Celtic 3-0 Aberdeen, SPL, 5 December 2009
A Georgeos Samaras-inspired Celtic swept aside Aberdeen this afternoon in a game that was even more one-sided than the 3-0 score line suggested.
Scott McDonald opened the scoring on 39 minutes when he got on the end of an excellent move. Marc Crosas swept a ball into space on the right for Andreas Hinkel to ping a first-time cross between goalkeeper and defence for McDonald to match onto and finish. Danny Fox marked his return to form with a 50 yard run and shot which was well saved by Langfield in the Aberdeen goal.
Samaras made it 2-0 seven minutes after the break when he headed an Aiden McGeady cross home before completing the scoring with an audacious chip with 14 minutes remaining. Jeril Ifil was given a straight red card in the second half for digging his studs into Samaras while both players were on the ground.
Aberdeen held Celtic for most of the first half but with Samaras in irresistible form, collecting the ball from deep and opening space in advanced areas, Celtic always looked likely. The second half was a procession towards the Aberdeen goal with some of the best football Celtic have played in some time. Samaras had several chances to complete his hat trick while N'Guemo and substitute McGinn both hit the post.

Wise words.Lets see how we feel next week when we meet a team who will mix it to the death and will be spurned on by their bile filled crowd.
When Celtic do well at that wee cesspit I think its indicative of a good season.
One Swallow doesn't make a summer.
Hopefully were on an upward curve.
YOWZAH YOWZAH YOWZAH !!!!

Forgive me for answering a post aimed at someone else.
Keevins not on Clyde today. However Mark Guidi at the top of the show announced the press had had it with Tony Mowbray. His actual quote was " the relationship with the press and Tony Mowbray is over"
Guidi, the self appointed spokesman for the entire press wasnt taken to task by this quite outrageous statement.
What exactly does he mean? what is he threatening?
Jim Gannon has it right.Treat them with the contempt they deserve.
The Celtic fans should demonstrate to Guidi and the like that our "relationship" with that kind of press is over.
Dont buy the redtops
i don't think we could have asked anymore this week...3 wins, great football, especially today, and a very decent crowd....
i'm delighted for tony mowbray....he has been terrific this week, in sticking to his principals and showing up the press for their petty agenda....
Hi Celtic_First,
I thought of you when I was in Madrid & Toledo last weekend. Hope you're well.
Sounds like the Hoops are back in town -- well done bhoys.
I post for the first time in ages then log on again to find the thread has changed. Ah well. 6th, anyone?
great display today very few negatives
My best 90mins inside CP in years
well done TM and every player on the pitch
notthebus
Part of the problem with the press may be that they know we already dont and so theyre pandering to their dwindling readership.
Doesnt excuse it of course.
TLWIO
Thoroughly enjoyed today's performance and delighted to see that the efforts on the pitch led to a much better atmosphere off it.
Wish we had a midweek game as next Saturday can't come quick enough for me. Still I suppose I could always look forward to the next Seville game.
Oh and on the BBC Scotland predictor i had 3 - 0 with McDonald to score firsst AND played 1 of my jokers! Pity I'm still only in 4068th place!
Jobo
Amazing the difference in confidence that a couple of wins on the trot does for a team.
We were an irresistible force today.
Including Artur. :)
And to think some on here had a dig at Gordon Strachan for treating the press for the bottom feeders they are.
Makes me laugh.
get in there Given Saves Lampards pen
Cole
is an arrogant git...
Craggy - I never heard Ned Flanders. It was Maguire, BFDJ, Walker and Kevin "Someone". Two guys called in and were raving about the performance - cue negative spin and criticism of TM's signings.
BFDJ asked if the team were now playing for the manager, then why not before?!
Walker said N'Guemo was "hot & cold". (he was red hot today!)
Blah Blah Blah.
As Kojo says, we should cut off the oxygen that feeds these clowns, but we can't seem to stop ourselves from listening in and getting hacked off.
Baltar - if you're expecting any sympathy from me, with the burds you pull, then you can think again you cigar-smoking lethario! :-)
TTTT
Today I enjoyed the performance as well as the result.
Some great performances, M'Guemo,Samaras,McGeady and Crosas. No failures and almost 2 goal of the season contenders in N'Guemo and Fox.
Samaras was unplayable at times today, the player he should be more often.
Crosas sometmes gives the ball away but sone good passing today and the pass for the first goal was McStay like.
A bit more of that and it could help reverse the falling crowds.
Its showtime !
Really enjoyed that today...when was the last time we could say that?
Was great listening to the debates for man of the match fantastic we had a right good couple of canditates again not had that in a long time
God Bless Kano

Thank you.
I thin it is always important to keep the perspective. Te get to where we want to be, and where we can be, we need the board to back BTM.
For me, he is the right man for the job...
holla from your man in santiago de cuba,
well I've just been collared by my taxi drivers and this weekends hosts, they gave me the opportunity to get in touch with the consulate and relevant authorities, but there is no contest what I'd be using my final communique for the weekend and maybe more, reading the joy from the bhoys is a strange experience, but it will tide me over till I check out from this weekends digs :o)
Especially glad to hear n'guemo and sammi are coming onto their game after the number of detractors here, hope they are chokeing on their bile now. Even better to see aiden coming onto his game I've had loads of doubt on the bhoyand hoped he'd come good, I'm thoroughly enjoying choking, just wish I could have seen todays game but thats life eh:o)
hail hail
ps I told yous gold coast tom was a jinx :oD
Some of today's play was JOYOUS.
I won't bore anybody with an analysis.
Enough to say that my happy old head is singing........
Come all you maidens young and fair
All you that are blooming in your prime
And always beware
To keep your garden fair
Let no man steal away your thyme.
For thyme it is a precious thing
And thyme brings all things to my mind
Thyme with all its labours,
Along with all its joys
Thyme brings all things to an end.
God Bless Anton Mor's Young Lions.

Three wins. Our biggest target now is to make it 4. It is that simple. Look no further ahead and never behind. On such things are winning teams built.
Incidentally on ESPN they are bigging up Man City's biggest ever crowd at the new stadium. 40 odd thousand.
I heard them on 5 live bigging up the massive 35 K that had turned up at Upton Park today, biggest of the season in the East End of London.
I remember well the days when over 40K was a big crowd at Celtic Park. Those days were called the late 70's and most of the 80's and a good proportion of the 90's too. Or is my memory fading?
Anyway. Satisfying stuff today. Each win brings a little more fear to our next opponents. Motherwell is now all that counts.
Support for particular football teams often reflects Catholic or Protestant heritage. Celtic F.C. are overwhelmingly supported by people from a Catholic background. Hibernian F.C. and Dundee United F.C. were formed as clubs representing Irish Catholics, however there is little vestige of these founding values today. Teams such as Dundee F.C., Heart of Midlothian F.C. and Lanarkshire teams such as Motherwell FC and Airdrie United are perceived by some as Protestant clubs, with Rangers F.C being the overwhelmingly Protestant supported club in Scotland.

Thought some of you's might find that interesting :)The sheep ,St Johnstone and Livingston hate the huns also.
And as I posted last night why TM should ignore the majority of hacks in this country

Enjoy the rest of your evening Bhoys ,am going out to get (more) drunk in a good mood for a change ;)
So so enjoyed that today, cannot remember the last time i was up off my seat so many times in a game and all for the right reasons.
Huffed and puffed little until we got the first goal, but Aberdeen were intent on sitting in for a point, thot they would have been a little more positive.
Midfield 2 really functioned today, the N'Guemo shot that hit the post would have brought the house down and Crosas was excellent.
McDonald again showed he is getting back to his harrying best, i can overlook his dreadful control and poor decision making so long as he is running the life out of the other defence, forcing them into mistakes and then popping up with a goal.
McGeady is just pivitol to us winning the league, his creativity should never be taken for granted even when the opposition try to kick him off the park, the 2 bookings on him today were shocking tackles.
Memo to Sammy, why can't you play like that all the time? Well done big chap!!

I agree with all you say.
I was merely commenting on posters who chose to dig up old scores on a day when we got a little closer together as the Celtic Family.
"There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through."
I'm raising a glass to all the Celtic family who had a good day today. Absolutely no exceptions.

Great to see you posting too. I am very jealous of your trip to Madrid and Toledo.
I hope someone looked after you and that you ate and drank as well as you deserve. I'd have gone for Botín every time in Madrid, except maybe la Chocolatería San Ginés for chocolate and churros for breakfast.
It's so long since I was in Toledo that I wouldn't have known where to go to eat, but I'd have looked out for game dishes at this time of year, particularly partridge. And I'd have made sure to take you to the parador for an after dinner something or other and the view of the Tagus.
Like Noel, you should definitely post all the time. Your people needs the two of you.
( copied and pasted this from last thread--then just submitted it again on the previous thread! I know, what a pie!!! )
from previous thread:
Hi ghuys,
just popped online to say " well done bhoys today ".
I don't post often but recently when I did I was critical of our teams performance. So I'm just on to give them the praise they are due after the way they played this afternoon.
God knows they been getting the boot put into them recently, deservedly so, but today they were fantastic. Everyone of them. Accept Boruc, but only cause he had nothing to do :-)
I haven't read any of the thread today but I hope there are ' pats on the back ' a plenty for the players. If it had finished 9 or 10 it wouldn't have flattered us. I thought Langfield made about 4 or 5 good saves, we hit the woodwork twice and had 2 cleared of the line ( it was 2 off the line if my memory serves me right, it was a tad cold today so I was operating much slower than usual ) and still won 3 zip.
We're not out the woods yet but hopefully we've turned the corner. 3 wins in a row and some nice football to boot.
I've been waiting for the phone call from my mate who wants Mogga sacked to say how good we were today but I won't hold my breath :-)
Funny how when we haven't got a result this season he's on as soon as the full TIMe whistle goes. Giving it all the " where's this flowing football we've been promised ". Well that's 3 games with some nice footie played and I ain't heard nowt!
Anyhoos, have a nice night Bhoys n Ghirls cause I'm off to sharpen my head and drinks loads of beer, eat curry and watch strictly. Only joking...........I'm having chow mein :-)
Hail hail.
ps Given has just saved Lampards pen so still 2-1 to city :-)

Excellent Joni Mitchell reference. I had to sing it in my head before I recognised it.
a Celtic TV channel would be nice, I am gutted that I won't get to see the game today.

Added to the normal sense you post it's encouraging that you spell our manager's name correctly.
That's a rarity.
Hello again Celtic_1st;
wish I could post a bit more often but it's been really hectic, between this and that (mainly that, as the great Chic Murray once said). So sad am I that here I am, still in the office, listening to Robbie Shephard online and composing bidding prayers for tomorrow ...
Yes, my host was excellent and took us to precisely that Chocolateria for my first taste of Churros and chocolate like I never tasted in my life!
We took an afternoon away from meetings & conferences to go to Toledo which was stunning.
One blot -- poor planning on my part meant that El Clasico was being played away, up in Barcelona. It took a lot of self-control, watching on TV with an all-Madrid group, to say the right thing (and not the wrong thing).
I'll try to post a bit more often. But sometimes there can be a negativity that makes me want to drop it altogether.
Cheers for the response and go well!
Hail, hail.
Not too bad - loving the midfield duo.
Sami had a good day at the office.
3 games, 3 wins and the window to come... (that could be the death knell though)
any ideas where I can get stats on attendances going back to the 80's? I'm sure I used to have stuff like that some place. Probably my old Celtic Views from that era which I gave away!!! d'oh.
One more request. Cannot play vids on Youtube as I need the latest Flash Player. have downloaded it. still no joy. any ideas?
Dave, good mhan.
On the subject of negativity, the more tempted we might be to stop posting and give into it, the more we should resist. Works for me. But I understand what you mean.
If Celtic had played less sparklingly today or achieved a less positive result, the number of posts on the last thread would have been double. I don't understand why, but it's in keeping with what I've seen in almost four years on CQN.
I don't know who Robbie Shepherd is, but I'm tempted to suggest that your bidding prayers might come out better if you tune in to the Spanish football here:
http://www.rtve.es/radio/endirecto/
Also, just so as you know, in our parish, all that stuff has been well delegated.
Can someone tell me what benefit we get from Darren O'Dea warming the bench at Reading?
He was sent out to get first team experience and never gets a game, can't see the point, and we should recall him, better on our bench than on Reading's
Seville drew 1-1 at home to the priests’ favourite, Real Valladolid.
The super blanquivioletas were 0-1 up, but Seville got a penalty and equalised.
This is the second successive home game that Seville have drawn, which is nice, because it means their players will be keen to make amends in the CL.

Havent bought a red top since thugs and thieves , and the flight into cardiff..
wont be rushing to get one now either
Haven't enjoyed myself at Celtic Park like that for some time. It was like a flash back to the MON years when it a question of how many, not will we win.
My opinion on N Guemo before today was not a good one. Up to today I thought he did very little in the opponents half. Today I thought he was outstanding. Especially the second half he was, for the first time to my eyes in a Celtic jersey, prepared to drive at opponents with the ball. At times he was almost unplayable, and he was so unlucky not to score. More please Landry.
Crosas's pass for the first goal was simply brilliant. Again more please Marc. But work on the shooting.
Very pleased, but not getting carried away. I've seen some poor Aberdeen teams at Parkhead but that was one of the worst. I reckon Lukasz was just as busy as Artur.
If we can win all our games up to and including Jan 3rd we will be in good shape.
Just in from game via pub"FANSTATICO"starting to click after wednesdays game.
Big sammi ,Lazy wee aussie bassa,N guemo not giving ball back,Aiden
Ya dancer,HAIL HAIL to you all ,that is all we ask for 100%everytime.
Sorry if my typing not up scratch hic, dont care byeee
C_1st,
It's been delegated, to me, by my Team!
Thanks for the link but ah'm awa hame the noo.
Hoping that the Record button on our new Sky+ worked and that I can sit back with some of the Rioja I brought back and enjoy a fine Celtic performance.
Robbie Shephard does a programme on Radio Scotland of country dance music but also some good celtic (small c) material here and there. Makes me come over all maudlin on a gloomy London Saturday evening.
Speak soon, hail hail,

West wales:
You cynic you! Are you suggesting that ,if we go on a run and get a few points ahead of the huns by January, our esteemed board will forget where they hid the biscuit tin?
A McGeadyesque cross by Ronaldo for that Real Madrid goal?
interesting stat from the hibs v motherwell game and the dundee utd v st mirren game today....bearing in mind the motherwell and dundee utd managers were both very vocal in their criticism of referee's last week
the foul count in the games today was.....
hibs ...fouls committed....4
motherwell..fouls committed....22
dundee utd...fouls committed ......18
st mirren....fouls committed ......10
i suspect there was more than an element of payback by the referee's today....the message being "only one manager is allowed to criticise referee's, and it isn't either of you two"
Guys totally different topic, but anyone got any tips on switching energy suppliers, it confuses the bejesus outta me.....
cheers hail hail
That was absolutely superb today, the sheepies were singing in the 1st half "where's your famous atmosphere?"- well in the 2nd half they sampled it, it was like a European night.
To any of you out there who couldn't be bothered going- well you missed yourselves- big time. Saying that the crowd (size) was the best for ages, would suggest we had a genuine 50,000+ crowd today.
Too many positives, cannot find any negatives apart from that Artur Boruc- he never even got into the game today.
Big Sammi, Landry and Andy were the pick of the bunch, but a big shout for the Heid who put in another steady and assured performance- if he keeps this form up then there may still be a future for him at CP.
Finally to big Tony Mowbray, I for one am right behind you, big man.
Hail hail!
Great performance and result today...and great to see to much positivity around these parts. Really pleased young Crosas is starting to deliver.
C1st - just watched the highlights of the blanquivioletas game, and in fact they were lucky to hold on after one of the 'priests' favourites' was straight red carded for a horrible tackle. Confession for Fernandez (?) tonight.
I'm away out for the Madrid and Barça games.
Again off topic but this is the best episode of this show ever

I had the same problem with YouTube the other week, turned out to be a Adblocker on Firefox that was preventing videos from playing, dont know if thats what you use but I changed the setting in that and it fixed it.

Who am I to judge?
Will you be in the East Midlands over Christmas?
1-2 to Almería now. Amazing.
The good thing about listening to Spanish football is that you know a goal has been scored even when you've gone to the toilet.
Gordon Strachan treated the Scottish Press with the contempt they deserved.
He was given the opportunity to put them in their place that many would have loved.
Still, some hated him for it amongst other so called transgressions.
I hope the current manager will denounce many of them for years to come.
Drink beckons, have a good night.
roberttressell @ 7:42...
what attendance stats are you looking for?
Seriously, this could be the end of Manuel Pellegrini as Real Madrid boss if the score stays the same.
I know some of you have mentioned the negativity of some posters who are conspicuous by their absence tonight, and I am one of their biggest critics, however I have no doubt they think of themselves as genuine Celtic supporters.
What they have is something which I cannot understand, they are Celtic supporters who cannot enjoy just being a Celtic supporter, they think they deserve something more, me, every day I live I am grateful of who and what I am, a supporter of that worldwide phenomenon that is Glasgow Celtic Football Club.
Lisbon Lions Upper
Agree with you bud. It was like the Mon days.
Wee N Guemo was unplayable today. I thought he was superb. He really deserved that shot to hit the underside of the bar and go in instead of hitting it full on and coming out. What a goal that would have been.
I know what you mean about poor Aberdeen sides at C.P but as Paul posted earlier. They have been very consistant on the road this season. I do believe we didn't allow them to carry out their gameplan today. We just steamrollered over the top of them. We were a wee bit slow to get going but once we did....wow!
Keep it up Bhoys. As you say, win all our games till the 3rd of Jan then bring it on.
Hail hail.
Nearly 1-3 to Almería. Missed by a whisker.
Just as I've been reluctant to be critical of the manager and players as a group, I would not want to start going overboard either.
I always thought that it was unrealistic to expecr TM to take over a team that was low in performance and spirit as the team he inherited and turn it around as if he had a magic wand. Gandalf and Merlin are works of fiction.
Then I saw the fixture list and thought it did us no favours, so my hope was that we stayed in touch until TM put his mark on the team.
It seemed to me that sometimes he was prepared to experiment to find out who would be able to step up to his mark and the constant changing worried me, as did his sticking with Scott Brown who was simply not doing a job.
But when he decided to sideline Brown, for everybody's good, making use of the return of Robson (for dig)and settling for a regular midfield pairing in Crosas and Nguemo, he had made up his mind what was needed.
The Falkirk game worried me a bit as we were over run in midfield first half but second half we rallied a bit and I put it down to starting with the wrong attitude.
The Dundee Utd game was there for our taking, they have two midfielders Gomis and Bauben who often held sway but were hardly seen. I thought that was the day when things took a turn because for the first time in a while we controlled the midfield.
The results and performances since suggest that the decline that lost us the SPL has been halted and we are on the way back.
Like any graph there will be the odd blip and when the usual suspects jump on their personal bandwagon and try to make something of it, remember that the corner has been turned and the direction we are heading is upwards, under a guy who appears to have had more faith in himself than some of the alleged support.
Jamsie
Good post that bhoy. Sometimes, being on the side of the angels is all the reward we deserve, can expect or ask for.
Today was good but don't think this is where Tony is aiming. He still has a lot to come.
67heaven- well said, sir!
Hail hail!
Posted this earlier today.
As we are all in a good mood I thought it worth posting again!

Celtic...3 Rangers...1
Scottish League Cup semi-final
Hood (3) McDonald
Celtic, with absolute assurance and occasional arrogance, last night trampled over Rangers and thus walked into their tenth successive Scottish League Cup Final. It was easy at rain-swept Hampden Park.
Victory was accomplished with hardly a worry in the world throughout a semi-final watched by 54864 sodden spectators.
The Old Firm affair was a small personal triumph for Harry Hood, that accomplished Celtic forward, who scored three goals and joined that select band of players who have done so in these confrontations between Glasgow's bitterest rivals.
If Hood was outstanding on a wild night, every one of his colleagues supported him well. Of the 10 others Dalglish was clearly exceptional and Wilson justified the faith of manager Jock Stein, who preferred him to the pair of talented internationals - George Connelly and Jimmy Johnstone.
The Ibrox side played a curious semi-final. Kicking into the wind in the first half they looked composed, but after the interval, with the elements acting to their advantage, they fell away. Tactically, the switching of Alex MacDonald to the left wing robbed the side of his talent where it was most needed, farther back.
It was, for Rangers, a bad defeat as one doorway to another season of European competition was shut in their face. But to the end they fought, spirit unbroken.
But Celtic, on the Hampden evidence, remain by some distance Scotland's best club team , much as they have done over the last decade. Ten in a row is too long a chain of events to be ascribed to coincidence.
This was another hard and unrelenting Old Firm game, full of incident and indecent tackles, which ended with three men - Jackson, MacDonald and Wilson - being booked.
Celtic contrived the start they wanted, using Wilson at centre-forward, held up-field to exploit the off-side experiment and under orders to run the pace out of Rangers' legs. He did so and left the others to exploit the gaps.
After 34 minutes his side struck. Dalglish drove a low cross and McCloy, diving awkwardly, full of angular limbs, could not gather the ball Mathieson kicked off the line as it spun clear, but contrived only to give Dalglish another creative chance. This time the ball was floated into the centre, and Hood pushed the header into the empty net.
But it was not, for a while, to be easy for Celtic. Rangers found an ally in adversity and three minutes later they were deservedly level. Greig, as always at the heart of every matter, broke up the midfield play and edged towards the penalty area.
Once there he played the pass square to MacDonald on the left and the winger hit a vicious curving cross that shot across the face of Hunter, before spiralling into the corner of the net - the game's best goal.
There it rested until half-time with Rangers, the favourites, downwind.. But the expected never happened as Celtic locked up the middle, tackled even harder and eventually sucked their opponents dry.
They scored again after 55 minutes when Jackson was forced into a desperate tackle on Wilson which left the winger almost on the track. Callaghan took the free kick and McNeill, having stolen silently to the far post, headed strongly and accurately back across the goal, Hood again was present to stick the ball over the line. This time there was no reply, for Hay's damaging tackles had taken effect and Rangers were short of inventive ideas.
Manager Wallace threw on Derek Johnstone as an extra striker in place of McLean who had disappeared but the teenager had hardly arrived before Hood scored his third goal to take the semi-final beyond recall. Again it was a Dalglish pass, and there was a suspicion of offside as he strode across the penalty area to place the ball out of reach of McCloy.
But that luck was balanced by another Hood shot from what looked like an onside position that was disallowed a few seconds later.
So the terraces were cleared with Celtic songs being sung enthusiastically if untunefully. Once more out of a period of some concern inside the club, the right answers had been found and the side had beaten Rangers for the third time out of four meetings this season.
Celtic : Hunter, McGrain, Brogan, McCluskey, McNeill and Murray,
Hood, Hay, Wilson, Callaghan and Dalglish. Subs - Johnstone and Connelly.
Rangers : McCloy, Jardine, Mathieson, Greig, Jackson and Houston, McLean, Forsyth, Parlane, Conn and MacDonald. Subs - Johnstone and Smith.
Harry, Harry, Harry Hood!!!
Best performance of the Mowbray era today.
Tough tests coming up at Fir Park and Tynecastle so keeping feet on the ground.
Wasn't it great to hear Celtic Park alive again.
Having read the interview with Sir Dignity and bearing in mind Gough's comments about how their mentality at the time was "to make sure players entering their box left black n blue",it would be interesting to read the Hun crime counts each season during the 90s period.
Call me paranoid but Id say the Huns got away with murder,oh wait,I cant be paranoid because Richard Gough's just admitted it.
These latest comments by Gough and Smith remind me of BFDJ admitting that perhaps some referees do actually support a certain team.
As the fallout from the Hun finances begins and takes effect on their footballing performances we really are seeing it all come out in the dirty washing.

Lisbon Lions Upper,
Glad to see you are beginning to see what many of us have seen for a while regarding Marc Crosas and Landry N'Guemo.
An excellent partnership at the heart of our team. The pair together are greater than the sum of the individuals.
Welcome to the Crosas/N'Guemo footballing appreciation society.
Good result today some lovely play and a good atmosphere
The big challange is now we have two away games while the huns have easy home games.
Anton mor and the lads have done all that could be asked of them 3 wins
if we can now sort out motherwell and the wee huns then 3rd jan becomes very interesting
We must keep our stars

Ulster-Celt,
From the last thread. Thanks mate, just wasn't sure, getting a little paranoid in my old age.
By the way caught up with Anton beag on Wednesday, he was still feeling a tad 'delicate'. He told me the story of the fáinne, lucky man.
I could have been walking behind him on Wednesday instead of talking to him had he not sorted that out:-))
Árd Macha
Cristiano Ronald makes it 4-2.
He's just been getting pelters on Radio Nacional for standing like a lemon, lamenting his penalty miss, while all his team-mates ran to congratulate Benzema.
“He only thinks about himself,” said one of the broadcasters.
I meant Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronald is a guy from South Uist.
quite a few of our players have been slaughtered on here.....on a regular basis, by posters who are clearly committed Celtic supporters....McGeady, Hinkel, , Samaras, N'Guemo and Crosas have all been questioned...
thats fair enough ...you buy a ticket , you can pass your opinion...i've no problem with that.....now that ALL of the above have very clearly demonstrated they have the quality to play in a good Celtic X1, i'm hoping that Scott Brown might be cut a bit of slack when he returns...he very definitely has the quality, and a midfield 4 of brown crosas n'guemo and aiden, will be far too good for anyone in the SPL
Cristiano is aff.
Second yellow card.

CPN'rs surely we can have no negative post's tonight? This is the day the lord has given us let us rejoice and be glad
Barçabhoy.
People should be able to give an opinion, but slaughtering the bhoys is a step too far.
I have said before that I blame our tabloid culture. Everthing must be expressed in extreme terms, hence a ghuy who makes a mistake or has a bad game is “never Celtic class in a million years”, or “the worst since Frank Munro/Joe Fillipi/Rafael Scheidt/Wayne Biggins … ”.
And then people haven't the humility to back down from their extreme positions. Paul67 has explained this by saying there are people on here who, given the choice, would rather be proved correct than see Celtic win.
Criticism is fine, but more people should have the humility to come on after a good result and give credit and praise where they are due.
OK, I feel I have to say something on behalf of the so-called negative posters.
I was right behind WGS, even until he resigned, which puts me firmly into the happy-clapper camp. However, after October's performances and his criticisms of the players, I began to despair of Tony Mowbray. I called for him to go at one point.
Neither the first or the second type of reaction makes me more or less of a Celtic supporter. They are merely reactions/points of view.
I've read people tonight calling criticism of Mowbray/Samaras/Celtic/whoever 'bile-filled', 'venom' etc. Guys, get a hold of yourselves! Nothing I have read regarding Sammi or any other player has been bile-filled or venemous. Mostly, they are just a person's opinion regarding a player's talent or lack thereof. If anything, it is the reaction to these posts that comes across as bile-filled to me.
That's one of the reasons why this site is here - so people can post their opinion. It's not a cyber-terrace, although it can be that as well. I just don't think it's helpful to criticise posters because they have a negative opinion, just as I don't think it's right to attack people who are pleased with the state of things at Celtic. By all means, attack the argument, but not the person.
I, like most of you, have my favourite/least favourite players
One more thing I need to get of my chest - the constantly repeated observation that 'these boards are awfy quiet when we win ....hmmmmmmm'. Of course they are! What do you expect? When we lose, your average supporter feels terrible, can't talk to the wife/husband/kids about it or perhaps doesn't want to, and so they come on here to vent their spleen. What's so awful about that?
So finally, a plea - this site needs to take itself a bit less seriously. What gets written here has little or no bearing on the outcome of the games Celtic play, and in general reflects the mood of the Celtic support, which is broad and can't be pigeon-holed into one green and white amorphous mass, much as some would like it to be.
Anyway, a great result today.
Hail Hail
All over.
Real Madrid 4-2 Almería.
That's entertainment with a capital E....3 going on 23 and no exaggeration. Hope you enjoyed it, Mort. You and the others who came from afar in midwinter.
Thank you, Mr Mowbray and all those wearing the Jersey this afternoon. You did us proud, especially young Fox with that run. That's the way to destroy packed defences. Here's hoping his confidence and that of the rest of the team goes sky high.
Aiden MacGeady is getting to be worth the admission fee on his own. Is that because he is getting passes from Marc Crosas which allow him to run at pace against defendrs, their worst nightmare.
Oh, Mort, I'm resident in Glasgow for the foreseeable future. If you don't have my email addres anymore, you can ask Paul67 for my mobile number. Be good to see you and your better half once again. I would love to make it to BBs on a match day but it is difficult.
Great day to be a Celtic supporter. Long may it continue.
WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED.
Nice to se Ronaldo geting his marching orders. Dive for the pen, a bit of showboating and when he gets whacked he lashes out.
Could not have happened to a nastier fellow.
Tony if your reading this site tonight, believe!!
It will come and the over reaction over recent weeks will be laughed about, i a few years.
I enjoyed today, unable to get to many games this season due to other commitments, but today was good. N'Guemo and Crosas look the part and the more games they get the better they will become.
Still think that we need to centre halves and a striker in January and begin to build a spine to the team. Rom was not built in a day and it will require certain players to be purchased. Players i think you will identify and get.
Andreas Hinkel mate, outstanding is getting better. Different class, on thing though, Danny has the pace and sometimes today if he were to follow the movement off the ball Andreas does he would then give us that weapon we are getting on the right from Andreas.
If after January activity we require a new captain, i would have no hesistation in giving it to him. We are getting to see the player he was at Stuttgart. Would be madness to even think about selling him, if it was true.
Adding someone like and Anthony Annan,Christan Poulsen, Robert Koren or a Ki Young So with N'Guemo and Crosas could be very interesting.
I forgot Milan Misun is still to come back and he may well be the left back we are after. The more i would watch Fox, the more i think he could be the guy that could supply the ammunition from left mid.
Re: The Press
Forget about them. Decent man that your are they don't deserve the respect you gave them from the start. Time to go down the GS, KD, MON line with them. Be sharp with them. Aint exactly going to lose any sleep not having friends within that nest of vipers. Amateurs at there jobs and haven't got a clue about the game.
Your Celtic Manager and those two words mean your the enemy in Scotland. Amazing what happens when the world Celtic is associated wioth you. Think back to the 90's and the boot they used to put into our club. Nothing has changed. Don't entertain them. Problem is many fans at our club fall into the trap of believing what they read.
Paul67,
Have Celtic ever thought of using a freeview on the offical website of the press conference unedited. Think this is a route they should take now, as our managers are getting mis represented in the agenda driven media.
You might want to inform PL that they better watch Keevins. Think he is still reeling with the fact that his mate Owen Coyle never got the job. Seen that as his chance to get all the news from the club from his mate.
Last night as I was brushing my teeth it dawned on me that I was really looking forward to today's game. I couldn't remember the last time I'd had that feeling.
Then today another 'first for a long time' happened, rising to my feet in anticipation of Fox completing that run.
Such a great game. What a game N'Guemo had. And Samaras.

Barcabhoy - sorry, but I would sell Broon in January. We need to give further funds to TM so that he cam attempt to build his own team, which he should ultimately be judged on.
We don't want to lose THG or Aiden, so Broony gets sold IMHO.
He doesn't deserve a place in that midfield anyway!
TM and your mate Peter should also be very busy looking at player swaps or trades.

Well we got our three wins in a row, and by all accounts in a fine style. Goals looked terrific (thank you Pablo), especially McDonald's which is the type of move we all like to see but haven't seen enough of over the years. The last week reminded us of the early season promise of Mr. Mowbray's team and is something we now need to build on. Thankfully no more International Football over the winter, and while it is disappointing to be out of Europe, O'Neill and Strachan showed that relative success there requires a consistency of both approach and performance, let us now strive for both. I read earlier today that Celtic will play Morton in the Scottish Cup, so a home tie for all the Greenock Bhoys. Anyone know when we last played a game out there?
Don't know about you guys but my thoughts are beginning to stray to the big windy opening allowing a gush of fresh air flow through our dressing room in January.

Any juicy news about potential TM purchases.

I know you love the ole transfer stuff, but I was listening to talksport for a wee while earlier and heard a West ham supporter talking about an old target of ours - Kovac. To paraphrase the unhappy hammer:

Celtic rounded off a week of good results with a fine performance today, for the third game in a row Aiden was superb, he attacks from the start and is the first player to take the game to the opposition by creating chances, he is just sublime at the moment. N'guemo and Samaras had there best games this season in a Celtic shirt today, both gave total commitment, tackled, fought, passed well and ran all over the pitch, 2 good goals for Sammy, not far behind these two were Crosas and Robson, wee special mention for Robson and his attitude, this guy is a winner, his will to win in the Tommy Burns 3IAR championship is once again on display, no surprise good team spirit being more evident, it is i believe down to Robson. Heid is enjoying a good spell of form this week, has played well last 3 games, our best defender, it wasn't all perfect today, but very encouraging, signs of putting the SPL cack to the sword as we should be at home, Mogga stated on the radio he is going home tonight to see his family, hope the journey home is a happy one Mogga
Cristiano Ronaldo aplogises for his red card. He got the second yellow for taking off his shirt on scoring the fourth goal. He said it was an instinctive gesture because he was so relieved to score after missing the penalty. He will miss the next league match against Valencia.
“I don’t like losing, I don’t like missing because I’m a professional,” he said.
Token Tim - Talksport? You do realise that it's Real Radio or Clyde 1 with English accents don't you? West Ham had just been humped 4-0 at home and from what I've seen on SS1, he's not done too badly...so far.

I agree if it was 1 of the 3 between THG, Aiden, or Broonie to be sold ( to raise cash to improve our 1st team- not the squad but our 1st team) it would have to be Broonie. Compared to the other three he is dispensible. Very, very dispensible.

So pleased for Tony and the team today. To hear the crowd give Sami and others encouragement, to make them welcome and feel in a place where their efforts are appreciated. Great !
It will be interesting to hear and see the garbage spouted about how poor Aberdeen were....ok they clearly missed Mark Kerr, but that aside they have taken 4 points from Rangers in 2 games and sit in the top 6 playing fairly good football most weeks.
Celtic had good invention and good variation today,3 times we saw long balls from Caldwell to Samaras out wide left, 3 times it switched defence to attack quickly and effectively. We saw full backs get forward and we saw good patient play through the midfield.
For me more importantly we saw a sense of team spirit and cohesion in simple gestures such as Samaras in applauding MacDonald when he was taken off, and MacDonal responding positively in encouraging MAF going on.
I seem to think Artur only touched the ball in play on 1 ocassion in the 2nd half.....in the 90th minute, can anyone dispute this ?

p.s i'm in Belfast, forgive my ignorance.
Burnley78-Agreed that the gesture between Samaras & McDonald when the latter was subbed was as welcome as it was surprising. Has the message that Tony Mowbray delivered to the media also infiltrating it's way into the player's minds creating a siege type mentality? I for one certainly hope so.
Burnley '78 - there was in injury break in the second half and Fox near the halfway line, booted the ball to Arthur, just so he could get a feel of the ball, by the look of it.

I appreciate what you are saying, but how many times have you actually seen him versus an alleged season ticket holding West Ham supporter??? I've seen him a couple of times myself but nowhere near enough to make a considered opinion.
As you probably noted I didnt offer any opinion myself, thought it relevant purely as WGS loves the transfer speculation as much as I detest it and he was linked closely with us, apparently to the point of KO'ing us in favour of the EPL.

Great game today, great display by Crosas, Nguemo & Samaras. Could have been 6 or 7 except for some hard luck finishing and saves by Jamie Langfield.
Stuttgart drew 1-1 with Bochum in today's Bundeliga relegation derby. Before the match fans blocked the team bus' entry to the stadium and after the match hundreds of fans gathered outside shouting their displeasure. Police intervened with usual German efficiency! VfB play Urirea next week and can still qualify for CL quarter finals but it could be the end for manager and board. And all this after giving Rankers a lesson!

Hope you are in good health. Days like this when it was 3 and could easily have been 6 or 7 make the other not so good ones worthwhile.

Rangers fixtures until Jan 3 are : Seville A, St Johnstone H, Dundee U A, Motherwell H, Hibs A, Dundee U H, Celtic A.......
None of these will be too easy...
Celtic have Motherwell A, Rapid A, Hearts A, Hamilton H, Kilmarnock A, Rangers H.......
I will be very surprised if either club takes full points from these games, but on evidence of the past week I know which team I would have my money on !!
Token-Agreed. And of course just after I typed my reply he makes a half-hearted tackle on Scholes-who simply side-stepped him and cracked one into the roof of the net!! My point was more to do with the type of comments you normally get on this type of show-they're not normally renowned as balanced and reational in their judgements. With regards to the player himself-I couldn't offer any sort of informed opinion as I've seen him only on SS and I can't say that he's caught my eye one way or another. Talking of transfers, I see that our local media have taken great delight in quoting our 'target' Giroud telling them he's not going anywhere in January. Only another 2 months of speculation and madness to go!

If your the manager of a once proud club that is now been ran by the bank and you are doing ok. Top of the league and still in every cup competition you want to see out those competitions to the end. Problem is that you know that your contract comes to an end half way through it. You are prepared to see it out to the summer on a reduced contract but you want some assurances before going public on that decision. It would be a serious miscalculation if you were to agree to this and then be seen to walk out. Especially if you have previous experience of turning your back on something and being berated in press and media for it. You would at all costs want to avoid this.
The truth is that the money especially reduced money is not as important to you as maintaining your professional reputation. Therefore it is absolutely crucial that you dont voluntarily sign up for the role of being the man that negotiates for the removal of all your top players. Dr Death, The Grim Reaper etc. No no that is one scene you dont want to be historically linked with in any way shape or manner. You are also aware that without those players you dont stand a chance. So what do you do ?
As I said before you go seeking assurances. The bank naturally dont want you to quit and might even have tabled an offer already. You then tell them that you will accept the offer but not if a fire sale of players is what you are initially confronted with. Do you get those assurances ? Who knows ? Could you be possibly lied too at this point ? Could the assurances you have been given be a bit wishy washy. We´ll sell at the right price etc. You then ask why you are hearing unexpected news ? You are only told that it is not necessary. You being junior in the hierarchy of decision making and also having gone astray from the official boardroom line are basically no longer trusted. You know that and you know you may well be getting fed a line need to react.
You can either walk away from the job citing that the "miracle" has not happened. You look much less of a liar and you haven´t committed to a career ending show stopper of gigantic proportions. You may also be peddling the hope of your former mentor and employer. Loyalty is something you and your club are renowned for. You are therefore caught between a rock and a hard place.
If you know that the bank are not calling the shots yet and cannot really start to call them until the miracle of the delayed accounts from your parent club are released 6 moths late ... will that buy you the time that is necessary to save your club and its reputation by winning the SPL ?
It´s either going to be a boring transfer window or a very exciting one. My money is on it being a really boring one !
Hail Hail
p.s for me the big question at Rangers AGM is who has final say on transfers this January transfer window? Will it be asked. Will the laptop loyal dare ask it ?

Fantastic match today and great performance from The Bhoys. It was like the old days when almost the entire South Stand gave the team a standing ovation after the great piece of play before and after Landry hit the post. There were so many superb performances today - Samaras, N'Guemo, Robson, Caldwell.
I left the house to go to the game as I was driving through the next town, I realised that I had left my season ticket at home. Fifteen minutes to go back home and collect it leaving me with 35 minutes to get back to Celtic Park. "Will I, won't I?", I agonised. You bloody better believe I will! I got in 4 minutes after kick off and saw the best performance for about 4 years.
Keep up the good work Celtic. We are turning the corner! Stick with the same team Mr. Mowbray. When we have developed a winning habit you can start to fine tune the team but don't start tinkering needlessly.
Good to see a large crowd - 53000? Well done everyone.
JungleJim
Sammi is still a very young man who feeds off confidence and the support of those around him.....as Celtic supporters we have it in our gift to help or prevent this lad from achieving his potential.
Some of his play today showed his capability, and the crowd seemed to 'get it'.
We coulds also make him the next Lee Naylor and look to destroy him....
Tony M seems to understand him which is good. One look at his play fro Greece shows the potential you allude to.
Messi1.0 .Best game for a long long time today. When we play like that we really are streets ahead of the huns. Every player on top of their game and aberdeen posed no threat up from. Tony seems to have finally settled on partnerships around the park and hopefully the stability that is brining is starting to show.
Heid -Loovens, Landry - Crossas , Skippy - Sami, Hinkel - Aidan
Fox - Robson ? Add a couple of quality players in January and hold onto Aidan,Hinkel and Artur and we should be going places. If we have to sell i'm afraid it would be broonie for me. Zaluska a good replacement for Artur but we would surely miss the holy one for his character as well as quality. Few gargles tastes so much sweeter tonight and like everyone else the next game can't come quickly enough.

Interesting statement from TM regarding Brown and Maloney being improtant attacking players for us.
Does anyone feel they merit coming straight back into the team.
I for one think that the more settled we become as a team, makes us stronger.
And although we have had 3 great wins, i dont want to get too ahead of ourselves, and will feel even better should we make it 4, and sweeep away a decent motherwell side, at a notoriously awkward ground.

Three wins out of three !!!!!
Lots of positives, for first time in a while I have started to enjoy the games
Tony, Please keep same starting eleven in place, keep winning team in place, let these guys get used playing together
Maybe just me, but I like the concept of dropping the two wingers scenario as such and playing with three plus aiden, seems to give us more of a hold off the game
Keep up the good work Celtic
Big Tony more of this please
Tony, Well done for coming out and telling the written press to shuff it

Brilliant Celts, that performance gladdened the heart
Anyone think that Tony got the players and fans working really hard for him today because of his totally justified observations on the press in Scotland?

Never posted before, but I'm hoping today was a tipping point and that we can kick on from here.
I thought in the first half we paid Aberdeen too much respect, and even though they had a man sent off we would still have won comfortably.
Also looks like Samaras is finally getting it all together - wishful thinking on my part, but if Ibrahimovic is worth E 40 m.....
Rod Stewart was in Poland for concert 2 and half an years ago. When he came for the first time his concert was canceled due to the tragedy of the Polish pilgrims in France. My youngest daughter was in Gdansk on that day. She met Rod Stewart walking with guards on the beach. Funny, Rod wore gala suit for beach walk. My daughter was delighted because she liked his music. Few minutes after the meeting she called me and sent me a picture with Stewart. Few days later I watched his Polish concert live in TV. When sung “You’re in my heart” he took Celtic flag from the spectator and put it on own back. During singing there were pictures from the Celtic games. All could see them on the scene and on the floor.
Arrrrgh TV overload.

Agree with everything you say. It does my head in when Celtic have produced a great performance and instead of coming on and celebrating, some posters have to have a dig at those who have said negative things about the manager, the Board or certain players.
We are all Celtic supporters and entitled to our views. I always give praise where it is due and always, always want Celtic to win and so does every Celtic supporter in the world. I have slaughtered the present manager and last manager (only in 2009). In my view there are times when both have deserved it and many other Celtic fans did so at the same time - but we want the best for the team. Someone posted that the criticism of Tony Mowbray was not justified and he should have been given to the end of the season. Why? We are a multi million pound organisation and it is crucial that we win the League.
Tony seems to have reacted positively to the criticism he received from supporters. He has cut out the gaffes - criticising his players in public and then expecting them to play well for him, constantly tinkering with the team. His ubstitutions still leave something to be desired although on both Wednesday and today he seemed to be saving our key players for the next game when he felt the match was secure. Keep up the good work Tony. If the team plays more football like today and they sustain this level of performance then they will be pl;aying before a full Celtic Park and there will be no problem selling season tickets. I would also reiterate that it is not enough just to win titles with any old pragmatic style of footbal it is very important - if we want to fill the stadium - to play football the Glasgow Celtic way.
Well done also to the Green Brigade and to the fans in the South west corner of the Jock Stein stand for their terrific efforts to keep the atmosphere going. Both sets did a great job and got the rest of the supporters going. Guys of my age aren't going to do it - we have served our time in the past - so it is important and much appreciated by older supporters.
One word of caution though, I know you were booing stewards and the police for whatever they were doing. It wasn't immediately obvious to those of us who sit in the South Stand and at one poine in the first half Gary Caldwell got was carrying the ball out of defence but when he took possession of the ball a chorus of boos broke out and Some fans around me thought Caldwell was being booed and Caldwell himself seemed to think that it might be him as he had his back to those in the South west corner of JS stand.
Be careful it doesn't affect the players, ghuys but keep up the singing.
a joy to be at the game today,. the team seem to have shape

Haven't seen all the game but have passed plenty negative comments this season on our performances, from what I have seen, thanks Tony, that's football big man.
On another note some people have compared the 1st goal today to McAvennies in the 88 New Years day game, it was also a bit like Brattbakk's to stop the 10 in 1998, with Boyd crossing - anyone remember who played the McStay/Crosas pass out to Tom Boyd ?
Go on Rod!
"Your Celtic, united but baby I've decided your the best team I've ever seen"
It's the best I've seen Celtic play this season. I enjoyed watching the match, I think everyone in the park did barr the Dons and I liked it when the whole park started to sing, not just small pockets, it was great.
Well done Jm Gannon. About time someone simply refused to play the press' game.
Aviemore77 - just remembered I never got back to you on those pubs.
Where to start. First off I don't know what any of them are like for football so all these recommendations are for food and drink only.
Blanefield - Blane Valley Inn ok, I've heard it can get a wee bit rough but it's either that or the Kirkhouse, which is more of a hotel/restaurant (food not great).
Along the road towards Killearn at Dumgoyne is the Beech Tree Inn, decent food, huge portions.
Killearn - The Black Bull used to be good, now more of a restaurant. So that leaves The Old Mill, which is ok.
Balfron - the Pirn Inn, or The Coachhouse neither that great but the Coachhouse is a definite Rangers pub. Decent curry house above it though.
Gartmore - Black Bull - ok.
Buchlyvie - Rob Roy Inn, good cheap food. Big portions.
That's all I can think of, off the top of my head.
The Argentinian McGeady scores again 1-2 Barcelona.

Excellence
Best performance we've seen in years,
left the ground, holding back tears,
crying, now that it's over and done,
not only great football but having some fun.
The passing, was it not a joy to watch,
took the tempo, up that extra notch,
running, players all over the place,
moving for the most part, with grace.
Attacking like every Celt should,
soon got the crowd, right in the mood,
moves that made your heart miss a beat,
the goals that got you out of your seat.
Now, can we keep this stuff up,
treat every week, like it's the cup,
become hunters, consider them prey,
producing excellence, whenever we play.

Evening Bhoys
Very happy tonight having watched an excellent team performance today, some fantastic individual displays (Sammi, Llandry), & did I even see Sammi & Skippy shake each others hand as Sammi went off..?? Who said this Celtic team don't get along with one another...
Apologies if this has been discussed earlier, but anyone clarify what the booing was eminating from the LL stand?? Couldn't see much from the main stand.
I caught the last 30mins of the 5 Live Phone-In on my way home after a few post match drinks. Three callers in a row were of real interest to me. The first was a Geordie gent, who whilst enjoying his teams win today said they'd have to flog 1/2 their first team if they manage to get promotion back to the EPL, and was also not sure what would happen if this does occur due to Ashley's much publicised For Sale signs over St James' Park (I won't bother with this seasons ridiculous stadium name). Guy stated "I'm just happy to see my team back winning again".
Second guy was a Notts Forest fan. Again happy to see his team win today against Leicester (they're third in table after today's game), but he felt his team would really benefit from 2/3 seasons to "consolidate" within the Championship, before stepping up to the EPL.
Third guy a disgruntled West Ham fan, totally scunnered with his teams performance against Man Ure today - given the fact United couldn't even name 2 first pick centre halves (United played Carrick there after Neville went off injured). Guy admitted his team required "major money" spent in January if they don't want to be embroiled in another relegation dogfight this season.
So what does this mean, both for Championship teams with dreams of promotion into the EPL, and the teams already there who are struggling to stay there (even with Sky's millions being pumped in year after year)?? How long will it be before a 2nd tier EPL team does go bust "chasing the dream"..??
Anyway - there's a bottle of JD with my name on it calling me (though my initials aren't actually JD), so I'll get back to my Saturday night lurking.
Hail, hail

Mate I work in a remote location and where we are accommodated we depend on satellite links for our internet. When the clouds roll in... bang goes the pictures. Last night there were clouds and I never got to see the game. When I got into work this morning I tried for more than two hours to get pictures of the goals. Like a lot of other works networks, we cannot get sites like Youtube, so I was getting more and more frustrated trying to find the goals… and then there was you and your post. Today's performance was the most enjoyable game at Celtic Park in a long time. Every player played well, no disappointments.
Carry this form on and the league will be won easily.
The players have set a standard - it is up to them to maintain it.
Well done Celtic.
Nelsbhoy,
Jim Gannon is in charge of a team who have an unlikeable following, but the way he has sussed some of the amateurs who masquerade as sports journalists in Scotland has been refreshing.
He is not one of the boys.
He is not part of the 'club'.
He is not a toady or sycophant.
He has called it as he has seen it and the amateurs with pens and laptops don't like it one little bit.
It's long overdue that somebody other than the Celtic manager point these things out.
I have no fondness for Motherwell or their fans, but I admire Gannon for his openness and candour in his dealings with the media muppets. We know cos we live here - he has just arrived and has already sussed them out.
Lazy Bhoy - re: the booing.
There was a big group with what looked like a 'comrades' banner up behind them.
It's in the family section, so there shouldn't really be a whole big group of adults. I think they did some ticket checking, and maybe one or two were taken out.
Might have been another reason, but that seems most obvious.
Just in from a great day with the Celtic family.
Few beers with Smashing milk bottles.
Watched the hoops play some great football today and more so the fans get behind the team. Superb.
Scott Brown anybody? I don't think so...

Anybody in the Southern Hemisphere seen Herodotus The One Trick Pony?
His Mowbray-Hate-Athon has been ongoing now for months.

Great performances all around.
Happy days.
A little quiz question tonight as it just happen today so it will be in a future pub quiz near you. Who scored a hat-trick today that completes the feat of scoring a hat-trick in every division in England as well as scoring a hat-trick in the League and FA Cup?
Ard Macha
curious as i am i googled your name, reading the historical significance what a wonderful moniker.
so back to stopping the ten.
i have posted this before but a wee remonisce if i may.
when we came back to paradise my seats were in 144, with my youngest brother and a beloved cousin who is now in sydney oz.
there are 13 years between me and those bhoys, and they went through their young supporter days of not remembering us winning the league.
through all the anguish, i had got to stage of going to the games but not watching, nerves consumed me, and i was spending my time in the concourses and passageways.
for the saint johnstone game, with 20 to go i left my seat , leaving the bhoys in theirs, and went down into what in my minds eye was the old jungle , and wandered about.
pacing about, like the embra zoo polar bear, i saw through one of the pitch level tunnels jackie pick up the ball and run, nd so did i.
at the next view i saw him pass the ball, and harold hit the net
i ran down the tunnel, and met jackie as he reached the crowd.
a memory i will never forget.
loved this one! :-D

Tom English: 'We've got money, truckloads of it, but we won't be investing, no'
Published Date: 06 December 2009
WE ARE joined today by a man who wishes to remain anonymous, but certain things about him we can reveal. He's a Govan man, a lifelong Rangers fan who emigrated to South America at the age of 21, who arrived in Venezuela with barely a backside in his trousers and a couple of quid in his pocket. He slept rough on the streets of San Cristobal for six months, protected from the winter rains by nothing more than a Rangers beach towel and a T-shirt with a picture of Jim Baxter on the front.
The locals found him curious. Who are these Rangers? they asked. Are
they big like Estrella Roja and Real Espor? Not as big as FC Venezolano, surely? Bigger, you say?
He moved to the capital city inside a year and started flogging things down the
ADVERTISEMENT
market. He got into leather goods and wood products and rubber and cement. An empire was created. There is no telling what his personal wealth is, but it's estimated by the Venezuelan Rich List as quite a lot. He looks a bit like that Neil Oliver bloke off the telly, only a little scarier, but don't be fooled by his appearance. He is here today to announce his interest in investing in Rangers in their time of trouble. Good Teddy Bears, we give you the billionaire Latino-Glaswegian we can only refer to as Tommy Caracas.
"Tommy, you're not doing this for personal gain, isn't that right?"
"Aye, true. I cannae stand to see Rangers like this. We're launching a takeover, myself and others and, of course, the fans. It's all for the fans."
"Yourself and others. Care to expand?"
"Och, no. That's a secret."
"But you've spoken to Lloyds Bank?"
"No."
"Sir David Murray?"
"Who?"
"Alastair Johnston?"
"We've spoken to a reporter or two. That's about it just now."
"You've got money to invest, though?"
"We've got money, truckloads of it, but we won't be investing, no."
"What, nothing?"
"We'll underwrite things. We'll take a few of these new membership things. I've already invested in Rangers. A right few bob, but I'm not prepared to tell you how much. Mostly we'll develop the brand, we'll exploit the global magnificence of Rangers Football Club and restore it to greatness. Aye, there's all sorts that can be done. As soon as we get 45,000 punters coughing up a grand apiece we'll be laughing. The bank will be off our case, the supporters will have the club they deserve and we'll be simply the best forever more."
"So the money raised from the fans will go to paying off the debt?"
"You're getting technical now."
"Well, explain how it's going to be?"
"It's gonna be great."
"What about the detail, though?"
"I want what's best for Rangers. Isn't that enough to be getting on with? I have a group of men behind me. We have minor disagreements on some issues, but we're progressing things. We have a road map."
"Disagreements? Already?"
"Aye, nothing major. The boys would go public, only they don't want to. I'm only speaking now because, well, you asked me to. This is not about the glorification of Tommy Caracas. This is about Rangers. I mean, just as soon as I save Rangers I'm happy to slip away quietly into the background. The wife says I should be given a standing ovation at Ibrox and maybe a statue and perhaps a stand named after me, but that's for other people to decide. I've no say in that."
"What about funds for the manager for new players."
"Aye."
"Will there be any?"
"Look, we're stinking rich, but the plan is not an open chequebook. We'll have to look at what's available. But I said before, we need to do something about our youth development. I mean, look at Barcelona."
"What about them?"
"They go over to Argentina, find a 13-year-old off the street, bring him back to Spain and turn him into Lionel Messi. Why can't we do that?"
"How much did Barcelona spend in turning Messi into a superstar?"
"Dunno."
"Housing him, feeding him, flying his family over to Barcelona, flying him home, educating him, nurturing him. How much?"
"You have me there."
"More than Rangers can afford."
"Aye, maybe. But it's just an illustration of what I'm saying. We need blue-sky thinking. We're a global brand and we need to act as such. There's a big world out there and there must be a trillion Rangers fans, at least. We have to tap into that."
"But you're not intending to put in, say, £20 million of your own money, like Dave King did? Just to get the ball rolling, just to show that you mean business and that you're not the chancer some people think you are."
"I'm not sure I know of anyone who keeps that kind of cash in the bank. It's all tied up, you know what I mean? I have interests all over the gaffe."
"You have businesses all over Venezuela?"
"Aye. I have a cement company in Carabobo that employs 15,000 people. I have a leather factory in Bolivar that's banging out quality gear. I own a wooden mill in Puerto La Cruz that's just massive. It turned over £300m last year alone. I was evicted from my home in Caracas a few years ago. I was out the game, big man. But look at me now!"
"There's some debate about a few of your companies, though."
"Oh aye, here we go. The negativity is coming now."
"Some of them have been liquidated, have they not?"
"Typical Scottish attitude. Hammer the success story. I hate cynicism."
"A few companies in your empire have failed to file tax returns, is that not true?"
"Look, there are certain firms in my portfolio that don't exist any longer, aye. We haven't taken them off our website yet. I'm into all sorts of things. It's hard to keep it all up to date sometimes. We're recession proof, us."
"But what about the string of insolvencies, dissolutions and breaches of the Companies Act. How can the fans trust you're bona fide?"
"Not my fault, I'm telling you. It's mischievous gossip, that's all. Responsibility for filing tax returns was passed to other directors. I can't say anymore."
"So what happens now?"
"We'll press on with putting the plan together."
"Thank you, Mr Caracas."
"Cheers, pal. Gonnae drop me a G-note to kick things off."
"No."

Hi Ghuys;- Salve salve delighted with the result today, performances have really picked up of late. I am not in the know, however one thing I do know and it is for sure and that is if we are to succeed then we will all have to do so united, ie board team support and ceo. This may seem trite but it is merely commonsense. Yes there is a lot wrong with parts of the team, yes there have been more than a few quetionable performances but byball accounts we played well today. I have been trying to make contact with a friend of mine who is a lifelong Don and was at today's game but unfortunately have been unable to. His insight would have been valuable as he is real football man and he runs two girls teams in his spare time. He is totally honest and I look forward to his anallysis.
Well the fishing season is well and trully over and I have already laid down 2 litres of Aberlour 12 year old for next year. I went to my paper sgop yesterday to pay my papers and was just about to leave when I noticed a bottle of 12 Year old Highland Park on the top shelf. I asked the young lady as a matterof interest how much was it. She said £17 : 99 ..... Wellllll I am typing this upsidedown on the floor and from some distant shore the voice of she who must be obeyed keeps breaking through with the words drunken slob and devource being prominent. Ah well I'll just crawl to the ceiling and pour me another.

McChuills on High Street for crowded pints and watching Sportscene as if it was a live game, went out to a huddle of at least 300 fholk at the Blackfriers junction. I will always remember the fhella that climbed a lamp post (outside Red Lizard or what ever its name is this week) and sat at the top waving his Celtic scarf, a moment of great beauty.

I enjoyed Paradise today, not just Cos we won, but it felt like a club united...we love you...

Often I see people on here taking a pounding for copy ‘n’ pasting articles. I tend to agree that as long as they credit the author and the origin of the articles it is better that they are copy and pasted rather than some less than friendly sites taking Celtic hits. Also, because I have often being subject to ‘work’ censors previously, I appreciate everybody who copies and pastes articles that ‘works’ cyber cops might otherwise (and often do) block access to.
To copy ‘n’paste these articles is easy yet much appreciated; then there are others like you that go the further yard. You go to the effort of acquiring the pictures, embedding them, and neatly presenting them so others, who may, or may not, be subject to censorship can enjoy the moment too. Albeit belatedly.
Reading the match blog was good. I enjoyed it enormously and I can’t say I’ve been able to say that about CQN match blogs too many times this season. However, without having seen the game you are still left feeling that you’ve missed out.
You, and your like, are to be thanked for taking the time to produce what you do and for chasing away that ‘missed out’ feeling. I hope others too, at some time on their travels, have the benefit of wee clip providers such as you. It really is very much appreciated.

saint stivs fp,
Enjoyed that immensely. I remember the game well and being my age I had gone through the late 80s and 90s travelling over on a regular basis.
I had been there in the centenary season league win in 88 against Dundee (Celtic end). Thought I was going to die that day in the crush when the goals went in. Actually remember hoping we wouldn't score for a while until I got my breath back!!
Thanks for your kind words but I really must go to bed now.

However i dont think Crosas-N'Guemo is a central midfield partnership the is sustainable purely for the fact that they will not score enough goals between them! I really think we should have a midfield duo that can score at least 10 between them!

Afternoon all,
WELL DONE CELTIC.WELL DONE TONY.
Hangovers are indeed strange bedfellows.
The sun may be shining brighter than a new Celtic dawn, but Jimmy Sair Heid convinces you that lying in yer scratcher, bladder full tae burstin point and mouth drier than the inside of a deid iguana is the epitome of pure dead sheik.
“Look it will only take a couple of minutes tae go tae the bog” the voice in yer heid announces in a voice you recognise as yer first teacher’s.
“Feck aff, I’d rather lie here, sweat and writhe and convince my urethra that it is stronger than ten men”!
Anyway!
Great performance. I’ll just repeat that, GREAT PERFORMANCE! One that has been gathering splinters for too long, and one that was played out by players who in the main have been inherited. Yep, those wasters, wastrels and overplayed clowns that Tony inherited have indeed shown that they are actually not bad or at least fairly capable.
So when the accusers of those like me who harbour some doubts over the impact that Tony will have, suggest that we are 'bile filled' and 'venomous' (refer me to where that is in evidence) I suggest that they all return to their own posts and regurgitate the poison that has been thrown in the direction of some of the players who wear the hoops.
Well you may be only dangling a wriggling bait...but sod it,I'm biting!
I give you Danny Fox, Aiden McGeady, Gary Caldwell, Giorgius Samaras, Barry Robson, Andreas Hinkel, Scott McDonald, Stephen McManus, Scott Brown as specific targets who (whether they played against the Dons or not) have been painted as lepers by the paragons of pulchritude on here.
My God ...."Fox..your tattoos are terrible". Yep Celticquicknews indeed!
But what about today for example, and believe me the choice was saharaesque in its vastness!
By Jamsie on December 5, 2009 8:23 PM
I know some of you have mentioned the negativity of some posters who are conspicuous by their absence tonight, and I am one of their biggest critics, however I have no doubt they think of themselves as genuine Celtic supporters.
What they have is something which I cannot understand, they are Celtic supporters who cannot enjoy just being a Celtic supporter, they think they deserve something more, me, every day I live I am grateful of who and what I am, a supporter of that worldwide phenomenon that is Glasgow Celtic Football Club.
Jamsie, you are spot on especially when you state “something which I can’t understand”. Believe me, and please take this constructively, what ‘you can’t understand’ would fill the shelves of the Mitchell twice over.
I am as I am sure are so many others, unworthy and humbled by your whimpering gratitude. I would suggest that you go and write a post saying just how grateful you are that God gave you a brain. It would be a step forward in the evolutionary chain mind you, if part of that gratitude involved using the blinkin thing!
So before I continue.
Great performance. Great team effort. Magic stuff at times from the feet of Landry, Marc, Sammi, Aiden and Andy.
WELL DONE CELTIC!
WELL DONE TONY!
As I have said so many times…please stuff my doubts back down my throat.
But for sad cases with testicular dwarfism to now come on here and ostracise fans who have genuine concerns and condemn them as if they are stuck to the bottom of their Jesus sandals, is paramount to the talent that is required to pick their own erchies and chew the contents.
They have maligned every player in the team, they have talked about how TM inherited cack, they have cast doubts on every supporter who happens to hold a different view and now as they wallow in the reflected glory of those players they condemned, they have the utter gall to come on here and like the insubstantial characters they have, challenge CELTIC SUPPORTERS to come on here and eat HUMBLE PIE!
I suppose they are baking that pie, laced with a little arsenic and sprinkled with the godliness that infuses their crystal clear souls.
I see Noel is making a reappearance. Great!
Perhaps it is a sign that somewhere in the folds of mediocrity and intolerance, a site that once evinced the tenets of variety, imagination and thoughtfulness still has an ember of Celtic at its heart. I do hope so, because the way it has ended up is no more than a sad dancing partner for FF.
The contents of my left nostril has more relevance to Celtic than some of the manure that stinks this forum.
Harsh. You may think so, but go back even today and read the baiting and abusive lashes aimed at people who have the cheek to criticise, the impertinence to have an independent mind, and the unforgivable black-burning shame to have a different view on where Celtic are and where they might be heading.
I wonder who actually is a true reflection of that thing called ‘a true Celtic supporter’. I wonder if those who cheered today after weeks, perhaps months of not cheering should have slunk out of the ground, logged onto CQN and admitted as I suggested to Jamsie ’!
we are not worthy'!
I suppose I might be regarded as just as bad by those that I am having a go at.
So be it. But someone has to put themselves in the firing line if the bloodthirsty dogs of righteous buffoonery are to have their taste of blood.
Savage away!
You’ll only catch rabies!
WELL DONE CELTIC, WELL DONE TONY.
THINKING DISSENTERS and HARMONISERS WELCOME!
LURGAN53, yer bhoy is both a tribute to you as his father and the good taste of Mother nature in giving him his Mother’s looks and his angelic singing voice!
Right, now that I've emptied my bowels, time to empty my bladder!
God I hate hangovers!

The Georgious Samaras Story....ft Aiden McGeady....
Georgios Samaras puts Celtic back on track
Celtic 3 Aberdeen 0....
THREE wins in a week for Tony Mowbray, the sort of momentum which will dispel the lingering doubts about his suitability for the hothouse of the Celtic job. If he was surprised and offended the media scrutiny is greater at Celtic than at West Bromwich Albion or Hibs, as he said on Friday, then Mowbray was naive for a former player at the club he now manages. Yet there is a new nous about his team. They are still not converting as many of the chances created as they should, but Celtic look less vulnerable now and have a base to build upon.
In the end, this was an emphatic win that sent their supporters home happier than they have been for some time. When Georgios Samaras and Aiden McGeady came off with 10 minutes left, and the match won, they received a standing ovation. It felt like a truce was being declared between fans and team. Samaras scored two second-half goals and took the stadium’s man of the match award, but McGeady was again the inspiration. But for a fine performance from Jamie Langfield in the Aberdeen goal and late shots from Landry NGuemo and Niall McGinn hitting his post, this could have been Celtic’s most convincing win of the season. “You are never totally satisfied as coach,” said Mowbray, “but there were plenty of pleasing things today. There was a quickness to the passing, the full-backs came forward and joined in, the strikers scored goals and the defenders had good concentration.”
The game ran away from Aberdeen in four minutes early in the second half. Samaras was left unmarked to nod in a cross which McGeady slanted in from the right with his left foot. Then Jerel Ifil was sent off for a silly kick on the Greek striker after play had stopped. It was missed by Mike Tumilty, the referee, but spotted by James Bee, his assistant, and while the two dugouts argued behind him, Tumilty summoned Ifil and showed him the red card. Mark McGhee seemed angry at the time, yet afterwards the Aberdeen manager’s ire was directed at his own player. “If there was such a thing as a double red card, the referee should have given him that. We have had five sendings off, and that was the first I felt was justified. It was stupid, reckless, lazy. Jerel has been doing well, but Zander Diamond will be back in a couple of weeks from injury, and that suspension could see him lose his place in the team.”
Celtic swarmed through the gaps in Aberdeen’s defence thereafter, but only scored one more goal. McGeady was again the creator, his precise pass springing Samaras behind Andrew Considine. When his first attempted lob failed, the ball came back to Samaras for him to try again and succeed.
Then NGuemo stormed through midfield before smacking the ball off the post, and McGinn suffered the same fate after receiving a fine Marc Crosas pass, with Richard Foster at hand to clear.
Aberdeen played mouse to Celtic’s cat in a first half that was fascinating rather than thrilling. McGhee had spoken of giving his side a “licence to lose” by going for a win, yet this was something of a red herring as the Aberdeen manager played a formation featuring Maurice Ross as sweeper between Ifil and Considine, while Charlie Mulgrew and Foster, the central defenders in last week’s win over Rangers, reverted to full-back roles. It was not a typical McGhee manoeuvre, and perhaps too timid, as Aberdeen had nowhere to go when in possession, with Lee Miller getting little change from Gary Caldwell, and Artur Boruc had a sedate return in place of Lukasz Zaluska in goal. It also invited Celtic to probe for a goal and they found one six minutes before half-time, when Crosas’ pass made an incision allowing Andreas Hinkel to get behind Michael Paton and square for Scott McDonald to convert. “We were well beaten but let ourselves down in the first half with a lapse in concentration,” noted McGhee.
Hinkel skied a shot in the closing stages and the home fans were in a good enough mood to chant “Sebo, Sebo”, a reference to Filip Sebo, the former Rangers striker. Hinkel, signed after Sebo left Scotland, didn’t get the joke until afterwards, yet still found it funny.
McGhee, meanwhile, managed to depart on a laugh after Fraser Fyvie, a second-half sub, had to come off in the final seconds having tweaked his groin. “He’s a wee boy,” said the Aberdeen manager, “he feels pain a wee bit more than he should.” This could have been a lot more painful for the visitors.

From E-tims:
So who read the latest dictat from the Celtic politburo after the recent suggestion from STUC to protest at Celtic Park? It looks like you now lose your freedom to protest about anything when you enter Celtic Park. Leave your politics at the door.
Well, the bottom line is this: If the club wants to stick poppies on club shirts knowing how many fans we have in Ireland particularly in the six counties where they have been the subject of abuse by the British army;
If the club appoints a warmongering liar like Dr Death as chairman (see Iraq and those weapons they're still looking for); if the club bans rebel songs because they are too lazy to stand up and explain the fact that ‘The Boys Of The Old Brigade’ and other songs are old traditional rebel songs;
If the club invite extreme unionist leaders with a history of hatred for all things nationalist and all things Celtic to CP - simply because he ran to the papers saying that he was abused by Celtic fans when there were no witnesses;
If the club places memorials to British soldiers on the club’s video screens;
If the club refuses access for banners to the ground unless they screen them first;
If the club throws fans out because they stand up to power hungry stewards who love the buzz they get from a bit of power and who are probably Huns anyway;
If the club refuse to print "Eire 32" on the back of shirts;
If the club has a minutes silence for the Queen Mother.... whether the club likes it or not they are being political. Michael Davitt, club patron (political appointment), must be doing some spinning in his grave.
And I’ll tell you something else - this sanitised clinically clean apolitical washed down Celtic that some fans and those running the club want should be objected to with all our might.
We were f___ing well founded for political reasons to help an abused poverty stricken disenfranchised section of society and we shouldn't let that be forgotten. While it doesn't surprise me that many (too many) fans nowadays couldn't care less about those suffering in society (here and elsewhere) - being more concerned about what the media, the SPL, the SFA, UEFA, FIFA or the f___ing board think, I say f___ them all. Too many lily livered forelock-tuggers follow our club these days. Is it any wonder the stadium is now like a f___ing morgue on match days? Leave your politics at the door alright - but only if it doesn't match the boards.
F___ing sick of what Celtic is turning into – f___ing Glasgow Hibernians.
I think he's spot-on.

ciarante,
Disagree.
Sounds like the author of that piece is raging because most Celtic fans do not agree with nor particularly care about his political views.
He is putting a political agenda ahead of supporting a football team, and moaning because few people share his rather narrow and old-fashioned view of what Celtic should be.
These people are all the same. They think they are leading some kind of vanguard movement, showing us humble plebs the light. They tend to get very upset when they realise we can all think for ourselves and are free to reject a very hard brand of leftist politics.
File under "ignore" I suggest...
Celtic never asked you to leave your politics at the door, they asked you not to make an a*** of yourself, many Celtic fans myself included felt the support was being hi-jacked by a political rent a mob, nobody asked US the Celtic fans!!! were the Celtic fans canvassed? was a democratic vote taken amongst their support? after all the club belongs to Celtic fans, yes? or does the STUC have the right to call a protest at Celtic park when it wants? and that said protest has to take place ignoring the wishes of Celtic supporters, the board of directors running the club didn't want the protest to be made at the club, they were fearing consequences of perhaps a political fundamentalist running onto the park overdoing the protest, a very fair point IMO.
Yesterday i made my way to the stall of the Glasgow Palestine human rights campaign, its in the middle of Buchanan street, Scotland's busiest shopping street, viva democracy, i made my donation to their cause, it is a hugely complex issue, but i do support the humanitarian side of their protest, i then told the activists i objected to the fact IMO i felt that you never asked US if we wanted to take part, you never carried the Celtic support with you, and potential damage to the club could have been caused, one of the activists who identified himself as a celtic supporter, who has vowed not to go whilst Dr Reid is Chairman, then stated his argument and gave me a leaflet, i listened and read the leaflet, however as my democratic right, i still hold my view.
Recently i have had the pleasure of working in the republic in the last couple of years, Michael Davitt wouldn't recognise the place, prior to the world economy crisis, Ireland had what was called the Irish tiger economy, i think im right in saying the worlds fastest growing economy at one point, a free independent state in Europe, a member state of the EEC, oh how times and politics change. Michael Davitt also would not believe his eyes in Stormont, Sinn Fein now sit in the Northern Ireland assembly and with their political opponents the DUC, have limited powers in decision making in Northen ireland, he also wouldn't believe that on a device such as a computer, you can read on all of the debates in the said Northern Ireland assembly, oh how times have changed indeed.
Yes politics are everywhere, every time a man is asked this question by his good lady, "does my bum look big in this?" he better get the answer right, or the political fall out from a wrong answer can be dire. In the year 2009 soon 2010, people have a democratic right to support Celtic free of a political thought,i thought we were an inclusive club, i didn't get a political questionnaire to fill in when i bought my season ticket, ffs working out our managers tactics and substitutions taxes my limited intelligence on a Saturday never mind political problems, however i myself have Irish history in my family and im very aware and know of the clubs history on how it was founded, we are by just being the Celtic football club making a political statement to some in Scotland, not all, as Scotland is changing thankfully, yes let the people sing the songs of their political choice, its also some supporters choice whether to sing or not.

Aberdeen were gash IMO. the most defensive team i have seen at parkhead this season, Mcghee failed to attack Celtics biggest weakness, its defence, Boruc will never have an easier game, however yes the fitba was better, Aiden is just sublime at the moment, fear a big bid soon from an EPL club, you could feel the love in the second half between team and fans, you cant beat a bit of love.

Rather dissapointing, but unsurprising, that after winning 3 games in a week and having played particularly well yesterday they feel obliged to publish such an article.

I see that graeme spiers and tom English have now come out and ridiculed Rangers Florida saviour. And to think this guy has had a full endorsement from the herald, the RST, and many in the tabloid media.
It's not only David Murray who's reputation lies in tatters now. Rangers really are the tale of the 2 Walters just now. Mitty and Smith, and when Smith says "I fold" then we will have a bloodletting spectacle of Coliseum proportions

Don't know if anyone has commented on the interview Smith gave on Friday but the comments he made were interesting.
He suggested that the accountants had come up with something that meant they don't have to sell in January.
I took this with the usual pinch of salt till I saw Broughera was playing yesterday.Like many I believe part of his problem was an appearence clause.
If this is the case they have either been raking down the back of the couch or perhaps the bank are relaxing the grip a little.
The bank would surely only do this if they were about to receive some of their money back soon through a sale of the club, or maybe the bank think that Rangers can win the league with what they have and get CL money in next season again.
I would like to be wrobng on both of these but something seems to have changed.

I think they won't sell many. They may sell guys like Beasley but no big moves out or in. We fell for the firesale last year so we should not this year.
It is vital that this transfer window is used properly and we get in what we need. 2 defenders and a striker to go with what we have.
I do believe that the last 3 games has seen progress at last.
The football yesterday was "bums off seat" stuff - chance after glorious chance.
A few decent signings in January, and we will take this title. Time for the stay away fans to rally behind. United as one we will sweep all before us in 2010.
I can't remember coming out the ground as bouyant in a long long time.....

Gary Caldwell and Garry O’Connor could be switching clubs in January as their clubs prepare a swap deal involving the Scotland duo. The Scottish Sunday Express has reported that Celtic and Birmingham City may seal a deal that would see the pair swap sides in the new year without a transfer fee changing hands.
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has been linked with a move for Caldwell on several occasions and the defender could be tempted to move to the Premiership and join the ex-Scotland manager’s side. McLeish has been given a bumper transfer budget to spend but has said that he wants to keep a British feel at the Midlands club and sees Caldwell as a bargain buy.
Caldwell is out of contract at the end of this season and is in dispute with the club over a new deal. Last season’s Player of the Year is seeking parity with the top earners at the club but the club will not meet his valuation and he is expected to move on in the summer, if not before. A number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, including Gordon Strachan’s Middlesbrough and German outfit Wolfsburg.
O’Connor has been at Birmingham City since the summer of 2007 but has failed to hold down a first team place, partly due to a succession of injuries. The powerful striker moved to England after a disappointing time at Lokomotiv Moscow but is said to be contemplating a move back to Scotland to get his career back on track.
The forward has worked with Tony Mowbray before, having been part of the manager’s exciting young Hibs side that also contained Caldwell. Celtic added to their front line in the summer but Marc-Antoine Fortune is not considered a natural goalscorer and Mowbray is keen to strengthen his options in attack.
A swap deal could benefit all parties, with the absence of a transfer fee a particular attraction to both managers. McLeish has vowed to spend his transfer budget wisely and would feel there was value in getting a 27-year old international without paying a large fee. The player would undoubtedly be able to command a higher salary in the English top-flight than the offer on the table at Celtic.
For O’Connor, the lure of first-team football and working with a manager he knows would prove tempting. Mowbray, unable to spend lavish amounts in January, could land a striker whose value would rocket if he became a regular goalscorer at the Parkhead club
Hail Hail
Mr X,
A very good point about the stay away fans. If we can return to 60,000 crowds with people getting behind the team we may well see more confident free flowing football like we saw yesterday. The players will have to show the same enthusiasm and keep up that standard of perfoance though as Celtic have quite a bit of damage to repair with the fans after the last 6 months.
If we truly have the greatest fans in the world there is no better time o prove it than now. I was debating whether to toto the Hamilton game on Boxing Day due to the family hassle it would cause. If I was going to see a performance like yesterday's I would walk over hot coals to get to Celtic Park.
Mon the hoops!

Aberdeen lost 0-3 away to Sigma Olomouc, an aggregate of 8-1 then lost away to Dundee in the cis cup, then lost 0-2 to Hibs in the SPL, they have won one away match this season!! in total Aberdeen have played 9 away competitive fixtures to date, they have lost 4, drawn 4, won 1.
It certainly was better yesterday no doubt, as i said it was great to feel the love between team and fans, but don't overrate Aberdeen who were toothless opposition.

Re E-Tims article.
I used to read E-Tims all the time. I really enjoyed its irreverent take on things. It never took itself too seriously, and overall it was funny. The Rumour Mill was a must every Fri morning.
Sadly, it seems to have been hijacked by an extremely agitated element of the support. Now they are of course entitled to their view, and some of their questions to the board may have some value, but any valid point they may have is lost in their vitriol. No humour, just rage.
I don;t log on any more, but I see a poster has put their recent article on. Well basically that article directly attacks me, because I didn't agree with the demo. The reasons why i didn't agree are pretty widely held I think - much sympathy with the suffering of the Palestinians, but a complicated issue, and objection to a crowd like the STUC telling us what to do for their own purpose when they have been silent on issues like TFS.
So E-Tims have told me what they think of me. Well they can go sod off.

Lionroared67......you need to stop listening to/ reading the hun media....Celtic were brilliant yesterday.....if we cannot be positive about that, there's no hope for us...!!!...(The Sunday Mail siad it all this morning...a bias/bigoted/negative slant on a great performance by the Bhoys, in the face of adversity....)
We WILL overcome......!!! He He..!!
I was at the game yesterday, as usual, but can anyone tell me if the whole game is on the telly at any time....I've got the highlights recorde, but would like to watch the whole game again ??
Great win for the Bhoys yesterday, I thought it was the best they have played since the openning 45 minutes against Sheepies at the start of the season. The question is now has a corner been turned in the nature of our performance? Paul67 rightly highlighted over a week ago how we need to win the next 3 home games, we got the required 3 wins. I suggest the next 3 games which are away are just as important and will reveal if we have really turned the corner.
Granted the Europa game is a nothing game and its a chance to play some players who are not starting but it's important to keep winning as it breeds confidence. The games away to Motherwell and Hearts will see if the players are giving it their all for Tony and if the manager can build on this string of wins.
Mon Tony prove me and others wrong that you're the man to lead us on to glory.

If Celtic were brilliant yesterday in your opinion, great! very happy for you, as i said much improvement, i stated we could feel the love between fans and team, even said you cant beat a bit of LUV, however i think i still realistically judged our opponents, it was a good afternoon at paradise no doubt, like many of my fellow Celtic fans it was the happiest i have been leaving a game this season.

i think the huns and their media pals are running scared of us getting our act together

Fir park and swinecastle will define our season.
Win them and we can go into the old firm game ahead as i feel dundee unt will get at least a point off the huns.
We will also either buy from a position of strength or to avoid negativity. January is a big window for us despite the news management which is now starting from inside parkhead.
As a a club we are now in a better place, it was great yesterday and a nice run of three wins.
Now we face a hurting motherwell with a good manager and let's be honest at swinecastle it goes one of two ways usually we hammer them or we play pants. I was due a ticket for swinecastle but will now have to watch it in gweedore sad i know.
I agree let's do our business and hope the hibs are our nearest rivals in 2010.

I thought that one of the critical tactical decisions made by Mowbray yesterday was to give Aiden what looked like a free role.
Too often when stuck out on the touchline he either doesn't see enough of the ball or, when he does get it, has nowhere to go with 3 men round him.
Yesterday, he was popping up all over the park making him impossible to pin down. The result was a hugely influential and effective performance.
I really thought that Gordon Strachan would have realised this when McGeady was a revelation in the CIS Cup Final against the filth, taking up a similar free role.
Please Tony, give McGeady licence to thrill.........

Celtic play well? Never, Aberdeen were poor.
Rangers play well?Of course Falkirk drew with Celtic recently.
Idiots Like Derek Johnstone are paid employees of Rangers and will never tell it like it is.
Like many so called media experts his expertise is often just opinion with no facts, basically punting on rumours and positive Rangers spin.
After all Scott Brown had an agreement with Rangers.
He's 80% certain Rangers will be sold to someone, sometime. I'm 100% certain he is a blundering tool who always takes Rangers side in any discussion.
I wouldn't tell anyone what to read ot listen to but I haven't read a tabloid for about 5 years and haven't missed a thing.
An idiot with a pen is still an idiot.
Estadio, your point about those Celtic fans who dare adopt a negative stance being open to ridicule and contempt works both ways.
I have seen those on here devoutly support the club and who would not question board policy be castigated with equal if not more contempt by the malcontents.
The reality is, more performances like yesterday and we are in real danger of harmony on CQN breaking out!

If anyone is down, troubled, needing a helping hand to lift their spirits, log onto The Herald, and read the two articles/interviews on Rangers' gallant knight Mr Duffy. Once done, log onto The Scotsman and read Tom English's column.
It's great stuff.
Just watched the game.
First of all, a caveat - Aberdeen were down to 10 men for most of the second half. That said, I think that, slong with the first game against Aberdeen, that was the best we've played all season. Can we play Aberdeen every week?
I thought every player did vey well. The adjectives below are only there to differentiate.
Reverse order -
BORUC, HINKEL - decent.
Good warm-up and warm-down from Boruc. Hinkel had one of his quiter games - great pass to Mcdonald made for a very good first half, but he faded in the second.
MCDONALD - very decent (don't have a thesaurus).
Scored a goal, put in a good shift. The usual pluses and minuses - tracked back well, couldn't trap the ball at times, but a pleasing performance from the Aussie.
MCGEADY - pretty good.
God, I wish I could give him man of the match, just to prove I don't have an 'AGENDAAAA' against Aiden. What I will say is he was absolutely superb in the second half. I just think he had an awful first half. Sweet ball for Samaras' first goal.
SAMARAS - good.
Why am I giving the strikers such faint praise? A striker needs to score, so box ticked. However, both Samaras and Mcdonald lost the ball tamely at times. Overall, though, a much better performance from Georgios than I've seen for many a game - tackling back as well!
FOX - very good.
Great to see Fox playing so well - what a run in the first half! Having said that, I though his best play came in the second, where he broke up play and sent in some dangerous crosses.
CALDWELL - great game.
Solid defending - great reading of the game, and at last a good performance from him alongside Loovens. This bodes really well for the rest of the season. You never know, he may convert me to those long flighted passes he's so fond of playing.
LOOVENS, CROSAS - almost flawless.
Loovens's cushioned headers always found a Celtic player. Would have been on the scoresheet but for Ross's goal-line clearance. Crosas cemented his position as Celtic's key player for the season with some terrific passing, not just the defence-splitter to Hinkel for the goal, but a terrific one-two with NGuemo in the second half - suddenly you realise what people mean when they say we have the best players in the SPL.
NGUEMO - terrific.
Best player in the first half. Did even better in the second. Broke up play, played intelligent balls to feet. Fantastic.
ROBSON - outstanding (MOTM)
Very good first half followed by a simply superb second half. Watch it again and see how much possession he wins for his team and how many chances he creates. He never ever gives up. What a battler!
(Subs: ZHI - poor, should have put his chance away, MCGINN - not bad, did nothing spectacular but unlucky not to score, FORTUNE - did well, kept the ball, won possession)
Weeminger at 10.38 pm last night
Thanks for the info. Here's to a county pubcrawl next summer!
Anyone else see Steven Gerrards blatant dive for Liverpool v Blackburn. Of course it was glossed over on MOTD. If it had been a foreign player they would have highlighted it and looked at it from all sorts of angles.
Celtic were simply brilliant yesterday; I loved every minute of it. Crosas and NGuemo were outstanding - here's hoping we can kick on from here and go on a run of results and performances that will secure the SPL.
On another note, I'll be in Miami on 3rd January - anyone know any Celtic bars that will show the game over there, preferably in South Beach?

Morning Paul,
Myself and my son had a great time at the game yesterday.Celtic Park was a very nice place to be.
My thoughts are this could be a big turning point for a few reasons. We have some young players who are confidence players like Crossas,Sammi and Aiden and all 3 were terrific yesterday and if they can build on that confidence can have very good seasons. Also Paul up until yesterday I have ben unconvinced by N'guemo but if he can build on his performance yesterday we will be very hard to live with in the SPL.
Finally the atmosphere was soooo good yesterday and when we as a support get behind the team no team will want to come and play against us.
What are the chances that we will convert the Nguemo loan deal to a permanent transfer in January?
Didn't mske it down yesterday, unfortunately, as my back is giving me gip just now and the thought of an 8 hour round trip in the car was too much for me!!
Will just have to wait for Boxing Day now - haven't told the boss yet!

The most interesting horse on the card today for me is Berwick Law in the 3.20 Kelso. That horse was once in Lenny Lungo's yard and if it was known that it has retained it's ability it'd be a heavy odds on shot in this race. As it is, it's 3/1. The major doubt of course is its long term absence from the track. I will take a chance at the odds. I guess you'll know your fate soon enough re fitness, but if it is fit, at 3/1 it'd be the steal of the season so far.
My other 2 in a patent with it will be Royal Mackintosh at Kelso 2.20, overpriced at 8's as the step up in trip should suit, and Dont push it, the McCoy horse at Warwick. He'll be tested over the Warwick fences but again, if he jumps, there are doubts over the fitness of his main rivals.

I also like dont push it at Warwick.Hendersons horses are in great form and he had a nice double at Sandown yesterday.Another trainer in great form and with Jason McGuire riding for him is D McCaine who has one runner at Kelso today Cloudy Lane.

Interesting piece in Sunday times by Graham Spiers. This post from a Rangers fan raises a few thoughts especially about the behaviour of the Bank of Scotland over the last 15 years --
"another good article on this situation which has been left completely untouched with not one single piece of investigative journalism carried out by the popular press in this country, why? are they scared of losing favour?
the questions I want answered will then finally shut up the people who think a super hero with £30 million will solve this mess
the financial situation will become clearer next year when the, delayed, accounts from MIH are finally released. It has been hinted at in business reports that MIH could be 750 million in the red with assets of a lesser value than the debt. If this is true, Rangers are in trouble, big trouble.
the facts we have are that the club is in debt to the tune of £30 million or thereabouts to the bank. MIH propped up the share issue to the tune of £51 million. That is owed to MIH and the only way that wont happen is if MIH go into administration which would wipe out that debt from Rangers to MIH (unless the banks foreclose and all the threats in the world from the fans will not frighten them).
so we currently have a total debt of £81 million
now, the questions
who owns Murray Park and if it is not the club, how much is it worth to the owner?
who owns the Albion training ground (now car park)?
who owns Edminston House and offices attached to the stadium?
who runs the ticketing?
who runs the catering and how long is the contract for?
how much does Sir David want for his other shares in Rangers?
who, in their right mind, is going to invest £80 million plus on Rangers just to get us and then have to invest with no possible serious return for decades?
So the marvellous run to "9" and the elusive "10" was built not on "Murray's Millions" but on the Bank of Scotland's millions and the popular press dare not utter a whimper of complaint against their former ringmaster.
The financial mess at Rangers has yet to be fully admitted to and only then will be able to see who is most culpable".
Maybe as Celtic fans we should just hope the poodle media(which truly now includes the Herald) continues their biased and short term approach to Rangers as the "real dawn" will be even more cataclysmic.
As RST are threatening action against Lloyds, i think Celtic fans with money in Bank Of Scotland/Lloyds should be questioning how their money was used over recent times.
new article posted.
