AITCHISON AMONG EIGHT YOUNG CELTS IN CAP CALL-UP

1

JACK AITCHISON, who made his second appearance for Celtic last month, is one of EIGHT Hoops Youth Academy players to get a call-up from Scotland.

The 16-year-old striker, who became the club’s youngest player and goalscorer when he netted in the 7-0 win over Motherwell on May 15, has been named in the Under-17 squad for the friendly double-header against Japan in Spain.

Fellow-Celts Ryan Mullen, Stephen Welsh, Daniel Church, Robbie Deas and Kerr McInroy have also been brought in.

Aitchison was involved in the recent 4-0 victory over Hearts when he came off the subs’ bench and was brought down to earn the team a late penalty-kick which was drilled home by Scott Sinclair.

Coach Scot Gemmill’s side will be in action a week tomorrow (February 24) and the following Sunday.

And 13-year-old wonderkid Karamoko Dembele and David McKay are included in the Scotland Under-16 squad for a UEFA development tournament, which will be staged at the Oriam in Edinburgh.

The Scots will face their counterparts from Croatia, Iceland and Austria between Monday, February 27, and Friday, March 3.
