  1. GG?…

It may or may not be a panic move. Again, we have no way of knowing what plan Bs the board may have been considering. That’s another false premis.

And “panic always leads to chaos” – again, speculation. Baseless fantasy.

Remind me, for example, how are Rangers doing now compared to McCoist/McDowall’s time?

You’re entitled absolutely to an opinion. It’s every bit as valid as mine. However, stating fantasy as fact is disengenuous and borderline dishonest. I’m not accusing you btw – we all have a tendency to state opinion as fact, but making clear which is which is key to an informed debate on the club we both love.

  2. A pig sick Celtic fan, in what I am watching happening to my club

Anyone hear Hans Gilhaus, no club like Celtic should deteriorate at the rate Celtic are.

Problem as pointed out is not just Ronny, how about the 22 players signed in last 18 months ? Who is making all these decisions ? and at what cost to our club ? Carlton Cole a point in case , who decided to waste money on this player

The football set up and structure needs a rank and file clear out, and put back into a positive trajectory, with a drastically reduced squad to of players, fit to wear the Celtic strip.

I dread to look at the spend we have on players nowhere near the team.

And there are Managers available who could have us playing attractive football with current squad and win this league – replace Ronny ASAP, and please take John Park with him

Brendan Rogers through to end of Season, and assess where to go from there

  3. Weeminger

How would you feel if we get pumped in UCL qualifies by nobodies and not win a game in the Europa League ?

Some of us are looking at the big picture !

  4. P8DDY

I’m basing it on their record this season.

They have dropped points in 33% of their games to date.

Their next three games are all away from home at Perth, Inverness and Firhill.

And they have games at Tannadice, Fir Park and Tynecastle on their calendar.

Care to place a bet with Ladbrokes on them getting 9 points from their next three?

    You should get favorable odds.

I’m aware what you’re basing it on. But it’s guesswork. It’s the future. You cannot know. And making an absolute statement is wrong. It gives the wrong impression, and it’s gambling, nothing more.

The reason is GETTING odds is because it hasn’t happened. It may or may not happen. Hence why getting odds is known as gambling.

  8. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

    Aildheid

We are spending 6 times what Anerdeen are spending – you believe we are seeing value?

Tonight Ronnies possession football was exposed as purposeless. Aberdeen looked to have an objective whenever they had the ball. They knew weakness as much as we do. The team can not defend. I don’t actually blame the defenders I’m talking about the team. 3 of our best players were Tierney Erik and Boyata but they were left to do all the defending themselves. Midfield were used off the ball. Griffiths didn’t get one decent through ball all night.

If ever there was a night to sit back it was tonight. Aberdeen needed 3 points. A draw would have done us but we pressed up the park. Aberdeen sat in and left no space. Consequently we gave them heaps of space to run in to.

If anything happens to Griffiths we are Donald Ducked.

Poor poor manager. A board that are driving the support to silence and apathy.

A sad night for Celtic. I hope this is the bottom of the barrel – I d hate to see us slip any lower.

  9. Was feeling down there but mood brightened by seeing a bolding from P8ddy and a very small contribution from Ulster Celt. The good old days of proper debate.

was that a SACK THE BOARD moment ?

    cmon.

    ====================================================

    Not revolution. Evolution.

    Start with Ronny.

It is not difficult to make a managerial appointment which is a mistake.

Accepting that it was a mistake and taking action to correct that mistake is the definer for me.

    No action has been taken.

Someone on the Board must accept responsibility for this inaction. I would doubt that the whole Board is responsible, but I am not in a position to determine how these appointments are made. And by whom precisely.

EG. Is it possible that P.L. was against the appointment?

    Was he outvoted?

    Unlikely ,of course.

Right now, there must be collective responsibility until the facts are known.

    If ever.

    But first.Ronny must go.

    ===================================================

  16. KLV

I don’t blame Ronny, I support him but I think he’s been let down, I don’t believe for a minute Ciftci was his signing or GMS or Armstrong.

Was CKR his signing ? The manager will always be held responsible but for me it’s down to Lawwell and the Scouting team, the quality at Celtic is poor, can you imagine that team winning against Barcelona or Man Utd ? We are not even an average Europa league team anymore, it’s sad how far we’ve fallen under Lawwell.

  17. GMS isn’t smiling anymore.

    Armstrong’s quiff is lacking product.

Skoosh appears to be defying baldness.

Craig Gordon isn’t making ‘world class’ saves.

Tash looks more like a poor soul than an international porn star.

Jamsie is fitter than ever and less effective than ever.

Last year’s player of the year no longer merits a start.

Either, we’re really missing Cha Mul Grew, or something else isn’t quite right.

  18. The Battered Bunnet on

I think we need to recognise a couple of things.

First of all, that Celtic are diminishing relative to much of the rest of Europe. This diminishment is largely beyond our control. Economics are serving to undermine the old model of football, and Celtic are stuck in one of the old models.

Second, that it’s not feasible to build a football team when trading the top players every year. As a financial model it serves as a mitigation to the economics of point 1 above. As a football model, it sucks.

Third, that the current Celtic manager, hamstrung by points one and two above, is in an invidious position. Irrespective of how sucessful his team might be, the top performers will be sold and replaced with inexperienced players of potential.

Recognising all of that, understanding much of it, and observing it year in, year out, there’s a fourth matter we need to recognise: Ronny Deila doesn’t know how to win football matches. Fundamentally, he just doesn’t understand why a team with more possession, more passes, more corner kicks, can end a match with fewer goals than the opposition.

He values miles run, passes completed, possession retained, possession recovered. He takes the long view always, trusting that probability will serve to even out the bumps, and that the team that runs further, keeps possession better, completes more passes, will win more games in the long run than teams which don’t.

Except specific football matches do not conform to the long view. Specific football matches are defined by moments. They’re won and lost by humans acting instinctively, sometime irrationally. Humans. Interfering with the patterns in the data. Humans. Creating.

Ronny doesn’t know how to defend a corner kick, or how to score form one. He doesn’t understand the football value of the strike, and discourages it outside of set areas of the box. He hasn’t yet made the connection between the strike and the result.

It’s a shame. He’s a great guy doing a tough job, devoting all of his talents to the task. But given the evidence of the 100 or so games played by Celtic under his leadership, he simply doesn’t understand how to win a given football match. And that, I’m afraid, is a killer weakness in this football business, where the purpose is to win.

It’s a shame, but I don’t think he can learn in time to flourish at Celtic.

  19. Celtic40me

If you are 3 points clear in a title race that would not normally be time to change manager. That used to be a welcome position at this time of year and in the past tonight’s defeat would be shrugged off as not an unexpected result at Aberdeen.

So what has changed but the raising of the bar and who raised it and why?

If you are unhappy at the football Ive groaned but Ive also cheered.

I was also reminded that had I been paying more attention at the start I would have questioned playing both GMS and McGregor in the same side.

I thought both tried hard enough but were hounded by stronger players out of danger or played trippy tappy passes on a difficult surface and perhaps now we have Kazim that combination might not feature again.

I think RD is in a position that is more difficult to defend but I cannot remember a Celtic manager being hounded to the degree this one has since joining and I think that in raising the bar the media have influenced our thinking in that respect.

Mind you its high time Celtic came out and defended him but unless the underlying policy changes any new guy will face the same constraints only the complaints might differ.

His appointment was made by ambitionless suits.

  21. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Evening all. Standard moan.

Culture and structure of mgmt team all wrong.

Ronnie – decent strategist but has some gaps in his capabilities. Wouldn’t be the first successful manager to have these gaps but they have to then be plugged by your assistants.

Collins? Is to deila what peter grant was to mowbray, token Tim for whom the job is too big. Useless.

Kennedy – lovely young man. Defensive coaches shouldn’t be lovely or young.

McGuiness is a real enigma for me. Can’t see what he has brought.

Lack of leadership is obvious. Where is the ‘wise old sage’ type who has seen it all and whose judgement can instinctively be trusted?

Where is the tough but type who scares the hell out if players, makes them fear failure and makes opposition hard men seem like softies by comparison?

Who is stirring the players blood before matches reminding them of our heritage and what a privilege it is to put the jersey on EVERY time?

Ach well. The fans are still special.

  24. To leave the management in place is the biggest mistake. People worrying about how change will disrupt us is missing the point. Change is exactly what we need. The blasé attitude towards the title is remarkable, we are struggling to cope with any team which is organised.

Ronny must go tomorrow, his reign will be more costly than Mowbray.

His insistence on the one system and the failure to bring in a defensive mid who can tackle and compete was the final straw.

Act now before we are chasing.

Lawell this is you’re fault, action needed.

  27. MILDOUWOLF67 on 3RD FEBRUARY 2016 11:18 PM

If Armstrong isn’t RD’s signing, why does he pick him every game when fit?

  28. Auldheid’s comments at 10.47pm are spot on. The League remains ours to lose, we have a cup tie on Sunday against non league opposition so the double remains a very real possibility. That, clearly, doesn’t mean that all in the garden is rosy. There were poor performances all over the pitch tonight but we need to stay behind the team .

Trebles, even doubles are extremely hard to win, and you just need to look at all the main leagues across Europe over the years to see that. Even when individual clubs are deemed to be in a position of dominance. Yet, as Aulheid says, we seemed to have been conditioned into thinking that anything less than the Treble now means failure.

Whether RD is the right man short, medium or long term I don’t know. What I do know, however, is that if , like anything else in life, you want to change something you need to be pretty certain that what you’re changing to needs to be better than what you had. So, yes, it’s easy to say RD is this or that and we need a new manager. This is where we need to be realistic……..who are we going to attract because one things for certain and that’s that were wont be a big pot of money for them to spend. That’s a fact and that would put virtually all the names mentioned as ‘potential’ saviours going anywhere near it.

RD should be given the chance to see the season out, bed in the new signings (thought Kazim Richards looked good and may encourage him to change to a 4-4-2) and see if we can finish the season strongly and bag the Double. We have also got Patrick Roberts to look forward to. Given the financial position in recent years I never thought we’d see another £10m plus player in the Hoops but that’s what we’ve got with young Patrick.
