing at Parkhead.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the team and hopefully I can do myself justice and play well and keep myself in the team."

"They have gone through a sticky patch, but Celtic are a good team, with good players.

"We just need to go there and concentrate on ourselves and try to pick up some points."

Lurgan 53,

Just read your response to my contribution about Fergus McCann. Many thanks. I completely agree about your comments on Brian Quinn. I was present on both occasions and felt the same shame. I just thought earlier that my comments should be confined to Fergus, since it was to him Glenn Gibbons was referring.

By the way, to all those who still seem to want to criticise Fergus McCann based on perceived failings he has a human being, e.g. it is suggested that he only became involved because he wanted to make piles of money, I have never met him. I cannot judge him. I see him as a great mhan in our history because he is. Like it or not, he saved Celtic. For that, I for one will always be grateful.

Once again, I don't want to tempt fate, but I do fear someone is going to take a right drubbing off us sometime soon....

Hopefully today!

I hope I will regret not going today if we beat Killie well. The last few games have been a nightmare and I honestly can't see it getting any better under TM.I don't think he has a clue what team to select.Hope I'am wrong.

I like the look of Crosas and N'Guemo in the middle, but they're gonna have to have their running boots on with Paddy and Bob Crampsey either side, which is a reference to Kojo's posts earlier, who's not wrong.

TBB

Not happy with that line-up at all.

Mcdonald and Samaras doesn't work.

Do you not think its due to Maloney being injured rather than a realisation that he should start games?

Cheers, sums it up for me when he talks about our great club.

I know it must be frustrating for those who shell out hard earned dosh to go to the games, I because of location don't have the opportunity, but it is in times like these that we have to remember "we are Celtic supporters faithful through and through" rally round our manager and the club.

I for one think today could be a turning point. We can send Jim Jeffries home with the same face he arrived with.

anyone listening to the drivel on radio scotland about our "collective" debt problem in scottish football?

Interesting team selection..

I thought Crosas/Nguemo combination was quietly effective during the week, not our worst area. Goncalves at the back had a stormer IMO, and Christian Fatty up front terrorised our two "centre-halves".

The only thing I'm sceptical of is McCourt playing on the wing, where I don't think he can influence the game as heavily as he would if he were playing through the middle - a la St. Mirren.

It's hard to judge him properly, but I feel the beating the man and cutting inside may become predictable, as he is limited to where he can go from this position. In the middle of the park he has the freedom to roam the whole middle-to-front area and his movement would make him near to unplayable if he hit top form, but I fear he could be caught out playing in the wide position.

Feel free to disagree, I'm doing it even as I type!

team news: celtic v kilmarnock

Gregor Kyle
GLENN Loovens returns to the heart of the Celtic defence alongside Gary Caldwell today, with Stephen McManus suspended after his midweek red card.

Tony Mowbray has also given a starting place to Paddy McCourt, who lines up on the left of a four-man midfield with Aiden McGeady, Landry NGuemo and Marc Crosas.

Georgios Samaras partners Scott McDonald in attack, with Marc Antoine Fortune on the bench alongside Dominic Cervi, Zheng Zhi and Josh Thompson.

FULL CELTIC TEAM:

Zaluska; Hinkel, Caldwell, Loovens, Fox; McGeady, NGuemo, Crosas, McCourt; Samaras, McDonald.
Subs: Cervi, Zheng, Fortune, Caddis, Thompson, Naylor, Robson.

Mort

No one in the media really konws about the short or long term debt situ at ibrox.

Re today I remain concerned that we are top of the league and yet seem hell bent, as a crowd, on 'imploding' and 'self destructing' in the way we did last season whiclst our rivals went on to claim the only prize which matters.

It astounds me to see the ignorance of many, even on a great site like this, on the finacnial realities of football. It really annoys me to see this ignorance being played out to beat our club with whilst our opponents accept their financial challenges and galvanise to make the most of their lot.

Our 'ignorants' prefer to align with a ever eager media in generating and maximising the disharmoney which could well see another trawl through a diminishing number of potential managers for what must be one of the least appealing jobs in European Football....Jesus Gil 'eat your heart out' ....

I sincerely hope that Tony gets the result he deserves today to buy some time as we consolidate at the top of the SPL.....if that is not too ironic !

- i think so too. i think there's been a slow and steady improvement over the last couple of months, and we're creating more chances per game each time we play.
if/when we start taking them we'll give someone a spanking. just shows the need for a clinical striker.

we need an EARLY GOAL. can anyone tell me how many early goals we've had this season?
have we even scored that many goals in the 1st half? particularly at home.
there's a number of home games where if we'd got any early goal we'd have had a much more comfortable game.

up_over_goal on October 31, 2009 2:05 PM

Post your team before kick off

Any reason for Robson not starting?

McGrain

mcgraininspain

Robson in his interview said he was coming back from a long lay off and the manager would use players when he needed them.

I like Robson, glad he is on the bench.

McGrain

Squad rotation is all I can think of as he's on the bench. I've not seen Kilmarnock this season, so don't know what their midfield play like, Mowbray might just think the creativity and passing ability of Crosas may be more suited that Robson's dig.

Personally I'd have Robson and Crosas - with the new Makalele on the bench.

And Scott Brown chained to his sofa.

Hail-Hail!

Does anyone know how our on loan strikers Hutchinson and sheridan are doing

Very weak looking side today. Don't know anything about Kilmarnock but if they have a strong midfield they will overrun us there. N'Guemo, Crosas, McCourt, McGeady - All skillful players but no leadership and not a lot of goal threat.

I guess Robson rested for Hamburg?

Away to listen to the match on Radio Rangers (sorry I mean Scotland). As I said before I hope I regret not useing my season ticket today.
Come on the Hoops pleeeeeese

Sheridan (Plymouth) has played 5 (7 as sub) and is yet to score.

Hutchinson (Swindon) has played 6 (2 as sub) and scored 1 goal.

Neither is the answer.

sheridan 0 in 9

can't comment on their performance though i saw a brief glimpse hutchinson for swindon where he showed the kind of pace our other strikers lack (maybe excluding samaras).

Cheers heid

Yea I've noticed that mate although the first time I seen £25mill was on CQN a week ago, in any case its only the debt owing to one organisation, the total debt is another matter.

Burnley'78 on October 31, 2009 2:32 PM
"ignorants" Thats a shocking post which reeks of snobbery and devisiveness, most of the CQN'ers who are unhappy at the boards strategy actually want them to support the manager, Tony Mowbray if successful will succeed in spite of the boards downsizing.

Back Tony Mowbray is the way to improve the quality of the team, an experienced CH and confident/ experienced striker is all thats needed.

What a ball again from Paddy to Samaras. We are playing really well today. Season starts this afternoon.

great save from McDonald shot

Point blank save from the keeper from Skippy. Good move

I'm loving this - with a kind wind we could get a few to-day. Paddy and Aiden are pulling them all over the place - big Sami not to bad either.

Sammy is trying hard to get Skippy a goal today

Watching online with a very stagey feed but we look like we're playing really well.

But this all just confirms what I've thought from the start of the season - McDonald just isn't good enough - no pace and little skill.

He is the weakest link and a better, more mobile striker would have got on the end of a lot of good balls from Samaras, he should have had 2 or 3 already.

Sammi 2 - 0

I said earlier i my post I was well pleased with the line up, I would only change macdonald for fortune.

HT Celtic 2-0 Kilmarnock

ENTERTAINING performance from Celtic in the first half. It's been a long time since we have been able to say that. Paddy and Aiden are getting lot's of room in the middle, Sammy finding space in there also and we are creating chances.

Paddy has played well. His distribution is excellent - it would be nice to see him get on the score sheet. The only disappointment for me is McDonald once again. He takes up the wrong positions and generally disrupts our forward play. Let's get him off and get Maloney in there (if he is on the bench).

Defensively we have had little to do. Fox and Hinkel are our best full-backs. I hope they are able to stay free of injury for the rest of the season.

I too lost the feed but looks to me like our much maligned talents of McGeady and McCourt are playing well and at the heart of what was a better performance so far.

Skippy very quiet. Sammmy having some nice runs and playing some nice footie. You still watch him with your fingers crossed mind.

Midfield living up to its quietly efficient billing.

Defence looks dodgy when under pressure - que sera?

Yes...
More of the same please...especially from entertaining Paddy McCourt and the Celtic daft Aiden McGeady.

McDonald quieter than others but at least he is talking to Samaras...

More goals please. This team need it...

EN

Cheers.

Fresh pot of coffee on for second half.

Expect to see MAF get a run out...come on BTM...he'll make the runs Skippy isnae

Midfield I'm loving....so happy Crosas is getting a run

Agree everything played to our center-halfs makes you cringe with impending doom....

Hail Hail

iraq goals. Hopefully this won't get Paul into trouble as it is not a link.

I agreed with their goals but not their methods
Oops sorry didnt see the Q at the end of that "iraq goals"

Chance for Kyle = cross missed by heid

moving half time video on bring martin home, well done whoever put it together.

anybody else watching the tv thats gone down?

Killmarnock a bit more purposeful so far this half. We have yet to get going. Another chance for Kyle there as our defence fail to cope with a high ball into the box.

Clash of heads between Kyle and Loovens. Both getting treatment

Now is the time to make a change - not wait another 15 mins

omigod in 'shocking' developments Maurice Ross is sent off at Aberdeen

Great ball from Sammy to Aiden through the middle but Aiden got crowded out. Good chance though

Kyle between our CBs again - terrible defending

Paddy finally gets on the ball and wins us a corner

We are now starting to press forward again

Killie players goes in over the top on Fox. That was a bad foul - both linesman and ref missed it

We're playing well this afternoon. Now, as energy levels start to drop, here's hoping we can stay solid and control the game.

I'm wondering if there's a few around who spouted their irrational apocalyptic nonsense during the week who are shamefully coveting a Killie goal just to 'validate' their ongoing pessimism?

Sammi playing like a man with a point to prove.

And he has...

Fox limps off - hopefully he is ok

Fox back on trying to run off that knock

Fortune to come on. Please take off Skippy ......

Dickson Choto

Skippy off Fortune on
Paddy off Niall McGinn on

Big MAf on. Now let's see some action.

JVOH fails to take his place in former celts scoring today as he is subbed at turf moor

McGinn on for Paddy
Fortune on for Skippy

McGeady booked for diving AND IT IS CORRECT

Prime position, bases loaded and Aiden takes a crappy dive six yards out. Fool. Someday he's got to learn to think as fast as his feet...

Aberdeen down to 9 men and still holding Hibs 0-0.

Stupid dive from McGeady, he had a decent chance to score if he stayed on his feet.

It's nice that BTM can hear pleas from thousands of miles away...show us yer back MAF!

That was not a dive - he was blocked. It would have been a soft penalty but he should not be booked for that

Aiden dived, don't know why, he had his man beaten. I don't like to see this carry on !

Who will play in the box?

Sammy and Fortune both like to spend too much time outside the box.

vancelticbhoy - don't you relaise BTM is linked up to this blog from the dugout? ;)

Boro 1 down at home to Plymouth. Not a good start for WGS

Roy Keane's Ipswich 1-0 up against my Derby

Good move between N'Guemo and Sammy but Sammy pulls his shot wide

Header from carthorse kyle, Zaluska looks sharp with his positioning and hands, makes it look easy but good alert keeping.

Shot from Aiden saved. Our finishing has been poor this half

mcginn is listed on bbc site as a sub

N'Guemo has had a decent game today. Crosas has dissappeared second half

Sandman

LoL....I speak Yorkshire with a Canadian twang...we still manage to communicate thou...

Rafa takes Torres off and now Fulham have taken the lead 2-1

From my view on Channel67, it looks like Aiden was "body checked" by the Killie defender in the box, knocking him over, not a dive.

Great banner with the grim reaper and a cracked rangers badge beside it 'tic tock, tic tock...'

Superb banner there highlighting the troubles on the other side of the City :)

Goal 3 - 0

A bullet from wee McGinn
3 - 0

Eddie Munster gets his halloween goal.

view from behind the goal showed McGeady clearly dived.

Delighted for Tony after the crap he has had to put up with by so called Celtic fans

3-0 McGinn

GGGGOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLISSSIMOOOO...

Terrific burst into the box by McGinndown the inside-right channel, gets a neat ball slipped into his path by aiden, takes it in his stride and crashes it across the keeper into the bottom left corner from 12 yards.

Game over.

jeez I go to the toilet and we finally make it 3-0

great ball, perfect pace, from Hinkel to McGinn for the 3rd

great wee run by fortune, space created for mcginn to score.
Take note skippy!!!

Once again Herr Hinkel creates a goal. Perfectly weighted ball into space for McGinn to run onto. One touch to control it and a bullet right foot shot into the corner.

I agree with mncelt...would have been a soft penalty but harsh yellow

Liverpool down to 10 men now. Oh dear

Ange, does it once More..what an assister!

Man of the Match..by a mile!

McGinn says.. Thanks, Mate.

And Blasts and unsaveable shot into the Ingen Back..

Great Play by McGinn!

Goooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaal!

Kojo.. noo.. Deliriously.. Happy!

Did anyone see how Fortune dragged the defender oout of the road to free McGinn for his goal?

ZZ coming on for the last 10

NotTheBus

I'm delighted for the board,Tony, the team ,and the Celtic support ,after the crap we have all had to put up with.

The fans have a right to complain a the the standard of fitba we have been watching.

Lets hope that this is the start of a great run of results for us.

C'mon Dundee Utd.

Good effort from Aiden palmed away for a corner. His last touch today as he is replaced by ZZ

Carragher been sent of for Liverpool now
its red card central today

Hinkel plays in Fortune but saved by keeper. Fortune is causing Killie lots of problems

Its amazing the amount of times Samaras picks up the ball on the wing and deep, hes not one for hanging on the last defender.

Sammi gets C67 MOM. He has done well but Hinkel has been outstanding

multiple misses

Tinytim how are your ticket sales for tonight?

Tiny tim

I agree, everyone has the right to complain, but some of the posts have been ridiculous.

As someone said recently, compare Tonys first 3 months in the job with Tommy Burns (rest his soul)

Check out the negativity on his team selection today for example.

I dont suppose we will see a retraction from these guys will we.

What a ball from Hinkel to McGinn there. We should have scored

What a game by Sammi....brilliant and pish in equal measure! :o)

Quite incredible scramble with young McGinn having two cracks at it, then Zheng takes on and beatsd their keeper, two defenders the ball boys and the front row of the Jock stein before some goon blocks his shot off the line.

Corner comes in and Sammi's header scooped out from under the bar.

It's shooty-in!

We are finishing strong today

Thanks for the updates guys, most enjoyable. Onse small step for Celtic, one giant step for Tony . . .

notthebus - I apologise for being negative about the team selection today :) The Bhoys have done good

Celtic 3 Kilmarnock 0

Celtic 3 - 0 Kilmarnock

Celtic answered criticism of their home form with a comprehensive win over Kilmarnock in the league.

It took the hosts just 13 minutes to go in front through Aiden McGeady's goal from a tight angle.

Georgios Samaras bulleted a header past Cameron Bell shortly after the half-hour mark from Andreas Hinkel's cross.

Kilmarnock's Kevin Kyle was off target from three headers, before substitute Niall McGinn scored his first goal for Celtic with 12 minutes remaining.

Celtic looked eager to put on a good show and made a whirlwind start, with Pat McCourt, Samaras and Scott McDonald all looking lively.

The Australian striker tested Bell in the Kilmarnock goal within the first 60 seconds with an opportune flick off Andreas Hinkel's cross.

And Celtic's sustained pressure paid off on 13 minutes as they got their first goal in four games at home.

McCourt drove inside from the left, his shot was deflected across the box to McGeady, who jinked past Craig Bryson to lash a fierce shot in off the far post from a tight angle.

McCourt made Bell save low soon afterwards, then ran past three players before sending another shot two yards wide.

Bell, making just his third appearance of the season, was alert to produce a fine reflex save when McDonald diverted Samaras' pacy cross goalward from close range.

But it wasn't long before the keeper was beaten again with a wonderful move on 32 minutes, which culminated in Hinkel picking out Samaras in the box, and the Greek striker powered a header high into the net from nine yards.

Just before half-time Kilmarnock's Kevin Kyle had a wonderful chance to get his team back in the game.

However, the big striker was badly off target with his header despite being just three yards from goal.

Killie looked more confident at the resumption of play after they had reverted to a more familiar 4-42 formation.

Kyle was presented with two free headers, but could not keep either effort down.

The home side were unable dominate as they did in the first half, although McGeady made Bell stop well with a low shot from the edge of the box, before he was booked for simulation.

Jamie Hamill tried his luck from outside the box for Killie, but after nutmegging Landry N'Guemo beautifully his shot was wayward.

But Celtic got the crucial third goal with a fine strike by McGinn, which sped past Bell from just inside the box, and Zheng Zhi and Samaras both had efforts cleared off the line in the closing stages.

hail hail

All over. 3-0.

Great performance, 3 great goals, a dozen other chances made.

Not good enough, sack the board, manager, ball boys, tea wimmen, cleaners and anyone else who doesn't like a damn good spoilt-wean whine about every little thing of every little day that doesn't go just the way their Mammy always promised them it would...

Once people start understanding the 10 minutes of consideration a day that they give to their team can never match the 24 hour tornado the manager is caught in attemtping to revamp the squad and style, then their constant negativity might be warranted.

But it's not, right now in history. The Huns bleated like the mad cattle they are and Le Goon got hoofed only months into his attempt to modernise them.

God forbid we go the same way.

But today, no-one can complain. Or can they?...

TinyTim brilliant news. The amount of work that all of you guys have put in has been exceptional. Hope you all have a grreat time.

Great result!

Boy, was I wrong!

I've never liked the taste of runny egg,

BUT... a Celtic victory is a good sweetener!

Sounds like all the goals were crackers (yep, I love labouring metaphors!).

Would love to see Aiden score a similar one on Thursday - who knows, he may even make me a Mcgeadyista.

Happy!

Good Evening, Scotland~

Great game by Heinkel. MOM.
Also Nguemo and McGeady., but the diving has to stop.
Sammi had a good game, running from deep.
Only black mark for me was the central defence. They were second in the air to most of the Killie crosses.
Anyway, a great come back from our recent bad spell.

Be carefull ya bollix!

I'm dressing up the night. AND I'm round your way!

Be afraid! Be very afraid!

Holy Willie's Prayer

O Thou, that in the heavens does dwell,
As it pleases best Thysel',
Sends aen to Heaven an' ten to Hell,
For Thy glory,
And no for onie or ill
They've done afore Thee!

I bless and praise Thy matchless might,
When thousands Thou hast left in night,
That I am here afore Thy sight,
For gifts an' grace
A burning and a shining light
To a' this place.

What was I, or my generation,
That I should get sic exaltation?
I wha deserv'd most just damnation
For broken laws,
Six thousand years 'ere my creation,
Thro' Adam's cause.

When from my mither's womb I fell,
Thou might hae plung'd me deep in hell,
To gnash my gums, and weep and wail,
In burnin lakes,
Where damned devils roar and yell,
Chain'd to their stakes.

Yet I am here a chosen sample,
To show thy grace is great and ample;
I'm here a pillar o' Thy temple,
Strong as a rock,
A guide, a buckler, and example,
To a' Thy flock.

O Lord, Thou kens what zeal I bear,
When drinkers drink, an' swearers swear,
An' singing here, an' dancin there,
Wi' great and sma';
For I am keepit by Thy fear
Free frae them a'.

But yet, O Lord! confess I must,
At times I'm fash'd wi' fleshly lust:
An' sometimes, too, in worldly trust,
Vile self gets in;
But Thou remembers we are dust,
Defil'd wi' sin.

O Lord! yestreen, Thou kens, wi' Meg
Thy pardon I sincerely beg;
O may't ne'er be a livin' plague
To my dishonour,
An' I'll ne'er lift a lawless leg
Again upon her.

Besides, I farther maun avow,
Wi' Leezie's lass, three times I trow -
But Lord, that Friday I was fou,
When I cam near her;
Or else, Thou kens, Thy servant true
Wad never steer her.

Maybe Thou lets this fleshly thorn
Buffet Thy servant e'en and morn,
Lest he owre proud and high shou'd turn,
That he's sae gifted:
If sae, Thy han' maun e'en be borne,
Until Thou lift it.

Lord, bless Thy chosen in this place,
For here Thou has a chosen race!
But God confound there stuborn face,
An' blast their name,
Wha brings Thy elders to disgrace
An' open shame.

Lord, mind Gaw'n Hamilton's deserts;
He drinks, an' swears, an' plays at cartes,
Yet has sae mony takin arts,
Wi' great an' sma',
Frae God's ain priest the people's hearts
He steals awa'.

And when we chasten'd him therefore,
Thou kens how he bred sic a splore,
And set the world in a roar
O' laughing at us;
Curse Thou his basket and his store,
Kail an' potatoes.

Lord, hear my earnest cry and pray'r,
Against that Presbyt'ry o' Ayr;
Thy strong right hand, Lord mak it bare
Upo' their heads;
Lord visit them, an' dinna spare,
For their misdeeds.

O Lord my God! that glib-tongu'd Aitken,
My vera heart an' flesh are quakin,
To think how we stood sweatin, shakin,
An' pish'd wi' dread,
While he, wi' hingin lip an' snakin,
Held up his head.

Lord, in Thy day o' vengeance try him,
Lord, visit them wha did employ him,
And pass not in Thy mercy by them,
Nor hear their pray'r,
But for Thy people's sake destroy them,
An' dinna spare.

But, Lord, remember me an' mine
Wi' mercies temporal and divine,
That I for grace an' gear may shine,
Excell'd by nane,
And a' the glory shall be Thine,
Amen, Amen!

Better performance and better result.

Looked more like a football side today - well done the bhoys.

I liked the team selection BTW.

No changes for Thursday - bring on Fortune and McGinn for Skippy and Paddy if the former looks as out of sorts as he did today and when the latter starts to fade away.

Start with Paddy though - he scares defenders and makes things happen.

Well played Herr Hinkel, Mc Geady, Paddy, the midfield duo and (in his own indomitable style) Sami...

Wonder if LloydsTSB FC will drop a point or three tomorrow?????

Make my weekend come on the Dundee Tims

Delighted for the Bhoys and Tony Mowbary today. Scoring goals and keeping a clean sheet. Any slip ups between now and the Rangers January sales will be magnified by the press and our support whipped up by them. Pity our board cant do the same.

If Rangers only manage a draw tomorrow my tip the focus on us will intensify. It will intensify on us until we can put more than 7 points between us and them. Even if Hibs are 1 point behind us.

Hail Hail

Traynor being derisive about McGeady on BBC radio.

McGeady was yellow carded when Celtic should have had a penalty as has happened on a number of occasions this season.

The penalty was a better claim than the one awarded to the Hearts midweek, Rangers in Europe, and umpteen others this season, yet according to Traynor, McGeady dived. Please call me.

Never mind, he never dived when he hit the net, I hope nobody phones the numpty Traynor.

Andy Walker really getting into them noo.
Showing your face over the parapit

Good important win today. Lets hope Dundee United can get something tomorrow.

I realy hope Tony goes with McCourt on Thursday. Hamburg lost 3-2 at home today after leading at halftime. Would take that on Thursday.

Murdo asked to give McGinn man of the match to please Chick Young, who is raging about the team sheet.

Further investigation of the matter has been suggested, and not in Celtic's interest.

Bet Chick wants the match voided.

what is the stars

Many thanks for that tip.

I raise my glass to you!

Looks like there could be a few bargains from Germany in January.

"Schalke looking to sell stars, reveals Magath
AFP - 31 October 2009

Schalke 04 coach Felix Magath, pictured on October 25, admitted Saturday the cash-strapped Royal Blues are looking to sell some of their stars as the Bundesliga side try to reduce their wage bill. BERLIN (AFP) - Schalke 04 coach Felix Magath admitted Saturday the cash-strapped Royal Blues are looking to sell some of their stars as the Bundesliga side try to reduce their wage bill.

Last Thursday, Schalke announced they had trimmed 25.5 million euros off their debts - reported to be in excess of 180 million euros - but their top names could be sold to lower their reported wage bill of 55 million euros.

"Even if we have some breathing space now, we must - and will - considerably reduce our wage bill for next season," Magath told German tabloid Bild.

"Up to the sale of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, everything is possible."

Neuer is being groomed as a Germany goalkeeper of the future by national coach Joachim Loew and Schalke are desperate to hold onto the 23-year-old.

But ex-Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi and Brazilian defender Rafinha top a list of eight players Bild claim Magath is keen to move on to ease their wage bill.

The others are strikers Halil Altintop and Gerald Asamoah, plus midfielders Levan Kobiashvili, Ivan Rakitic, Vicente Sanchez and Albert Streit.

Schalke host league leaders Leverkusen at the Veltins Arena on Saturday and are fourth in the table."

Love the 'cash-strapped Royal Blues' line.

Not read back just in from the game thought from the first minute we played with a lot more confidence.

hoops turn on the style to extend spl lead

David Friel
CELTIC produced one of their best performances of the season to beat Kilmarnock 3-0 and move four points clear of Rangers at the top of the SPL.

Aiden McGeady fired the Hoops ahead as Celtic blew Killie away with their pace and passing in the early stages. Georgios Samaras headed a second before the break and Niall McGinn’s third put some sheen on the scoreline.

Overall, it was an entertaining show from Tony Mowbray’s side, who could easily have scored six or seven. The impressive return of Marc-Antoine Fortune after an eight-week lay-off was another welcome boost on a productive afternoon.

The Hoops manager made several changes to his starting line-up. Glenn Loovens replaced the suspended Stephen McManus, while Scott McDonald, Paddy McCourt and Samaras were all handed starts.

Following the midweek defeat against Hearts, the manager was looking for an instant response and got it as the Hoops went for Kilmarnock from the start.

McCourt and McGeady were taking turns to torment the Killie full-backs and Andreas Hinkel was given acres of space to exploit on the right. From one of the German’s crosses, McDonald almost scored with a cheeky flick in five minutes.

The gifted McCourt, dancing in from the left, had a couple of efforts blocked before McGeady opened the scoring with a sublime strike in 13 minutes. McCourt’s shot was deflected into his path and he skipped past Craig Bryson and crashed a finish high into the net.

It was one-way traffic at this point. Killie goalkeeper Cammy Bell saved a McCourt shot and then watched as Samaras elected to square for McDonald when clean through and allowed the visitors to clear.

McGeady, drifting all over the pitch, came agonisingly close to finding Landry NGuemo with a low cross in 23 minutes. Samaras then fired two brilliant centres in for McDonald, but Killie somehow survived – with Bell pulling off an astonishing save from the Aussie.

Killie couldn’t get out of their half for a sustained period of time. Marc Crosas, always neat and tidy on the ball, and NGuemo were keeping Celtic ticking over in the middle of the park, while Loovens and Gary Caldwell were relatively untroubled at the back.

Celtic’s superiority deserved another goal and it arrived in 32 minutes. Crosas won possession and fed the ball to McGeady, who spotted Hinkel on the overlap. The German fired over a wonderful cross and Samaras bulleted his header into the roof of the net.

Killie had barely been seen as attacking force but they did muster up a chance before the break. Gavin Skelton whipped a cross into the box and Kevin Kyle should have done better than head wide from six yards.

The visitors made two changes at the break – David Fernandez and Garry Hay on for Connor Sammon and Danny Invincibile. Jim Jefferies was looking for a reaction but Fraser Wright over-stepped the mark and was booked for a challenge on Crosas.

Kyle, always a massive threat for Killie in the box, headed over the bar from 10 yards in 50 minutes. In truth, he should have done a lot better.

Celtic had been quiet at the start of the second half but McGeady almost made it 3-0 in 53 minutes. McDonald and Samaras combined to release the winger but Bell did just enough to put McGeady off.

Kyle headed over once again from a good position but Celtic were still causing Killie problems. Samaras was thwarted by Wright inside the six-yard box and McDonald nearly converted a McCourt cross just before the hour-mark.

McGeady cut in from the right and tested Bell with a low shot before Fortune and Niall McGinn replaced McCourt and McDonald for Celtic in 66 minutes. Almost immediately, Fortune's drive was saved.

The lively McGeady was controversially booked for diving inside the box as the Hoops searched for a third. Samaras and NGuemo then linked up but the Greek striker narrowly missed the target with a low drive.

McGeady, moving in from the left this time, again made Bell work with a low drive. McGinn was next to have a go but his left-foot effort drifted two yards wide.

However, the Irishman fared better with his next attempt in 78 minutes. Hinkel once again grabbed the assist – his ninth of the season so far – with a weighted pass and McGinn gave Bell no chance with an emphatic finish to make it 3-0.

Bell denied McGeady with a wonder save in 80 minutes. The Irish winger was then withdrawn for Zheng Zhi and he also made the goalkeeper work moments after coming on.

Bell then pulled off three unbelievable saves in the space of 10 seconds to keep the score down. Without him, Killie could have been on the end of a hiding.

CELTIC chairman John Reid branded rivals Rangers "boring Holy Willies" in an astonishing blast yesterday.

Dr Reid also took a dig at the Ibrox side's cash plight during a heated row with Hoops fans at the club's AGM. When Celtic Trust chief Jeanette Findlay accused Dr Reid of "patronising" her, he said: "If you want a boring crowd of Holy Willies, go to the other side of the city."

The bitter exchange was sparked after the trust opposed the re-appointment of former Defence Secretary Dr Reid, majority shareholder Dermot Desmond and fellow director Tom Allison.

But as he defended the Celtic board's financial policy, Airdrie MP Dr Reid took a dig at Rangers - who are £30million in debt and looking for new owners to buy out majority shareholder Sir David Murray.

Dr Reid said if Ms Findlay wanted profligacy, she should "go to the other side of the city". He said: "If you start getting into a position where you are running up debts that you cannot afford, spending money you don't have, it is the road not to success but to ruin.

"The people who decide whether we will sell players or buy players are the management and the board, who are accountable to the fans and shareholders. Not some anonymous director of a bank."

Last night Ms Findlay said: "I was insulted and patronised."

Rangers Supporters' Trust chief Steven Smith accused Dr Reid of "gloating" over the Ibrox club's situation.

He added: "John Reid's comments could be expected from a Celtic fanzine, rather than from the chairman of a football club and a former minister of the Crown." Rangers last night refused to comment.

Well worth our win today, with some good play all round. Great to see McCourt getting a start - he was on top form.

On the down side, our defence is still incapable of defending cross balls,... either that or Kilmarnock are going to make a fortune selling their captain to Real Madrid in January.

But that's enough negativity.

Would love to see the same kind of attacking play against Hamburg on Thursday. McCourt's got to take this opportunity to make that position his own.

Real Madrid 0-0 Getafe.

If Real Madrid don't win, the manager will be sacked following a humiliating 4-0 defeat away to a team from the third division in the cup in midweek.

However, Real Madrid are down to ten. Ex-Valencia defender Raúl Albiol got a straight red for bringing a man down when he had a chance to score.

You are right

Some great performances today

Well done Bhoys 3-0 going on 6

Peter Maguire also posed the question, are some sections of the media still being controlled by Murray.
This is curious as we've suspected this for years but apparently we were all paranoid.

hmmmm the only people who get pot shots are the negative twisted snoor heids that simply canny enjoy being top of the league and a convincing victory -without raking the ashes for something -ve to say

a 'love in' is an pleasant thing - maybe try it -just to see how it feels, you might even enjoy it- then again mebbes not

top of the league and smilin' and getting some goooood lurvin'

Based on John Reid's comments he has been spending far too much time reading CQN.

It certainly ruffled the dignified feathers of the Clyde team, and that can't be bad.

'GG up n about

PS My MOTM was Heinkel today.

Lots of positives today. I thought Crosas looked good, he's got a good range of passing, the type of play we've been missing since Donati left. It was also good to see MAF back, I think a front 2 of Samaras and MAF could scare a lot of teams with their pace. On the downside we still look capable of losing goals, something the whole team needs to take responsibility for.

I haven't seen any of the game but my mate phoned to say he was ENTERTAINED. That surely says it all. To him, Samaras and Hinkel were the best. Here's hoping we can build up this and go from strength to strength, playing the game the Glasgow Celtic way. Feels good and looking forward to watching it on Channel 67 tomorrow. That's not been a regular feeling this season. Long may it continue.

St.JohnDoyle 5.24pm

Indeed there was.

Not long before half time, a heavy police/steward police presence appeared at the entrances/exits of 111 and 112.

After observing the Green Brigade supporting the team, the stewards with the help of the police decided to remove a few of our members. Obviously they were not too keen to go down to the concourse for a 'quiet word' for fear of arrest. Eventually they managed to get 1 lad out of the section, and as a result the rest of the group followed him. Alot of non members also walked out , and the group received great support from the rest of the fans as they did so.

Very very strange that we had any problems today, as things have been going ok for the past wee while. The last 2 home games (Hamburg and Hearts) have seen great support for the team from the 111 area. We recognise that there has been overcrowding issues in the past , and this is something we have attempted to deal with (by asking those on our forum, not to be taking seats that don't belong to them, and indeed asking people in the stadium to move to empty seats etc - this is something that the club have recognised incidentally).

Perhaps today is something to do with the new female supervisor in the section, who we have been made aware is a Hun, and is a known loyalist sympathiser (Loyalist flute bands images/UVF images on her bebo etc). Not entirely the best person to be in charge of that section, or indeed any section inside Celtic Park.

Hinkel was excellent today, as were most of the side. Crosas and N'Guemo looked good together in midfield. Fortun'e was very sharp when he came on. McGinn showed how to put your foot through the ball when given a chance. What's not to like?

I have to defend Aiden McGeady. I sit right in line with the incident and for me there was clear contact as he went past his man. Can't believe that it wasn't a penalty and the yellow card really did add insult.

Hope we’ve all calmed down after the massive moanfest the other night following the league cup KO by Hearts , all those towels getting thrown in - that was shocking, you’d think we’d just blown the league itself. We will get beat from time to time, that’s life as a Celtic fan, it’s always been like that and some of the more regular posters on really need to learn to deal with it better and not take it so personally.

Higuaín scores for Real Madrid.

1-0.

2-0. Higuaín again.

My worst nightmare
By Mark Hateley on Oct 29, 09 06:45 AM in rangers

The events of the last few days have truly terrified me. It's not that I've been shocked, because I had a fair idea things were not all well behind the scenes at my old club.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say that in my 40 years of playing, watching and studying football as man and boy I have never known anything as serious as this.

So it was no surprise to me that things have become so desperate Walter Smith felt the need to announce to the world that the bankers have got a grip of the purse-strings inside Ibrox.

Walter acted with great dignity and admirable honesty when he spoke up to tell the fans just how bleak the situation has become. That's typical of a man who puts Rangers Football Club before himself at every turn. No, none of the above has come as a shock. What I do find terrifying, however, is the thought of what might be about to come now the wheels have been set in motion.

My greatest fear is Rangers are hurtling towards complete and utter disaster. A crash so spectacular and so damaging my club might never recover from it.

And if that nightmare scenario should come to pass then the good people of Lloyds Banking Group will be left with blood on their hands. I first expressed my concerns in these pages earlier this season when it became clear to me that the money men were standing between Walter and a new contract. That was really when the alarm bells started to sound.

But if these people have not sussed out by now that the current manager is the most valuable asset at the club then the situation is even worse than I thought.

You don't have to be a member of the Dragon's Den to know it makes good business sense to have a man withWalter's credentials and experience in charge at this time of crisis. That they still have not worked this out is partly why I have started to imagine a truly horrific picture unfolding. But that's not all.

It is my understanding that a serious rescue package has been tabled but that the individual or group of individuals behind it may be becoming irritated by what could be perceived as a reluctance on behalf of the bankers to sit down and thrash out a deal.

Now that scares the life out of me. Let's just imagine for a minute that there is no one else out there even remotely interested in making an offer to buy out the club.

And let's just say, for argument's sake, the people who are currently at the table decide e 1nough is enough. What if they walk away? What happens then? That's the thought that keeps me awake at nights. Where the hell does the club go next if no deal can be struck between the bank and the only interested party? I'll tell you what I think - Rangers will be on the road to oblivion.

There's a school of thought going around which says the bankers might not be in a rush to accept the first offer, especially if they are not guaranteed to recoup every last penny of a debt which is around the £30million mark.

But I honestly can't see any prospective buyer agreeing to pay that sum back in full.

If you look at the way these things are handled in all other walks of life the guy who comes in to rescue a troubled business always seems to do some kind of deal with the company's creditors.Whether it's paying them back 50p or 75p for every pound owed, there is always a bit of coming and going in the negotiations.

So what if the bank are not willing to bend? In fact, what if the bank believe they have a better chance of clawing back the debt by running the club themselves and stripping it down to the bone?

Profit

If they are left without a buyer then that is the only way forward. Sell everything and everybody who is not nailed down and run the club into the ground.

Rangers are actually one of the few business around in this current climate which is actually on course to make a profit this year. The bank might see this as proof they can continue to downsize for as long as it takes for the £30m to be paid back. One, two, three, maybe four years? Who knows? And who knows what damage will be done to the club in the process? I'll take a guess - it will be completely wiped out.

Just to make things clear to the people who are calling the shots right now, I would like to point out that the only reason this club is performing reasonably well is because of the incredible work Walter has been doing against all the odds.

He's had two hands tied behind his back but he's still taken the team to a UEFA Cup Final, won back the SPL title and secured a £10m ticket to the Champions League. Considering he has not been allowed to buy a player for going on 18 months the man is nothing short of a miracle worker.

But maybe best of all,Walter was man enough to come out and tell it like it really is. Because of his integrity the world now knows just how serious the situation at Ibrox has become. I can only hope and pray that those who have to make the big decisions act with the same sense of duty and honesty.

Ref chief Dallas in danger of breaking the flaw
By Andy Walker on Oct 18, 09 12:04 PM in

NOT so long ago Hugh Dallas was thought of as Scotland's top ref.

Unlike so many in the SPL today he ruled with the stamp of his own personality and showed plenty of common sense.

But since taking up his role as SFA Head of Referee Development, Hugh's advice on how to improve the game and his guidance to the current men in black has been nothing short of ridiculous.

After Kris Boyd was booked for simulation in a League Cup match against Queen of the South some weeks ago it was reported Dallas wanted the punishment upgraded to players found guilty of that offence from a yellow card to a red. He cannot be serious!

Can you imagine the confusion and bewilderment that would bring to our game? Every ref in Scotland should be concerned because if Hugh gets his wish he'd have put No.1 official Craig Thomson in an impossible situation after the season's first Old Firm game.

If we take up Hugh's absurd call for a stiffer penalty on an issue he insists is not a big problem, Thomson would have been hung out to dry for having to send off Shaun Maloney and Mark Wilson for simulation.

And if Dallas wants to upgrade yellows to reds retrospectively he's obviously opening up the potential for an appeals procedure when refs get it wrong.

Given it has just taken the SFA almost five months to deal with an appeal for a Glenn Loovens challenge on Maurice Edu, that does not bear thinking about.

Instead of owning up to an obvious blunder for ignoring an early appeal for a penalty when Maloney was brought down by Davie Weir, Thomson would have been left with the hopeless task of explaining why reds are handed out for simulation even when there is contact.

This is what Hugh believes and he's clearly urging refs to act on it.

And if he really thinks two extra red cards at Ibrox would have made the Old Firm clash a better spectacle we're all in trouble.

When the advice is to be extra vigilant on simulation I can see why refs can't make a decisive call even when it's clear-cut. That`s how daft this issue has become.

About Thomson's apology, the sooner we get away from applauding refs who admit to game-changing howlers the better.

Weir's trip on Maloney was so obvious he had no choice other than to hold his hands up but I wonder how many Dallas will allow before it becomes embarrassing.

Significantly, neither Hugh nor Thomson commented on the yellow cards dished out to Maloney and Wilson for alleged simulation.

Old Firm bosses Tony Mowbray and Walter Smith should be worried because it's their men who are targeted for special treatment.

It's ridiculous there seems to be one rule for Celtic and Rangers and another for the rest of the SPL.

Given Dallas believes there can be simulation even when players are tackled I fear the worst for refs this season as they try to make any sort of reasonable judgment.

In one breath he said: "Simulation has been topical over the last few weeks but I don't think we have a major problem in Scotland."

But in another added: "Our job is to make sure refs are identifying it. We work to make sure they know how to identify how a player falls."

Can you believe that? Refs are now being taught to identify how a player falls! Where will the madness end? In my days at Ayr United, Hugh took charge of a game I played in at Somerset Park when I jumped out of a tackle for fear of a leg break.

I've no idea how it looked but he did what I expected of a competent official, he recognised the intent and booked my overly aggressive opponent.

Now that players are wary of being branded cheats - even by those who invite them to play for Scotland - are they being asked to ride those tackles and risk serious injury? Whatever happened to accepting that the Laws of the Game cater for every possible incident on the field of play and let refs deal with it? Under Dallas' guidance there's little chance of today's crop adopting their own style and personality, something he would have hated.

Looking at how a player falls is mad.

And bookings for simulation - even when there's contact - is a recipe for certain disaster.

Hopefully, Hugh pays no attention to the clique of former refs who take great delight in branding the likes of Maloney and Wilson as conmen.

Thankfully they have no serious input to the game but Dalls does and must know these new guidelines are dangerous and full of flaws.

fortune looked good when he came on didn't he guys?

been a while since we've seen a forward out-muscle defenders whilst taking the ball down. he bullied some of the killie players.

his movement was excellent too. times his runs on the shoulder well, pull defenders out of position - e.g. mcginn's goal - altogether an encouraging performance from him.

sammy and fortune up front for the time being now i think.

We said to the players before the game that they were going to come at us.

"Celtic were excellent today. We just couldn't get near them.

"I thought we were better in possession in the second half when we had a go, and Kevin Kyle admitted he should have scored a hat-trick with headers.

"But when Celtic play like that they're difficult to contain, so I must praise our boys for sticking to their task." -Torn Face JJ

I think what is really interesting is that when a scribe is asked if Murray does controll the meeja or if there are hacks who are afraid of Minty or the Cardigan there is no denial. Its always "Yes, but not me."

Higuaín through for the hat-trick but he hits the post.

What a difference having a mobile striker with movement.

3rd goal emphasizes the improtance of Fortune. Dragged the defender wide, winger runs into space, goal.

All this myth about him not being a goalscorer etc.. we'll see come the end of the season how many he gets. I bet you see ouyr midfielders getting more now he's back.

Yet again the media will peddle out tit bits about him not being a goalscorer and some fans will take the bait, but football is a team game and watch how important he is to the team in the coming konths. I happen to think we will add the 30 plus striker to partner him but he will get his fare share as well.

Don't fall into this trap our spin the media put out about him. What a different proposition we looked when he came on.

Sammy or Maloney to partner him for me till January.

It was long overdue, sorry. I promise not to be a stranger anymore:)

Hail Hail fellow Celts.

Tonights victory was cause for another celebration. Tonight saw the inauguaration and the rebirth of the Singapore Celtic Supporters club.

9 good Tims gathered at Bojangles Pub Arcadia and saw a fantastic performance by the men in the hoops. We shouted with passion as we stood 7000 miles away from Celtic Park and witnessed Tony's Celtic team play football the Glasgow Celtic way.

Harry or Timoot as he is well known here on CQN has shown us younger Celts what it really means to be a Celtic supporter by his efforts and endeavours to get the Singapore Celts up and running again.

We will post our details in Celtic Bars for all the travelling Celts who are passing through Singapore, we are the official Celtic Supporters club.

Looking forward to welcoming you in Singapore.

KL Bhoy

Mowbray also conveyed his disappointment at a perceived misrepresentation of his comments by the media and in a more cautious sermon at Celtic Park yesterday, pledged his support to a misfiring strike force and, in particular, Georgios Samaras, the forward rich in flair but fragile in confidence and, on Wednesday night, execution.

“Whatever I say you will report in a negative spin but I am delighted Samaras is getting into the positions to score goals and we are working with him on when to get into wide areas and when to come in and score goals,” said Mowbray.

“Footballers play to their strengths: Samaras has good pace, good ability to travel with the ball and good acceleration for somebody at 6ft 3in. He showed he is able to get into good areas but needs to get the balance right. You need to make sure the next one goes in and not to stop trying.”

Mowbray was less sympathetic to his captain’s plight. McManus, having struggled to reassert his authority in the Mowbray era, now serves a two-match ban after a petulant scything down of Andrew Driver.

With Loovens back from his own retrospective ban, Mowbray admits McManus’s loss is the Dutchman’s potential gain in the moveable feast that is his central defensive pairing.

“He has dented his own chances because he is suspended,” said Mowbray. “He needs to have the maturity to cement his place. I can’t pre-judge but I hope Glenn grabs his opportunity and the team hopefully keeps clean sheets.”

Like you, I was surprised at Jim Jeffries’ magnanimity today.

On the commentary on Channel 67, David Friel and Paul Cuddihy both gave him a very hard time for his protests at the time of Aiden's ridiculous yellow card.

When you think what a thug like Frazer Wright has to do to get a caution and the pathetic indulgence of a walking serial career-threat like Ian Black, you have to wonder at Aiden getting a yellow card almost every game.

One of Scottish football's ongoing problems is that the game is far too agricultural.

Another 2 assists for Hinkel as well.

KL Bhoy,

Send your details to me at the LostBhoys site and we will get you on the podcast. I have e-mailed the Singapore club three times (including last Wednesday) now without reply, this explains it.

As last man standing in the naps..ive had a wee bet on your sel...gl

negative anon @ 6.15

Yes I'm aware that our form recently has been lets say indifferent but taking into account we are top of the league that's normal. We don't win that many trebles or get to the business end of too many European tournaments so I don't see anything dramatically different from what's gone before.

Of course I'd love to see us smash the opposition out of sight every time we play them but as a Celtic fan for 40 odd years I know not to expect that.

I really enjoyed that today. Very entertained. Soem of the football was terrific, and i must say the young Killie goalie did exceptionally well.

Andreas Hinkel; How many goals does this man need to set up before he is recognised as a very important player for us? Dunno the stats, but he must be near the top of our 'assists' league.

Enjoyed McCourt's performance until he tired....

Aiden, good goal, even played some clever passes, gosh, a good shift.

Sammi needed that goal badly, and his melodramatics I find embarrassing, but he worked hard, scored a peach, and contributed well.

N'Guemo and Crosas get it. How to run a midfield with the short ball. Most encouraging.

And welcome back Fortuné, never, NEVER, lost a ball played to feet. Skippy; Nota bene. Did you count the chances after he came on? Me neither, but whatever it is that he does, it makes the 'Tic tick.

Well done young McGinn.

To the considerable number of season ticket holders who did not make it along today; You missed a chunk of value.

To the considerable number of others who chose not pay to watch today, you missed out.

Not sure if you are still around and I doubt either of us in the mood for an argument, but felt I should reply.

The key words you used are 'it might' which also means 'it might not' and where would we be then ?

My plan ? Well the board have appointed a manager with a reputation for producing entertaining football teams. Also they have given him £8m more than any other team in the league to spend, so I am happy to endorse that one.

Most fans will judge players on what the see and decide themselves their attributes and worth to the cause.

Unfortunately we have some who can't think for themselves, examples,TM has worse record than JB,MAF not a goalscorer-never where he should be,dressing room unrest,Fortress Parkhead no more yadyyadyya.

I'd like to think most of us have a handle on what's going on and what's required to improve our team and club. There will always be ones who phone Daily Ranger regurgitating what they read the day before, but theyre in the minority surely.

Basic 4-4-2 worked well.

Full time in Madrid. The long knives get put away until the Champions' League game against AC Milan in the San Siro on Tuesday, which, if Real Madrid lose, will also, probably, cost Manuel Pellegrini his job.

Conspiracy theorists the length and breadth of Catalonia are already questioning Getafe’s approach to this game. After all, Getafe’s manager this season is none other than Míchel, the guy who played more than 400 games for Real Madrid at the same time as Emilio Burtragueño.

Hmmm, as they say on Getafe Quick News.

Delighted to see the Bhoys doing so well today. Great score and according to BeeB Radio Scotland the performance seemed to be excellent and entertaining. Let's hope that this is the turning of the corner.

Well done to the players and the Management. Now let's put some distance between ourselves and TFOD.

Thanks for the info can someone from the supporters assoc. not take up your issues with the club we have to get this resolved.

I had the chance to see you guys at closer quarters midweek as not in my seat at 405, my son and his pal were thinking about coming over to join the chanting. The atmosphere reminded me of the good old days in the old Jungle at the middle of No.8 (ahh the good old days).

keep up the good work it cheered me up on a lousey night but the issue of people we employ to alienate our support is not on I am only suggesting getting someone from the Assoc. to raise it so they might take more seriously.

West Wales Celt

No but as long as he's fit for the January transfer window, that'll do me :-)

Thanks for your earlier response, I can understand your suggestion that my post 'reeks of snobbery etc', I do think there is a dvisision between many who 'support the club' and have done thro good and bad, and many who simply 'turn up and expect'as consumers.

In this consumer era then each has an entitlement however sadly many seem to think it beneficial to be hurling abuse at players, and perpetrating negativity as 1st resort whenever Celtic do not deliver as they expect.

At a time when our rivals have serious challenges on and off the park for 20 or so 'consumers' (no apology for the term) to gather and shout 'sack te board' whilst the club is top of the league does not appear to make sense and to me appears to be 'ignorant' to the impact of their behaviour in providing media negative oxygen about the club, and also ignorant of the potential woder impact in perpetuating negativity about the club, and heaping ridicule on the support they are seen to represent with an unrealistic and stupid request.

They are of course entitled to their views and if this is divisive then so be it.

I for one am delighted for our manager that he / the team / we got the result today to buy him a week of respite from the comination of our own 'abusers' and the media's agenda. It would be even sweeter if our rivals were to lose by a couple of goals and finish tomorrow evening in 4th place in the SPL.

KOJO i urge you to retract your foul slur on young aiden when you called him stoopid

you can have your opinion on his football ability but i dont think you have the right to call our best player stoopid especially as you cant even spell it properly please note stooppid lol

p s just a bit of fun but i do think you were out of line imho

Thoroughly enjoyed todays game. Only differnece from Wednesday is that we hit the onion bag 3 times. Superb goal from young Niall. Great strike son, showing the way for our more experienced strikers. Really like the look of Fortune when he came on today. He has something we have missed all season so far. The ability to turn a derfender on a 5p piece. May be a bit early but after seeing the chance we created on Wednesday and again today I am biggining to feel a little confidence creep back in.
