  1. On this day 49 years ago I was one month, three weeks and one day old.

When Stevie Chalmers scored the winning goal my Dad picked me from my cradle and threw me up. I hit the ceiling, he did not catch me on the way down either, so ai hit the floor with a thud.

Some say that explains a lot about me:-)

The point of the story is simple, I was alive when we won it.

    Oh, and good evening all.

I am delighted that the ads are finally to come out next Wednesday. This is my birthday and a lot of special occasions have happened on this day.

Pope John Paul2 came to Glasgow on my 25th birthday. This was something my ancestors thought would never happen.

MON also became our manager on June 1st.

Nevertheless in my mind both of the above will pale into insignificance if all the hard work and dedication of the Res 12 lads bears fruit and we finally get change and a level playing field by the removal of the rotten cabal that run our great sport.

Loved reading the tales of you bhoys from this day 49 years ago.

I was too wee to know a thing about it all at the time being just 34 days old but im reliably informed that i drank too much prior to the game, needed winded and put to bed for a much needed nap to sleep it off and also required my underwear to be changed as we entered the last few minutes……some things never change eh?

My earliest recollections of fitba are us getting pumped 4-1 by Partick Thistle, being on my Da’s shoulders as we marched/were swept along the streets of Edinburgh in a tidal wave of green and white that went as far as my eyes could see and watching my Dads cine film on the projector and big screen of Lisbon up in the loft with my wee mate.

To this day im still in awe at the sheer determination, belief and will to win of that team.

Ive watched many a European final since and ive seen some great teams, or perhaps some brilliant individual moments win these finals but ive yet to see a team that relentlessly attacked and dominated an opponent in the way The Lions did that day.

To watch that team play in conditions that were suited to their opponent, who were masters of shutting up shop once in front is incredible and those men worked and worked and worked some more to finally find a way to get that ball into the net behind an inspired keeper and a world class defence when ive seen other teams visibly wilting, losing belief and simply giving up in games when faced with lesser obstacles always fills me with pride, as it did my Dad who never tired of talking of them.

It was amazing that they did it but such was the manner that they did it was what makes it all the more special……Legends!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aye, I’ve just got to the stage though, where after years of this, I’m so used to them wriggling out of any spot they’re in, that you start to doubt them ever being brought to account. It’s in the interests of so many to keep them alive. (and kicking so to speak-:))

Having read many of your hearty stories today all I can say is you’re a bunch of auld …. ;)

The first match i can remember attending with my dad was on December 18th 1993, a 1-0 win at home to Hibs via a late winner from Paul McStay. Beat that.

I know that our club captain Scott Brown wants them in our league.

    He missed playing them.

According to him ,most of the other players want them in the league also.

Most players want the tension if the fixture.

    Packie is no different.

  12. The Herald article on the cheats tries to deflect blame.

“I wouldn’t even say that people should be angry about what their club did. They should be angry about what people did to their club.”

What people did to their club, ffs, other than those in charge of their club no one did anything to them, they cheated!

This just feeds their narrative, a big Bhoy did it and ran away, nothing to do with us.

Out of context that could be read as other clubs ran them down, what it means is mal-administration by the SFA allowed those running the club to ignore the rules and do as they pleased, both FTSFA and RFC1872 were at fault. But the reporter doesn’t go into that, he just leaves that as a conclusion. Shite journalism, but it’s what we have come to expect.

  13. Congratulations to Neil Cameron in being the first to break cover regardless of his motives ie he knew it was coming out anyway.

I see he has went for the lazy title stripping angle and the Celtic v Rangers rather than the attention on the SFA governance.

BBC reporting from Glasgow Sheriff Court and surprise surprise report the two Hibs fans cases, nothing of any Sevco fans.

This is a scandal from a tax payer, funded national broadcaster.

As have we, slowly slowly catchy monkey, the argument and evidence is right, find the right place to wedge the lever and you can move a planet, you won’t do that with an advert.

Ok, you may be right and I haven’t paid attention. Good for you.

Yes, I sent £20 to the crowdsource adverts and when the discussion became one more push and we can have it in a Scottish paper, I ordered books to send another £10 to the campaign.

Nobody’s talking about the Scottish paper advert, now though. What does it gain to pay attention?

  19. TTR, I think it’s just shite journalism, the conclusion is clear and obvious, in his own written article he states it clearly, the Tax Justice article, the Herald interview the journo twists, distorts the comment to fit an agenda, picking comments and arranging them to fit.

  26. WeeBobbyCollins,

:-) They’d have had the first five places, running on foot, Buzz Bomb would have won.

    Guy…,

So you are now agreeing with my earlier advice about your perceived entitlement ?

Many people have contributed, very few made demands on expectations or cast up who or how or why they donated or on whose behalf.

If it was up to me you’d get yer money back and told to go fourth and multiply. There are priorities at work here, the ad is secondary, whether you like it or not, the ad will not compromise the aims of res12.

Yes, a strongly worded ad would make a big splash among the Celtic support but chances are it would also be viewed as intimidation by those that we want to take this seriously. It will be worded to support the aims of res12 not replace, this is a dangerous game and the last thing Res12 supporters wants to see is us hitting the self destruct button. There are a few so called tims who’d love to see that, our aim is to disappoint them, in fact scunner them and their hun ambitions, we know our place, the Lisbon Lions showed us the way, stand your ground and take the fight to the opposition, don’t get distracted.

    How magnaminous of you.

Turns out, from WC not you, the adverts next week aren’t about pushing for an enquiry about the corruption at SFA.

    Too bad.

I’ll remember your advice about sending money to CQN.

  30. Loved reading all the stories from all the auld timers about Lisbon.

I remember reading somewhere that our players thought that their keeper (Sarti) was the weak link in their team……what a game he had as well.

  31. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Guy..,

As you know, my post had nothing to do with magnanimity, it was about helping people like you understand, your contribution did not come with conditions but like a few others previously, you have attached conditions after the fact, had you made your conditions known prior to contributing I expect you’d have been told to poke it, and not just by me.

You either support or you don’t, clearly you don’t, IMO and from your attitude, your motives for contributing were to give you a sense of entitlement and justification to make demands on and question the integrity of those/us, who have instigated and carry the responsibility of seeing it through. I say it as I see it.
