One man’s cloud

1060

Adam Matthews has been on top form this season, his pace and partnership with Mikael Lustig have been unfailing for Celtic, so Neil Lennon will clearly feel robbed at a top players injury-enforced absence for three months.

It could be worse.

An injury to Forster, Ambrose, van Dijk or Izaguirre would be difficult to accommodate but we are not short of right side-midfield options.  James Forrest is now back from injury and although Derk Boerrigter joined as a left-sided player, he has already featured on the right for Celtic.  If Boerrigter plays on the left Samaras, Commons and Stokes can all feature on the right.

One man’s cloud is another’s silver lining, just ask Beram Kayal, who kept Victor Wanyama on the bench until he was injured in December 2011.  Victor got the run in the team he needed and never looked back.

Signing van Dijk was a response to an unexpected transfer request/not in the right frame of mind to pull a jersey on statement from Kelvin Wilson, but the major planned summer activity was to inject pace into the team for Champions League games, specifically through Boerrigter and Pukki.  For various reasons we’re not there yet, maybe Ajax at home later this month will change that.

Blown away by the 1254125 donations, which have flooded in since Friday. Each donor, from those who donated £5 to the several who gave £125 (like it!) are a credit to the spirit of those whose footsteps you walk in.  Promise to stop pestering with a link to the page.  Soon.

Thank you.

Interesting comment on Van Dijk. The horse’s mouth told me something entirely different.

  5. Bawsman, you wouldn’t have to travel far for it to be a penalty & straight red, had it happened at the other end of the park ……

  6. We all know it would have been a penalty to Motherwell and a red card for any of our players , so why do the club accept that rules are applied differently to us than to other clubs .

We are forever getting players booked for celebrating goals when other teams players are not .

    Sick of it .

  7. It was a shocking challenge on Matthews. Oh well as Paul67 has stated it is an opportunity for someone else.

‘I am reminded of a story some years back regarding the Irish golfer Eamon Darcy.

He had the most awkward, unorthodox swing, however, he was a very good golfer.’

I am Eamon Darcy ………… apart from the very good golfer part!

The Celtic jersey does not shrink to fit the unexpected transfer request/not in the right frame of mind to pull it on statement

Early days I know but VVD looks a much much better prospect than hoopslegend K Wilson.

Thought Darnell Fisher has looked like a very tidy player on the few occasions I’ve seen him at right back, albeit he’s a mile behind Lustig in the queue.

Seem to recall Adam having a penalty awarded against him last season for absolutely zilch.

Strange that so many honest mistakes go against the same team.

Must be a statistical anomaly,I can think of no other reason.

With the sad passing of Tommy Burns, Celtic have to find a new Baggar Vance to aid the youth to make the step up; Jim McGuiness just doesn’t appear to be producing.

  15. Western Isles Council, in Scotland, is none too pleased with 67-year-old Stephanie Noble’s choice of housemate for the past two years and are threatening to take her to court.

The housemate in question is Grey Lady Too, a three-year-old dapple grey horse.

Two years ago, Ms Noble claims that her pony was ‘dumped’ on her doorstep by the owner of the land where the pony used to be kept. Having nowhere else to stable her, Ms Noble decided to put her up in her living room.

The room was stocked with hay and the chairs were overturned to be used as feed troughs. Grey Lady Too is able to enter and exit the house by passing through four doors to reach her living-room stable.

Ms Noble told The Scotsman: “The pony is very happy in the lounge and the Scottish SPCA have checked her and say she is good health. This move by the council comes from people who don’t understand animals. I don’t think any horse or pony should be put out in this climate in winter – and that is where she’ll end up if they force me by the end of the month.”

She added: “If I get taken to court I will fight it with very good and sound arguments.”

Ms Noble’s semi-detached home in Broadbay View, in Back on the Isle of Lewis, is privately owned. However, the council is concerned about the pony’s welfare.

Western Isles Council has issued an animal care notice, stating that the pony needs to have at least two feet clearance above its head in its living quarters.

Ms Noble claimed that there is ‘enough room to stand a Shetland pony on her’ if you remove the hay bed.

The Scottish SPCA told The Scotsman: “We would have had concerns if the horse was suffering in any way. But she is actually in very good condition.”
