ASTANA KEEPER’S PRAISE FOR ‘FANTASTIC’ CELTIC SUPPORT

1

The Astana goalkeeper Nenad Eric, who will perhaps be the busiest player on the park this evening, is relishing another opportunity to play at Celtic Park in front of the ‘fantastic’ Celtic support.

The 35 year old keeper was beaten by both Leigh Griffiths at the end of the first half and then by his striking partner Moussa Dembele in the closing seconds of the match a year ago.

Those two penalty goals were enough to break Astana hearts and discipline as red cards followed for the visitors as Celtic Park went wild.

None of that seems to be of a concern to the experienced keeper as he looks forward to another chance to play at one of European football’s most iconic stadiums tonight.

“We have a very nice atmosphere in the team right now,” he said.

“We are preparing in a normal way and at a normal speed.

“Celtic are a great team with great supporters.

“We hope it’s going to be an interesting game and we will try to show our maximum, our best game and good discipline.

“Hopefully it will be a fantastic performance.

“Playing outside of home will be easier for us I think.

“Even if we lose or draw we will be able to catch up and go through to the next round.

“Of course it’s a pity we lost our previous game here although it will be very nice to play here.

“It’s such a great stadium with fantastic supporters.

“I hope it’s going to be a very nice game and we’re going to win it.”
