Rangers debt tops all predictions while turnover sinks to 1990s level

| | Comments (913)
Rangers today released their annual accounts for the year to end June 2009.  Turnover dipped to £39.7m (2008: £64.5m), the lowest in over a decade, with net operating expenses, the cost to run the club before things like transfers and interest, at £48.2m.

The club lost £12.7m despite the sale of Carlos Cuellar for 10m euro.  Although Rangers invested this and more on new players, outgoing transfer payments are amortised in the accounts over the period of each player's contract, so this loss is despite the overwhelming majority of last season's transfer spend having not hit the accounts yet.

Net debt topped all predictions at £31.1m.

These figures make it clear what lay behind manager Walter Smith's comments last month that Rangers were being run by the bank.  The alternative appears to be not being run by the bank, or by anyone.

"Still the day can only get better for the plucky 'Gers!"

You keep making these statements? Are you referring to the UEFA announcement and canamalar's prediction?

Come on UEFA, grow a spine

As you are all aware on Saturday the 14th of November 2009 ‘Bringing Martin Home’ will be holding its close-out fund raising event in the form of a ‘Race Night’ to be held in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park. Tickets Cost £5. Doors open 7pm sharp. There are still tickets remaining so if you would like to come along please email

Email - info@bringingmartinhome.com

On the night there will be 8 horse races, each race having 8 runners, to be shown on screens in the Kerrydale Suite. Like normal horse race betting each horse will have racing odds against them. Once you have bet on a horse you can then sit back and shout your horse onto victory before picking up any winnings due to you if your horse romps home first.

As well as the Horse Racing there will be 2 separate raffles and an auction on the evening.

Note :- unfortunately due to logistics and committee having too much to do with too little time available to do it all in, between now and the race night, the raffle is only open to those who will be attending on the night.
The star prize on the night '2 weeks use of a Florida Villa (accommodation only)' will be raffled off in a tenner raffle were you write your name on a £10 note and it is placed in a tombola before being drawn at random. This prize would normally cost £1200 in high season. The accommodation is located 10 miles from Disney and sleeps up to 12 people. Prize must be used by May 2011 subject to availability.

On the FA PL story, the vote was not the issue, I’ll pick up on it when we get more information on what, if anything, will happen next.

CelticSephiroth, the day is already better for the plucky Gers, another 15 minutes of existence.

RogueLeader, no idea what else is planned for today.

No EPL for Celtic. DD and co must be sick, I know I am.

Things can only get better.

Maybe we should pass the song sheet over to idiotrox.

Of course they do! And that's the problem. Anybody who doesn't submit to their crazy agenda is a "denier" who must be punished. The green agenda has morphed into a post-Christian secular religion with its own twisted versions of original sin, atonement through sacrifice, and hatred of heretics.

Paul67 - I thank you. It's hard to resist the urge to defend Mrs T's honour, because doing that in the company of Celtic supporters or Scottish people in general is like taking on the role of the greased-up Spartans in "300", and I rarely have the time. :)

Is it wrong that I have checked the UEFA disciplinary commitee meeting minutes to see what time the Huns fate will be decided? Hey ho meeting started at 12.30 so we should know by what tommorow lunchtime?

just read the league statement, saying that it was not desirable nor viable for Celtic & Rangers to join. Very interesting Language to include the word "desirable" in the wording of the vote decision.
I wonder how many chairmen when hearing that word cast there minds back to the images of Rangers fans in Manchester.

So they won the league last year using money that really was never theirs to use.

But God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform,
Banned from Europe and Fined.
The money they used last year to fund the purchase of players is not included in these accounts.
Therefore the money from the CL Qualification has already been swallowed up by the Company in wages and transfer fees.
So the debt £31 million at 30 June 2009.

philvisreturns - and another so called legitimate way of creating taxes .

for me the most important figure is the £12m loss in the last financial year,,, their debt has nearly doubled in a year, massive cost cutting required to reverese a £12m yearly loss before they can even eat into the debt .

So 14 from 20 said no?

Bit better than the 20 from 20 who said no last time around.

Watch what happens behind the scenes now though.

HAIL! HAIL!

No sign of a write down in value of Ibrox or training facilities

Paul67, could you explain what the £41million liabilities due in one year involves?

Afternoon Paul67, I see you are saying that today's vote on the EPL expansion was not the main issue. Are you saying that this proposal is not dead in the water? I think that the SPL/SFA could be brought into this debate and discuss the plans for a revamp of the British Football set up whereby the top team in Scotland and England are competing in a new format. If we are good enough to go, then why not Hearts, Hibs, Dundee United, Aberdeen etc.?

Hail, Hail

alun_e

philvisreturns - when I say 'nobody' I mean people that actually know what they're talking about. Lets not forget that the British Isles are still tilting as a recovery from the last ice age which was neither started nor stopped by man's activity.

One thin dime- I would expect the European money from this financial year should take care of the £12m annual loss - for one year anyway.

Philvisreturns, no probs.

That was the first thing that caught my eye too. Someone clever on CQN explained quite recently why this might not matter but I can't remember even the gist of the argument, impressed though I was at the time.

Where is NeilR?

Have these figures been release today in the hope of soliciting a modicum of sympathy regarding their plight ?

Hail Hail

Global Warming is shorthand, it's more accurate to talk of Climate Change. An excellent addition to the CQN Book Club would be a book called 'The Hot Topic: What we can do about Global Warming'.

It's a politically and opinion neutral study into what we are doing to the planet.

Am I reading this correctly? They have liabilities of £40m due within a year and a turnover of £39m? Erm this is perhaps why the bank are in charge....they cannot pay what they owe!

Does anyone know how (if) the valuation of Ibrox distorts their figures?

I see their net assets are listed as 121m (I think) and 2008's were listed as 123m (I think).

Is this based on their valuation of Ibrox?

What effect, if any, would there be if Ibrox was valued considerably less than what it currently is?

Premier League clubs reject Celtic and Rangers

Premier League rejects Old Firm

Celtic and Rangers will have to stay in the SPL

The Premier League has rejected a plan to bring Celtic and Rangers into English football's top flight.

The Old Firm pair had hoped to be part of new plans put forward by Bolton chairman Phil Gartside for a two-tier league of between 36 and 40 teams.

It was thought that there would be a top tier of 18 clubs, with promotion and relegation to and from the league.

The SPL pair would have been invited to join the lower league but the proposal was overwhelmingly rejected.

The Premier League said in a statement: "Bolton Wanderers submitted a discussion paper detailing ideas concerning the restructuring of the Premier League into two tiers with the inclusion of Celtic and Rangers.

606: DEBATE
Have your say on the news

"The clubs welcomed the additional input into an ongoing process, however, they were of the opinion that bringing Celtic and Rangers into any form of Premier League set-up was not desirable or viable.

"The other relevant ideas contained within Bolton's paper will now be taken forward as part of the wider strategic review being undertaken by the Premier League since November 2008 with the aim of providing recommendations before December 2010."

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had backed the inclusion of the Scottish clubs in the Premier League.

The proposals were a revival of Gartside's ideas which received a hostile reception from the Premier League's 20 chairmen six months ago.

Gartside has expressed concerns that too much money continues to flow into the coffers of the top four clubs.

Last season, champions Manchester United earned £52.3m in Premier League television money, compared to £31.6m for bottom club West Brom.

The fact that the four clubs in the Champions League also earned between £20m and £33m on top of that from European TV and prize money - and benefit from huge ticket and merchandise revenue - has led to a number of chairmen of mid and lower-ranking clubs to believe the time has come for a review.

But Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said last month he could not envisage the 20 Premier League clubs voting for the Old Firm's inclusion, and he was proved right.

I have never been on FF but I think that The People who of course deserve better must have three first, five second and ten third.
Limited website that CQN is.

As i understand it no vote on Celtic joining the EPL was due to occur today.

The fact they had a vote is a big step.
The fact that 6 clubs have changed their minds in our favour in the space of a few short years is a big step.
We know the broadcasters ase in favour.
We know UEFA are in favour in principle
We know Celtic are in favour

All we need is time.

It would be interesting what the vote would be if it was just to invite Celtic to play in the EPL.

Paul67, could you explain what the £41million liabilities due in one year involves?

-----------------

Detail is not provided in today's announcement.

2008 figs

£’000
Bank loan 1,000
Other loans 450
Trade creditors 13,097
Amounts due to subsidiary undertakings -
Social security and other taxes 1,508
Other creditors 61
Deferred income: Capital Grants (see Note 19) 226
Accruals and other deferred income 19,519
Lease creditor 92

Total 35,953

Accruals and other deferred income will include season ticket sales for season 09/10 (guesstimate £ 10m max).

well that's Reporting Scotland announcing mordor's financial debacle in the news headlines, break em' in gently!

Intersting story on the BBC Website

Content, important in terms of Derry City, but the key thing I took from this was:

"The FAI's Chief Executive, John Delaney, who is in Derry, said the body also wants to establish the extent of Derry City's debt."

Wasn't it reported that he would be on the disciplinary panel dealing with Ranger's UEFA charge?

Mort

thanks cubist funk, but what does that actually mean? do they have to pay £41 million within a year?

Mort

He is on the panel but if the whole panel are not meeting today then it would lend weight to the argument that no debate is taking place today, merely the handing out of a sentence which could be done simply by one member, most likely the chair, of the panel.

Mort

Maybe Canamalar's info was spot on and the decision has already been made, hence no need for Mr Delaney to hang about awaiting Mr Bains latest denials :-)

mountain_bhoy, from Cubist’s figures...

Deferred income is season ticket money paid before the end of June 2008 for this season. It is money the club have taken for a period is still has to accrue costs for, so has to be shown in this way in the accounts.

The overdraft will also be included in the “within one year” figure.

The "Breaking News" ticker on the Evening Times homepage appears to be in denial.

CelticSephiroth, PjDali

Cheers, never thought of that.

Mort

"Clearly, costs at this level cannot be sustained without Champions League income."

Paul67 et al,

So these accounts are not the “statutory accounts” is this normal accountant talk or is there more to come when they provide the “statutory accounts”?

This is the footnote at the end of the acccounts:

The financial information set out in the announcement does not constitute the group's statutory accounts for the years ended 30 June 2009 or 2008.

The financial information for the year ended 30 June 2008 is derived from the statutory accounts for that year which have been delivered to the Registrar of Companies.

The auditors reported on those accounts; their report was
unqualified and did not contain a statement under s237(2) or (3) of the
Companies Act 1985.

The statutory accounts for the year ended 30 June 2009 will be finalised on the basis of the financial information presented by the directors in this preliminary announcement and will be delivered to the Registrar of Companies.

The Directors of The Rangers Football Club plc accept responsibility for this announcement.

Hail Hail

Philvis:
glad you took time to read and digest those articles and follow up the references.
You talk about Facts yet your argument seems to be based on opinions.

The danger here is that the denialists are influencing people because it is much more preferable to accept that climate change isn't happening than to accept that your lifestyle might have to be simplified. People generally take the easiest option even when it's wrong.

When you have some FACTS and not just what you claim to be FACTS come back to me.

Oh the bluebells have turned brown died :o)

mountain_bhoy - yes but the need to repay season ticket sales for season 09/10 would only arise under the most extraordinary circumstances.

Celtic_First - a write-down would decrease Net Assets and Shareholders' Funds, no effect on P&L. This would not involve cash but would darken the rainclouds of perception. Any key measures involving Assets (eg Debt to Assets) will obviously worsen.

I think there is no doubt our ambitions are hindered by being part of the old firm and not just Celtic.

In a recent english centric radio show one journo asked why they would want Celtic and Rangers after what happened in Manchester...nobody on the show corrected him on the culprits that night.

Can someone clarify for me how much are they spending per annum just servicing the debt? According to these figs anyway...

canamalar

Any update?

Folly Folly,

I expect another struggle and I expect us to be pipped at the post.

I threw the towel in about 4 weeks ago.

I might readjust that if Rangers sell sell sell or a buyer for Rangers can be found before the January transfer window,

Sorry but I just cant see our Old Firm Board wanting us to deny Rangers another hand oot

Mind you after today CL participation next year for Rangers might be irrelevant.

Hail Hail

Hail Hail

Whilst it is entertaining to watch the squirming south of the river, it would seem to me that the rankers were being run in a very similar fashion to a lot of the teams in the EPL. The EPL teams chasing the annual sky cash with rankers the CL cash. Either way failure to secure the cash leads to a lot of pain. So the question is, is sir minty worse as an owner than a lot of the EPL teams ?

Paul

How long will it take for the huns to get their revenue streams back? is there definite dates for each to be returned/renewed?

Oh,dear, and I was told the boy david was a financial genius. Quel domage.

So,to cut to the quick, any guesses at how much someone would have to cough in order that they own rangers outright, including the training ground and stadium, with zero debt and no liabilities to speak of(roughly where they were when minty took over.)

From looking at all those figures quoted, the answer lies north of £200m.

I think the only person left who thinks they can afford the cost, and be able to make it work is,erm,a financial whizz by the name of Sir David Murray.
Again,oh,dear.

Thanks, thought I would ask. The detail was revealing :)

Interesting yet disappointing news in the Rangers Annual Report.

Hands up atthis end, I had predicted £35M debt =/- £3M, and the buggers landed at £31.7. They snuck in a wee £4M receipt through the back door.

Still, with the loss for the year, the net book value of Rangers is £66M, while the stock market value is £45M.

Anyone intersted in buying them should expect a ticket price somewhere between these values, factored down to 88% for the actual shareholding of MIH and related parties, so one might expect to pay £40=58M for the MIH related shareholding.

Thereupon, one will require to pay down the debt to HBoS to a level HBoS is comfortable with (probably nil).

And thereafter, invest in the club's resources - players and the likes - say £10M.

All in all, any prospective Rangers purchaser will need facilities in the order of £80-100Million to effect 88% ownership, debt reduction and £10M of football related investment.

Of course, the valuations for properties and players may reflect an inclination towards a lower bid by any interested fools.

I was interested to note Johnston in his report saying he'll be giving a full statement on the club's position at the AGM in December. One's breath is baited Al.

Also noted the substantial reduction in trade debtors (folk who owe them money), and an alarming increase in payroll tax and VAT liabilities.

And finally, a £15M debt they owed to a group subsidiary was 'waived'. Gosh.

Commenting on the CFC Panel UEFA President, Michel Platini, said:
“This marks the start of a new era in European football. Financial fair play is a top priority for
UEFA in order to achieve more transparency and guarantee equality in our competitions. I am
confident that the CFC Panel will enhance the credibility of the club licensing system and with the
introduction of financial fair play the work of the CFC Panel will be vital if we are to help preserve
the stability and health of European club football in the medium to long term.”
Newly-appointed CFC Panel Chairman, Jean-Luc Dehaene, said:
“Throughout my career I have been confronted with challenges and bringing a degree of financial
order to European football is certainly a challenge. However, together with my newly-appointed
colleagues, I am confident that we will be able to monitor and oversee the financial fair play
system that will ultimately lead to a more stable financial regulation of European football.”
The tasks of the CFC Panel are to ensure that the UEFA club licensing system is applied
correctly across all 53 UEFA member associations and that clubs have fulfilled the criteria defined
in the UEFA Club Licensing Regulations.
Furthermore, the CFC Panel will also form an essential part in implementing and assessing the
financial fair play concept, which was unanimously approved by the UEFA Executive Committee
earlier this year in September. As such the CFC Panel will have an important role in helping to
improve the financial fairness in European competitions and the long-term stability of club football
across Europe, combined with the aim of stimulating long-term investment (youth development
and upgrading of sporting facilities) over short-term speculative spending.

quote-And finally, a £15M debt they owed to a group subsidiary was 'waived'. Gosh.

where did you see that? That would make a huge difference, wouldnt it. Is that legal by scotland's greatest entrepreneur?

LOL

The difference between Murray and rest is that they mainly separated their main business concerns from their hobby. Murrays vanity has proved his downfall. It´s not a new story think Maxwell. EPL teams also get parachute payments if they fail.

St Stivs FP

Well noticed.

The world of football is changing.

Awe Naw

in an effort to instigate reconciliation, I offer this nugget, oft cited but never tiresome -

"for every fiver they spend, we'll spend £10"

The Battered Bunnet

I noticed that £15m that was owed to a subsidiary in the 2008 accounts when having a look at them yesterday. Have no idea what it could be but I suppose it's possible that equates to "transfer fees" paid for players coming from Rangers Development Plc (ie Murray Park).

Hope there is nothing dodgy in them doing this?

Mort

The Battered Bunnet
And finally, a £15M debt they owed to a group subsidiary was 'waived'.

So would that mean, without this waiver, they would be reporting a £46m debt and not £31m? Because that's the figure I had calculated last night.

I'm very disappointed today. Thought it would have been worse.
Maybe Uefa can cheer me up later?

SOME HISTORICAL REASONS WHY UEFA SHOULD FINALLY COME DOWN HARD ON THE HUNS.

A history of violence, bigotry, sectarianism, racism and intolerance.
The world would indeed be a far safer and better place without "the people" commonly referred to collectively as "Scotland's Shame"

THE HUNS!

Attacking the Moscow Dynamo players (before the full scale riot) during the 1972 ECWC Final in Barcelona. As Moscow Dynamo coach Konstantin Beskov stated, "We had the advantage and momentum at the end of the game - they were trailing 3-2
- when the Rangers fans broke onto the pitch and attacked our players."
Being called ‘savages’ by UEFA President Gustav Wiedekehr after rioting huns shamed themselves in Barcelona in 1972. In a scathing attack, Mr Wiedekehr angrily stated “ The Rangers fans behaved like savages. We must find ways to keep such people from football stadiums.”
Rioting inside and outside Old Trafford during a ‘friendly’ in 1974, causing the stadium to witness some of the bloodiest violence in it’s history, as bigoted huns attacked and bottled United fans, simply because some of them were Irish.
Trying to start sectarian riots in Dublin before and during a game against Bohemians in 1984, which the huns lost 3-2. Rangers fans attacked police and Bohemians fans outside and inside the ground, until they were beaten back, and forced to spend the rest of the game cowering in fear, as they got a taste of their own medicine. Half of the huns never even made it in the first place, after being thrown off the Liverpool / Dunloghaire ferry for rioting. The ferry was turned back, halfway across the Irish Sea after drunken huns started running amok and fighting with other passengers. The Rangers fans thought it would be a good idea to link up with those other paragons of tolerance Linfield, who were playing Shamrock Rovers the following evening, and wreak havoc in the south of
Ireland. Unfortunately for them, they didn't bank on the spirit of the Irish people who turned their little wrecking jolly, into a day of fear the huns would never forget. Even to this day, Rangers fans experience a cold shiver when asked about their memories of the trip. Most have conveniently chosen to forget
Convicted Loyalist terrorist, and UDA Godfather John Gregg being ambushed and shot dead by fellow Rangers fans in 2003 after returning to Belfast from a match at Ibrox. Gregg, who was sentenced to 18 years after a failed assassination attempt on the life of MP Gerry Adams, was slain by a number of gun-totting masked men wearing Rangers shirts, who then fled the scene in a stolen taxi.
Brutally assaulting sports photographer Eric Craig as they invaded the Hampden pitch after the 1980 Scottish Cup Final. Craig was left deaf in one ear, and with a gruesome dent in his head after he was beaten and struck with a Pomagne bottle 'hurled at him by a Rangers fan.' He also had to undergo an emergency six-hour operation at the Southern General Neurosurgical Unit, and still suffers from headaches and dizziness. He also gave up attending football matches after the huns attack which left him traumatised. As Mr Craig later commented "You can still feel the hatred from these people, even after 25 years. I don't know if they'll ever be able to be cured."
UVF Loyalist Godfather William Taube being murdered at Ibrox Stadium in a revenge attack, on a Sunday night in April, 1999, during a Loyalist [Blue Mist] function. The function was held to celebrate the release of, and was attended by, several Loyalist prisoners from the Maze Prison. Security was provided by Taube's UVF friends, including a leading member of the UVF in Glasgow. Despite this, Taube was attacked and head-butted down a flight of stairs before having his head smashed on the marble flooring of The Edmiston Suite. He later died at Glasgow's Southern General Hospital. In a sworn statement to the Crown Office, a witness claimed he had been threatened with knee-capping if he failed to tell police the attack he saw was 'a drunken accident'. Following the incident, the witness received death threats and now lives in hiding, terrified of retribution. Taube's assailant was chased and beaten up in the car park before managing to flee. He has never been caught.
Members of the BNP arrested for Loyalist agitation and recruitment activity outside Ibrox stadium. The BNP feel they have a natural empathy with the politics of Rankers fans with whom they share certain racist, bigoted, homophobic and xenophobic ideals.
Barcelona 1972 : The only fans in European history not to witness their club receiving the trophy in a post-match presentation. Rankers fans were too busy rioting on the field of play at the time, so the ceremony had to take place.............in a dressing room. Following the match Rangers fans rioted in the streets outside the ground, clashing with Spanish police and causing extensive damage in the city. Rankers fans also vandalised the exterior of the city's Catholic cathedral, which was daubed with sectarian graffitti. Similar anti-Catholic sentiments were expressed on buildings, in later years on visits to the Italian cities of Parma and Turin. The scenes of mayhem and violence caused by rioting huns in the Nou Camp remain some of the most disgraceful ever witnessed at a football match.
Repeated hate-posts on FF containing sickening homophobia, with thread titles like ‘Homophobic And Proud’ and ‘101 Uses For A Dead Gay’. This is in addition to numerous repeated sick posts about injured, dead, or disabled people including Stephen Hawking, Christopher Reeve, Emlyn Hughes, Brian Clough, Jordan’s (the topless model) blind toddler son and many others. The list – in no way exhaustive - extends to Mother Teresa, Harold Shipman’s victims, footballers who have died in tragic circumstances, P & O Ferry drowning victims, the Tsunami victims, and those who died on Piper Alpha. Is no-one immune from these brainless morons ?
The only club in football history to be unable to defend their trophy due to the behaviour of their fans. After the rioting that occurred in Barcelona, Rankers received a UEFA one-year ban from European competition.
Being outed as sectarian bigots by one of their own - fellow Rankers fan, and American tourist, James Armstrong, in 1998. During his tour, Armstrong spent a day socialising with Mark Dingwall and some of the other Loyalist FF keyboard bretheren (SMac, SM, & SJ). He attended the day's match v Kilmarnock at Ibrox (Walter Smith's last home game in charge, which Rankers lost 0-1) after Dingwall had got him a ticket for the Club Deck. After an evening's revelry in the Auctioneer's pub, followed by a trip to the curry house, Armstrong caught the last train back to Edinburgh, where he was staying. Onboard the train, he describes the sectarian singing of his fellow passengers, and how he was disturbed by the bigotry they espoused. "There were about ten other Bears singing drunkenly the entire trip back. 'Hello! Hello! We are King Billy's Boys! We're up to our knees in Fenian blood, Surrender or you'll die!' There were other sectarian songs. The bigotry was disturbing."
Throwing a golf-ball with nails projecting out of it at Peter Grant during the notoriously hooligan-hun mid 1980’s. According to Grant himself, the deadly missile only missed his head ‘by a couple of inches.’
Saying that El Hajj Diouf 'deserved a knighthood' after the disgusting and vile episode when he spat on football supporters. This serial low-life has been warned, fined, and banned numerous times, and is a disgrace to both the footballing fraternity in particular, and the human race in general - unless of course you're a Rankers fan, in which case he's a candidate for investiture.
Funny, the sort of people these huns look up to ?!
The outrage by huge sections of the club's support after Rankers ended their sectarian signing policy - eventually - and signed a Catholic after almost a century. The arrival of the said Catholic was met with protests, derision, boycotts, and the surrender and burning of numerous Season Books. Fans' leaders appeared in television documentaries in later years, proudly displaying their full and unused Season Books, as a result of their continued non-attendance protest at the presence of a Catholic player at the club.
Rioting before, during, and after the notorious Villa Riot game in 1976 where 8000 drunken huns went on an orgy of robbery, violence, and hooliganism which brought Birmingham to a standstill. People's doors were kicked in, pubs wrecked, shops looted, and Villa fans bottled and stabbed as rampaging huns brought an orgy of drunken violence and terror to Birmingham. Hooligan huns without tickets broke down the gates of the Holte End, and rampaged onto the terracing attacking the Villa fans with bricks and bottles. The violence was so serious that it was reported live on World Of Sport just after kick-off, with Dickie Davies warning Villa fans not to go into their home end for the threat of being attacked. The game was marred by dozens of rampaging fights as drunken huns attacked the home fans, and was eventually abandoned at half-time in the interests of crowd safety - with the huns typically on the losing end of the 2-0 scoreline.
Using child abuse as a cheap weapon in a tawdry point-scoring exercise, whilst seeking to slander the memory of Jock Stein. A sickening t-shirt stunt was planned which sought to denigrate Scotland's most successful manager, at the expense of innocent children who were the victims of a heinous crime.
Thankfully, those in charge of the club recognised that particular cancer in time to exterminate it's malignant influence, by threatening life bans for any degenerate perverted enough to carry out their twisted plan. The stunt was no empathy for those who suffered abuse - it was a way of using their suffering to fabricate lies about someone who isn't here to defend himself. Psychologists call it the 'Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance' whereupon one seeks to denigrate another in order to make themselves feel better, and tries to justify their actions by a twisted rationalisation that their victim 'deserved it.' It was the same tactic that the Nazis used on Jewish holocaust victims, and is the same reasoning that wife-beaters use to justify their cowardly violence, in their own minds. The intentions of the deranged low-lifes at Ibrox was to try and tarnish the status of a footballing giant, whilst wading in a cesspit filled with the remnants of human suffering and broken lives. What could be any lower than sullying the reputation of a dead man with lies and fabrication, at the expense of children who were the victims of a heinous crime. This truly is the lowest of the low - and another benchmark for these vile reprobates.
The sectarian murder and homicidal violence perpetrated on Celtic fans, by Rankers-supporting bigoted maniacs. Once investigated and convicted, the perpetrators have often been found to have grown up in an anti-Catholic environment that encouraged sectarianism and division along football and religious lines. One of these thugs, Jason Campbell (who murdered Mark Scott in 1996) is the son of a convicted Loyalist UVF terrorist. He is also a diehard Rankers fan, and was defended during his trial by the Rankers FC Vice-Chairman Donald Findlay QC - himself later forced to resign after a shameful sectarian hate incident. In 1998 Findlay also defended another Rankers-supporting, Loyalist thug, Thomas Longstaff (who cut the throat of Sean O’Connor) is an almost copy-cat attack to Campbell’s. Police later admitted, that in the two-year period between these attacks, 38 similar assaults had taken place in the area, all directed at Catholics or those wearing Celtic colours. The learned Mr Findlay was happilly singing his hate anthems on the same day in May 1999 that 16 year old Thomas McFadden was being stabbed to death by two Rankers fans in Govanhill after they watched the huns play at Hampden. His ‘crime’ was to be wearing a Celtic top. Also in 1999, Carl McGroarty, was shot in the chest by a bolt fired from a crossbow as he left a pub wearing his Celtic top. On the same day, another young Celtic fan, Liam Sweeney was stabbed repeatedly after leaving a Chinese takeaway. His green jersey and the calling of his name to collect his food order was enough to identify him as a Catholic from an Irish background. Later the same evening in Ayrshire, three young Celtic fans - one female - were viciously attacked by a large mob of Rangers fans. All three were hospitalised, one of the men had receiving horrific head injuries, and the other a broken jaw. In 2003, Celtic fan Thomas Loughrey was stabbed to death by James McCormick in an unprovoked attack in Pollokshaws. Thomas had made the fatal error of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, as McCormick – high on drink and drugs, took offence to his Celtic top. In October 2004, Ian Gray was stabbed to death by convicted thug Brian Cooper after he had spent the day getting acutely more drunk after watching an Orange Walk, and then attending a match at Ibrox stadium. Cooper, who received ten years for his act of bigoted murder, admitted sectarianly abusing Mr Gray, before striking him with a wine bottle and repeatedly stabbing him in the back. How many more innocent Celtic fans are to be butchered before something is done to curtail these sectarian animals – and the hatemongers who defend them ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Having 15 hooligan fans jailed in September 1999 by a Dutch court after they were convicted of mobbing and rioting before, during, and after a European tie with PSV Eindhoven. The hun thugs - all from Scotland - were convicted by the court in Den Bosch, and sentenced to periods of imprisonment ranging from 4 weeks to 24 weeks. Afterwards, they were immediately deported upon release. No one likes them – they don’t care !
Being so sectarian that they've had a play dedicated to them because of their bigoted and anarchic perceptions of society. In James Barclay's 'The Bigot', Loyalist, Royalist, Rankers fan Andra Thompson is the sash-wearing embodiment of a typical west of Scotland hun, who worships Rankers, Ulster, Ian Paisley,
The Orange Order, The Freemasons, and The Royal Family. At the same time, he hates Catholics, Celtic, Irish people, and anything green in general. The play is an accurate depiction of a hackneyed and twisted old sectarian dinosaur from days gone by, still applying those same tired old bigoted concepts to every second of his waking life. It is a scathing social comment and a damning indictment on a huge percentage of the Rankers support, and how they continue to conduct themselves. Despite the advancement of society, they continue tolive their lives i n a bigoted and intolerant manner as if they were still living in 'the grand old days of yore'. In Scotland the clocks go forward an hour every year - unless you're a Rankers fan – in which case they go back three hundred years !
The repeated sight and sound of numerous thousands of Rankers fans racially abusing the players of opposition teams, simply because they are black. This behaviour is widespread, blatantly obvious, and as yet unpunished by those who administer the ticketing of Rankers fans. This inaction is viewed by many as tacit complicity.
Starting a FF thread on the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's assassination to praise psychotic murderer Mark Chapman for 'cooly pumping 5 bullets into him'.
Added posts went on to denigrate the victim's memory, whilst praising and showing appreciation for the cold-blooded killer who murderered him. Not to be outdone, further posts went on to heap praise, and urge others not to forget, 'the sterling work done by' other deranged assassins including 'Lee Harvey Oswald and Sirhan Sirhan', who assassinated John F Kennedy and his brother Robert.
The disgusting and blatant sectarian abuse by Rankers fans towards Celtic player Neil Lennon. The player has been victimised, brutalised, assaulted, had his property vandalised, and most sinister of all, has had his life threatened. All of these incidents have come from persons later proven to support, or have links to Rankers FC, or have had blatant Rankers connections. How serious need this get before something is done about the cancerous hatred of these people ?
The club being forced to refrain from playing a popular chart song over the Ibrox PA system at matches due to Rankers fans hijacking it, distorting the words, and turning it into a sectarian club anthem. The song was later to be repeatedly sung by tens of thousands of Rankers fans for numerous seasons, dispelling the myth that Rankers cancerous sectarian hate was simply the practice of ‘an unrepresentative minority.’ Indeed, if this was the sectarianism of their minority, heaven knows what depths their majority would sink to.
The persistant and widespread mobbing, looting, and fighting by Rankers fans whenever they attend Away matches involving Rankers FC. A recent, but by no means exhaustive list includes : Munich, Rotterdam, Birmingham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Fulham, Liverpool, Bucharest, Paris.......... The above is an obvious reason why Rankers are exceptionally rarely invited to play in testimonial and friendly matches.
Rankers fans being involved in widespread violence and sectarianism during a European tie in July 1998 in Liverpool. The match - against Irish club Shelbourne - had to be moved to a neutral ground (Tranmere Rovers / Prenton Park) because club officials knew that the sectarian Rankers fans could not be trusted to travel to Ireland without the genuine fear that they would cause mayhem and injury – if not murder (See Bohemians 1984). It so proved that they couldn't be trusted to travel to England either, where they had to be baton-charged by more than 150 fully clad riot police, as they tried to attack the Irish fans. Amidst mopping up the carnage that Rankers fans caused - including smashing the windows of the Shelbourne FC team bus - Liverpool police commented that Rankers fans would never again be allowed to freely roam the city. If they ever again, did have cause to visit the city, severe policing restrictions would be applied. This has later been proven to be the case as numerous English cities have faced severe alcohol licensing restrictions when Rankers are scheduled to play there. The above is another obvious reason why Rankers are exceptionally rarely invited to play in testimonial matches.

The embarrassingly shameful booing and vitriolic hounding of Shota Arveladze by his club's own fans, because he had the temerity to bless himself before entering the field of play, during a recent trip to play Linfield in Ireland.
For good measure, the Catholic-hating, sectarian, Loyalist hate-mongers of Linfield abused him as well.
Printing the personal details in a Rankers fanzine of those certain people suspected of having handed the ‘Donald Findlay’ video tape over to the meeja.
The inference was that most fellow huns wouldn’t be too bothered if ‘some harm’ befell the culprit(s).
Having three hooligan fans jailed for 20 months each in March 2004, after they brutally attacked an Aberdeen fan in Glasgow as he returned there to catch a train following a Scottish Cup tie in Dumfries. Video footage showed pedestrians diving for cover and the fight was only stopped when police arrived. Damning the Rankers hooligans, Sheriff Linda Ruxton said jail was the only option in the interests of the public. "This was an incident associated with football violence, which brought about a serious disturbance. It took very little to lose control and, as a result, you behaved like hooligans. It must have been a frightening experience for those that were witnesses. Your actions made Glasgow city centre a very dangerous place. Public interest demands that a custodial sentence must be passed."
The shameful desecration of silence tributes to football legend Sir Matt Busby - because he was a Catholic - and assassinated President John F Kennedy for the same reason. Not even the dead are immune from sectarian vitriol it would appear.
The shameful displaying of Loyalist paramilitary banners by sectarian Rankers fans, who glorify those convicted of sectarian murder, and that mock the deaths of their victims. Banners have also been flown denigrating the memory of deceased Celtic players, and of a young Catholic man (Robert Hamill) who was kicked to death by a sectarian hate-mob wearing Rankers shirts. To recreate the assault in which this young man died, sick Rankers fans invented a terracing dance called 'the bouncy' in which they emulate the sickening attack. This was later revealed as being so on FF when a poster admitted to ‘joining in the celebration of the death of a Catholic.’ This act represents a hatred and a depravity that is hard to quantify.
Having Rankers fans describe the terrorist attacks in New York on September 11th - and in particular the deaths of hundreds of NYPD & NYFD members - as 'deserving' because some of these brave citizens may (or may not) have been part of the pipe band that welcomed MP Gerry Adams to the USA.
Rankers fans deliberately aiming and setting off a pyrotechnic firework in the direction of the Family Section at Celtic Park in October 2002. The device, which police described as ‘a large firework which contained a smaller series of firecrackers’ was set off in an act of blatant hooliganism, with a blatant disregard for the children and families who were seated there. Thankfully no-one was seriously injured by this wanton act of thuggery.
Convicted sectarian, drug-using, drug-dealing, thieving, receiving, criminal-damaging, knife-carrying, fraudulent, car stealing, electronically-tagged, vandalising, burgling, fire-raising, peace-breaching, disqualified-driving, neighbour-from-hell, Lotto thug Michael Carroll who is Rankers daft and their self-confessed 'greatest fan'. Carroll, who has over 50
convictions for almost every kind of degenerate sociopathic disorder recently invested £1million in the club he most identifies with, and which he feels most at home in. A neighbour (Ruth Leeks) who recently collapsed with an asthma attack due to the toxic fumes caused by one of Carroll's customary caravan bonfires, commented 'I feel sorry for the guy because he's obviously so stupid that he has a screw loose and needs help'. As she said this, Carroll and his tattooed hoardes were busily obstructing firemen who had been called to extinguish yet more of his toxic-plumed handiwork.
The repeated vandalism of the Away support section at Celtic Park following a 'visit' by Rankers fans. Although Celtic FC refuse to discuss the cost of repairs, it is believed to run into thousands of pounds for each and every game. The fact that all damage is then has to be paid for by the very club they claim to ‘support’ seems totally lost on these reprobates.
Numerous arrests and subsequent detention of a number of Rankers fans who fraudulently tried to pass off counterfeit Euro currency in Stuttgart before a recent European tie. They were later convicted and sentenced to various periods of imprisonment, bringing further shame on an already notoriously thuggish and hooligan criminal support.
Rankers fans causing a near-riot on the stadium concourse at Ibrox after the refreshment stalls were found to be offering green and white straws (part of an assortment) to customers. Threats of violence and sectarian abuse were hurled at junior catering staff before police and stewards were called in to restore order. Because of this incident, there are now no green and white straws anywhere to be seen at any of the Ibrox vending stalls. Who says the bigots aren’t in control ?!
Using 120 forged tickets to gain entry to a league match at Celtic Park and stealing the seats of fellow Rankers fans, leaving them locked out and unable to see the game. There is nothing much lower than stealing from your own people. Possessing no morals whatsoever, the thieves – incredibly - later tried to shift blame for their dishonesty by suggesting that Celtic FC were responsible for not preventing them from gaining fraudulent access in the first place. As CS Kevin Smith (Match Commander) pointed out “The match saw a number of Rankers fans with genuine tickets turned away because other, so-called, fans entered the stadium with forged tickets. Every person entering with a forged ticket deprives a genuine fan with an authentic ticket of the chance to get in.” Are there no depths to which these gutter-scum won’t sink to ??
Being branded ‘shameful’, ‘filth’ and ‘ a disgrace’ by Bobby Robson after a pre-season match at St James’s Park where they persistantly abused Alan Shearer to such an extent, that Robson took him off the park. Robson later commented that he had plied his trade for decades, in numerous countries around the world. This was the first time he had experienced such malice, on such a vile scale, and the first time he had ever felt needing to take one of his players off the field of play. Yet another ugly first for the gutter-scum who support Rankers. Seems the hypocritical hate-mongers only love Engerrlunnd when it suits them.
Rankers fans continued and repeated racial and sectarian abuse of Neil Lennon over two adjoining fixtures which prompted Martin O’Neill to publically comment on his utter disgust at the situation. Despite condemnation from the media, politicians, and the wider Scottish public, Rankers refused to condemn their bigoted and sectarian fan-base who continue to bring shame on their club. On the very day Martin O’Neill’s comments were reported in the media, he himself was viciously abused by the Ibrox hate-mongers during a match with Austrian minnows Grazer AK. Hollow claims from the Ibrox hierarchy that any abuse was made by ‘a minority’ were publically dispelled when a near full house was broadcast on live television heard to repeatedly abusing Martin O’Neill as ‘a Fenian bastard’. Later, and displaying a deporable ignorance of the facts, not to mention a typical and wholly predictable display of Ostrich Syndrome, David Murray attempted to claim that ‘generalisations of Rankers fans as racist bigots, were inaccurate’. In his view ‘the vast majority of Rankers supporters are decent, respectable people’. Pity none of them were amongst the 50,000+ that were inside Ibrox that night, Mr Murray – or perhaps you just need to take your head out of the sand. Having said that, when you’re drowning in a sea of debt, the bigot’s pound is as good as any, eh ?!
A Rankers fan (Derek Hume) being arrested and charged with verbally abusing Bobo Balde in a racist and sectarian manner during a game at Ibrox. At the same match another Rankers fan (Alan Martin) was arrested, charged, and later plead guilty to verbally abusing Momo Sylla and Bobo Balde in a racist and sectarian manner. He also admitted making ‘monkey noises’ and shouting racist abuse.
Rankers fans attacking a Glasgow Merchant City bar (Locomotiv) filled with Celtic fans and pushing two of them through a plate glass window. The thugs, many of them with Rankers scarves pulled up over their faces were caught on CCTV attacking the bar, throwing bottles and missiles at it, and attacking the customers inside it by punching and kicking them, whilst chanting sectarian songs. Another blatant example of the hate-filled, sectarian hooligan culture that pervades those who support Rankers.
Having a list of ‘famous’ fans that includes human pig-sty Andy Fordham, Scotlands unfunniest man Andy Cameron, convicted Lotto thug Michael Carroll, washout junkie bigot Martie Pellow, and Shellsuit Bob from no-mark telly show River City.
Sectarian abuse being hurled at four Catholic priests in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis by local hooligans wearing Rankers tops. The priests were warned to leave the island ‘before they were cremated’. One of the priests (Father Paul Hackett) was later mailed a death threat before his parish (The Church Of The Holy Redeemer) was burned to the ground as he slept. Other preists were threatened with ‘having their throats slit’ and ‘being strangled’. It would appear that in the minds of some hate-filled bigots, merely being a Catholic is justifiable grounds for execution.
Organising a poll on FF to canvas support in order to get the telecommunications company Orange to become Rankers new kit sponsors. Posters were asked to sign their vote of approval – many did. Another blatant display of Rankers inextricable links with Loyalism, and the Anti-Catholic Orange Order.
British Transport Police having to board a train in Ayrshire after Loyalist thugs returning from a Rankers game began vandalizing the carriages after having subjected the terrified occupants to mile upon mile of sectarian bigotry and drunken thuggish behaviour. Two young male passengers on the train were also assaulted. A number of arrests were made before the passengers were allowed to resume their journey, grateful in the knowledge that their safety now wasn’t quite so precarious.
Starting a near riot at Pittodrie in a brawl with Aberdeen fans that caused many people to be injured before riot police had to be called in to take control. As stated in The Telegraph " Trouble began when fans in the Rangers section hurled coins and bottles at Aberdeen's Robbie Winters as he prepared to take a corner kick. The home fans invaded the pitch to confront their rivals. Rangers followers tried to meet them half way, but were prevented by 50 police officers in full riot gear. The referee took both teams off and the match was held up for 17 minutes. Nine supporters received minor injuries, two requiring hospital treatment. Police made 13 arrests before the game and one during it, and others were ejected from the ground."
When canvassed for their opinions on how the Unofficial Rankers fanzine 'Follow Follow' could be better improved for the fans, the following were some of the most popular replies : naked page 3 girls, a porn section, a 'faggot' section for all the weirdos and gays, naked female Rankers fans photo section, a section on football thugs and violence, a gossip column. Nice to know their readership are real football fans, who are interested in the genuine issues that affect the club.
Racially abusing two Muslims in Stuttgart Airport, shouting at them : ‘You murdering c**ts shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a f**king airport.’
Numerous members of Rankers much trumpeted ‘anti-sectarian’ joke mob The Blue Order being arrested for both sectarianism and overt rascism. Far from discouraging bigotry, these resident hate-mongers have been a catalyst for it’s expansion. The most recent exploits of this ‘family friendly’ environment include members being arrested for calling Mark de Vries a ‘n*gger bastard’ during a recent match –v- Hearts at Ibrox. So cancerous is the environment created by these bitter individuals that the club has had to resort to planting undercover stewards within their designated seating area to try and quell the intimidating and malicious atmosphere. To date, numerous members have been arrested, ejected, warned, or banned. If that’s what goes on in their much trumpeted ‘anti-sectarian’ section, one shudders to think what goes on in their
sectarian sections.

OH! AND THEN THERE WAS MANCHESTER.

"Rangers Football Club - an occasional embarrassment and a permanent disgrace."

The Battered Bunnet on November 12, 2009 2:04 PM
"And finally, a £15M debt they owed to a group subsidiary was 'waived'" - is this correct? Are they allowed to do that? Have Lloyds agreed to this? If this was included how bad would there debts actually be? Are they insolvent?

Celtic First,

to be honest, I was just lurking on the UEFA site hoping for breaking news on der hun.

Interestingly their "most read" item is the release on Rangers being charged.

Also, looking at the list of names on the CFC panel, I can see someone on the darkside right now tracing their backgrounds to determine how many are lets just say for or against der huns.

Hands up, I cant help but be a critic of our short term financial planning cycles, but maybe there is more to our own good goverance in light of Mr Quinn being on this panel.

Other measures coming maybees ?

Will the vote be published with regards to which way each club voted?. It would be nice to know who only wants the hoops when it is testimonial time, we should think long and hard about future invitations. If we are defo signing the Korean bhoy?, wouldn't it be a good idea to get him over, maybe 3/4 weeks before he signs and get him training with his future team-mates and be ready for 1st Jan.I don't think we would be breaking any rules on this. HOPE EUFA HAMMER THE HUNNNNNS.

The quote from the FAPL doesn't look very promising-

"The clubs welcomed the additional input into an ongoing process, however, they were of the opinion that bringing Celtic and Rangers into any form of Premier League set-up was not desirable or viable."

If I'm reading it right, they are going to look into Gartside's two tier proposal without the posibility of Celtic joining.

Now the terms of the FAPL TV deal for 2013/14 onwards will be conluded early 2012 - doesn't give us much time, if we aren't even part of the review.

SO

Unless the FAPL have an implosion of Ibroxion magnitude in the next couple of seasons - this is a No-goer 'til 2018!

If you remember, SDM had the sheer brass neck to call those of us questioning his business acumen as "amateur economists".

Say it all about him and that whole cadre of "professional economist" chancers behind most of our banks and investment companies ...

FF

Are we saying that if they had not waived the £15M debt then they would be insolvent?

If so then that is why it has been waived.

As even the banks or the Sec. of State of Scotland cannot make an Insolvent Company Solvent, por cierto.

Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo

Thanks. I was having a boring day at work and thought to start a wee debate. Probably wrong subject matter as I guess fairly obvious the mess minty has got the shame into !!

An interesting extract:

"but the costs at 77.2% (2008 - 53.3%) as a percentage of turnover"

Clearly this is an alarming percentage!

I dont see any real positive news for Rangers today & take the potential takeover news with the contempt it deserves....clearly a smokescreen orchestrated by SDM to deflect attention from some pretty poor financial reuslts.

The average supporter will not be wholly concerned with the financial results due to lack of knowledge (not meant to be a derogatory remark...just an honest reflection)& will wait for the red top papers & Derek johnstone to digest the info & water down the true seriousness of the figures.

There is no takeover imminent & no bid can be made without an announcement to the stockmarket to the effect that Rangers have entered talks which may/may not lead to an offer from the club. The previous statement made a few weeks ago does not cover such an event.

Guys, haven't a scooby what the £15M write off refers to, although the suggestion that it could be related to RYD is reasonable.

Didn't affect the debt figure per se, and as the transaction is internal, it's irrelevant to the balance sheet, other than tidying it up a bit.

The bigger issue is the £60M owed to MIH by Murray Sports, dating from the 2005 share issue, due payable in the event of the sale of MSL's shares in Rangers. That'll be a sore one for the bank and smaller MIH shareholders to swallow, because there is hee-haw chance that MSL will get anything like that for it's 34%.

bbc interview with their chairman

Does the 'Florida billionaire' exist? 7.00

UEFA has selected a team of independent experts to monitor the finances at European football clubs.

UEFA said Wednesday that former Belgian Prime Minister Jean-Luc Dehaene and eight financial, management and legal consultants have formed the Club Financial Control Panel, which can inspect accounts and recommend banning clubs from the Champions League.

They include former Celtic chairman Brian Quinn, who was once the Bank of England's deputy governor.

UEFA president Michel Platini wants the panel to help create "financial fair play" across Europe's 53 football nations.

"This marks the start of a new era in European football," Platini said in a statement. "Financial fair play is a top priority for UEFA in order to achieve more transparency and guarantee equality in our competitions."

Platini believes high spending on player transfers and salaries can't be sustained, and wants clubs to break even on football-related business by 2012.

He has claimed support from billionaire owners Roman Abramovich from Chelsea and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi of AC Milan.

UEFA believes that more than half of Europe's top-tier clubs lose money every year despite lucrative television rights and sponsorship deals.

It wants clubs to stop trying to buy instant success and instead invest in long-term projects, such as stadiums and training facilities for young players.

UEFA's ruling executive voted in September to back Platini's policy and toughen up the system of issuing licenses, which clubs already require before being allowed to enter its competitions like the Champions League and Europa League.

The governing body hopes to publish detailed rules next year that will set clubs a standard of financial management to aim for by 2012, and which will be policed by the new panel.

"I am confident that we will be able to monitor and oversee the financial fair-play system that will ultimately lead to a more stable financial regulation of European football," Dehaene said.

Dehaene's team, which met for the first time Tuesday at UEFA's headquarters, is drawn from eight different nations and composed mainly of academics.

It also includes Jacobo Beltran (Spain), Egon Franck (Germany), Umberto Lago (Italy), Johan Lokhorst (Netherlands), Petros Mavroidis (Greece) and Yves Wehrli (France).

England's representative, Brian Lomax, was managing director of Supporters Direct, a non-profit body that helps fans take a bigger and more democratic role in how their clubs are run.

The positive thing for Ranges in these accounts is that it demonstrates, with the cost reductions they've already implemented, allied to the Champs League revenue, that they will be profitable this year without player sales.

That the profit plus any player sales will go to debt reduction will make it easier to sell them. Throw in some more aggressive cost reduction, and by the end of this season, they will be in lean shape, and most definitely marketable. Rangers are by no means in the grubber long term.

In gifting the title to Rangers last season, we gave them the 'Get Out of Jail Free' card. The alternative outook would have been untenable.

Damo

I have this mental image of Derek Johnston pouring over the financial accounts in his bedroom, with a calculator by his side, but unable to find the 'on' switch!

TBB

if they are disciplined the same way as Feyernoord were in 2007 then no CL money for this year and next year.

Hail Hail

Can anyone enlighten me on this?.

If according to the accounts, "but the costs at 77.2% (2008 - 53.3%) as a percentage of turnover" are they not now very near being unable to meet their Monthly commitments.

They most certainly wont be able to increase overdraft to facillitate cashflow problems.

TBB - "and an alarming increase in payroll tax and VAT liabilities."

This is where the house of cards could come down. The bank will want to keep Rangers alive as if they fell they would likely take MIH with them causing the bank to be nearly a £1billion in the hole. (the vice versa of course applies)

However one man you do not want to owe money to is the tax man...he will bring you down without remorse.

Wouldn't the irony be delicious if it was a representative of their beloved crown that dealt the killing blow?

I was with you until you mentioned "bedroom". At that point some vomit filled my mouth...

From my previous post what I am asking also is
where does their immediate cash, day to day, come from.

If the Match Day takings are all owned by subs of MIM.

Just a thought on the "Gartside Plan"... I wonder if he would consider floating "Gartside Plan B", the one which involves just Celtic being invited to join EPL2?

There would be less opposition as the "rightful place" in this setup of only one English club would be jeopardised... and they would avoid the hooligan and sectarian baggage: No Rangers = No Thuggery; ...and there would be nobody to provoke the less desirable element of the Celtic support into their unsavoury repertoire. So a cleaner solution all round.

I don't really understand debt, but as long as it's Rangers debt I'm happy. By the looks of it next year will be worse, and it may be that they may not have a buyer even by then. The Algerian international will not play again for them in my opinion, and will be sold asap. One million would buy him as a giruy. However, since Celtic were fined £25,00 and put on probation for a) an idiot running onto the pich and b) a plastic bottle thrown at Milan. The Board should look at any punishment being made to fit the crime. What price a plastic water bottle against myriad seats being thrown? Cities ransacked against a numpty running onto a football pitch? The board need to be pushing the SFA and EUFA as hard as they can, not out of vengeance, but a determination that there should be an open playing field, in reaction to refereeing decisions and supporter behaviour.

Egon Franck, Germany - could be a trick appointment, a token hun if you like, lets check if any connections with our Hamburger freinds

Umberto Lago, Italy - why bother even asking, Opus Dei member and the unseen hand

Johan Lokhorst, The Netherlands - refering for background checks

Brian Lomax, England - MD of Supporters Direct ! a non profit making body for fans, whits that all aboot, must be a socialist, ergo another tim

Petros Mavroidis, Greece - Greek Orthodox, just as bad as being a tim.

Brian Quinn, Scotland - Ignore his Timmy name Sligo descent, lets be impartial for a moment, and Just cos he was in charge of the Bank of England doesnt mean he knows how to tell us how to manage our finances, I mean what else has this guy ever done ,

"Neither desirable nor viable"! No that is not the Stock Exchange analysis of Rangers FC, but rather the reponse of the EPL to the part of Phil Gartside's proposal that would have admitted both Celtic and Rangers. No surprise there then.

Bougherra has 4 games to go before he reaches 50 appearances.

He has been rewarded for going AWOL with a 4 week holiday due to him being on International duty this summer .. as he himself has stated .. he has also stated that he will no be leaving Rangers until the summer.

I am sure he has been fully debriefed on his own situation with his employer and his employers situation and his employers employer situation and his employer employer situation with Lloyds.

Unfortunately for Rangers he is not going anywhere. Africa cup in February and World Cup in the summer. If he does not want to go then he will not be going anywhere and LLoyds can take that to the bank.

Have you seen the little piggies crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies life is getting worse,
Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies in their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies stirring up the dirt,
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

In their styes with all their backing they don't care what goes on around,
In their eyes there's something lacking,
What they need's a damn good whacking.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies living piggie lives,
You can see them out for dinner with their piggie wives,

While I'm more than aware that turnover isn't really an accurate measure of much. Rangers' turnover is now similar to Wigan's and got bit lower than Middlesbrough the next nearest, and set to fall.

Currently only Stoke, West Brom and Hull (not confirmed) had lower turnovers than Rangers.

Battered Bunnet,

I agree that the club is viable long-term, however sharp cost reductions would be primarily achieved with the sale of a number of the curent playing staff. Unfortunately (for Rangers) with the introduction of certain board members who are associated with a major creditor, significant pressure could applied if any offer for their key players is submitted, regardless of the clubs valuation.
Moreover, the Club is not in a great position to engage with prospective strip sponsors for season 10/11 with existing negativity.

The above could have an impact on matchday ticket sales, hospitality & most imprtantly; on field success.

While I'd like to have a relaxing gloat it seems to me, most surely a NON financial expert, our next set of accounts (with the important exception of debt level) will be similar to the Huns to the extent of also showing a loss (£3m+?).

Clearly the CL money is the means of producing income to enable the club to cover and perhaps significantly exceed it's expenditures thereby building a fund of money for future player investment.

The major European clubs which always qualify take this as guaranteed income. Celtic benefited from our recent 3 CL entries and the stupid loss of the title last season was a heartbreak in more than just playing terms. The Europa League was never going to match the CL but our poor showing has affected attendancies, and taken all hopes of an extended run and dashed them. Our income from this source will be tiny.

If we blow it again, despite our low debt, we will be grubbing around in the lesser players pool for purchases. Even though Rangers will have no money to spend the net effect will be not that much different - there will not, I fear, be a huge gap in the quality on the pitch. Our directors will choose not to spend to protect the balance sheet while Rangers will not be allowed to spend.

Certainly I'd rather be in our financial position rather than theirs but I don't see evidence we can make that count where it matters - on the pitch.

Anybody prepared to state with certainty we will definitely win the league this season? The conundrum: Buy and win the SPL / buy and fail to win the SPL .

So let me get this straight, a secret billionaire is going to arrange a bridging loan to enable Rangers debts to be run down over two years. Secret billionaire will own 100% of the company. After which 15000 secret Rangers supporters are going to come up with another £30 million which will be given to secret billionaire who will hand over 50% of the shares. Oh, and he will keep 50% for himself. In this scenario Sir David Murray gives away his shares for nothing. Whatever are they going to come up with next, Donald Trump is going to spend £1 billion building a golf course up in the Grampians?

I stopped posting a long time ago on the matter of Celtic joining an English league: the pea-soup fog generated by scores of wishful thinkers made it pointless.

However, today’s announcement by the English Premier League does mean that there might be a small window of opportunity for rational thought before the next relapse into self-delusion, so … let’s face a few facts.

 There is no possibility, that is no possibility whatsoever, of Celtic joining the EPL or any conceivable development of the EPL, unless and until it falls into a potentially fatal financial crisis. And even then, we’d find the inevitable strong political-legal/policing resistance very difficult to overcome.
 The prospects of such a catastrophe are vanishingly small.
 The ‘Atlantic League’ idea is just as unlikely of achievement, and in any case fails to convince as a proposition for generating significant increases in income.
 Scottish professional football is blighted by the huge imbalance in income (and all other resources) between the two big Glasgow clubs and the rest. This imbalance is entirely different in scale and permanence to that in, for instance, England.
 Celtic FC is the only football institution in the country that makes serious money from playing the game.

It seems as clear as day to me that our only hope of medium-term survival is to take a leading role in supporting and re-balancing the Scottish professional game. This means specifically:

 re-instituting the arrangements on income that used to prevail in the Scottish League; in particular, the principle that visiting teams take a substantial cut of matchday income (I mean substantial – a quarter or a third of the gate);
 absolutely equal shares of TV, football pools, copyright income etc.
 no dodging / evading these taxes by means of Channel 67, online match streams etc.;
 arranging fixtures so that Celtic and Rangers home games are played on a different day to all other professional matches.

In a sentence: a strongly egalitarian domestic regime.

Long term our future may well lie outwith the Scottish League. However, we are too small and lacking in influence to lead a move towards the full-on European League that would be a transforming environment for us; we have to wait for the revolution and hope we get invited to join the winners. But to get there from here we have to survive, and to survive we need a convincing league structure to function in.

The wise men who founded the first professional leagues in England and Scotland understood this paradoxical truth perfectly well – professional football clubs need to operate in a regulated, redistributive environment. Our sporting rivals are our business partners.

Oh, on another matter for the minute..

Going back a bit here and hate to bring it up again but...

I taped (on v+, not vhs) sportscene on monday night and only got round to watching it last night, obviously just focusing on the highlights of the match at falkirk...

I didn't see the match due to work on sunday, but I heard that McDonald had a goal 'wrongly' chopped off for offside at 3-3?

Can someone clarify this for me - and if so, why sportscene omitted this from their highlights?

Call me paranoid, but why would they fail to show a perfectly good goal in their highlights programme? To protect the referee? To stop complaints? Strange!

Paul,

Today's front page exclusive in The Herald is yet another new low in Scottish journalism. The author, business journalist Simon Bain, should be ashamed of himself. Apart from attempting to give some credence to a laughable piece of spin from Murray on the morning of Mordor's accounts, he claims the identity and the business interests of this mysterious billionaire are known to the Herald. Then why not reveal them? The only reason I can imagine is that he was given the story on an 'off-the -record, no-names' basis. If so,by whom? Murray, Media House or the Billionaire? if so, did Bain seek confirmation from a second source (standard practice)? I doubt it.
I can tell you this; real businesses would never get away with feeding a broadsheet with this tosh.

I'm biased towards mcGeady I admit that but you're right people do forget he is young compared to alot of other misfits in our team and suffers from having too much expectation on his shoulders given no one else in the team can do what he does.

Having watched the team at close quarters for years the main problem is alot of our less talented players see McGeady as the 'get out of jail' card and pass to him when they are in a fix then simply run away from him in the hope that he can beat four players. He rarely gets support and more often than not gets hospital passes from the midfield and forward line.

At present I'd hate to see how bereft of any crreation or talent we'd be were he not there.

FRESH START

That's possible given their involvement in the Champions League and provided UEFA don't kick them out of this years competition. However, their attendances are down this season as well and judging by the amount of bumble-bee tops we see at Celtic Park and further afield I reckon we will have made quite a bit of money on those. Remember that Rangers don't own their own merchandise anymore.

I'd say both clubs will find it difficult but we are in a much better position.

Anyway, today is a day for laughing at Rangers.

Mort

Dinamo zagrebs appeal, unireas charge and the Orc case are all on the agenda so might be just in time for reporting Scotland to bring the exclusive news of uefa punishment. Large fine plus suspended fine. No chance they will get banned docked or made to play behind closed doors.

Down For Sam

I can't answer your question personally, but as I like to help people out I hope this helps

"Before his execution, photographs of so-called "Black Diaries" which the government claimed belonged to Casement were circulated to those urging commutation of his death sentence. The documents, which covered the years 1903, 1910 and 1911, showed Casement to have been a promiscuous homosexual with a fondness for young men.[19] In a time of strong social conservatism, not least among Irish Catholics, the Black Diaries undermined or at least stifled support for Casement. Archbishop Davidson, concerned at the rumours, arranged for John Harris of the Anti-Slavery Society, and a missionary friend of Casement's, to view the diaries; Harris was shattered when he realised they were authentic.[20] The statement found in a number of books (usually without source) that Archbishop Davidson consequently abandoned his attempts to seek clemency is incorrect.[21] The Archbishop made his plea for Casement's life to the Lord Chancellor, Lord Buckmaster, on 1 August, two days before the execution.[22] Though some believed that the diaries were forgeries, much as Charles Stewart Parnell had been the target of the Pigott forgeries implicating him in the Phoenix Park Murders, others did not. H. Montgomery Hyde, an Ulster Unionist Party MP and barrister who campaigned for the release of the Black Diaries in Parliament in the 1950s and who wrote a book on Casement's trial, had no doubt that Casement had been a pederast.[23][24] In 2002, an independent forensic examination of the diaries, commissioned by a team of academics from Goldsmiths, University of London and funded by RTÉ and the BBC, was undertaken by Dr. Audrey Giles, an internationally respected figure in the field of document forensics. Giles compared Casement's White Diaries (ordinary diaries of the time) with the Black Diaries and concluded that the Black Diaries were genuine.[25] American document examiner and expert James Horan later rejected Giles's conclusion on the grounds that the "control" material (the "authentic" handwriting of Casement) taken from the Morel archive at LSE, may have passed through the hands of British Intelligence after Morel's arrest in 1917. Horan's view was that the conclusion would not stand up in a US court. However such a test was not a requirement in the Giles report remit for judging authenticity, and Horan accepted he had not seen any of the material in question.[26]

Roger Sawyer’s 1997 work on the 1910 diary and Jeffrey Dudgeon’s massive and closely footnoted edition of all the Black Diaries in 2002, accompanied by a perceptive and empathetic biographical treatment, went a long way towards integrating Casement’s nationalist, humanitarian and homosexual lives, and Casement's most recent biographer, Séamas Ó Síocháin, accepts their authenticity as a matter of course.[27]

The diaries may now be inspected at the British National Archives in Kew."

FRESH START - "Next year Rangers turnover will exceed Celtic's"

No it won't.....you get £15m tops for CL participation. That would take them to the best they could hope for at £55m. We turned over nearly £73m this year. Worst case scenario Re CL income at £15m that still gives us £58m.

I ask a question while at the same time I know the answer, but why, following the Seville year were we castigated for not spending large, even though I wish we had, and yet Rangers are given the good houskeeping seal of approval.
Media manipulation? naw surely not

That is the first thing that would have to happen for Celtic to not actively agitate towards leaving the confines of Scottish football.

Surprised you never mentioned that maybe too long in England ?

Until they get that everything you mentioned is pointless. IMHO

I agree with a lot of what you say there on mcgeady
He has become what di canio was in the 90s, opposition used to say how the celtic players relied to heavily on di canio and used him as a get of jail card, pass the buck type scenario. i feel mcgeady has become that

i do think his style needs to be more effective though and that will come as he develops. Against hertz in the cup at parkhead, his direct running at the opposition, carrying the ball at pace under control into dangerous areas, was a joy to see and i think he should do this more; Jinking aroudn the wing has its place too but i thought he was excellent that night - similar to benfica game and i would like to see this part of his game develop to become the mainstay. powerful and direct, commiting defences in dangerous areas -

Scott Brown tries to base his game on this style but he doesnt have the ball control and often loses it or misplaces a pass. mcgeady can do it!

donegaldanny - I feel the same about Scott Brown (although I think it's time he went). He's just turned 24, which is still young enough to be classed as young. However at the end of the season he'll be 25 which is not. He needs to find his game before the year's out.

McGeady has really only got one more season to prove that he can be the top class player we all hope.

So apparently 6 out of the EPL 20 are now in favour as opposed to 0 last time around? Progress I suppose.
However, this vote is rather insignificant in my view. I seem to remember a majority of English teams voting against the whole idea of a Premier League less than 20 years ago as too many of them feared for their own position. In the end SKY made their minds up for them and steamrollered the whole thing through regardless. Money talked then and it will do so again. Watch this space.
Now come on UEFA, make our day by hitting the Hunz where it hurts most!! Their empty pockets!!

FRESH START

To add to Rogue Leader's post, even when Celtic failed to qualify for CL (2005/06) and Rangers got to the Last 16, their turnover was £61.2m compared to ours of £57.4m. Rangers also had their own merchandise included in those figures which they won't have next year.

Don't worry, we won't be at the level we are now but I'd still expect us to be turning over between £60m and £65m next season.

Mort

Would it surprise anybody if I said Scott Brown is only one goal away from having a better scoring record with us than he did with Hibs?

It surprised me.

DD

Mort,

Do you not think if Rangers do manage to sell off Mc Gregor, Mendes, Bougherra, Davis, Lafferty, Boyd, Thomson, Fleck, Miller, Whittaker pay off Bain, Smith, Mc Coist, whatisname that their financials trend for that year will be bucked ? FRESH_START might have a point....but to be honest I dont see anyone buying any of them

Hail Hail

Awe_Naw

Maybe but if we sell McGeady, Brown or Boruc we'd be even again :-)

BTW, paying off Bain, Smith etc won't affect turnover.

Mort

RogueLeader

Perhaps I shouldn't have been quite so definitive but do remember Rangers Accounts are for a completely barren European year. Beyond the £12m or so they automatically get there are bonus payments (fortunately very few earned!) and of course the match day income. I wonder what profit (or loss) we'll make from our EL efforts?
They also seem to have a knack of staying in the Cup competitions much longer than we do.

You could well be right at the end of the day but the point I was making was that other than debt there is little difference UNLESS we keep winning the league and deprive them of CL.

Where it matters, on the pitch, I dont see us likely to invest in a way to make a serious difference - we won't take the risk.

Therfore if we don't get CL our turnover & profit are hugely affected.

Awe_Naw - even if they did sell them all. How do they replace them within the new cost structure. SPL players and promoted kids. They'd be lucky to get Ibrox half full. So the turnover would be hit that way.

If, as has been suggested, they get cut to an Aberdeen sized budget I'd say that any European football might be at risk for a season or two until they get used to the adjustment.

I almost feel sorry for them.

Mort

You and RogueL are quite right to remind me of the income streams Rangers don't have.

So I accept my T/O prognosis as probably wrong in fact but perhaps valid in degree?!

FRESH START

even if we win the league the bookies will have us as favourites NOT to qualify. So its the EL for both of us I reckon anyway. I´m sure you have read many times before our former chairman the esteemed Brian Quinn saying that we dont budget for European football. Today the new Rangers chairman was saying they NEED it to pay of their debts.

How are they going to get there with a team that is a shadow of the team that played Kaunus ?

We are going to have to make do with EL budgets and cut our cloth accordingly. Rangers dont have that luxury.

I'm still looking for someone who might know the answer to this:
at the January sales, when RFC receive a bid for a player, who decides whether or not the bid is acceptable? Will it be the bank's "representative", or can the existing management say "we're not selling him at that price"?

And will players simply be able to "do a Boydy" and say "Am no goin'"?

FRESH START

I challenge your contention that "they seem to have the knack of staying in the cup competitions longer than we do".

Can we afford to gloat at the debt ridden Rangers ? My understanding is that most of Celtics revenue comes from the fans ie season tickets, merchandise etc. However, the fans are currently unhappy with the entertainment being offered and are voteing with there feet If things dont improve drasticaly on the park an average gate of 30,000 next season will become the norm and revenue will drop while costs will remain the same.We have today seen how much the English clubs want us in the premier league the answer is clear they dont and I dont buy in to the theory SKY will come along and rescue us.We are right at the cross roads as to wither we remain a club who consistantly attract crowds of 60,000 or drop to a club where 25,000 to 30,000 is the norm.I wish I had more faith in the people running the club unfortunately they have consistantly let the fans down.

FRESH START - Agree. The fact we currently have a turnover of darn near double theirs at these accounts, then you look at the teams on the pitch, it is a shambles. Total shambles from top to bottom.

As I have said before I don't think the board have an option but to get at least one big player in in January. The stadium is empty. The team is flat. They are not stupid men. The consequences of them being seen to sit on their hands for another transfer window (whether they do or not according to the stories of the players that got away that is how it looks) will be dire. Very dire. They know they have to get faces in the door in January to lift the club. Not doing so is not an option. What a difference it would make if they got one name in, even on loan. However for me there is one man plying his trade at White Hart Lane who would fit our Captain / goal scorer / big name criteria all in one. It will be down to whether Dermot can find a way to make it happen....if they pulled that one out of the bag it would buy them alot of grace with the fans....

Folly Folly,

Players can always refuse. In those circumstances, there is a need to make it worth their while.

I think realistically, the bank will have a say... but they also have no expertise in valuations around this area so input will have to come from the football club operations.

B

Aw Naw 3:58pm

Why do you think we couldn't qualify for CL if we won the league??

Uefa have made it so much easier for the smaller nations to qualify by introducing the "Champions Route", hence the reason you see some stranger qualifiers this year.

The big problem comes if you don't win your league and will be facing an Arsenal type type to qualify.

Bottom line: Win the league at all costs

Folly Folly,
only clubs with a pot to pee in allow the management to decide what is an acceptable price. That counts Rangers out.
As far as Boyd goes, he can say "Am no goin", but his contract runs out in the summer. If he digs his heels in there is not a chance in hell of it being renewed unless he wants a sizeable pay cut. And I believe he has said that he wants a rise. So RFC will be looking to get anything they can for him in January because come June they will be entitled to nada!
Dontcha just love it??

:-)

RogueLeader - don't forget that you need to compare like-for-like Turnover. RFC's merchandising deal means they only record the profit as turnover - wherewas we report turnover and costs arriving at Profit. The JJB part of RFC revenue is worth, say, £ 4.5m p.a. This Turnover has no associated costs so drops straight to Profit. It equates to somewhere between £ 12m - £ 15m Turnover.

celticrollercoaster / MWD / TTTT / Gordon_J -

Y'all have mail.

Cyrul

Cheers, Bromley.

As I'm sure you figured, I'm simply curious about how the boardroom dynamics will play out as and when offers are received.

I'm sure there will be offers; it is likely that would-be purchasers, realising RFC's current discomfit, will be unlikely to weigh in with a high offers.

By this reasoning, should there be little or no movement by the last few days in January, it may well be that the atmosphere in their boardroom will be tense, to say the least.

For instance, what would the bank's position be in the event that there is no significant turn-over of playing staff ... ?

I'd imagine it is extremely unlikely that they would willingly sit back and wait for the next window ...

FF

What if no one comes in for Boyd, he then has to take whats on offer from his present club or become an unemployed football player and take the next best offer from anyone who may be interested.

I may have got this wrong, but is there not one more season of automatic entry to the group stages still available for this season's SPL Champions?

Por cierto "Turnover is ego"

Folly Folly,

Football is run by whackjobs... it was fairly obvious to all and sundry that rangers have been in poor shape for a couple of years... It didn't stop Spurs offering 9 mill for Alan Hutton.

Frankly rangers would have bitten their hands off for 1/2 that amount.

Afternoon all,

It came as no suprise to me that the EPL2 idea was knocked back. I was told by a journo a month ago who had seen Martin Bain's copy that a 6 year old could have written a better proposal.

It was two pages long and was pathetic apparently.

Make no mistake, the only way we will get in there is if Sky want us there. And this will only happen if the EPL gets as boring as the SPHELL....

so lets hope Man U keep on winning for the next few years until the next deal is up.

Mon the UEFA!!!

Sammi was given offside when he was two yards on!!
Does anyone else think that after a decision is given against us like that one which was to cost us 2 points we should see the players being a bit more vociferous in their protests? There are other teams who surround and argue and chastise the referee. Celtic players seem to just shrug and get on with it, making life very easy for the officials and just as easy for another decision to go against them later. I'd like to see them complaining a bit more!!

you may be right but all Rangers financial revival projections are based on 50,000 attending regularly. Next year I bet it´s less than half of that. I think any prospective buyer is aware of this hence the pathetic seance scene that Alistair Johnson conducted with Howard Hughes yesterday.

I can't say for sure, but its my understanding that the winners of the SPL will be likely to go straight in to the CL proper provided that the winner of this years CL competition has already qualified via the national standings, which is highly likely- i think its just Liverpool in 2005 who would have bucked that trend.

Mind you, under our current manager, I don't think we'll win the SPL...

Big Eck will sign him for a fee of around 500k in Jan to help out his old club or for free in the summer.

Paul,

’Rangers today released their annual accounts....................... Turnover dipped to £39.7m (2008: £64.5m), the lowest in over a decade, with net operating expenses, the cost to run the club before things like transfers and interest, at £48.2m.

Now this is not great news – unless you get some perverse joy in the discomfiture of others:-)

AND

It vindicates what you have been saying for many many moons

HOWEVAH

Is there more to come? They are, as far as I can see at present, in no worse shape than Roy Keane's Ipswich! Ipswich Town made a loss of £10.3 million in the 12 months to June this year, bringing their total debt to more than £35 million as the effects of Marcus Evans's ownership of the club were realised.

Interesting then that the banks aren’t crawling all over Ipswich who are in more debt and their owner has a mere £200Mill!

It should be comparable with R@ngers $ituation who have a 47% Financial Leverage (not great BUT managable) with the main shareholder on paper(s) worth £720 Million.

NOW

Their accounts next year will be better – higher turnover, less outgoings.

SO

Why are they in financial intensive care with Donald Muir on Board?

Methinks what we are seeing is the tip of an iceberg of titanic proportions.

Are they Drip! Drip! Drip! Feeding the bad news?

YouAin’tSeemNothingYetCSC

Cubist Funk - True, but I wasn't doing a straight like for like turnover comparison merely comparing the figures given in both accounts against the assertion that Fresh Start made. The actual apples for apples turnover comparison is irrelevant to the point he was making. Regarding his assertion the main, and significant, difference between the two accounts between this year and next year is CL income.

So whilst you are correct, comparing the flat turnovers is not like for like, in this scenario I think it is perfectly fine to do so.

All,

Guys, these Hun numbers are so shockingly bad that they can only be viewed as a chapter rather than a book, mark my words there are things happening in the background

They have just announced that they have debt at 80% of turnover, and with as yet to be recognised costs to be added they are close to bankrupt

The only way a Company would normally announce numbers like this is as evidence for the need for protection from creditors and a subsequent administration, or, as part of a timeline to being sold

If Uefa were to stick in the boot with a Euro ban, I cannot see any alternative to the failure of the business as a going concern

Is that a ten point deduction I see coming over the hill ?

DD 4:10pm

My point is not how poor the team is at the present, but how much easier it is to qualify.
There is a myth that if a Scottish team doesn't get automatic qualification into the CL then they will face a team from the top 5 nations, this is not the case. The "champions route" would pitch us up against easier teams than Hamburg & Rapid.

Cheer up Danny, we're poor the now and still top of the league, nothing else matters financially for the rest of the season except winning this league.

PenangBhoy/Dougie_Bhoy,
cheers for that. I was sure I'd heard that somewhere. Bad and all as we are surely to GOD we can finish on top of the heap this season? That would net us both the CL Money plus all of the TV money as, let's be honest, can anyone see Lloyds Bank FC getting through the type of qualifying we were faced with this season after their fire sales in January and the summer?
If that carrot is not dangling obviously enough for even OUR Board to recognise then heaven help us.

the long wait is over

There is a stron possibility- see my post at 414pm

RogueLeader

I agree, the board may feel we have enough players of the quality needed to win the league (I also think we do but they aren't playing like it, or aren't being coached/motivated as they should be, but that's a different debate) but it would be foolish to think that the fans will continue to pay to see the team.

I'm not normally one who would say we need to speculate to accumulate but I think in this instance one or two top quality players is a must. We have far too many players on the books at wages they aren't worth and contribute little or nothing to the team.

I would like to see a lot of the fringe players moved out and maybe even a couple of regulars to enable us to spend a bit of money and pay the wages the very best deserve.

If we were to buy a couple of £5m players even if it meant selling to fund these purchases, I think the fans would be more excited and more would come to the games helping with the turnover.

What we don't need is more "future" players as without a meaningful set of reserve fixtures, these players will stagnate and not be worth anything to us in terms of our players or in future transfers.

My list of those to keep would be:

Zaluska
Cervi
Fox
Misun
Loovens
McGinn
McCourt
Zheng Zhi
Fortuné

I would accept offers for the rest and for others out of contract soon, no further offer would be made. I know it seems very ruthless but if we are to attract better players to the club, we are going to have to pay better wages and I'd rather have a core of 20-25 first teamers who are supplemented by our youngsters rather than have 40 first teamers, many who will never make it at this level and to be blunt are just a drain on resources.

I would also like to see the development team (reserves) get far more meaningful matches (but how?) with the aim that if a player hasn't made it to the first team by 20 he is released or sold. Off course there will be exceptions but it's not really fair on the club (to have to keep paying these boys) or the players themselves who will see their development curtailed.

I don't have a problem with the scouts bringing over top talent from across Europe at a very young age but there needs to be a plan on how we deal with these players as we can't have them all here indefinately if they aren't going to make it.

Ok, that was long winded, hopefully when I hit submit I'll see details of Rangers punishment.

We're top of the league by default, the huns have a game in hand that would see them top pf the league at this point had it not been for an act of God! :-)

We are a woeful football side as we were last season and nothing has changed.

I backed BTM 100% and continue to do so although some of his decisions have been ponderous to say the least so far.

My fear is the suits will use the hun predicament and the mythical move to the EPL to yet again neglect the football side of things.

And BTW we are not good enough to challenge teams from outside of the top 5 either just now.

Look at some of the team in the CL who we may meet in the champions route to qualify, teams like Unirea and the mob that beat Barca.

I think I'm right to say in the last two seasons Rangers have been in all Scottish Cup Finals and all League Cup Finals, Celtic have been in one League Cup Final.

We've lost already to Hearts in the LC and in the previous two seasons we lost at Q-final and S-final stages.

Unashamedly lifted from the BBC Scotland news site:

ANALYSIS
By Douglas Fraser, BBC Scotland Business and Economics Editor
A £31m debt for Rangers is big, but not necessarily unsustainable.
The problem is how fast it's increased - by £10m since last year - and how willing Lloyds Banking Group is to keep bankrolling the club.
Of perhaps more significance is the sharp decline in turnover - a 38% drop to just below £40m.
The roller-coaster of football fortunes would be tough for any other company to handle, but this one's problems are crowding in: it's failing to live up to its European aspirations, its kit distribution deal with JJB is "unsatisfactory", and the Setanta TV deal fell apart, leaving it with half its expected TV rights earnings.
After a bumper year in Europe, tickets and hospitality earnings were down by a third in this annual report, commercial earnings by two-thirds, yet the dominant wage bill has fallen less than £4m to a still daunting £30m.
Compare that turnover at £40m with the revenue reported for the same period for Celtic, at £73m.

Financially, that makes it look like the rival clubs are in different leagues.

Can anyone hear the scurrying of rats trying to get off the good ship Dignity??

Just got in to the news of £30M+ debt. Hardly looks good to any potential buyer, does it?

Any news of a UEFA announcement??

Whats the script with this uefa announcement ?? Been waiting all day for this !

Re Rangers accounts, somebody may have asked/answered this qustion before- but looking at their balance sheet they have net current liabilities (

Debtors and cash in bank amount to £7m.

That makes total debt around £68.6m.

Am I misreading something here?

Were like vultures hovering about a wounded animal just waiting to pick the bones clean!

Brilliant isnt it?

Dear John

Thank Ghod we can put it to bed,
the old firm, will now not be wed,
to that vulger old man of a league,
the thought of him, giving us seed.

He would have put us over a chair,
slaked his lust, with hardly a care,
when finished, cast us aside,
with a grin, he barely can hide.

The honeymoon, over in a flash,
when he realised we needed the cash,
take a whip and tan us at leisure,
slaves to his perversion and pleasure.

A close call, we've just been stood up,
no invitation, the table to sup,
been saved but it was a near thing,
a wedding to dance on a string.

Sleep in the bed, that you know best,
make love, just like the rest,
much better the devil you know,
when bending over to suck yer big toe.

WMBT

Don't know what happened there but this should have read-

current liabilities of £40.9m and
long term liabilities of 41.7m;
less debtors and cash in hand of £7m,
total liabilities £75.6m

Well said about the Climate Change fanatics! You are spot on about this being a secular religion. Sadly, even in Catholic schools the kids know more about the theology of the green movement (the other one!) than the theology of their faith.

Breaking News

I have just been told by my good source at UEFA that the UEFA disciplinary meeting been held today has been prematurely cancelled before the Rangers item was dealt with on the agenda. One of the key participants of the disciplinary panel experienced severe nose bleeds. It had been agree beforehand that there would be separate bottles of mineral water for each delegate but when Martin Bain saw only two big bottles that were to be shared. He flew into a rage and threw his chair at the disciplinary panel. The meeting is to reconvene tomorrow

And I didn't even mention the Uefa Cup!

The cardigan has completed a minor miracle in keeping his team winning while stuck together with sellotape. Not pretty but...

You are right about the absolute figures of course but I'm sure Mr Lawell would rather we were earning all through the season, in as many matches as possible. Actually so do I!

I'm not surprised that we were refused the chance to join the premier league. Given the choice would you invite Nacho Novo into your country?

AWE Naw, JUST GONNY NAW?

I know we are all keen on wallowing in their pain - but despite their prediciment we still couldnt beat the bottom of the league on Sunday. Its what we do that matters.
I'll still enjoy their suffering

Exactly!!!!

i enjoy their suffering too and agree that these financials make aboslutely no difference if the huns win the league again

they owed a similair amount of money last year and still won the league, they still got to the CL

Our main job this year to make up for the board/managers errors last year

zero debt on its own has never won a league yet

FRESH START

In the UEFA Cup, this decade, we have been to a final and a quarter-final. Our record is better. That's why the timeframe is important.

I appreciate better what you're saying now, so thanks, but I think to say they have "a knack" of staying in cup competitions longer than Celtic is unfair.

tamrabam

Agreed but the difference was they spent 15 million quid after Kaunas and can't do that now.

No doubt Derek Johnstone will still be pedling the Dave King tosh tonight or tomorrow.

Hope Spiers is on Clyde later then we might get some more balanced talk.

Theres a sense of transfer window about today, getting close to the midnight let down..

Canamalar is just about to be hailed as either a sage and visionary or a complete tool...I wonder which it will be :¬)

What's that coming over the hill is it UEFA? Is it UEFA?

Perhaps the most significant news of the day may turn out to be the announcement of Platini's CFC.

With a former Prime Minister as Chairman and people of the calibre of Brian Quinn on the Board, it appears that this group mean business.

If their remit is to ensure that all clubs live within their football earnings and need to be seen to be doing this, before a licence is issued for European competition, then this will mean that most of the EPL clubs will be in trouble.

Also, if this has to be achieved within a three year time scale, then we may see a major change in the football order.

Perhaps this is the scenario that the Celtic Board anticipated when they embarked on their fiscal prudence policy.

WMBT,

I hear that Gordon Smith has reccomended to Uefa that Rangers be punished with a 50million Euro grant and 5 years ban from needing to qualify for the champions League

I believe he is also to enhance this punishment with a 25 point penalty from the SFA, where by the Hun will be given a 25 point start in the league for the next 5 years

Must be some 'special pleading' going on.

"Oh please, please, I beg you, don't..."

Okay .........

I've been reading here about off-balance sheet financing. It seems to me that a lot of that has been going on in the Murray Group for a long, long time and that it has finally caught up with them. Now, we have a number of financial minds on this site, and this question is very much for them.

Is it likely that Rangers are carrying significant OBS debts, which are able to be hidden as they are listed on the balance sheets of other Murray subsidiary companies, such as Murray Sports or Murray International Holdings .... and how does this scenario gell with the bank playing hardball over their debts?

Any information would be appreciated .... along with a good explanation of OBS financing as I am not even going to attempt to clarify what I've just read!

kojo, seriously?

Wolves Director said on Sky that the reason is thats its the English Premier League. (Swansea ,Cardiff City)

So will they now decide only to play English Players in this League.

I always find that comment a bit hypocritical.

Also doesn't Irsaeli teams play in the CL although not being in Europe.

Off Balance Sheet

The Balance Sheet does not report everything that a company owns or owes and is prone to
financial manipulation. Certain types of “debts” may not be included in the financial statements, but
rather in the footnotes. This is what accountants call Off-Balance Sheet (OBS) Debt, examples of
which include:
→ Leases (specifically Operating Leases)
→ Guarantees
→ Special Purpose Entities (or subsidiaries not included)
→ Contingent Liabilities
OBS Debt must always be added to the Total Debt amounts found on the Balance Sheet to come up with an
adjusted debt number.
Likewise, companies have assets such as patents, trademarks, and research on new products and services
that are not always reported on the balance sheet. Information about these factors often can be found either
in the footnotes to the financial statements or the MD&A. Increasingly, these are the assets that generate
the most value for a company and, consequently, should be reviewed closely.

Kojo:

If that's the case UEFA is going to have to justify itself to Zagreb and other clubs. If it's the case, UEFA will bear much of the responsibility for what happens next, which could include another repeat of Manchester, and perhaps more serious consequences than that. To keep on chiding Rangers when it is apparent even to some in the normally compliant Scottish media that genuine action needs to be taken would be suicidal-stupid.

Their failure to get control of a club's fans out of control led DIRECTLY to the Manchester riot, and their shameful washing-the-hands of that whole event led DIRECTLY to the Romanian incident. Another kid-gloves response makes the NEXT incident inevitable, and I pity the poor people of Seville as I suspect that will be it.

kojo, less of the cryptic guff, spill the beans

Ok, any news then??

Who do you think is awaiting this news more, us or them????

The hardest thing to find in the EPL is an English manager or,for that matter, player.

They are not ready for us yet as they will have to clean up their financial act first.

If that's the committee's decision, UEFA could appeal to have the penalty increased. That's what happened with Feyenoord.

Zeitgeist @ 03:25pm - The problem is that we might be saying in five years time: - "people forget mcgeady is still relatively young which 28 is".

We've been saying for years how young Aidan is, at twenty three it's time for Aidan the man to step forward, I'm getting fed up waiting for the most talented individual at the club showing it consistently, or even relatively inconsistently, not what we see now which is RARELY.

I think Dinamo have been in slightly more trouble than Rangers over the past few years and the trouble in their match resulted in the game being abandoned.

They were also fined €150k in December 08 after trouble in Udinese. This was appealed by UEFA and the decision taken that they would have to play games behind closed doors.

Depends how strongly UEFA feel about the punishment handed down to Rangers. they might appeal the decision themselves.

I know for a nailed on fact that David Taylor and William Gaillard were as thick as thieves. Gaillard accepted everything Taylor said at face value.

I know for a nailed on fact that Taylor through Gaillard got Rangers off the hook at every possible turn. I.e Villareal, Pamplona, Manchester

But Taylor has moved on within the organisation (sideways) and that Rob Faulkner took Gaillard place.

Who is made to come?

Who gets to speak?

What language in?

Will there be interpreters for the white underclass?

Is there a rap sheet?

Is there a schedule of previous convictions?

How many pages does it run to?

And what is the etiquette of the hearing for participants?

Is there a dock?

Are there big beefy polis on hand with handcuffs?

Are there stairs to the cells down which the coterie of the unfortunate miscreant can scream meassges of support ('I'll wait for you Martin!') and is there a raised dias where the committe sit at which coterie can hurl abuse('Atsa disgrace Delaney, youse are all a bunch of timlovers, so yiz are, aye, ah'm going, get yer hauns aff.....')?

If the cells beackon, who gets the huckle? Marty Tan Man? Uncle Walt? David Edgar?

Who gets to see them down there afterwards to commiserate and reassure that, yes, there certainly would appear to be grounds fro an appeal, and yes , we're sure that can be arranged before Easter, but, sadly , interim liberation might be a difficulty in light of previous misconduct and, with further regret, tobacco can't be handed in for reasons of health and safety, but, good news, toileteries can, now, about our fee.....?

Can't believe it. 20k fine. They must be masters at lobbying as that is a result and a half given their past conduct.

I was sure that UEFA would punish them because of Manchester.

I must admit that the mobilisation of the various huns websites recently has had a bit of bite to it. They have recognised the problems that their club face and are frantically, but apparently successfully, intensely lobbying anyone who will listen.

Their ludicrous notion of taking control of Rangers remains that, and that is of substance. However, I can't help but feel they got a result today and will be slapping each other on their orcish, scaly backs.

Which annoys me.

All this ( and the Manchester cop out )does ,essentially ,is tell the maniacs amongst their support that they have licence to behave like animals and get nothing more than a slap on the wrists and, if its outwith the stadium , get nothing at all.

TLWIO

Is this the Punishment ?

Stop Press

Uefa have just announced that they have fined Adolph Hitler 20,000 Euros for starting World War II. He has also been warned about his future conduct.

I can't believe that anyone expected more. The biggest point is that they have been found guilty.

Next time they are in trouble, and the next time will come soon enough.

Watch out how they pretend to make things right by refusing tickets to Seville.

The best news of the day was the EPL decision. An invite would have found them a buyer right enough.

the green white & golden eagle on November 11, 2009 12:56 PM

Apologies for taking over a day to get back to you, sadly the self-employed work situation is so delicate down here I gotta say "how high" when those I'm contracting for say "jump"!

Now, I know after today's decision, some will think our conversation pointless, but I am a man of my word and believe any polite questions should be answered.

do you think the celtic board will release the funds if we get english/sky tv millions to spend?

Yes, I believe that those individuals who have multiple millions of pounds and also have shares in Celtic, would invest heavily in Celtic the minute that we were granted access to English football. They would do so as they would see it as "speculate to accumulate" and realise money would have to be spent to get to the top of the tir in that structure.

do you think they will be as tight as always, maybe spending big on 1 or 2 players then back to the biscuit tin?

I see your point, but sadly I am one of those people who do not understand the whole "biscuit tin" comments. Many call me old-fashioned, but I am of the opinion that you can only spend what you have or what you make. That is not a biscuit tin. That is business.

DD could have dipped into his own billion to help us out a lot more than he has done that is for sure.

I think Mort answered this excellently not long after you posted. In real life, and real business, when you are a PLC it is not as easy as this. Not having a go at you in any way when I say the next bit, but I do wish more people would become aware of these facts.

i am also sure if any 1 of us on here had a billion in the bank then we would have won the champions league by now
(i like dreaming)

Now here I agree with you. But first we would have to buy the club outright, the same as Chelsea, Man City, Birmingham City, etc in order to enable us to own the club and then we could throw as much money at the club as we wish.

Why on earth does that hun on SSN made him think he can talk about Celtic and rangers on TV, with his smug grin he is claiming 'Its ok Sky will decide if Celtic and rangers will be invited to the EPL'

Smug no marks like that with wild claims isnt going to impress anyone.

Coooooeeeee! Canamalar, can we huv a wee wurd?

;)

how can uefa be taken seriously after this. saying that, they are a joke in the first place. same shower of s*** that let eduardo of the hook. disgrace, it's open season for all the thugs accross europe now.

So much for UEFA.

Canamalar, your source was well wide of the mark.

Armageddon outta here.

Thought so!

HAIL! HAIL!

If your total wealth was 20,000 Euros and you were fined 20,000 Euros it would feel awful. If you were in debt to the tune of £31,5 million, another £19,000 or so would seem meaningless. Funny old, world, innit?

PS Anyone feel that if this had happened in a more `important` country than Romania, the penalty would have been more severe?

Feyenoord Quick News is in meltdown over the double standards.

No great surprise at the UEFA decision, but on the plus side, the support of that lovely institution will inevitably act in culturally traditional fashion again, & & again, & again, & will eventually get their dues.

how much did we get for the clown on the pitch?

EN

Agreed, smug git, but he knows they've had a big let off.
With their track record though they will disgrace themselves again.

It is hard - wired into their psyche, all of them, they arra peepel efteraw!

Oh well,
Apologies to all good Celtic supporters I drag into my fantasy,
just look at it like a tip for the horses :o)
howandever, my objective was achieved, the end of the nasty debte and I must admit there was a good feel about the place today for a change, I bet I got a few hunterlopers twitching too.
It was also nice to see what its like to be liked :oD

canamalar, ^%%$£$$%%&&!!!!

Canamalar - you are a rogue and a charlatan.

But thanks for brightening up a dismal workday. LOL

Rangers this, debt that. Been hearing it all for ages now. They're champions and a game in hand away from being top again. When will this so-called financial superiority start to matter where it counts - on the field?

canamalar

any more inside info, no, surprise surprise

as for the huns it,s only a matter of time till a real disaster arises 'KARMA'

As a footnote, as a mark of how ridiculous the situation is, Alex Ferguson was fined £20,000 ..... not Euros, £20,000 ..... for saying a ref wasn't match fit.

UEFA ..... I am speechless.

well that's that bhoys ,the only thing that can lift the gloom now is better results on the park from us .
On the surface it may seem they have dodged a couple of bullets today .
They are still on the slide on and off the park .I prefer their slow demise as their options run out .
What really irks me though is the way WE seem to be hell bent on picking them up time and time again .
hail hail

Bankiebhoy1

Shocked to see that daft wee boy on live tv thinking he was talking on behalf of us regarding the EPL, they let anyone on tv these days, must have got a knock back from Xfactor.

EN

Aye anyway, back to the books...

How much did they loose in the last year? How much debt are they in? Wheres Moonbeams? Who on earth would buy them now?

So many questions.

Kojo, I'd never doubt it!

...jeez...and tonight was shaping up to be, what I like to call in vino terms - a "Two Bottle Blog"

:)

(Never mind, the Tinto will keep till the Seville atrocity)

Now is the time for Celtic to start a campaign to obtain our own TV rights.

Scottish football is on it's backside, we should be ready with a plan to screen our games when this deal is due to expire.

If the other clubs are unhappy tough.

We earn little enough for live league games so if we refuse a deal we aren't missing much for a season.

UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body has today fined Rangers FC €20,000, and ordered them to pay the cost of the damage to the stadium infrastructure caused as a result of the improper conduct of the Scottish club's supporters at the UEFA Champions League Group G match against FC Unirea Urziceni in Romania on 4 November.

Unirea fined
Unirea Urziceni were fined €8,000 for lack of organisation at the same match. Both clubs have three days, from the dispatch of the reasoned decisions, in which to appeal against the sanctions.

Kojo,i await, with bated breath, your post acknowledging all the rumours and predictions in which you were proven wrong,it does my wee heart good to know we are at loggerheads, until now,i saw you as a mere annoyance, now, your ripost to me has shown you to be both childish, and,at best, selective in your recall, after this, and until you provide us with a full retraction of all your many errors,i will continue to treat you with all the disdain you so richly deserve.

blantyre tim

we were fined 25000.00 - cant recall if euros or pounds.

TLWIO

Disgusted at UEFA's decision.

- The Scottish Media unfair treatment of Celtic

- The Scottish Media sycophantic treatment of Rangers

- The number of refereeing decisions going against Celtic

- UEFA allowing Rangers off scot-free... yet again.

Just a list of the things that are really driving me to despair. Rapidly losing faith in justice and fairness.

TLOPG

this is the fourth time in 3 years that they have been up in front of uefa facing the same charge and get a fine for that amount. unreal. who is head of uefa?....... donald findlay.

cannonlynne,

are you for naming yourself after someone from St. Michael's?

canamalar

Did you really make this all up?

Before I read your posts yesterday, I assumed there would be a fine although bigger than than the 20k Euros.

Now I am fairly disappointed, having now expected at least a points deduction. You should be ashamed of yourself if this was a wind-up.

20k!! That's not going to break the bank is it?! Boooo!
I thought at least the marauding huns would be banned from travelling for the rest of the season.

I wonder if they were asked to repay the cost of manchester's infrastructure!!

Hail Hail

Allgreen

Agree, our own tv deal with expanded Channel67 along with extensive scouting and coaching of kids is the only realistic way to progress and compete in Europe.

I hope the Romanian authorities remember to claim for the damage and loss of gold plated taps and marble staircases.

Kojo felt your bum felt with that one.

A gracious apology perhaps? Go on, we are all part of the Celtic family after all

howandever, my objective was achieved..."

If your objective was to lose all credibility then I'd say indeed it was.

Feyenoord were banned from Europe for a year. Why the double standards? No other club's supporters have misbehaved so consistently as those of FC Dignity.

Is it because of our man at UEFA, Mr David Taylor? I can think of no other explanation.

And when the other clubs call in the administrators, wind themselves up or go part-time, who'll we play then?

Think on this:

... professional football clubs need to operate in a regulated, redistributive environment. Our sporting rivals are our business partners.

Hail! Hail!

Now that rangers have, once again, been given an easy ride, does anyone know if a city can refuse to allow visiting fans into it's boundaries?.I truly believe we could be close to such a situation with fans of rangers,no matter which city they could potentially visit, the risk of danger to the residents is now clear, the local government,of ANY city, is responsible for the safety, and well-being of it's inhabitants, and,as of right now,no city can be guarnteed any protection, except that provided by itself,if just one host, has the guts to refuse entry to rangers fans, maybe THEN the spineless football authorities, will finally take action, although, having witnessed there "wisdom"it is something of a long shot

Can UEFA appeal themselves ala Eduardo? If so it may not be over yet.

Árd Macha

The Huns consistently get an easy draw in Europe; we consistently get a difficult one.

The Eduardo fiasco.

And now a derisory fine for them for the umpteenth time. Rioting and racism, they can get away with anything.

Is UEFA as bad as the SFA?

Let's hope they think to themselves "Phew! Thank Goad! We wuz worried there fur a minute..........." Lets hope they are then thick enough to think they can get away with more of the same in Seville .Could be they will get some proper comeuppance eventually if they think they are untouchsble.
Anyway, much as we enjoy the huns predicament, we should be more worried about our own team. Us gloating at the huns just now is a bit like a man with one leg laughing at a man with no legs

nothebus,i am truly sorry, but, what do i have to be apologetic about?,i can assure you,if i felt i was due to offer any apology,it would be forthcoming. Are you inferring that, just because kojo was correct,i owe him an apology?,his latest prediction, which did in fact come to pass, was just another in a very long line, some of which, believe it or nor, turn out to be wrong.Surely you can acknowledge that,if anyone makes enough predictions, the law of averages will, eventually, kick in.

The other clubs would make money from Celtic as we would have to pay for rights to games/lost revenue.
To be honest if they can't survive tough, we have too many teams as it is.

No one was thinking about redistribution of wealth to us before McCann came in and saved the club.

We need to look after ourselves and I think we should be looking at TV deals, resurrecting the reserve league and feeder clubs.

Our ultimate aim should be to compete again at European level with a core of home grown players.

CD @ 6.21 p.m.

You're absolutely right. Anyone coming on here and claiming he has inside information should be told where to go. They give the blog a bad name.

By roberttressell on November 12, 2009 12:35 PM

If the people setting the agendas were up front then that is fair enough. To be honest their objectives are out there but they are hardly disseminated into the main stream media.

This goes way back and is extremely sinister. It is interesting you mentioned the Vatican, there are still good men holding back evil. If you can seek out Father Malachi Martins books, especially The Windswept House, then please do so. You will find Mikhail Gorbachev implicated in an ACTUAL attack on the Vatican, MG is a big Global player now in a New Age philosophy that is permeating itself all over the world.

Maurice Strong spelt out the plans back in the early 90s in the Earth charter. As I've said before it is just a return to Paganism and Earth Worship, just a shame its duped so many into the Propaganda trap, sounds familiar?
