Astana, Hedge Funds, Longmuir to Newco

1274

After full time on Saturday Celtic fly east to play Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan, which is five hours ahead of UK time, but fortunately kick off on Tuesday is 9pm local time, 4pm in the UK, so the team will not have to adjust body clocks.  Such a long flight immediately after a game is not without risk, though.

Muscles need to stretch and move freely after exertion.  Players will need an exercise routine for the plane to mitigate the risk of the kind of strain injuries we see so often.  Get a schedule for them to walk up and down the plane every hour.

I expect Celtic will have a scout at the Astana Arena for Friday’s game between Astana and Shakhter Karagandy but it might not be too revealing.  The Shakhter coach and first team squad didn’t even attend the game prior to their last Champions League qualifier against Albanians, Korce.  They were locked away in preparation as the second team were deployed for the league game.

It’s back to the Astana Arena, with its plastic pitch and closable roof, which is 135 miles from Karagandy, for the visit of Celtic, who will be hoping the pitch is a better standard than the one they played on in Sweden last week.  Neil Lennon could perhaps put a call into his former team-mate, Aiden McGeady, who played on the surface for Ireland 11 months ago (Ireland won the World Cup qualifier after being a goal down with a minute of normal time left).

Longmuir to Rangers International

It was a clear five months ago we ran the story, Longmuir and the Newco job, saying “Speculation that Mr Longmuir is taking care of current business until he is ready to move to Newco is becoming hard to ignore”.  Back then CQN suggested that if Longmuir “loses his ability to be a dealmaker” there might not be much he could offer such a high-flying football team.

If the SPFL are surprised, they shouldn’t be. Anything other information Mr Doncaster wants I’ll be happy to help.

The March article linked above also speculates that Newco could go into administration this season, lose players and suffer a points penalty, resulting in relegation. Don’t know how I missed the target so badly with that one……

Charlotte Fakes revelations from last night will have been news to no one here, but they will embarrass more than a few elsewhere.  What the Scottish football authorities must now consider are actions, and guidance and advice to Scottish Football League clubs during the last year.

“Have we actually offered him a job”?  There’s one chief exec who is delivering £500k of comedy value per annum. Here’s a phrase which might come in helpful soon, “It’s too late, we’ve no money, you can’t deliver what we wanted and you’re useless”.

Has anyone suggested that being owned by a Hedge Fund is like a new signing?  Positions are being adopted for the bun fight ahead.  It will not be pretty.

Have you signed up for the 1254125 Great Scottish Run yet?  For serious runners there is a 10k or Half Marathon to choose from, but there are shorter distances, from 1 mile, for the less-athletic and for kids.  With the soul of our game being chased by so many unappealing influences this is a great way to anchor Celtic back where the story started.

Get involved, guidance tips here.

Anyone else who presents a Daily Record transfer story to me as fact is getting a right dirty look.

‘Celtic must go about their business quietly and do their work behind the scenes.

I have absolutely no doubt that is what is going on.’

“Rangers are a fantastic club with a great history. They will, in not too long a time, be back in the SPL. I have no doubt about that.

“And they’re needed for Scottish football because of their following, the size of the club and especially their history. We certainly would like to contest with them every week. We believe we have a better team and management structure.

“For us, it’s disappointing that they are not there but that’s decisions by the various clubs and leagues and we accept those.

“Rangers are one of the great clubs in Britain and we have to acknowledge that.

“They are a motivation for us to go along and beat them in every Old Firm match, so we miss that opportunity.”

  3. Lennoxtown was Opened in 2007, An acadamy for coaching young players in all things football.Trapping a ball, accuracy in passing a ball, throw ins, and all round football nous.

Lennoxtown has been developing players for six years now, can we honestly say that the coaching staff at the Acadamy have passed on all their football knowledge to these young players, can you say that all these kids have learned how to trap a ball dead instead off the ball shooting away from the player, I haven’t seen many good trappers of a ball, in fact , I’d say their trapping of a ball is diabolical, surely with the amount of of coaching staff at the Acadamy, 23 coaches in all plus Chris McCart as head of the Acadamy, we may have mastered the task of trapping a ball, same goes for throw-ins, about 50% of throw ins are either intercepted or are put out for another throw-in.

We’re all harping on about a scoring Centre forward needing to be brought in to the squad, after 6 years there must be someone at the Acadamy that can put the ball into the back of the net, if not, why not.

I hear a lot about young players coming on, their progress at times are notable,a few that can be mentioned are, Atajic, Fraser, George, the Twardzik twins, and Herron spring to mind, but there are a few more that could be mentioned. Why so few appearances for the big team. it beggers believe that only one has managed too become a fixture in the big team, James Forrest, why is that.

As one of the Acadamy coaches, surely the skills of John Kennedy should be brushing off on one or two who should be breaking through to first team duties. Too have 23 coaches at the Acadamy, improvement is a must, or it’s a failure. And when mentioning 23 Coaches, that doesn’t include first team coaches, I take it there’s a few of them.

This is only my opinion, but the Acadamy has still to prove itself to me.

P67 has indicated Celtic have kept quiet as they didn’t want to be the ones held responsible for the downfall of orcs. & SFA(not in those words) as we would be made out to be the big bad club

Agree with this, I think we’re waiting for someone else to fire the bullet, unfortunatly everyone else thinks the same

How can you possibly state – ” I have absolutely no doubt that is what is going on”

Since you are way down here in ‘Oz’.

Apologies if it was not you what informed the blog that Celtic were biting the lug holes of EUFA, must’ve been some other ‘Oz’ blogger. Or maybe I’m mistaken again.

  6. Canamalar1.

As for backlash. I refer you to mea culpa’s recent post….and that would be only from the locals.

It was not “pie in the sky” that halted the Shoehorn”,

As for leaving Scotland, that won’t happen any time soon.

Had you actually digested my post, you would have gleaned that I said that there were only two options, neither of them feasible, for Celtic not to be complicit… and by extension , paying supporters of Scottish football.

It may be hard to swallow, but, if one finances the game in Scotland, then one is complicit in the corruption.

As for seperating club from the PLC.

You are obviously having a wee joke.

You are straying into Holding Company territory here.

The club is the Board, the management and team, plus the fans.

A trinity or three legged milking stool if you prefer.

It cant function if one of the components, or legs, is missing.

Don’t let your antipathy towards the Board cloud your judgement.

To date, there has only been one constituency who have impacted on the TRIFC bandwagon and that is those from other clubs.

Apart from that, all other damage has been self inflicted.

You have commendably put a lot of thought and effort into your campaign, but, as I said, it is flawed,as your main target is really the club and not the SFA.

    A pity.

  7. Mea Culpa

Celtic are implicated in this. They WANT sevco back asap and haven’t and will not do anything to rock that particular boat, nada, nothing. The sevco pound is ALL that matters, in whatever shape or form that may be. por cierto.

A plastic pitch should not be a problem for Celtic. as I have stated a few times on here. Celtic have a plastic pitch at Lennoxtown. Surely Celtic will avail one self of our plastic pitch when a game comes up where we have to play on one..

Think you are being a bit harsh mate.

The sale of Aidan McGeady basically funded the whole set up.

How many clubs have an 18 year old who could control a ball, run (under challenge) from a Barca centre half and have the necessary composure to slot the ball in the net with a packed stadium and the whole world watching?

If we can unearth 1 nugget every couple/three season from within we will be doing very very well.

Our under 17’s beat and expensively collected Man City team during the week.

I actually went down to Manchester a couple of summers ago with Vhman and spent the best £3 of my football watching life as our kids dominated our EPL neighbours (2-4).
