Avoiding Bobo, Crown Office, Keyser Soze

653

Well done to Tony Hamilton and his team at Celtic Charity as well as the 60,000 participants for a memorable weekend which confirmed the spirit and heritage of the club.  It was great to see Martin O’Neill and Kenny Dalglish revel in, as well as so many of our more recent heroes, some of whom are aging better than others.

Credit also to the English Premier League players who turned up in such numbers, and who spent 85 minutes avoiding Bobo Balde, after Robert Pires ‘met’ the central defender early in yesterday’s game.  For all the array of talent on show over the weekend to prize goes to Carlos Cuellar, who spent £11k at the charity auction in the Kerrydale Suite on Friday night, the biggest donor by some distance.

The wee guy from One Direction looked terrified from the moment he first flicked his hair on the touchline, and he was on the same team as Bobo.  I’m sure he’ll recover quickly from his knock and enjoy telling the story for decades to come.

Henrik still has it, his movement was unmistakable but ‘Big Greenock’ looked like he was still 22.

The report by the Scottish Law Reporter yesterday that the Crown Office are in possession of material in which prosecutors refer to possible “discussions between former Police Officers employed by a media firm connected to Rangers FC and serving Police officers” moves the debate on recent well-publicised leaks onto a new level.

Charlotte Fakes has apparently been reported to police for inappropriately obtaining material.  While this has yet to be established, the act of reporting the content as being inappropriately obtained, had the unintended consequence of confirming the authenticity of the material.  All of which puts the content of said material under scrutiny.

Post-Leveson the media have been cautious on reporting Charlotte Fakes material without clear evidence that a crime had been committed by ‘victims’ of the leak.  If the Crown Office have now acted, parts of the media still independent may be emboldened.

With Charlotte Fakes now as easy to find as Keyser Soze the direction of the police investigation will be difficult to predict.

Hope Jim Spence isn’t going to get hung out to dry. Maybe if the SFA grew a pair and killed the “same club” myth it would make it easier for everyone.

“Lets be honest, most financially rewarding! I know the majority are real refugees who flee by just jumping on the first plane/boat and have no care where they end up, but lets be fair many do care.”

If I was a refugee I would hope to go a country where I had a chance of getting on in life – somewhere I could work and be better off.

    What about you?

  10. My take on the Australian debate. I lived in East Kent for many years before moving to Queensland 4 years ago. I thought East Kent had to be the most insular, narrow minded, casually racist place I would ever live. But it’s not, it’s here. I come across examples in normal interactions every week. My teenage kids say it’s exactly the same for them so it’s not generational. It’s not just what’s said it’s the fact that there is no shame in saying it, no concern that you might find their views objectionable because in reality very few must. And I’ll tell you who the worst are…they are the recent white emigrants from the UK who are proud to have escaped a country they consider to be overrun by immigrants and landed in a place more aligned with their world view… and keeping it that way is a battle they think they can win. Abbott might not agree with the worst of them but he clearly panders to and exploits the general view. There are lots of very, very positive things about living here but to deny that there is a great deal of underlying, insidious racism evident is like saying sectarianism doesn’t exist in Scotland.

“Staggering abuse of the people they claimed to represent…..the poorest workers and the most disadvantaged.”

You refer to “independent” media. On the face of it,such may be true.

Sadly, everyone has vested interests inthe ongoing Rangers saga.

Either because they are conflicted,or have no interest in the truth.

Others are understandably petrified of the personal ramifications of doing their job properly.

All the while, they are not receiving the Establishment protection normally accorded to a free press in a free society.

Best wee country in the world?

Not when people are scared to report the truth.

It has even been suggested on here-with some justification-that the reason Celtic keep largely schtuum is to protect Celtic fans from vicious retaliation.

    I rest my case.
