  1. Phew! No denying this BM team it’s a gr8 side. We could go all out and defend defend. But is that our way?

  2. If we had spent another 10 million it would make no difference against sides like Bayern & PSG.

I think the Bhoys are doing reasonably well.

These guys are streets ahead of us and there is nothing we can do about it.

I think Dembele might be better option for an out ball than Lee.

Our battle is against Anderlecth plain & Simple.

  3. Our best hope is if they decide to conserve some energy, apart from that I can’t see us getting back in. If we have even 30 seconds of possession they take that as an affront and redouble their attack – much like PSG did.

That’s the sad reality of CL football now. The elite clubs – Barca, Real, Bayern, PSG, Atletico, Man City, Chelsea… all miles and miles ahead of the rest.

Only consolation is that Anderlecht are losing.

  4. Lustig and Boyata doing well, full backs have no cover in front of them, Armstrong and Ntcham poor again in Europe. We need to learn 4-5-1 against these top sides.Cannot start with LG, Paddy and Sinclair away from home.

  5. Dembele early in second half I reckon.

Lucky it’s only 2, we can have a go in the second half if we stop giving it away. Easier said than done though.

  6. Think Ntcham has actually been ok. One of the few who looks comfortable on the ball. But their movement, midfield to front, is just killing us.

    HT 2-0

We are struggling against a superior opponent tonight.

Do we lack confidence in our ability at this level or is it the quality of opponent that has caused so many unforced errors.

I don’t expect us to win this game but do want us play the way we know we can.

The only surprise is that it’s only 2-0, our defence is woeful. Our passing ,which has not been too hot lately ,is really being shown up by their pressing. Gordon gives away possession every time he kicks the ball. Dembele up front would at least give us a better target for the long balls than Griff. Armstrong looks off the pace, better with McGregor for the second half. Please just avoid another PSG humiliation.

  9. If you don’t do the basics well in football especially away from home you can expect to lose.

Or defence apart from Boyata are still in the dressing room..

Better team yes but we can compete a whole lot better than this..

    Come on Celtic at it..

  10. LG at his best when we can dominate possession, not so good as an ‘out’ when our backs are to the wall. Need a big fella up front. Send for Nir :)

  11. tierney and sinclair not at the races. armstrong apologising for making things difficult for the bayern player. what was that about? tierney has not been himself this season in my opinion. sinclair being disposessed by robben well in the bayern half should be the other way round for a team like us having to battle. but it’s not. Need a big change in attitude – no passagers second half.

  12. Woooft.

On occasions like tonight I agree with Pedro. 2 30 min half’s please.

TET. I agree would should have signed a Centre half. Especially so knowing Jozo’s injury record. Would Jozo have made a difference tonight. I definitely think so in terms of organisation and confidence. As would another quality Centre half. Would it have made any difference overall. Likely not but it does not mean we shouldn’t have signed one. Losing Jozo again means tinkering rather than have a defence building confidence game on game.

We are miles behind BM’s and PSG’s.

But we still seen lacking tonight in movement, passing and pace. No options to play out leaving punts up the park that are coming right back at us in waves.

It’s all about making sure we do not get embarrassed now and look to the Anderlecht game for qualification to Europa.

That’s unless Brendan can magic a change or two out the hat to system and players.

  13. Gary67 at 8.37, nail on head. To be fair, subsequent posters have said the same.

It’s a tough watch so far.

  14. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

I was worried about three things – off-the-ball movement, defending wide areas and set pieces.

    Set pieces okay so far!

Anderlecht only one down, which is slightly worrying.

  15. JMCCORMICK and CORKCELT

    Honest, realistic posts.

It’s where we are and where we are going to be for a while at least.

No where near the top teams in Europe.

    Bring on Anderlecht!

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. its not media here. we are poor. there is no fluency and Griffiths might as well be in Glasgow as there is zero happening.

i dont buy “Bayeen Class”. front to back we are extremly dissapointing and it needs adressed be it a few punches or hash words.

if it continues, put on the youth team, would rather see development rather than over rated stagnant rubbish.

  17. I’m assuming they are going man to man when Gordon has the ball, leaving the options limited.

CG surrendered possession 6 Times in the first 15 minutes. Must be a reason.

Hope it’s not a second half horsing, we will tire before they do.

  18. Celtic playing great……since no criticism allowed. Meanwhile back on planet reality there are 2 major considerations. 1. Celtic are not in the same financial league as BM or PSG so realistically can’t expect too much. 2. That doesn’t excuse atrocious marking, schoolboy defending and slack passing. Thats the frustration. Still, Anderlecht at CP is the final.

  19. Bada Bing.

    I agree.

Bayern are a different level to us, our players are giving it everything they can but our formation helps Bayern.

Brown and Ntcham being over run.

Hopefully damage limitation in second half, with no injuries. We then move on and learn.

I can’t understand people criticising our players tonight, quite simply we are up against superior opponents.

    Hail Hail

PSG up 2.0 so that’s good news.

  20. Bhoys, I don’t have the answers, but

We need to accept we are not at this level

    Bada, I would go 5, 4 , 1

  21. ITALIABHOY on 18TH OCTOBER 2017 8:39 PM

    agree 100%

those criticising KT will annoy lots of posters as i know from previous.

  22. TURKEYBHOY

    I agree about the tactics.

We are not psychologically ready to play at this level.

We are set up with a not to lose strategy rather than one to win.

We are encouraging the better teams superiority complex and making it to high a mountain to climb.

Playing on the front foot is so much easier than the on our heels strategy.

Also the coaching is to one dimensional for the European stage.

We pass the ball about at the back with emphasis on retention and they are happy to allow as they are set defensively in the middle.Once we run out of easy options they press and we panic.

I think we are now suffering second season syndrome and are to one dimensional so predictable.

If teams like Bayern and Real are willing to play long balls as a tactical variation why can’t we?

  23. SINGAPORE CELT

    What a poor post!

We are playing one of the top sides in the word on their home ground!

How good do you think we are?

  24. JMMC-Philbhoy-MWD

I don’t need a reality check, I know what I am seeing, they are tearing us apart, we have a make shift defence, had we had defenders who were fit and not injury prone, we may well have stood a better chance, I know fine well we are miles away from the likes of Bayern and the likes, but we have ambitions of europa footy, with a makeshift defence we will get spanked as well, that is my point, Brendan also wanted to sign defenders, he must be needing a reality check as well by what yous are saying.

  25. To any Sevconians that have joined to have a laugh….

We are earning about £55,000 per minute for each CL Group Stage game. So keep on celebrating as the chasm grows.

Achieving 3rd place and European football is achievable. Making the chasm even wider.

CL is about funding our domestic dominance and allowing us to get gradually stronger in Europe – CL or Europa.

    Smell the Glove.

  26. were only poor in 3 areas…………………

    defence………………..

    midfield…………………….

    and attack………………………………..

  27. TET

If Jozo had been fit, and players do get injured, would he have gained us a victory…or even a draw?

We are playing some of the best teams in the world.

I can dream…………….but, reality can be a son of a bitch.

No harm meant to you btw!

Going up to Stonehaven on Friday for the weekend.

    I’ll pass on your regards.

  28. kT’s our passescout of defence have been particularly poor tonight also.

Come on wee man. Calm your jets and play your usual best.

    CAusing our own problems now.
