When watching Real Mardrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich it is easy to be discouraged at the gap between where we are and the quarter finals of the Champions League, but despite the many hundreds of millions spent on both Paris St Germain and Chelsea, the standard of passing and decision making throughout their game last night was abysmal. Despite their win, PSG were the worst offenders last night, even the Great One was poor.
There is now a real prospect that no English side will make it to the semi-final stage of either European tournament for the first time since 2003, when Liverpool were last to drop out, at the quarter finals stage of the Uefa Cup…….. You’re welcome.
What struck me most watching last night’s game was Sky TV’s Gary Neville pondering how long PSG’s star players would languish in such a poor league. This is the French league we’re talking about here, not the Scottish Premiership, it’s Paris, not the ‘New East End’!
It’s easy to mock Neville but he asks an interesting question, will players always migrate to a higher-profile league? If so, there are more clubs than just Celtic in need of structural change.

Paul67,
Our Time will come.
Neil needs more support, keep all of the players, their value will increase, astronomically, in SPL terms.
There is nae excuse for Virgil or Efe being sold.
Keep on Keeping on.
Repost from last thread as obviously no one read it.

In my opinion only the chairmen of the clubs can rid the game of the compromised and the corrupt.

In my opinion only the FANS can rid the game of the compromised and the corrupt.
Only a united and organised nationwide fanbase – including Scotland fans –
has any chance of forcing reform at the SFA,
and that by means of staying away from International matches as a first step
and then Cup matches,
and so on till the SFA cry ‘enough’.
Is it going to happen ? I would love to think so, but I don’t believe it will.
For that reason the SFA and Sevco will stand all day every day
and continue to piss on the fans, just like they’ve been doing for decades.
The Chairmen aren’t going to sort this – not in a hundred years.d

Brilliant ! Think I did that once at a wedding but it was completely unintentional
In one of the early knockout rounds English sides had a particulary bad time of it, I think of the 4 the first three lost then eventually whoever the final team was managed to record a win.
The night the English win was recorded Sky were all over it telling us how it was a ‘great night for English teams in Europe’…Really?! Conveniently forgetting that the rest got beaten?!
They certainly do not have the best league in the world nor one of the top 5 sides in Europe. They have the best marketed league that has fooled a lot of people and been to the detriment of everyone else.
When they start dismissing the French league you know you can take their opinions with a pinch of salt.
They regularly criticise our league yet they did the same when our league was ranked in the top 10 in Europe. Arrogance is arrogance, we see it from the fans of the cannon fodder clubs(eg.Newcastle) as it is ingrained in their psyche… and we have to find a way to fight back and stop fawning over a television company that takes our money and ploughs a far higher portion of it into English sport than it does our own.

I usually have a lot of time for Neville’s opinions but I also struggle to think of somehwere more attractive to live for a young, rich, twenty-something footballer and his missus than Paris.

Yip.
If only we had a united Celtic supporters association which could approach the associations of other S.P.L.clubs,with a view to liberating the Scottish game from the curse of rampant hunnism.
Meantime,we`ll have to settle for our introverted entryists and their auto-immune preferences.
Sigh………….

I’ve always maintained that there’s a positive link between striving in sport and school performance. Pleased the boy is keeping up his grades, but not surprised.
In terms of squad places, making the grade and whatnot, all the boys get edgy around this time. The anxiety can overwhelm some of them, and it’s really all rather unpleasant. I don’t know if it’s even necessary tbh.
Fact is while the club’s job is to grow boys into professional footballers, your job is to grow this one boy into a man who can meet the world on his own terms. For most parents in your situation, there will come a time when the two objectives conflict. Remember your job. Best advice I can offer.
Celtic supposed to be looking at an Argentinian goalkeeper.
25 years old.
Boca juniors want him, but he wants to come to Europe.
Anybody else heard this?

While those who refuse to get involved or offer an alternative take the easy option of moaning on a message board.
The irony is the ‘introverted entryists’ are the ones who have taken action on a number of fronts and been a focal point for ALL fans to raise concerns.
macjay1,
Fine, thanks.
Yea,it seems that for some of our fan groups, the problem with Scottish football lies within Celtic Park.
Meanwhile, we will still support the SFA competitions.
Is that ol’ Subterranean’ Cognitive Dissonance at work?
Who needs enemies, eh?
Like Connaire, I generally can’t make Celtic matches which are played on a Sunday. Additionally, I work away through the week, and midweek games are typically off the menu too.
During Jan-Feb, I missed a run of 3 home SPFL matches, each rescheduled to accommodate either our friendly matches abroad, or TV.
Looking at our final 3 home games of the season, I’ll be unable to make either of the ICT or D Utd games which are slated for a Sunday, leaving just the Aberdeen match.
Adding in last weekend’s Ross Cty match which I couldn’t make for family reasons, of the 11 home SPFL matches since Jan 1st, for which I have 3 season books, I have attended/will be able to attend just 5.
I suppose I should simply chuck the job and drop the coaching.

Thank You.
I’ve been preparing for the Time, I would never give up on that hope, Aidan is from the same Oak Tree. I totally believe that the wee guy is a fitba player, not sure Scottish Fitba agrees, unfortunately.
The wee guy has seen the best purely fitba player released last season (he walked in after his meeting) he is well aware, I just wish he was playing for Hamilton. ;) But that is selfish and thinking about Petrol.

BT – from prev question for your employer they can save 12.8% employers NI how much of that are they contributing to your fund?

I read it, honest, and agreed in my head.
The clubs have had their operchancity to do something, and done sfa.
It will be down to the support, but the likes of Aberdeen and D Utd will be happy enough they are getting the chance of cups and euro footy, so I doubt they will be too forthcoming.
It’s up to the Celtic support to do something, but from what I see, apathy have taken over the support.
It will be too late soon enough.

A disgrace.
