BIG-CUP-WINNERS from last article,
Interestingly (or not) I decided to stick a whole fiver on every game we’ve played since 18 January 2014 on Celtic at minus 1. So far £85 staked, £110 returned. Overall our performance in the 16 games have been –
2 lost (both to Aberdeen)
2 draws (Ross County and Motherwell)
1 win by 1 goal (St Mirren)
12 wins by 2 or more – 2 by 2, 5 by 3, 3 by 4, 1 by 5 and 1 by 6.
Tonight’s minus 1 odds are 11/10. I think we’ll win comfortably.

A really picturesque setting that we have been gifted by the generosity of the council. ;-)

Curry – I like the Cavalry Club near Haymarket
Chinese – I have dined in the Rendezvous (West End) and the Kweilin in the New Town. Karen’s Unicorn is also good. I can recommend the Magnum boozer for a pre-dinner shnifter
Greek – no idea
Seafood. I like Ship on the Shore down at Leith harbour. Pretty wee cobbled street too. Whighams is also a seafood and wine bar in the west end, but i tend to drink there rather than eat
fish and chips – l’alba d’oro nr dundas street or la campignola in the west end are both excellent
——————————————————–
I’d agree with many of these. Would add :
Curry – go to Glasgow. Although there is a Mother India’s Cafe in Edinburgh that sells small curry dishes. However, I’d second Khushi’s and also add The Kismot – though do not under any circumstances order “The Killer”.
Chinese – Rendezvous (if it’s still there), Kweilin.
Greek – Athena.
Seafood – Fishers In The City or on The Shore, The Ship on The Shore. Also – the Lobster Shack on North Berwick harbour is worth a visit if you have time (and a car!).
Others to consider :
Malaysian – Kampung Ali (very nice food, very casual).
Lebanese – Beirut (superb).
Thai – Dusit, Chaophrya (both excellent)
Italian – Osteria del Tempo Perso (added this as a joke, but it has a lovely organic wine list including some Montevertine that is lovely). Their other place is in Lazio I think :
If you fancy a pint I have lots of reccos based on some pretty serious empirical research….

Not convinced about so many changes. I know it’s end of season but I don’t think it’s fair on guys like Pukki , Derk & Amido. Better these guys are integrated one at a time like Neil has done with young Liam.
Surely better to play with 10 regulars than 6.
Normally wholesale changes show these guys in a bad light and normally a poor performance.
Hope I’m wrong!

NEIL Lennon has made six changes from the team who put Aberdeen to the sword on Saturday for tonight’s penultimate game of the season against St Johnstone.
Lukasz Zaluska, Mikael Lustig, Beram Kayal, Derk Boerrigter, Teemu Pukki and Amido Balde come into the starting XI at the expense of Fraser Forster, Emilio Izaguirre, Scott Brown, Kris Commons, Anthony Stokes and Leigh Griffiths
Kick off at McDiarmid Park is 7.45pm and there will be live updates of the game on the club’s official Twitter feed: @celticfc

Crazy thought – to make the league more interesting could Celtic suggest we accept a handicap, maybe start the season on minus 9 points? Enough to give Aberdeen, Dundee Utd etc the chance to win the league but still will plenty of margin for us to catch up? Worth a try…
I’ve been thinking about this for some time and not only for teams in Scotland. I feel if UEFA aren’t willing to restructure the leagues then some form of handicap system could revitalise some of the leagues in Europe.
Say the top teams finished as
1 – 100pts
2 – 86pts
3 – 84
4 – 78
5 – 70
6 – 64
7 – 60
8 – 58
9 – 46
10 – 40
11 – 34
12 – 33
The following season the top 6 teams would start the season with on minus points based on the gap between them and the team that that finished 7th. 33% of the gap would be the penalty for the new season.
The teams that finished in the bottom half would also benifit by starting the new season with a positive point start of the same 33%.
So the team that finished 1st in the previous season would effectively be 24 points worse off than the team who finished 12th.
The newly promoted team would be claased as finishing 12.
This season Next season starting points
1 – 100pts -13pts
2 – 86 -8
3 – 84 -8
4 – 78 -6
5 – 70 -3
6 – 64 -1
7 – 60 +1
8 – 58 +2
9 – 46 +6
10 – 40 +8
11 – 34 +10
12 – 33 +11
It would never be adopted by the teams nor the leagues but it would sure as hell even things up and provide us with a more interesting league that would sustain our interest for longer.
BTW feel free to pull it apart, just an idea. :)
