AJER AND HIGHER: NEW DEAL FOR KRIS

CELTIC will offer Kristoffer Ajer a new deal, despite the towering Norwegian just signing a four-year contract last summer.

Italian giants AC Milan have been linked with the versatile 21-year-old star and there was also a whisper old boss Brendan Rodgers was showing an interest before the Premier League transfer window closed.

Neil Lennon has insisted he wants to keep Ajer at Parkhead and enhanced terms could soon be on the table for the youngster, according to a report in the Daily Record.

Ajer has been so impressive in the last year he is now seen as an established member of his nation’s international squad.

His fellow-countryman Ronny Deila brought him to Glasgow from IK Start in a £700,000 switch in January 2016. He arrived as a midfielder, but, following a season-long loan deal at Kilmarnock to gain experience as a central defender, he has made startling progress.

Boss Lennon laughed off reports of £15million interest from Milan and, as CQN reported earlier this month, his Hoops predecessor would have been given no joy in attempting to lure him to Leicester City.

Now Ajer is about to be rewarded with a bumper new deal to ward off potential future suitors.
