Ronny’s fuel for next four months

1674

There would have been no surprise reading Ronny Deila’s ‘heaven and hell’ season in the Celtic View.  It must have been an enthralling season for the manager but, good grief, it started with an 8.6 on the Strachan Early Season Scale.

These experiences mark us.  We’ve watched footballers and managers grow weary (another word for lazy) in the past, as their early groundwork waned during good times, but memories like Legia or Maribor will inform every decision Ronny Deila makes for the next four months.  He needs to use that ‘Never again’ month as fuel right now.

Did you sign the petition yesterday to demand the Scottish Government repeal their ill-conceived nonsense of a law which the entire country outside of Holyrood, and a few elites at Police Scotland, know is an abomination?  If not, here’s your chance.

  1. We need a left back (Izzy unavailable), a centre half (to partner VVD) and a striker before CL qualifiers begin mid July.

What standard of team can we expect in our first CL Play Off game?

I tried the rational approach about a year and a half ago. Waste of time. Scrolled past since. Boring.

    JJ,

You call it indecent haste… I call it self serving :p

The current team is good enough to negotiate the first round but I’d still like to see a wee bit of quality added.

    Onwards and upwards

  8. Geordie..,

I’m no sure we are good enough, keeping in mind Scottish football is truly dross and looking good against any Scottish team is no measure of how good we are or think we are.

I think we need a big bit of quality

    Canamalar,

To go past the champions of Wales or Ireland?

    Surely no?

Thought we did pretty well against inter milan.

There not a great side but there is plenty of weeker teams than them that we can face.

  11. Will also depend on which far flung foreign fields the team are taken to on the money making trips before the qualifications.

Remember last year Ronny told us he did not want any crazy pre-season schedule, let’s see if the board support him in this.

  12. Scottish premier league football isnt much better than welsh or irish league ?

    Your having a laugh

Theres a massive difference..espcially between celtic and top irish teams like dundalk for example.

  13. Proudbhoy,

We done very well against inter but that wasn’t till much later I the season, there’s a rebuilding coming and that’s what will as always limit our form.

  14. Geordie Munro on

    Canamalar,

I’m not talking about Aberdeen or St Johnstone playing them.

I’m talking about us. The current side. Minus the loans.

Apologies if I’m coming across arrogant but they will easily negotiate the first round imo. If not….I’m not sure any level of investment would save us.

  15. Proudbhoy,

I disagree, on our game yes, but at that stage of the season we’re very rarely on our game or even settled. Scraping wins is the norm against teams we think we should be hammering because of that “massive difference” you claim we have. The difference is not a much as we’d like to think.

  16. WeefratheTim on

    Good afternoon all.

Petition signed. Happy birthday Dharma. Have a good one.

Weefra HH praying to Wee Oscar.

  17. Geordie..,

Exactly, your not talking about Aberdeen or St Johnstone point being both of those teams can and have run us close in games you would not guarantee either would get a result against any of the “wee leagues”.

  18. How many games do we have to play before we enter the group stages? Assuming we get that far,1,2 or three rounds? Hail Hail Hebcelt

  19. Geordie Munro on

“Scraping wins is the norm against teams….”

    Canamalar,

    But that’s not the truth.

The tightest game we’ve ever had against these so called minnows in our first round is a 4-1 aggregate score.

In fact it was actually in a round further on than the one we are currently speaking about.
