If you’re going to stage a protest it’s better to make sure that it registers where it counts. Turning up at a Sports Direct till with a pile of tracksuits, then only offering £1 for their purchase, might echo the transaction Mike Ashley completed for the naming rights of Ibrox, but if the tycoon even gets to hear about the so-called flashmob protest he’s likely to pity the forsaken attempt to undermine him.
Ashley has invested around a couple of million in Newco Rangers but it’s pin money for him, which he can easily afford to gamble with. He is also not afflicted with any emotional attachment to Newco, or pretty much anything else, it seems. In short, this is a guy ‘Rangers’ fans can’t lay a glove on. They would be far better to figure this out and start to deal with the reality than provoke an unwelcome response.
Neither Ashley nor the Easdale brothers strike me as people who will be easily cowed or bullied into forgoing the rights they have purchased, while others, including thousands of fans, kept their hands in their pockets. The many genuine fans who are distraught at the humiliating mess Newco has become have been led up the garden path by would-be sages.
Africa
The world is paying a little more attention than usual to the many problems in Africa at the moment but I heard one authoritative voice last week suggest that ebloa is only around the third or fourth most severe problem the continent faces.
But, things are getting better in large swathes of the continent, thanks to improving governance in some areas, better infrastructure, more widely available healthcare, and more children, especially girls, given access to education.
20 people from Celtic Foundation are in Malawi building classrooms and toilets at the moment, while CQN’ers built three school kitchens there this year (more on the soon), but sometimes these many parallel developments conflict.
One such occasion is the John Bande Foundation School in Blantyre, Malawi, which through Mary’s Meals is supported by the Noreen Davies Hikers & Bikers, a group of people from Lanarkshire and Glasgow. The Hikers and Bikers support a feeding programme at the school, which makes it possible for kids to attempt the school, instead of working for food. It’s a mature project but the recent building of a motorway right on the edge of the school property has made the building dangerous; learning and feeding is no longer possible.
The Noreen Davies people are raising money to erect three new buildings. You can read more of the story here, with pictures of the school and road. If you can give them a £1 or two, do so here.

Interesting to read some Celtic supporters say that if Celtic don’t say that sevco are a NEW club, they won’t go to Celtic games.
Wow.
Celtic supporters had a choice to make when the other lot got Liquidated. We could have filled the stadium every week, having snapped up those heavily discounted season tickets. THAT more than anything would have been a statement that the other lot were dead to us, that we didn’t need them.
But what did we do? 20k to 30k have walked away from Celtic.
And what will we do? I predict that some portion of that 20-30k will return when sevco ‘returns’.
Make up your minds……
——————————————————————————————————————
Attendances at CP were already on the way down before the huns got liquidated.
A proportion of the missing 20-30k may turn up next season but I suspect even more would if the club out and stated that they consider Sevco to be a new club and offer them the same welcome to CP as they gave to the likes of Gretna and Livingstone when they played at CP for the first time. No more side jokes about tired old impressionist being Tony Blair. All I want is a clear statement from the club to say that Sevco is a new club and a recognition of the trophies they won, Third Division in 2012, 2nd Division and 2013 and whatever the might win in 2014. Surely, that’s not too much to ask for?

M6Bhoy – I think the issue is, as you said, based on the evidence of what we have seen of Jo.
The guy has not played much football in 6 months. He has played only a handful of games for us.
Ronny has seen him more than you or I.
He scored 2 v Utd, hit the bar, set up a goal v Maribor and scored a fantastic goal v Villarreal.
I suspect Ronny brought him in to provide competition in the attacking positions. Seems a decent signing to me, depends on your expectations tho I suppose.

Vmhan I am staying away from the referendum stuff. It was and is incredibly divisive.
We can’t buy enough shares to influence dos DD won’t let us.
Question for all of you. Have you ever felt so detached from celtic as you do now?
___________________________________________________________________
I hear ye pal.
Don’t buy DD’s shares – anarchy will save Celtic(or what’s left of it).
I know this wont happen as, apathy is the dominant factor but, if the fans
don’t buy their SB’s and let it be known that, they’ll be putting no more of their
money into the club until it’s restructured ie: no more PLC, then how much will
DD’s shares be worth if the fans are in revolt and, keeping their money in their
pockets?
The above scenario is the only way that I can think of for Celtic to be Celtic again.
Thing is, it might take the huns lording it over us before all the fans are focused in
the same direction – maybe the ‘bored’ have been cutting back the quality to give
the return of the huns a chance?
They wouldn’t – would they?
I think they would – knowing they’ll get away with it coz, the nature of the Celtic support / fans has changed since the Jungle became no more imho.
The Wim season
The MO’N years
The 1st year of the Neil Lennon era…..
….are the – only – times that it has felt like Celtic FC to me.
Sumdy was asking about – huns in the Jungle?
I was a wee bhoy at the time – 1975 Glasgow Cup Final at CP
and we were beaten 1-3 thanks to mibbery.
I was in the front of the main stand a nd could see all the trouble across
in the Jungle, the huns had the area, from the huns-end to no 9 white exit
and were chased out the Jungle after a series of running battles, can’t think
of any other time they were in the Jungle. I’m sure that was the only time but,
no doubt I’ll be proved wrong – 1st time for everything, eh? :)
Bye Tims.
Has anyone seen confessions of a recovering Catholic? It’s a doing a wee tour and there’s a do in Glasgow on the 26th of this month.
Anyway wee Derryghirl and are going to see him tonight, then onto a leaving do for out 2 Bhoys who are away to NZ for 2 yrs, should be a good bash ✊

Great night at 4 2 game. Great season from beating Aberdeen on march 3rd with goal by Alfie until may 21st.
Still pathetic crowd numbers though. I was at every game that season.

Thanks for the US info. I loved manning at colts. Amazed to see re new lease of life he got at Denver. Jets really have their handsfull with this one
Also hoping to sneak in Bills v Vikings next weekend. Bills are 3 2 v Patriots also 3 2 tomorrow so a win might kick things on for MONs favourite franchise.

Not sure if the huns were in the jungle that night, but I do remember sharing it with them for some games. The jungle was not a place for the fainthearted on those ocassions

First game against Zombie at paradise will be a sell out.
I will go further than that.If the huns get back into the SPL next year, there will be a mad rush for SBs.Wont be surprised if we have 45,000,plus sold. All this talk on here about “Never going back”means nothing. There are plenty out there who will snap up your seat.
If anyone is expecting Celtic to say anything to upset the huns, they are living on a different planet.Better get used to it.
Unlike Ernie,I will stand by my figures.Just wait and see.

When I was a nipper the huns always had a section of the jungle. The whole hun end,a portion of the stand, and a portion of the Jungle.Same at Ibrox, even when they fudged together the Centenary Stand. We had a portion of that, and unbelievably, the enclosure section under their main stand.
How it was ever allowed is history.Mayhem.
I meant to say GL2 that between the two places NZ folk were more like yir ain folk. That was my dad’s opinion and jonny’s opinion innaw as all his best pals in Aus were Kiwis, it’s a funny old world innit .

In the early seventies, I got a ticket for the huns end when we played them in the league. I was in their midst when big Yogi missed a penalty. I still feel unclean. I managed to get to the relative safety of the Celtic contingent in the Jungle. They defo had a section in the Jungle and there was a no-man’s land section between the fans which I sprinted across to get to our side. I don’t think it was that unusual to do that back then.We won 2-0 and Danny McGrain was an absolute stand-out.
Neustadt. .no need for apologies. It’s all part of the rough and tumble on here. I probably am being harsh on ronny but I just can’t take to him
